Abstract:
The role of services globalization in inclusive growth is already getting attention in the literature. We add to this literature using India as a case study. India's state-level services value added and employment data studied in this paper reveal that globalization-induced opportunities are filtering down to the country's high per capita income states. More significantly, our empirical analysis, motivated by the New Economic Geography literature and the work of Davis and Weinstein (1996, 1999, 2003), suggests that these opportunities are also creating demand linkages throughout the country. Moreover, the wider network of sub-national demand linkages may be getting formed independently of historical income, skill or locational advantages, which has potentially generalizable implications for other services-globalization-led economies.

Abstract:
In recent years, China's demand for satellite remote sensing images increased. Thus, the country launched a series of satellites equipped with high-resolution sensors. The resolutions of these satellites range from 30 m to a few meters, and the spectral range covers the visible to the near-infrared band. These satellite images are mainly used for environmental monitoring, mapping, land surface classification and other fields. However, haze is an important factor that often affects image quality. Thus, dehazing technology is becoming a critical step in high-resolution remote sensing image processing. This paper presents a rapid algorithm for dehazing based on a semi-physical haze model. Large-scale median filtering technique is used to extract large areas of bright, low-frequency information from images to estimate the distribution and thickness of the haze. Four images from different satellites are used for experiment. Results show that the algorithm is valid, fast, and suitable for the rapid dehazing of numerous large-sized high-resolution remote sensing images in engineering applications.

Abstract:
Brunei is seeing a proliferation of bottled companies established in the country in the last decade, driven by cheap water supplies, easily available water filtering systems and demand by the public. This research found 16 ‘companies,’ ‘producing’ and distributing over 34 brands of bottled waters in the country. Since bottled water industry is ‘popular,’ it is necessary to understand how the industry is being monitored and regulated by the government as it involved products consumed by the public. Since most of the bottled water companies use water drawn from the pipes supplied by the government, it is also important to understand how the government is protecting, monitoring and regulating this valuable resource from exploitation. This paper is a preliminary research on the bottled water industry in Brunei Darussalam.

Abstract:
The object of this research was to develop an international market screening methodology which selects highly attractive markets, allowing for the ranges in diversity amongst organisations, countries and products. Conventional business thought is that, every two to five years, dynamic organisations which conduct business internationally should decide which additional foreign market or markets to next enter. If they are internationally inexperienced, this will be their first market; if they are experienced, it might be, say, their 100th market. How should each organisation select their next international market? One previous attempt has been made to quantitatively test which decision variables, and what weights, should be used when choosing between the 230 countries of the world. The literature indicate that a well-informed selection decision could consider over 150 variables that measure aspects of each foreign market's economic, political, legal, cultural, technical and physical environments. Additionally, attributes of the organisation have not been considered when selecting the most attractive short-list of markets. The findings presented in the dissertation are that 30 criteria accounted for 95 per cent of variance at cross-classification rates of 95 per cent. The weights of each variable, and the markets selected statistically as being the most attractive, were found to vary with the capabilities, goals and values of the organisation. Abstract:
Image processing offers medical diagnosis and it overcomes the shortcomings faced by traditional laboratory methods with the help of intelligent algorithms. It is also useful for remote quality control and consultations. As machine learning is stepping into biomedical engineering, there is a huge demand for devices which are intelligent and accurate enough to target the diseases. The platelet count in a blood sample can be done by extrapolating the number of platelets counted in the blood smear. Deep neural nets use multiple layers of filtering and automated feature extraction and detection and can overcome the hurdle of devising complex algorithms to extract features for each type of disease. So, this chapter deals with the usage of deep neural networks for the image classification and platelets count. The method of using deep neural nets has increased the accuracy of detecting the disease and greater efficiency compared to traditional image processing techniques. The method can be further expanded to other forms of diseases which can be detected through blood samples.

Abstract:
Russian power generation, oil and gas businesses are rapidly growing. Installation of new industrial gas turbines is booming to fulfill the demand from economic growth. Russia is a unique country from the annual temperature variation point of view. Some regions may reach up to 100C. One of the biggest challenges for world producers of gas turbines in Russia is the ability to operate products at power plants during cold winters, when ambient temperature might be −60C for a couple of weeks in a row. The reliability and availability of the equipment during the cold season is very critical. Design of inlet systems and filter houses for the Russian market, specifically for northern regions, has a lot of specifics and engineering challenges. Joint Stock Company CKTI is the biggest Russian supplier of air intake systems for industrial gas turbines and axial-flow compressors. In 1969 this enterprise designed and installed the first inlet for the power plant Dagskaya GRES (State Regional Electric Power Plant) with the first 100MW gas-turbine which was designed and manufactured by LMZ. Since the late 1960s CKTI has designed and manufactured inlet systems for the world market and been the main supplier for the Russian market. During the last two years CKTI has designed inlet systems for a broad variety of gas turbine engines ranging from 24MW up to 110MW turbines which are used for power generation and as a mechanical drive for the oil and gas industry. CKTI inlet systems with filtering devices or houses are successfully used in different climate zones including the world’s coldest city Yakutsk and hot Nigeria. CKTI has established CTQs (Critical to quality) and requirements for industrial gas turbine inlet systems which will be installed in Russia in different climate zones for all types of energy installations. The last NPI project of the inlet system, including a nonstandard layout, was done for a small gas-turbine engine which is installed on a railway cart. This arrangement is designed to clean railway lines with the exhaust jet in a quarry during the winter. The design of the inlet system with efficient multistage compressor extraction for deicing, dust and snow resistance has an interesting solution. The detailed description of challenges, weather requirements, calculations, losses, and design methodologies to qualify the system for tough requirements, are described in the paper.
