Abstract:
Abstract Most popular films and television programs reflect, and thereby reinforce, the common and entrenched cultural perception of aging as the “enemy” of vital living. Aging used to be kept at bay in popular films and TV programs through a stereotyping that allowed ridicule and avoidance. Today, such overt negative portrayals have begun to fall out of favor but are being replaced by a subtler form of ageism—that of “super-aging” where older adults who are seen as successfully holding onto their youthful ways are celebrated and held up as models of “successful” aging. This presentation will give an overview of how most popular films and television programs frame the experience of older adulthood, and will illustrate this with clips from such films. Then, in contrast, clips will be presented from films that present a more holistic and balanced view of elderhood.

Before WWII, Jadwiga Andrzejewska 1915–1977) was among the most popular actresses in Polish cinema. During WWII she acted in the Dramatic Theatre of the Polish Second Corps. Returning to her hometown Łódź in 1947 Andrzejewska was initially perceived by the Polish authorities as politically uncertain. Her notable theatrical roles included the heroine in A Woman of Wonder and the heroine in Mother Courage and Her Children. Although she lived in Łódź – a capital of Polish cinema – her film career languished after the war. She had bit parts in about thirty feature films (among them television films). Abstract:
A 1964 television series, “Profiles in Courage,” based on the late President John F. Kennedy's Pulitzer prize-winning book, featured the life of Mary Stone McDowell, a quiet, yet strong, teacher. Within peace circles, McDowell was a well-known figure. It was not unusual to see her marching in peace demonstrations or handing out antiwar literature at street meetings in the rain, snow, sleet and hot days in the summer. It was not out of the ordinary to read her editorials urging war tax resistance and certainly not surprising to those who knew her to draw strength from her courage and convictions. Yet what captured the interest of the show's producers was the stand she took during World War I. This quiet, unassuming Phi Beta Kappa graduate from Swarthmore College, and Quaker public school teacher in New York City, became the first educator in American history to test the constitutionality of the newly enacted loyalty oaths on religious, rather than political, grounds.

Abstract:
In 1876, an American newspaperman with the US 7th Cavalry, Mark Kellogg, declared: ‘I go with Custer, and will be at the death.’ This overtly heroic pronouncement embodies what many still want to believe is the greatest role in journalism: to go up to the fight, to be with ‘the boys’, to expose yourself to risk, to get the story and the blood-soaked images, to vividly describe a world of strength and weakness, of courage under fire, of victory and defeat—and, quite possibly, to die. So culturally embedded has this idea become that it raises hopes among thousands of journalism students worldwide that they too might become that holiest of entities in the media pantheon, the television war correspondent. They may find they have left it too late. Accompanied by evolutionary technologies and breathtaking media change, TV war reporting has shifted from an independent style of filmed reportage to live pieces-to-camera from reporters who have little or nothing to say. In this article, I explore how this has come about; offer some views about the resulting negative impact on practitioners and the public; and explain why, in my opinion, our ‘right to know’ about warfare has been seriously eroded as a result. Abstract:
The Church must tirelessly seek appropriate means and language to effectively proclaim every person’s universal vocation to salvation. Today’s witnesses to the Gospel should use the potential of old and new means of communication in preaching and ministry. Above all, they should revive in themselves the courage to settle on ‘new areopaguses’. The most important goal of evangelization is to bring every person to an encounter with Christ, who is the main content of the proclaimed Good News. The authors of this monograph did not forget about it. By showing both the enormous possibilities and certain limitations of the new media in proclaiming the Gospel to the world, they first asked themselves whether those countless texts, images and sounds that fill today’s periodicals, radio, television, film truly reflect the face of Christ and let His voice be heard.

Abstract:
The origins and use of national space rhetoric used by NASA, the US government, and the media in America began during the Cold War era and relied, in part, on religious imagery to convey a message of exploration and conquest. The concept of space as a “New Frontier” was used in political speech, television, and advertising to reawaken a sense of manifest destiny in postwar America by reviving notions of religious freedom, courage, and exceptionalism—the same ideals that originally drove expansionist boosters first to the New World and then to the West. Using advertisements, political speeches, NASA documents, and other media, this paper will demonstrate how this rhetoric served to reinforce a culture held by many Americans who maintained a long tradition of believing that they were called on by God to settle New Frontiers and how this culture continues to influence how human spaceflight is portrayed today.

