Abstract:
Abstract The dialects of Ewen vary widely with respect to the forms and uses of reflexive, reciprocal, and intensifier pronouns derived from the stems meːn and bej. This paper establishes nine isoglosses based on the features of these pronominal forms and plots them on the dialectal map of Ewen. In a second step, comparative evidence from other Tungusic and some contact languages of Ewen is adduced in order to shed light on the diachronic developments underlying the current dialectal distrubtion of the forms in question. As a result, a number of tentative historical scenarios for the developments of reflexives and intensifiers both in Ewen and in Tungusic in general are suggested.

Abstract:
The question of replacement in the synonymic pair last — latest is considered. Attention is paid to the characteristics of speech stereotypes and types of frames that form substitution in a synonymic pair. The results of a comparative analysis of the heuristics of linguo-creative thinking with the level of speech culture of communicants using catachresis in this pair are presented. The study of replacements in ontological coverage is carried out, taking into account the lexicosemantic, cognitive, generistic, extralinguistic, linguocultural and orthological aspects. The variety of functions of the studied synonymic pair in various types of discourse is described. The relevance of the study is due to the ongoing linguistic fashion to replace the lexeme last with the word latest. The authors dwell on the study of memes related to synonymous replacement, identifying their functions and features. It is shown that when the function of artistic figurative concretization of the depicted is actualized, a mimetic character is manifested in the application of this substitution. The parameters of social reality, which caused the replacements in the synonymous pair of the language fashion of the “first and second wave” are determined. A characteristic of the pragmatic meanings of reflexives in newspaper discourse is proposed in relation to the functions they perform. It is shown that the substitute latest becomes a reflexoid.

Abstract:
Present-day Mauritian Creole has a complex reflexive system with the typologically interesting property that plain pronouns are unmarked for reflexivity [uR]. Corne (1988) describes this system, and argues that the [uR] pronouns developed late, as a result of French influence after the creole had jelled. We propose instead that the [uR] use of the pronouns developed during pidginization to fill a functional gap when the French clitics were lost. Early attestations of [uR] pronouns in Mauritian and comparative evidence from Seychelles Creole converge to support an early development of [uR] pronouns. Our proposal that the early development took place during pidginization is indirectly supported by cross-linguistic evidence: [uR] pronouns appear to be common in pidgins and Creoles, but rare elsewhere, suggesting that [uR] pronouns are one characteristic result of the pidginization process.

Abstract:
The features of the development of communicative and reflexive abilities of children aged 6—10 years, depending on the ways of organizing educational interactions, are discussed. Basic social competencies defined by the requirements of the current Federal State Educational Standard of Primary General Education are considered as indicators of the development of abilities in the learning environment. Based on the selected indicators, a variant of the “Puzzle” diagnostic method has been developed, which allows to study the relationship between the development of social competencies in younger schoolchildren, and the joint way they perform while solving experimental problems. A comparative analysis of students' social competencies allows to prove the influence of ways of organizing educational interactions on the development of communicative and reflexive abilities of primary school children.

Abstract:
In recent years, fears of technological unemployment have (re-)emerged strongly in public discourse. In response, policymakers and researchers have tried to gain a more nuanced understanding of the future of work in an age of automation. In these debates, it has become common practice to signal expertise on automation by referencing a plethora of studies, rather than limiting oneself to the careful discussion of a small number of selected papers whose epistemic limitations one might actually be able to grasp comprehensively. This paper addresses this shortcoming. I will first give a very general introduction to the state of the art of research on potentials for automation, using the German case as an example. I will then provide an in-depth analysis of two studies of the field that exemplify two competing approaches to the question of automatability: studies that limit themselves to discussing technological potentials for automation on the one hand, and macroeconomic scenario methods that claim to provide more concrete assessments of the connection between job losses (or job creation) and technological innovation in the future on the other. Finally, I will provide insight into the epistemic limitations and the specific vices and virtues of these two approaches from the perspective of critical social theory, thereby contributing to a more enlightened and reflexive debate on the future of automation.

Abstract:
We examine a class of English reflexive pronouns that we call middle-distance reflexives. We show that while not occurring in direct argument positions, middle-distance reflexives can either be syntactically bound or be interpreted according to pragmatic and discourse conditions, suggesting that syntactic reflexives in American English extend beyond direct argument positions. We will also discuss uses of reflexives in British English and Chinese in comparison with those in American English. While these languages demonstrate variations in the distribution of syntactic reflexives and discourse reflexives, the relevant facts indicate that syntactic binding in natural languages may not necessarily be obligatory, and the licensing condition for syntactic reflexives and discourse reflexives is not exclusively disjunctive. Allowing the options of both syntactic binding and discourse coreference for establishing the relation between reflexives and their antecedents is a more general aspect of reflexives, which is consistent with the view proposed in Pollard & Xue 2001.

