Abstract:
In its role, the media is the conveyor of information through discourses that will influence the perception of the masses. The presentation of a news cannot be separated from the ideology of the media and media journalists. The choice of words used by journalists in a text shows how one's meaning of facts or reality is based on ideology. Critical discourse analysis is always interesting to study more deeply. Discourse by Van Dijk is described as having three dimensions or structures: text, social cognition, and social context. This study aims to describe the analysis of Van Dijk discourse in the text dimension of the news on the prohibition of going home in the media Tempo.com and Kompas.com. The approach used in this research is descriptive qualitative with note-taking techniques and Teun A. Van Dijk's discourse analysis techniques. The results showed three structures of the news text. The macro structure shows differences in global coherence, the first news is about the negative impact of policies while the second news is policy considerations. The superstructure consists of summaries and stories based on selected perspectives from global coherence. While in the micro structure there are semantic, syntactic, stylistic and rhetorical studies, the four studies also display the meaning of the background, details, intentions, presuppositions, and sentence building that supports the perspective of each news.

Abstract:
The katoba ritual as a form of oral tradition from the Muna tribe is an integral part of the culture of the supporting community. The purpose of this study is to describe the structure of the ritual text speech of the Muna communities. The structure of the ritual speech utterances in this study is called the pogau toba text (PTT). This study uses a qualitative method with a Van Dijk structural approach that focuses on three frameworks of text structure, namely macro structure, superstructure, and microstructure. The results showed that 1) the macro structure, which is the overall meaning, global meaning, or general meaning of the PTT. The macro structure found in the PTT is the inauguration of a child as a Muslim. This is reflected in the pronunciation of the two words of the shahada of Asyhadu Allah ilaha Ilallah wa ashadu anna Muhammadar Rasulullah which marks a person's Islamic status; 2) superstructure, namely the four main flow structure of PTT in the context of the katoba ritual, namely opening “pembukaan”, toba conditions “syarat-syarat toba”, core of toba “inti toba”, and the closing “penutup”; and 3) microstructure, which is limited to the style of the PTT language, namely diction or choice of words in the katoba ritual emphasizing religious and moral elements that are concrete through the use of polite and gentle language, found also a parallelism in grammatical structure, and expressions metaphorical expressions that take the symbols of flora and fauna or other natural objects are presented to convey an idea, concept, or specific purpose.

Abstract:
Music is one of the communication media to convey implied messages. Music is also a cultural means that is present in society as a construction of social reality as outlined in the form of song lyrics. The most prominent social music functions are found in the lyrics. An ideal song lyrics do not only contain ideas to entertain but also have moral or idealistic messages and have the power of constructive social criticism. One of the musicians who dared to create songs about social problems was the band Shaggydog who released a song titled Putra Nusantara. The purpose of this study was to determine the meaning of social criticism on the song Putra Nusantara using the Teun A. Van Djik approach covering the dimensions of the text, dimensions of social cognition and dimensions of social context. The text dimension will analyze the macro structure, superstructure and micro structure, then discuss it into the dimensions of social cognition and social context dimensions to find the meaning of criticism of the song. After analyzing the micro structure, which is based on syntactic, semantic, stylistic and rhetorical structures, it turns out that there are many clauses that are incoherent with one another or based on the superstructure, in the temple scheme many meanings are even lost. However, based on the overall meaning, the song implies to state officials who do not pay attention to proper education for children. However, based on social cognition, the song cannot be proven true if the school is expensive. Macro structure can be seen from the relationship of the text with what is in the minds of listeners. Then, in the social context, there are a lot of satirical expressions that can be known meaning based on the social context.

Abstract:
Earthquakes cause rapid variations of direction, speed and acceleration. Vibrations are generated either by the moves of the tectonic plates, or by the volcanic activity, or by the collapse of the geological layers. The foundation conveys the maintained oscillatory movement and executes free cushioned oscillations. Due to the seismic action, an energy balance is created that contains: the energy induced into the structure, the energy absorbed by the structure and the energy returned to the ground. All these forms of energy constitute the capable energy of the structure. This energy reflects the possibilities of elastic structure deformation but also the elastoplastic deformation capacity. The seismic insulation systems are intended to reduce the impact of earthquakes on buildings by means of special devices. One uses two types of seismic systems: active and passive. The insulation of the propping base of the structure aims at inserting a smaller amount of energy into the superstructure. The protection of the structures exposed to the risk of earthquake is based on the three fundamental operational modes: insulation, connection, dissipation of energy. Connectors. Insulators and seismic dampers. The centrically braced metallic frames provide resilience, rigidity and ductility, being thus ideal for the bracing of the seismic systems.