Several of the novels of the Spanish writer Vicente Blasco Ibanez (1867–1928) have provided the basis for theatrical adaptations: but the version of The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (1916) by Peter Granger-Taylor, staged in March 1990 at the Citizens Theatre, Glasgow, was the first for sixty years. In the following feature, Ian Craven, who teaches in the Department of Theatre, Film, and Television Studies at the University of Glasgow, provides a full account of Jon Pope's production, considering questions of adaptation, performance, and response, and also paying special attention to the influence of the screen versions of 1921 and 1962. His analysis is complemented by extracts from an interview with the adapter and director. Putsіata, Iryna. "INFORMATIONAL IMPACT OF TELECONTENT ON VIEWERS’ PSYCHE IN COVERING THE RUSSIAN-UKRAINIAN WAR (CASE STUDY OF ALL-UKRAINIAN CHANNELS." Bulletin of Lviv Polytechnic National University: journalism 2, no. 8 (2024): 24–32. http://dx.doi.org/10.23939/sjs2024.02.024.

Abstract:
The purpose of this article is to study the informational impact of television content on the psyche of the viewer in the coverage of the Russian-Ukrainian war (on the example of all-Ukrainian channels). Research methodology. Intelligence is based on the following methods: analytical-synthetic, generalization, modeling, forecasting, evaluation of the artistic and informational value of the material, etc. The novelty of the study. The article proves that TV channels, forcing viewers to become virtual witnesses of war events, broadcast stress on them, which can often cause mental trauma or posttraumatic stress disorder. Conclusions. During hostilities, information security becomes especially important, as incorrect or erroneous information can lead to panic, influence the course of events, accelerate internal migration of the population, and negatively affect the image of the state’s top military-political leadership. It can also undermine trust in politicians, their statements and messages, which in turn can affect the conduct of hostilities and harm the expected results of a military conflict. The above fully applies to the audience’s reaction to the coverage of war events by domestic TV channels. Since February 24, 2022, Ukrainian television has been constantly covering events at the front and in the occupied territories, reporting on the enemy’s losses and the successes of the Ukrainian military, recording the crimes of the Russian army, and also telling the stories of war witnesses. In the first weeks of the aggression, Ukrainian television quickly changed its thematic priorities, preferring materials about military events to news about politics, community life, culture, and ecology. This was caused by the fight against Russian propaganda and caused an increase in the quality of Ukrainian television products. In a situation of uncertainty and anxiety, when the picture of the day changes rapidly, the demand for a high-quality analytical product is increasing. Thus, from February 25, 2022, all channels joined the joint project called «Single Marathon», which is coordinated on the basis of the parliamentary TV channel «Rada». Among the factors that increase the traumatic nature of the materials of domestic television channels about the war with Russia: showing a person «by surprise» in a moment of acute grief or despair; demonstration of torture, moral and physical abuse; direct or indirect justification of the aggressor’s actions, showing his triumph and impunity; emphasis on the uncertainty, absurdity of the situation taking place, on the disorganization, chaotic nature of the applied measures; relishing cruelty, giving «bloody» details; disbelief in the future, the image of the situation as hopeless (any possible solution is a tragedy). Among the factors that weaken trauma: faith in the future (orientation on overcoming the tragedy, affirming the possibilities of a better future); clear moral orientation of the audience, emphasis on the basic values of life; examples of resilience and courage of people who got into the war, a description of cases of active resistance; expressing support for the Armed Forces; a call for the unification of all the forces of society, a demonstration of the solidarity of people within the country, a demonstration of the support of the world community

