Abstract:
The evaluation of English teaching quality in colleges mainly faces two problems: the evaluation index system (EIS) is incomplete, and the evaluation model cannot easily handle complex fuzzy indices. To solve the problems, this paper explores deep into the fuzzy evaluation of college English teaching quality, and establishes a fuzzy evaluation model of college English teaching quality based on analytic hierarchy process (AHP). Firstly, theoretical analysis was combined with model calculation to create an improved multi-angle EIS for college English teaching quality. From both quantitative and qualitative analyses, a college English teaching quality evaluation model was constructed to handle fuzzy indices. Implementation results show that the proposed EIS and fuzzy evaluation model can effectively assess the quality of English teaching in colleges. The research results greatly promote the quality improvement of college English teaching.

Abstract:
The fair, objective, scientific, and comprehensive evaluation of teaching quality helps college teachers improve the quality of teaching, and enables colleges to realize their goals of talent training. Therefore, it is important to find a way to comprehensively evaluate the teaching quality of college teachers. Drawing on the theories of analytic hierarchy process (AHP), this paper sets up an evaluation index system (EIS) for teaching quality of college teachers, and determines the weight of each index. Taking the teachers of a college for example, the multi-level fuzzy comprehensive evaluation (FCE) was carried out to quantify the teaching quality of these teachers. The results show that AHP and FCE can quantify and qualify the teaching quality at the same time. The combined use of the two techniques is applicable to comprehensive evaluation of teaching quality, and the assessment of a single factor, offering a complete understanding of the teaching quality of college teachers. The research provides a scientific way to evaluate the teaching quality of college teachers, and a realistic tool to enhance the teaching quality in colleges.

Abstract:
The teaching of an introductory course in American Government can be a difficult and frustrating endeavor under even the best of circumstances. Given the general level of cynicism and/or lack of interest by large numbers of Americans regarding politics and politicians, the task of generating student enthusiasm, or even mild interest, toward the subject matter can indeed be an arduous one. When the teaching of such a course takes place in a business college, and when the student audience is “captive” to a college requirement that all students must take the course, the task can be rendered considerably more formidable. For the past six years I have been teaching such courses at business colleges — one year at Bryant College in Rhode Island, and the following five years at Bentley College in Massachusetts.

Abstract:
In order to increase the effectiveness and teaching quality of numerous classroom activities in colleges and universities, this paper puts forward the effectiveness assessment technique of teaching activities in colleges, universities, and institutions of higher education based on the optimized Apriori algorithm. A mathematical model for assessing the efficacy and usefulness of classroom activities in colleges and universities is constructed. Teaching contents, teaching attitudes, teaching methods, teaching effects, test results, and students’ performance are introduced as comprehensive evaluation factors, and a decision-making model for assessing the success and efficiency of classroom activities in colleges and universities is established by adopting scientific, reasonable, and systematic teaching methods. Through the grey correlation analysis of classroom teaching quality, the delay characteristic analysis and the adaptive parameter adjustment method are adopted. This paper constructs the optimal Apriori algorithm model of college teaching classroom activities, constructs the optimal evaluation function model of college teaching classroom activities effectiveness evaluation by the method of support-confidence joint estimation, extracts the optimal quality parameter set of college teaching classroom activities by the optimization detection method and association rule mining, and realizes the effectiveness evaluation and multi-dimensional parameter estimation of college teaching classroom activities by the optimized Apriori algorithm. The test outcomes confirm that this technique is reliable in evaluating the effectiveness of classroom activities in colleges and universities, and the directional distribution of association rules of classroom quality in colleges and universities is significant, which meaningfully advances the classroom teaching levels and quantitative evaluation abilities.

Abstract:
Along with the pace of educational reform in colleges and universities, a variety of new types of teaching and research approaches stand out in each subject taught in colleges and universities. For example, in college English lectures, given the practice of individualized tiered teaching, the development of relevant teaching models for students at different levels has become a new type of teaching and research developed year by year. Based on the English classroom program, teachers should make cognizance of the tiered teaching model when teaching. This paper discusses the tiered teaching method of English teaching and carries out teaching from strategies such as paying attention to students’ tiered teaching, doing well in lecture tiered teaching, developing homework tiered teaching, and paying attention to evaluation tiered teaching. In addition, the assessment system of college English courses lags behind the development of college English teaching reform and cannot play a guiding role in teaching. In response to the above-mentioned views and problems, this paper proposes a convolutional neural network-based algorithm that provides different learning styles for different students in the stratified teaching method of college English, making capable students understand what they learn in class, improving the teaching quality of high school English courses, and, at the same time, establishing a standardized and scientific course with high reliability and validity that meets the actual situation of applied technical college students. At the same time, a standardized and scientific course assessment system with high reliability and validity has been established to meet the actual needs of applied technical college students.

Abstract:
Oral English competence is crucial for the learners’ life and potential professional success. Numerous studies on communicative language teaching were conducted; however, there is a dearth of literature on the application of CLT strategies in Chinese vocational colleges. The objective of this study was to identify CLT techniques that can improve the oral English skills of vocational college students in China. Specifically, it sought to answer the following: (1) What CLT strategies can be adapted for improving the oral proficiency of Chinese vocational college students? (2) What activities can be designed integrating adapted CLT strategies to help enhance Chinese vocational college students’ oral proficiency? The study made use of a developmental research design using systematic document analysis as the method. Findings showed that group-oriented CLT strategies like role-play, pair and group work, interviews, information gap activities, etc., and individual-oriented CLT tactics like storytelling, picture description, and opinion-sharing activities can be adapted to improve Chinese vocational college students’ oral proficiency. To help enhance Chinese vocational college students’ oral proficiency, communicative language activities that integrate these identified CLT strategies were designed as instructors’ guide in implementing CLT. Teachers are the primary change agents in educational practice, only by being more aware of what is truly going on in their classrooms can they assist students to achieve their learning goals. In the hands of a well-balanced instructor, CLT can breathe new life and enthusiasm into the classroom and truly make a difference in enhancing student’s oral proficiency.
