Abstract:
The covid-19 pandemic can endanger the physical and mental health of people in general, but a particularly vulnerable group are people who work in stores. The purpose of the study was to examine how the health of store employees had been affected by the covid-19 pandemic and to identify if age, gender, form of employment, line of business and type of store, are important contributing factors. To answer the purpose a web-based survey was performed where 783 store employees participated. The results showed that store employees had relatively high anxiety levels concerning covid-19 infection and relatively high stress levels concerning increased workload because of covid-19. A large proportion of the store employees who had less social interactions due to their job had experienced sadness. The results also showed that there were several factors that affected the health of store employees. The factors who clearly influenced the anxiety and stress levels were if the store employees had shown symptoms, has had covid-19 or were in risk group. Gender, line of business and what type of store they worked in also had some impact on anxiety or stress levels. Age and form of employment were however factors who influenced the health very little according to this study, but to draw this conclusion with certainty further studies are needed. The conclusion is that the health of store employees has been negatively affected by the covid-19 pandemic regarding increased anxiety, stress and sadness, and also that risk group is the foremost contributing factor.

Abstract:

Since the 1980s, the digital revolution has been both a negative and positive force. Within a few weeks of the Covid-19 outbreak, lockdown accelerated the adoption of digital solutions at an unprecedented pace, creating unforeseen opportunities for scaling up alternative approaches to social and economic life. But it also brought digital risks and threats that placed new demands on policymakers. This article assembles evidence from different areas of social science expertise about the impacts of Covid-19 in digitised societies and policy responses. The authors show how the pandemic supported changes in data collection techniques and dissemination practices for official statistics, and how seemingly insuperable obstacles to the implementation of e-health treatments were largely overcome. They demonstrate how the ethics of artificial intelligence became a primary concern for government legislation at national and international levels, and how the features enabling smart cities to act as drivers of productivity did not necessarily give them an advantage during the pandemic. At the micro-level, families are shown to have become ‘digital by default’, as children were exposed to online risks and opportunities. Globally, the spread of the pandemic provided a fertile ground for cybercrime, while digital disinformation and influencing risked becoming normalised and domesticated.

Abstract:
The rapidly spreading pandemic of SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) infection with high morbidity and mortality has overwhelmed the global healthcare services. With mysterious origins and the capacity of affecting multiple types of tissues, SARS-CoV-2 has baffled many scientists - which has posed great challenges in the development of pharmaceutical treatments and preventions (i.e., vaccination). The COVID-19 pandemic has also led to a slew of non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) to slow down the spread of the virus. The sudden imposition of these NPIs including social distancing, lock-down, school closures, isolation, and quarantine of suspected cases or contacts, has greatly affected the mental health of children and adolescents. Concerns about the impact of these NPIs on mental health, especially for vulnerable populations such as children and adolescents, have emerged. This study discusses several different aspects of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the mental health of children and adolescents.Accumulating evidence has shown that the vast majority of children and adolescents exposed to the SARS-CoV-2 virus are asymptomatic, although few cases turned unfortunately severely ill. The genomics, microbiology, and biochemistry of this novel coronavirus reveal several peculiarities, making it a tough entity. The profound impact of social distancing along with the closure of schools, parks, and other recreational activities on the delicate minds of children and adolescents makes them irritable, angry, and rebellious. This assumes a major challenge in children with mental health issues or in those with special needs. Lock-down, quarantine and isolation further complicate the mental health issues and are discussed along with remedial measures. The impact of an already overwhelmed medical care system on the mental healthcare quality can be profound and needs a specially chartered approach by the psychiatrists supplementing the COVID-19 control activities. Children/adolescents with neuropsychiatric issues need special care, as they have abnormal impulsive behaviour and actions such as running away, unhygienic acts, spitting etc. All these mental health issues in children and adolescents, who form a sizable population of the society and are the future of the planet, forms the subject matter of this work. Thus, all programmes of COVID-19 control must simultaneously address these important mental health issues of children and adolescents to prevent this ‘parallel pandemic’ of psychiatric disorders. The latter may persist much longer and prove equally challenging and costly.

