Abstract:

Abstract:
The purpose of this paper is to provide an overview of the corporate identity concept. This investigation initially provides a brief review of the literature and clarification of the various components of the corporate identity concept. Then, through a series of in-depth interviews with 32 individuals from twenty different organisations in different industries, it aims to develop an understanding of the benefits organisations believe can be derived from a strong identity. The study shows that many practitioners and academics believe that a virtuous corporate identity is pivotal to their success. Many interviewees stated that the benefits of a strong and positive corporate identity could boost employee motivation, increase the ability of the organisation to recruit and retain high quality employees, provide a strong base for organisational culture in the event of mergers and acquisitions, increase transparency of business practices, bring competitive advantage, help to develop better relationships with other businesses and aid investment into the company. The study recommends that businesses should try to develop systematic methods of measuring and managing their corporate identity.

Kistler, Max. "Physics’ Contribution to Causation." Kriterion – Journal of Philosophy 35, no. 1 (March 1, 2021): 21–46. http://dx.doi.org/10.1515/krt-2021-0003.

Abstract:
Abstract Most philosophers of physics are eliminativists about causation. Following Bertrand Russell’s lead, they think that causation is a folk concept that cannot be rationally reconstructed within a worldview informed by contemporary physics. Against this thesis, I argue that physics contributes to shaping the concept of causation, in two ways. (1) Special Relativity is a physical theory that expresses causal constraints. (2) The physical concept of a conserved quantity can be used in the functional reduction of the notion of causation. The empirical part of this reduction makes the hypothesis that the transference of an amount of a conserved quantity is a necessary and sufficient condition for causation. This hypothesis is defended against several objections from physics: that amounts of energy do not possess the appropriate identity conditions required for being able to be transmitted, that there is no universal principle of the conservation of energy in General Relativity, and that there are at least two types of physical systems in which causation does not involve any transference: entangled systems in quantum mechanics and the Aharonov–Bohm effect. In order to show that physics provides means to elaborate the concept of causation it is important to avoid certain misunderstandings. In particular, the claim that there is causation in a physical world does not mean that causation is an additional ingredient of the “furniture” of the world, over and above the ingredients identified by physics.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Purpose: Design and UX are effective means of embodying value, but if marketers couple these with an ambiguous concept, the product/service loses its uniqueness. Starbucks exhibits strength in creating value based on concepts. Various studies report factors that contribute to brand loyalty, but the underlying idea remains unexplored. This study comprehensively verifies the contribution of four factors to Starbucks’ loyalty in Japan: concept, product, place, and staff. Methodology: Using an online survey, a question was framed about the brand image to identify loyalty-related factors, since consumers form brand image through brand experience. To avoid bias, the responses were based purely on recall. The contribution of each derived factor to loyalty was evaluated using structural equation modeling. Findings: When asked about the Starbucks brand image, respondents mostly recalled its products (related words), but the brand concept was the most effective factor for loyalty. In addition, places were more significant than products. However, product superiority was confirmed in terms of both frequency and contribution compared to place. Implications: Companies should reaffirm the importance of brand concepts. Thus, emphasis should be placed on the index of concept recall in brand management.

Abstract:
Current research of the Norwegian samfunnssikkerhet concept appears to be lacking, with few scientific publications advancing the understanding of the concept. This weakness is addressed through the paper’s empirical exploration of challenges in the work on samfunnssikkerhet (Paper aim #1), where the resulting insight informs an epistemological understanding of the concept of samfunnssikkerhet (Paper aim #2). The paper identifies four challenges in the work on samfunnssikkerhet, which suggest that samfunnssikkerhet is about mobilizing against both known and unknown threats through broad and border-crossing cooperation and about flexible methods and design approaches. It is concluded that the paper’s empirical exploration of the samfunnssikkerhet concept contributes to a clarification and overall empirical revitalization of the concept. A recommendation to safety and security researchers is to further develop the empirical understanding of the samfunnssikkerhet concept, including through validation of the challenges identified in this paper and continuous mapping of additional and future challenges. This can give the samfunnssikkerhet concept, including its relation to concepts such as resilience, risk and societal security, a clearer meaning and consequently a stronger unifying role in efforts to prevent and manage today’s dynamic threats both within and outside Norway.

