Full textThis qualitative study aims to investigate how three art teachers' planning and teaching were affected as a result of the corona pandemic in 2020, and to investigate what problems and opportunities the teachers experience in the work with art teaching. Empirical collection has taken place through digital semi-structured interviews and has been analyzed using a thematic analysis method and interpreted in the light of the study's theories. The results of the study show that teachers experience great resistance in planning and teaching, mainly due to the lack of foresight and structure. The distance between teacher-student in the form of distance learning, the teachers experience, affects how well they communicate with their students and that the teaching needs to be more concrete to span the physical distance. Teachers feel that the lack of physical presence has a negative effect on their psyche. They believe that it is in the meeting, the relationship with their students that creativity and energy flow and that without the students in place it is more difficult to keep the motivation up and that the teaching is not of the same quality as before the corona pandemic. The study ends with a discussion where suggestions are given on how resistance can be eased and make planning and teaching more structured and tangible for both teachers and students.

Full textBackground At the end of 2019 the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus began in China. Inorder to stall the spread of the virus, government agencies in Sweden havefaced a challenge with communica<ng informa<on in an effec<ve way. Oneway to reach a large number of people is through social media.Aim The study analyzed how three local government agencies had used Instagramto convey informa<on about the pandemic to their ci<zens. As well aswhat strategy has worked the best.Method Interviews were conducted in order to find out how the regions saw theirown work and goal with their use of Instagram. To accompany the interviews,an online form was used to pinpoint the target audience's aVtudetowards different types of Instagram posts. Together with a mul<modalanalysis of the posts, a triangula<on of the results was made. Results The strategies, target groups and goals with Instagram varied between theregional government agencies. Certain mul<modal strategies like culturalsymbols, analy<cal processes and textual metafunc<ons can have a posi<veimpact on the ci<zens aVtude towards the posts. It also showed the difficultywith designing informa<on for Instagram in a way that encourages citizensto read the post in its en<rety. This was especially prominent whenusing cultural symbols in a careless way or the message conveyed by theimage was perceived to be irrelevant. Finally, it showed that the local governmentsaim to follow the governmental wri<ng guidelines but don’t alwayssucceed. Conclusions The target audience and purpose of using Instagram varies between the regionalgovernment agencies and this is reflected in their mul<modal execu-<on of Instagram posts. Full textIn 2020, the world was hit by a pandemic, a widespread virus called Covid-19 that has negatively affected both organizations and individuals around the world, which has shown that successful crisis communication is important for organizations. Because of this, it is important that the organization has knowledge of how to adapt its crisis communication in social media to the type of crisis that Covid-19 is. Therefore, this essay focuses on crisis communication in social media for the professional group of communicators during a pandemic like Covid-19. The purpose is to investigate and identify factors that are important for the professional group of communicators when they are to communicate in crisis on social media, as well as to investigate and identify the most important characteristics of social media to use during a pandemic such as Covid-19. The essay is based on empirical material in the form of interviews and the method used is a qualitative methodological approach with semi-structured interviews, with the intention of studying the knowledge and experiences that the respondents possess. The thesis is also supported by research in the use of social media during a pandemic and the role of the communicator during a pandemic that together builds a pre-understanding of the subject. The essay results in six important features of social media that can be used in a crisis such as Covid-19 and five theoretical and practical factors that are important for the communicator to start from in crisis communication during a pandemic. The six important characteristics of social media are dissemination, measurability, ownership, external monitoring, source of information and dialogue. The five factors that the essay resulted in are the situation, resources, factual and fact-based information, fast communication process and interaction. The factors can generate a successful crisis communication during Covid-19 and similar crises.

