Abstract:
Apterous and alate viviparous females of Macrosiphoniella kermanensis sp. nov. living on Artemisia sieberi (Asteraceae) are described from Iran. Also, Coloradoa heinzei (Borner) from Artemisia aucheri (Asteraceae), as a new record in Iran, is redescribed. A key to the apterous viviparous females of Macrosiphoniella del Guercio species living on Artemisia in Iran is given.

Abstract:
Abstract The paper presents a comprehensive compilation of 764 taxa (species and subspecies), distributed over 167 genera, belonging to 17 subfamilies, three families and three superfamilies of Aphidomorpha recorded to date from Poland. The systematic positions of 19 taxa have been revised in accordance with recent changes in nomenclature. The presence in the Polish aphidofauna of Drepanosiphum oregonensis and Coloradoa huculaki, previously included without any distribution data in checklists of Polish aphids, has been confirmed. One species Sitobion (Sitobion) alopecuri is recognized as being new to Poland. At least 44 species (6% of local fauna of Aphidomorpha) are alien to Poland; among them 11 species collected from plants imported or cultivated in indoor conditions are listed.

Abstract:
The study objective was to use a preliminary risk based framework to evaluate the sufficiency of existing air data to answer an important public health question in Colorado: Do volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emitted into the air from oil and gas (OG) operations result in exposures to Coloradoans living at or greater than current state setback distances (500 feet) from OG operations at levels that may be harmful to their health? We identified 56 VOCs emitted from OG operations in Colorado and compiled 47 existing air monitoring datasets that measured these VOCs in 34 locations across OG regions. From these data, we estimated acute and chronic exposures and compared these exposures to health guideline levels using maximum and mean air concentrations. Acute and chronic non-cancer hazard quotients were below one for all individual VOCs. Hazard indices combining exposures for all VOCs were slightly above one. Lifetime excess cancer risk estimates for benzene were between 1.0 × 10−5–3.6 × 10−5 and ethylbenzene was 7.3 × 10−6. This evaluation identified a small sub-set of VOCs, including benzene and n-nonane, which should be prioritized for additional exposure characterization in site-specific studies that collect comprehensive time-series measurements of community scale exposures to better assess community exposures.

Tinnell, Charles. "The Relationship between Isolation, Distress, and Medical Care among Transgender Coloradoans." ScholarWorks, 2018. https://scholarworks.waldenu.edu/dissertations/4761.

Abstract:
In Colorado in 2014, suicidal ideation or suicide attempts occurred up to 10 times more frequently among transgender persons than the general population. This reality occurred within a milieu of stigma that included transgender persons' negative perceptions of healthcare, a higher incidence of psychological distress, and an uncertain role for social isolation in their well-being. The purpose of this quantitative study was to explore the interactions between social isolation, supportive medical care, and psychological distress within the framework of Meyer's minority stress theory. Data were acquired from the 2014 Colorado Transgender Health Survey conducted by the One Colorado Education Fund (n = 417). These survey data were analyzed using multivariate techniques and structural equation modeling. Key findings were that psychological health and social integration were positively related (p < .001), supportive medical care and psychological health were positively related (p = .016) and influenced by race and gender identity (p = .05), and, social integration and supportive medical care were not significantly associated. Access to medical care and disease history influenced these relationships (p < .001), and 5 distinct gender identity/race groups emerged. The positive social change implications stemming from this study include recommendations for healthcare and policy-making bodies to improve understanding regarding gender and racial disparities in medical and psychological healthcare, to expand collection of gender identity and victimization data, to improve availability of adequate insurance coverage, and, to foster employment and housing equity. Implementation of these recommendations may improve the lives of transgender Coloradans.
