Full text
Abstract:
A technology has been developed for DNA identification and certification of varieties of meadow clover (Trifolium pratense L.), alfalfa (Medicago varia Mart.), Sowing (M. sativa L.) and hop (M. lupuli-na L.) based on molecular analysis with using SSR and SRAP markers. The recommendations contain a description of the sequence of experiments and protocols for DNA typing procedures. The presented methods were developed by the authors on the basis of their own experimental research and using the data available in the literature. A characteristic of informative primers for each marking system is given, a set of DNA identification markers is proposed, and unique molecular genetic formulas of varieties are drawn up as the basis for a reference genetic passport. Methodological recommendations were prepared with the aim of mastering the technology of DNA certification of forage grasses in practice. Designed for managers and specialists of research and control laboratories, can serve as a textbook for students and postgraduates in specialized specialties.

Alyukov, Sergey. Approximation of piecewise linear and generalized functions. ru: INFRA-M Academic Publishing LLC., 2024. http://dx.doi.org/10.12737/2104876.

Full text
Abstract:
The monograph is devoted to piecewise linear and generalized functions. They are widely used in various fields of research: in the theory of signal transmission and transformation, quantum field theory, control theory, problems of nonlinear dynamics, structural mechanics, semiconductor theory, economic applications, medicine, description of impulse effects and many others. When creating mathematical models, in some cases it is necessary to approximate these functions using analytical expressions, but not in the form of linear combinations, as in known methods, but in the form of attachments, compositions, using recursive sequences. The considered methods are devoid of the disadvantages of Fourier series and have advantages over other approximation methods. The developed approximation methods help to understand the meaning and content of generalized functions and their derivatives, and contribute to the conscious application of these functions in mathematical modeling problems. These methods can be used in a wide range of applied research, from medicine to quantum electronics. The theoretical material is illustrated by a large number of practical examples from a wide variety of applied fields. The fundamentals of the developed macroeconomic theory with impulse, shock, spasmodic characteristics and other types of rapidly changing processes are presented. For mathematicians, students and teachers, and specialists working in applied research fields.

Abstract:
This chapter contextualizes Hildegard of Bingen’s monumental sequence for her monastic community’s patron St. Rupert, O Ierusalem aurea civitas, both within Hildegard’s own output of sequences, and within the sequence repertory at large. Considering her deep sensitivity to the relationship between text and music, including close attention to grammatical structure, word stress, and word and syllable parsing, the essay proposes that Hildegard uses a varied repetition technique, adapting the standard sequence form. Instead of strict repetition, she varies many elements of the melodic surface through expansion or contraction, preserving an audible sense of repetition while responding directly to new text structures. The essay provides a textual and musical analysis of the entire sequence, demonstrating the composer’s large-scale control of musical structure.

Full text
Abstract:
The sequencing of entire genomes of microbes grown in pure cultures is now routine. The sequence data from cultivated microbes have provided insights into these microbes and their uncultivated relatives. Sequencing studies have found that bacterial genomes range from 0.18 Mb (intracellular symbiont) to 13 Mb (a soil bacterium), whereas genomes of eukaryotes are much bigger. Genomes from eukaryotes and prokaryotes are organized quite differently. While bacteria and their small genomes often grow faster than eukaryotes, there is no correlation between genome size and growth rates among the bacteria examined so far. Genomic studies have also highlighted the importance of genes exchanged (“horizontal gene transfer”) between organisms, seemingly unrelated, as defined by rRNA gene sequences. Microbial ecologists use metagenomics to sequence all microbes in a community. This approach has revealed unsuspected physiological processes in microbes, such as the occurrence of a light-driven proton pump, rhodopsin, in bacteria (dubbed proteorhodopsin). Genomes from single cells isolated by flow cytometry have also provided insights about the ecophysiology of both bacteria and protists. Oligotrophic bacteria have streamlined genomes, which are usually small but with a high fraction of genomic material devoted to protein-encoding genes, and few transcriptional control mechanisms. The study of all transcripts from a natural community, metatranscriptomics, has been informative about the response of eukaryotes as well as bacteria to changing environmental conditions.

Abstract:
Cardiac organogenesis requires the control of gene expression at distinct developmental windows in order to organize morphogenetic steps in the correct sequence for heart development. This is facilitated by concerted regulation at three levels: chromatin, transcription, and post-transcriptional modifications. Epigenetic regulation at the chromatin level changes the chromatin scaffold of DNA to regulate accessibility of the DNA sequence to transcription factors for genetic activation or repression. At the genome, long non-coding RNAs work with epigenetic factors to alter the chromatin scaffold or form DNA-RNA complexes at specific genomic loci to control the transcription of genetic information. After RNA transcription, the expression of genetic information can be further modified by microRNAs. Each layer of gene regulation requires the participation of many factors, with their combinatorial interactions providing variations of genetic expression at distinct pathophysiological phases of the heart. The major functions of chromatin remodellers and non-coding RNAs are discussed.

Full text
Abstract:
This short and concise paper was the first to unequivocally reveal that there were endogenous opioids in the central nervous system (CNS), identify their peptide nature and sequence, and show that they exerted physiological inhibitory effects. The idea that there were natural opioids fitted with concurrent reports of opiate-binding sites, and this led to the description of multiple receptors with their own families of peptide transmitters. No truly novel opioid drugs have emerged since, and attempts to protect and manipulate the enkephalins for pain control have yet to be successful. This does not detract from this key study, which made us think about pain modulation in a different way, and subsequent work has clearly shown how endogenous opioid signalling is critical in CNS function, perhaps most importantly in endogenous pain control, such as that harnessed by placebo analgesia.

Abstract:
Sepsis is the main cause of multiple organ failure and remains a concern because of the associated high morbidity and mortality. In recent years, important advances have been made in the understanding of the pathophysiology of sepsis. Sepsis and septic shock are the end result of complex interactions between infecting organisms and various elements of the host response. A key feature of the common sequence of organ failure is dysfunction of the cardiovascular system, including microcirculatory elements. Outcome improvement in sepsis is based on recognizing the process early and instituting effective therapies. The time window for intervention is relatively short, and treatment must promptly control the source of infection, restore haemodynamic homoeostasis, and support failing organ systems.