Abstract:
Campus journalism is a place for students to develop their potential in the journalism field. Students who are agents of change not only provide quality news but also provide moral value in the news production process. Quality news can be raised through the role of a journalist in writing news (information). Prophetic journalism is a journalistic concept taken from the nature of the prophets. In this paper, we examine the application of the concept of prophetic journalism –journalism that imitates the prophetic characteristics of the Prophet Muhammad– among campus journalists. Prophet Muhammad is known for his four characteristics: siddiq (delivering accurate information), amanah (trustworthy as a source of information), tabligh (delivering information in its entirety), fathanah (a journalist is required to be smart in revealing the truth of the news). The data from this study is the result of observations from the daily life of the researcher when carrying out the news production process with other campus journalists ranging from electronic media (radio & television), print, and online. The results of this study indicate that campus journalists at UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya apply prophetic journalism well. By implementing the prophetic characteristics of the Prophet Muhammad when carrying out journalistic activities, journalists can maintain the professionalism of journalists. By using ethnographic research methods or commonly referred to as field research, researchers make observations as the main data and are equipped with in-depth interviews with several campus journalists. We also propose the nature of Prophet Ibrahim to be incorporated into the concept of prophetic journalism as well. Prophet Ibrahim is known for the story of his courage to seek the truth and reveal it when everyone was against it. This courage is important in supporting journalistic activities among students and professionals.

Abstract:
Jordanian cultural space has been dominated by the abstract figure of the nashmi, an Arabic word of obscure origin denoting chivalry, generosity, hospitality and courage. It has become indelibly associated with East-Banker Jordanian masculinity, specifically with national emblems including army, police, and civil defence officers, and national sports teams. Palestinian-Jordanian masculinities owe their cultural constructs to a different set of socio-economic and political contingencies that situate them in the much-poorer refugee camps of East Amman. This article aims to explore how the Jordanian channel Roya TV has afforded a platform to comedy productions that entrench the figure of the fringe masculinity of the dawanji (trouble-makers) as an antidote to the mainstream masculinity of the nashmi who dominates state-owned television and radio stations, and virtually all cultural media of representation. Adopting an affective-discursive approach through a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the top 200 episodes of the most viewed comedy shows on Roya TV, the article will argue that the emphasis on the figure of the dawanji has resulted in high levels of physical and verbal aggression and extremely negative portrayals of female characters on these comedy shows which are widely watched by both adults and children.

Abstract:
Abstract: This paper describes an analysis of sexism that maintains a popular Japanese cartoon, “Digimon”. This program was first broadcast in Spain in 2000 and actually, continues to transmit the image of traditionalist gender roles to children who watch the program. We have compared the main personal characteristics that the program gives each one of the characters based on their sex and the goals they have achieved in the first two seasons of this longlived program, with the new audio-visual material that was introduced in 2015. Also we did a denotative analysis of four chapters of the first season, randomly selected, and the first four chapters of his final season. Conclusions are clear; in both materials, the male protagonists and their companions represent typical male stereotypes: strong leadership and importance of courage and strength; while women represent classic female roles: submissive attitude toward the group leader, great capacity for auto-sacrifice or show affection for each other. Abstract:
The article examines the psychological characteristics of young people who drink alcohol, investigates the reasons for it and intensity of alcohol consumption. The propensity of young people to various addictions (addictive behaviour) and its connection with people's impulsivity are analysed. Ukrainian youth who have experience in alcohol drinking usually tried it firstly in adolescence. At the same time, the respondents most often did not mention problems with alcohol in their families, but a third of them recorded such problems, and almost half of the respondents noted that they had experienced physical or psychological violence from a drunken relative. Among the reasons for alcohol drinking, the following were predominant: as a way to distract from problems, improve mood, achieve courage or solve internal problems. Among young people, the strongest addictions were addictions to a healthy lifestyle, television, food or work. Alcohol, romantic relations, medicals, smoking, interpersonal relations and computer usage (internet, social networks) as types of addictions were at an average level. The least pronounced were religious, gambling and drug addictions. There were gender differences in susceptibility to addictions (addictive behaviour). Boys, compared to girls, had higher propensity to romantic relations, drugs and interpersonal relationships as addictions and lower propensity to addiction to medical substances. Peculiarities of personal impulsivity, its links with alcohol consumption were studied. Impulse control disorder influenced on youth's propensity to drinking, increasing alcohol drinking frequency. People with higher impulsivity, who were more prone to imbalance manifestations and more strongly influenced by external factors, were more vulnerable to the risk of developing alcohol and food addictions, addictions to a healthy lifestyle, smoking or interpersonal relationships.

