Cheriguene, Rachid. "Etude numérique des phénomènes de contact en usinage." Thesis, Metz, 2009. http://www.theses.fr/2009METZ041S/document.
Full textThis doctoral thesis is focused on the study of the process of machining by means of the numerical tool for calculation by Finite Element Method (FEM). Concretely, it is a question of studying the thermomechanical phenomena which take place, during an operation of material removal, at the interface and that control the type of contact between the tool and the chip. for that, a numerical model of orthogonal cutting under the ALE formulation (Arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian) was developed with the code Abaqus/Explicit. Several parametric studies were carried out to uncouple the effects of the local variables, on the macroscopic results (forces...), as in the interface (temperature...). The numerical results show that in fact the combined effects of the type of the implemented friction model at the interface, both with the thermal softening of the material, condition the appearence of the sticking contact, and consequently, govern the tool/chip contact type. Two new models of variable friction with to velocity are proposed, to improve the definition of friction in the interface. Finally, the validity of the numerical model is checked by observing a good correlation between the obtained numerical forces, and the experimental cutting forces obtained for same material and under the same cutting conditions

Full textThe aim of this study is to establish a correlation between the sensorial perception of the tackiness of the silicone elastomers and the physical and mechanical properties of their surface. A set of silicones, more or less tacky, has been made in our laboratory in order to control the process of realization and to obtain samples with steady and " distinct properties. A physicochemical characterization bas been realized with infrared spectroscopy and droplet tests. Sensorial analysis bas been realized with an appropriated developed protocol. This sensorial analysis is composed of two different tests: a descriptive test (test of comparison) and a discriminative one (test of quantification). One group of naïve people and one of experts have done the two sensorial tests. The resulting data are analyzed with classical statistic tools used in sensorial analysis (Friedman test, average notation). This analysis allows samples classification and allows to enlighten the importance of mechanical properties such as the Young' s modulus in the touch sensation. The quantification of the tackiness and the mechanical properties need the development and the realization of a dedicated sensorial metrology device. This apparatus allows to make instrumented indentation and to reproduce tactile movement. The influence of experimental conditions and parameters, and the punch nature bas been studied. The resulting data allow to establish a correlation between sensorial analysis and the measured mechanical properties. We show that the adhesion force is not a sufficient parameter to qualify material tackiness; some experimental parameters (such as the unloading velocity or the indenter geometry) have great influence on the results

Full textIn dry machining, the thermomechanical process of chip formation, the tool wear and the surface integrity depend strongly on the tribological conditions along the tool rake face. Besides, the friction conditions at the tool-chip interface and along the round cutting edge are very complex. It should be noted that to understand the friction effects in machining, we have to analyse the inherent relationship among, the cutting conditions (cutting and feed velocities, tool geometry), the workpiece material behaviour, the thermomechanical characteristics of the tool material, the frictional heat partition in the sliding zone and the friction conditions at the tool-chip and tool-workpiece interfaces. Due to the problem complexity, it appears that despite many works on machining, the understanding of the effect of friction conditions requires further investigations. In the present work, to identify the interaction between the thermomechanical phenomena at the tool-chip interface and the material flow in the primary shear zone; an analytical model has been coupled with a finite element approach. For the tool rake face, a new pressure model was developed. The transient nonlinear thermal problem in the workpiece-tool-chip system has been solved by using a FE model based on the Petrov-Galerkin formulation. The coupling between the primary shear zone (PSZ) (chip formation), the secondary shear zone (SSZ) (sticking zone) and the frictional heat at the sliding zone has been taking into account. The model allows to determine in a fast and simple way several significant machining parameters as: (i) the cutting forces, (ii) the temperature distribution in the tool-chip-workpiece system, (iii) the heat flux from the PSZ to the workpiece, (iv) the tool-chip contact length, (v) the frictional heat partition and (vi) the apparent friction coefficient. The proposed model allows to analyze different industrial machining processes such as drilling and milling