Abstract:
After controlling for phonologically conditioned homophony, it is shown that Turkish has two distinct suffixes marking verbal reflexives that have distinct syntactico-semantic properties: -Il is syncretic with the passive and anticausative, and derives intransitive figure reflexives (Wood 2014); -In is not syncretic with the passive and anticausative, and derives ground reflexives, some of which have transitive uses. Goal phrases are compatible with some ground reflexives, as the reduced argument is not the location as a whole, but the DP at the bottom of an articulated locational structure (Svenonius 2006, 2008).

Abstract:
The article is devoted to reflexives in the lexico-grammatical system of the language and artistic discourse in the linguocultural contrastive aspect. The problem of establishing the lexico-grammatical nature of reflexives remains relevant in modern linguistics, since the language system in different linguistic cultures lives according to its linguistic laws. The novelty of the study lies in determining the fact that the level status of reflexives is various in different languages. It has been established that the lexical and grammatical categories of reflexive pronouns are contradictory and unstable, presented not only in different languages, but also in grammatical studies of different authors within the same language. In some studies, the reflexive forms a category consisting of one unit, in others – several units and in some studies, they are considered as personal pronouns. In some languages, the reflexive of verbs is described along with active and passive forms as a grammeme of the grammatical category of voice, in others they have a double-level status. As a result of structural, lexico-grammatical analysis, comparative analysis, interpretative analysis of the actual material (artistic discourse), subject-predicate-object relations in verbs defined as reflexive were revealed. The perspective is the consideration of the discursive nature of reflexives in various types of discourse in different linguistic cultures.

Abstract:
Objectives The purposes of this study were to investigate the perception patterns of Korean and Chinese Advanced learners about the compound reflexive ‘자기 자신’ and ‘자기 스스로’. Methods Considering the limitations of simple recursive events, a questionnaire was created and then a survey was conducted to investigate the perception patterns of complex recursive events. A study was conducted on the perception patterns of complex reflexive ‘자기 자신’ and ‘자기 스스로’ among 20 Korean native speakers and 20 advanced Chinese learners attending S University in Seoul. Based on the results of the survey, Korean native speakers and The Chinese advanced learners identified the perception patterns of the compound reflexive ‘자기 자신’ and ‘자기 스스로’. Results According to the results of the analysis, Korean native speakers have the same perception of the compound reflexive ‘자기 자신’ and ‘자기 스스로’, however Advanced Chinese learners have a confused perception. In addition, Chinese advanced leaners showed a tendency to recognize Korean complex reflexive words by connecting them to their mother tongue under the influence of their mother tongue. Lastly, it can be seen that it is difficult for Advanced Chinese learners to use the compound reflexive ‘자기 자신’ and ‘자기 스스로’ to distinguish them. Conclusions Through the survey conducted on Korean native speakers and Advanced Chinese leaners, we lookde at what kind of perception each had. In the future, it is necessary to prepare an educational plan for Chinese learners by conducting a comparative study on compound recursive history.

Abstract:
The effectiveness of management personnel, their ability to professional communication at the level of self-organization, their analytical and predictive abilities are determined by culturally organized self-reflection which promotes the realization and development of the innovative potential of the individual. The aim of the research is to theoretically substantiate reflexive self-organization in managerial activities, to develop and implement a professional module on the reflexive thinking of management personnel, and to identify effective methods for the development of professional reflection. The general scientific (analysis, synthesis, generalization, formalization and language schematization) and specific-scientific (observation, comparative analysis, questionnaires, tests) methods were used. They allowed obtaining an integral picture of the influence of reflection on the success of professional and social activity and creating conditions for the further development of reflection, personal qualities and the formation of an emotional and value-related attitude towards the activity. The article defines the essential features and functions of reflection, reveals the content of the reflexive method, establishes the links between the elements of reflection (analysis, criticism, standardization) and traditional types of managerial activity: goal-setting, support, correction and control of activity, and describes levels of reflexive thinking in managerial activities. The theoretical substantiation of the problem of reflexive self-organization and its solution in the course of realization of the professional module in undergraduates of the field ‘State and municipal management’ is presented in the paper. Practical significance lies in creating a professional module aimed at developing reflection and implemented in the form of organizational and activity game, as well as diagnostic techniques for measuring the level of reflection.

