Abstract:
In the article the author attempts to study the phenomenon of paradoxical inner contradiction of many texts (both scholarly and literary) written by Alexander Zinoviev – outstanding Russian thinker of the second half of the 20th and the beginning of the 21st century. Principal of paradoxical combination of incongruous statements, what could be seen as mere violation of the basic law of formal logic, seems rather astonishing even though A. Zinoviev himself was an outstanding and word-recognized logician. The use of this principal is demonstrated in his public self-presentation that allows to identify him as “an anti-communistic communist”, though he sometimes called himself “romantic communist”. It is important to remember that A. Zinoviev never considered himself to be either denouncer or apologist of the social order that he called “real communism”, having in mind the USSR. He viewed understanding as independent intellectual process equally distanced from emotional approach and moral assessments.

In my essay I try to depict – on the basis of Andrzej Kondratiuk’s movie Hydrozagadka – how superheroes from Polish People’s Republic were embodying the ideal vision of the proper civilian which was advocated by the communistic system, and what were the differences between them and their Western analogues, like Superman or Batman. First of all, the order they guarded and tried to maintain was presented by propagandist agendas as a total antithesis of the Western world – full of consumption, deprivation, and a source of all imaginable evil. Though, Hydrozagadka was not only a grotesque parody of American superheroes’ productions but also a mocking critique of communistic reality

Karl Marx and Marxism in the refl ections of Adam Ciołkosz — emigratory democratic socialistAdam Ciołkosz belongs to the most significant figures of the socialist movement. His political and journalistic activity in the interwar period is only known partially. Only his emigration stay in the United Kingdom in the years 1940–1978 resulted in dynamic development and political activity.Because he was an authentic democratic socialist, he used to protest against communistic ideology. The analysis of his rich work permits to notice some innovative changes, which took place in the last halfcentury in the European and Polish socialist movement.Since A. Ciołkosz was inspired by those changes, he dwelled on the authentic role of Carl Marx in the labour movement as well as his influence on the development of socialist and communistic ideology.

Abstract:
The influence of students of pre-war Lviv legal education on adjudicating by the Provincial District Court in Opole in the years 1950–1954 offers, in the author’s opinion, an important research issue. Especially in a case such as the one mentioned in title of the article, when the accused was a pre-war Polish citizen, a resident of the eastern borderlands of the Second Republic. It seems that the case is very instructive. It shows a pre-war graduate in law from the University of Lviv, who gradually passes onto the side of the communistic state and a simple man who knows the truth about the Soviet Union. Others are also described as officers of the security organs, mostly inept, but still exerting a tremendous pressure on society to consolidate communists’ power in postwar Poland. A railwayman of the Borderlands can be a summary of the summary – you should stick to the truth and not give in to strong pressure of the evil.

Abstract:
The article raises the question of fundamental identification and difference between the totalitarian regimes of fascism/Nazism and com- munism, followed by a discussion of their status in the first period of the post-Soviet political transit. The main arguments in favour of identifying both types of totalitarianism and marking fundamental moments of dis- tinction were reflected in the polemic of A. Besançon and L. Kołakowski. Criticism of the totalitarianism of fascist and communist types in the works of the French philosopher of Greek origin Cornelius Castoriadis al- lows seeing the features that connect most totalitarian regimes despite the difference in their ideological programs, which can represent a cer- tain threat even for modern societies. It also highlights those points of the Russian (Soviet) project of Communist society that allow differentiating between the Nazi and Communistic types of the Imaginary. Finally, the article considers the main types of public heteronomy, characteristic of totalitarian and authoritarian regimes, as well as the neoliberal model of consumption society. According to Castoriadis, they are contrary to the ideas of social emancipation, replacing it with their principles of (pseudo) rational domination, against which his own project of collective social au- tonomy stands.

