Abstract:
A code $A$ over a finite alphabet $X$ is a comma-free code if $A^2\cap X^+AX^+=\emptyset$, where $X$ is a finite alphabet containing more than one letter. This paper is a study of some algebraic properties of finite maximal comma-free codes. We give several characterizations on two-element comma-free codes and maximal comma-free codes. Let $X_n^m= X^n\cup X^{n+1}\cup \cdots \cup X^m$. We prove that for $n \ge 3$ , a maximal comma-free code in $X^n$ is a maximal comma-free code in the region $X_1^m\cup X^n$, $m < n/2$. We also obtain that for $X = \{a,b\}$, a maximal comma-free code in $X^3$ is a maximal comma-free code; a maximal comma-free code in $X^4$ is a maximal comma-free code in $X_1^4$; for every $n\ge 4$, there is a maximal comma-free code in $X^n$ which is not a maximal comma-free code.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Abstract The vertical motion and physical structure of elevated convection and generating cells within the comma heads of three continental winter cyclones are investigated using the Wyoming W-band cloud radar mounted on the National Science Foundation/National Center for Atmospheric Research (NSF/NCAR) C-130, supplemented by analyses from the Rapid Update Cycle model and Weather Surveillance Radar-1988 Doppler (WSR-88D) data. The cyclones followed three distinct archetypical tracks and were typical of those producing winter weather in the midwestern United States. In two of the cyclones, dry air in the middle and upper troposphere behind the Pacific cold front intruded over moist Gulf of Mexico air at lower altitudes within the comma head, separating the comma head into two zones. Elevated convection in the southern zone extended from the cold-frontal surface to the tropopause. The stronger convective updrafts ranged from 2 to 7 m s−1 and downdrafts ranged from −2 to −6 m s−1. The horizontal scale of the convective cells was approximately 5 km. The poleward zone of the comma head was characterized by deep stratiform clouds topped by cloud-top generating cells that reached the tropopause. Updrafts and downdrafts within the generating cells ranged from 1 to 2 m s−1, with the horizontal scale of the cells from about 1 to 2 km. Precipitation on the poleward side of the comma head conformed to a seeder–feeder process—the generating cells seeding the stratiform cloud—which was forced by synoptic-scale ascent. In one case, shallow clouds behind the cyclone’s cold front were also topped by cloud-top generating cells, with vertical motions ranging from 1 to 2 m s−1.

Abstract:
While the Council of Europe as an Intergovernmental Organization has proven remarkably resilient, its archives and records appear to be increasingly fragile. This article documents and analyses the development of records management and archives management within the Council of Europe between 2000 and 2003. This was a period that saw major changes in the way that records were treated in the organization, notably the preparation and implementation of an organization-wide archives policy, and the introduction of an archives management training programme for Council of Europe staff. The concept of archives and records was extended from paper to electronic and audio-visual materials. An internal network of archive correspondents was introduced to increase communication, consultation, co-ordinate RM and facilitate the implementation of the archives policy, and a series of measures was taken to improve access to the archives and records. It was during this period that the first steps were taken in the introduction of archives and records management standards ISAD(G) and ISO 15489. The article highlights the lack of continuity of RM and the increasing vulnerability of records within the organization, suggesting that the lack of professional staff is the most critical issue; the analysis of the developments in this period also illustrates the impact that personal initiatives can have in such a context.

Our results indicate that for an additive white Gaussian noise channel in a high signal-to-noise ratio the Improved CSD achieves faster synchronization with the base station and has lower hardware utilization when compared with the 3GPP-comma free CSD scheme under the same design constraints.