Abstract:
ABSTRACTThis study examined how adult L2 learners make use of grammatical and extragrammatical information to interpret reflexives and pronouns. Forty adult English native speakers and 32 intermediate–advanced Korean L2 learners participated in a visual world paradigm eye-tracking experiment. We investigated the interpretation of reflexives (himself) and pronouns (him) in contexts where there is a potential coargument antecedent and in the context of picture noun phrases (a picture of him/himself), where the distribution of reflexives and pronouns can overlap. The results indicated that the learners interpreted reflexives in a nativelike fashion in both contexts, whereas they interpreted pronouns differently from native speakers, even when learners had advanced English proficiency. Adopting the binding theory as developed in the reflexivity/primitives of binding framework (Reinhart & Reuland, 1993; Reuland, 2001, 2011), we interpret these results to mean that while adult L2 learners are able to apply syntactic binding principles to assign an interpretation to anaphoric expressions, they have difficulty in integrating syntactic information with contextual and discourse information.

Abstract:
New challenges for the education system have appeared due to the COVID-19 pandemic that’s why it is crucial to improve teachers’ training. There are instances that prevent the entire manifestation of the character, his/her self-achievement, self-expression and self-agency. Such instances are barriers that accompany the educational procedure. The aim of the research is to give theoretical substantiation and offer the pedagogical technology, which provides future teachers’ training to application of cognitive barriers in their professional activities in terms of the pandemic caused by Covid-19. The main hypothesis of the research is the idea that specially organized future teachers’ training focusing on the formation of their competence in application of cognitive barriers is the basis of their successful professional activities. The research methodology is built on the dialectical unity of such methods: comparative historical method, genetic method, competence-based method, systemic method, synergetic method. The proposed technology is built on the general didactic and specific principles and is accomplished via motivational, procedural, stage of obtaining of experience, analytical and reflexive stages involving appropriate strategies and tactics. It provides the result in formation of future teachers’ competence in application of cognitive barriers in professional activities.

Abstract:
The article seeks to explore the discourse and linguistic means through which the Introduction section of Research Medical Articles (RMA) achieve their goals. For that purpose, we have analyzed 207 original RMA in Bulgarian and 129 in English. The articles have been excerpted from prestigious Bulgarian and high-ranking impact factor English language journals. Four major rhetorical moves have been found to guide the discourse flow in the Introduction sections in both corpora – Bulgarian Corps (BC) and English-language Corps (EC). These are: Move 1 - Introducing the general topic; Move 2: Move 2 – Transition to specific topic; Move 3: Move 3 – Identifying a gap and Move 4 – Aim of research. In connection with the realization of the rhetorical objectives of the Introduction section, basic lexical means have been identified and presented. We used the concept metaterm introduced by Mavrodieva and Tisheva (Mavrodieva and Tisheva 2014). We divided the metaterms into general and specific. It has been proven that a certain type of polysemous nouns are of particular importance in the medical context and can therefore be considered as specific metaterms. In both corpora, a number of variable and unchangeable parts of speech have been discovered that are typical of the RMA. Essential to the cohesion and coherence of texts are the so-called high-frequency words: nouns, verbs, adjectives, prepositions, adverbs, collocations and colligations. Regarding Tense and Voice, it has been pointed out that in line with the tradition of the Bulgarian scientific discourse community, the main tense is the so-called Generalized Present Tense (Uslozhneno segashno vreme), whereas in the English-language Corps these are Present Simple and Present Perfect. As for Voice, the BC articles make use mostly of Active Voice, while Passive Voice is used to refer to problems in focus and with impersonal constructions. A peculiar feature of scientific texts in Bulgarian is the use of reflexive verbs with the particle se. The specificity of the sentence structure in the Introduction includes the so-called in Bulgarian linguistics “complicated simple sentences”, including many pre and post modifiers, heavy complementation, as well as compound and complex sentences. Some of the most important discursive elements of this section of RMA are also analyzed. The comparison is direct between the two corpora, and the elements under scrutiny cover such aspects of discourse as hedging and, discourse markers (DM). With regard to the first element, hedging, from a theoretical point of view, it is important to emphasize that hedge structures are a form of the author's Ethos and identity, its degree of presence in the text. We have noted the role of DM as linking devices in the text, marking the boundaries of Steps and Moves in the RMA and indicating a change in the information flow and in the authors’ stance.

