Abstract:
Enterprise systems (ESs) are customizable, integrated software applications designed to support core business processes. This paper reports research contrasting the relative effectiveness of two strategies for ES end-user training that differentially reflect the Sein, Bostrom, and Olfman (1999) hierarchical knowledge-level model. One strategy— procedural—involves training that targets the three lowest knowledge levels of the model (command-based, tool-procedural, and business-procedural); the other—tool-conceptual—involves training that also includes a higher knowledge level (tool-conceptual). A non-equivalent quasi-experimental design was used for groups of senior business students being trained to use an authentic ES. Performance measures were administered during training and ten days after training concluded. Both experiments demonstrated that training involving the tool-conceptual knowledge level leads to superior mental models, compared with training oriented toward lower knowledge levels, as expressed in the recollection and communication of ES concepts. Tool-conceptual knowledge-level training can be used to promote understanding and communication, and should be incorporated into training strategies for ES.

Abstract:
Abstract Ethnochoreologists are now more open to the study of folk dance revival groups, though they still lack common terminology or conceptual frameworks. Based upon the motivations and priorities of their participants, dance groups can be identified as “Enjoyers,” “Preservers,” “Presenters,” “Creators,” or perhaps “All-stars.” Several examples show how each of these strategies may impact on the organizational structures, dance forms and other aspects of the groups’ activities. These conceptual categories are presented with the suggestion that they may be useful for researchers, government policymakers, and dance group leaders.

Abstract:
Based on a review of the extant literature, a conceptual framework for analyzing the associations between managerial strategies (internal communications, empowerment, supportive leadership and professional development), employee job attitudes (organizational commitment and job satisfaction) and prosocial service behaviours (PSBs) is developed. The authors explore the relevance of the proposed conceptual model and testable propositions regarding the associations between managerial strategies, employee attitudes and PSBs by conducting in-depth interviews of FLEs in a travel service organization. Based on the findings of the in-depth interviews, the relationships between managerial strategies, job attitudes and PSBs in the conceptual framework are largely supported.

Abstract:
Learning objectives can be achieved in various ways, one of which is by implementing learning strategies. This study aims to explore the effectiveness of Theoanthropocentric learning strategies for improving students’ conceptual understanding skills. The research population is all junior high school students (SMP), and the sample comprises students from class VIII. The random cluster sampling technique was used to choose the study’s sample. The data collection method used in this research is the conceptual understanding test. Descriptive and inferential statistics serve for data analysis, including the independent t-test. The results show a significant difference between the conceptual understanding of students who used Theoanthropocentric learning strategies and those who did not use Theoanthropocentric learning strategies. The descriptive statistical test results show that the students in the experimental group have a higher mean score than students in the control group. The independent t-test result has strengthened the statistical test results, namely, 0.00 (p 0.05), from the finding, it follows that the application of theoanthropocentric learning strategies has an enormous impact on improving students’ conceptual understanding skills. Therefore, the Theoanthropocentric approach could be used as a solution to improve students’ conceptual understanding skills.

Abstract:
This article tackles some methodological issues in sociological theory, in particular as a way to resume the discussion of modernity with a systematic intent. Descriptions and descriptive concepts are distinguished from middle-range analytical categories, which are distinguished from general analytical categories. History and evolution are also included methodologically in the analysis. Trend-concepts, which imply the development of some features of modernity in the long run, have not been adequately dealt with by sociology recently, so their status therefore remains undefined. It is these that offer the focus of this article. This is discussed initially in general terms, and the theme is then deepened through an analysis of secularization processes, drawing on the concept of collective subjectivity in order to take the discussion beyond individual action and structural-functional features. Analytical concepts receive pride of place in the methodological strategies suggested in the article.

Full text
Abstract:
Branding has become a business priority over the past few decades due to the growing awareness that brands are one of the companies’ most valuable intangible assets. Academics and practitioners have proposed models of components to simplify brands into a small number of parts, or dimensions. Nonetheless, there is a lack of specific approaches to brand management models that fit specific business scenarios. The objective of this study was to propose a general framework to create custom brand management strategies that fit specific business scenarios through a set of independent brand dimensions. The framework was applied to the specific case of SME alliance in a B2B export environment as an example of use. This study reviews the most cited brand management models in literature and classified them into 12 independent brand dimensions. The results suggest that regardless of the brand management model, all of them converge on the fact that creating a high-quality brand relationship with the customer is crucial for the branding process. Findings suggest non-evident relationships between dimensions. The findings also suggest that brand dimensions’ and brand dimension relationships’ importance in specific business scenarios shape brand management models in unique ways.

