Abstract:
PT. PLN (PERSERO) as a state-owned company responsible in the electricity sector is required to improve the quality of electricity transmission. In the transmission of electrical power to consumers will be got losses of power. Raising the voltage is an alternative to this problem but it creates new problems because the higher the voltage has increased the corona will occur. The impact of the corona in addition to damaging equipment, noise, and disturbing radio waves, the corona also causes power losses that are proportional to the length of the transmission line. This study uses a quantitative method, by calculating the corona power losses by comparing 4 different cross-sectional areas of the conductor and 4 different air temperatures. The results of this study found that the smaller the cross-sectional area of the conductor the power losses due to corona are smaller, conversely the greater the cross-sectional area the greater the power losses. At the smallest cross-sectional area of 282.6 mm2, the power losses that occurred were 2.013% and at the largest cross-sectional area of 378.7 mm2, the power losses were 5.251%. While the influence of air temperature, the lowest corona losses occur at 29 0C which are 1,223,886 kW and the biggest occur at 24 0C which are 1,373,419 kW, so the higher the air temperature the smaller the corona losses, conversely the lower the air temperature than the higher the corona losses that occur.

Abstract:
The increasing use and use of electricity in Indonesia causes the potential for greater losses in the transmission and distribution system. This causes many problems that arise, one of which is the corona in the transmission and distribution system. Corona mapping can only be detected through several ways, namely sound, light and distinctive smell. In this thesis, the aim is to detect the corona with the characteristics of a distinctive sense of smell, then the results of the detection are compared with the calculated corona losses. This distinctive odor is the smell of ozone which is produced from ionization at high voltage with the surrounding air, namely oxygen to form ozone molecules that are not permanent. The metal electrode to be tested is the copper tip metal. After testing the voltage of the appearance of the corona occurs at 7kV, high voltage when testing the tip of the copper metal point at a voltage of 21 kV is greater than the corona losses. The greater the voltage, the greater the corona losses generated.

Abstract In the high voltage domain, the Corona discharge represents one of the most disturbing problems for the companies that transport electricity. Corona discharge is an electrical discharge brought on by the ionization of a fluid surrounding a conductor that is electrically energized. To combat this phenomenon it is necessary to keep high voltage power lines under surveillance and try to maintain losses at a reasonable value. The best manner to do this thing is by using a fixed-wing unmanned aircraft vehicle having on board the necessary sensors for detecting Corona discharge. In this paper we will focus on extracting and detecting high voltage lines from the images received from an UAV which will be analyzed using a number ofMATLAB functions. To detect lines into an image the Radon transformwill be used which is an integral transform that maps a function to its integrals over lines.

As part of the significant changes occurring in the electricity networks in Australia, there is a need to create significant new transmission infrastructure including in areas relatively close to noise-sensitive land uses. This creates a risk that noise associated with transmissions lines, namely, corona noise and aeolian noise, may occur at a sufficiently high level to result in complaints and compliance risk for the new infrastructure. This paper reviews the mechanisms that can lead to audible corona noise and aeolian noise from transmission lines, as well as information on the nature of the noise including the level and character in the context of legislative requirements that apply in Australia. Guidance is provided on measures to assess and manage the risk associated with it during the design of the infrastructure. Case studies from recent projects are presented where corona noise and aeolian noise has occurred.

Abstract This article is devoted to the analysis of the possible influence of impedance asymmetry on the efficiency of electricity transmission and distribution in the electricity system in Slovakia, at a voltage level of 110 kV - 400 kV, using synchronic phasor monitoring results. For simplicity of calculations, in practice, the impedance imbalance from mutual interfacial inductive capacitances bonds is neglected. In this way, the 3-phase network is interpreted as symmetrical in the calculations. In this case, it is possible to determine only some components of losses (ohmic losses, corona loss, leakages, etc). The influence of impedance asymmetry can be quantified by calculation using the results of the monitoring of the synchronous phasors of selected electricity system elements (OHL, transformer, choke) or by 3-phase modelling of real system elements. frequency to test the transformer for induced over voltage test, and its characteristics is analysed.