Abstract:
This study aims to describe the discourse of the Minister of Religion's statement regarding good-looking radicalism among the State Civil Apparatus. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with van Djik's critical discourse analysis. The data collection uses documentary techniques from Youtube video webinars and a number of journals. The macrostructure shows that there are strategies that can be done to ward off the entry of radical ideology in ASN. The superstructure shows the process of radicalism agents entering through educational institutions and houses of worship with an attractive appearance to deceive the public. The microstructure analysis shows that this statement of good-looking radicalism has generated polemic in society because it is subjective, that is, it cannot be generalized based on one case. The result of this study shows that some people think that the Minister of Religion agrees with the good-looking radicalism movement. The communicator is the Minister, namely as a messenger to ward off radicalism agents by being careful in selecting ASN. The Minister has access to convey messages to the public to be aware of the entry of radical-minded people into mosques, which usually starts from people who are good-looking, speak Arabic well, and have sufficient religious knowledge.

Abstract:
Abstract Comics are an extremely popular, though sometimes underestimated, medium. Yet they are able to convey the image of reality in a potentially infinite variety of genres and styles. Their explicitly fictional approach sends simple and direct messages to the reader, allowing him or her to move into a dimension where original rules, free of superstructures and compromises, apply. In fact, the cultural, political and social interaction between object and subject, which comics inevitably represent, eventually involves the theme of the rule and its relationship with society. The encounter between the comic and the legal often takes place in an almost inevitable and unplanned way and determines a synergy capable of producing original results not only from a narrative point of view. The inherently visual embodiment of the rule ends up enhancing the plot, and the rule’s many expressive potentialities. For this reason, the unusual association between comics and law has also earned the growing and curious attention of the world of the legal profession and may acquire, in the not-too-distant future, a further and absolutely unpredictable possibility of use as an atypical learning tool.

Abstract:
Abstract In this paper I discuss the ways in which Bruce Baillie’s Mass for the Dakota Sioux (1964) and Quixote (1965) evoke Native American Indian heritage and western-hero road poems by challenging the concept of the American landscape and incorporating conventions traditionally associated with cinéma pur, cinéma vérité, and the city symphony. Both pictures, seen as largely ambiguous and ironic travelogue forms, expose their audiences to “the sheer beauty of the phenomenal world” (Sitney 2002: 182) and nurture nostalgic feelings for the lost indigenous civilizations, while simultaneously reinforcing the image of an American conquistador, hence creating a strong sense of dialectical tension. Moreover, albeit differing in a specific use of imagery and editing, the films rely on dense, collage-like and often superimposed images, which clearly contribute to the complexity of mood conveyed on screen and emphasize the striking conceptual contrast between white American and Indian culture. Taking such an assumption, I argue that although frequently referred to as epic road poems obliquely critical of the U.S. westward expansion and manifest destiny, the analyzed works’ use of plot reduction, observational and documentary style as well as kinaesthetic visual modes and rhythmic editing derive primarily from the cinéma pur’s camerawork, the cinéma vérité’s superstructure, and the city symphony’s spatial arrangement of urban environments. Such multifaceted inspirations do not only diversify Mass’ and Quixote’s non-narrative aesthetics, but also help document an intriguing psychogeography of the 1960s American landscapes, thus making a valuable contribution to the history of experimental filmmaking dealing with Native American Indian heritage.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to explore the hidden message in the message of communication (da'wah) and the rhetoric conveyed by someone is a response from the social reality of the community that surrounds a Muballigh who shows his attitude and character. This gave birth to a distinctive character, different from other people's messages. It also refers to the social, political, economic, social and cultural context in which a person lives. This can be found from the preaching messages of Ali Shariati. Using the Teo A. Van Dijk model discourse analysis method, the researcher described the da'wah message based on the framework of the discourse elements; first, macro structure, Second; superstructure, third; micro structure. The use of the Discourse model is intended to interpret the latent intent of the message. The results of the study concluded that Ali Shari'ati's message of preaching emphasized a lot of aspects of aqeedah and morals, with the following characteristics; (1) The content of Shari'ati's message of preaching uses the historical sociological analysis methodology using reasoning or logic of comparison, (2) Tawhid becomes the basis of every content of Shari'ati's message, (3) The message is always progressive, this is characterized by new interpretations and meanings, (4) have a commitment to the culture and traditions of the local community, (5) Islam must be the basis of movement and side with the weak, (6) More emphasis on moral character.