Full text
Abstract:
Abstract Narrative identity is most often assessed via prompts for key autobiographical scenes (e.g., turning points). Here, self-presentation strategies were examined in relation to the content and structure of key scenes. Participants (N = 396) provided narratives of life high points, low points, and turning points from within one of four assessment contexts and completed measures of self-deception positivity (SD) and impression management (IM). Narratives were coded for a series of linguistic (e.g., causation words) and conceptual (e.g., redemption) dimensions. Individual differences in IM corresponded with the linguistic and conceptual content of participants’ low points. This effect was particularly evident among females (as compared to males) and the conceptual content of key scenes in conditions in which participants provided written (as compared to spoken) narrative accounts. These results carry implications for the assessment and analysis of narrative identity.

Abstract:
“Employee turnover” as an expression is broadly used in business organization. Despite the fact that several studies have been performed on this topic, little research has been conducted on examining the causes and leading factors of turnover as well, as advising some feasible approaches, which can be applied by bosses to ensure that employees will continue in their respective organizations to enhance organizational effectiveness and productivity. The main purpose of this study is to determine the reasons and key factors in the perspectives of the relevant literature and identify to the intention of employee turnover. This conceptual paper also suggests various possible strategies on how to minimize the turnover and retain employees in the organizations. Hence, the paper has proposed a conceptual framework that shows the major variables in explaining the phenomenon of employee turnover and addressing sound retention strategies to handle these issues.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to explore the possible effects of corporate environmental activities on sustainable competitive advantage through the mediation of leadership factors and effective implementation strategies. Design/methodology/approach The work is essentially non-empirical review of the literature with the development of a conceptual model which can be tested in a later study. Findings The study proposes that corporate environmental activities can give firms competitive advantage. The studies also propose that stakeholders can act as pressure thereby moderating the relationship between corporate environmental activities and sustainable competitive advantage. Leadership factors and effective implementation affect competitive advantage. Research limitations/implications This study has a few limitations that must be considered and could provide guidance for future study; as this study does not address customers point of view, future study could help in the investigation in order to get a holistic view. Moreover, the study is based on the literature, and the conceptual model has not been tested. Practical implications The study proposes that good leadership and effectiveness in strategy implementation can make corporate environmental activities lead to sustainable competitive advantage. The findings of the study provide managers of firms with a possible tool in creating sustainable competitive advantage. Originality/value Despite the rapid growth in research on environmental issues in corporate world, limited studies have been conducted on how leadership factors and effectiveness of strategy implementation can influence how corporate environmental activities affect competitiveness of firms. This study makes an original contribution by proposing strategies for sustainable competitive advantage through the instrumentality of corporate environmental decisions.

Abstract:
The article systematizes the existing theoretical approaches to revealing the essence of the definition "a region’s economic security strategy". The strategy of economic security should be a priority in ensuring the goals of inclusive development of regions, their competitiveness and stability. The order of development of this strategy includes: 1) forming the strategic goals of economic security of the region taking into account the management hierarchy; 2) strategic analysis of the external and internal security environment of the region; 3) identifying the strategy options; 4) determining the strategic alternatives and priorities of economic security of the region; 5) implementing the strategy; 6) monitoring the determinants of the economic security management process; 7) control; 8) adjustment of appropriate measures for economic security in the region. A number of new strategies are proposed: 1) of equalization and elimination of risks, threats, and dangers, 2) of growth and activation of growth poles; 3) of active growth; 4) of advanced safety-oriented development; 5) innovation-investment and adaptive strategies. Strategies for equalization and elimination of risks, threats, and dangers for areas with signs of depression and a critically low level of security are aimed at overcoming imbalances in the socio-economic system of the region and restoring positive economic growth parameters. Strategies for growth and activation of growth poles are focused on identifying profitable economic activities in the region, increasing innovation and investment, and overcoming the existing low level of economic security. Strategies of active growth provide for positive dynamics of development of the economic subsystem in the region and indicators of its security and increase of internal potential for an economic breakthrough. Strategies of advanced security-oriented development are typical for leading regions with a high level of development of the economic subsystem in the region and its security with a focus on the long-term increase of regional economic activity and security indicators. Innovation-investment and adaptive strategies are typical for the region with the highest level of economic security based on the adequacy of financial security and concentration of innovation and investment potential in the region.