Abstract:
The article attempts to test the hypothesis of whether the transformation of European values into the social policies of the post-socialist states of Ukraine and Romania contributes to the strengthening of the reflective spirituality, humanity and democracy of their nations. There have been used the following methods: general scientific, historical, retrospective and comparative. The authors have analyzed the problem of inclusive education in Romania and Ukraine in two directions: as a sign of spirituality, religiosity of Ukrainians and Romanians; and as the expressed humanity of the democratic society of Ukraine and Romania. The analysis of the reflexive spirituality of Ukrainians and Romanians is carried out on the basis of philosophical understanding of spirituality and its connection with humanity, which are presented in theoretical researches of the end of the XIX - the beginning of the XXI century. The authors explained that inclusive education is a manifestation of society's humanity towards persons with disabilities, a means of reflexive and spiritual culture of Ukrainians and Romanians. The basic democratic values established in Ukraine and Romania are freedom, openness, tolerance. The space covered by inclusive education in both countries is determined by interdependent and interpenetrating processes of humanization and democratization. The humanistic approach is the basis for the functioning of a democratic society with its system of social ties, archaic values of spirituality, religion, and culture. The values and principles declared by inclusive education are recommended and follow from the content of international documents. The approval of a number of regulatory documents on the introduction of inclusive education indicates that the Ukrainian and Romanian social policies have reached the level of norms declared by international and European legal norms. It has been found out, that the transformation of European values in both countries takes place on the basis of the international human rights instruments. This circumstance has intensified the actualization of the development of inclusion and the manifestation of reflexive spirituality, humanity and democracy.

We instead conceptualize the evaluation of biographical evidence as a generative interplay between an historically grown, administrative infrastructure (the CV), and a situated evaluative practice in which the representational function of that infrastructure is itself interpreted and established. The use of CVs in peer review can be seen as a doubly comparative practice, where referees compare not only applicants (among each other or to an imagined ideal of excellence), but also their own experience-based understanding of practice and the conceptual assumptions that underpin CV categories. Empirically, we add to existing literature on peer review by drawing attention to self-correcting mechanisms in the reproduction of the scientific workforce. Conceptually, we distinguish three modalities of how the doubly comparative use of CVs can shape the assessment of applicants: calibration, branching out, and repair. The outcome of this reflexive work should not be seen as predetermined by situational pressures. In fact, bibliographic categories such as authorship of publications or performance metrics may themselves come to be problematized and reshaped in the process.

Abstract:
We study best approximations to compact operators between Banach spaces and Hilbert spaces, from the point of view of Birkhoff-James orthogonality and semi-inner-products. As an application of the present study, some distance formulae are presented in the space of compact operators. The special case of bounded linear functionals as compact operators is treated separately and some applications to best approximations in reflexive, strictly convex and smooth Banach spaces are discussed. An explicit example is presented in ℓ p n \ell _p^{n} spaces, where 1 > p > ∞ , 1 > p > \infty , to illustrate the applicability of the methods developed in this article. A comparative analysis of the results presented in this article with the well-known classical duality principle in approximation theory is conducted to demonstrate the advantage in the former case, from a computational point of view.

The hypothesis of the study is that the norm is not a special way of regulating behavior, but is the main form of human existence. The ontological nature of the norm outside the semantic aspect of its individual manifestations is revealed. For this purpose, the basis of the analysis is determined by the Decalogue, where for the first time an attempt was made to consolidate the “pure” norm. It is shown that the norm is born in the dialectic of pro- hibition and obligation in the reflexive processes of actions of a social subject. An attempt is made to comprehensively analyze the normativity of social existence.

Abstract:
Research-practice partnerships (RPPs) offer promising approaches to improve educational outcomes. Navigating boundaries between contexts is essential for RPP effectiveness, yet much work remains to establish a conceptual framework of boundary spanning in partnerships. Our longitudinal comparative case study draws from our experiences as graduate student boundary spanners in three long-term partnerships to examine boundary spanning roles in RPPs, with particular attention to the ways in which power permeates partnership work. Using qualitative, critically reflexive analysis of meeting artifacts and field notes, we found that our boundary spanning roles varied along five spectrums: institutional focus, task orientation, expertise, partnership disposition, and agency. Our roles were shaped by the organizational, cultural, relational, and historical features of the partnerships and contexts of interaction. We aim to promote the development of effective RPP strategies by leveraging the perspectives and positionality of graduate students in order to advance understanding of boundary spanning roles.

Based on anarchist methodology, the essay analyzes the historical and social meanings of the social practice of psychological and pedagogical counseling in overcoming educational difficulties. The text provides a brief explanation of the concept of delusional work in the works of anthropologist D. Graeber, a comparative analysis of the functional significance of psychological and pedagogical counseling as a social practice and crazy work as a specific type of work activity. The theoretical and methodological comparison is accompanied by a reflexive analysis of the author’s own experience in the field of psychological and pedagogical counseling. The author offers a description of the social meaning of counseling in overcoming educational difficulties as a provision for a gradual revolution in pedagogical systems through a revolution in worldview, substantiates the need and prospects for such a view. The essay suggests potential problem epicenters for the development and spread of psychological and pedagogical counseling in educational activities, visible from an anarchist methodological perspective.

