Досліджено технологічну ефективність комплексної поверхнево-активної добавки "MasterКерам" при її використанні у виробництві стінової кераміки для покращення властивостей керамічних мас і матеріалів. Встановлено водоредуційний ефект добавки та її позитивний вплив на міцність коагуляційної та конденсаційної структури мас. Визначена оптимальна кількість добавки, рекомендована для використання у виробництві стінової кераміки рядового призначення.<br>The technological efficiency of complex surface-active additive "MasterCeram" using to improve the properties of ceramic masses and materials in the manufacture of wall ceramics is investigated. The water-reducing effect of the additive and its positive influence on the strength of the coagulation and condensation structure of ceramic masses are established. The optimal amount of additive, which recommended for use in the manufacture of terraced wall ceramic, are established.

Mesurer l'opacite d'un milieu gazeux charge en particules, comme des fumees, revient a mesurer l'attenuation que subissent les rayonnements qui le traversent. Toutefois, le principal parametre influencant le parametre d'extinction etant la concentration en particules de suie, il apparait necessaire de definir une grandeur de base (aire specifique d'extinction) liant le coefficient d'extinction a la vitesse de combustion du combustible considere et aux conditions aerauliques par l'intermediaire du debit de fumee. Les combustibles etudies sont, un hydrocarbure d'usage courant (fioul domestique), et des huiles et materiaux de gainage de cables electriques recenses sensibles dans les centrales nucleaires exploitees par edf (organisme partenaire de cette etude). L'influence de la longueur d'onde sur les proprietes d'extinction (coefficient ou aire specifique) est etudiee et les lois de variation, en fonction de ce parametre, sont etablies. Ces lois font ensuite l'objet, apres determination experimentale de la distribution de taille des particules et une recherche detaillee sur le choix des indices optiques, d'une comparaison theorie-experience a partir du calcul des efficacites energetiques d'extinction sur la base des elements de la theorie de mie. Le caractere conservatif de la grandeur aire specifique d'extinction est egalement mis en evidence, en fonction de l'intensite de la combustion et de la dilution des fumees. On procede aussi a une determination indirecte de la taille et de la concentration en particules a partir des mesures realisees a plusieurs longueurs d'onde. Les perspectives d'application a un modele d'analyse d'incendie en compartiment developpe par edf sont ensuite envisagees. Dans ce but, il est procede a la determination d'un parametre d'extinction moyenne sur tout le spectre thermiquement utile. L'ensemble de ce travail permet de tirer un certain nombre d'enseignements sur les aptitudes des differents combustibles consideres a generer des fumees et sur leur potentialite en matiere de rayonnement. Cependant, il conduit parallelement a formuler certaines limites quant a l'exploitation des mesures realisees, que ce soit dans des conditions de ventilation insuffisante des foyers, ou dans des conditions d'evolution granulometrique des particules dans la phase de transport (condensation de vapeurs ou coagulation)

Il est probable qu'à terme les émissions de nanoparticules soient réglementées et ce sont donc les concentrations en nombre qui seront considérées. Il convient donc d'adapter les modèles afin de pouvoir simuler correctement les concentrations en nombre, dans les ambiances confinées comme dans l'atmosphère. Un modèle de dynamique des particules capable de suivre avec autant de précision la concentration en nombre que la concentration en masse, avec un temps de calcul optimal, a été développé. La dynamique des particules dépend de divers processus, les plus importants étant la condensation/évaporation, suivie par la nucléation, la coagulation, et les phénomènes de dépôts. Ces processus sont bien connus pour les particules fines et grossières, mais dans le cas des nanoparticules, certains phénomènes additionnels doivent être pris en compte, notamment l'effet Kelvin pour la condensation/ évaporation et les forces de van der Waals pour la coagulation. Le travail a tout d'abord porté sur le processus de condensation/évaporation, qui s'avère être le plus compliqué numériquement. Les particules sont présumées sphériques. L'effet Kelvin est pris en compte car il devient considérable pour les particules de diamètre inférieur à 50 nm. Les schémas numériques utilisés reposent sur une approche sectionnelle : l'échelle granulométrique des particules est discrétisée en sections, caractérisées par un diamètre représentatif. Un algorithme de répartition des particules est utilisé, après condensation/évaporation, afin de conserver les diamètres représentatifs à l'intérieur de leurs sections respectives. Cette redistribution peut se faire en terme de masse ou de nombre. Un des points clé de l'algorithme est de savoir quelle quantité, de la masse ou du nombre, doit être redistribuée. Une approche hybride consistant à répartir la quantité dominante dans la section de taille considérée (le nombre pour les nanoparticules et la masse pour les particules fines et grossières) a été mise en place et a permis d'obtenir une amélioration de la précision du modèle par rapport aux algorithmes existants, pour un large choix de conditions. Le processus de coagulation pour les nanoparticules a aussi été résolu avec une approche sectionnelle. La coagulation est régie par le mouvement brownien des nanoparticules. Pour cette approche, il a été constaté qu'il est plus efficace de calculer le noyau de coagulation en utilisant le diamètre représentatif de la section plutôt que de l'intégrer sur la section entière. Les simulations ont aussi pu montrer que les interactions de van der Waals amplifient fortement le taux de coagulation pour les nanoparticules. La nucléation a été intégrée au modèle nouvellement développé en incorporant un terme source de nanoparticules dans la première section, commençant à un nanomètre. La formulation de ce taux de nucléation correspond à celle de l'acide sulfurique mais le traitement des interactions numériques entre nucléation, coagulation et condensation/évaporation est générique. Différentes stratégies de couplage visant à résoudre séparément ou en même temps les trois processus sont discutées. Afin de pouvoir proposer des recommandations, différentes méthodes numériques de couplage ont été développées puis évaluées par rapport au temps de calcul et à la précision obtenue en terme de concentration massique et numérique

The flexibility of the floor slabs is quite often ignored in the seismic analysis of structures. In general, the rigid behavior assumption is appropriate to describe the in-plane response of floors. For seismic excitations with vertical components, however, the flexibility of the floor slabs in the out-of-plane direction may play a significant role and it can result in an increase in the seismic response. The simplified procedures used in the current practice to include the floor flexibility can lead to highly conservative estimates of the slab and supported equipment response. To include floor flexibility, a detailed finite element model of the structure can be constructed, but this procedure leads to a system with large degrees of freedom the solution of which can be time consuming and impractical. In this study, a new dynamic condensation approach is developed and proposed to reduce the size of the problem and to calculate the seismic response of structures with flexible floor slabs. Unlike other currently available dynamic condensation techniques, this approach is applicable to classically as well as nonclassically damped structures. The approach is also applicable to structures divided into substructures. The approach can be used to calculate as many lower eigenproperties as one desires. The remaining higher modal properties can also be obtained, if desired, by solving a complementary eigenvalue problem associated with the higher modes. The accuracy of the calculated eigenproperties can be increased to any desired level by iteratively solving a condensed and improved eigenvalue problem. Almost exact eigenproperties can be obtained in just a few iterative cycles. Numerical examples demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed approach for calculating eigenproperties are presented. To calculate the seismic response, first the proposed dynamic condensation approach is utilized to calculate the eigenproperties of the structure accurately. These eigenproperties are then used to calculate the seismic response for random inputs such as a spectral density function or inputs defined in terms of design response spectra. Herein, this method is used to investigate the influence of the out-of-plane flexibility of the floor slabs on the response of primary and secondary systems subjected to vertical ground motions. The calculated results clearly show that inclusion of the floor flexibility in the analytical model increases the design response significantly, especially when computing acceleration floor response spectra. This has special relevance for secondary systems and equipment the design of which are based on the floor response spectra. The accuracy of the results predicted by two of the most popular methods used in practice to consider the floor flexibility effects, namely the cascade approach and the modified lumped mass method, is also investigated. The numerical results show that the cascade approach overestimates the seismic response, whereas the modified lumped mass method underestimates the response. Both methods can introduce significant errors in the response especially when computing accelerations and floor response spectra. For seismic design of secondary systems supported on flexible slabs, the use of the proposed condensation approach is thus advocated.<br>Ph. D.