Full textWith the current COVID-19 pandemic, several restrictions have been introduced, including social distancing and working from home if possible, as a result of the pandemic and its restrictions, our social contacts have decreased both at work and in private life. There have been previous reports of both the pros and cons of working from home and the effect on work-related health differs in previous research. Many previous studies concerning COVID-19 and occupational health have been carried out in other countries with tighter restrictions and other conditions, there is therefore a knowledge gap and there is also a need for more research into how conditions in our work environment have changed with the COVID-19 pandemic. The purpose of the study is to investigate how employees experience their social work environment when working from home during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study is a qualitative study with semi-structured interviews as a method and the interviews take place through digital communication tools. The study includes 10 informants who are working from home during the pandemic. The results showed both that the informants perceived their social work environment as very different with only digital contact with colleagues and managers. Experiences of the social work environment included fewer social and spontaneous contacts, however, the informants tried to talk continuously with their colleagues and it felt important to support each other. They also experienced the advantages and disadvantages of communicating through digital tools, but the experience was that the collaboration with colleagues worked well even though there were some difficulties. The informants had different experiences of contact with the manager and the possibilities for receiving support.

Full textThe purpose of this case study is to gain a deeper understanding of crisis communication on social media during a pandemic. It is achieved by analyzing organizational crisis communication on social media and the response to it during the covid-19 pandemic. A special focus is placed on music festivals which had to cancel their events as a direct effect of the pandemic, and which communicated their crisis measures on their official Facebook sites. Timothy Coombs’ Situational Crisis Communication Theory (SCCT) provides the study’s theoretical framework. The methodological framework consists of a qualitative as well as a quantitative approach, more precisely a rhetorical and a quantitative analysis. The rhetorical analysis is used to examine the music festivals’ Facebook posts, while the quantitative analysis examines stakeholder’s response to these posts. Both theory and method are used to map out the music festival organizers’ choice of crisis response strategies. Three organizers are being analyzed throughout the course of the study: Ultra Music Festival (UMF), Roskilde Festival (RF) and Tomorrowland (TL). The study aims to answer the following questions: 1. What kind of response do the organizers get on their Facebook posts? 2. How do the organizers communicate about the crisis on Facebook? 3. In what way does the communication differ from one organization to the other? Results show that the three organizers have used different crisis response strategies and confront the crisis in different ways. UMF’s communication shows what Coombs (2015, s.146) defines as diminishing and denying crisis response strategies, while RF’s and TL’s communication manifests more rebuilding and bolstering crisis response strategies. The rhetorical analysis shows that RF and TL used persuasive audience appeals, such as pathos and ethos, to a much greater extent than UMF. The wide use of these appeals together with detailed informative messages about the measures taken by the organizer’s in response to the crisis, especially economic ones regarding reimbursements and ticket-validity, played a significant role in the public's reaction to the messages. The aspect of time in which the organizer’s posted their crisis messages in relation to the development of the covid-19 pandemic has affected the public’s response as well. The quantitative analysis reveals that publics reactions were more positive to the posts made by RF and TL than to the one made by UMF.

Full textThe pandemic of 2020 is affecting all of the civilized world and is not only changing how we act in the physical world, but also how we act in cyberspace. Criticism towards the development of 5G technology has grown during this pandemic due to a conspiracy theory connecting it to the spreading of the coronavirus. This study by Nathalie Carlsson and Martin Hage aims to understand how members in a 5G conspiracy-oriented group on Facebook produce and show trust towards its group and creating mistrust towards non-members, telecommunication companies and governing bodies. This study uses a netnographic gathering of data and argumentative analysis of posts in the aforementioned group in an attempt to find patterns that can be connected to the expressions and production of trust and mistrust. The results show how certain roles within the group as well as their content makes it applicable for structured skepticism, a theory about production of trust and mistrust. Through the administrator and their measuring methods the group is able to produce and express trust towards internally, as well as mistrust towards those who the group considers to be the “elite”. Through argumentative strategies such as usage of selective source material and personal experience of symptoms, the group creates and maintains mistrust against authorities and production of trust towards the group. The administrator, the measuring and these arguments contribute to actions with the goal of promoting the groups thesis and expressing both trust and producing mistrust while doing so.