ABSTRACTWe report the results from two eye-movement monitoring experiments examining the processing of reflexive pronouns by proficient German-speaking learners of second language (L2) English. Our results show that the nonnative speakers initially tried to link English argument reflexives to a discourse-prominent but structurally inaccessible antecedent, thereby violating binding condition A. Our native speaker controls, in contrast, showed evidence of applying condition A immediately during processing. Together, our findings show that L2 learners’ initial focusing on a structurally inaccessible antecedent cannot be due to first language influence and is also independent of whether the inaccessible antecedent c-commands the reflexive. This suggests that unlike native speakers, nonnative speakers of English initially attempt to interpret reflexives through discourse-based coreference assignment rather than syntactic binding.

Abstract:
Being interdisciplinary, reflexive and analytical, theory has practical effects, questioning assumptions such as those related to discourse, meaning or identity, and exploring the circumstances in which texts are produced. It offers new conceptual tools and provides an argumentative method. Fields such as imagology have benefitted from the outset from the variety of theories reflecting the intellectual progress of their times, in particular in connection with the study of the relationship between Self and Other, thus providing new perspectives on the uses of preconceived ideas in artistic, written and visual, representations. In view of the current context of migratory flows and societal upheavals, it seems topical to examine the theories feeding the field of imagology today. Traditionally, history, psychology and sociology have proved instrumental in the building of essential notions pertaining to the sphere. More recently, studies have drawn on new approaches connected to reception, translation, gender and education studies, widening the imagological scope and its range of methodological tools. This article examines the nature of the imagological undertaking, its current spread worldwide, and shows how this comparative literary field upholds a cosmopolitan ethos.

Abstract. The aim of this study is to describe and confirm the Olympic ideas included in the Citius, Altius, Fortius review, and to clarify the degree of ascription and/or criticism of this publishing, in comparison with the prevailing sports models and Olympic tendencies of the time. Also, to analyze the relevance of these conceptions and their projection regarding the current state of this matter. The methodology is mainly qualitative, descriptive, and comparative. We used the critical discourse analysis in order to deduce the underlying ideology and to interpret the content. As a starting point, we have reviewed and adapted a previous paper of document indexing and classification of the journal thematic. In Citius, Altius, Fortius we observe a concern about the Olympics situation, and about its emerging issues. In general, a marked idealist conception of Olympic Movement is predominant, as well as its principles and educational possibilities. Some of the authors deal with defining and claiming the Olympics primal idea, while others are concerned about the crisis lived in relation with the Olympics and its future survival. This reflexive and even critic view agrees with some ‒few‒ current contributions that deal with the threats of modern sport and Olympism, the transformation of values and the demystification of the Olympic idea (pos-Olympism).

Abstract:
My contribution explores the potential of Standard Average European (SAE) as a methodological yardstick for the assessment of the Celticity of Standard English (SE), i.e. the degree to which SE may have been influenced by Insular Celtic languages. SAE allows a quantification of the extent to which SE differs from other SAE languages and at the same time shows similarities with Insular Celtic languages which are generally thought to deviate from SAE. The concept of SAE will be introduced and a complex test case will be analyzed: the rise of identical reflexives and intensifiers and the frequency of ‘labile’ verbs, e.g. to break both intransitive and transitive, in English. Reflexives and intensifiers are identical in Insular Celtic, but separate categories in SAE. According to Haspelmath (1993), labile verbs are unusually frequent in English by SAE standards, and they are also very frequent in Insular Celtic. It will be shown that the frequency of labile verbs in SE and Insular Celtic results from the identity of reflexives and intensifiers in these languages. Since the frequency of labile verbs thus can be shown to be a typologically secondary phenomenon, it is the rise of the new system of identical reflexives and intensifiers in SE which is methodologically the relevant linguistic subsystem within the complex test case for which Insular Celtic influence can be proposed and which can be adduced as an argument in favor of the Celtic hypothesis. For the assessment of the Celtic hypothesis, it will therefore be rewarding to complement the initial comparison of SE and Insular Celtic with further data from SAE and general typology whenever the linguistic subsystems under scrutiny allows the inclusion of such data.

Abstract:
Cross-linguistically unusual though it is for active clauses with reflexive pronouns as objects to be passivizable, German does permit such passives. Passives with reflexives, widely neglected in German grammar, are examined against the backdrop of purportedly general constraints on the control of reflexive pronouns and on relational interchanges in passivization. As to control, reflexive pronouns in passives appear to be under split control, with semantic and morphosyntactic controllers (active subjects and passive dummy subjects, respectively) not coinciding. As to relational interchanges, passives with reflexive pronouns are prone to lack exemplary subjects despite the presence of potentially subjectivizable objects in corresponding active constructions, with case marking and verb-agreement not necessarily operating in tandem.

