Full textThe exponential increase of wireless user equipments (UEs) and network services associated with current 5G deployments poses several unprecedented design challenges that need to be addressed with the advent of future beyond-5G networks and novel signal processing and transmission schemes. In this regard, massive MIMO is a well-established access technology, which allows to serve many tens of UEs using the same time-frequency resources. However, massive MIMO exhibits scalability issues in massive access scenarios where the UE population is composed of a large number of heterogeneous devices. In this thesis, we propose novel scalable multiple antenna methods for performance enhancement in several scenarios of interest. Specifically, we describe the fundamental role played by statistical channel state information (CSI) that can be leveraged for reduction of both complexity and overhead for CSI acquisition, and for multiuser interference suppression. Moreover, we exploit device-to-device communications to overcome the fundamental bottleneck of conventional multicasting. Lastly, in the context of millimiter wave communications, we explore the benefits of the recently proposed reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs). Thanks to their inherently passive structure, RISs allow to control the propagation environment and effectively counteract propagation losses and substantially increase the network performance

Full textThe aim of this research was to build in theory a concept of design as a communication device, first between two groups or moral persons : art and industry. The first part seeks for a definition of “art”, “industry”, “design” ; the emergence and evolution of these notions. A second part is aimed at building a concept of design that would distinguish itself from the usual definition of design understood only in its industrial extent, which is a phenomenon limited to the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The third part is an attempt to link this phenomenon with that of the emergence of a mediatic worldwide scene and universal exibition in order to produce modernism as a religion for the industrial era. This theoretical work also offers to measure how art is being modified by and through this industrial system, and on the other hand how some artists make the dream of a greater aesthetical attention progress in this system

The popularization of mobile devices capable of communicating via wireless network technologies allows us to consider different scenarios in which these devices may autonomously interact with each other. The envisioned communications would occur in a P2P fashion, as each device could simultaneously provide and consume services. A mechanism for dynamically discovering nearby devices and the available services would be necessary. Although a few existing applications already provide the direct interaction among devices they are purpose-specific and rely on pre-configured information for identifying other devices. A service-oriented architecture (SOA), based on HTTP requests and the REST or SOAP protocols, is commonly used in this type of communication. However, automatically finding available known services is still challenging. Service discovery is usually based exclusively on service name, which is not very flexible. This work proposes a new model for the direct interaction between computing devices. In an attempt to facilitate service discovery and selection we propose a content centric model in which interactions are defined according to an object’s type and the action to be applied to it. The proposed approach can workatop of existing discovery protocols, based on extensible metadata fields and on existing service data. Our proposal is evaluated according to i) the viability of direct communication between nearby devices, even when carried by users or associated to vehicles; ii) the proposed service discovery and matching using the content centric approach; iii) the effectiveness of a middleware to support the development of generic applications for direct device communication. Simulation results show our proposed model is viable. A preliminary implementation of the middleware was also evaluated and the results show that spontaneous, opportunistic, service-based interactions among devices can be achieved for different types of services.

Full textThe academic mobility between South Korea and France and the place of the French language in Higher Education lead us to study the outlooks of an exchange programme implemented in 2007 between two universities within the scope of training in linguistics for French as a Foreign Language (FFL). This research is based on the start of the programme and carries out a comparative study between two groups of Korean learners, i. E. The work of thirty third-year students – an experimental group which goes to Paris VIII in France and a control group which stays at the University of Hanyang in Korea during the same period of training. The analysis of statistics shows that the experimental group increased its language knowledge very rapidly during its stay in France. Students have independently taken intercultural steps enabling them to enrich their linguistic capital by taking away the stereotypes and emotional strategies that shape their communication. If the analysis we present reveals the dynamic nature of learning in mobility, it remains to be seen whether the socio-cultural gains enjoyed by the group that visited France are temporary or permanent. In other words, will time confirm progress made by the students or will they go back to the model and practices of classroom situations? These questions raise the issue of the “before” and the “after” of the trip and lead to the question of how to maintain the gains of mobility