Full textHydrophilic wafer bonding allows to put in contact two surfaces and to lead, after annealing treatment, to the creation of hydrogen bonds and covalent bonds through the interface. This process is more and more used in microtechnologies and microelectronics, particularly to get SOI structures. The objective of this study was to find the conditions allowing to control the bonding energy of the obtained structures, that is to say either to increase the bonding energy (low temperature applications), either to decrease the bonding energy (high temperature applications). In this way, some characterisation methods have been developed in order to well-understand the physical, chemical and mechanical properties of the bonded structures. Various surface treatments (wet treatments and dry treatments) and various layers (dielectric layers and conductive layers) have been used. We observed the influence of surface microroughness for the SiO2/SiO2 structures too. The increase of the surface microroughness value of each SiO2 surface up to 0. 63 nm RMS allowed to decrease the bonding energy at 1100ºC from 2. 1 J. M-2 to 0. 4 J. M-2. With these results, some tools have been realised to debond the obtained structures. These tools allowed to debond thin wafers (100 μrn) processed on their two sides. Only 2/3 of a 100 mm wafer surface has been debonded. Some improvements have to be brought for arriving at the total debonding of 100 mm and 150 mm wafers surfaces. So, this study highlights a possible diversification of the wafer bonding

Full textIn our study the texture of a set of model processed cheeses is characterized through both sensory and instrumental approaches. Three objectives guided our work. The first was using an individual approach that takes the diversity in terms of perception, manipulation and description into account for sensory characterization of products. Furthermore, to study the effect of prior expertise, two panels evaluated the products: consumer and expert panel. A combined approach with two different methodologies and verbalization (Free comment followed by Flash Profile) made it possible to identify specificities in the answer behavior between the two panels. Free comment showed the similarity and differences between the terminologies of two panels. It showed that experts generate more terms in average than consumers. However, some of their terms are specific and never was cited to consumers. Flash profile showed that there are some characteristics that become important once the assessors evaluate the products simultaneously. The result showed important differences between the resulted product maps from consumers and experts after free comment method. However, the resulted sensory maps after the Flash Profile were very similar for both panels and were close to the sensory map obtained for consumer panel after free comment. Some specific attributes were frequently cited for products evaluations in two applied methods, such as “Collant (Stickiness)”.The second objective was to establish the instrumental characterization on the basis of sensory results in order to better determine some efficient methodologies and conditions to characterize the identified perceptions. We thus used sensory descriptions and observations to choose appropriate instrumental methods. On this basis, classic rheological methods (measurement of the viscoelastic properties and penetrometry) and adapted tack method were used for product characterization. Furthermore, the products were characterized at two physical states (without or after a mechanical treatment). The adapted tack method and the rheology at small deformation with vane geometry permitted to characterize the products set with important texture diversity (solid, semi-solid, liquid). The results showed that the combination of two methods improves the product map and brings new axes of description. The instrumental characterization of mechanically treated products did not lead to a rather different products configuration. The third objective was to predict the sensory positioning of products (product map) as well as the specific multidimensional perception “Collant (Stickiness)”, by instrumental measurements. A rather satisfactory prediction of consumer perception of texture was obtained through viscoelastic measurements (storage module and yield stress) and parameters stemming from tack measurement (total energy and distance at maximum tensile force). Furthermore, the sensory perceptions relative to “Collant (Stickiness)” is well predicted by the instrumental parameter “yield stress” for the majority of the consumers who applied this term in their evaluations

"The accumulation of overlapping traces from successive periods, each trace modifying and being modified by the new additions to produce something like a collage of time” är vad Kevin Lynch skriver i hans bok What time is this place. Kärnan i projektet har varit att lämna spår från vår tid i ett historiskt kontext och samtidigt stärka komplexitet och kontrasten. Målsättningen i projektet har varit att åstadkomma en intressant arkitektonisk helhet.

Full textDirect bonding is a process by which two sufficiently flat and clean surfaces can bond to each other without any added adhesive layer. Direct bonding of patterned surfaces is often used for the fabrication of Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS), where a silicon wafer with cavities is bonded to a plain wafer. The fabrication of these devices is expensive and it would be useful to have guidelines when designing knew devices to know in advance if direct bonding will be possible.A 2D simulation model of the direct bonding of two substrates is developed and usedto study the influence of the cavities on the bonding wave velocity. The prediction of the simulation run with Comsol® are in good coherence with the experimental measures and a 2D law of the bonding velocity is obtained. The bonding of perfectly flat wafers with cavities should always be possible. Limitations to the bonding of real wafers are due to the elastic energy cost of deforming the non perfectly flat wafers. This limit is reached easily when the bonding wave must cross a trench, so a design with a small bonding guide to help cross the cavity will work best. The width of this wave guide should be chosen by considering the bow of the wafer. Indeed the second important design rule is to keep a bonding area big enough to have more adhesion energy than the elastic energy cost due to non flat wafers deformation. The adhesion energy is an important parameter of the direct bonding, as it is theenergy that drives the adhesion. This adhesion energy is different from the more widely known bonding energy which is the energy needed to separate two previously bonded wafers. In this work a simple method to measure the adhesion is proposed. Long time measurement of the evolution of the adhesion energy lead us to propose a mechanism for its evolution linked to the formation of capillary bridges between rough surfaces