Abstract:
On the 18th of January we lost Boris Maksimovich Firsov (1929–2024), a scientist of exceptional magnitude and a person of extraordinary civic courage. He most certainly can be regarded as a man of different eras with rich and diverse life experience. Early on in his career he held high-ranking management positions, and he would later go on to conduct complex scientific and organizational operations in the field of sociology. His research covered various strata, states of mass consciousness, the history of sociology, and in more recent years — social history. Boris Firsov is responsible for establishing the Sociology institute of the RAS, he was the founder and first rector of the European University at St. Petersburg. He was frequently mentioned by his colleagues in their writing, and in the year 2021 a book by V. Vyzhutovich titled “Boris Firsov” came out as part of the “Life of remarkable people. Biography continues” book series. The author of this article had been a friend and colleague of Firsov for half a century, and as such is in a position to detail certain aspects about the life of Mr. Firsov and his scientific research that are not well known to the public. The article goes into B. Firsov’s involvement in the world of theater: his significant contribution to putting together a play called “Springtime at the LETI” [Leningrad Electro-Technical Institute] (1953) which was an early symbol of the political thaw; the script he wrote for a play called “The Death of Vazir-Mukhtar” (1969) that never got to be shown on television and was based on a novel by Yuri Tynyanov; him participating in a one-of-a-kind project known as “Sociology and theater” (1973–1989).

Abstract:
The article discusses film motifs focused on the image of a militiaman, a Security Service agent, a prison guard, a soldier, a border guard, and a fireman in Polish television and cinema films. In order to capture the image of the uniformed services of the Polish People’s Republic as broadly as possible, all such motifs available to the Polish viewer were analyzed, but film genres were not distinguished as a separate criterion. In a chronological sense, the author focuses on films shot after March ’68, only mentioning earlier ones. This caesura seems important because after the brutal actions of the Citizens’ Militia against Polish intellectuals in March 1968 and the intervention of the Armed Forces of the Polish People’s Republic in Czechoslovakia in August of that year, the party and state authorities wanted to influence a positive image of the uniformed services among Polish society. The chronological framework ends in 1990 – the last year when it comes to the cinema screens of works shot in the People’s Republic of Poland. The image of uniformed services that emerges from the analysis is multicolored and multifaceted. Certainly, a common feature is the portrayal of Poles wearing uniforms as punitive, disciplined, and humble towards the authorities. There are many more differences. It is basic to distinguish between rank-and-file officers or soldiers and officers. The former are often not very intelligent and are often ridiculed, especially the militiamen. Officers are often portrayed in an exemplary manner, as intelligent men with a high level of personal culture. Both of them have courage. The image of a militiaman was presented most fully, while the image of a customs officer, a border guard, and a fireman was presented least well.

Abstract:
In 2009, Lawrence Kutner, a character on television’s House, M.D., unexpectedly committed suicide. A Facebook memorial group was created shortly thereafter in memory of the fictional character. A thematic analysis of fan postings on Kutner’s Facebook memorial page revealed evidence of people experiencing parasocial grief as they displayed emotional expressions of grief, reminisced, and advocated for Kutner. Through thematic analysis, we discovered that elements of parasocial relationships, particularly parasocial breakups, were apparent as the members posted evidence of their grief over the loss of a television character. Moreover, this parasocial grief is likely to be disenfranchised, as the death of a television character is typically not recognized by others as a legitimate loss. This study also highlighted the role of social media as an outlet for grief as well as revealed confusion between fiction and reality resulting from social media.

AbstractFour years of televising a university course for delivery to an audience of agricultural producers provides some reflections on the feasibility of combining traditional classroom instruction with in-depth extension educational programs. There are a sizable number of active agricultural producers who are eager to study academic topics in greater depth than could be obtained in traditional workshops or seminars. It seems possible to overcome many obstacles that earlier suggested distance education via television was not feasible from an administrative, budgetary or client acceptance point of view. The results seem worth the effort, with the providing institution benefiting from increased national recognition.