Abstract:
Electrical energy is a specific commodity because it can’t be stored in significant quantities, so accurate day-ahead forecasting of total consumption plays a crucial role in stable operation of the whole power system. In order to maintain the adequacy, power generation and electricity consumption have to be constantly in a balance. Electricity demand curve is very sensitive and vulnerable to a lot of different factors that can be categorized in several main groups that include social, stochastic and weather dependent factors. In condition of global pandemic caused by COVID 19, prediction of total consumption is even more challenging task. New restrictive rules, that completely changed behavior of consumers, their daily routine and habits, have been adopted in most of the European countries. Hence, this lockdown restrictive measures affected the volume of electricity consumption and the shape of demand curves as well. This paper analyzes some of the cases with very variable electricity load, due to volatile households’ behavior, on cases of Croatia and countries in the region. Additionally, results are compared with the electricity load of Italy and Sweden whose economy and industry are well developed. Consumption of Sweden was interesting to observe because of its totally different approach of mitigating corona virus, without lockdown restrictions.

The objective of this study was to examine the effect of the Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) on household welfare in Cameroon. This was done using data from a survey of 264 households in Cameroon in 2020. A linear regression model and Heckman sample correction bias were used and the results showed that COVID-19 reduces household welfare in Cameroon. These findings have implications of reducing the impact of COVID-19 on household welfare if households should develop new sources of income and food strategies by engaging more on agricultural activities and government can take a strategy of allocating grants either by reducing the cost of necessities (water, electricity, foodstuff, and housing). Abstract:
. It is a very challenging task to correctly use weather data to calculate the active power loss due to corona in overhead power lines. One of the significant reasons for this was the problem of accuracy of determining weather conditions and the use of the forecast for calculating extended overhead lines. In the USSR (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics), based on field tests and experimental data, recommendations were developed for accounting for losses of electric energy due to corona and interference in overhead lines, the average values of which were given in the relevant instruction for the regulation and justification of the norm of electricity consumption for its transmission over electric networks. According to this regulatory document, the specific cost of active power due to corona in overhead lines, averaged by design, was determined depending on weather conditions, which were divided into four groups. In this paper, the effect of active power losses on corona is estimated using various factors on the example of high-voltage overhead lines in the main electrical networks of the Republic of Belarus of various rated voltages. Dependences of active power losses due to corona have been constructed and modeled, taking into account different climatic and weather conditions observed in the country. The determination of metrological parameters was based on the analysis of weather data and patterns of types of weather conditions. In order to improve the accuracy of calculating the specific losses of active power due to corona, all possible weather conditions were considered, as well as their combinations. Afterwards, the data on weather conditions were processed and their types were reduced to one of the four existing types of weather. A method for determining electric power losses due to corona in overhead lines based on the average relative air density and geometric parameters of the predominant section of overhead lines has been proposed and presented. It is shown that the usage of exclusively rated voltage can cause errors in determining both the specific and actual values of active power losses for corona.

Abstract:
Cubicle is an electrical device that functions as a breaker, protector, connector, controller, and divider of the power system electricity from a power source and reduce sparks when connecting. One of the problems that occur in medium voltage cubicles is the presence of corona. Corona phenomena at cubicle terminations can trigger disturbances such as a decrease in insulation quality, power loss and a significant increase in harmonic distortion. Based on previous research, the solution to minimize the occurrence of corona is to optimize the temperature and humidity of the cubicle. Many of the previous studies examined the control of cubicle temperature and humidity using fans and heaters, but the temperature and humidity had not yet reached a stable and optimal point. In this study, raised a problem regarding the optimization of temperature and humidity in cubicles using the fuzzy method to stabilize the performance of medium voltage cells. In this study, it was found that the fuzzy method in this prototype was able to stabilize the panel humidity at 55% RH and stabilize the panel room temperature at 31.5 o C. Thus, it is hoped that a stable and optimal temperature and humidity can minimize the occurrence of corona. The use of HMI/SCADA based applications can facilitate the ability of the user (operator) to monitor several available parameters and manually control the operation of the panel (on/off).

Abstract:
Technical losses in the transmission network are: losses of power, i.e. electrical energy, which are a consequence of the consumption of power, i.e. energy for heating the elements in the transmission network due to the existence of active resistance in these elements, losses due to hysteresis, losses due to eddy currents, losses due to drain currents in insulation, losses due to corona and dielectric losses. With the most frequent use of smart meters for indirect connection in operation in a plant set up to display electricity from the secondary side, the active electricity will be read on the meter screen with an additional error. Then the transformation ratios of voltage and current instrument transformers are set in the smart meter as 1:1. In order to obtain the actual value of energy, it is necessary to multiply the measured value of electricity from the meter by the transformation ratios of instrument transformers. Another way is to adjust the actual transformation ratios of voltage and current instrument transformers in the smart meter, so that the actual value of electricity in megawatts can be read on the meter screen. In this paper, the errors of electricity reading are considered, taking into account: transformation ratios of measuring transformers, resolutions and units of electricity, methods of setting smart meters, internal constants of meters, nominal secondary currents of electric meters and the prescribed maximum energy that is registered on the screen of electric meter. It investigates how much larger the errors of secondarily set electric meters for indirect connection with the usual resolution for displaying electricity in three decimal places and the unit of measurement in kilowatt hours compared to other possible settings for reading meters. Errors in the calculation of technical losses of electricity on high-voltage transmission lines and cables and power transformers are noticeable.

The coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) spread out at the end of 2019 has sadly caused millions of human losses and hundreds of millions of cases and stressful health situations. As a result, governments forced the worldwide population to stay confined and change their social activities and working behaviors. Under such conditions all economic sectors have been impacted, therefore global electricity consumption pattern has changed consequently. The object of this study is to calculate energy drop for such circumstances to make strategies to face such events in the future. The study we conducted during the period of confinement aims to identify the effects of the Corona epidemic on electricity consumption in Algeria by emphasizing four months (March, April, May, and June) for four years (2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021) by comparing monthly load curves and calculating load deviation for each month.

Abstract:
This paper aims to analyze the quality of insulation in high voltage underground cables XLPE using a prototype which classifies the following usual types of patterns of partial discharge (PD): (1) internal PD, (2) superficial PD, (3) corona discharge in air, and (4) corona discharge in oil, in addition to considering two new PD patterns: (1) false contact and (2) floating ground. The tests and measurements to obtain the patterns and study cases of partial discharges were performed at the Testing Laboratory Equipment and Materials (LEPEM) of the Federal Electricity Commission of Mexico (CFE) using a measuring equipment LDIC and norm IEC60270. To classify the six patterns of partial discharges mentioned above a Probabilistic Neural Network Bayesian Modified (PNNBM) method having the feature of using a large amount of data will be used and it is not saturated. In addition, PNN converges, always finding a solution in a short period of time with low computational cost. The insulation of two high voltage cables with different characteristics was analyzed. The test results allow us to conclude which wire has better insulation.

Abstract:
The number of the insulating materials, including fiberglass products, are widely used in the construction, industry, oil and gas facilities, agro-industrial complex, transport, and defense. When using fiberglass, like some other insulating materials, it is possible to encounter their destruction and perforation, followed by a transition to the source of double-sided corona effect. Sliding spark discharges of static electricity, capable of igniting a combustible or explosive environment, are also likely to occur. The formation of such discharges depends primarily on the electrostatic and electrical strength properties of the used materials. These parameters should be used when assessing the most dangerous consequences of the fiberglass application in the process pipelines, apparatus, and equipment under the conditions of electrification processes. Comparison of the electrostatic and electrical strength properties of the corona-forming air layer in the electrization processes with the similar indicators of non-conductive structural materials is the main criterion that determines the possibility of their perforation and the occurrence of spontaneous sliding spark discharges. Electrostatic intrinsic safety should be ensured by eliminating static electricity discharges that are capable to become the flammable substances source of ignition (materials, mixtures, products). Sliding sparks can be eliminated by managing the electrostatic load. But at the same time, the hazard of ignition by discharges would remain if they could occur. When replacing the metal element (the wall of an apparatus or vessel) electrified by a liquid (technological medium), a product made of an insulating material, including fiberglass, with similar geometric, technical, and operational parameters, it is possible to maintain the efficient protection of the metal structure by means of its grounding.

Kata kunci: corona discharge, Euclidean distance, kegagalan isolasi, linear predictive coding, tegangan tinggi ABSTRACTInsulation failures due to high voltage phenomena such as corona discharge (CD) are still common in the electricity system in Indonesia. This is because early detection of insulation failure cannot be carried out. One form of CD is sound. As the first step in early detection, a study is needed to cluster CD sound (at 20 kV cubical). By observations on the needle-rod electrode at 3 cm, the smallest breakdown was at 34.3 kV. CD sound classification is set into 3 clusters starting from a cubicle voltage of 20 kV until before breakdown occurs, which is 33 kV. Clustering was carried out using linear predictive coding (LPC) as feature extraction and Euclidean distance as pattern matching extracted results. The temperature and humidity inside the cubical are 27.5℃-35.3℃ and 70%-95% respectively. For training and testing data average clustering accuracy results obtained are 100% and 85.15% respectively. Keywords: corona discharge, Euclidean distance,, insulation failure, linier predictive coding, high voltage