Cette thèse est dédiée à l'interprétation théorique des expériences sur les gaz froids des excitons indirects dans des nanostructures semi-conductrices. La théorie proposée explique la formation de l'état des excitons macroscopiquement ordonnés ("MOES") et des taches lumineuses localisées dans les images de photoluminescence des excitons. Dans la première partie je montrerai que la séparation macroscopique de charge induite par laser mène à l'apparition d'un champ électrique situé dans le plan de la structure. A cause de ce champ les états quantiques 1s et 2p de l'exciton se croisent et son moment dipolaire s'incline. Par conséquent, l'exciton va se localiser à la frontière entre les deux domaines d'une charge différente, où le champ électrique est le plus fort. Ensuite, j'étudierai un gaz d'excitons mis dans de tels pièges bidimensionnels en négligeant sa structure de spin. J'analyserai la possibilité de la condensation de Bose-Einstein dans le système considéré en utilisant les méthodes puissantes de la théorie à N-corps développées pour des gaz atomiques. En me basant sur le Hamiltonien pour un segment du cercle bidimensionnel ("2D cigar"), je montrerai que la dispersion cohérente des excitons mène à l'autolocalisation accompagnée par une modulation périodique de la densité. L'idée principale de la théorie est, ensuite, de modéliser cet état périodique par une chaîne de condensats piégés (Le Modèle de Chaîne). Un tel modèle permettra de dire que le système peut exhiber la transition de phase de second ordre pour certaines valeurs du paramètre qui caractérise les interactions. La valeur critique de ce paramètre peut être trouvée en analysant le comportement des fluctuations de phase à la température nulle. Le nombre de condensats dans le régime où les interactions sont fortes est déterminé par la balance entre les contributions de l'énergie cinétique est l'entropie dans l'énergie libre du système. Le Modèle de Chaîne permettra aussi de révéler l'invariance d''échelle et l'universalité du phénomène. J'obtiendrai l'expression pour la température unique de la transition de phase dans le système excitonique et discuterai l'effet de désordre. Je finirai par une discussion du rôle des interactions à N-corps et des effets de spin dans la condensation de Bose-Einstein des excitons. Je proposerai un modèle de gaz idéal pour décrire les textures de polarisation linéaire observées autour de chaque tache lumineuse et chaque fragment de MOES. Selon ce modèle, le domaine central incohérent de tous ces objets est composé d'une glace excitonique quantique<br>The present Thesis is devoted to theoretical interpretation of intriguing observations made recently in cold gases of indirect excitons in semiconductor quantum wells. The proposed theory provides simple intuitive explanation for the basic phenomenology of the macroscopically ordered exciton state (MOES) and the localized bright spots (LBS) in the exciton photoluminescense pattern. The Thesis is organized as follows.First, we provide an important insight into the formation process of the external ring and LBS. We show that the macroscopic charge separation induced by the photoexcitation results in appearance of an in-plane electric field in the vicinity of the boundary. The field hybridizes 1s and 2p quantum states of an indirect exciton, effectively tilting its dipole moment. Thus polarized exciton seeks for the regions with higher in-plane electric field and, hence, becomes localized at the ring-shaped boundary.As a next step, we consider a gas of spinless dipolar bosons put in such two-dimensional (2D) traps. We analyze the possibility for occurence of Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC) in the system under consideration by means of the powerful many-body theoretical methods developed for ultracold atomic gases. Starting from the Hamiltonian for a segment of the ring (2D cigar) we show, howthe coherent scattering of excitons can result in autolocalization accompanied by a buildup of the diagonal long-range order. The crucial point of the theory then consists in replacement of the periodic coherent state by a chain of harmonically trapped condensates (Chain Model). We argue, that for sufficiently strong contact interaction between the excitons the system can exhibit the true second order phase transistion at finite temperature. The critical value of the interaction parameter can be found by analyzing the behaviour of the quantum phase fluctuations at zero temperature. The number of condensates at the ring in the strongly interacting regime is defined by the balance between the kinetic energy and the entropy terms in the free energy of the system.Futhermore, the use of the Chain Model of the MOES allows one to reveal scale invariance and universality of the pnenomenon. We obtain the expression for the unique critical temperature of the second order phase transition in the exciton system and discuss the effect of disorder.Finally, we comment on the role of many-body interactions and spin degrees of freedom in excitonic BEC. We suggest that each bead (or, equivalently, LBS) has the internal structure: it consists of a solid core (Quantum Exciton Iceberg) surrounded by a coherent exciton fluid. We develop an ideal gas model for the coherent four-component exciton fluid which allows one to explain the measured linear polarization patterns

Une nouvelle voie d'accès à des aldéhydes et cétones terpéniques est décrite. Elle est basée sur l'addition électrophile d'alcools allyliques, en présence d'acide, sur des éthers de diénol delta-substitués ou non par un hétéroatome. La synthèse d'éthers de diénol à squelette du prénal portant un substituant en position vinylique ou allylique a été décrite par action d'une base forte sur les acétals alpha, bêta-éthyléniques correspondants, de bons rendements et une très bonne régiosélectivité ont été obtenus. La condensation de ces éthers de diénol sur le carbocation issu d'alcools allyliques permet l'accès au rétinal et à la phytone. Une réaction de métallation en alpha de la fonction éther d'énol a été observée. Une étude portant sur les paramètres influençant la réaction, ainsi que sur l'espèce intermédiaire a permis d'apporter des éléments sur la structure intime des super-bases. L'accès à des éthers de diénol alpha, delta-difonctionnalisés est ainsi réalisée avec de bons rendements.

A première vue un aubage apparait comme une structure à symétrie cyclique parfaite ; cependant, dans la pratique, des petites variations, appelées désaccordement, existent toujours entre les différents secteurs qui composent la structure. L’expérience montre que ces désaccordements peuvent produire des modifications importantes sur la réponse vibratoire du système, en particulier en faisant apparaitre des modes localisées. Leur prise en compte dans les modélisations numériques est donc essentielle. Pourtant, compte tenu des tailles des modèles numériques des aubages et du caractère incertain du désaccordement, qui oblige à réaliser un grand nombre de simulations, l’utilisation de modèles réduits s’impose. Ce travail présente la formulation, la validation et la discussion d’une méthode qui permet d’obtenir un modèle réduit de tout l’aubage admettant la prise en compte du désaccordement. La méthode est basée sur une application de la méthode de synthèse modale en formulation Craig et Bampton, adaptée au cas des structures à symétrie cyclique. La prise en compte du désaccordement se fait par modification des rigidités modales des ailettes encastrées. Afin de valider la méthode, celle-ci a été appliquée à l’étude de cinq modèles simulant des aubages de turbines aéronautiques et de turbines pour la production d’électricité avec différents degrés de liaison au niveau des nageoires des ailettes. L’étude réalisée comprend le calcul des fréquences et modes propres, et de la réponse forcée, ainsi qu’un calcul statistique sur les maxima des réponses des aubages désaccordés. Les résultats obtenus montrent la validité de l’approche proposée et ses limitations. Enfin, une méthode qui permet d’estimer le désaccordement présent dans un aubage, à partir de mesures expérimentales, a également été formulée. Cette méthode, qui exploite les caractéristiques des modèles formulés dans la première partie, est limitée au cas où les ailettes répondent sous une déformée de flexion simple.

The bottleneck problem of cloud droplet growth is one of the most challenging problems in cloud physics. Cloud droplet growth is neither dominated by con-densation nor gravitational collision in the size range of 15–40 μm in radius. Turbulence-generated collision has been thought to be the mechanism to bridge the size gap, i.e., the bottleneck problem. This study develops the numerical approaches to study droplet growth in atmospheric turbulence and investigates the turbulence effect on cloud droplet growth. The collision process of in-ertial particles in turbulence is strongly nonlinear, which motivates the study of two distinct numerical schemes. An Eulerian-based numerical formulation for the Smoluchowski equation in multi-dimensions and a Monte Carlo-type Lagrangian scheme have been developed to study the combined collision and condensation processes. We first investigate the accuracy and reliability of the two schemes in a purely gravitational field and then in a straining flow. Discrepancies between different schemes are most strongly exposed when con-densation and coagulation are studied separately, while their combined effects tend to result in smaller discrepancies. We find that for pure collision simulated by the Eulerian scheme, the mean particle radius slows down using finer massbins, especially for collisions caused by different terminal velocities. For the case of Lagrangian scheme, it is independent of grid resolution at early times and weakly dependent at later times. Comparing the size spectra simulated by the two schemes, we find that the agreement is excellent at early times. For pure condensation, we find that the numerical solution of condensation by the Lagrangian model is consistent with the analytical solution in early times. The Lagrangian schemes are generally found to be superior over the Eulerian one interms of computational performance. Moreover, the growth of cloud droplets in a turbulent environment is investigated as well. The agreement between the two schemes is excellent for both mean radius and size spectra, which gives us further insights into the accuracy of solving this strongly coupled nonlinear system. Turbulence broadens the size spectra of cloud droplets with increasing Reynolds number.