Abstract:
Background: The comma sign is a useful marker for combined retracted supraspinatus and subscapularis tears. It was first described by the group of Burkhart as a “composite ligamentous structure” of the rotator interval attached to the retracted subscapularis. However, Neyton and coworkers suggested that the ruptured superior part of subscapularis is pulled upward by supraspinatus retraction. This video illustrates the value of “comma” recognition for reduction and repair stability. We feel that the comma tissue can be a composition of rotator interval ligaments with or without superior subscapularis contribution depending on an associated cleavage tear. Indications: Patients with retracted anterosuperior tears, unless muscle quality is poor (Goutallier classification ≥3). Understanding of the comma tissue is difficult but of crucial importance to assess complex anterosuperior cuff tears for reduction and repair with stability by maintaining and integrating this comma link into the repair construct. Technique Description: Arthroscopic setup includes beach chair position, armholder, cerebral saturation monitoring (target mean arterial blood pressure of about 70 mm Hg). Previously described circumferential portals were used for a repair with a double row construct (4 medial anchors: 2.5 for subscapularis; 1.5 for supraspinatus) and 2 lateral anchors. The superior boarder of subscapularis as well as the retracted capsular layer of supraspinatus was reduced and fixed using a lasso loop technique. Key stages are (1) tendon manipulation with 2 traction sutures; (2) tendon release; (3) comma reduction; (4) footprint preparation (burr, microfracture); (5) retrograde suture passing; (6) knot tying, knotless lateral row; and (7) a close surgeon to physiotherapist rehabilitation link (6 weeks passive to 90°, no resistance training for 3-6 months). Results: Senior author’s (S.B.) series: 32 anterosuperior tears over 4 years (mean age: 62 years, 48-73 years), minimum follow-up 1 year showed good results (mean SSV: 85% [preop. 35%], range: 40%-95%; mean Constant: 82 [preop. 30], range: 40-90). One major complication (cutibacterium infection; brick layer; workers compensation; invalidity demand; Constant/Subjective Shoulder Value both 40) and minor temporary stiffness at 3 months (8 patients; 22%). Conclusion: Adequate reduction and comma integration into a solid repair construct, as well as responsible rehabilitation surveillance, deliver successful results after technically intricate anterosuperior repairs.

Abstract:
Abstract This paper presents analyses of the finescale structure of convection in the comma head of two continental winter cyclones and a 16-storm climatology analyzing the distribution of lightning within the comma head. A case study of a deep cyclone is presented illustrating how upper-tropospheric dry air associated with the dry slot can intrude over moist Gulf air, creating two zones of precipitation within the comma head: a northern zone characterized by deep stratiform clouds topped by generating cells and a southern zone marked by elevated convection. Lightning, when it occurred, originated from the elevated convection. A second case study of a cutoff low is presented to examine the relationship between lightning flashes and wintertime convection. Updrafts within convective cells in both storms approached 6–8 m s−1, and convective available potential energy in the cell environment reached approximately 50–250 J kg−1. Radar measurements obtained in convective updraft regions showed enhanced spectral width within the temperature range from −10° to −20°C, while microphysical measurements showed the simultaneous presence of graupel, ice particles, and supercooled water at the same temperatures, together supporting noninductive charging as an important charging mechanism in these storms. A climatology of lightning flashes across the comma head of 16 winter cyclones shows that lightning flashes commonly occur on the southern side of the comma head where dry-slot air is more likely to overrun lower-level moist air. Over 90% of the cloud-to-ground flashes had negative polarity, suggesting the cells were not strongly sheared aloft. About 55% of the flashes were associated with cloud-to-ground flashes while 45% were in-cloud flashes.

Abstract:
The importance of Paul's first extant letter to the study of early Christianity has clearly been demonstrated by the attention paid to just a small part of it, the ‘dreadful text’ of 1 Thessalonians 2.14–16, a ‘passionate, generalizing, hateful’ diatribe against the Jews for having killed both the Lord Jesus and the prophets and for interfering with Paul's mission to the Gentiles. Or so it has seemed to most historians, theologians, and exegetes of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries who have studied the passage. Those early, stunning verses of Paul, written probably in 50 or 51 C.E. from Corinth to his recently founded church in Thessalonica, have proved especially embarrassing to Jews and Christians who, in post-Holocaust self-examination and post-Vatican II ecumenical spirit, have been trying to exorcise the demons of antisemitism. How could Paul, a proud Jew and Pharisee, so categorically condemn his own people? And how can so early and sweeping a condemnation be explained by scholars who argue that such virulent antisemitism did not in fact develop until the latter part of the century, after the destruction of the Temple and the council at Jamnia?