Abstract:
Nurse anesthetists experiences from working at Covid-19 icu Abstract Background: In December 2019 news came from China about the Covid-19 virus. A contagious virus that quickly spread across the world and created a new pandemic. Covid-19 can cause very serious airway symptoms that require advanced intensive care. Nurseanesthetists have in-depth knowledge regarding managing airway and monitoring sedated patients in respirator thus they were placed at Covid-19 icu to reinforce. Studies show that mental health is affected to a greater extent by healthcare staff who work with seriously ill patients with Covid-19. Motive: To gain insight into what it is like as a nurse anesthetist to work with Covid-19 infected patients and how they handle that. Aim: Describe nurse anesthetist experiences from working at Covid-19 icu. Methods: Qualitative content analysis with inductive approach. An interview study with semi-structured interviews. Result: Participants experienced the work at covid-19 icu as instructive, rewarding and positive but also to some extent stressful and dense. Some felt a stress and insecurity early on that later decreased the more they worked there. None of the participants experiencedthat this has affected them psychologically any way but some reported that they can still get anxiety when they think back. The contact with the patients relatives by telephone felt special and affected as they were not allowed to visit due to the risk of infection. No one stated that they were afraid of becoming infected themselves, but there was a great fear of possibly infecting others. No participant wanted to work at Covid-19 icu again. Conclusion: It’s not only scary, stressful, and nervous when something new shows up and as a nurse anesthetist you are challenged in your professional role, but also rewarding, instructive and interesting. This study suggests that a need for recovery and pause is important for the mental health of anesthesia nurses.

Abstract:
The mental health impacts of LGBTQ discrimination during the Covid 19pandemic have been severe. "We find that LGBT adults have experienced thepandemic differently than non-LGBT people in some key domains including withrespect to their risk of COVID-19, mental health, employment loss, vaccine attitudes, and willingness to engage in risk-reduction behavior such as social distancing(Dawson).” Additional help is necessary to manage resources for this group at a timewhen their voice isn’t as strong. Another example of a historical pandemic is the influenza pandemic thatoccurred after World War 1. These pandemics changed history, and the way that wethink and operate as a society. The COVID19 virus especially has changed the world. Some examples of how COVID has changed the world include school closures andlimitations on access to healthcare. The LGBTQIA community especially has struggled with access to equitablehealthcare. "In 31 states there is still no employment discrimination protection fortransgender people. private businesses and individuals continue to discriminateagainst same-sex couples. In Colorado, 41% of LGBQ people and 75% of transgenderpeople report needing to educate their health care providers on LGBTQ-specifichealth needs(McAfee).” The mental healthcare system has oppressed LGBTQIApeople. I wish to provide a contribution to a community where marginalizedcommunities are encouraged to gain social justice. By social justice I meanopportunities and privileges distributed equally within a society. They will gainsocial justice by disrupting systems that abuse oppressed marginalized folks. Thisincludes systems like systemic racism, ableism, sexism, and heterosexism andhomophobia. Institutions such as government, culture, and education reinforce thisoppression. These systems are hurtful and repeated by the mental health system.

Abstract:
Introduction: It is estimated that 25 percent of youth between the ages 16-29 and 20 percent of the population between the ages 30-44 in Sweden suffer from some sort of mental illness (Folkhälsomyndigheten, 2019d). The covid-19 pandemic is the biggest health crisis of our time and many of the well known risk factors in mental illness, such as stress, loneliness and anxiety could be on the rise, according to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) (u.å.b). Aim: The purpose of the study is to collect information around the connection of the covid-19 pandemic and mental illness in the age span 18-44 in Sweden. Methods: A quantitative cross-sectional study that has collected data through an online survey where a convenience sample has been used. The survey was answered by 157 respondents of both sexes between the ages 18-44 and the result was analyzed with the help of descriptive analysis, cross tables and chi-square tests. Results: The result shows that there has been an increase of 7,1 percent amongst respondents that experience mental problems daily/a few times a week before the pandemic (19,7 percent) compared to the time during the pandemic (26,8 percent). Furthermore, 52,2 percent state that their mental well-being has worsened as a result of the pandemic. Conclusion: This study shows that the mental well-being of the respondents may have been worsened as a result of the covid-19 pandemic. The result of the study is not generalizable amongst the population of Sweden in the age span 18 to 44, as a convenience sample has been used. Further studies in the field that include more respondents may be necessary in the planning of future work of improving the mental health of those age group during and after the pandemic.

Abstract:
Background: Studies have shown an association between level of physical activity (PA) and mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, there is a lack of Swedish studies. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the association between physical activity and mental health in Swedish adults during the COVID-19 pandemic between February and March 2021. Methods: A survey consisting of the Swedish versions of GHQ-12 and IPAQ-SF was shared via Facebook and everyone between the ages of 18-65 and living in Sweden was eligible. Results: There was 134 participants in the survey and 72 completed answers. The median for MET-minutes per week was 2269 with no difference between the sexes (p=0.07). In contrast, there was a difference in mental health between the sexes; 52% of the women reported a worse mental health compared to 29% of the males (p=0.003). A significantly larger proportion of males than females maintained their level of PA (p=0.003). There was a fair, significant correlation between PA and mental health (r=-0.35, p=0.0024) where a higher level of PA was associated with better mental health. Also, a change in the level of PA during the pandemic was associated with mental health (r=-0.42, p=0.0039) where a decrease in PA was associated with worse mental health. Conclusion: This study demonstrates a correlation between physical activity and mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic in Sweden where a higher level of physical activity was associated with better mental health. However, further Swedish studies are needed to ensure these results.