L'activité volcanique peut représenter une source naturelle de pollution atmosphérique. Cette pollution peut engendrer une dégradation de la qualité de l'air, affecter la santé humaine et perturber la sécurité aérienne. Le Piton de la Fournaise à La Réunion est l'un des volcans basaltique les plus actifs au monde. Ses éruptions sporadiques génèrent des panaches volcaniques essentiellement constitués de gaz et de nanoparticules qui se propagent dans l'atmosphère. En journée, la formation d'oxydants (photolyse) permet d'oxyder une partie du dioxyde de soufre en acide sulfurique. Les molécules d'H2SO4 peuvent réagir avec les molécules d'eau atmosphérique pour former des embryons via la nucléation binaire homogène. Puis, ces embryons grossissent grâce aux processus de condensation et/ou coagulation conduisant alors à la formation d'un aérosol volcanique submicronique. Cette thèse vise à observer, comprendre et modéliser les processus de Formation de Nouvelles Particules (FNP) au sein des panaches volcaniques. De ce fait, elle s'organise en deux parties. La première se base sur les données recueillies lors de la campagne multidisciplinaire STRAP menée à l’observatoire du Maïdo et au Piton de la Fournaise en 2015. Elle expose les résultats issus d’une double analyse de la fréquence et de l’intensité des événements de FNP à l’observatoire. Tandis que la première analyse s’intéresse aux processus en l’absence du panache volcanique, la seconde met en exergue les spécificités de la FNP liées à sa présence au Maïdo. La seconde partie s'axe autour de la modélisation d'abord 0D puis 3D des processus de FNP au sein des panaches volcaniques via le modèle atmosphérique Méso-NH<br>Volcanic activity can be a natural source of air pollution. This pollution can lead to a deterioration in air quality, affect human health and disrupt aviation safety. The Piton de la Fournaise in Reunion Island is one of the most active basaltic volcanoes in the world. Its sporadic eruptions generate volcanic plumes consisting mainly of gases and nanoparticles that spread in the atmosphere. During the day, a part of the sulphur dioxide can be oxidized to sulphuric acid thanks to oxidants production (photolysis). H2SO4molecules tend to react with atmospheric water molecules and form clusters via homogeneous binary nucleation. Then, these clusters grow by condensation and/or coagulation processes leading to the formation of a submicronic volcanic aerosol. This thesis aims to observe, understand and model the New Particle Formation (NPF) processes within volcanic plumes. Consequently, it is organized in two parts. The first is based on the data gathered during the multidisciplinary STRAP campaign conducted at both the Maïdo Observatory and Piton de la Fournaise volcano in 2015. It presents the results from a dual analysis of the NPF events frequency and intensity at the observatory. While the first analysis focuses on processes in the absence of the volcanic plume, the second highlights the specificities of the NPF related to the presence of the plume at Maïdo. The second part focuses on 0D then 3D NPF processes modelling within volcanic plumes via the Meso-NH atmospheric model

An experimental and numerical investigation was conducted to study boiling and condensation - the two most important phenomena occurring in a dual-chamber thermosyphon. Boiling experiments were carried out using water at sub-atmospheric pressures of 9.7, 15 and 21 kPa with a three-dimensional porous boiling enhancement structure integrated in the evaporator. Sub-atmospheric pressure boiling achieved heat fluxes in excess of 100 W/cm2 with negligible incipience superheat, for wall temperatures below 85 oC. Reduced pressures resulted in reduction of heat transfer coefficient with decrease in saturation pressure. The boiling enhancement structure showed considerable heat transfer enhancement compared to boiling from plain surface. Increased height of the structure decreased the heat transfer coefficient and suggested the existence of an optimum structure height for a particular saturation pressure. A parametric study showed that a reduction in liquid level of water increased the CHF for boiling with plain surfaces. For boiling with enhanced structures, the liquid level for optimum heat transfer increased with increasing height of the enhanced structure. A numerical model was developed to study condensation of water in horizontal rectangular microchannels of hydraulic diameters 150-375 µm. The model incorporated surface tension, axial pressure gradient, liquid film curvature, liquid film thermal resistance, gravity and interfacial shear stress, and implemented successive solution of mass, momentum and energy balance equations for both liquid and vapor phases. Rectangular microchannels achieved significantly higher heat transfer coefficient compared to a circular channel of similar hydraulic diameter. Increasing the inlet mass flow rate resulted in a higher heat transfer coefficient. Increasing the inlet temperature difference between wall and vapor led to a thicker film and a gradually decreasing heat transfer coefficient. Increasing the channel dimensions led to higher heat transfer coefficient, with a reduction in the vapor pressure drop along the axial direction of the channel. The unique contributions of the study are: extending the knowledge base and contributing unique results on the thermal performance of thermosyphons, and development of a analytical model of condensation in rectangular microchannels, which identified the system parameters that affects the flow and thermal performance during condensation.

Some special features of polaritons, quasi-particles being normal modes of system of excitons interacting with photons in so called strong coupling regime, are theoretically and numerically analyze in low dimensional systems. In Chapter 1 is given a brief overview of 0D, 1D and 2D semiconductor structures with a general introduction to the polariton field. Chapter 2 is devoted to micro / nano wires. The so called whispering gallery modes are studied in the general case of an anisotropic systems as well as polariton formation in ZnO wires. Theoretical model is compared with an experiment. In the Chapter 3 Josephson type dynamics with Bose-Einstein condensates of polaritons is analyzed taking into account pseudospin degree of freedom. Chapter 4 start with an introduction to Aharonov-Bohm effect, as the best known represent of geometrical phases. An another geometrical phase - Berry phase, occurring for a wide class of systems performing adiabatic motion on a closed ring, is main subject of this section. We considered one proposition for an exciton polariton ring interferometer based on Berry phase effect. Chapter 5 concerns one 0D system : strongly coupled quantum dot exciton to cavity photon. We have discussed possibility of obtaining entangled states from a quantum dot embedded in a photonic crystal in polariton regime.

A l'échelle locale et dans les zones habitées, une part importante de la pollution particulaire est imputable au trafic automobile. Plus précisément, il contribue fortement à l'augmentation des concentrations en nombre. Principalement deux sources de particules sont reliées au trafic. L'émission primaire de particules de suies et la formation de nanoparticules secondaires par nucléation. Les émissions et les mécanismes menant à la formation de cette distribution bimodale sont encore mal connus de nos jours. Dans cette thèse, on propose de tenter de répondre à cette problématique par la modélisation numérique. Le modèle modal d'aérosols MAM est utilisé, couplé à deux codes 3D : un CFD (Mercure Saturne) et un CTM (Polair3D). La méthode consiste à effectuer des tests de sensibilité, à l'échelle d'un bord de route mais aussi dans les premiers mètres du panache d'échappement, afin d'identifier les rôles respectifs des divers processus ainsi que les paramètres sensibles de la modélisation.

Ce manuscrit présente les travaux que j'ai effectués au Laboratoire de Physique Théorique durant ma thèse. Ils portent sur l'interaction d'ondes de matière avec des réseaux optiques modulables en temps et en espace. L'utilisation de ces réseaux a permis de contrôler de manière cohérente les propriétés dynamiques d'un gaz d 'atomes ultra-froids. Cette étude théorique a été réalisée en collaboration avec le groupe Atomes Froids du Laboratoire LCAR. Les variations spatiales de l'enveloppe d u réseau créent, localement, des gaps spatiaux créant une cavité de Bragg pour onde de matière, dont nous avons étudié en détail les propriétés et qui a fait l'objet d'une réalisation expérimentale impliquant la propagation d'un condensat de Bose-Einstein de rubidium 85 dans un guide d'onde. Nous avons également étudié la propagation d'un nuage d 'atomes dans un réseau bichromatique qui permet de réaliser un simulateur quantique du modèle de Harper. Le spectre du hamiltonien de ce système a une dimension fractale pouvant être caractérisée nu­ mériquement. Nous avons montré, par ailleurs, qu'il est possible d'exploiter les interactions inter-atomiques répulsives d'un condensat de Bose-Einstein afin d'amplifier les corrélations position-vitesse lors de sa pro­ pagation dans un guide. Notre étude montre qu'une mesure des grandeurs dynamiques locales du nuage atomique permet de sonder expérimentalement les résonances d'un potentiel optique jusqu'à l'échelle du picoKelvin. Enfin, un nuage d'atomes en interaction attractive admet une solution d'équilibre : le soliton. Nous avons démontré, numériquement, que celui-ci peut être utilisé pour sonder des états liés d'un poten­ tiel de taille finie, en peuplant ces états lors d'une expérience de diffusion comme, par exemple, des états de surface<br>This thesis presents the studies that I did at the Laboratoire de Physique Théorique. It concerns the interaction between matter waves and time and space depandant optical lattices. Using such lattices allows one to manipulate coherently the dynamical properties of ultra cold atoms. This theoretical study has been done in collaboration with the Cold Atoms group at the LCAR laboratory. The spatial variations of the lattice envelope locally create spatial gaps which create a Bragg cavity for matter waves. We have st udied in detail their properties and the cavity has been realized experimentally by using a Ru bid ium 85 Bose-Einstein condensate in a wave guide. We have also studied the propagation of an atomic cloud in a bichromatic optical lattice which allows us to make a quantum simulator of the Harper madel. The spectrum of the system Hamiltonian· posseses a fractal dimension which can be numerically characterized. We have also shawn that it is possible to use the repulsive interatomic interaction of a Bose-Einstein condensate in arder to amplify the momentum-position correlation during propagation in a guide. Our st udy shows that a mesure of local dynamical quantities of the atomic cloud enables one to experimentally probe resonances of an optical potential down to the picoKelvin scale. At last, an atomic cloud with attractive interactions admit a stable solution, the soliton. We have numerically demonstrated that this soliton can be used to probe bound states of a potential by populating those states through a scattering experiment, for example surface states