Abstract:
Abstract Data from airborne W-band radar, thermodynamic fields from the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) Model, and air parcel back trajectories from the Hybrid Single-Particle Lagrangian Integrated Trajectory (HYSPLIT) model are used to investigate the finescale reflectivity, vertical motion, and airmass structure of the comma head of a winter cyclone that produced 15–25 cm of snow across the U.S. Midwest on 29–30 January 2010. The comma head consisted of three vertically stacked air masses: from bottom to top, an arctic air mass of Canadian origin, a moist cloud-bearing air mass of Gulf of Mexico origin, and a drier air mass originating mostly at low altitudes over Baja California and the Mexican Plateau. The drier air mass capped the entire comma head and significantly influenced precipitation distribution and type across the storm, limiting cloud depth on the warm side, and creating instability with respect to ice-saturated ascent, cloud-top generating cells, and a seeder–feeder process on the cold side. Convective generating cells with depths of 1.5–3.0 km and vertical air velocities of 1–3 m s−1 were ubiquitous atop the cold side of the comma head. The airmass boundaries within the comma head lacked the thermal contrast commonly observed along fronts in other sectors of extratropical cyclones. The boundary between the Gulf and Canadian air masses, although quite distinct in terms of precipitation distribution, wind, and moisture, was marked by almost no horizontal thermal contrast at the time of observation. The higher-altitude airmass boundary between the Gulf of Mexico and Baja air masses also lacked thermal contrast, with the less-stable Baja air mass overriding the stable Gulf of Mexico air.

Abstract:
The development of elevated potential instability within the comma head of a continental winter cyclone over the north-central United States is examined using a 63-h Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) Model simulation. The simulation is first compared to the observed cyclone. The distribution of most unstable convective available potential energy (MUCAPE) within the comma head is then analyzed. The region with positive MUCAPE was based from 2- to 4-km altitude with MUCAPE values up to 93 J kg−1. Backward trajectories from five sublayers within the region of elevated convection in the comma head were calculated to investigate how elevated potential instability developed. Air in the lowest sublayer, the source air for convective cells, originated 63 h earlier near Baja California at elevations between 2.25- and 2.75-km altitude. Air atop the layer where convection occurred originated at altitudes between 9.25 and 9.75 km in the Arctic, 5000 km away from the origin of air in the lowest sublayer. All air in the layer in which convection occurred originated over the Pacific coast of Mexico, the Pacific Ocean, or arctic regions of Canada. Diabatic processes strongly influenced air properties during transit to the comma head. Air underwent radiative cooling, was affected by mixing during passage over mountains, and underwent interactions with clouds and precipitation. Notably, no trajectory followed an isentropic surface during the transit. The changes in thermodynamic properties along the trajectories led to an arrangement of air masses in the comma head that promoted the development of potential instability and elevated convection.

Abstract:
Abstract Data from airborne W-band radar are used in conjunction with thermodynamic fields from the Weather Research and Forecasting Model and air-parcel back trajectories from the HYSPLIT model to investigate the finescale reflectivity, vertical motion, and airmass structure of the comma head of a winter cyclone in the vicinity of the Great Lakes. Cloud-top generating cells formed along an upper-level frontal boundary vertically separating dry air, which 48 h earlier was located in the upper troposphere over south-central Canada, from moist air, which was located in the lower troposphere over the southeast United States. The stronger updrafts within the generating cells had vertical velocities ranging from 1 to 3 m s−1. The generating cells were important to precipitation production within the comma head. Precipitation trails formed within the generating cells could sometimes be followed to the boundary layer before merging. Boundary layer air beneath the cyclone’s comma head exhibited convective circulations and was turbulent. Gravity waves were sometimes observed at the base of the stable layer atop the convective boundary layer. Trajectory analyses showed that boundary layer air sampled by radar beneath the aircraft path had a history of crossing the Great Lakes. The magnitude of updrafts and downdrafts in the boundary layer were 1–2 m s−1, while wave circulations exhibited maximum updrafts and downdrafts of ~3 m s−1. The tops of some boundary layer convective circulations and gravity waves exhibited enhancements in radar reflectivity. The data presented illustrate the impact of the Great Lakes on cyclone mesostructure during the passage of a cyclone through the region.

