This thesis examines the role of environmental, social, and economic consciousness as a motivating factor in the adoption of responsible behaviors by collaborative consumers and voluntary simplifiers. The current postmodern context, characterized by a growing concern for social and environmental issues, presents a unique opportunity to study the transition towards socially responsible behaviors. This research contributes to understanding how consciousness of socially responsible consumption can motivate consumers to adopt responsible behaviors. These results provide valuable insights for various stakeholders advocating for sustainable and socially responsible consumption

Over the last decade, forms of voluntary consumer work have emerged in different areas (transport, accommodation, repair, etc.). They lead to a shift from a consumer "served" by the market to an "auto-produced" consumer. This Phd thesis is based on the study of a form of organization part of this movement, through the realization of a longitudinal study of the creation and launch of a cooperative and participatory supermarket, La Louve. This non-profit project proposes to offer quality food products at low cost. The work of its members is at the heart of the organizational and economic model of the cooperative, each consumer member having to provide 3 hours of work per month.Through this research, the acceptance of consumer participation in marketing, of working consumers (Dujarier, 2010), of voluntary work and of alternative are shaken. The thesis identifies a new form of work carried out by consumer-volunteers who self-assign the demands of professionals. It highlights the emergence of an organizational form supported by an alternative and responsible discourse, but whose management practices remain anchored in a pragmatic and non-militant approach. This collective of consumers reveals a utopian and pragmatist approach, the cooperators agreeing to provide free work by reproducing the salaried model of the companies and put into practice their skills to first meet their own needs. From this research, a new register of meaning emerges, that of a consumer working in a voluntary way characterized by his commitment without militancy and limited by a contract of voluntary work
Folz, Pauline. "Collaboration dans une fédération de consommateurs de données liées." Thesis, Nantes, 2017. http://www.theses.fr/2017NANT4052/document.
Following the Linked Data principles, data providers have published billions of RDF facts on the web. Anyone can retrieve some relevant information from the Linked Data by executing SPARQL queries. Such queries are useful in many domains including health or data journalism. However, there is a trade-off between performances of the queries and data availability when executing SPARQL queries. In this thesis, we have investigated how the collaboration of data consumers is opening new opportunities in this trade-off. More precisely, how the collaboration of data consumers can improve performances without degrading availability, or can improve availability without degrading performances. We consider that Linked Data can allow anyone to run a compact mediator that executes SPARQL queries over data sources on the web. The main idea is to connect these mediators together to build a federation of Linked Data consumers. In this federation, each mediator interacts with a subset of the network. Thanks to this federation, we have built : (i) a decentralized cache hosted by mediators. This client-side cache is able to handle a significative part of subqueries and then improve data availability without a low impact on performances. (ii) a delegation algorithm that allows mediators to delegate their queries to other mediators. We have demonstrated that delegation allows to run the workloads faster when collaborating. This clearly improves performances without degrading data availability
Malardé, Vincent. "Économie collaborative et régulation des plateformes numériques." Thesis, Rennes 1, 2019. http://www.theses.fr/2019REN1G006.
Facilitated by peer-to-peer platforms, the sharing economy has become part of the French way of life. Airbnb, Blablacar, Leboncoin... these platforms are now well known in France. This thesis aims to provide more elements, both theoretical and empirical, to inform the current debates around these platforms. This thesis work begins by using survey data to measure the importance of the use of collaborative platforms in France, and to establish the socio-economic characteristics of users. Then this thesis focuses on the dynamics of developing a collaborative platform, through the example of the French home-to-work ride-sharing platform, iDVROOM. The objective is to study the complementary role of network effects, spatial effects and community effects on the development of the platform. The rest of this thesis focuses on the competition between the short-term rental platform Airbnb and the hotel industry in Paris. The effect of the density of hosts on the collaborative platform on the price charged by an hotel is the subject of a firstempirical study, before being modeled in a theoretical way to discuss the possible effects of a set of alternative regulations of the platform’s activity. Finally, competition between two platforms is analysed when they have the possibility of implementing tariff discrimination strategies designed to encourage supplier exclusivity. The conclusion develops the implications of these results forpolicy makers, platforms and academic research
Bailly, Adrien. "De la consommation collaborative à l’économie de plateformes : étude des transactions entre particuliers dans l’espace socio-numérique." Thesis, Université de Lorraine, 2019. http://www.theses.fr/2019LORR0220.
The last decade has been marked by the emergence of numerous economic models associated with the notion of collaborative consumption. These consumption contexts need consumers to conduct new activities. This research aims to provide a theoretical understanding of these emerging practices. The notion of collaborative consumption itself is an important part of the phenomenon that we try to understand but doesn’t help us to circumscribe the object of this research. Indeed, the definitions proposed by researchers and by consumers do not allow to identify the specificity of collaborative practices. In this context, we choose to define the research object from a spatial point of view. The massive diffusion of digital technologies makes it possible to link spaces which were previously separate. It allows to carry out transactions that mix elements which traditionally belonged to the economic sphere or to the domestic sphere. This research is therefore limited to these transactions initiated online, i.e. those specific to a platform economy. A theory of science inspired by the pragmatist tradition and a mainly ethnographic methodological apparatus were used to study these transactions. Our study of the website www.leboncoin.fr allows us to identify how this platform fosters the acquisition of market skills without managing to solve the social exclusion inherent to this intermediation model. Our study of private renting initiated online allows us to explore the relationships between users and platforms induced by a more bureaucratic intermediation model. We also show the professionalization of practices. This work allows us to conclude that collaborative consumption is above all a set of narratives that accompany and legitimize platform capitalism and that intermediation relationships cannot be understood without taking into account the way in which consumers perform them and try to transform them