L'utilisation des micro-carnaux a l'avantage de contribuer à une augmentation significative de la compacité des échangeurs de chaleur et à une amélioration des performances énergétiques des systèmes. L'étude des régimes d'écoulements diphasiques et des transferts thermiques locaux représentent un véritable verrou scientifique vu son effet sur la durée de vie et les performances énergétiques des systèmes énergétiques tels que les piles à combustible et les refroidisseurs miniatures. Malheureusement, l'aspect hydrodynamique de l'écoulement et du transfert thermique (mesure des densités de flux thermique et des coefficients d'échange thermique locaux) dans un seul micro-canal demeure toujours mal connu. Dans le cadre de ce travail de thèse, nous nous sommes intéressés à étudier les différents phénomènes se produisant lors de la condensation dans un seul micro-canal en repérant les différentes instabilités hydrodynamiques et en analysant les différents mécanismes physiques influençant les coefficients d'échange thermique. A cette fin, nous avons développé un banc d'essais pour tester la condensation en micro-canaux et dans lequel le micro-canal est instrumenté par des micro-thermocouples de 20 µm de diamètre. Cet aspect micro-instrumentation représente une véritable originalité de ce travail de thèse car il permet de mesurer les températures de surface locales tout au long du micro-canal. Une camera rapide est utilisée pour la visualisation des structures des écoulements se produisant en condensation dans le micro-canal. Une procédure de traitement d'images est développée pour caractériser les différents paramètres de l'écoulement diphasique dans le micro-canal, à savoir : taille des bulles, parcours des bulles, forme du ménisque, vitesse et fréquence des bulles, etc. L'influence de ces paramètres sur les structures des écoulements et sur l'intensification des transferts est étudiée. On montre que la présence des écoulements instationnaires et cycliques qui changent de structure durant chaque période. La variation de la température pour chaque période est reliée à la structure de l'écoulement en condensation dans le micro-canal. On a aussi identifié des écoulements développés de différentes structures. Nous avons aussi mis en évidence que la densité du flux thermique local dépend non seulement du flux massique et du taux de condensation mais également de la structure de l'écoulement en condensation. Enfin, nos résultats donnent une démonstration sur l'influence de la micro-structuration de surface sur la structure d'écoulement lors de la condensation dans un micro-canal, et fournissent de nouvelles méthodes pour l'amélioration de l'intensification thermique.

A materially non-linear layered beam super element is developed for the analysis of RC beams and columns strengthened by externally bonded steel/FRP plates. The elasto-plastic behavior of RC member is incorporated by its internally generated or externally supplied moment-curvature diagram. The steel plate is assumed to be elasto-plastic and the FRP laminate is assumed to behave linearly elastic up to rupture. The thin epoxy layer between the RC member and the externally bonded lamina is simulated by a special interface element which allows for the changing failure modes from steel plate yielding/FRP plate rupture to separation of the bonded plates as a result of bond failure in the epoxy layer. An empirical failure criterion based on test results is used for the epoxy material of the interface. The most critical aspect of such applications in real life frame structures is the anchorage conditions at the member ends and junctions. This has direct influence on the success and the effectiveness of the application. Therefore, a special corner piece anchorage element is also considered in the formulation of the joint super element, which establishes the fixity and continuity conditions at the member ends and the joints.

Une méthodologie générale de simplification de modèles éléments finis de structures à comportement de poutre est proposée dans ce mémoire. Elle concerne les structures mécaniques constituées de composants qui présentent un comportement dynamique global de poutre dans le domaine fréquentiel d'utilisation. C'est en particulier le cas des véhicules automobiles, dont l'ossature comporte des corps creux et des profilés modélisés finement par des éléments finis de type coque. Le principe de simplification mis en oeuvre consiste à remplacer le maillage fin de ces sous-structures par un modèle " équivalent " constitué d'éléments finis de poutre adéquats, réduisant ainsi de manière drastique la taille du modèle sans dégradation significative de sa précision. On propose une méthode originale permettant d'identifier de manière automatique tous les paramètres physiques à introduire dans le modèle équivalent, basé sur la formulation de Timoshenko et prenant en compte le couplage dynamique flexion-torsion. Les nombreux tests numériques présentés mettent en évidence les performances et la fiabilité de la stratégie élaborée. Son adaptation à des structures industrielles de forme complexe, ainsi que l'efficacité du logiciel d'application développé à cet effet, sont illustrées dans ce mémoire.

Chez les eucaryotes, la methylation des cytosines, exclusivement methylees dans les sequences cpg, joue un role crucial dans les processus de regulation genetique, de mutagenese et de condensation de la chromatine. Cependant, les mecanismes moleculaires par lesquels elle exerce son action, restent encore enigmatiques. Notre travail avait pour but d'eclaircir ce probleme grace a la resolution de quatre structures cristallographiques d'oligonucleotides natifs et methyles aux sequences cpg. La structure du dodecamere ras methyle de forme b nous a permis de montrer que la methylation des sites cpg pouvait stabiliser davantage l'assemblage etroit entre deux segments d'adn par la formation de liaisons hydrogene intermoleculaires de type c-h. . . O. Nous avons egalement analyse la fixation des molecules d'eau des sequences cpg methylees dans les structures de trois decameres a haute resolution. Ces etudes ont montre que les groupements methyles pouvaient s'hydrater grace a la formation de liaisons hydrogene de type c-h. . . O et que la methylation permettait la fixation d'un plus grand nombre de molecules d'eau autour des cytosines. Enfin, nous avons cherche a comprendre l'effet de la methylation sur la structure de l'adn en analysant les structures de la sequence nae native et methylee dans differents groupes d'espace. La cristallisation des decameres methyles exclusivement en forme a confirme que la methylation induit un deplacement de l'equilibre b-a dans les oligonucleotides riches en cg. En outre, l'une de ces structures represente a ce jour la plus deformee des doubles helices a etudiees. L'ensemble de ces travaux confirme que la methylation n'influence pas directement la structure de l'adn mais indique qu'elle peut favoriser la formation d'assemblages supramoleculaires et amplifier la reponse structurale de certaines sequences aux interaction tertiaires.

Au long de ce manuscrit de thèse je présenterai des effets non linéaires émergents dans les condensats d'exciton-polaritons spineurs. Après un chapitre d'introduction amenant les notions de bases nécessaires, je me concentrerai dans une première partie sur les défauts topologiques quantifiés par des nombres demi-entiers et discuterai leur stabilité, accélération et nucléation en présence de champs magnétiques effectifs. Nous verrons que ces objets se comportent comme des charges magnétiques manipulables démontrant une analogie fascinante avec les monopoles de Dirac. De manière remarquable nous verrons également que ces objets peuvent être utilisés comme des signaux stables pour sonder la physique d'analogues acoustiques de trous noirs. Dans une seconde partie j'étudierai des structures de basse dimensions. Plus particulièrement, je décrirai la formation de solitons de bande interdite et les oscillations de Bloch des exciton-polaritons dans des microfils comportant des structures périodiques et d'autre part les oscillations Josephson à température ambiante dans des paires de micropilliers couplés.

