I was a high school principal for 11 of my 40+ years ineducation. Prior to that experience I’d worked with highschool dropouts for a dozen years in alternative educationprograms that were quite different from the traditional highschool to which I moved. When you work with students who struggle, you learn thattheir successes are real – if not newsworthy on a worldlyway. The celebrations of their successes – even if justbetween the teacher and the student – are important. Thereare high fives, hugs, hair ruffles, handshakes and any otherspontaneous celebration of that success that fits the moment. My oldest son struggled in school. He was so unrewarded forschool successes that he began to become celebrated for hisanti-school behaviors. Fortunately, there was an alternativehigh school in our school district that helped him find hisway to graduation and then through few semesters at acommunity college. Today he is a good husband, father andson. He is surrounded by loving people who he loves. He isamong the working poor yet never discourages for what hedoesn’t have. In short, he turned out to be a great success tome in all the ways that matter most.

Abstract:
Adult students often come to higher education with college-level learning that they have acquired outside of the classroom – from the workplace, military service, self-study, or hobbies. For decades, many forward-thinking colleges and universities have been offering services to evaluate that learning and award it college credit that counts towards a degree. However, for a range of reasons, not every institution can offer prior learning assessment (PLA) in every discipline or for every student. With funding from several U.S. philanthropic organizations, the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL) is launching Learning Counts, a national online service that will offer students a range of opportunities to have their learning evaluated for college credit. This online service will expand the capacity of institutions offering PLA to students and provide an efficient and scalable delivery mechanism for the awarding of credit through PLA.

Abstract: As we are familiar with pandemic situation and its effects on our life. The COVID-19 pandemic has affected people regardless of nationality, level of education, income or gender. It has affected education system. As most of education, in our country was conducted in offline mode. But due to pandemic, picture has changed. During pandemic all universities were closed. It was very difficult for student pursuing higher education to cope up with situation. Online learning or e-learning was the best outcome of this pandemic. Students are connected with teachers, mentors through online meetings. The importance of online learning came into existence. Many colleges adopted various online activities and practices. Most of existing online learning systems do not provide exchange of resources and study material between students and mentors . But the problem is that students expect online learning to be simple and could be performed at ease. So to deal with this students problem, instead of creating an application which requires download we made a website which can be easily accessed. The website of student portal we implemented makes it easy for students from college to access resources, study materials of each and every subject. Students can solve quiz which are questioned by their mentors. The most important thing is that students can share feedback on performance of mentors. The website is controlled by admin which looks after the various activities of students and mentors. Keywords: Student, Mentor, Admin, Login, Signup, Student Panel, Mentor Panel, Admin Panel

Abstract:
Purpose: This study addressed the current policy push to improve students’ college and career readiness (CCR) as manifested within the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and examined CCR policy in the state of Illinois as a case study, noting ways in which provisions for CCR programs prepare all students, including those historically underserved by higher education, to be prepared for education and employment post–high school. Research Methods: A critical analytic approach was undertaken, foregrounding equity. We conducted thematic content analysis of ESSA and Illinois policy, employing a CCR accountability paradigm. Findings: CCR-related content was contained throughout ESSA. Although content varied, themes were identified. Dual enrollment provisions were prominent in ESSA but not the Illinois’ CCR laws; however, science, technology, engineering, and mathematics was emphasized in both. ESSA introduced but did not fully clarify what constitutes a well-rounded education and did not identify particular reporting and accountability provisions, whereas two Illinois’ CCR bills focused on remedial education and the third evidenced a more comprehensive and integrated CCR approach. These findings suggest distinct federal and Illinois’ CCR visions. A more systematic equity focus was evident within ESSA. Implications for Research, Policy, and Practice: ESSA provisions providing new flexibilities to states portend wide variation in emphasis toward, and accountability for, long-standing equity issues. District officials will also likely have substantial flexibility in their administration, design, and implementation of ESSA-funded CCR programming, which may affect educational equity in ways that advantage and disadvantage. We thus provide several cautions and recommendations.