Abstract:
The COVID-19 pandemic provides an important opportunity to understand how parenting stress during social crisis may predict child feeding practices and perceptions of child mealtime behaviors. The objective of the present study was to explore whether parents’ perceived increases in and overall levels of parenting stress during the pandemic were associated with controlling feeding practices and perceptions of child eating behaviors. Parents (n = 284) of 4–6-year-old children completed a cross-sectional online survey between March and April 2020. The survey assessed parents’ perceived change in parenting stress during the onset of the pandemic and levels of parenting stress during the pandemic (via the Parenting Stress Scale), as well as child feeding practices (via the Comprehensive Feeding Practices Questionnaire), and children’s eating behaviors (via the Child Eating Behavior Questionnaire). Ordinal linear regressions were used examine whether changes in and levels of parenting stress predicted use of controlling or responsive feeding practices and parents’ perceptions of child eating behaviors. The majority (63.7%, n = 181) of parents indicated their family was moderately or extremely emotionally affected by the pandemic and 56.7% (n = 161) indicated pandemic-related precautions had been moderately or extremely challenging. Perceived increases in parenting stress during the onset of the pandemic were associated with more frequent use of food as a reward (OR = 1.15, 95% CI = 1.04 – 1.26) and for emotional regulation (OR = 1.13, 95% CI = 1.04 – 1.23), as well as low child food responsiveness (OR = 0.91, 95% CI = 0.84 – 0.99) and lower odds of slow eating (OR = 0.92, 95% CI = 0.84 – 1.00). Higher overall levels of parenting stress were associated with more frequent use of food as a reward (OR = 1.05, 95% CI = 1.02 – 1.08) and for emotional regulation (OR = 1.05, 95% CI = 1.03 – 1.08) but also with use of pressuring feeding practices (OR = 1.03, 95% CI = 1.01 – 1.06) and encouraging a balanced diet less frequently (OR = 1.03, 95% CI = 1.01 – 1.06). Higher overall levels of parenting stress were associated with greater child food fussiness (OR = 1.05, 95% CI = 1.02 – 1.08), low enjoyment of food (OR = 1.05, 95% CI = 1.02 – 1.07), and low satiety responsiveness (OR = 0.95, 95% CI = 0.93 – 0.98). During the COVID-19 pandemic, increases in and high levels of parenting stress predicted parents’ use of food for emotion and behavioral regulation, but also with various domains of children’s eating behaviors. Results highlight the need for targeted efforts to support families during social crisis.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT - Mental health problems such as anxiety and depression have been reported frequently in recent years among students of veterinary medicine. However, few studies have focused on burnout in this specific population. This thesis includes two studies that contributed to the increase in knowledge about the mental health of students of veterinary medicine in Portugal. A survey was carried out at six masters of Veterinary Medicine in Portugal between April 29 and May 20, 2020. A total of 415 responses (16.6%) was obtained. The first study aimed to: estimate the prevalence of burnout in veterinary medicine students, using the Maslach Burnout Inventory - Student Survey; identify differences in the three dimensions of burnout (emotional exhaustion, depersonalisation and personal accomplishment) between school years; identify the academic and demographic factors that influence burnout; identify the significant stressors for burnout in each school year. This study demonstrated a moderate prevalence (29.9%) of burnout. In addition, 44.3% of students have a high level of emotional exhaustion, 56.6% of depersonalisation and 74.2% a low level of personal accomplishment. In the multivariate analysis, the factors associated with burnout were having a weak curriculum average and not recommending the veterinary course. The second study aimed to: assess the prevalence of anxiety during the COVID-19 pandemic; analyse risk factors and protective factors of anxiety during the pandemic; to assess the influence of online teaching on student anxiety. Of the 415 students, only 15.4% had no symptoms of anxiety, while the proportion of students with mild anxiety was 39.5%, moderate 21.4% and severe 23.6%. In the multivariate analysis, being male and studying at the University of Lisbon were protective factors from anxiety. Difficulty in sleeping, the stress associated with confinement and family conflicts, were risk factors for anxiety. Most veterinary medicine students (77%) were satisfied with online teaching. The university's adaptation to online teaching and time spent in online classes were significantly associated with anxiety. In the multivariate analysis, considering university adaptation to online education as bad or very bad were risk factors for anxiety. This study demonstrates that it is urgent to create measures to support students in burnout (or at risk of suffering burnout), as well as to invest in preventive measures.

