Abstract:
The objective of the article was to develop a method of evaluating diagnostic information basing on the existing systems of agricultural tractors diagnostic used in authorized service centers, which will improve of the quality of the evaluation process. Initially, available tractor diagnostic systems were identified in order to gather information about individual diagnostic signals. Following that, the information was verified by empirical evidence concerning a given failure. Thus, the work presents an original evaluation method of the information obtained from the agricultural tractor diagnostic. Obtaining diagnostic information generates certain costs, hence, it is necessary to rationalize and make the processes efficient. Further part of the thesis contains a description and logical verification of the developed method using empirical database. Finally, we presented the method's application for evaluating diagnostic information obtained from the tractor computer diagnostic, in order to examine its effectiveness and for a final verification. The described method of validating diagnostic information creates new cognitive and pragmatic possibilities.

Abstract:
Abstract We consider the problem of real-time scheduling in uniprocessor devices powered by energy harvesters. In particular, we focus on mixed sets of tasks with time and energy constraints: hard deadline periodic tasks and soft aperiodic tasks without deadlines. We present an optimal aperiodic servicing algorithm that minimizes the response times of aperiodic tasks without compromising the schedulability of hard deadline periodic tasks. The server, called Slack Stealing with energy Preserving (SSP), is designed based on a slack stealing mechanism that profits whenever possible from available spare processing time and energy. We analytically establish the optimality of SSP. Our simulation results validate our theoretical analysis.

Abstract:
Computers have been widely used in the community, because computers can ease human work. To operate it, you need special knowledge about computers to be able to run it properly. Although computers make human work easier, computers can also be damaged or error. Only some people can repair computers like computer technicians. Therefore, on this occasion we had the opportunity to provide training on how to assemble computers and repair them. With expertise in assembling and repairing computers, the community can also open up jobs that would certainly have a positive impact on the surrounding community. Computer users / Personal Computers (PC) have been found in various circles, one of them is SMKN2 students. But many computer uses (PC) do not know how to repair a computer in case of damage, not to mention a few technicians or computer experts who can be easily found. Because of this, damage to the computer will be a difficult problem to deal with. Although there are very few technicians that we can find, repairing or servicing computers requires quite expensive costs. On this occasion, we intend to hold community service in the form of PC technician training (Personal Computer) for SMA/SMK students who aim to provide understanding and skills in making repairs, assembling, and upgrading PCs with community service programs in the form of this training. Besides this training is not limited to the provision of theory, but combined with practice so that not only knowledge is given, but the skills and creativity that are honed in this training. Outcomes of this training are skills training services and publications in national service journals.

Abstract:
Increased wireless connectivity to vehicles invites both existing and new digital methods of attack, requiring the high prioritisation of security throughout the development of not just the vehicle, but also the services provided for it. This report examines such a connected car service used by thousands of customers every day and evaluates it from a security standpoint. The methods used for this evaluation include both direct testing of vulnerabilities, as well as the examination of design choices made which more broadly affect the system as a whole. With the results are included suggestions for solutions where necessary, and in the conclusion, design pitfalls and general considerations for system development are discussed.

Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs) are often used to enhance system performance, especially when a General Purpose Processor (GPP) is too inefficient or ill suited to perform a specialized task. However, the time and hardware costs inherent in the development and implementation of such a solution can be quite expensive. The use of Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) to implement a Reconfigurable Processor (RP) can help alleviate some of the overhead encountered with ASIC development. The RP is a dynamic processing node that can be configured in-circuit to compute any realizable function at run-time. After the function has finished execution, the RP can be reconfigured to compute a different function. This concept is illustrated with the reconfigurable, multimedia Chidi Processing System. A network of Chidi boards, each with a closely coupled GPP and RP, is used to execute a sequence of multimedia related functions. One of the main issues in utilizing a RP efficiently is the ability to provide it with data effectively. The design and implementation of a data servicing subsystem for the Chidi Reconfigurable Processor, in an effort to increase system performance, is the main focus of study. This research is supported by the Digital Life Consortium at the MIT Media Laboratory.

Abstract:
Due to the growing interest that current society has in new technologies, new products in the fields of information and communication technologies are emerging in new environments still unexploited. In this way, vehicles are a perfect frame for installing a lot of useful functionalities traditionally available at work or home environments. However, this expansion needs a suitable hardware and software support adapted for the market and user demands. The on-board software architecture developed in the frame of the thesis covers some of these issues and acts as the basis for the rest of proposals presented in the work. Integration of telematics and vehicular communications in next-generation cars will turn the provision of contextual information into the cornerstone of vehicular services. In the world of intelligent transportation systems (ITS) such capability has a key role in the transmission of traffic incidences. Although there are multitude of solutions for the problem of sharing information between vehicles and between the vehicle and the infrastructure, none presents a valid general communication architecture for the notification, storage, management and provision of context-aware information on traffic and current location. The proposal given in the thesis offers a solution using an integrated vehicle to vehicle (V2V) and vehicle to infrastructure (V2I) communication paradigm enriched with an information management system. The infrastructure manages all the collected safety hazards heard from vehicles and the interesting information to be provided to the user, and adapts these to the car's context and driver's preferences. Moreover, positioning requirements of this new generation of ITS services are continuously growing. New applications in the vehicular domain require positioning sensors with a high level of accuracy, availability, continuity and integrity. The proposed navigation and networking architectures are of special relevance in the thesis and, as it is explained, both of them imply novel designs not only in the vehicle, but also in the remote and road side support. In addition to the system design, a real vehicle prototype and the whole implementation of the system are presented. This test-bed has been also used to perform multitude of experimental evaluations, which demonstrate the suitability of the whole proposed platform.