Full textBernard Collin was born in Paris, France, in 1927. This thesis - the first to be devoted to Bernard Collin - comprises a bibliography of the poet's work and the critical reviews it has received. The first part deals with the entire opus, with the exception of Perpétuel voyez Physique, which is addressed in the second part. I present and analyse the author's literary situation, themes and poetic art. It is important to emphasise the wealth of Collin's work, which is entirely new and totally practical. The writer's intention is not to create another world but, using cadence and rhetoric, to reach this world and to capture it as never before. The reader becomes a part of Collin's "radiant earth" and is totally sensitive to it

Full textThis study suggests the discussion of contemporary architecture and its correlation with fine arts within a specific approach of aesthetics due to the collage poetic that invades the artistic universe since its discovery in Cubism until the most several manifestations of contemporary art. In the architecture, the expression of poetic collage takes place in those buildings whose character is result of sum parts and values that contribute for the formation of an architecture body that is far conceptually from the ones with clear character unitarist. The verification of transposition of fundamental principles that define the work of art of collage to architecture through the analysis of modern and contemporary works allows approximate these different cultural events and provides some justification for negligence with this architecture is treated by criticism, that happens with collage in the fine arts, being regarded as hybrid works and therefore marginal.

Full textThe subject of the thesis originates in the discovery of a pattern in Collins’ theory of interaction rituals. The pattern indicates that several important ideas and concepts in Collins’ theory can be conceived as individuals’ experiences of similarity. Based upon the discovery of this pattern, the aim of the thesis is to develop the basic features of a new theory that explains interaction rituals by centering upon individuals’ experiences of similarity. In order to accomplish the aim, the essay discusses four aspects of interaction rituals. In connection to the first aspect, an explanation is presented that reveals why individuals who experience similarity give each other support in their interaction rituals. Discussing the second aspect, the concept of effervescence of similarity is presented, which explains why experiences of similarity are crucial for generating emotional energy in interaction rituals. When developing the third aspect, a complete description of similarity theory is presented. Similarity theory explains interaction rituals by referring to individuals’ experiences of similarity. Finally, in the discussion of the fourth aspect, similarity theory is tested against empirical research. The concluding sections argue for ways in which similarity theory may contribute considerably to the understanding of interaction rituals. Also, suggestions for further research are presented.

Full textIt is very challenging to achieve strong adhesion between two soft and wet materials like hydrogels. Recently Leibler and his collaborators invented a new concept to assemble hydrogels or biological tissues using nanoparticles. The principle relies on the adsorption of gel chains at the surface of nanoparticles, which act as connectors, and on the ability of the adsorbed gel chains to reorganize under stress. The main objective of this work is to identify and control the physical mechanisms fundamental to gel adhesion by silica nanoparticles. Many questions are investigated: the nature of the nanoparticles (size, surface chemistry, concentration, state of dispersion), the gel structure and its state of swelling, the distribution of the nanoparticles at the gel surface. Experiments are conducted using several types of gels: Poly(N,N dimethylacrylamide) (PDMA), Poly(acrylamide) (PAAm), nanocomposite gels (PDMA reinforces with silica nanoparticles), or double-network (DN) gels. We quantify the adhesive properties using lap-shear experiments, peeling tests at 90°, and Y-peeling tests that we developed. We use ATR-FTIR experiments, confocal microscopy and scanning electron microscopy to demonstrate the adsorption of polymers onto the silica nanoparticles and characterize their spatial repartition. The results allow us to propose a mechanism explaining the adhesion and to define conditions for optimal adhesion