Abstract:
Introduction: Physical activity is a preventative factor for mental health and during COVID-19 adult athletes have experienced a lot of their sports activities cancelled. Elite sports have been able to continue. However, dodgeball athletes representing their nation at events such as Dodgeball European Championships do not qualify as elite athletes and have therefore not been able to play to a certain extent due to restrictions and recommendations. Aim: This cross-sectional study aimed to compare the impact of strict COVID-19 restrictions in England and the recommendations given in Sweden between April 2020 and March 2021 on self-reported mental health among dodgeball players aged 20-35 competing at an international level. Method: A cross-sectional study survey was conducted through convenience sampling of n=22 English athletes and n=15 Swedish athletes aged 20 to 35 years old to conclude whether the lack of dodgeball had contributed to worse mental health. The data were analysed using chi-square in Microsoft Excel. Results: There were no statistical correlations between mental health and lack of playing dodgeball. Men did show increased feelings of anxiety in comparison with women between the period of April 2020 and March 2021. Conclusion: Male athletes showed increased feelings of anxiousness during the outbreak of COVID-19, there should be some investigations to figure out why.

Abstract:
Background Throughout the ages, humanity has been hit by pandemics. On March 11, 2020, Covid-19 was declared a pandemic caused by the SARS-Cov-2 virus. Pandemics affect both individuals and communities and usually require extraordinary efforts to prevent the spread of infection. The Swedish healthcare system has been under heavy pressure during the pandemic. The workload and the risks of nurses being exposed to high stress increase during pandemics. Stress can have a negative effect on nurses’ health. Aim: was to describe nurses’ experiences of working in the front line during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and the effect of nurses’ perceived health. Method: A systematic literature study was conducted to answer the purpose. A total of 13 articles have been analyzed and used as a basis for the results of the literature study. Result: The result emerged in two categories; nurses’ strengthened professional identity and nurses’ work in a changed environment. From these categories, three subcategories were identified each. Conclusion: The work in the front line means a stressful environment for nurses to work in. The nurses are affected both professionally and privately during the pandemic. The pandemic has forced the health service to make major changes that have affected nurses both positively and negatively. Fear, stress and anxiety occur but also a feeling of belonging and appreciation during a stressful period.

Abstract:
Background, this thesis describes the restrictions and recommendations that people have had to follow during the COVID-19 pandemic, and how these have led to a different and altered everyday life. College- and University students are one group that have been affected, especially since they had to switch from in-person learning to online platforms. There have been prior studies regarding the health of students and how their health has been affected during the pandemic, however the extent to which the occupational pattern of students has changed has been less explored. The purpose of this study was to investigate the change in student’s occupational patterns during the COVID-19 pandemic. The method that was used was a quantitative design. A convenience sample was used, and the respondents were recruited through social media platforms (Facebook). The population included 49 students. Descriptive statistics were used to describe the data that was collected from the survey. Results, the study showed a change in student’s occupational patterns during the COVID-19 pandemic and a connection was seen between loss of meaningful activities, satisfaction regarding their activity distribution, and perceived everyday balance. In conclusion, the overall changes in student’s occupational patterns had a negative effect. The authors expect that this study will lead to a higher understanding of the occupational patterns that relate to the health problems that can occur during situations such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract:
The aim of the study was to examine, based on school counselors’ experiences, the impact of the covid-19 pandemic on the mental health of upper secondary school students. To examine this, six qualitative interviews were conducted with school counselors currently working in upper secondary school. The results showed that some students have problems maintaining routines in everyday life during the covid-19 pandemic. The school entails an automatic structure that has disappeared for the students in connection with distance education during the pandemic. Distance education and other restrictions in society have also meant that students have spent more time at home, which means that a safe and supportive family has become increasingly important. As a result of upper secondary school students spending more time at home and not meeting their classmates at school to the same degree as before the pandemic, some have also lost or impaired their relationships with friends. This in turn has according to the informants, contributed to increased loneliness and isolation. Mental problems such as stress, anxiety, difficulty sleeping, and lack of motivation are common topics in the conversations between the school counselors and the students linked to the pandemic.

Abstract:
Pregnant and postpartum women often face high levels of psychological stress that increase the risk of common mental disorders (CMDs), such as depression and anxiety. This stress is often not met with timely mental health care and, therefore, may create health inequities. Mobile technology-assisted interventions represent a new opportunity for pregnant and postpartum women that may address health equity, especially during and after the COVID-19 era. We conducted an equity-focused systematic review and included 18 randomized and non-randomized controlled trials for analysis. Our results suggest that mobile interventions can prevent and manage depression across ethnicities and carry the potential to reduce psychological distress. Evidence on anxiety and utilization of care was limited and more research is needed among pregnant adolescents. Our collaborative research approach highlights the potential of mobile technologies and the need for active involvement of patients and other stakeholders in the co-creation and evaluation of mobile interventions.

