Abstract:
At present, the conventional construction project cost prediction method mainly constructs the cost prediction model by quantifying the engineering information, which leads to poor prediction effect due to the lack of construction of cost prediction index system. In this regard, the research of construction cost prediction model based on recurrent neural network is proposed. By classifying and integrating the construction project cost concepts, constructing the prediction index system, combining with the recurrent neural network algorithm, constructing the excitation function and calculating the initialization threshold, and finally constructing the prediction model. In the experiment, the proposed method is verified for the prediction accuracy. After the experiments, it can be proved that when the proposed model is used to predict the engineering cost, the root mean square error of the model output is small and has a more ideal prediction accuracy.

Full text
Abstract:
Compared with ordinary tunnels, the influence analysis of underwater tunnel adjacent constructions is more complicated. At present, the empirical method used to divide the influence zone of the tunnel adjacent constructions has great uncertainty. So it is of great significance for actual construction and design to determine the influence zone accurately according to theoretical calculations. In this paper, based on the Hoek–Brown nonlinear failure criterion of rock mass and taking seepage factor into account, the stress state of rock mass around the underwater tunnel adjacent constructions can be deduced by elastoplastic theory. Then combined with the concept of “loose zone-bearing zone”, the influence zone division method of underwater tunnel adjacent constructions is proposed, and it is applied to the analysis of engineering examples. Through the deduced theoretical formulas, the influence zone of underwater tunnel adjacent construction can be divided into extensively strong, strong, relatively strong, weak, and noninfluence zones. Corresponding the influence zones with the risk levels in the code, different control measures are adopted for different risk levels, which can provide certain guidance for the design and construction of tunnel in practical engineering.

Abstract:
Material resources are one of the main elements of the construction cost estimate. The nomenclature of material resources includes a large number of items. It is impossible to objectively estimate the construction cost, capital construction, and maintenance works without carrying out monitoring of the prices of constructional resources and accounting for these data in estimates. The purpose of the present study consists in developing an engineering approach to the simulation of pricing in the construction materials’ market. To achieve this purpose, we use mathematical statistics methods such as linear regression and autoregressive integrated moving average, as well as machine learning methods, namely gradient boosting and recurrent neural networks. In consequence of this work, we proposed a scheme to store statistical information based on the SpagoBI business intelligence platform, as well as designed hybrid intelligent predictive model, which allowed automating the engineering approach to the prediction of prices and objectifying advanced analytics of the construction materials’ market. The proposed engineering approach allows predicting the dynamics of the construction materials’ market segments when managing the construction cost at the level of enterprise and the region that will enable adequate decision- making in the course of investment projects development.

Abstract:
The purpose of this article is to select and substantiate the criteria for protective construction monitoring of main pipelines. Main pipelines are constantly exposed to influences of external and internal factors. Special protective constructions are being raised to ensure the continuous operation of the pipelines. The main goal of creating protective constructions is to minimize economic losses and preserve the environmental characteristics of the facility. All existing protective constructions can be divided into two large groups: earth work and engineering constructions. Each of these groups includes different types of the constructions. All of them are designed to ensure safety of main pipelines from a certain natural phenomenon. It is also necessary to ensure constant monitoring of their geometric state regardless the protective construction type. Various data can be used for monitoring, among which the Earth remote sensing data perform a special role. One of the main issues in the construction monitoring is the explanation of the arising measurement errors. This requires knowledge of complex precision calculations theory. It is also necessary to take into account that a visual inspection of the construction defects is imperative in any calculations. A classification of protective constructions is given. The base of the accuracy calculation theory that is necessary to substantiate the errors in the protective construction monitoring is discussed. The main accuracy standards based on this theory are highlighted. The results of the performed analysis are the numerical values of the accuracy criteria for various protective construction types.

Based on the CNKI database from 2002-2019, this paper conducts the comprehensive literature survey on the BIM applications in construction engineering. Aiming to pros and cons summarized from the current research examples, the BIM shows great potential and the related study is a rapidly evolving field in construction engineering. In general, the diversity of BIM application studies is involved in construction engineering, such as, design and construction of new building, operation and maintenance of the existing buildings. BIM can be a powerful tool if it was properly taken advantage. However, the BIM application in design is more emphasized than that in the other aspects, which hinders the popularization of its application. Therefore, suggestions for future research are given accordingly: (i) constructing a feasible and flexible system according to the different applications; (ii) expanding the research content based on proposed system; (iii) establishing a method of evaluation of BIM application.