Abstract:
This article examined the impact of participatory video (PV) technique in (re)educating rural dwellers on Corona virus (COVID-19) at Iva-Valley Forestry Hill Camp 1, Southeast Nigeria, with a view to generating data that could be tested or extrapolated elsewhere. It used historical-analytic, key informant interview (KII) and direct observation methods to argue that the COVID-19 pandemic/period has exposed weaknesses immanent in human institutions globally. One of such exposed interstitial gaps is the seeming weak media-link in the rural areas. This situation results from lack of electricity, non-access to reliable locally-generated news by resident community members and the lack of know-how to use mobile phones to generate media contents. Rural dwellers constitute 49.66 percent of the total Nigerian population (National Population Commission [NPC], 2018), yet media focus in Nigeria is mostly urban-driven. Having interacted and co-created a video script in Igbo with the community members through PV to determine the level of (mis)information that has permeated the community and (re)educated the rural dwellers on Corona virus and strategies to prevent its spread, the study canvassed the use of indigenous languages, diversification of media and PV techniques in the dissemination of credible information on COVID-19 in Nigeria, particularly at the grassroots

Abstract:
The Declaration of COVID 19 as a pandemic became a turning point that shifted the paradigm of human civilization and education system. This paper aims to explore the behavioral aspects of school-level children and the situation of online education after the COVID 19 pandemic in Nepal. The study used an exploratory research design to achieve purposes. The parents having school-level children are the population for this study. And purposive sampling technique is used to collect primary data through an online system by sharing the link of the questionnaire form to parents living in urban areas, and fifty responses collected during a month. Descriptive statistical tools used for analysis purposes. The closure of schools has increased the use of mobiles phone in children. Children spent very little time in house undertakings, indooroutdoor games, singing and dancing, and playing with family members. They have observed changes in their usual behavior, parents are feeling difficulties to handle their children in a house settings. Online education is a new use for Nepalese society and school-level education. The participation of children in online education and the effectiveness is at a satisfactory level. However, electricity, accessory devices, internet facility, the interest of children, and lack of monitoring of children’s education have become the major problems. The study finding suggests that parents should take care of children’s education and prevent them from the unwanted effects of using the mobile phone and other undesirable behavioral changes due to the closures of schools.

The COVID-19 pandemic has begun in early 2020 and still continues to strongly affect the entire world delivering a significant global, shock, but varying across countries and commodity sectors. The Government of the Republic of Serbia has been adopting different measures to slow down the dissemination of the corona-virus, specifically nationwide lockdown in March and April 2020. Business activities have been reduced. The pandemic situation has changed the lifestyle as people are mostly staying home and working from home. This paper provides a re-view of unprecedented impacts of COVID-19 pandemic, with restrictions and lockdown in Serbia, on electricity sector at this stage of the crisis. The outcomes offer a contribution to the body of literature because limited research has been conducted on these relationships in case of Serbia. Sets of statistical indicators are used to analyze changes the electricity sector has been facing. Data visualization is used to compare developments during the pandemic with those of previous years. Our research and data-driven analysis of these impacts should improve the understanding of the techno-economic effects of unforeseen events, such as a pandemic, on the power system, scrutinizing if effects could be relative-ly short?lived or longer?lasting.

Abstract:
Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) pandemic dramatically impacted the energy sector. About 4.5% of global primary energy consumption dropped in 2020, where coal demand decreased by 220 million tons of coal equivalent. The drop was driven by lower electricity demand due to policies against Covid-19 (i.e., travel restriction, lockdown, and new standard). In particular, the COVID-19 crisis has already created profound uncertainties for the Indonesian coal mining industry as one of the world's largest coal producers and exporters. Coal is the primary energy source for Indonesian electricity, contributing to the national revenues. A debate about action to take, whether to focus on dealing with Covid-19 health or maintaining economic growth, is unavoidable. With the number of cases continuing to rise, we set out to investigate the impact of COVID-19 on Indonesia's coal mining industry. Rapid desk assessment and descriptive statistical approach were used in this study by evaluating secondary data during the pandemic, comparing with previous years before the COVID-19 pandemic. The results revealed a tangible transformation in coal demand, production, and price. Despite domestic coal consumption for power generation decreased, the coal price increased in mid of 2021 due to rising coal demand in China.