Abstract:

Abstract:
The secondary impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on children and young people have been significant, including impacts on education, young people’s social lives, physical activity and mental health, as well as increased abuse. These impacts risk running into the long term, and in order to mitigate this, a better understanding of how children and young people’s lives have changed and the role they can play in driving solutions is needed.   UNICEF’s global Communication for Development (C4D) team has commenced a collaborative project with partners, the Children & Young People Participatory Research and Communication for Change Initiative, to better understand the experiences and perspectives of children and young people in the midst of the global COVID-19 pandemic, as well as to what extent they are able to be involved in developing solutions. As part of this initiative, desk reviews were carried out to establish the landscape of children and young people’s experience of issues in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as their participation in these issues.   This paper serves to narrow down the focus of the subsequent research to be undertaken by UNICEF and partners as part of the initiative, which will produce new information on children and young people’s experiences and participation in the context of COVID-19, and help build a model for children and young people’s participation to inform future UNICEF Communication for Development programmes. Through interviews and focus groups with UNICEF staff in the 11 participating country offices, this paper produces a set of recommendations for specific areas of research in terms of the key issues to be further investigated regarding children and young people’s participation in the context of COVID-19. It also demonstrates how using strengths-based and intersectional approaches to the research can bring subaltern youth voices in particular to the fore.

Abstract:
The unprecedented situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide is characterized by social isolation, separation from loved ones and limited freedom. These events have been identified as adversely affecting the mental health of the population, who suffer mainly from depression, anxiety symptoms, anger and fear feelings as well as sleep problems. Based on general strain theory (Agnew, 1992) combined with the changing opportunities in crime (routine activity theories), the aim of the survey was to examine the impact of the negative mental health during the second wave of COVID-19 lockdown, in violent behavior and substance use of individuals residing or living in Greece. A secondary objective formulated based on gendered approach for which men are expected to act more violently than women and females are expected to have poorer mental health than males. An online survey was conducted and disseminated through Facebook groups. Approval of the informed consent was one of the criteria for participation in the study. The collected data included demographic characteristics, information about mental health, violent behavior, and substance use, like alcohol drinking and smoking cigarettes during the lockdown. The ANOVA shown that there is not any significant impact of poor mentality in aggressive behavior and substance use which could be explained by considering the Greek cultural context. The results of independent samples T-test indicated that male indeed act more violently than female, and that women report poorer mental health than men. This finding is consistent with the gender approach and could be further explored through feminist theories. The results of this research purposes to give more insight into this kindly new phenomenon and to present a perspective that may differ from other countries not only in the kind of measures adopted, but also in the perception of individuals that disclose the cultural variation.

Abstract:
Title: MENTAL HEALTH INTERVENTION STRATEGIES FOR YOUTH IN RURAL NORTHEAST TN Introduction: A major need in Hawkins County entails lack of access to mental health resources. As a rural Appalachian county, this scarcity is especially felt by the area’s youth, who are subject to peer pressure, higher ACE scores, and may lack the autonomy to seek out professional help. Methods: The community-based intervention spanned in three consecutive weekly small-group sessions. Eligible participants were recruited from the afterschool program at the Boys and Girls Club of Hawkins County and must have been in the 5th to 8th grade (middle school) during the course of the study (n=13). Each participant completed a pre-intervention assessment, a series of short weekly surveys (one per session) and a post-intervention assessment to determine effectiveness and retention of the material presented. Statistical significance was determined using a paired T-Test. Results: Results did not provide any statistically significant relationships but trends were observed in perceived stress which decreased overall from pre-survey to post-survey (p=0.716), as did the self-reported use of negative coping strategies in the group (p=0.193). There was also a slight increase (p=0.653) in self-reported use of positive coping skills. A trend for greater change in the male participants was also observed. The mindfulness activity was perceived with a higher affinity than the baseline knowledge (Unpacking Mental Health) session (p=0.017). Conclusions: The results of this study suggest that short 1-hour interventions per week, especially those incorporating mindfulness strategies, can influence attitudes and coping strategies in rural adolescent children compared to mental health knowledge sessions alone (p=0.017). Trends in gender differences could underlie cultural and societal norms. Due to the limited number of mental health providers, evaluating behaviors were considered but not utilized. These trends, especially in mindfulness activities, could help further guide community partner mental health strategies for youth in rural Appalachia. Overall, these initial trends warrant further work in a much larger sample size and power of the study to draw definitive results.