Les structures en béton et béton armé de grandes dimensions, en particulier les enceintes de confinement, peuvent être sujettes à de la fissuration localisée suite à leur vieillissement ou dans le cas d’une forte sollicitation (APRP, par exemple). Afin d’optimiser les actions de maintenance, il est nécessaire de disposer d’un modèle prédictif de l’endommagement du béton. Ce phénomène se produit à une échelle matériau relativement petite et un modèle prédictif nécessite un maillage fin et une loi de comportement non linéaire. Hors ce type de modélisation ne peut être directement appliquée sur une structure de génie civil de grande échelle, le calcul étant trop lourd pour les machines actuelles.Une méthode de calcul est proposée, qui concentre l’effort de calcul sur les zones d’intérêt (parties endommagées) de la structure en éliminant les zones non endommagées. L’objectif est ainsi d’utiliser la puissance de calcul disponible pour la caractérisation des propriétés des fissures notamment. Cette approche utilise la méthode de condensation statique de Guyan pour ramener les zones élastiques à un ensemble de conditions aux limites appliquées aux bornes des zones d’intérêt. Lorsque le système évolue, un système de critères permet de promouvoir à la volée des zones élastiques en zones d’intérêt si de l’endommagement y apparaît. Cette méthode de condensation adaptative permet de réduire la dimension du problème non linéaire sans altérer la qualité des résultats par rapport à un calcul complet de référence. Cependant, une modélisation classique ne permet pas de prendre en compte les divers aléas impactant le comportement de la structure : propriétés mécaniques, géométrie, chargement… Afin de mieux caractériser ce comportement en tenant compte des incertitudes, la méthode de condensation adaptative proposée est couplée avec une approche de collocation stochastique. Chaque calcul déterministe nécessaire pour caractériser les incertitudes sur les grandeurs d’intérêt de la structure est ainsi réduit et les étapes de prétraitement nécessaires à la condensation sont elles-mêmes mutualisées via une deuxième collocation. L’approche proposée permet ainsi de produire pour un coût de calcul limité des densités de probabilités des grandeurs d’intérêt d’une grande structure. Les stratégies de résolution proposées rendent accessibles à l’échelle locale une modélisation plus fine que celle qui pourrait s’appliquer sur l’ensemble de la structure. Afin de bénéficier d’une meilleure représentativité à cette échelle, il est nécessaire de représenter les effets tridimensionnels des hétérogénéités. Dans le domaine du génie civil et nucléaire, cela concerne au premier chef les câbles de précontrainte, traditionnellement représentés en unidimensionnel. Une approche est donc proposée, qui s’appuie sur un maillage et une modélisation 1D pour reconstruire un volume équivalent au câble et retransmettre les efforts et rigidités dans le volume de béton. Elle combine la représentativité d’un modèle 3D complet et conforme des câbles lorsque le maillage s’affine et la facilité d’utilisation et paramétrage d’un modèle 1D. L’applicabilité des méthodes proposées à une structure de génie civil de grande échelle est évaluée sur un modèle numérique d’une maquette à l’échelle 1/3 de l’enceinte de confinement interne d’un réacteur de type REP 1300 MWe à double paroi<br>Large-scale concrete and reinforced concrete structures, and in particular containment buildings, may undergo localized cracking when they age or endure strong loadings (LOCA for instance). In order to optimize the maintenance actions, a predictive model of concrete damage is required. This phenomenon takes place at a rather small material scale and a predictive model requires a refined mesh and a nonlinear constitutive law. This type of modelling cannot be applied directly on a large-scale civil engineering structure, as the computational load would be too heavy for the existing machines.A simulation method is proposed to focus the computational effort on the areas of interest (damaged parts) of the structure while eliminating the undamaged areas. It aims at using the available computing power for the characterization of crack properties in particular. This approach uses Guyan’s static condensation technique to reduce the elastic areas to a set of boundary conditions applied to the areas of interest. When the system evolves, a set of criteria allows to promote on the fly the elastic areas to areas of interest if damage appears. This adaptive condensation technique allows to reduce the dimension of a nonlinear problem without degrading the quality of the results when compared to a full reference simulation.However, a classical modelling does not allow to take into account the various unknowns which will impact the structural behaviour: mechanical properties, geometry, loading… In order to better characterize this behaviour while taking into account the various uncertainties, the proposed adaptive condensation method is coupled with a stochastic collocation approach. Each deterministic simulation required for the characterization of the uncertainties on the structural quantities of interest is therefore reduced and the pre-processing steps necessary to the condensation technique are also reduced using a second collocation. The proposed approach allows to produce for a reduced computational cost the probability density functions of the quantities of interest of a large structure.The proposed calculation strategies give access at the local scale to a modelling finer than what would be applicable to the full structure. In order to improve the representativeness at this scale, the tridimensional effects of the heterogeneities must be taken into account. In the civil and nuclear engineering field, one of the main issues is the modelling of prestressing tendons, usually modelled in one dimension. A new approach is proposed, which uses a 1D mesh and model to build a volume equivalent to the tendon and redistribute the forces and stiffnesses in the concrete. It combines the representativeness of a full conform 3D modelling of the tendon when the mesh is refined and the ease of use of the 1D approaches.The applicability of the proposed methodologies to a large-scale civil engineering structure is evaluated using a numerical model of a 1/3 mock-up of a double-wall containment building of a PWR 1300 MWe nuclear reactor

Ce travail de recherche examine aux échelles globale et locale les caractéristiques thermo-hydrauliques au sein des échangeurs à plaques ondulées pour les écoulements monophasiques et en mode condensation. Il comprend deux parties :La première partie concerne l'analyse des structures d'écoulement en mode monophasique à partir d'un outil de simulations numériques, et dont les résultats sont validés à partir d'une campagne expérimentale. L'exploitation des résultats de simulations, à partir d'observables judicieusement sélectionnées, a permis de quantifier les grandes classes d'écoulement en fonction des paramètres géométriques et fluidiques de l'échangeur. Ce nouvel éclairement sur les structures d'écoulement a conduit à la proposition d'un modèle général original sur les lois de friction au sein de ces échangeurs de géométrie d'écoulement complexe.La deuxième partie concerne l'étude de la condensation de la vapeur avec et sans surchauffe en entrée de l'échangeur. Ainsi, un dispositif expérimental permettant le contrôle précis des conditions aux limites a été développé, et une métrologie spécifique, basée sur la thermographie infrarouge a également été mis au point, afin de remonter à certaines grandeurs locales le long du condenseur (titre de vapeur, coefficient d'échange thermique...). On observe ainsi une très forte variabilité des coefficients d'échanges thermiques et de la densité de flux de chaleur le long du condenseur, et la surchauffe de la vapeur tend à intensifier les transferts thermiques. Ce complément de mesures remet en question certaines hypothèses de la littérature quant à l'élaboration de corrélations sur les transferts de chaleur dans les condenseurs<br>This research work examines at the global and local scales the thermo-hydraulic characteristics of plate heat exchangers with corrugated chevron plates, for single-phase and condensation flows. The study is divided into two parts:The first part concerns the analysis of flow structures of single-phase flows using numerical simulations, which are validated using the results of the experimental campaign. The analysis of the simulations results, from a flow characteristic observable that has been carefully chosen, has allowed quantifying the main flow categories as a function of the heat exchanger geometric parameters and the flow characteristics. This new information on the flow structures has led to the proposal of an original generalized model of the friction law inside this type of heat exchanger with complex geometry.The second part concerns the study of condensation with and without vapor superheating at the inlet of the heat exchanger. Thus, a specific experimental setup allowing precise control of the boundary conditions has been developed. Otherwise a specific metrology, based on infrared thermography, has been set to the point in order to determine the variation of certain local quantities along the condenser (vapor mass fraction, heat transfer coefficient...). Thus, we observe a high and wide variability of the heat transfer coefficients and the heat flux density along the condenser, and the superheating of the vapor tends to increase the heat transfers. These additional measures question certain assumptions of the literature regarding the development of heat transfer correlations in plate heat condensers

La réduction du cout de construction et d’exploitation des futurs accélérateurs d particules, a grande et petite échelles, dépend du développement de nouveaux matériaux pour les surfaces actives des structures supraconductrices en radiofréquence (SRF). Les propriétés SRF sont essentiellement un phénomène de surface vu que la profondeur de pénétration (profondeur de pénétration de London, λ) des micro-ondes (RF) est typiquement de l’ordre de 20 à 400 nm en fonction du matériau. Lorsque les procédés de préparation de surface sont optimises, la limite fondamentale du champ RF que les surfaces SRF peuvent supporter est le champ RF maximum, Hc₁, au-delà duquel le flux magnétique commence à pénétrer la surface du supraconducteur. Le matériau le plus utilise pour des applications SRF est le niobium (Nb) massif, avec un champ Hc₁ de l’ordre de 170 mT, qui permet d’atteindre un champ accélérateur de moins de 50 MV/m. Les meilleures perspectives d’amélioration des performances des cavités SRF sont liées à des matériaux et méthodes de production produisant la surface SRF critique de façon contrôlée. Dans cette optique, deux avenues sont explorées pour utiliser des couches minces pour augmenter les performances des structures SRF au-delà du Nb massif, en monocouche ou en structures multicouches Supraconducteur-Isolant-Supraconducteur (SIS) : La première approche est d’utiliser une couche de Nb déposée sur du cuivre (Nb/Cu) à la place du Nb massif. La technologie Nb/Cu a démontré, au cours des années, être une alternative viable pour les cavités SRF. Toutefois, les techniques de dépôt communément utilisées, principalement la pulvérisation magnétron, n’ont jusqu’à présent pas permis de produire des surfaces SRF adaptées aux performances requises. Le récent développement de techniques de dépôt par condensation énergétiques, produisant des flux d’ions énergétiques de façon contrôlée (telles que des sources d’ions ECR sous ultravide) ouvrent la voie au développement de films SRF de grand qualité. La corrélation entre les conditions de croissance, l’énergie des ions incidents, la structure et les performances RF des films produits est étudiée. Des films Nb avec des propriétés proches du Nb massif sont ainsi produits. La deuxième approche est basée sur un concept qui propose qu’une structure multicouche SIS déposée sur une surface de Nb peut atteindre des performances supérieures à celles du Nb massif. Bien que les matériaux supraconducteurs à haute Tc aient un champ Hc₁ inférieur à celui du Nb, des couches minces de tels matériaux d’une épaisseur (d) inférieure à la profondeur de pénétration voient une augmentation de leur champ parallèle Hc₁ résultant au retardement de la pénétration du flux magnétique. Cette surcouche peut ainsi permettre l’écrantage magnétique de la surface de Nb qui est donc maintenue dans l’état de Meissner à des champs RF bien plus importants que pour le Nb massif. La croissance et performance de structures multicouches SIS basées sur des films de NbTiN, pour le supraconducteur, et de l’AlN, pour le diélectrique, sont étudiées. Les résultats de cette étude montrent la faisabilité de cette approche et le potentiel qui en découle pour l’amélioration des performances SRF au-delà du Nb massif<br>The minimization of cost and energy consumption of future particle accelerators, both large and small, depends upon the development of new materials for the active surfaces of superconducting RF (SRF) accelerating structures. SRF properties are inherently a surface phenomenon as the RF only penetrates the London penetration depth λ, typically between 20 and 400 nm depending on the material. When other technological processes are optimized, the fundamental limit to the maximum supportable RF field amplitude is understood to be the field at which the magnetic flux first penetrates into the surface, Hc₁. Niobium, the material most exploited for SRF accelerator applications, has Hc₁~170 mT, which yields a maximum accelerating gradient of less than 50 MV/m. The greatest potential for dramatic new performance capabilities lies with methods and materials which deliberately produce the sub-micron-thick critical surface layer in a controlled way. In this context, two avenues are pursued for the use of SRF thin films as single layer superconductor or multilayer Superconductor-Insulator-Superconductor structures: Niobium on copper (Nb/Cu) technology for superconducting cavities has proven over the years to be a viable alternative to bulk niobium. However the deposition techniques used for cavities, mainly magnetron sputtering, have not yielded, so far, SRF surfaces suitable for high field performance. High quality films can be grown using methods of energetic condensation, such as Electron Cyclotron Resonance (ECR) Nb ion source in UHV which produce higher flux of ions with controllable incident angle and kinetic energy. The relationship between growth conditions, film microstructure and RF performance is studied. Nb films with unprecedented “bulk-like” properties are produced. The second approach is based on the proposition that a Superconductor/Insulator/Superconductor (S-I-S) multilayer film structure deposited on an Nb surface can achieve performance in excess of that of bulk Nb. Although, many higher-Tc superconducting compounds have Hc₁ lower than niobium, thin films of such compounds with a thickness (d) less than the penetration depth can exhibit an increase of the parallel Hc₁ thus delaying vortex entry. This overlayer provides magnetic screening of the underlying Nb which can then remain in the Meissner state at fields much higher than in bulk Nb. A proof of concept is developed based on NbTiN and AlN thin films. The growth of NbTiN and AlN films is studied and NbTiN-based multilayer structures deposited on Nb surfaces are characterized. The results from this work provide insight for the pursuit of major reductions in both capital and operating costs associated with future particle accelerators across the spectrum from low footprint compact machines to energy frontier facilities