With the development of the creative industry in Indonesia, the world of television and radio in Indonesia must of course also have to develop for mutual progress. With so many media to enjoy entertainment and information, television and radio are still the choice of some Indonesian people. Nevertheless, television and radio are slowly being abandoned by the community because of other mediums that are present in this industry. In the television industry itself is being rivaled by a streaming platform that presents watching whenever and wherever, it becomes one of the challenges of the television industry to develop. The radio industry has also begun to compete with streaming platforms capable of delivering any song anywhere for its users. Abstract:
After years of debate, and pages of parliamentary reports, the House of Commons has agreed in principle to allow the televising of its proceedings, both in the Chamber and in Select Committee hearings.’ The purpose of this article is to consider the application of parliamentary privilege to the broadcasting of Parliament by radio or television. The issue of parliamentary privilege arises because of the absolute privilege’ of freedom of speech for Members, which enables them in the course of ‘proceedings in Parliament’ to say or do something which, had it been said or done elsewhere, could have given rise to civil or criminal liability by the person concerned. Absolute privilege exists because it is of outstanding public importance that Members should be able to speak their minds, and this outweighs any consequential harm that may be suffered by an individual or the State. Examples of the use of the protection of absolute privilege are the making of a statement that appears to be defamatory, and the oral commission of one of a variety of criminal offences.

Abstract:
Artificial intelligence technology has transformed television content and production methods and resulted in the development of a new generation of artificially intelligent Television. Popularising artificial intelligence technology improves television programme content, categories, cost, and efficiency. Virtual reality (VR) technology has been widely used in scientific study and everyday life; thus, its use in film and television animation (FTA) teaching has been researched to promote FTA learning. First, learning design uses dynamic environment modelling, real-time 3D graphic production, stereoscopic displays, sensors, and other VR technologies. These four issues were researched due to the present FTA primary teaching method. VR technology enhances FTA's basic training teaching, and the 3D animation course and VR technology increase professional skill course teaching. The application effect compares and analyses classroom satisfaction, comprehensive quality evaluation, and professional core curriculum effect. The VR technology group's thorough quality evaluation is significantly improved, and students' satisfaction with classroom atmosphere, teaching style, and teaching facilities is 85%, 78%, and 97.34%, respectively. This group can incorporate the new design process into animation modelling and finish the course design work well. Compared to traditional instruction, pupils are happier and harvest more. Thus, VR technology in FTA instruction can increase student engagement, efficiency, and professional knowledge and abilities. After analysing its application mode and effects, VR technology can be used in FTA teaching.

PurposeSocial cognitive theory (SCT) suggests that the observation of role models prompts the formation of beliefs that will govern future behaviors. The paper's objective is to explore the perceived influence of television media on feelings about eating habits, body image, clothing styles, and physical attractiveness attributes by high schools students in terms of SCT.Design/methodology/approachData on attitudes and perceptions were collected using an online survey of a convenience sample of high school students (n=467) to determine influence of television media characters on behaviors.FindingsThe results of this survey suggest that high school students do not indiscriminately model behaviors depicted by television programs, but may selectively incorporate some views that fit with their reality such as the importance of attractiveness in romantic partners, but not influences of clothing styles or eating habits.Research limitations/implicationsRecognition of the fictional quality of television characters does not refute that they have influence on the high school respondents, but it does suggest some degree of cognitive recognition about the lack of reality of television characters. The convenience sample of adolescents may be more media‐savvy than others because of associations with high‐school journalism programs.Originality/valueHigh school students do not indiscriminately model behaviors depicted by television programs, but may selectively incorporate some views that fit with their reality in accordance with SCT.