Abstract:
This research qualitatively explores the impacts of the Helen B. Landgarten Art therapy Clinic’s transition to art therapy telehealth services during the COVID-19 pandemic. The purpose of this research was to explore the efficacy of interventions and the clinical themes that emerged as a result of telehealth art therapy services delivered to marginalized communities through the Helen B. Landgarten Art Therapy Clinic. Data that was collected includes anonymous surveys from administrators, teachers, and caregivers of those receiving services and facilitators of services, semi-structured interviews with administrators, teachers, and caregivers of those receiving services, as well as a focus group with facilitators of services. Through the analysis of data several findings suggest that art therapy telehealth can provide a safe space for engagement in mental health and be more accessible to marginalized communities. These findings potentially open new doors for further inquiry into art therapy telehealth.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to investigate the importance of relationships for students at Ersta Sköndal Bräcke University in Stockholm during the Covid-19 pandemic. A quantitative survey study has been used as a method to investigate whether the student’s network and social contacts were important to how they handle their life situation during the pandemic. Questions about their experience of stress, loneliness and mental health have been asked to get answers to how they have been affected by the restrictions in society where distance learning has been a major adjustment for students. The material has since been processed in the statistical program IBM SPSS Statistics (SPSS) and analyzed on the basis of relational social psychological theories such as Thomas J Scheff’s theory of Social ties, Symbolic interactionism and the theory of primary and secondary groups, as well as scientific articles. The result of the study shows that most students have stable networks where they prioritize more established and meaningful relationships and turn to the primary network when they need support which may be the reason why mental health becomes manageable. The result also indicates that students who have studied together for a longer period have stronger social ties to one another than those who have just begun their study journey together.

Abstract:

A global response to Covid‐19 pandemic has triggered issues related to stress and social restrictions; thus, mental health is seen as a particular area of concern for social well‐being for both policymakers and corporate regulators/companies. Given that mental health intersects with most, if not all, of the 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs), this research brought to light issues surrounding employment of people with mental disabilities (PWMDs) and the financial merits of employing them. An online survey was administered to PWMDs to elicit what possible flexible opportunities could enable them to gain or stay at work. Interviews were also conducted with human resource managers and financial managers. Our results show that there are currently no flexible working opportunities available for PWMDs, which could enable them work effectively to improve both self and general economic growth.

Blasko, Lynda Shane. "Coping Resources and Emotional Neglect among Individuals with a Sibling with a Mental Illness." Digital Archive @ GSU, 2008. http://digitalarchive.gsu.edu/cps_diss/19.

Full text
Abstract:
The experience of having a sibling with a mental illness affects well siblings in a myriad of ways (Marsh, 1998). In the present paper the term well siblings refers to those individuals who have a sibling with a mental illness but who do not have a mental illness themselves. They face unique stressors due to disruptions in the sibling relationship and in the family (Corrigan & Miller, 2004). The stressors commonly experienced by well siblings include stigma, objective and subjective burden, intense and conflicting emotions, disruptions in family of origin, interpersonal and intrapersonal difficulties, difficulties with the mental health system, and over reliance on maladaptive stress coping resources (Greenberg, Kim, & Greenley, 1997; Lukens, Thorning, & Lohrer, 2004; Marsh, 1998; Marsh & Dickens, 1997b; Riebschleger, 1991). Research describing disruptions in family of origin suggests that well siblings also are experiencing emotional neglect (Lukens et al.; Marsh; Marsh & Dickens). This paper presents a synthesis of literature on the stressors well siblings experience and their attempts at coping with stress. For this study, 133 participants completed 3 instruments: (a) demographics questionnaire, (b) the Coping Resources Inventory for Stress (Matheny, Curlette, Aycock, Pugh, & Taylor, 1987), a measure of perceived stress coping resources, and (c), the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (Bernstein & Fink, 1998), which includes an emotional neglect scale. Participants with siblings with a mental illness were compared with participants whose siblings do not have a mental illness. Results indicate significant relationships between well siblings and emotional neglect and between emotional neglect and effective stress coping. However no significant relationship was observed between well siblings and effective stress coping. Therefore, having a sibling with a mental illness seems a risk factor for emotional neglect, but is not itself a risk factor for poor stress coping. The present study suggests that it is emotional neglect which is a risk factor for poor stress coping. The clinical implications of these results are discussed as well as the research implications and limitations of the study.