The purpose of the article is to justify theoretically the scientific and pedagogical prerequisites for the development of foreign-language education in the context of the training of future physical education teachers. Historical analysis testified that the methodological principles of the problem of foreign-language education of future teachers of humanitarian specialties were formed during the study period under the influence of large-scale integration and socio-cultural processes and based on such approaches: personally oriented; communicative; communicative-active; cognitive; sociocultural approach; competent, culturological/axiological, level, productive; lingo-country studies approach; lingo- cultural approach; ethnographic approach; multifunctional approach; intercultural approach; reflexive approach; vocational approach in foreign language education; productive approach. The methodological basis of the language training of students is a personally oriented and communicative approach, which allows you to discover the personal significance in the educational material and practically master it in the conditions of the problematic communicative situations. These approaches are implemented in the complex methods of culture-centric and problem-oriented study, and also in media-communicative and consciously comparative methods.

Abstract:
On the basis of binding facts, I argue that Serbo-Croatian (SC) does not project DP and that DP is not a universal property of language. I show that a number of binding contrasts between English and SC follow straightforwardly from independently motivated differences in their nominal structure, most notably from the assumption that DP is present only in English. I also discuss in detail the potential significance of this puzzling set of facts for the binding theory in general. Specifically, I propose that SC employs Condition C as defined in Lasnik 1989 and, in addition to the core binding conditions, a competitive mechanism adopted from Safir 2004 , which regulates the distribution of reflexives, pronouns, and R-expressions. I also argue that the binding domains for pronouns and reflexives in SC need to be formulated differently.

Abstract:
Climate change policy requires prioritization of adaptation actions across many diverse issues. The policy agenda for the natural environment includes not only biodiversity, soils and water, but also associated human benefits through agriculture, forestry, water resources, hazard alleviation, climate regulation and amenity value. To address this broad agenda, the use of comparative risk assessment is investigated with reference to statutory requirements of the UK Climate Change Risk Assessment. Risk prioritization was defined by current adaptation progress relative to risk magnitude and implementation lead times. Use of an ecosystem approach provided insights into risk interactions, but challenges remain in quantifying ecosystem services. For all risks, indirect effects and potential systemic risks were identified from land-use change, responding to both climate and socio-economic drivers, and causing increased competition for land and water resources. Adaptation strategies enhancing natural ecosystem resilience can buffer risks and sustain ecosystem services but require improved cross-sectoral coordination and recognition of dynamic change. To facilitate this, risk assessments need to be reflexive and explicitly assess decision outcomes contingent on their riskiness and adaptability, including required levels of human intervention, influence of uncertainty and ethical dimensions. More national-scale information is also required on adaptation occurring in practice and its efficacy in moderating risks. This article is part of the theme issue ‘Advances in risk assessment for climate change adaptation policy’.

Abstract:
Dutch children interpret reflexives correctly from age 4 on, but frequently misinterpret object pronouns as coreferring with the local subject until age 6. We investigated whether this so-called Delay of Principle B Effect (DPBE) differs by verb type. We tested 47 children between 4 and 6 years old with regular transitive verbs (e.g., to hit) and grooming verbs (e.g., to wash), verbs that often refer to self-directed actions. In general, children displaying the DPBE performed equally well on both verb types. In contrast, children who performed poorly on pronouns and reflexives made significantly more errors interpreting pronouns with grooming verbs than with transitive verbs. This suggests that young children are aware of the tendency for certain events to be self-directed. However, our results show they only apply this information when interpreting pronouns but not reflectives, indicating that they also use their grammatical knowledge.

Abstract:
The article describes the structure of the parameters of the evaluation of the educational result and the methodology of applying the model of the learning profile of the personality “Diamond of Personality” in organizations of general and additional education of children. The model is designed considering the balance of complexity and productivity of the measuring instrument. The relevance of the article is due to the new challenges facing the education system in the form of parameters of the national project “Education”, where it is necessary to develop individual learning technologies, identify and develop gifted children, and enter the top 10 world leaders in comparative indicators. In the world today, emphasis is placed on competence-type tasks that require an active approach. There are already many tools for the formation and development of active learning behavior, but not all of them work well. The authors propose a convergent model for the formation of an learning profile that claims to be effective for solving these tasks. The purpose of the research described in the article is to develop a model of the learning profile of a person for managing learning activities and developing personal potential, suitable for supporting learning subjectivity. The novelty of the model is determined by its structure (based on a combination of formal and informal (reflexive) assessment parameters) and the methodology of application, ensuring the balance of “complexity-usefulness of the tool”, as well as the focus on the development of learning activity (subjectivity, agency). Atypical are the use of qualitative assessments of the educational result for formal evaluation, as well as the evaluation process itself based on specially described (tagged) educational tasks (instead of evaluating “for compliance with the sample”). At the same time, the model can be applied simultaneously with traditional assessment systems and does not contradict them. The practical significance of the “Diamond of Personality” model lies in of additional tools for assessing the educational result, which appear because of processing formal assessments of the proposed model. In the informal part, the traditionally difficult task of organizing reflection is facilitated by the presence of a supporting structure. The effectiveness and productivity of the model is currently being tested by the participants of the pilot project. The model is assumed to be the basis of a digital learning profile of a mixed type — formal-reflexive.