Abstract:
Through various sources, particularly oral sources collected from ancient communists, ordinary members or officials, and articles of martinican Communist press, this thesis shows about the militant fervor of martinican men and women and essential political family in the course of the twentieth century. This study covers a long period extending mainly from 1920 to 1971 showing the early stuttering of communism in Martinique, his ascension, his prosperous period and the beginning of his slow decline. The issue is first to make discover Martinicans in their experience of communist militant, present how these men and women appropriated a doctrine, transformed it perhaps to suit at their needs, at their culture. It is also to consider what communist structure was put in place in Martinique; this organization was it like the metropolitan federations or was it a specific political party? Then to better understand the choices and paths, it’s necessary arrive at identifying mentors, origins of this activism and training of militants. Referents were as figures specific to Marxism and international and national socialism as figures as specific martinican politics. Then offer a reading of practices and activist strategies for assessing the quality and uniqueness of this militancy and the consequences of the commitment of these activists in different spheres. What were their political choices, why their political demands did they differ from others colonial Communists? How to explain their choice of a new society more egalitarian in a socialist state, but always associated with France? This research study positions that militancy in the center of an analysis that explores the political and social history of a population, based on other disciplines such as socio-biography and political-sciences. It examines the shaping of a people by a political significant group between 1920 and 1971, and the proposals of this group face different political and social problems in promoting an approach by the actors

Abstract:
The 1924-1927 United Front period has long been understood within a civil war context. The major revolutionaries of ethnic Han origins and the myriad of Comintern advisors that played significant roles have subsequently all been evaluated in those terms. My work decenters the civil war narrative in order to dislodge the rigid labels that have historically accompanied the identities of the Guomindang and the Chinese Communist Party. When re-evaluating the activities of the First United Front as a loosely defined tactical alliance, the White Terror -perpetrated by the GMD onto Communists and their affiliated members – then becomes a moment of permanent dichotomization of Communist and Nationalists groups. Analyzing the activities of the First United Front without rigid Communist and Nationalists labels, aids in clarifying the organizations actions. Moreover, when viewing these activities within the broader context of a global anti-colonial movement, the shared goals of the tactical alliance become more comparable to many of the ideological tenets driving self-determination in the twentieth century.

Abstract:
In the years 1936-1975, the french communist party incessantly proclaimed its opposition to the regime set up in spain by general franco. There were many different expressions of this attitude which - both before and after world war ii - ranged from the enrolment of militants and party officials in the international brigades to the organization of meetings and rallies. The fight against francoism generated discussions, decisions and tactical choices among party leaders. It also led to the creation of committees of support and solidarity and the publication of a long series of texts, brochures, leaflets and works of art. Finally, the communist party's opposition to francoism attracted many supporters who sometimes became fellow-travellers or new militants. For almost 30 years, the mental universe of the party was made up of images, beliefs, convictions, memories which expressed anti-francoism and closely united communists as a whole. This played a unifying role in the party and was used as a way to voice its patriotism and open nationalism. If we analyze this political culture, we can identify certain modes of operation and the political choices of the party. Yet, as of 1963, when the trial of julian grimau was organized in spain, a change in attitude could be noted. From then on, the representation which the communist party had constructed of its fight against francoism seemed to fade, to be erased. Although french communists continued to participate in the same activities, which had become ritual, they gradually lost their points of reference. The communist party then ceased to be a homogeneous society, it had lost the culture which since 1936 had built up its cohesion, its strength and its stability

Abstract:
To what extent does China's experience of economic reform since 1989 compel a reconsideration of the ontological foundations of contemporary capitalist development? China's political economy remains characterized by a unique and resilient political structure (the Chinese Communist Party) that penetrates both 'private' (market) and 'public' (state) organizations. The conceptual rootedness of contemporary theories of comparative and international political economy in a distinctly Western historical experience of capitalist development hinders their ability to understand Chinese capitalism on its own terms—as historically, culturally, and globally embedded. To generate greater analytic traction in understanding China's otherwise paradoxical constellation of actors and dynamics, I argue that contemporary capitalism should be studied as a set of mechanisms for managing and exploiting socio-economic uncertainty, rather than according to the binary logics of state regulation and market competition. These mechanisms can be conceptualized as an overarching risk environment. On this basis, I trace how the cognitive frames, social institutions, and relational networks that emerged within the 'socialist market economy' in China's post-Tiananmen financial system have placed the Chinese Communist Party at the nexus of the state and the market. I argue that specific ideas emerged about how to manage the flow of capital, playing a significant role in underpinning expectations of financial growth and stability. During this period the financial system underpinned the CCP's capacity to both manage and exploit socio-economic uncertainty through the path of reform, forming a central explanatory factor in a developmental trajectory marked by a trifecta of rapid economic growth, macroeconomic stability, and deepening socio-economic imbalances. Rather than viewing the path of financial reform in China solely in terms of 'partial' or 'failed' free- market reform, it thus becomes possible to cast China's development in a new light as the product of a more concerted vision of how the financial system would enable a mode of economic development that combined the drive for capital accumulation with the distinctive socio-political circumstances of post-1989 China.