Abstract:
The competitive conditions in the market of higher education services encourage every college in Banten to be able to retain students and acquire new students every year. The decision of the prospective student in determining the college of his choice is very important for the sustainability of every college in Banten. Understanding the factors that influence the prospective student's decision is expected to increase the competitive advantage of Banten college so as to win the target market. The purpose of this study is to test the model that explains the effect of education services and reference groups on the decision of prospective students in choosing a college. In addition, this study also aims to examine the role of mediation of reference groups that mediate the influence of educational services on the decision of prospective students in choosing a college. Survey research design is used to obtain data to be analyzed using SEM with the help of AMOS software. Questionnaires were distributed to 418 students from high school and vocational schools, both public and private in Banten. The SEM estimation results indicate that Service and Reference Group directly influence the decision of prospective students in choosing a college to continue their studies. In addition, the reference group proved to mediate the influence of the Services on the Decision of the Student Candidate. Thus, the reference group has an important role for the Education Services in determining the decision of the prospective student. Marketing communications should be directed in addition to the target market itself, but also to reference groups with positioning as distinct and superior educational services.

Information literacy is a valued skill in almost every academic discipline, and increasingly valued by employers in the workforce. This point is of particular interest to librarians and faculty at community colleges, where job-ready skills and practical concepts are the priority for our students. However, reception of the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education has been lukewarm among community college librarians. Many librarians who work in community colleges believe the Framework is meant for four-year schools and research-based institutions. By closely re-examining the Framework and recognizing student needs, community college librarians can use the Framework much more effectively.

The welfare of the students and faculty plays a very significant role in any institution and in these changing times, students are more driven towards using a smartphone for every purpose. As we know that he world is at the fingertips of every users and now student can get access to any information from anywhere. So, an android application for student can be significantly helpful and this reduces the chance of visiting a library, websites and other places searching for the books, sample quizzes, study material, notices and any other information [5]. This project is an educational android application which is made for our college students and faculty members. In this project we have created two android applications i.e. CMRTC Admin and CMRTC android app. In CMRTC Admin app, only the authorized faculty members can access this admin app. The admin can modify the images, events, news, notices, quiz questions, study material and eBooks for students and can change the list of faculty members of different departments. Whereas the second app i.e. CMRTC app is only for students and other users and in this app they can get information about our college, Google maps location, notice board, gallery of the college, video lectures, study materials (eBooks, question papers, quizzes etc.) and students can download the study material, can share this app to their friends and for any feedback they can provide it in our college website. So, for the welfare of the college we have made this project.

Abstract:
Ecological civilization is the inevitable route of human development. However, the practice of ecological civilization is not as positive as expected, especially for college students. Hence, the aim of this research is to investigate how to strengthen the practice of college students towards ecological civilization in China. Based on the Triandis’ Interpersonal Behavior Model, a questionnaire survey is performed to explore the status quo of factors affecting college students’ ecological civilization behaviors. Results reveal that society does not provide enough facilities for ecological civilization. Thus, as personal interests conflicting with the environment, some college students would not carry out the concept of ecological civilization. Meanwhile, though most of college students have the right attitude and good habits of water saving and waste batteries proposal, the guidance of ecological civilization for the habits of takeout and online shopping has not been formed. Also, college students could not actively participate in ecological civilization construction. Therefore, to strengthen ecological civilization practice, it is indispensable to acquire joint efforts from individuals, government, families, universities and social organizations. The practice of ecological civilization is inseparable from the efforts of every college student. Besides, the government, every social organization, every family, and every university should create appropriate facilitating conditions, so that college students could form ecological civilization habits consciously. At the same time, universities, society and family should form good social reference standards to directly and indirectly educate college students so as to help them identify their roles and self-concept.

Abstract:
With the advent of the big data era, significant changes have taken place in every aspect of education. To effectively evaluate the academic performance of college students, this paper firstly establishes a scientific evaluation index system for student portrait. Taking the course Object-Oriented Programming as an example, the authors collected various data on the academic performance of college students. The collected data were normalized, and the weight of each evaluation index was determined through analytic hierarchy process (AHP). Next, a fuzzy evaluation model was constructed based on big data, and used to assess each dimension of college students’ academic performance. The evaluation reveals the problems of college students in learning and practice, and helps to generate the portrait of each student. The research results promote the realization of personalized education.

Abstract:
Active shooters, tornadoes, fires, floods, and power outages are concerns for every new student entering college. New students enter college with a variety of academic and nonacademic anxieties. Students express concerns of their study skills, as well as their ability to manage financial and social responsibilities, but seldom does a new student worry about personal safety or disasters. The first few minutes of an emergency can mean the difference between life and death. Candlelight vigils showing incredible sorrow among college students may become more frequent as active shooter incidents continue to increase in frequency and will undoubtedly occur again. The question is: What do new students need to know about emergency preparedness and how do you inform them? Information overload combined with new student mindset of invincibility makes emergency preparedness a tough topic to communicate effectively to new students. University officials owe it to new students to try.