Nanoparticles represent a very exciting new area of research. Their small size, ranging from several nanometers to tens of nanometers, is responsible for many changes in the structural, thermal, electromagnetic, optical and mechanical properties in comparison with the bulk solid of the same materials. However, promoting the use of such material requires well-controlled synthesis techniques to be developed. Inductively coupled thermal plasma (ICTP) reactors have been shown to offer unique advantages over other synthesis methods. The purpose of this thesis is to develop a numerical model to assist the design of an ICTP reactor for the efficient and controlled production of nanoparticles at industrial scale. The complete model describes the evaporation of the micron-sized precursor particles in the plasma flow and the subsequent formation of the nanoparticles in the quenching reactor. The plasma flow is described by a coupled system of the fluid mechanics equations of continuity, momentum, and energy with the vector potential formulation of Maxwell's equations. The solid particles precursors are treated following a Lagrangian approach, taking into account the vapor production field in the plasma flow. An Eulerian model based on the method of moments with interpolative closure is used to describe the formation of nanoparticles by simultaneous nucleation and growth by condensation and coagulation. The coupled plasma torch, particle evaporation and nanoparticle formation models are implemented in 2D and 3D configurations, using the OpenFoam source code. The results show that the effects of the particle evaporation on the temperature field are substantial, even for low particle mass loading. The associated vapor concentration which enters in the reactor has then a direct influence on the formation of nanoparticles. The effects of the plasma torch parameters and the quenching configuration (quench type, position, injection angle and cooling rate) on the contribution of the different formation mechanisms and on the generated particle's size and distribution are studied in both 2D axi-symmetric and 3D geometries. The quench mechanism strongly affects the temperature and the vapor concentration in the reactor, and consequently has an impact on the final particle size distribution. It is shown that the size of the nanoparticles obtained for different quenching conditions is not only a consequence of the cooling rate but also of the trajectories of the vapor and the generated particles imposed by quenching gas. The results have also demonstrated that the predicted particle are smaller and more sensitive to the modifications of the quenching condition when quenching at high temperature. The sensitivity of the complete model to the physical properties of the vapor (vapor pressure and surface tension) is also investigated, in order to identify their effect on the final particle size. The results obtained provide an insight into the phenomena involved during the production of nanoparticles and enable the improvement of ICTP rectors design and nanoparticles synthesis process.<br>Doctorat en Sciences de l'ingénieur et technologie<br>info:eu-repo/semantics/nonPublished

Cette étude porte sur la simulation dynamique de structures présentant des interfaces non linéaires et plus particulièrement sur le développement de diverses extensions à la méthode de balance harmonique. Cette méthode, qui permet le calcul de réponses vibratoires stationnaires, est basée sur l'approximation en série de Fourier tronquée de la réponse. En fonction de caractère plus ou moins non linéaire de la réponse, le nombre d'harmoniques à retenir pour approcher de façon satisfaisante la réponse peut être important et varier fortement sur l'ensemble de la plage de fréquence de simulation. Un des objectifs principaux de cette recherche a été de proposer une stratégie de calcul qui permette d'adapter le nombre d'harmoniques à chaque fréquence. Dans l'optique d'approcher le mouvement global de la structure, la méthodologie proposée se base sur le suivi de l'énergie de déformation du système en fonction de la richesse du contenu fréquentiel. La formulation développée reste simple à calculer et compatible avec les étapes de condensation interne à la méthode de balance harmonique. L'extension de cette technique au calcul de réponses quasi-stationnaires est en outre possible en redéfinissant les stratégies de choix des harmoniques à retenir. Parallèlement à ce but principal, la présence de variables internes dans les modèles non linéaires d'interface (modèle de frottement par exemple) a été prise en compte dans la formulation des équations de la balance harmonique adaptative. Ces méthodes spécifiques ont ensuite été mises en oeuvre sur des modèles numériques de structures aéronautiques. Un isolateur d'équipement utilisant un matériau viscoélastique non linéaire a ainsi pu être simulé. Ensuite, la méthode de balance harmonique adaptative a pu être appliquée à l'étude des effets dynamiques non linéaires observée sur les structures boulonnées. Enfin, le calcul de réponses quasi périodiques s'est effectué sur un tronçon de lanceur intégrant des amortisseurs à frottement sec.

Une approche synthétique des méthodes de réduction de modèles éléments finis dynamiques de structures mécaniques est présentée dans ce mémoire.<br />Une nouvelle technique de synthèse modale est proposée: elle permet l'obtention de modèles réduits exempts de coordonnées de jonction. Ses performances sont comparées vis-à-vis des méthodes de sous-structuration classiques lors de la réduction de modèles de structures automobiles. Un modèle sous-structuré d'une caisse nue de véhicule de 450 000 ddl, présentant une forte connectivité, est condensé à 2000 ddl par cette méthode.<br />L'usage de transformations de coordonnées physiques avec la prise en compte des chargements appliqués est généralisé à l'ensemble des méthodes de réduction.<br />La robustesse des modèles réduits paramétrés est traitée ainsi que les techniques d'adaptation, par réductions multiplies, des données issues du modèle aux observations mesurées sur la structure dans des objectifs de recalage de modèle et d'optimisation de comportement.

Ce travail a visé à une meilleure identification des unités condensées dans les structures lignines i. E. Des unités ou le noyau aromatique est lie au cycle et/ou à la chaîne propyle d'une autre unité phényle propyle. Ces structures clefs dans la structure polymère ont été moins étudiées que d'autres. Afin d'observer ces unités dans la structure lignine elle-même et non pas dans ses produits de dégradation, comme cela se fait traditionnellement, on a utilisé une sonde rmn, le mercure-199, par le biais de ses réactions de substitution électrophile sélective sur le noyau aromatique. Des échantillons représentatifs de divers types de lignines ont été mercurés par le diacetate de mercure en milieu polaire: lignines de référence mwl extraites de bois moulu de conifère et de feuillu selon le procédé bjorkman ; lignine de type industriel extraite par un procédé organosolv de pate thermomécanique de sapin ; polymère modèle de lignine gaiacyle synthetise in vitro, le dhp. Dans une étape préliminaire des monomères modèles de lignine, la vanilline, les alcools vanillique, syringylique et veratrylique ont été mercures, puis caractérisés par rmn #1#3c et #1#9#9hg en detection directe et indirecte, cette dernière utilisant les séquences de type hmqc, d'abord testées sur l'acétate de phényle mercure, qui permettent, à partir de la valeur des couplages j199hg-1h mesures, d'identifier sans ambiguïté le ou les sites de mercuration. Cette étude a fourni une série de nouveaux paramètres en rmn du mercure-199 et a rendu possible l'interprétation qualitative et quantitative des spectres rmn #1#3c des lignines mercurées. La correlation entre le nombre d'unités condensées, surtout les 5-5 et b-5, et la limitation des réactions de substitution sur le noyau aromatique a pu être observée directement sur la structure lignine ; on a pu montrer, entre autre, que les lignines syringyles, moins condensées que les lignines gaiacyles, avaient un taux de mercuration supérieur, illustrant ainsi par une preuve directe le rôle des unités condensées qui verrouillent la structure des lignines du point de vue stérique et du point de vue de leur réactivité