Abstract:
This article interrogates the notion of state capitalism, exploring the contributions and limits of the concept as a means of theorizing the more visible role of the state across the world capitalist economy. We critically synthesize the key arguments, outlining commonly cited properties and practices of state capitalism, in three bodies of literature: strategic management, comparative capitalism and global political economy. We find that the term not only lacks a unified definition, but actually refers to an extremely wide array of policy instruments, strategic objectives, institutional forms and networks, that involve the state to different degrees. For this proliferation of competing usages to be productive and not lead to analytical impasses, we argue that there is a need for a heightened level of reflexive scrutiny of state capitalism as a category of analysis. In that spirit, we identify three issues that the literature must further grapple with for the term to be analytically meaningful, that is, capable of rendering (state)capitalist diversity amenable to analysis and critique: (1) the ‘missing link’ of a theory of the capitalist state, (2) the time horizons of state capitalism, or the question of ‘periodization’, (3) territorial considerations or the question of ‘locating’ state capitalism.

Abstract:
The reading practices of women, mediated by a prison library in Portugal, constituted an interesting case study. In Santa Cruz do Bispo prison, female prisoners were increasingly aged and excluded from social groups, less literate, and educated. Many were first-time library users and some were beginning readers. This research aimed to understand their reading practices and preferences, their self-assigned meanings, and the roles of reading in prison. Having become aware that industrial literature romance novels were the most requested items, a critical comparative analysis of the three most requested titles was contrasted with readers’ favorite passages to foster a deeper understanding of their preferences and sustain an integrated analysis. Furthermore, a consensualized definition of a “good read” is presented. The results from ethnography and interviews to readers and staff are analyzed taking into account class, gender, ethnicity, age, occupation, and education of the detainees. Conclusions address the fact that although the prison’s educational service and imprisonment conditions propitiated an increase in reading generally, the library was oriented by educational targets and irresponsive to certain demands expressed by readers. Secondly, women readers were using the available top-selling romance novels to sustain their introspective and prospective work, while reckoning with their past and planning for their future. In addition to this reflexive stance, escapist entertainment and knowledge building were important reading purposes.

Abstract:
Topicality of the article is determined by the growing demand of the modern society for evaluating the readiness of the educators to put inclusion in teaching process into practice in accordance with the educational and occupational standards. Significant trends in the skills enhancement of those educators who can turn out to be in demand in the process of developing continuous professional training of teachers of general educational institution are analysed. The comparative research on the degree of maturity of special educational skills possessed by educators of different specialties – teachers, education psychologists, logopedic teachers, special educators – based on the diagnostic study on metadisciplinary pedagogic skills, has been presented for the first time. The expanded description of individual indicators of the competence and the level of its mastering by different experts is given. The significant positive characteristics of the personal and professional attitude of pedagogues, which are related to the high level of conative willingness to work actively with children with limited health capacities in terms of inclusive environment and to the gathered experience of the psychological and pedagogic interaction within the context of existing organisational structures of the educational institutions. Typical professional shortages stemming from insufficient level of mastering of special technologies, methods and tools of developing of special educational environment are defined. The reflexive self-evaluation of the professional activities in the context of inclusive educational practices has been done as well.

Abstract:
L'Atalante (1934), the second collaboration between experimental French filmmaker Jean Vigo and composer Maurice Jaubert, has become a staple in the cinephile canon. But its profound influence on postwar filmmakers could not have been anticipated at the time of its disastrous initial release. As Vigo lay on his deathbed, the film's producers, finding L'Atalante narratively incoherent, attempted to make it more broadly accessible, replacing parts of Jaubert's score with the popular song “Le chaland qui passe” and renaming the film after the hit tune. These changes subtly altered an important narrative subtext of the film—a reflexive fixation on the recent arrival of synchronized sound film, expressed through a focus on musical playback technologies (phonographs, radios, and music boxes) and their ability to captivate. In this article, through a comparative analysis of scenes from L'Atalante (which has subsequently been restored) and Le chaland qui passe (the only surviving copy of which is housed at the Cinémathèque Royale de Belgique), I show how the differences between the two versions reflect a general anxiety over the arrival of sound film in France. Vigo's fascination with mediated music and its ability to create a magical cinematic world, and the distributors' attempt to fit the film's music into a commercially successful paradigm, reflect contemporary concerns about the potential impact of mediated sound on French cinema. Through my analysis, I demonstrate how film practitioners grappled with technological changes, using music as a powerful interventional force.