Comma-free codes were first introduced in [1] in 1957 as a possible genetic coding scheme for protein synthesis. The general mathematical setting of such codes was presented in [3], and the biochemical and mathematical aspects of the problem were later summarized and extended in [4].Using the notation of [3], a set D of k-tuples or k-letter words, (a1a2 … ak), wherefor fixed positive integers k and n, is said to be a comma-free dictionary if and only if, whenever (a1a2 … ak) and (b1b2 … bk) are in D, the “overlaps”are not in D. This precludes codewords having a subperiod less than k; and two codewords which are cyclic permutations of one another cannot both be in D.

Abstract:
Surface observations of ice habit and degree of riming were measured for 12 cyclone events over 3 winter seasons at Stony Brook, New York, on the northeast coast of the United States. A total of 205.6 cm of snow accumulated during these storms, with an average degree of riming of 1.25 (out of 5) and snow-to-liquid ratio ranging from 3:1 to 17:1. There were consistent spatial patterns of habit and riming intensity relative to the cyclone structure. Cold-type habits (side planes and bullets) commonly occurred within the outer comma head to the north and northeast of the cyclone center. In the middle of the comma head, moderately rimed dendrites, plates, and needles were observed. Close to the cyclone center, heavy riming was observed with needles and graupel. The western quadrant of the comma head had primarily plates and dendrites with little to no riming. Periods of light riming and high snow–liquid ratios (≥13:1) are dominated by cold-type habits, dendrites, and plates and have similar vertical motion and synoptic characteristics inferred from 13-km Rapid Update Cycle analyses. Maximum vertical motion occurred in a region of favored ice growth and less supercooled water (from −15° to −25°C). During heavy riming periods, needles and graupel are dominant and the vertical motion maximum occurs at temperatures from 0° to −5°C. Vertically pointing Micro Rain Radar indicates stronger vertical motions and turbulence for heavy riming as opposed to light rimming periods. Periods with low snow-to-liquid ratio (≤7:1) were observed to occur either as heavy rimed particles or as light riming of compact habits such as sideplanes, bullets, and needles.

Abstract:
The Aeneid, like the Iliad, opens with a seven-line paragraph. The question arises: is this paragraph also a single sentence, consisting of the first three words arma uirumlque cano as main sentence, with all the rest forming one long relative clause of six and a half lines, introduced by qui in line 1, and organized round the one indicative verb apart from cano, namely, uenit in line 2? A glance at the editions confirms that we have a problem here. Everyone agrees on commas after cano, superum, iram, passus and of course on a full stop after Romae. The uncertainties arise after litora and after Latio. Whereas Sidgwick (1890) and Page (1894) put commas at both these points, Mynors (1969), followed both by Austin (1971) and R. D. Williams (1972) puts a comma after litora, but a semicolon after Latio, while Hirtzel (1900) puts a dash at both points. What difference does it make?

The progress rate of the (1 +λ)-ES (Evolution Strategy) is analyzed on the parabolic ridge test function. A differentprogress behavior is observed for the (1, λ)-ES than for the sphere model test function. The characteristics of the progress rate picture for the plus strategy differs little from the one obtained for the sphere model, but this strategy has drastically worse progress rate values than those obtained for the comma strategy. The dynamics of the distance to the progress axis is also investigated. A theoretical formula is derived to estimate the change in this distance over generations. This formula is used to derive the expected value of the problem-specific distance to the ridge axis. The correctness of the formulae is supported by simulation results.