Abstract:

Introduction: The worldwide commitment to increasing services and access to antiretroviral therapy have resulted in a decline in HIV related mortality. As a result, the focus of HIV care is shifting towards improving the psychological health and quality of life. HIV infected adolescents are a group with unique psychosocial challenges. Given that HIV self disclosure has been recognized as an important challenge affecting their physical as well psychological health it warrants further exploration. Methods: A qualitative study was conducted during September to November 2014 among adolescents (12-19years) attending the HIV care clinic at a tertiary hospital in Harare. Twenty adolescents who were vertically infected with HIV were recruited using purposive sampling techniques to achieve maximum variability in age and sex. In depth interviews were conducted to determine the views of adolescents regarding when, whom and how to self disclose. All the interviews were transcribed verbatim. Data was analyzed using the framework approach. Results: Adolescents identified stigma and discrimination from peers as well as lack of HIV knowledge as important barriers to status disclosure and suggested societal resources like support groups and media to assist them in the disclosure process. Conclusion: HIV status disclosure to others is a challenging task for adolescents and it can be affected by personal as well as social factors. In order to deal with disclosure dilemmas, we have to work with adolescents keeping all these factors in mind to assist them in decision making, there by facilitating healthy supportive relationships and contributing to the wellbeing of HIV-positive adolescents.

Abstract:
Through the lens of a participatory design (PD) approach, this study explored to find qualifying features and qualities of digital art materials, specifically art apps on iPads for art therapy use. The study comprised of two phases: 1) a questionnaire/interview of four art therapists using iPads with clients and 2) four separate focus groups with 15 art therapist and art therapist trainee participants involving multiple stages of cyclic feedback. The focus groups engaged in art directives with nine art making apps identified by the researcher and questionnaire respondents as potentially useful in art therapy. The results revealed that while there was no single commercial art app that satisfied the needs of all art therapists and vast range of clients’ technology skills, artistic abilities, stylistic preferences, and therapeutic needs, three distinct qualities and six concrete features of an “ideal” art app for art therapy use emerged. Additionally, the study’s results expanded the parameters of art therapy’s artmaking practice and visual vocabulary by illustrating digital art media’s potential therapeutic and expressive use. And most importantly, the protection of privacy and confidentiality of client’s digital artwork emerged as one of the most important issue to consider. While this paper discusses the limitless possibilities of digital art media’s meaningful usage in art therapy, it also acknowledges how its unique characteristics may require thoughtful limitations and restrictions.

Abstract:
Between March 11, 2020 and May of 2021, the World Health Organization (WHO) counted over 100 million cases of COVID-19, resulting in three million deaths worldwide (WHO, 2021). In order to examine the effects of art-making on social and psychological well-being, seven graduate students from the Marital and Family Art Therapy Program at LMU conducted the following study utilizing a qualitative, arts-based research approach through collaborative autoethnography (CAE). The research question — What are the effects of personal art-making on well-being during the COVID-19 pandemic? — was posed by the seven graduate student authors. The data revealed that pandemic-time art-making impacted well-being through three primary avenues: by acting as a means to cope, to adapt, and to process. Each of our emerging themes highlighted the use of art-making as a tool, and each theme described this phenomenon in a unique and pointed way. First, our art-making impacted our well-being during the pandemic by serving as a tool to cope with the stressors of the pandemic by minimizing, banishing, or making them tolerable. Going one step further than coping, art-making also served as a tool for adapting. It acted as the mediating force between the pandemic’s external impacts and our ensuing internal experiences. Finally, art-making impacted well-being throughout the pandemic by serving as a tool to process corporeal experiences, emotional experiences, and other personal realities. In order to build upon our findings, we propose future research on the impacts of personal art-making on wellness through collaborative autoethnography by participant-researchers representing diverse cultures within their social and environmental contexts.

Abstract:
The present investigation mentions that since the Peruvian State entered a health emergency, it generated a change in the daily routines for the Peruvian population. This sudden change affected the mental health of children under 11 years of age and I have taken into account for my study the population of inhabitants of Metropolitan Lima, therefore, the Ministry of Health (MINSA) for taking care of the mental health of children and girls, generated the approval of Ministerial Resolution No. 180-2020-MINSA that presented it as "Technical Guide for the care of Mental Health of the Affected Population, Families and Community, in the context of COVID.19" during the month of April 2020, where it mentions about care and self-care for mental health. However, the technical guide is a material that lacks information design, such as digital infographic. Consequently, the problem of information design or digital infographics was proposed as a diversity of solutions, but only one proposal met all the requirements of the main objective of the project, which is the material as a practical tool that helps mothers to care for children. your children from home, without the need to seek advice from a health staff. In the end, the material that best suited these needs was digital infographics because if it met the project objectives, the project also proposes the creation of this new material that is used not only for mothers of families, but also that it can be used by different people who are in charge of caring for a child.