Abstract In the last years, research applications in the construction sector have taken a different turn due to rapid urbanization and the necessity to protect the environment and create a balance between the natural and built environments. Taking into account the fact that the thermal efficiency of buildings has an important influence over the environmental performances of the construction sector, the civil engineering specialists have tried to develop and use different new solutions in order to improve this essential building characteristic. Thus, different new materials have been used with the goal of reducing the overall thermal transmittance of the envelope elements and of the total energy consumption needed for heating and cooling. Perlite is one of the materials that have been considered for developing new energy efficient construction applications. The main goal of the present paper is to present all the relevant solutions that have been developed and used in the construction sector that consider perlite as a component part. The present study is the first part of a more extensive research program that takes under evaluation the possibility of using perlite as a thermal insulating material for different constructions.

FunGramKB is a multipurpose lexico-conceptual knowledge base for natural language processing systems, and more particularly, for natural language understanding. The linguistic layer of this knowledge-engineering project is grounded in compatible aspects of two linguistic accounts, namely, Role and Reference Grammar (RRG) and the Lexical Constructional Model (LCM). RRG, although originally a lexicalist approach, has recently incorporated constructional configurations into its descriptive and explanatory apparatus. The LCM has sought to understand from its inception the factors that constrain lexical-constructional integration. Within this theoretical context, this paper discusses the format of lexical entries, highly inspired in RRG proposals, and of constructional schemata, which are organized according to the descriptive levels supplied by the LCM. Both lexical and constructional structure is represented by means of Attribute Value Matrices (AVMs). Thus, the lexical and grammatical levels of FunGramKB are the focus of our attention here. Additionally, the need for a conceptualist approach to meaning construction is highlighted throughout our discussion.

Abstract:
The paper investigates new robust code constructions based on bent functions and spline–wavelet transformation. Implementation of bent functions in code construction increases the probability of error detection in the data channel and cryptographic devices. Meanwhile, the use of spline wavelet theory for constructing the codes gives the possibility to increase system security from the actions of an attacker. Presented constructions combine spline-wavelets functions and bent functions. Developed robust codes, compared to existing ones, have a higher parameter of the maximum error masking probability. Illustrated codes ensure the security of transmitted information. Some of the granted constructions were implemented on FPGA.

Abstract:
The spatial conflicts in the construction of high-speed railways not only reduce project efficiency, but also lead to serious accidents. To address these key issues, this paper presents a dynamic simulation method for constructions processes based on a virtual geographic environment. This approach can facilitate the identification of conflicts in the construction scheme through accurately expressing and analysing the intricate spatio-temporal relations among railway facility components, construction equipment and the surrounding environment. First, a high-precision virtual geographic scene in which the construction process and methods can be visualized and modelled intuitively is established with terrain, imagery, and engineering 3D models. Then, the overall construction processes can be accurately simulated by a sequential display of the railway components and the behaviour of construction equipment. To simulate the behaviour of construction equipment, the linkage relations between each joint of construction machinery are accurately modelled and animation control parameters are extracted. Finally, a construction simulation of a high-speed railway bridge was performed, and the experimental results show that the proposed method can provide a scientific basis for the optimization of complex engineering construction schemes, safety hazard assessments, and related full life cycle tasks.

Abstract:
AbstractRoad embankments, especially their slopes’ surfaces, must fulfil all the requirements concerning the exploitation criteria after the completion of construction works. This is very important while constructing or modernizing the embankments, based on the substrate including low-strength soils as well as in simple ground conditions (most convenient). The last dozen or so years of intensive construction of transport infrastructure have shown how big is the problem of ensuring the required volumes of qualified soil material for the construction of road embankments or the modernization of railway embankments. The depleting deposits of natural and easily accessible soils for the construction of embankments result in the need to use anthropogenic soils, for example, in the form of aggregates from the recycling of construction waste and other locally available waste materials, usually in the form of slag and ashes from the combined heat and power plants. In such cases, there’s a need to treat transportation earth structures individually in the scope of designing and quality control, because there are no applicable standard provisions in this scope. This work indicates some of these important contemporary problems of transport engineering, occurring in newly built and modernized road objects, such as the stability of road embankments based on a low-strength substrate, use of anthropogenic soils and materials originating from the recycling of concrete surfaces for the construction of road embankments.

Abstract:
Swell potential of soils from parts of Panyam, North – Central Nigeria were investigated covering 72 square kilometres within latitudes N9021′ and N9026′ and longitudes 9011′E and 9015′30″E. With the increase of civil engineering constructions and the scramble for limited portions of competent soils for such constructions, there is an urgent need in a developing nation to study and characterize such soils based on its geotechnical properties. The geotechnical studies include twenty soil samples taken within the 1.5m depth with the aim of determining the swell potential in order to give appropriate guide to any civil engineering design and construction. The direct method of soil analysis which is the coefficient of linear extensibility (COLE), which ranges from 0.02–0.17 was used for the study. COLE Values greater than 0.06, were considered to be critical for most civil engineering design and constructions. Most of the samples studied were considered not safe for bungalows and some infrastructure without proper safety measures carried out to improve upon it.