Full text
Abstract:
In this paper it is argued that, despite the welcome psycho-social emphasis in educational linguistic theories witnessed in recent decades, and with it, a rapprochement of the social sciences to the psychological sciences, the relationship between these fields has not gone far enough. The actual challenge is a move towards the unification of the social, psychological and language sciences (anthropology and sociology; cognitive science; and linguistics). A step in this interdisciplinary direction is offered by the discipline called 'cognitive anthropolinguistics', and its central concept of 'cultural cognition'. The paper discusses the implication of this concept for the field of educational linguistics, followed by a brief illustration of a cognitive-cultural application of that concept, namely the concept of 'ethnic stereotype', as part of a socio-cultural guide for a cross-cultural pedagogical grammar.

Abstract:
Abstract This paper presents a framework of contemporary quality costs concept contributing to a more sustainable society regarding an integrated view of quality costs in all phases of the product life cycle (engineering, production, use, and end-of-life) by all stakeholders in the supply chain. The development of this framework is viewed through the complementarity of the sustainability dimensions and the circular economy concept understood as a waste management concept, which represents a solid basis for the development of a novel approach to understanding quality costs which, in turn, reflects the sustainable quality concept. By providing sustainable criteria (economic, environmental, and social) as an integral part of the quality costs concept, this framework will improve the sustainability performance in the early phases of product design, increase the added value of the products and the duration of the added value, and strengthen the responsibility of all stakeholders beyond the limits of their organizational processes. This will inevitably lead to changes to the quality cost structure, dominated by new quality costs elements which reflect sustainability. This research demonstrates the findings that should support the setting the theoretic assumptions for the development of a sustainable quality cost generic model.

Abstract:
In accordance with the revision of the National Territory Planning Act in 2021, Article 52-2 “Expenses for Installation of Public Facilities” was newly established, which is evaluated as providing a legal basis for public contribution. However, in the past, it was mainly understood as free transfer, contributed acceptance or the goal of contributed acceptance or the recovery of development profits by providing development benefits to the public itself has been recognized as a public contribution, As a result of comparing it with existing systems that have been used as a means of securing publicity, It is judged that the obligation to install public facilities, etc. under Article 52-2 does not include all existing concepts of public contribution. This clause includes development gains and planned gains on land value increases due to changes in district unit plans and in that it is implemented in the form of contributed acceptance, so It may be evaluated as including all the conventional concepts of public contribution. But since it was revised for the purpose of resolving long-term unexecuted urban planning facilities and supplying public rental housing, it is desirable to understand that existing means of securing publicity have been added. Therefore, through the systems used as a means of realizing public contribution, this study suggested the need to expand the concept of public contribution by pointing out the ambiguous concept of public contribution, which is the ultimate purpose of the system in the process of securing publicity, and limitations in the realization of public contribution due to this. However, as the concept of public contribution expands, various means may be repeatedly and indiscriminately overused in the name of securing publicity, so a basic legal basis covering the concept of public contribution in a broad sense should be prepared, and establishing a long-term plan for organic operation and procedures should be considered.

As methods for concept analysis have evolved, scholars have confounded the initial exploration of a concept with techniques for developing the conceptual unit, extending nursing theory, and establishing nursing knowledge. We argue that nursing is at a critical juncture in the methodological development of concept-driven research. In order to maximize the potential contribution of this type of research, approaches to concept analysis must be held separate and distinct from approaches to concept advancement. We advocate the use of principle-based concept analysis to determine appropriate techniques for advancing a concept. Concept advancement refers to strategic concept-driven inquiries that incrementally build the specification of conceptual meaning to a more precisely defined unit of meaning that has greater utility for research application. Examples of a project that employed strategic techniques for concept advancement are used to illustrate the flow of serial small projects.

This review seeks to highlight Chomsky's major contributions to the field of linguistics. He changed linguists' conception about the nature of language from an externalized to internalized approach. This shift also resulted in the language being thought of as a cognitive phenomenon rather than as a set of structures to be analyzed for their correctness or incorrectness to prove his stance introduced the concept of language faculty, its workings, Universal Grammar, Principles and Parameters, and Transformational and Generative Grammar. The TGG also significantly overhauled the existent phrase structure rules. These rules were brought to follow binarity principles that dictated that a node cannot have less than or more than two branches. Besides the concept of Universal Grammar, along with its principles and parameters, Chomsky simplified how the language acquisition process can be understood: instead of learning hundreds of rules, the human mind has to install a handful of principles and parameters.