Abstract:
Sammanlagt 75 ungdomar deltog i undersökningen.
The aim of this study was to examine the prevalence of cyberbullying, reactions and mental health associated with this new phenomenon. The method used was a cross sectional study with a web-based survey which was conducted on 18-19 year olds in high school. A total of 75 young adults completed the survey. The result showed that it was more likely to suffer from cyberbullying than traditional bullying. The victims of cyberbullying reported poorer health than non-affected and suffered from self-injuries, the most common reaction associated with cyberbullying was to feel sad and suffer from anxiety. Cyberbullying was more common at the college preparatory high school program. The conclusion that can be drawn is that cyberbullying is a widespread phenomenon among young adults and cyberbullying victims feel worse than non-affected and victims also suffered from suicidal thoughts. The school should create clear guidelines on how to handle cyberbullying, and these should continuously be monitored and communicated to staff and students. More research in this area is needed to investigate the causes and behavior of both victims and perpetrators to create methods to prevent and manage cases of cyberbullying.

Abstract:
Syfte.

The study involves 14 respondents who were invited to complete a Qualtrics survey as well as a process of arts-based inquiry. Researchers analyzed participants’ survey and art responses using an iterative collaborative process to identify emergent themes. These themes included a non-optional and internally-located drive to create; positive emotional, social, and physiological impacts associated with art-making and art-sharing; and, positive impacts on art practice associated with the pandemic. These findings emphasized the unique strengths and challenges associated with the professional artist identity.

Collins, Ricketts Joan. "The Lived Experiences of Adult Children of Mid to Later-life Parental Divorce: An Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis." NSUWorks, 2015. http://nsuworks.nova.edu/shss_dft_etd/19.

Full text
Abstract:
This study examined the lived experiences of adult children of mid-later life parental divorce. It was designed and conducted to address the gap in the current literature regarding this phenomenon. The experiences of 5 Adult Children of Divorce (ACD) ages 25 to 45, who experienced mid-later life parental divorce, were examined using in-depth semi-structured interviews. The researcher employed an interpretive phenomenological analysis (IPA) of which the findings illustrated various outcomes for adults experiencing their parents’ mid-later life divorce. The results of this study showed that parents’ waiting until the children are “grown” does not mitigate potentially detrimental outcomes for these “adult children.” Some of these concerns shared by the ACDs interviewed included: dealing with the shock of the divorce, the acrimonious parental relationships post divorce, feeling the need to choose sides, effects of the divorce on the ACDs' children, among others. Future studies and implications for the field of marriage and family therapy were offered.

Abstract:
Background: In December of 2019 a novel coronavirus was discovered in Wuhan, China. In March of 2020 the WHO declared a global pandemic regarding the COVID-19 outbreak. The viral infection caused ARDS, which resulted in a number of patients requiring assisted mechanical ventilation. The high influx of patients in need of intensive care, quickly exceeded the capacity of the Intensive Care Units (ICU: s). This in turn increased the workload of intensive care unit nurses, leading to a reallocation of registered nurses and nurse anesthetists to increase the workforce.  Purpose: To describe the experiences of an intensive care unit nurse working with patients diagnosed with COVID-19 in an intensive care unit.   Method: The method was based on an integrated literature study. A total of nine articles were included and a content analysis according to Graneheim and Lundman (2004) was implemented.  Findings: The nurses reported several different experiences regarding intensive care of patients diagnosed with COVID-19. These were presented under the theme “To keep moving forward despite adversity”. The theme was further subcategorised into four different categories; “Physical and psychological execration”, “To feel alone”, “Fear for the virus” and “Sense of belonging”.   Conclusion: The organizational changes imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic caused ethical dilemmas and moral distress. The civil society provided the ICU nurses with a strong incentive to continue to provide care for patients diagnosed with COVID-19.

Abstract:
Syfte.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Background The covid-19 pandemic affects individuals both through incidence of disease and imposed restrictions. Abstract:
Introduction Africa has had several outbreaks of Ebola (EVD). The West African EVD outbreak 2014-2016 was themost devastating with more than 28 000 cases and more than 11 000 deaths. It started in Guinea andspilled over the border to Sierra Leone and Liberia. In 2018–2020, there was an outbreak of EVD inDemocratic Republic of Congo (DRC), which spilled over the border to Uganda. Due to the outbreaksof EVD, the affected countries have built capacity to respond to epidemics.AimThe aim of the study is to describe the capacity that was built-up to respond to EVD outbreaks andhow the capacity has aided the countries in their first six months of response to COVID-19 in Liberia,Guinea, Sierra Leone, Uganda and DRC. Methods The study is a systematic literature study. Results The three West African countries were severely affected by EVD because of weak health systems, ahistory of civil conflicts, porous borders and the fact that the EVD could spread to several locationsbefore it was discovered. The West African countries have with international help built up capacityagainst epidemics that has been used in response to COVID-19. The EVD outbreak in DRC had a moreswift response since there has been capacity building on an African and International level since theWest African outbreak. Conclusion The African countries in this study have been able to use capacity that was built-up to respond to EVDin their response to COVID-19, despite of the fact that they still have weak health systems with lack ofresources.