It is well known that Calvin made important use of Erasmus—the most quoted author in Calvin’s Commentaries on the New Testament—although he criticized him and contested his position more than regularly. This paper is focusing on a philological use of Erasmus by Calvin in his commentaries to the Canonical Epistles, particularly in the first Epistle of John with the Comma Joanneum (chapter 5). Two questions emerge. First, in which places (loci) did Calvin quote Erasmus in an exegetical or philological way of commenting the New Testament? Second, what did Calvin take and leave from Erasmus’s annotations? At the end of the demonstration, Max Engammare proves that Calvin did not read 1 John 5 with Erasmus’ help. The Reformer was well acquainted both with the problem and Erasmus’ solution, but he accepted the Comma Joanneum without any reservation as something good, even excellent for Christians.

Abstract:
Abstract On 25 December 2016, a 984-hPa cyclone departed Colorado and moved onto the northern plains, drawing a nearby Arctic front into the circulation and wrapping it cyclonically around the equatorward side of the cyclone. A 130-km-wide and 850-km-long swath of surface winds exceeding 25 m s−1 originated underneath the comma head of the lee cyclone and followed the track of the Arctic front from Colorado to Minnesota. These strong winds formed in association with a downslope windstorm and mountain wave over Colorado and Wyoming, producing an elevated jet of strong winds. Central to the distribution of winds in this case is the Arctic air mass, which both shielded the elevated winds from surface friction behind the front and facilitated the mixing of the elevated jet down to the surface just behind the Arctic front, due to steep lapse rates associated with cold-air advection. The intense circulation south of the cyclone center transported the Arctic front and the elevated jet away from the mountains and out across Great Plains. This case is compared to an otherwise similar cyclone that occurred on 28–29 February 2012 in which a downslope windstorm occurred, but no surface mesoscale wind maximum formed due to the absence of a well-defined Arctic front and postfrontal stable layer. Despite the superficial similarities of this surface wind maximum to a sting jet (e.g., origin in the midtroposphere within the comma head of the cyclone, descent evaporating the comma head, acceleration to the top of the boundary layer, and an existence separate from the cold conveyor belt), this swath of winds was not caused by a sting jet.

Abstract:
The article deals with the method of automatic detection of authors’ gender identity on the material of fiction prose of 1980–2000. During this period, there is a special construct, called “women’s prose”, which is characterized by a special genre and stylistic originality. We set ourselves the task to find out whether the concept of “women’s prose” refers only to the non-text reality or is clearly reflected at the level of language. We have collected corpus of texts 1980–2000 and conducted that identified the most effective machine learning algorithms for the classification of male and female prose. This research focuses on methods for automatically determining the gender identity of authors on the material of prose from 1960 to 2000. The purpose of this work is to identify optimal methods for automatically determining the gender identity of the authors. The objectives of this study include highlighting the grammatical and stylistic features of prose from 1960 to 2000 and, in particular, women's prose and texts of 18th – 19th centuries; tracing the changes in the distribution of usage different parts of speech and punctuation for a specified period and conducting an experiment to identify the most effective algorithm for the classification of literary texts by using machine learning. The analysis revealed that women and men often use in their texts the following parts of speech: nouns, verbs, prepositions, pronominal nouns, conjunctions, and adjectives that reflects the specific artistic style. In addition, analysis was made of the use of the most commonly used punctuation marks from the given list: question mark, exclamation point, comma, colon, semicolon, period, comma. It has been observed that women are more actively using the means of punctuation as a means of expression in modern literature: the share of the use of exclamation, question marks and commas the writers is much higher than the value obtained through the analysis of men’s texts. The work also contains an analysis of the distribution of parts of speech and punctuation of literary texts of men and women of 18th – 19th centuries. We performed experiment to identify the most effective algorithm for determining the gender identity of the author. It was found that the most effective classifiers of literature are the implementation of algorithms as BayesNet and SMO.

Abstract:
This research presented the stylistic analysis of a poem by William Blake, The Little Boy Lost. The poem was chosen as it becomes Blake's one of well-known poems in his Song of Innocence. Moreover, this poem uses simple structure and dictions, but it conveys a profound meaning. This research aimed: (1) to discover how the language level in the poem used and (2) to find out the interpretation of the poem. The stylistic analysis aimed at observing the meaning of either literary or non-literary text by the language device used. The researcher conducted a data population method in analyzing the poem. There were four language levels to achieve the goal; they were phonological, graphological, lexical, and syntactic level (Verdonk: 2002). In the phonological level, assonance, consonance, and alliteration were used to emphasize important words. In the graphological level, the comma in the last line of stanza 1 is prominent to distinguish the different speakers. In the lexical level, metaphor was used to voice the little boy's hopes to find enlightenment to get out of his difficulties. Meanwhile, symbolism conveys a deeper meaning than the literal meaning. In the syntactic level, the tenses switching used to emphasize the different speakers and the comma in the graphological level; and the word repetition used to create the little boy's sense of innocence.

