Sy, Moussa Aleyri Salam. "Les enjeux politico-philosophiques de l'opposition aristocratique aux Princes, d'Auguste à Commode." Electronic Thesis or Diss., Bourgogne Franche-Comté, 2024. http://www.theses.fr/2024UBFCC008.
Full textThe establishment of the Principate by Augustus did not meet with the approval of a section of the senatorial aristocracy, which had lost most of the prerogatives considered to constitute their dignitas and auctoritas to the Princeps. The contestation and opposition of philosophical and political groups to the "legitimacy" of a reigning emperor became a feature of Roman public life. Opposition was seen as essential to preserving freedoms and ancient prerogatives. However, the oppositional rhetoric masked the foundation of the new regime, which was also based on republican institutions revised and influenced by philosophical doctrines, including Stoicism. The aim was to analyse the opposition of a section of the aristocracy to the Principate as a system and the Princeps as its embodiment. Faced with a power that was increasingly centred on the person of the prince, the question of the "good prince" arose, with currents both favourable and hostile to imperial power, among members of the aristocracy, particularly the senatorial aristocracy, within which the Stoics were to develop philosophical and political power balance in an attempt to influence the nature and form of political power. . It was therefore only natural that they should help to shape the Princeps' powers

Full textThe Forum of Augustus in Rome was a great public square opened in 2 BC built around the Avenger Mars temple with long marble porticoes and filled with sculpture series that resumed all the history of Rome from its very foundation, the deeds of all its great men and of the house of Augustus, Pater Patriae. We focused on the relationship of the different architectural spaces with the decoration, offering a reading of the multiple iconographic sets using the symbolic and visual links between the iconic elements. This work has allowed us to reveal the complex web of relationships between the sculptures and reliefs that were the iconographic program of the forum.

Full textVehicle exhaust emissions are today more and more restrictive. Common Rail engines allow to reach these requirements thanks to the high pressure injection. This pressure can vary from 200 up to 1600 bar according to the engine torque and speed. The goal of this work is to define the rail pressure controller based on the Common Rail features and to improve performance and robustness. Works have been done as follows: study of the Common Rail system and development of the physical model ; development of strategies and command laws ; real tests on vehicle. Vehicle tests showed a high improvement on performance and robustness thanks to the new methodology based on the Common Rail features and the advanced command laws (H8 control for Linear Parameter Varying systems). In particular the Linear Fractional Transformation (LFT) approach has been considered

Full textPublic procurement law and European Union competition law are now two of the main pillars of economic law. Competition law ensures free and undistorted competition in the internal market by protecting it from obstacles from both private and public entities. Public procurement law is intended to regulate a market representing 14% of Europe's gross domestic product. These two subjects are autonomous and seem to ignore each other. However, a careful analysis reveals the existence of actual convergences between them. The proper functioning of the market which purpose is to protect competition by merits, liberties and finaly the well-being of the European Union, is a common dynamic in these two areas. By doing so, both materials contribute to conservation of competitive public order. Their many complementarities, such as the defence of a competitive market structure, economic efficiency and the prevention of anticompetitive behaviour, demonstrate this. The specific objectives of competition law are reflected in public procurement law, while competition law protects the objectives of public procurement law. Similarly, despite several potential areas of confrontation related in particular to the control of State aid, the application of the law of anticompetitive practices against public purchasers or concession authorities, public procurement law and competition law seem systematically to agree on the preservation and development of effective competition. The Altmark case law, or the rigour of the criteria for public-public cooperation, testify to the daily proximity between these two subjects and their ability to enrich each other