Abstract This article argues that Jean-Jacques Rousseau can be seen as a public theologian by analyzing two well-known treatises. It draws on the Latin root of the concept of the ‘public’, in order to underscore the anthropology and sociology of public life. The article argues that Rousseau is a public theologian as his public policy of social organization, presupposes anthropological and sociological views of humanity that parallel views found in Christian theology.

Abstract:
Purpose Performance management (PM) is an important tool to enhance productivity. However, its Achilles heel is its lack of future orientation. The main reason for this is that PM systems fail to empirically link competencies to results. The purpose of this paper is to address this gap. Design/methodology/approach This study uses literature review and deductive logic to evolve the concept of “Contribution of Competencies (CC)” and proof tests it quantitatively. Findings The impact of a level of competency on the results of a job can be determined by CC. The gap between expected and actual CC can predict future performance, determine the training needs with precision and measure individual efficacy and human capital adequacy of a department/an organization. Research limitations/implications This is single organization research for proof of concept. Multi-organizational research using empirical study linking CC with demonstrated performance can make the concept of CC more robust. Practical implications CC helps to: prioritize training for competencies that would impact performance with surgical precision, fix responsibility for failure to perform on individual/organizational factors, compare individual employees across functions, determine interdepartmental/inter-firm human capital efficacy, and evaluate human capital of a firm. Originality/value Empirical expression of the nature of relationship between competency levels and results through CC and its byproducts, individual efficacy ratio, and human capital adequacy ratio are original contributions.

This contribution scrutinizes Shakespeare knowledge and views about cosmological theories i.e. Ptolemaic, Copernicus, TychoBrahe and Galileo. It in addition claims that William Shakespeare had a profound interest and specialized knowledge in the domain of technical astronomy. Plays by Shakespeare are loaded with astronomical allusions. Because that is injected in Shakespeare’s nature to discuss every aspect of his age like medicine, falconry and agriculture but his astronomy is quite interesting. Furthermore, this effort examines the Shakespeare’s astronomical concept in allegorical form in his plays, especially in Hamlet, King Lear, Othello, Julius and Ceaser, Henry VI, The Tempest and Antony and Cleopatra.

Abstract:
The purpose of this research is to find out how important it is for a building that has a healthy building approach or concept that will have a positive impact on the users of the building itself. To support the research, we use the method of collecting data from several journals found related to the research title. The results of this study indicate that every design of a building must pay attention to the element of thermal comfort from each room, the concept of healing environment, pay attention to the use of materials, and must also apply the concept of sustainable architecture. In this study, things that must be considered are what the concept of thermal comfort is good for the health of the building users themselves, the concept of healing environment, the use of materials, and also the concept of sustainable architecture. It can be concluded that the building is said to be healthy if all the discussion criteria can be implemented properly. Users of the building itself, of course, not only feel the comfort of the building that is used, but can indirectly have a positive impact on the health of the users themselves, and can also survive in a fairly long period of time.

Abstract:
Starting from the renewed interest into the concept of the ?internal colonialism? within the contemporary ?postcolonial studies?, this paper discusses the origin and the meaning of the concept in various theoretical traditions and scientific fields. The first part interprets ?internal colonialism? and ?internal colonization? from the perspective of historical and political-economic debates on the Russian and Soviet imperial structure, and from the sociological critique of the social development of the Stalinist epoch. The second part is dedicated to the analysis of the effect and limitations of the use of the concept in interpreting the integrative (French) nationalism and interpreting the reactive, (Celtic) minority nationalisms within Great Britain. In the final part the author has interpreted the meanings that ?internal colonialism? had in sociological analysis of the states of the ?capitalist periphery? (Latin America) and in the political discourse of the ?New Left? protest movements in the USA as a ?capitalist metropolis?. By pointing out the close connection of the analyses of ?colonialism in one country? with Marxist tradition of research into class structure of society, the author concludes that the concept of ?internal colonialism? today is primarily used as a metaphor that finds a useful application within the ?cultural studies?. From that point of view, the history of the concept illustrates the change of the theoretical discourse that characterises social sciences after the ?cultural turn?.