Full textThis doctoral research in Communication Sciences focuses on the relationship between politicians and citizens in the context of digital social networks. The purpose of this research is to highlight the elements that contribute to the construction of the public image of a political figure in the digital age and to see what the effects are on citizens. Our systemic approach is an observation conducted on online exchange platforms as well as on an analysis of corpus built on the basis of a collection of publications, on Twitter and Facebook in particular. The general question that guides our approach is: how do policies take place on digital networks and what the effects on other users are ? Our starting hypothesis is that the online presence of policies is not realized in a goal of exchange and interaction, despite the promises and opportunities offered by online devices. Our observations and analyzes show that there are different possibilities to question online relationships and interactions. On the one hand, in the use that policies make of this new tool of political communication, and on the other hand in the forms of citizen participation

Full textTelemedicine allows use of information and telecommunication technologies in medical practice. Tried and tested in recent years by our health care system, it is considered as a modern means to current challenges: aging population, unequal access to health care delivery, medical desertification, etc. On health actors' request, the legislator has organized a legal framework for telemedicine by law n ° 2009-879 of 21 July 2009 reforming hospital system, and related to patients, to health care system and applicable in all territories, it is also embedded in the public health code. Telemedicine is governed by separate rules: those related to telemedicine's acts and those related to telemedicine's activity. Given the fact that telemedicine is based on medical procedures practiced through information and telecommunication technologies, it has to be regulated by ordinary laws rules on medical procedures as well as information and telecommunication technologies'rules. Thus, ordinary law rules and specific provisions currently coexist. Between ordinary law rules and specific provisions, does the telemedicine framework really fit with medical procedure?s requirements ?

Dental prosthesis is intended for replacement of lost dental pieces restoring the oral function and, taking into account their characteristics and purpose, are classified as Medical Devices (MD). Its preparation involves an interaction between the dental professionals, dental assistants and dental lab technicians. This narrative review aimed to catalog and define the MD in dentistry, in particular custom-made medical devices (CMMD, dentures); It was still intended to enumerate the main routes of infection transmission and general concepts about bio-safety that guide infection control in relation to clinical and laboratory environments during rehabilitation with CMMD; to review literature guidelines concerning communication between laboratory and dental clinics, particularly as to the possibilities of CMMD traceability in terms of control and bio-safety, and their contributions to clinical practice. The research used the following terminology: "medical device", "classification", "CE mark", "custom-made", "dental prostheses", "instructions for use", "single-use", "reprocessing" "cross infection", "dental office", "prosthodontic," "infection control", "disinfection", "sterilization", "traceability", "communication", "written instructions", "quality", "dental laboratory", "identification", "unique device identification", "denture marking" and "bar code" and methodology included, systematic and narrative reviews, cross-sectional observational studies, guidelines and law directives. Biosafety is a concept that reflects the preventive measures to be taken, concerning the auditing of existing risks, regarding elaboration of CMMD, and that implies coordination between teams (Dentist/dental Assistants / Lab technicians’) to ensure compliance with measures to prevent microorganisms transmissions; Traceability is the knowledge of the life cycle of a product, and the written records of different actions and technologies that enable the identification of these devices contribute to this. Patient safety and all professionals who are involved in the manufacture of dental prostheses process should be a priority, and the fulfillment of the documentation facilitates CMMD traceability, safety and quality controls.

Full textThe great diversity in the architecture of biomedical devices, coupled with their different communication protocols, has hindered the implementation of systems that need to make access to these devices. Given these differences, the need arises to provide access to such a transparent manner. In this sense, this paper proposes an embedded architecture, service-oriented, for access to biomedical devices, as a way to abstract the mechanism for writing and reading data on these devices, thereby contributing to the increase in quality and productivity of biomedical systems so as to enable that, the focus of the development team of biomedical software, is almost exclusively directed to its functional requirements