Abstract:

Abstract:
This thesis intends to identify the references and the interpretation that the authors form the French and Communist parties have given to the historical character Vladimir Ilych Ulyanov (Lenin) between 1920 (the year of creation of the FCP) and 1989 (the year of dissolution of the RCP). The goal of this research was to observe the general manner in which these references determine the essence or the evolution of the two parties and the political frame created by the interpretations. Two distinct dimensions of the research were considered: the theoretical analysis of written document, which determines the impact made by the personality and the thinking of Lenin to the political program of the two parties; the analysis of the evolution of the two parties, of their political structures and the social systems they determine to finally see how the discourse is put into practice. The thesis is divided into five great chapters. The first one, Theory and practice: Leninism of the two parties, which has also a role of introduction, analyses the evolution of the two parties and their attachment to Leninism as a guide in their action. The second chapter, Soviet model and its application shows the manner in which the two parties have copied the construction applied in the Soviet Union. The third and the fourth chapter deal with the Political representations in Romania and France. There are two types of discourse that mention Lenin: the institutional discourse (present in the Party Congress or the plenary sessions of the Central Committee) and the ideological discourse (propagated through the speeches of the party leaders, the propaganda publications, the party press or the theoretical articles). The fifth chapter discusses Specific interpretations, published rather as individuals, in a scientific manner

Abstract:
This essay is about the monographic analysis and the collective biography of the communist enterprise in Périgord, from its beginning to the institutional breaking system brought by the Gaullist regime. The research is organized in a chrono-thematic manner, strating with an "ecological detour", an approach of the country and its people, rural and urban, local and immigrant. It follows on with the "Front populaire", the second world conflict, the cold war and the decolonization. The different configurations and processes of the communist activism are specifically recalled at the last part which explains the relationships and the pragmatism of a network of organisms adapted to the requirements and the expectancies of entire social groups. Amongst other things, the large appendix is a testimony of the public opinion regarding the communist ideology and the candidates during forty years of electoral competitions

Abstract The history of philosophical utopianism in the ancient world ends at this point, but its curious afterlife in the Christian church deserves attention because this was the channel through which the communistic ideals of antiquity were passed on to medieval Europe.

Abstract:
Minor planets (also called asteroids or planetoids) are small celestial bodies orbiting the Sun. In this work, we present one asteroid named after the Serbian and Byzantine princess Simonida Nemanjić (1294–1345), the wife of King Milutin. The asteroid was discovered from the Belgrade observatory on March 20, 1938, by Serbian astronomer Milorad B. Protić. It was provisionally designated with 1938 FB and after three decades of observations numbered 1675. In the early 1970s, following the suggestion of Ms Zora Sučić-Protić, who was the Minister of Education at the time, the asteroid was named SIMONIDA. In this article, we first give some general properties of asteroids, focusing on their discovery and designation method-ologies. Then, through the archives of the Astronomical Observatory and the personal legacy of M. B. Protić, we discuss the discovery and naming of the minor planet 1675 (1938 FB) Simonida. Taking into account the socio-political (communistic) and cultural circumstances in Yugoslavia, we consider possible reasons for choosing that name. At that time, fashion designer Aleksandar Joksimović, inspired by the fresco of Simonida from the monastery of Gračanica, made a collection of the same name. With its beauty and style, this collection reached the world’s largest fashion centres, but above all, it left its mark on the cultural scene of Yugoslavia. We therefore hypothesize that Sučić-Protić could have been influenced by that beauty when proposing the name for the asteroid. In the final part of the paper, we illustrate the orbital and physical properties of the minor planet 1675 Simonida.