Full text
Abstract:
In the present study, the relationship between body water loss and conductivity was examined in adult houseflies (Musca domestica). The events an insect experiences in an electric field are caused by the conductive nature of the insect body (i.e., movement of electricity within or its release from the insect). After houseflies were dehydrated, rehydrated, refrigerated, and frozen and thawed, they were placed in static and dynamic electric fields. Untreated houseflies were deprived of their free electrons to become positively charged and then attracted to the insulated negative pole in the static electric field and were exposed to corona and arc discharge from non-insulated negative pole in the dynamic electric field. There was no current in the bodies of dehydrated and frozen flies; hence, there was no attractive force or discharge exposure. In the remaining insects, the results were identical to those in the untreated control insects. These results indicated that the reduction of body water conductivity inhibited the release of electricity from the body in the static electric field and the discharge-mediated current flow through the body in the dynamic electric field. The insect was affected by the electric fields because of its conductivity mediated by body water.

Abstract:
Measurement of lightning current plays a critical role in the field of atmospheric electricity. Traditionally, Rogowski coils or low-resistance shunts were employed for measuring lightning currents in the range from several amperes up to several hundreds of kilo-amperes, and high-value resistors were utilized for measuring corona discharge currents at sub-ampere levels. However, these approaches were not suitable for continuously recording the vast range of lightning currents. For this sake, we have developed a lightning current measurement system equipped with a shock-tolerant low-noise amplifier module. With the system installed on a tall tower, sub-ampere level currents just before the lightning initiation were observed for the first time. To confirm the authenticity of the recorded currents, the background noise of the measurement system and surrounding environment were identified, and a digital multi-frequency notch filter was proposed for de-noising. Results show that the system can achieve a current identification level of 50 mA even in complex electromagnetic environments, while having a measurement capability of 220 kA.

Abstract:
The expanded diameter conductors are widely used for high voltage electricity power transmission due to its superior ability to prevent electronic corona phenomenon. However an undesired stability problem of wire distribution configuration within the cross-section of the conductor often occurs during the power line stringing processes, especially for the not-well-designed conductor structures. This phenomenon is typically characterized by the appearance of outer wire/wires jumping out of the layer; therefore it is also referred as wire jump-out problem. Finite element model which can predict the wire jump-out phenomenon has been successfully developed in this research project. Series of stimulations have been carried out to investigate the key factors to cause the wire jump-out problem. The reduction of radial distances between the adjacent aluminum wire layers due to the obvious indentation deformation at the trellis contact points were identified to be one of the most significant factors to lead to the wire jump-out problem. Numerical results show that keeping sufficient initial gap between the adjacent outer layer wires in the initial design can be a simple effective way to relieve/avoid the wire jump-out problem.

Abstract:
The ongoing Covid-19 pandemic has had a serious impact on the global economy and has brought a considerable part of the industry, worldwide, to a standstill. Long unprecedented lockdowns worldwide, to control the spread of corona virus, have affected many individuals and businesses which led to a fall in consumption of commodities to a level never seen before. Shutdown of travel and commercial activities during the lockdowns resulted in reduction of oil import and diesel consumption in India. The reduced consumption of commodities has, in turn, affected the government’s tax revenue. Despite the biggest drop in crude oil price in global market since 1991, the retail price of diesel in India has touched a new high-level record. It was because, in order to overcome the debilitating effects on both the central and state finances, the Indian government has doubled the taxes on diesel. Across the world, diesel is commonly used by various sectors as a means of transporting and electricity generating fuel. It is essentially a price-determining commodity. Therefore, any change in its price may affect the economy to the micro-level, including nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). This study aims to assess the significant effects of the pandemic situation of Covid-19 on diesel in the Indian context.

Abstract:
COVID-19 has forced the authorities to introduce online education at all levels in Bangladesh. Students from primary to tertiary levels had initial hiccups to adapt to the newly introduced online education system because of genuine reasons like lack of appropriate device, absence or limited access to internet networks, disinterest in online education, disruption in electricity, etc. Perhaps, most of the stakeholders involved in education had a kind of hope of witnessing the crisis caused through COVID-19 over within a short period of time. Thus, none of the stakeholders was very serious in online education, expecting offline in-person education to be back pretty soon. It seems to have been realised by most of the stakeholders after almost one and a half years of the corona crisis that the pandemic may not disappear quickly. As a result, online education has recently been reinforced in Bangladesh, considering it the only alternative to the previous system. This review study explores the prospects and challenges of online education in the context of Bangladesh and finds out that prospects of it could be pretty high as an alternative education system. However, its challenges may be described as daunting given the socioeconomic and cultural constraints that prevail in the country.