Ethical, responsible and sustainable consumption represent different forms of political consumerism, which aim at denouncing the consequences of the consumption society. Some individuals go beyond this consumerism, by resisting contemporary consumption society. This structural resistance is studied in this thesis using an ethnomarketing approach to study people who calls for economic degrowth and fight against three myths: the abundance myth, the market myth and the progress myth. These representations associated with the degrowth ideology have implications for production, exchange and consumption. Our observations draw attention to some interesting characteristics of this population in terms of avoidance of industrial production to the benefit of self-production, with a view to self-determination, the choice of a local territory and hybrid strategies combining the commercial and non-commercial spheres for exchanges as well as frugal and collective means of consumption. These characteristics are associated with those of the voluntary simplicity life style in a French context and are set in the perspective of symbolic dimensions of consumption

Equity crowdfunding is a recent investment mode, opening acces to venture capital to unsophisticated investors. ECF allows platform-based online investment within a virtual community. This research aims to improve understanding of indivual investors financial products consumption, in the ECF context, the so-called crowdinvestors.Building on consumption value theory, this research helps defining ECF-investment value sources for crowdinvestors. It focuses especially on the ‘participation in community’ dimension of ECF as a determinant of various investment behaviors.A litterature review in entrepreneurial finance is presented to define profiles, motivations, investment behaviors and quality signals influencing crowdinvestors’ investment decision. To answer three main research questions, an exploratory study was conducted on 13 members on french ECF platform WiSEED. We put in evidence the difference between the investment experience and the participation in community experienceThus, an empirical study based on a theoretical model is conducted and various PLS analysis are run on a set of 436 surveys answered by WiSEED members. Results show that perceived value of participation experience has a positive and significant influence on perceived value of investment but no influence at all on investment decision.Though, we highlight the central role of individuals’ venture capital expertise both on their investment (amount and number), their engagement within the platform community and their participation experience perceived value. inally, results indicate that perceived risk is not a moderator of the model whereas investor sophistication is
Beaudouin, Vanessa. "Le comportement du consommateur à l'égard des circuits courts alimentaires : une étude anthropologique du mouvement amapien." Thesis, Rennes 1, 2014. http://www.theses.fr/2014REN1G023.
In an economic context of globalization characterized by a succession of environmental, social and health crises, the recent development of alimentary short supply chains illustrates a major change in the perception of ethic and local consumption. Among these supply chains, the AMAPs, Associations for the Preservation of Local Farming, are grounded in local fair trade and constitute an increasingly privileged mode of supply. Based on ethnomarketing method, of long period immersion on the research field, this thesis aims to a thorough understanding of amapien's consumption. Emerging results lead us to first discuss the concept of proximity, through highlighting the link between proximity, trust and alimentary reassurance. Second, allow us to highlight a quest for the reenchantment of consumption, that requires the valorization of the act of simple buying and a quest for hedonism in the experience of consumption, the rooting of the individual through the quest of link and authenticity by consumption and finally a quest for spirituality. Finally, these results brought to light the empowerment of the amapien consumer, who takes power by participating to the shaping of market offer, and thanks to a socially responsible consumption, that may be connected, for some amapiens, to a resistance through and to consumption
Chamsi, Abu Quba Rana. "On enhancing recommender systems by utilizing general social networks combined with users goals and contextual awareness." Thesis, Lyon 1, 2015. http://www.theses.fr/2015LYO10061/document.
We are surrounded by decisions to take, what book to read next? What film to watch this night and in the week-end? As the number of items became tremendous the use of recommendation systems became essential in daily life. At the same time social network become indispensable in people’s daily lives; people from different countries and age groups use them on a daily basis. While people are spending time on social networks, they are leaving valuable information about them attracting researchers’ attention. Recommendation is one domain that has been affected by the social networks widespread; the result is the social recommenders’ studies. However, in the literature we’ve found that most of the social recommenders were evaluated over Epinions, flixter and other type of domains based recommender social networks, which are composed of (users, items, ratings and relations). The proposed solutions can’t be extended directly to General Purpose Social Networks (GPSN) like Facebook and Twitter which are open social networks where users can do a variety of useful actions that can be useful for recommendation, but as they can’t rate items, these information are not possible to be used in recommender systems! Moreover, evaluations are based on the known metrics like MAE, and RMSE. This can’t guarantee the satisfaction of users, neither the good quality of recommendation

Face to the ongoing rapid expansion of the Internet, user requires help to access to items that may interest her or him. A personalized recommender system filters relevant items from huge catalogue to particular user by observing his or her behavior. The approach based on observing user behavior from his interactions with the website is called usage analysis. Collaborative Filtering and Content-Based filtering are the most widely used techniques in personalized recommender system. Collaborative filtering uses only data from usage analysis to build user profile, while content-based filtering relies in addition on semantic information of items. Hybrid approach is another important technique, which combines collaborative and content-based methods to provide recommendations. The aim of this thesis is to present a new hybridization approach that takes into account the semantic information of items to enhance collaborative recommendations. Several approaches have been proposed for learning a new user profile inferring preferences for semantic information describing items. For each proposed approach, we address the sparsity and the scalability problems. We prove also, empirically, an improvement in recommendations accuracy against collaborative filtering and content-based filtering