Full text
Abstract:
ABSTRACT: The hypothesis in this thesis is that the use of software agents can improve the processes involved in the management of interlibrary loan (ILL) in Spanish university libraries.   The thesis have two main objectives: first, to analyze the processes involved in the management of ILL, comparing the Spanish model with international standards; second, to analyze the functionality of software agents in the field of libraries, assessing their feasibility and performance in the management of ILL, in order to ascertain its usefulness.   To achieve these objectives, two types of methodologies are applied: on the one hand a review of current literature and standards, and on the other an experimental methodology based on observation of the performance of computer agents in the management of ILL transactions. The use of three types of agents have been studied: agents that enable verification of administrative and bibliographic data of the requests, search agents who complete bibliographic references to minimize errors in the subsequent localization, and agents for synchronization status of requests from different ILL management systems. The tests for this compatibility have been tested among Spanish university libraries using GTBib ILL system and OCLC WorldShare integrated LMS.   As results of the literature and standards review we have profiled the characteristics and idiosyncrasies of the Spanish universities ILL model, in comparison to other countries like the US or UK. While in Spain a decentralized model prevails, in which each university library has its own management program (GTbib the prevalent one, with a 95% share), in other countries predominate centralized models, associated in most cases with a union catalog, as it is the case with OCLC in the US, or in other cases like UK where the model is based in a huge lending library and document supply center such as the British Library.   The results obtained after applying agents to ILL management systems have been very useful for some reasons: agents perform tasks efficiently and that improves the overall performance, with a reduced process time for the requests. That at the end gives to the user and the librarians a greater satisfaction and a timely control of the process.

Wu, Chris Kung. "The use of a laser imaging system for automated vehicle guidance and space servicing tasks." Thesis, 1990. http://hdl.handle.net/1911/19073.

Full text
Abstract:
This thesis presents a simulation of a laser imaging system for automated vehicle guidance and space servicing tasks. Data generated by this system are used to command a robot navigating in an unconstrained natural terrain. A computer graphics simulation program which emulates laser range scanners was developed and used for generating the required range images in this research. This simulation eliminates the need for an expensive laser scanner for developing laser data processing algorithms. Because the precise geometric information of the artificial objects in the scene is available, the simulation program can also be used as a testbed for evaluating laser data processing algorithms. Techniques and algorithms for converting laser range data to terrain maps were investigated and are presented in this thesis. A noise insensitive edge detector was developed for extracting wireframes of objects from the range data. By combining this edge detector with the Locus algorithm developed at Carnegie Mellon University, topographical terrain maps were derived from the sensory data. A 3-D sensor-based direct search algorithm was developed for finding collision-free optimal navigation paths using the terrain maps. This path planner generates paths of any desired degree of smoothness which can be readily used by the steering mechanism of mobile robots. A procedure for using a laser range finder and infrared proximity sensor for locating a satellite in space is also presented. The ultimate goal of this research is to develop a real time laser imaging system for automated vehicle guidance and object recognition.

Abstract:
Cloud computing is a service model in internet that provides virtualized resources to its clients. These types of servicing give a lot of benefits to the cloud users where they can pay as per their use. Even though they have benefits, they also face some problems like receiving computing resources, which is guaranteed on time. This time delay may affect the service time and the makespan. Thus, to reduce such problems, it is necessary to schedule the resources and then allocate it to using an optimized hypervisor. Here, the proposed method is used to do the above-mentioned problem. First, the available resources are clustered with respect to their characteristics. Then the resources are scheduled using this method. Finally, with respect to that of the clients request the resources, the resources are allocated. Here, the cost is the fitness of the allocation.

Abstract:
The FLNG concept involves the use of a large, turret-moored floating facility that processes natural gas from local production fields and stores the products for export. The products are transferred through conventional hard arms located on side of the FLNG to tankers moored alongside. This concept requires an evaluation of the arrival and departure maneuvers of the large tankers servicing the FLNG. As this is a new concept on this scale, it is not possible to investigate this aspect in prototype. It is however possible to carry out the evaluation with the aid of computer simulations. Important aspects to incorporate in the simulations are the hydrodynamic and aerodynamic interactions between the different bodies (FLNG, tankers and tugs) and the effect of these continuously changing interactions on the actions of the ship’s pilot. The paper presents a case study in which real-time maneuvering simulations were carried out with the multi-body version of Alkyon’s simulation model SHIP-NAVIGATOR. Experienced and active pilots ran the maneuvers. Wind, waves and currents influence both the FLNG and the tankers. Furthermore, the presence of each of these facilities can influence environmental conditions experienced by the other. The paper discusses the importance of modeling these influences properly assess the feasibility of the marine operations.

Abstract:
In this paper, we consider a company including both a forward supply chain producing and supplying products to markets and an after-sales supply chain providing spare parts to fulfill after-sales commitments. Uncertainties in estimating product demand in the pre-markets, spare parts demands in the after-sales markets and qualified outputs of production facilities throughout these two chains are considered in this problem. Stochastic qualified output of production facilities are due to their imperfect productions systems. We show that uncertainties propagate and qualified flow depreciates by moving material, components and products from the upstream to the downstream of these supply chains and these phenomena should be quantified to determine the service levels of this company in the pre and after-sales markets. Reliable flows preserve chains’ service levels against uncertainties and their propagated effects. The consideration of the interactions of pre- and after-sales operations as concurrent planning of these two chains and considering both demand and supply side uncertainties and their propagated effects are the important contributions of this paper. Here, we propose a mathematical model for determining the best marketing strategies for this company (price, warranty length and service levels) and preserving reliable flow dynamics throughout the chains’ networks. The proposed model and its solution approach are tested using data from an engine production company. We derive some managerial insight by analyzing the correlations among the marketing strategies and how they affect each other.