Abstract:
With rising and wide spread expectations that commu-nity colleges will become stronger forces throughout the nation, the stage is now set for these institutions to become even bigger players in the landscape of higher education, economic development and social justice by helping to create a more inclusive, well-educated and engaged citizenry. This article looks inward at what com-munity college leaders, faculty and student services pro-fessionals need to do to transform their institutions into colleges that are truly ready to meet these rapidly grow-ing expectations and to be able to take full advantage of these new opportunities. Four key areas at the institution-al level are discussed that must be addressed in order for community colleges to make substantial and necessary improvements in student learning and development. These include: (1) expanding the definition and under-standing of what leads to student learning and success; (2) realigning and tightly coupling every function and activity at the college to better support student learning and success; (3) confronting the myth that community colleges are innovative and flexible institutions; and (4) instituting a new kind of leadership that is focused firmly on improving student learning and success. There are enormous opportunities waiting for community colleges that will require dramatic transformation and change throughout the organization.

Understanding the interests and needs of online health education for college students, exploring the concepts, procedures, models, and approaches of health plans, learning about mental health online, and developing a comprehensive online mental health education plan for as many college students as possible are always very popular. Based on the development and support of online mental health education for students, from the perspectives of teachers and college students, this paper investigates online mental health education for college students in a city, combined with data interviews and Delphi routes; through electronic questionnaires, 900 college students and 30 students were selected by faculty members to conduct an investigation. With descriptive statistics, reliability and availability, chi-square tests, and other options, this paper examines data on student Internet usage and current status and we have the Psychiatry Network. The results show that 91.75% of college students study online every day and 61.72% spend more than 4 hours online every day. Satisfaction with the Internet has a certain impact on the online application and use of the health college education. Students’ online motivations and behaviors are multicultural. In order to build a mental health education network, educators believe that the primary goal should be to improve the mental health of college students.

Abstract:
Although community colleges are important entry points into higher education for many American students, few studies have investigated how community college students engage with different genres or develop genre knowledge. Even fewer have connected students’ genre knowledge to their academic performance. The present article discusses how 104 ethnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse students reported on classroom genre experiences and wrote stories about college across three narrative genres (Letter, Best Experience, Worst Experience). Findings suggest that students’ engagement with classroom genres in community college helped them develop rhetorical reading and writing skills. When students wrote about their college lives across narrative genres, they reflected on higher education in varied ways to achieve differing sociocultural goals with distinct audiences. Finally, students’ experience with classroom and narrative genres predicted their GPA, implying that students’ genre knowledge signals and influences their academic success. These findings demonstrate how diverse students attending community college can use genres as resources to further their social and academic development.

The rapid development in the field of communications and growing numbers of the population every year stimulate telecommunications companies to develop communications systems to accommodate all users. In this paper, we will study the blockage effect of the student body on the propagation of the signals in the external wireless network. We took various numbers of the student density on the campus to know the extent it affects especially in crowded environments. The student body structure and buildings are designed in the college according to the real dimensions by Wireless InSite software. We compared scenarios for the different numbers of student density, we noticed that whenever an increase in the student density in the college will lead to increased path loss and delay spread time. In addition, note there is a gradual decrease in the received power (RP) if there is no student density highest RP is -28.2 dBm, when there are 300 students highest RP is -34.7 dBm, and when there are 600 students highest RP is -36.5 dBm. The reasons are that signals path spread inside the college will be passing through several collisions whether student body blockage or buildings that are built from different materials.

Abstract:
With the arrival of graduation season, the number of graduates is expanding every year, and the employment rate of college students has become one of the data that colleges and universities pay attention to. To improve the employment rate of college students, we should first educate each college student in career planning, so that they can clearly understand their own positioning and future development direction. Career planning can guide students to understand their jobs and analyze their professional fields. Faced with massive employment information, it is also a big problem for college students to search and choose information. In this paper, the personalized recommendation system for entrepreneurship is described, and the basic principles of information recommendation are described. The basic information and personal interest points of college students are represented by feature vectors, which provide a favorable theoretical support for college students’ career planning and employment and entrepreneurship information recommendation. An information recommendation model under deep learning is formed. Finally, the performance of the model under the traditional algorithm and the optimized information recommendation model is evaluated, and the satisfaction of users to this system is scored so as to provide a convenient and quick information recommendation system for college students, thus indirectly improving the employment rate of graduates and providing corresponding solutions to the problem of difficult employment.

