Hoang, Danh tai. "Phase transition and Spin transport in Complex Systems : Frustrated spin systems, Molecular and Liquid Crystals." Thesis, Cergy-Pontoise, 2012. http://www.theses.fr/2012CERG0621/document.
Full textIn this thesis, we have used Monte Carlo simulations combined with different efficient techniques such as histogram methods to study the phase transitions and spin transport in various systems. The first part is devoted to the investigation of phase transition in frustrated spin systems: (i) the J_1-J_2 model with Ising spin in the full antiferromagnetic regime, (ii) the HCP lattice with both Ising and XY spin in the full antiferromagnetic regime. The results obtained show indeed a first-order transition as found earlier in other frustrated systems. The second part shows the ground state and phase transitions in molecular crystals and in dimer liquids. To deal with these systems, we have used the Potts model taking into the account the dipolar interaction to explain long-period layered structures experimentally observed. The results show amazing effects of this long-range interaction. The effect of surface exchange interaction has been considered in this work. Finally, we describe the resistivity of itinerant spins. We focused in particular on the effects of spin fluctuations in the phase transition region. Interesting results have been obtained showing a strong correlation between spin fluctuations and the behavior of the resistivity

Full textHeterogeneous Systems are complex and become very critical. These systems integrate software andhardware components with intensive interaction between them. In this context, there is a strongnecessity to develop methodologies and techniques to specify and validate these systems. In engineering, the requirements are the expression of needs on what a particular product or a serviceshould be or to make. They are used most of the time in a formal sense in the systems engineering. In this kind of systems, several types of requirements are present: non-functional requirements suchas the performance and the reliability and functional requirements such as the liveliness. To validatethese requirements of a system, an environment to simulate and to check the properties is essential. In our work, we propose a methodology based on SysML combined with SystemC and Promela/SPINto specify and validate complex systems. This approach is based on Model Driven Engineeringtechniques to irstly translate SysML models to systemC with the aim of simulation and to mapSysML behavioral diagrams to Promela/SPIN in order to verify temporal properties extracted fromthe requirements. The approach is experimented on case studies to demonstrate its feasibility

Full textThe spin-crossover complexes exhibit a phenomenon of molecular bistability between two spin states (low-spin and high-spin states) energetically very close. They are of great interest for many potential applications in the fields of electronics and optics. The methods based on density functional theory (DFT) have proved to be efficient in the calculation of molecular structures, the calculation of vibrational frequencies modes, frequency shifts due to isotopic substitutions and the ability to assign all vibrational modes, the calculation of thermodynamic properties. . . As presented by our studies on the [Fe(phen)2(NCS)2], Fe[5-NO2-sal-N(1,4,7,10)], [Fe(L)(CN)2]. H2O, [Fe(TRIM)2]2+, [Fe(bpp)2]2+ and [Fe(PM-BiA)2(NCS)2] spin crossover complexes. Furthermore, our DFT calculations results demonstrate their potential in specific structural properties prediction for large size complexes such as the existence of conformers for the Fe[5-NO2-sal-N(1,4,7,10)] complex or the existence of a coordination number (6 - 7) change with the spin states change for the [Fe(L)(CN)2]. H2O complex, confirming suggestions or experimental results. Finally, we determined the microscopic electrical properties using DFT methods with the calculations of polarizability tensors. These calculations allowed us to identify and confirm the microscopic origin of the measured dielectric properties accompanying the spin transition, and understand the atypical behaviour of the dielectric permittivity thermal variation of some spin-crossover compounds

Full textMarmois, Emilie. "Étude photophysique de nouveaux systèmes moléculaires fonctionnels basés sur les styrylpyridines." Thesis, Bordeaux 1, 2008. http://www.theses.fr/2008BOR13642/document.
Full textThis Ph.D. work mainly deals with the study of fundamental photophysical processes of new styrylpyridine-type organic compounds showing charge transfer, realised using picosecond fluorescence and femtosecond transient absorption. We were interested first in the excited-state behaviour of two new hemicyanines. Methylated dimethoxystyrylpyridines molecules showed the establishment of an equilibrium between syn and anti conformations which is different in the excited state compared to the ground state, represented by a fast relaxation time of fluorescence. The second time constant corresponds to depopulation of the the excited state by non-radiative pathways as isomerization and donor twist (« loose-bolt »). Concerning styrylpyridinium derivative where phenyl group was replaced by dimethylaminothiophene, our studies proved involvment of rotation of methylpyridinium group and intersystem crossing as relaxation pathways. Secondly, we were interested in complexation properties of ether-crown susbstituted styrylpyridine molecule. Our studies showed the presence of two complexation centers (one in the center of the crown, the other one on the nitrogen of pyridine) having a different selectivity for metallic cations. Stoichiometries were confirmed by analysis of the reorientation times of formed complexes. After the study of our different compounds as elementary « building–blocks » for more complex supramolecular systems, we were interested in their potential applications with the study of systems for collection and energy transfer. First, we highlighted the existence of an ultra fast (180 fs to 6 ps) and ultra efficient (>99.7%) intramolecular energy transfer in bichromophoric systems containing two ether-crowned styrylpyridines and dissymetrised by binding of a Mg2+ cation in only one crown. It occurs from the complexed part to the non-complexed one by coulombic interaction. Another envisaged application can be the construction of complexes containing transition metals for energy or information storage. We studied first the building of a supramolecular system based on phenanthroline and containing four free ether-crowns We also proved that there exists an equilibrium between singlet and triplet excited states in these compounds complexed with Copper(I) or Silver(I). Secondly, we studied formation of complexes binding two ether-crown substituted bipyridines to a Fe2+ ion. Such a complex has got some spin crossover properties. Then, we showed that the addition of Ba2+ ions induce formation of transition metals complexes with nanometric size