Abstract:
The fact that progressive theologians and Marxist-humanist sociologists of religion had publicly displayed a significant level of mutual understanding and reached notably similar conclusions regarding Church-state relations by the early 1990s cannot obfuscate the controversies within the sphere of societal life in Yugoslavia that remained least affected by the principles of socialist self-management democracy. On the surface, the relationship between the Catholic Church and the state authorities in Slovenia, the northernmost and predominantly Catholic republic of Yugoslavia, appeared fairly peaceful and cooperative throughout the late socialist period. Furthermore, as this paper illustrates, Slovenian religious policy was proposed as a sophisticated model for the inclusive life of believers in a modern socialist society and presented to Vatican diplomats, international experts, and foreign journalists. Nonetheless, during that period, the more independent intellectuals, Catholic and Marxist alike, who warned that the Slovenian Catholic Church was departing from the course of the Second Vatican Council and that the Communist Party should abandon its orthodox Marxist-Leninist understanding of religion to foster genuine dialogue, were marginalised. Instead, there were lengthy debates focusing on whether certain social activities of the Catholic Church encroached on the domain designated for initiatives of the League of Communists and the Socialist Alliance of Working People. With a mounting crisis and increasing public pressure, some public religious manifestations were allowed in the second half of the 1980s, but the fundamental problems remained unaddressed. Although the liberalization of public discourse in Yugoslavia’s final years brought to the fore issues such as freedom of religion and freedom from religion ‒ both of which were integral to the contested programme of the ruling Communist Party and the type of socialist secular society the Slovenian reformed Communists sought to establish ‒, there was not enough time to rework the entrenched religious policy that had alienated many religious citizens.

Abstract:
The elections for the Constituent Assembly of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes in 1920 may show the political orientation of the voters and the acceptance of the party programs that the parties advocated during the pre-election period and in the work of the assembly. The elections were held in a part of the Modruš-Rijeka district that was not under Italian occupation, which significantly affected the results. Within the constituency, three areas are distinguished. Kordun with a predominantly Serb population votes for unitarian-centralist parties (“Pribićevićs“ and Radicals), and Croats for Croatian and federalist parties (Croatian Republican Peasant Party - CRPP and Party of Rights). It is similar in Gorki Kotar with the Croatian majority. In Primorje, there is a dispersion of votes between the Unitarians and the CRPP, with a smaller share going to the Radicals, the Croatian Popular Party (“clericals“) and the Communists. In the constituency, the Democrats won with 31.65% of the vote, the CRPP won 24.90%, communists 15.81%, and the rightists 12.53%. Three members of the Democrats, three members of the CRPP, one communist and one member of Party of Rights were elected. The Democrats brought together Yugoslav politicians, but not an integral one denied by the “tribes“, but pre-war coastal right-wingers who, in fear of Italian irredentism, wanted a strong state. The CRPP has not been successful in the Littoral, which, under pressure from the regime, can be attributed to a state program that does not suit coastal Croats. Those in the party's struggle against centralism and unitarism in the CRPP see the specter of separatism, which goes against the state as a shield against irredentism.

Abstract:
The article states that the universal Marxist law of socio-economic formations’ changing is absolutely significant and relevant in the sphere of modern philosophical knowledge. However, the basic idea of K. Marx about the communist formation turns out to be utopian. The article shows that utopias and antiutopias are dialectically interrelated - the line between them can be easily overcome. Any attempt to put a utopia into practice (for example, a communist one) discriminates against opposing "human factor", and the utopia transforms into an anti-utopia.

Abstract:
The history of law indeed refers to persons handing down judgments and often offers interesting stories, such as the story of a judge working under various political regimes Dr. Pavel Korbuly (1906–1970). On May 4, 1934, Korbuly was appointed a single judge in criminal matters, after 1948 he became an instrument of justice under the communist regime and was one of the most active judges of the State Court in Bratislava. Prior to the Vienna Arbitration, he was a judge in the Czechoslovak Republic, then in Hungary, and after 1948 he was one of the judges who tried and sentenced victims of the communist regime (more than 500 people) in Slovakia. By the same communist regime, however, Korbuly was later prosecuted due to his active support of the anti-communist uprising in Hungary in 1956. Unlike others, he was one of the judges who had realized their responsibility for convicting the innocent and committed public repentance. From this perspective, his life story is unique in Central Europe as well as worldwide.

Abstract:
Contemporary education, especially, the development of higher education is tightly bound with globalization and is also one of those indications characterizing the globalization. The impact of globalization on higher education is very wide and complex in post-communist countries. This research paper looks at the main characteristics of globalization as a whole, its influences on post-Soviet societies: the refusal and acceptance of the trends brought by globalization in post-communist countries, its impacts on education systems of less developed and developing countries, import of features of long-established education systems from abroad. The weaker education systems’ vulnerability before those powerful, well-established and long-standing education systems and the hard competition conditions encountered by them have been touched upon in this article. Subsequently, Azerbaijan, the pathways of its education history beginning from Russian Empire and Soviet Union, the language and alphabet changes, and aftermath the modern education system of Azerbaijan, newly established universities such as Khazar University, their local and international achievements and challenges and the overall situation of higher education in the country have been discussed as the case study.