Abstract:
Prediction tasks about students have practical significance for both student and college. Making multiple predictions about students is an important part of a smart campus. For instance, predicting whether a student will fail to graduate can alert the student affairs office to take predictive measures to help the student improve his/her academic performance. With the development of information technology in colleges, we can collect digital footprints that encode heterogeneous behaviors continuously. In this article, we focus on modeling heterogeneous behaviors and making multiple predictions together, since some prediction tasks are related and learning the model for a specific task may have the data sparsity problem. To this end, we propose a variant of Long-Short Term Memory (LSTM) and a soft-attention mechanism. The proposed LSTM is able to learn the student profile-aware representation from heterogeneous behavior sequences. The proposed soft-attention mechanism can dynamically learn different importance degrees of different days for every student. In this way, heterogeneous behaviors can be well modeled. In order to model interactions among multiple prediction tasks, we propose a co-attention mechanism based unit. With the help of the stacked units, we can explicitly control the knowledge transfer among multiple tasks. We design three motivating behavior prediction tasks based on a real-world dataset collected from a college. Qualitative and quantitative experiments on the three prediction tasks have demonstrated the effectiveness of our model.

We propose novel approaches to estimating student preferences with data from matching mechanisms, especially the Gale-Shapley deferred acceptance. Even if the mechanism is strategy-proof, assuming that students truthfully rank schools in applications may be restrictive. We show that when students are ranked strictly by some ex ante known priority index (e.g., test scores), stability is a plausible and weaker assumption, implying that every student is matched with her favorite school/college among those she qualifies for ex post. The methods are illustrated in simulations and applied to school choice in Paris. We discuss when each approach is more appropriate in real-life settings. (JEL D11, D12, D82, I23)

We analyzed 52 plans (50 states, DC, Puerto Rico) using frameworks developed by Cook-Harvey, Darling-Hammond, Lam, Mercer, and Roc (2016) and Dowd and Bensimon (2015). Findings disclose significant variation, with CCR featuring prominently in some plans and receiving cursory mention in others. Most states identified CCR components as part of their school quality or student success indicators but few used ESSA to restructure their state initiatives to address persistent inequities. Even states making CCR a central feature typically applied color-blind approaches, addressing CCR for all students rather than developing CCR plans to address inequitable outcomes for student subgroups.

This paper examines the effects of requiring and paying for all public high school students to take a college entrance exam, a policy adopted by eleven states since 2001. I show that prior to the policy, for every ten poor students who score college-ready on the ACT or SAT, there are an additional five poor students who would score college-ready but who take neither exam. I use a difference-in-differences strategy to estimate the effects of the policy on postsecondary attainment and find small increases in enrollment at four-year institutions. The effects are concentrated among students less likely to take a college entrance exam in the absence of the policy and students in the poorest high schools. The students induced by the policy to enroll persist through college at approximately the same rate as their inframarginal peers. I calculate that the policy is more cost-effective than traditional student aid at boosting postsecondary attainment.

Abstract:
Every year, academic institutions invest considerable effort and substantial resources to influence, predict and understand the decision-making choices of applicants who have been offered admission. In this study, we applied several supervised machine learning techniques to four years of data on 11,001 students, each with 35 associated features, admitted to a small liberal arts college in California to predict student college commitment decisions. By treating the question of whether a student offered admission will accept it as a binary classification problem, we implemented a number of different classifiers and then evaluated the performance of these algorithms using the metrics of accuracy, precision, recall, F-measure and area under the receiver operator curve. The results from this study indicate that the logistic regression classifier performed best in modeling the student college commitment decision problem, i.e., predicting whether a student will accept an admission offer, with an AUC score of 79.6%. The significance of this research is that it demonstrates that many institutions could use machine learning algorithms to improve the accuracy of their estimates of entering class sizes, thus allowing more optimal allocation of resources and better control over net tuition revenue.

Abstract:
A group of university teachers have worked to organize and host an annual performance festival for 20 years. About a hundred students from several universities gather and perform a variety of oral activities every year. Students engage with everything from everyday events to long-standing global issues through drama, and thus this festival is a unique educational experience. Touching on the current status of EFL (English as Foreign Language) within Japanese Universities, this paper aims to discuss the significance of the festival through briefly describing some sample performances and their process of preparation. While the festival is not in any way competitive, both students and teachers attending are expected to provide some form of feedback to every performance viewed. Expressing themselves at the festival is especially meaningful in the context of EFL, where no immediate need to use the language in their daily life exists for the typical Japanese student. Additionally, participants are likely to gain a sense of achievement and confidence through the process and encouraging response at the festival. Finally, students learn to collaborate efficiently and build leadership skills. Challenges in terms of preparation and management of the festival are also discussed in this paper.