The author’s view The notion of detention of the foreign asset or investment, which is the premise for the application of the entire tax monitoring discipline, consists in a concrete, actual and effective relationship between the holder and the foreign investment. That relationship must exist both in the case of direct ownership and in the cases, identified by the second sentence of Article 4, paragraph 1, of indirect or mediated ownership. The concept of beneficial ownership, which, together with indirect ownership, constitutes the other requirement set forth by the second period of Article 4, paragraph 1, has a distinctive attribute the power to direct to oneself the advantage that can be obtained through foreign investment or financial activity. «Identified or easily identifiable beneficiaries»: the mere mention in the trust deed is not sufficient, but the powers in respect of the attribution must be traced in the specific case, which must be embodied to a holding through indirect possession, such as to also integrate the requirements of actual ownership. The need for a systematic interpretation of the two periods of paragraph 1 of Article 4 - i.e. referring the requirement of possession also to the cases highlighted by the second period - and the diversity of the subjective extension of the monitoring duties in comparison with the AML discipline, given the distance in goals and purposes between the two regulations.

Abstract:
AbstractResonant THz radiation generation is proposed by beating of two spatial-triangular laser pulses of different frequencies (ω1, ω2) and wave numbers $\lpar \vec k_1 \comma \; \vec k_2 \rpar $ in plasma having external static magnetic field. Laser pulses co-propagating perpendicular to a dc magnetic field exert a nonlinear ponderomotive force on plasma electrons, imparting them an oscillatory velocity with finite transverse and longitudinal components. Oscillatory plasma electrons couple with periodic density ripples n′ = nq0eiqz to produce a nonlinear current, i.e., responsible for resonantly driving terahertz radiation at $\lpar {\rm \omega} = {\rm \omega} _1 - {\rm \omega} _2 \comma \; \vec k = \vec k_1 - \vec k_2 + \vec q\rpar $. Effects of THz wave frequency, laser beam width, density ripples, and applied magnetic field are studied for the efficient THz radiation generation. The frequency and amplitude of THz radiation were observed to be better tuned by varying dc magnetic field strength and parameters of density ripples (amplitude and periodicity). An efficiency about 0.02 is achieved for laser intensity of 2 × 1015 W/cm2 in a plasma having density ripples about 30%, plasma frequency about 1 THz and magnetic field about 100 kG.

Abstract:
An increase in the consumption of petroleum products in the transport and energy systems and intensive development of some branches of industry (especially petrochemical industry and oil refining) results in the accumulation of numerous waste in the form of waste oils, oil sludge and other oily liquids. The problem of waste disposal can be solved by using oily liquids as fuel for combustion at thermal power plants in order to produce thermal and electrical energy. To study the rheological characteristics of oil-water-coal emulsions based on anthracite with the solid phase concentration of 40%, an oil phase with the concentration of 49% (motor oils Motul 8100 X-cess 5W-40 and Comma Xtech 5W-30), water (10%) and nonionic surfactant (1%) as an emulsifier-stabilizer. It was found that the rheological characteristics of oil-water-coal emulsions depend not only on the granulometric composition of coal, but also on the viscosity of the dispersed medium (motor oils). Physicochemical and service properties of oil-water-coal systems under consideration allow using them as fuel. Given the availability and relative cheapness of feedstock, this type of fuel can successfully compete with traditional types of liquid fuels.