Full textThis thesis is in the area of corporate finance and focuses on the impact that diversified institutional investors have on the competition in the product market of portfolio companies, also through the analysis of their votes on proposals in the general meetings of portfolio companies; it also analyzes the impact of the environmental and social funds on the corporate governance of portfolio firms. Chapter 1 investigates the relationship between common institutional ownership of firms in sectors along a supply chain and product market competition and provides evidence that the anticompetitive effects are only present in more downstream sectors. Chapter 2 investigates the role of Environmental and Social (ES) funds in corporate governance through exit and provides evidence that their asset allocation constraints regarding the ES profile of portfolio firms reduce their ability to influence portfolio firms through the threat of exit. Chapter 3 analyzes the voting records of institutional investors to understand if their voting behavior is aimed at internalizing externalities among horizontally and vertically related portfolio firms and finds limited empirical evidence

Full textThis work deals with multicells converters control. This new static power converter structure appeared at the end of the 90's and has many interesting advantages for high voltage energy conversion. But the perfect dynamic control of the internal variables is an important objective for industrials applications. The first part of this work will be devoted to the study of the multicell structure, with its high interest in energy conversion. An average state space model of the system is given. Different classical non linear control lows are presented in the second part, in order to fit some specific dynamic requirements, very particular to this type of power converter. Thus two methods based on the input / output linearization and on the Lyapunov functions are implemented and tested. Moreover, an original estimator for the different voltages is proposed. In the third part, two differents types of Fuzzy Control of multicells converter are proposed. The first one is based on the average model and leads to classical structure and performances. The second allows the control of the converter through phase shifts variations between the differents trigger signals, but requires a fuzzy inversion of the harmonic model. Simulations results are provided for all the differents control laws on 3 or 4 cells converters. Most of them were implemented and tested through experiments

Full textThe modest houses are rarely taken into account in capital architecture studies of 16th century. However, they represented the majority of construction activity in Paris at that time, and many examples still exist today, but they are often difficult to identify because of the transformations in later times. Their study was conducted for the period 1530 to 1600. It was carried out following three complementary axes : a review of the notarial archives of the 16th century, a study of iconographic sources and, finally, an analysis of old houses preserved. In confronting these three types of sources, some questions were raised about the role of project owners and project managers, masons and carpenters, the persistence of traditional medieval forms, the influence of first architectural treatises and aristocratic building on minor architecture, especially in the field of decor. The evolution of construction regulations has also been taken into account in order to evaluate the consequences on Parisian buildings. The purpose of this research was to describe the morphology of the houses, to specify the techniques and materials used and to observe the changes during the period. Finally, we tried to identify examples of Parisian houses built in the 16th century, still existing, and to document them over a long-term, to date the changes made to the initial construction

Conceived within the scope of a very well defined intellectual movement, the project, in modern architecture, aimed not only to build, but also to organize furniture and objects in living spaces. They intended to teach how to live, to indoctrinate the users about the correct way of using the living machine. The Marquês de São Vicente condominium, located in Gávea borough, Rio de Janeiro, was developed in this way by the architect Affonso Eduardo Reidy and built with the conviction that it would accomplish that program, as the idealists conceived of it. Starting with this premise, we visited many apartments in the complex and interviewed the residents of one of the buildings so as to develop a morphologic analysis of the existing configuration thet had been done by them, tho know the common sense discourse, so that it could be related with the original project and, afterwards, with the discourse of reason. In other words, we tried to know the other side of history, i.e., to learn how the others - the residents - built that room in their own imaginary.

Full textPrivate property is often reduced simply to individual property. However, every legal system also recognizes several institutions that organize co-ownership, sometimes through a legaJ person (e.g., joint tenancy, community property, condominiums, companies, joint and several obligation, etc.). This dissertation recognizes and studies co-ownership as ageneral legal category, as each institution provides concurrent property rights over a particular object. Concurrence is in the core of co-ownership while also constituting ils main problem. Co-ownership must be organized by a set of rules defining powers and duties, delineating how common income should be distributed, who bas the authority to make decisions, etc. This need for organization is the common tliread between ail co-ownership institutions. However, white this legal framework is mandatory, it can be provided for in various ways. We don't organize, say, marital community property in the same way as a condominium or the common assets of a company are organired. But these differences are not arbitrary. They can be explained by a certain set of parameters: the number of owners, the natun of their sociological links, and the aim they are jointly pursuing. This underlying rationality reveals co-ownership as an "ordered pluralism", illuminating each institution and allowing for some analogies to be drawn between them