Abstract:
The article considers the features of the formation of a system of enterprise strategies. The views of scholars on the concept of «strategy» and its constituent elements are analyzed. On the basis of classical, complex, philosophical, organizational-managerial, system, and rational-proactive approaches to the classification of strategies and the schools of strategies of H. Mintzberg, the author proposes possible options for approaches to forming a system of enterprise strategies. The concepts of «strategy systems» and «formation of a system of strategies» are defined along with the constituent elements. The defined aspects of the formation of the enterprise’s system of strategies are as follows: competition, goal determination, training, cultural, analysis, change, choice, decision-making. Based on the analysis of definitions from the theory of strategic management, such key concepts as «strategic decisions», «strategic goals», «strategic alternatives», «strategic choice» and «strategic instrumentarium» were identified, upon which further research be built. A proactive approach to forming a system of strategies focuses on planning for the future. The basis of these strategies is to anticipate threats, challenges and opportunities in the business environment. Based on the analysis of H. Mintzberg’s strategy schools, attention was focused on three of the listed schools, on the basis of which the basic components for the formation of a system of enterprise strategies were identified – these are culture, knowledge, and the external environment. It can be argued that a unique culture is a unique resource of the organization. Culture contributes to obtaining unique results, it is characterized by causal uncertainty, which makes it difficult for understanding and copying. The presence in the organization of a complex of knowledge and technologies determines the uniqueness of this organization and its ability to engage in a specific type of activity at a certain level of quality. The external environment prepares the organization to adequately respond to external rapid changes and driving forces, to adapt to them, and to qualitatively overcome the hostility of the environment.

Abstract:
An individual optimizes its reproductive success by adopting a particular reproductive strategy. Studying the details of a reproductive strategy leads to an understanding of how sexual selection acts, as the former is the process via which the individual reproduces successfully. Hermaphroditic gastropods display a bewildering diversity of reproductive strategies, which may be due to their mode of gender expression, when compared with well-studied separate-sexed species. Extensive theoretical, observational, and experimental research has been conducted on this topic. However, despite our knowledge about the reproductive system of hermaphroditic gastropods, we still need to fill the gap between pre- and post-copulatory processes and reproductive success. Here, we review and propose conceptual and empirical approaches aimed at understanding reproductive strategies of hermaphroditic gastropods. In sum, our suggestions are (i) to focus on sex-biased traits, (ii) to take biologically reliable measurements at both the pre- and post-copulatory level that relate to reproductive success, and (iii) to examine the fitness consequences of biased sex allocation.

Abstract:
Research on innovative methods for Conceptual Design of Control Strategies (CDCS) is of great theoretical and engineering meaning. In this paper, TRIZ-aided innovation in CDCS was proposed. At first, a systematic approach to build a new theory of inventive problem solving specialized for control strategies (TRIZ-CS) was proposed with its systemic structure was given. Then the Block-Signal analysis model (B-S analysis model) was proposed based on Su-Field analysis model in TRIZ with its symbol system and application procedure. Finally four examples were given to show the rationality of TRIZ-aided innovation in CDCS and effectiveness of B-S analysis model. The examples show that TRIZ-aided innovation is a systematic, effective and practical innovative methodology for CDCS.

Abstract:
Purpose This paper aims to emphasize the importance of crafting and selecting business models and strategies of family business in the process of internationalization. Design/methodology/approach Based on literature review about international entrepreneurship, strategic management, models and strategies of internationalization, a new conceptual framework on family businesses internationalization is provided. Findings Family businesses, depending on their size, use different models and strategies to internationalize their activities. Originality/value This paper provides a new conceptual framework about internationalization of family businesses, which is based in three main phases: operating in a domestic market and get prepared for a foreign market, selecting the right model of internationalization and selecting the right strategy of internationalization. Beside the new conceptual model, the authors provide the implications of this model toward internationalization of family businesses, and the authors propose some useful recommendation for further research in this field.
