Full textSchizophrenia is a serious and common mental illness; it remains unknown in Algeria. Not enough studies are concerned with understanding how the family lives with this disease in the Algerian socio-cultural context. It is precisely on this subject, that this thesis carries. Indeed, its objective is to understand how patients live daily with their respective families and how each of them perceives care offers.Given the theme and the entanglement of different variables involved in this experience, the qualitative clinical approach was the most appropriate. The corpus consists of: observations of five families during their visits to patients hospitalized in the psychiatric ward; semi-directive individual research interviews with three sibling pairs and a couple pair, these interviews were followed by the family system test (FAST de Gehring, 1999).The results of this research show that there is: suffering and social isolation of families and the patient, stigmatization and rejection of the patient by society and by some members of his family, a feeling of overload and 'burden' in and the coexistence of two explanatory models of the causes of the onset of schizophrenia: the medical-psychological (internal) model that involves emotional shock (in the military, victim of family injustice...) or head damage, and the traditional model that incriminates supernatural (external) forces that have altered the patient behaviour

Full textThis study is in keeping with the socio-cultural context of Senegal, a society so-called “in development”, where tradition and modernity are opposed. This cultural disparity is taking a huge place in the educational system. The Koranic school, which is a traditional institution, is opposed to the “modern school”, a remainder of the French settlement. Since 1990, this type of school is compulsory for every Senegalese children between 6 and 12 years old. Actually, only two third of those children goes to the so–called “modern school”. Our purpose is, first, to show how society and social change's representations, combined to child and education's representations guide parents educative strategies and their choice of school attendance. Secondly, we will evaluate the place of the educative experience for the construction of the child's identity and for the creation of a singular attitude towards society and social change. This will be done by focusing on the education and social change's representations. Those representations have been apprehended during half directive talks, accomplished with forty subjects (parents and Senegalese children) and put in evidence by a lexicometric analyse (Alceste software) and some cases' studies. Results are showing that, either for parents and children, important changes concerning representations of the society and of the social change are linked to school attendance's methods : for parents, we observe identities strategies to avoid conflicts of specific codes, linked to their choice of school attendance. For children, identities and particular relations to society and to changes are linked to their educative experiences

Full textDuring the last decade, the use of connected objects has rapidly evolved to converge towards the health's field. Our PhD work focuses on the information and communication practices of users of mobile health applications. If it appears from the literature (Arruabarrena, 2016; Lupton, 2015a; Mahmood et al., 2019; Vaghefi & Tulu, 2019) that mobile health applications are likely to help their users to "self-manage" their health, they are not sufficiently questioned from the point of view of the social changes (Lupton, 2014a) that they can generate in a society. This lack of reflection raises socio-cultural questions about how users integrate these mobile apps into their daily lives. Our thesis addresses how social factors combined with other factors, such as culture or level of education, can influence the information and communication practices of users in a particular context like Morocco. Moroccans find themselves between two ambivalent spheres: on the one hand, a conservative context where they are expected to conform to mores and inhibiting norms. On the other, the world of mobile health applications characterized by freedom of expression, where they can search or discuss health topics that are taboo in Moroccan society. To understand the information and communication practices of users, we first distributed a questionnaire, to which we obtained 384 responses. Secondly, during the period 2017 and 2021, we carried out semi-structured interviews with 35 users who glimpse disparate information practices. Our thesis has a double objective. Initially, we want to understand how Moroccans seek and communicate health information, in the light of the socio-cultural constraints that are specific to them. To do so, we have chosen the model of Pamela McKenzie (2003) which enables to elucidate the constraints of seeking health information and how the user can circumvent them. Secondly, we want to apprehend the representations of users relating to mobile health applications and their self-unveiling within these mobile apps. The results of our survey highlight the fact that the Moroccan socio-cultural context has certain particularities that can hinder information and communication practices in the health's field. It is a country marked by a high rate of illiteracy, by gender inequalities and by a community life based on religious taboo and respect for traditions. Consequently, users' information and communication practices may be in conformity or out of step with the norms and values of the context in which they live

Full textAs we approach the close of the twentieth century, international communication arises from construction of a common reality. One is encouraged to inquire about cross-cultural uses in terms of space, time and nonverbal parameters which create a hierarchy of codes for regulating interaction in each society. Thus, the case of modern urban japan is being analysed through the eyes of westerners (franco-catalans). Each society provides us with distinct interactive styles which are syntherized through face-to-face interaction. This leads us to reconsider our ability to alter our attention among our own culture in order to adopt a new behaviour, better-fit for nowadays world-wide cross-cultural integration