Full textCommon principles, or threads, are studied that are readily found in both spiritual traditions (including religion) and in the field of sustainability. Oneness, Living Simply, Purity, and Care and Heart are examined at length, while Awakening, Awe and Wonder, and Preservation of Life are covered briefly. Opposite principles—for example, Oneness versus Fracturedness, and Purity versus Pollution—are analyzed as well. Principles and their opposites are found to have both high and low modes. Each polarity has life-supporting and life-degrading forms.
Spiritual and religious traditions are grouped into five broad categories. While three of the categories consist of world religions (traditions of Indian origin, Abrahamic traditions, and East Asian traditions), also included are indigenous traditions, alchemy and Hermeticism, and modern spiritual teachings. Sustainability is organized into three categories: ecological science, activism, and sustainable business.
The common threads between sustainability and spirituality are most reliably found in the segments of world religions that tend toward mysticism, and within teachings that emphasize the cultivation of a greater capacity for just awareness, or presence itself, such as Eckhart Tolle’s works. Indigenous traditions shine as examples of societies that have embodied, and in some cases, continue to embody life-supporting principles far more explicitly and fully than cultures that have lost intimacy with their local ecosystems.
The conclusions drawn based on findings is that wisdom traditions corroborate the idea that the outer world is a reflection of the inner world, and that improving the state of the planet therefore requires personal transformation as a prerequisite to outer improvements. A higher order of intelligence, or nous, referenced in multiple mystical traditions, is indispensable to sustainability work. This and other spiritual principles directly inform sustainability efforts, but to be fully employed they require first-hand, personal experience of spiritual realities. Those who would work toward a genuinely sustainable society are urged to pursue mystical or presence-based spiritual training and experience as a matter of urgency, including direct interaction with nature to facilitate rebuilding intimacy with ecosystems, combined with deepening understanding of ecologically sophisticated indigenous lifeways.

Full textNowadays, wind turbines contribute to a large part of energy production in the world. In 2013, 2.7% of global electricity production was based on wind power, with a goal of reaching 14% of total electricity demand in 2020. The progression was remarkable in the last years, namely in France where the wind power generation increased from 2.5 TWh (terawatt-hour) in 2013 to 21.1 TWh in 2015.In order to satisfy these objectives, the standard size of the wind turbine tends to grow. However, the megawatt size wind turbines are very expensive and thus their efficiency has to be optimized in order to maximize the produced energy. Furthermore, it is aimed to protect the equipment from damage and maximize the service life of wind turbines, which is usually 20 years. In this thesis, model predictive control (MPC) is used to control the wind turbine and to identify the faults that could occur. Since the computation time in the MPC strategy is high, its use in real time fast systems may become unfeasable. To overcome this difficulty, the MPC control inputs are parametrized by Laguerre functions (LMPC) or Kautz functions (KMPC). This allowed decreasing the computation time by 33% compared to non-parametrized MPC. The min-max MPC approach is also considered in order to render the control strategy robust to parametric uncertainties and faults scenarios. These control strategies are evaluated on a wind turbine model with a multi-input (pitch angle and generator torque) / multi- output (generator power and generator speed) control, with constraints on inputs and outputs. These results are discussed in Chapter IV.In Chapter V, the Laguerre or Kautz parameterized MPC is reformulated with the objective of faults compensations. Indeed, if the faults are detected and estimated then it is possible to calculate the correction required to compensate these faults. This strategy becomes interesting from a wind turbine is operated with a controller that is not aimed to be changed for security or cost reasons, and the objective of the operator is only to compensate actuator or sensor faults. In these simulations, an available benchmark was used with the controller implemented in it.The thesis also contains a bibliographic and three introductory chapters discussing the state of the art of the turbine model, its control, fault detection and the MPC strategies used in this work