Abstract:
This research centered on effects of instruction in mechanical accuracy on correct spelling and the use of comma in composition writing by students in College of Education Billiri. It was geared towards improving students’ performance in essay writing. A quasi experimental research design was adopted. The population was NCE I students of College of Education Billiri, Gombe State. A sample of 112 NCE 1 students selected purposively was used. Two intact classes of NCE I students, one as the control and the other as experimental group were used. Two research questions and two hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. The 2018 WASSCE questions were adapted and used to collect data, and the data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and t-test statistics. The results showed a significant difference between students who received treatment on mechanical accuracy as they achieved higher than those who did not. The study concluded that instruction in mechanical accuracy improves students’ correct spelling and use of comma in composition writing. Based on these findings, a number of recommendations were made, major among is that teachers of English composition writing should teach mechanical accuracy separately for the learners to apply the rules while composing essays.

Abstract:
In a multiple-choice test, the preference of egg-laying Polygonia c-album (comma butterfly) females was studied for oviposition on plants bearing surrogate leaves treated with crude methanol extracts obtained from leaves of seven host-plant species: Humulus lupulus, Urtica dioica, Ulmus glabra, Salix caprea, Ribes nigrum, Corylus avellana, and Betula pubescens. The ranking order of surrogate leaves treated with host-plant extracts corresponded well to that reported on natural foliage, except R. nigrum. Thus, host-plant choice in P. c-album seems to be highly dependent on chemical cues. Moreover, after two subsequent fractionations using reversed-phase chromatography the nonvolatile chemical cues residing in the most polar water-soluble fractions evidently provided sufficient information for egg-laying females to discriminate and rank between the samples of more and less preferred plants, since the ranking in these assays was similar to that for natural foliage or whole methanol extracts, while the physical traits of the surrogate leaves remained uniform.

Abstract:
Aims: To assess swelling after surgical extraction of impacted mandibular third molar using two different techniques i.e. comma incision and standard Wards incision. Study Design: Cross sectional study. Setting: Dental OPD of Isra Dental College, Isra University. Period: February to August 2017. Materials and Methods: A sample of 70 patients with impacted third molar was selected by non-probability purposive sampling. Patients were distributed in either conventional technique or by coma shaped incision groups. All procedure was carried out at the Department of Oral surgery, Isra Dental College Hospital. Post-operative measurement of swelling was measured on 1st, 3rd and 7th day respectively. Results: Mean ± SD was noted as 28.70 ± 3.89 years respectively. Age distribution was from 20 – 35 years. Gender distribution in group A was 11 (31.4%) males and 24 (68.6%) females while in group B was 17 (48.5%) males and 18 (51.5%) females respectively with X2 = 2.14 and p= 0.22. Swelling was measured after surgical extraction at day 1, day 3 and day 7. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that the swelling was to some extent reduced in the Coma incision in comparison to the standard Ward`s incision. Further research with newer flap designs like the comma design, which might lessen the post-operative problems, ought to be measured in the extraction of impacted third molar surgery.

Abstract:
Objectives: To compare trismus in surgical removal of impacted mandibularthird molar using comma incision and standard Wards incision. Study Design: Cross sectionalstudy. Setting: Dental OPD of Isra Dental College, Isra University. Period: 1st January to 30thJune 2016. Materials and Methods: A sample of 50 patients of impacted third molar wasselected by non-probability purposive sampling for tooth extraction either by conventionaltechnique or by coma shaped incision at the Department of Oral surgery, Isra Dental CollegeHospital. Patients were selected according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. Post-operativemeasurement of trismus was measured on 1st, 3rd and 7th day respectively. Results: Mean ±SD age in group A and B was noted as 28.5 ± 4.32 and 27.2 ± 4.39 years respectively. Maleand female in groups A and B were noted as 16 (64%) and 9 (36%), & 14 (56%) and 11 (44%)respectively. Right and left lower mandibular teeth extraction in groups A and B were noted 11and 14, & 10 and 15 respectively. Trismus was measured preoperatively and subsequently atday 1, day 3 and day 7. Conclusion: In conclusion, the Coma incision was preferable over theconventional method- the standard Ward`s incision because of lesser degree of trismus seen.Further research with newer flap designs and the comma design should be preferred by theclinicians for the extraction of impacted third molar surgery.