This thesis describes the investigation of three aspects of the formation of secondary organic aerosol (SOA): * Aerosol formation from mixed precursors * Global modelling of SOA formation * Modelling of dynamics of SOA formation based on empirical data collected from smog chamber experiments. The formation and growth processes of secondary organic aerosol were investigated using smog chamber experimentation and modelling techniques to gain a better understanding of the application of SOA yield values in modelling both SOA mass and dynamics. Published SOA yields from a range of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are used to model SOA mass on a local, regional or global scale, based on the assumption that the SOA yield of a mixture is the sum of the yields of the components. Experimental investigations into SOA yield from mixtures of VOC revealed potential uncertainties that would result from applying these yields to systems containing multiple VOCs. SOA formation in systems of toluene or m-xylene, compared with systems of these VOCs and propene, have shown that the introduction of propene (which has a zero SOA yield) to smog chamber photo-oxidations of toluene or m-xylene delays the formation and suppresses the overall yield of SOA from 450 to 90 µg m-3 ppm-1 for the toluene system and from 325 to 125 µg m-3 ppm-1 for the mvxylene system compared with systems of individual species without propene. The SOA partitioning yield data also indicates that partitioning of species to existing aerosol is suppressed in the mixed systems. Gas-phase modelling of these experiments showed that potential SOA species were expected to be formed sooner due to the increased system reactivity provided by propene. The observed delay in SOA nucleation, similar consumption rates of toluene and m-xylene in both the single and mixed systems and the gas-phase modelling results suggest that the addition of propene to hydrocarbon SOA systems modifies the gas-phase chemistry leading to the formation of potential SOA species from toluene and m-xylene. This result calls into question the bulk and partitioning yield values that have been published for pure substances as well as the validity of applying individual VOC yields to VOC mixture. Application of SOA yields to the global scale provides estimates of annual global SOA formation, global contributions from various VOCs and regional SOA distributions. Two SOA modules, using bulk and partitioning yield methods, were added to a global atmospheric chemical transport model, MOZART-2. The bulk yield method, representing the maximum possible global SOA burden, gave an annual production of 24.5 Tg of SOA, which is slightly lower than previous estimates (30 - 270 Tg yr-1). The partitioning method, which gives a more realistic estimate of SOA formation, produced 15.3 Tg yr-1; the biogenic fraction (13.6 Tg yr-1) compares to a previous estimate of biogenic SOA of 18.5 Tg yr-1 and 2.5 to 44 Tg yr- 1 using the partitioning method. Anthropogenic SOA contributions of 1.1 Tg yr-1 from MOZART-2 compared to recent estimates of 0.05 -2.62 Tg yr-1. SOA production was found to be dependent on oxidant availability and VOC emissions in South America and Asia. The partitioning method produced significantly less SOA due to limited availability of OC. Thepartitioning method also produced a peak SOA concentration of 10 µg m-3 over South America in September and showed that SOA is at maximum production for most of the year in Asia and Europe. The two SOA formation methods also provides data to analyse the restrictions to SOA formation in particular regions, based on the maximum amount of SOA able to form (bulk yield method) and the more realistic partitioning estimate from the same region. Limitations to SOA formation in a particular region can be attributed to deficiencies in OC availability or VOC oxidant concentrations. Comparisons to limited observational and modelled data suggest that the MOZART-2 SOA model provides a good representation of global averaged SOA. SOA mass concentrations, predicted by models such as MOZART-2, can be used in part to model the dynamics of an SOA population (e.g. size of particles, number concentrations etc.). Aerosol properties such as size and number concentration can then be used to estimate their effect on climate and health. The explicit representation of the processes that affect aerosol dynamics, such as nucleation, condensation, evaporation and coagulation can be complex and use significant computational resources. Simplification of the discrete coagulation equation and empirical coagulation coefficients for continuum and non-continuum regime diffusion kinetics provided a simplified method of coagulation capable of predicting the evolution of inert sodium chloride aerosol in chamber experiments. A variable coagulation coefficient (linked to the mean particle number concentration of each experiment) was developed. This method is an empirical surrogate for the standard coefficient corrections applied to Brownian based diffusion in the continuum regime to account for the different kinetic effects within the transition and free molecular diffusion regimes. This method removes the need for calculating individual coefficients for each particle interaction. Estimates of modeluncertainty show that within uncertainty limits the model provides a good representation of experimental data. Correlation and index of agreement (IOA) calculations revealed good statistical agreement between modelled and experimental. Some experiments showed degrees of coagulation under prediction using the variable coefficient technique. Investigations into the effect of aerosol type and size, temperature and humidity may be necessary to refine the variable coefficient calculation technique. The model showed little sensitivity to model time step and is capable of high resolution representation of the aerosol. Mass concentration is conserved within the model whereas some error due to numerical diffusion within the number concentrations results from the bin sectioning technique used. The simplicity of this sectioning method over other methods and the minimal effect of numerical diffusion establishes a simplified method of modelling relative to the high resolution of the aerosol distribution the model achieves. It is suggested that the efficiency improvements introduced by the approaches used in developing this model provide an efficient ultra-fine coagulation modelling for atmospheric models. A semi-empirical model for SOA dynamics (SPLAT) incorporating coagulation, nucleation, condensation and evaporation was developed. The aim of the model and the development process was to predict, with high resolution and minimal computational expense, the formation and growth of SOA given a SOA mass input as a function of time. The average size distribution profile from chamber experimental data was used as part of the nucleation module. This technique provided an alternative method of representing the particle distribution compared to those models that assume a single diameter of nucleated particle or a fixed log-normal mode for the entire evolution of SOA. All SPLAT simulations assume organic nucleation events within the experiments modelled, although it is stilluncertain whether they occur in the atmosphere. The modelled nucleation events have produced a single nucleation burst, a result of immediate domination of condensation as soon as nucleation occurs. This deficiency is likely to be a result of the assumption of free molecular diffusion for condensation. The rate of condensation, calculated at every time step, is based on the aerosol size distributed surface area and the particle-size-dependent saturation mass concentrations. The SPLAT coagulation module was a version of the model developed in Chapter 6. Comparisons between experimental and modelled data showed good agreement. These comparisons revealed the shortcomings in the nucleation module while a statistical analysis of the modelled and experimental data has shown SPLAT to be effective in modelling a range of SOA systems. The complexity introduced in modelling aerosol dynamics in high resolution is offset in SPLAT by efficiency improvements due to the insensitivity of the model to time step size and simplified methods of bin sectioning, nucleation, coagulation, condensation and evaporation. Published SOA yields can be applied to predict SOA mass at local, regional or global scales. Although previously unreported uncertainties in these yields have been shown to exist, the MOZART-2 global chemical transport model has shown that SOA mass concentration can be predicted with reasonable quality, considering the scale of the model and limited observational data. These global scale SOA mass predictions can be used purely for global burden and occurrence, or as the input for modelling the dynamics of an aerosol population, which is significant for estimating an aerosol population's effect on climate change and health. SOA mass concentrations from chamber experiments were used as input to a SOA dynamics model. This model (SPLAT) then predicted the evolution of particle number concentrations and size within these experiments based on this mass input. Application of the dynamics model to the output of the MOZART-2 model could then provide a comprehensive global scale SOA modelling package.

Des modèles de chimie transport permettent le suivi réaliste des polluants en phase gazeuse dans l'atmosphère. Cependant, lapollution atmosphérique se trouve aussi sous forme de fines particules en suspension, les aérosols, qui interagissent avec la phase gazeuse, le rayonnement solaire, et possèdent une dynamique propre. Cette thèse a pour objet la modélisation et la simulation numérique de l'Equation Générale de la Dynamique des aérosols (GDE). La partie I traite de quelques points théoriques de la modélisation des aérosols. La partie II est consacrée à l'élaboration du module d'aérosols résolu en taille (SIREAM). dans la partie III, on effectue la réduction du modèle en vue de son utilisation dans un modèle de dispersion tel que POLAIR3D. Plusieurs points de modélisation restent encore largement ouverts: la partie organique des aérosols, le mélange externe, le couplage à la turbulence, et les nano-particules.