The unexpected outbreak of the Corona virus (COVID-19) disrupted schools and universities around the world. Traditional classes were canceled, forcing schools and universities to switch to online learning. While developed countries have already adopted e-learning and online learning into their teaching practices, which made the transition relatively easy during the COVID-19 crisis, other developing countries continue to struggle with problems of electricity and information technology infrastructure. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the challenges of online learning faced by students and teachers at the Faculty of Sciences Ain Chock, Hassan II University of Casablanca, Morocco. Thus, two anonymous structured Google Forms questionnaires were sent to participants via email. 498 responses were returned from students and 105 from teachers. We use descriptive statistics to better understand the distribution of study participants. The study reveals that the faculty during the lockdown ensured educational continuity and offered a reliable online learning in terms of digital and educational materials. However, technical problems such as the slow speed of the Internet connection, lack of knowledge about the use of information and communication technologies to teach and learn, low motivation of students, were significant challenges to students’ and teachers’ use of the digital tools.

Abstract:
Abstract Although by the end of 2021 the major negative impact of COVID-19 had diminished around the world, the pandemic has still not subsided in its real sense. People are being affected and even dying even today, due to COVID-19. To-date (22 August 2022) there were 596 million people effected by the Corona virus (COVID-19) and registered deaths by this disease were 6.45 million globally. By now, a large part of the world population has been inoculated against this disease and even booster doses were also administered to the population at large. In Pakistan till today (22 August 2022) there were 1.57 million cases of the disease and a total of 33,555 deaths. The objective of the study is to compare the energy of University of Central Punjab (UCP) during the pandemic period (April 2020 to June 2021) when UCP was teaching online with data taken after the reopening of the university during the post-pandemic period (June 2021 till July 2022) and relate it to the compliance by UCP in line with SDG framework. Source of the data is the administrative database of University of Central Punjab as well as the internet sources on these issues. Theoretical base would remain the SDG framework and the UI Green Metric World University Rankings framework in regards to this paper. SDG Goal 7 is “Affordable, Reliable and clean energy for all”, with 5 targets. UCP is a SDG’s compliance university and is streamlining its energy usages in such a way that it tends to minimize the usage of fossil fuel and the maximum usage of solar energy for its energy needs so that both cost of energy (electricity) is minimized at the same time the usage of clean renewable energy is increased, thus help protect the environment from pollutants. Due to partial lockdown UCP went into online teaching from April 2020 till June 2021. The university reopened for physical on-campus classes in June 2022. The post pandemic period for UCP is June 2021 to-date (July 2022). UCP data shows that between the period January to March 2020 (before the lockdown due the pandemic), the energy usage of UCP was 694,144 KWH, while in the same period (January to March 2021) when the university went into online teaching the total energy consumption of UCP came down to 518,891.3 KWH or a reduction by 175,253 KWH. The post-pandemic period when the university has again gone into physical on-campus teaching the university energy usage has increased, but due to efficient and sustainable methods of energy usage, consumption and production in place where UCP has three sources of electricity production, (a) the electricity grid, (b) solar panels covering all the constructed areas of the university and (c) on-campus electricity generators run on fossil fuels. UCP has reverse metering agreement with the LESCO grid and therefore not only produces a significant amount of electricity through its Soler panels, but also feeds the grid from its excess production of soler energy, reducing its dependence on the grid. At the same time due to sustainable usages, UCP’s dependence on the generators using fossil fuels has declined. The use of the generators when in the evening and the night the classes are not held, is nil usage, thus saving the environment because of its minimum usage of fossil fuels.

Abstract:
Over the last decade, the South African economy has endured prevailing economic challenges including weak economic growth, unreliable electricity supply, rising fiscal deficits, sub-duded investment inflows and the inexorable rise in government debt alongside the expected impact of the corona virus pandemic. Credit ratings have greatly evolved making them key elements in the modern financial markets because of their opinions of credit worthiness, as many investors across the globe relay heavily on their opinions. South Africa unlike many of its developing counterparts, has since struggled to maintain its sovereign ratings above non-investment grade since the 2007/2008 global financial crisis. Despite the economic constraints faced by the country, the sovereign credit downgrade path has landed the country's financial stance back prior to democracy, following the loss of investment grade rating from the big three credit rating agencies. The significance of credit ratings on investments and growth has therefore come to the fore, as having an understanding of how credit ratings affect investments and economic growth in South Africa is crucial for the formulation of key strategies that should be developed to stimulate and attract investments, as well as encourage and promote long term growth and development. The primary objective of this study is therefore to analyse the impact of sovereign credit rating on investments and economic growth in South Africa.