Abstract:
Aim of this article is to introduce and present advantages and possibilities of using simulation tools to calculate energy flows of tractive vehicle in all phases of its ride. The focus is on the braking phase, especially on the braking energy recuperation that offers the highest energy saving potential.Energetic simulation was carried out as a part of a current railway reconstruction study, which is a good example of possible energetic calculation use. Energetic calculation in the simulation are performed using so called "exact method" developed at the Faculty of Transportation. The advantage of the method is that it provides a high degree of accuracy. Due to the simulation calculation being performed in real-time, the user can enter the calculation even during the simulation. Crucial part ofevery simulation are quality input data, such as vehicle braking characteristic (including all working points below the envelope line together with the efficiency characteristics of the power train parts (engine, transmission, convertor and others)). Also, sufficiently precise (with a precision of 1 meter) railway track details (detailed geometrical and other information on the current and reconstructed railway track or on the railway track proposal. To present savings during the ride, the railway track section on the track Montreál-Sherbrooke was chosen. On this track, (especially electrification and partial reconstruction of the superstructure) is planned. Reconstruction level will be dependant on the local economical and social conditions. However, in the most optimistic case, total electrification of the track will be undertaken, or lower level of the reconstruction when the vehicles that have very similar characteristics. The railway track section is located between the cities of Montreál and Sherbrooke, that are 160 km apart. To compare the current, and possible future, state, comparison of energy consumption of the vehicle was conducted on the same track with the same geometrical characteristics. We can assume that the overall energy intensity of the ride on the newly reconstructed track (eg. with greater radius of the arches) will be lower than the overall energy intensity of the ride on the track before reconstruction. Current data on energetic consumption are not available, therefore they were obtained by simulation and verified by calculations and considered sufficiently accurate.Presumably, the input simulation parameters required for the simulation will not always be delivered in the sufficient quality or will be partly missing completely. In these cases they will be substituted by various algorithms, that can be machine-processed and that are part of the simulation calculations. One of the crucial algorithms is so called "moment efficiency". Its machine processingis not entirely developed and therefore, this simulation will be conducted without its usage. For financial reasons, simulation calculation was verified only by the theoretical physical calculation method. Based on several partial results, emergent computing tool is functional and sufficiently accurate. The simulation program is supposed to be experimentally verified after its finishing. The outcomes presented in this article are calculated by simulated computation and were not confronted with the real situation in any way. However, relevant calculation algorithms, processes and theoretical background of the simulation were already verified on the older software versions. Therefore, the simulated outcomes are supposed to be at least sufficiently accurate to provide preliminary study for the railway reconstruction. Presented calculations were executed by using author’s simulation software.Part of the methodology was taken from the previous, already verified, versions of the software for vehicle ride simulation.

Abstract:
The news media, once thought to be only as a tool of information delivery, has subtly shifted its roles as an agent of (de)constructing thoughts, introducing, or denoting fear especially in appalling news. This raises a question whether the news on the COVID-19 pandemic is only for transmitting news updates on the pandemic condition or agenda-driven. However, research tapping into the imbued messages in language complexity in this context seems minimal. This study aims to uncover the language elements that sign fear in a news text. This research focuses on how fear is imbued in three online English-language newspaper articles in Indonesia published by the Jakarta Post, thereby the rhetoric of fear. The three articles discussed the spread of COVID-19 in Indonesia. In this study, CDA is devised to reveal the traces of fear-embedded language choices found in the three online newspaper articles. Researchers used the critical analysis discourse model of Teun A. Van Dijk (1993) and the three elements of discourse (1993): micro, macro, and superstructure. Findings indicated that there were common uses of euphemism, dysphemism, and orthophemism to refine the language being conveyed. This study classified euphemism into five objectives: (1) evasive maneuver to prevent mass panic; (2) speech refinement to soften offence, insults, and/ or other language expressions that may result to humiliation; (3) diplomacy tool; (4) language replacement for taboo or vulgar language choices or those endowed with negative connotation (5) tool for satire, sarcasm and subtle criticism. This study also revealed some linguistic decisions, such as lexicon choices and strategies on sentence construction, subtly evident not only to impose fear, but at the same time to dispose it. Researchers hope that this study may assist the readers in pinpointing subtleties in author’s tone and tendency.