Abstract:
Background: Watching television is a common leisure activity, not least among older people. However, watching television may become difficult when it is disturbed by symptoms of dementia. Method: A total of 284 questionnaires were handed out to relatives of people with dementia in Iceland, in the Memory Clinic of the University Hospital and in specialized units for people with dementia (6 day-care units and 8 units within nursing homes). The response rate was just below 58%. Results: Watching television was shown to play a less important role in the course of the daily life of people with dementia as soon as the symptoms of the disease became evident, and it increasingly became less relevant. So, this previous leisure activity left an ever-growing void of time to fill. However, watching television may provide an important social context for contact and togetherness during the progress of the disease, as watching television with someone close to them was important for the individuals with dementia. Conclusion: It is not a viable option for people with dementia to watch television on their own, but they may enjoy watching television while sharing this activity with a person close to them. This may even provide quality time.

Abstract:
Abstract Sleep complaints and disorders are one of the most common disturbances to health and well-being in later life. Evening electronic media use has been shown to influence the subsequent quantity and quality of sleep, but most research focused on younger age groups who are more likely to use new media (e.g., social media) to replace or complement traditional mass media such as television. To investigate how different types of evening media use is related to sleep in later life, we used ecological momentary assessment data from the Daily Experiences and Well-being Study (N = 231; Mage = 73.61) to examine how evening computer use and television viewing affect subsequent sleep hours and perceived sleep quality. Across all evening assessments, 43% of the evenings were spent using computers, and 80% of the evenings were spent watching television. Findings from a series of within-between random effects models indicated that evening computer use and television viewing had independent associations with sleep quantity and quality. That is, older adults reported fewer hours of sleep, more difficulty falling asleep, and worse overall sleep quality on nights following the evening computer use. In contrast, evening television viewing was associated with feeling less tired the next day morning. The results highlight the continued presence of television viewing in older adults’ daily lives and their distinction from general computer use. The social context in which older adults watch television in the evening may potentially explain how different electronic media use influences sleep in later life.

Abstract:
The application of artificial intelligence technology in the film and television field has profoundly changed the content and production methods of television programs and promoted the development and production of a new generation of artificial intelligence television. The popularization of artificial intelligence technology is conducive to improving the quality of television program content, innovating content categories, reducing television program production cost, and improving production efficiency. Due to the popularization and the use of virtual reality (VR) technology in scientific research and social life, the application of VR technology has been studied from the perspective of film and television animation (FTA) teaching, hoping to promote the development of FTA education. First, the existing dynamic environment modeling technology, real-time three-dimensional (3D) graphic generation technology, stereoscopic display, and sensor technology and other VR technologies are combined to carry out teaching design. In view of the current situation of the teaching process of FTA major, the research on these four aspects has been carried out. VR technology is used as an auxiliary teaching tool to complete the basic course teaching of FTA; the 3D animation course and VR technology are combined to improve the teaching effect of professional skill courses. Then, in the application effect, classroom satisfaction, comprehensive quality evaluation, and professional core curriculum effect are compared and analyzed. The results show that the students’ comprehensive quality evaluation in VR technology group is significantly improved, and the satisfaction of classroom atmosphere, teaching mode, and teaching facilities are 75%, 61%, and 81%, respectively. The students in this group can better integrate the new design method into the animation modeling and complete the course design task with high quality. Compared with the traditional teaching mode, the students’ satisfaction is higher and the harvest is greater. Therefore, the use of VR technology in FTA teaching can stimulate students’ interest in learning, improve learning efficiency, and promote the mastery of professional knowledge and skills. The application mode and effect analysis of the proposed VR technology provide a reference for the application of VR technology in FTA teaching.

As a research area, children and television is in trouble. Even though its chief subject — television — has not yet reached the status of a ‘serious’ pursuit for researchers, the social, political and commercial pressures in this area are very strong for research results which are conclusive, reliable and relevant. It is too much to ask of any one study, of course, but even with generous funding, especially in the USA, the answers to urgent questions are not conclusive. There remains a disjunction between die broad social questions about children and television and the individualised, even behaviouristic ways of thinking about this area stick dominant in research practice.