Abstract:
The purpose of the article is to identify main components of the activities of pupils in reading novels at the lessons of World and English literature at secondary school; to propose such types of dialogism, which will facilitate pupils’ understanding of novels; to describe the results of our pilot study which was organized in September-December 2019 at secondary educational institution №15 in t. Rivne at the lesson of English literature with the aim to analyze the types of dialogism in the process of reading and understanding a novel by pupils. Methods and methodical instrumentation of the research. The following scientific methods were used: holistic analysis of the text, problem-thematic analysis, also comparative analysis (Bondarenko, 2016); the descriptive method, the method of distributive analysis, the method of syntactic transformation of text material (Voronkova, 2020). The results of the research. Taking into account the features of senior children, we have identified three main components of the activities of pupils in reading novels at the lessons of World and English literature at secondary school. These components are: (1). A cognitive component, that has in its structure: a) contexual reading; (b) interpretive reading; (c) semantic reading. (2). A communicative component. (3). Subjectly-oriented component. We proposed such types of dialogism: (1). Subordinated dialogism, which involves taking into account the personality of the author of the text (or its heroes), which in this case is the subject of the novel. (2). Coordinative dialogism, which, unlike subordinated one, is oriented not so much to the personal aspect as to the procedural nature of interaction in the broad meaning. 3. Personality-reflexive dialogism which is the most meaningful in terms of understanding of the partner in the process of quasi-communication. Conclusions. In general, senior pupils tend to focus on coordinative type of dialogism in the process of reading a novel, because, first of all, the procedural interaction between schoolchildren and the author of the novel is quite important for them. In order to actualize subordinate and personality-reflexive dialogism, in our opinion, senior pupils should be involved into the activity of translation of novels written in a foreign language (it is a translation from a foreign language into their native language).

Abstract:

Abstract:
The central claim of this paper is that reflexive anaphors and logophoric anaphors in Balinese share the same forms. It is shown that Balinese possesses simple and complex reflexives. Only complex reflexives participate in the logophoric environment. Importantly it is claimed that the logophoric use of the reflexive anaphor occurs in a clausal complement of the verbs of communication and other verbs denoting a general state of consciousness. The logophor can appear in the subject or object position of the embedded clause while the reflexive use of the anaphor is only limited to occurring in a single clause and is restricted to occupying the object position, either the object of a verb or the object of a preposition. The characteristic differences in the distribution between the two are reflected in a syntactic domain having to do with passivization in that logophoric constructions allow it while reflexive constructions completely ban it. In addition, logophoricity may characterize an operation where there is a mismatch in the agreement between the logophor and its targeted antecedent whereas in reflexivity there must be an agreement in the phi-features between the binder and the bindee.

KENNEDY, DAVID. "Here Is/Where There/Is: Some Observations of Spatial Deixis in Robert Creeley's Poetry." Journal of American Studies 46, no. 1 (April 8, 2011): 73–87. http://dx.doi.org/10.1017/s0021875811000053.

Abstract:
Multiple uses of the spatial deictic “here” are a notable feature of Robert Creeley's poetry. For example, the Collected Poems 1945–1975 contains five poems called “Here” and two called “Here Again,” and after only a hundred pages one has encountered at least eight uses of “here.” Similarly, Charles Altieri has noted a movement in Creeley's poetry from saying “there” to being able to say “here” as a statement of “an ideal of pure presence, of a relationship between subject and world where each is transparent to and completely adequate for the other.” In this essay, I will examine examples of Creeley's “heres” in the early poetry, up to and including Words (1967) and Pieces (1969). I will argue that while some of Creeley's uses of “here” do involve problems of location and ideal presence, other uses speak to problems of agency, form and the body. I will go on to argue that, ultimately, Creeley's “heres” map a search for location that discovers each new articulation is a disorientating reorientation. This reading of Creeley's use of “here” will be informed by a number of other sources including Jonathan Culler's pioneering work on deixis in Structuralist Poetics; J. P. Denny's comparative work on spatial adverbs in English, Eskimo and Kikuyu; Heidegger's discussion of “here” and “yonder”; and the paintings of Barnett Newman which are notable for their deictic titles. Reading these with and back into Creeley's poetry enables a greater understanding of how spatial deixis works in lyric poetry and how it relates to Creeley's reflexive lyric.