Abstract:
This article explores middlebrow culture on early 1980s television and the narrative structures and visual politics employed. The focus lies on Remington Steele (1983‐87) and Magnum, P.I. (1980‐88) as two middlebrow TV series that emphasize the male lead and link in with shifts in the visual culture of the era. Both series function within frameworks of middlebrow TV and visually focus on their male heroes’ bodies. The article analyses the term middlebrow in 1980s television and develops this concept more by exploring narrative structure and what Horace Newcomb has termed the ‘cumulative narrative’. The article then moves on to discuss the visual framing of the male lead as directed by an assumed heterosexual female gaze. In the course of this, it examines the parameters of the televisual image and the conditions that frame objectification on television. Due to the focus on a heterosexual female gaze, middlebrow television becomes strongly linked with women’s culture. This allows for conclusions surrounding the construction of the middlebrow, masculinity and early 1980s television culture. Exploring this cultural politics, and thus revealing a cultural hierarchy, is deemed important here, as it allows for an analysis of the role of nostalgia, both in 1980s and more contemporary television cultures going forward.

Abstract:
Within the context of canonization processes, the career course of the British television dramatist Dennis Potter presents a unique case. Potter's career illustrates an instance of a dramatist also acting as a multifunctional media figure, who superseded the ‘typical’ primary makers of reputation (e.g. critics and academics) in shaping the perceptions of his work and in promoting his dramatic standing. Potter's authoritative power was facilitated by the infancy of television reviewing and television drama in the early 1960s. Given the innovative nature of his dramas, often extremely controversial, the reputation he achieved was largely the effect of his acquired fame as a media figure and, particularly, the evaluative criteria he himself established as a pioneering television critic: an expertise he further exploited as major commentator on his own work, all of which not only conditioned the reception of his works, but also influenced their eventual critical acclaim.

Introduction: The change in television broadcasts from analog to digital certainly provides benefits for the community, including good image and sound quality. Television is one type of electronic media that can be used as a tool or intermediary to achieve certain goals. Of course, an understanding of this condition needs to be conveyed to the public so that they do not feel disadvantaged due to this policy. Methods: The qualitative approach in this research is used to obtain in-depth data, by analyzing and collecting data that has been obtained, namely Hermeneutic content analysis because it can describe the characteristics of the message and description so that the meaning and purpose of the message can be concluded. The classification of the analysis used is semantic content analysis, which is carried out to classify signs according to their meaning. Results: The Ministry of Communication and Information regularly informs about the transition of analog TV broadcasts to digital TV, of course, it is necessary to add a Set Top Box (STB) device to capture the digital broadcast. However, there are still many people who complain about this change so that they can no longer watch television broadcasts and also need more devices. In response to public unrest, Kemkominfo provided free STBs and education about the advantages of digital broadcasts. Discussion: The statements or content conveyed on Twitter @kemkominfo contain elements of information, education, and a description of the benefits of digital television systems. This will certainly change the mindset of the public regarding the existence and benefits of using digital television broadcasts.

Abstract:
Although the film and television media sector is seeing significant growth, there is still a lag in film and television media majors at colleges and institutions. As a result, the colleges must keep pace with the current development trend. In order to better prepare students for the film and television industry, film and television media majors must rethink their teaching methods and promote students’ artistic ideas and professional skills. In the context of surging numbers of students and limited teaching resources, traditional teaching has highlighted many problems. Some film and television media majors have set up corresponding computer courses to make up for the deficiencies of traditional teaching through computer multimedia technology and network technology. This work is oriented to the design of computer courses for film and television media majors. First, this work aims at the current situation of computer courses in film and television media majors, analyzes the existing problems and causes, and explores ways to solve them. Second, this work proposes the IGA-BP model based on neural network to evaluate the teaching quality of computer courses for film and television media majors. In view of the excellent global optimization ability of GA and the defects of the BP algorithm itself, this work adopts the improved GA algorithm to optimize the BP network, and establishes an IGA-BP network combination model with higher prediction accuracy. Third, this work has carried out sufficient experiments, and the experimental results have verified that the IGA-BP network can effectively evaluate the teaching quality of computer courses in film and television media majors. In addition, the comparative experiment also verifies that the computer course design scheme proposed in this work can effectively improve the teaching quality.