Основним результатом роботи є вивчення трансформації селективних процесів фазоутворення й просторово розподіленого росту конденсатів за умов осадження пари під час наближення системи плазма–конденсат або хімічно активне середовище–конденсат до термодинамічної рівноваги та за переходу від однокомпонентних до багатокомпонентних систем. Встановлено, що домінуючий вплив на процес структуроутворення наносистем мають наднизькі відносні пересичення осаджуваної пари, а не тип активного середовища над ростовою поверхнею. При этом значительная часть работы посвящена изучению процессов зарядопереноса в сенсорах фрактально-перколяционного типа на основе ZnO, ZnO/NiO и ZnO/CuO при воздействии на наносистемы газовыми реагентами и оптическим облучением, а также физическим свойствам многокомпонентных систем.<br>The dissertation is devoted to the investigation of the processes of phase and structure formation of near-equilibrium condensates of individual metals (Zn, Ni, Cu, Cr and Al), oxides (ZnO, NiO and CuO), fractal-percolation nanosystems (ZnO, ZnO/NiO and ZnO/CuO), as well as a multi-element systems composed of various metals (W, Ta, Hf, Ti, Mo, Cr, Zr, Al, Co and Ni) and carbon. The main result of the work is investigation of selective processes transformation at the phase formation and the condensates spatially distributed growth under vapor deposition conditions close to thermodynamic equilibrium in plasma-condensate and chemically active medium-condensate system in one component systems and during the transition from one-component to multicomponent systems. Mathematical model has been developed, that allows to estimate changes in the relative supersaturation of the depositing vapours in the range from 0.06 to 0.1 depending on the size of the zones of adatoms diffusion capture around Cu nanocrystals. With aim to compare the possibilities of the structure formation of near- equilibrium nanosystems using PVD and CVD technology, the technology of obtaining copper nanosystems based on the decomposition of CuCl2 in the presence of hydrogen and nitrogen have been proposed. It has been proved experimentally, that the dominant influence onto the nanosystems structure formation process plays ultralow relative saturation of the deposited vapour rather than the type of active medium above the growth surface. Based on fractal-percolation nanosystems ZnO, ZnO/CuO and ZnO/NiO selective gas sensors have been developed, that based on current-voltage characteristics shape allow to distinguish between different gaseous reagents. The analysis of changes in the shape of the I–V characteristics of fractal-percolation nanosystems ZnO, ZnO/CuO and ZnO/NiO have shown the fundamental possibility of recognizing such reagents in the air as CO2, C3H8 + C4H10 (LPG), CH3-C(O)-CH3, CH4 or C2H5OH. It has been shown, that during the transition to near-equilibrium condensation of a multicomponent layers, a growth surface with an increased density of active centres is formed. Therefore, adatoms attachment to the multicomponent growth surface occurs only provided the strongest chemical bonds are realized. This fact cause the high configurational entropy of mixing components, which in the presence of a carbon component is a prerequisite for the coatings formation with high micro-hardness characteristics.

We report observations of the behavior of superfluid 4He in two porous membranes, Nuclepore and Anopore. Using capacitive measurements, M. P. Lilly had observed hysteresis, return-point memory and avalanche behavior in Nuclepore [49] when superfluid 4He in capillary condensed in its pores. Additionally, he found that the avalanches of draining pores were global on the substrate, and the pore-pore connections as well as the superfluid film enabled the avalanches. We have continued that work to characterize the statistics of the avalanches in Nuclepore. We have seen that the statistics of the avalanches in Nuclepore are dependent on temperature and rate of removal of 4He from the sample cell. We have also observed two distinct regions of avalanche type in Nuclepore, which we propose is due to the pore-pore connections. We have observed power law behavior in the statistics of the avalanche size and measured the correlation of the avalanche events and sizes under various conditions. We have also observed hysteresis, return-point memory and avalanche behavior in Anopore using the same type of capacitive measurement. Anopore differs from Nuclepore in that nominally it has no pore-pore connections. In Anopore, we observed only one type of avalanche draining, and exponential behavior in the statistics of the avalanches instead of power law tendencies. We also measured the correlation of the avalanche events and sizes, and compared our results to those for Nuclepore. We performed simulations of draining on Nuclepore, artificially including and excluding third sound from our “avalanches”. We find that our results are similar to our laboratory measurements. We also performed a simple version of semi-local draining on Anopore, and saw some similarities to our measured results. We conclude that the behavior and statistics of the avalanches in a porous material are good indications of whether one is looking at a substrate that is percolated (Nuclepore) or a substrate that has no internal connections (Anopore).

This work studies the stable room temperature structures of metal on metal overlayers. The purpose of this study is twofold. First, the advent of the atomic imaging technique of Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM) makes it now possible to directly observe complicated surface structures. This was demonstrated by the success of unraveling the (7$\times$7)-Si(111) surface structure that had withstood the storm of investigation for over 20 years. We wanted to apply this technique to the study of metallic overlayer structures, a field known for its large variety of structures. The second purpose was to investigate the feasibility and to hopefully develop a simple intuitive approach to metallic overlayer structure prediction, an approach that incorporates explicitly the extended nature of the metallic electron system. The Pb and Bi systems have large numbers of valence electrons per atom. Therefore, the electronic effects are expected to be prominent. The difference between the numbers of valence electrons of the respective atoms is relatively small but significant. This provides an opportunity to observe a quantitative variation of the effects. This study constitutes the first STM investigation of the ordered Pb and Bi structures on Cu(001). Many structural features observed using this technique disagree with the existing models derived from the electron diffraction and other scattering experiments. The differences between our observation and the current structural models are qualitative ones, thus demanding a rethinking and supplementation of the basic ideas involved in the construction of the structural models. Observation of the great similarities between the adsorbed Pb and Bi systems, lead to the new modeling approach. In our discussion, the metal adsorbate layers are described as a simple quasi-two-dimensional metal weakly coupled to the host substrate. This is consistent with the familiar notion that all metals exhibits similar properties. Our detailed analysis also discusses the Brillouin zone mechanism as a new way of lowering the energy of a given structure. In the end it enabled us to justify the occurrence of all the ordered Pb and Bi structures on Cu(001). We propose this simple model as a general approach to predict stable structures of metallic overlayers.

The utilization of poly(styrene-random-methyl methacrylate), P(S-r-MMA), random copolymer brush surfaces to control the structure of polymer films is demonstrated. Random copolymer brush layers were generated by end anchoring the copolymers onto silicon substrates. By dictating the chemical composition of the random copolymer, the resultant brush layer could be precisely tuned to have properties ranging from pure PS to pure PMMA. This was determined by experiments where PS and PMMA homopolymer films showed dewetting behavior characteristic of the interactions between the homopolymer film and the underlying brush layer. Brushes having a styrene fraction of 0.58 have balanced interactions with PS and PMMA and constitute surfaces that are nonpreferential or neutral to PS and PMMA. The influence of interactions between polymer films and random copolymer brush layers is addressed for three systems. First, the interfacial structures of dPS and dPMMA homopolymer films with the brush layer were examined with neutron reflectivity (NR). The interfacial width between the two layers strongly depended upon the interactions between them. Furthermore, it is observed that penetration of dPMMA to the silicon substrate can occur for cases where the brush layer does not provide a sufficient enthalpic or entropic barrier. Second, atomic force microscopy studies (AFM) show that PS/PMMA demixed films had morphologies that varied greatly with substrate interactions. With annealing, some of these structures rearranged significantly while others remained relatively unchanged. The third type of polymer film examined in this study, diblock copolymers constitutes the main focus of this work. Normally, preferential interactions of one block at an interface induce a parallel orientation of the block copolymer domains. By utilizing neutral random copolymers, preferential segregation of each block is eliminated resulting in a perpendicular orientation of block copolymer domains. This was shown for poly(styrene-block-methyl methacrylate), P(S-b-MMA), block copolymers having lamellar and cylindrical morphologies. Using a wide variety of techniques the structural dependence of these films with annealing time and the effects of commensurability were examined. By controlling the growth of these domains, the generation of novel film structures comprised of perpendicular lamellar and cylindrical domains was achieved.

碩士<br>國立陽明大學<br>口腔生物研究所<br>97<br>When a titanium (Ti) implant is placed in human body, blood will be the first component to interact with implant surface, which an immediate blood coagulation process will be activated, helping the continued wound healing and tissue cell growth at the implant site, so one could say blood coagulation is an important first step for the early stage of osseointergration. But the mechanism of blood coagulation process activated by material surfaces is not entirely understood nowadays. Generally speaking as the intrinsic coagulation pathway will be activated by negatively charged Ti material surface, which a blood coagulation factor XII will first be contact-activated, then a chain of coagulation factors will be trigger and reacted, ultimately forming a bunch of fibrin mesh and binding with other activated platelets and red blood cells to form blood clots. However, the mechanism of how the physical, chemical and electrical properties of Ti implant surface effect the coagulation reaction still remains unclear. The aim of this study was to estimate the blood coagulation properties of two kinds of TiO2 crystal structure: anatase and rutile, which happen to have tremendous differences in their surface electrical properties, and by investigating the surface free energy and dielectric constant of both thin film surfaces, we may compare and evaluate the effect of surface electric properties to the hemocompatiblity of TiO2 films. The results show that, after PVD surface modification, although the surface free energy didn’t show obvious difference between anatase and rutile, but along with increase amount of rutile structure, the dielectric constant increased tremendously, as the activation of FXII, adsorption of fibrinogen, formation of fibrin network and adhesion of platelet, all show the same tendency.

In this dissertation, I have studied theoretical problems in statistical physics and electrodynamics of Bose particles, namely, mesoscopic effects in statistics of Bose- Einstein condensate (BEC) of atoms and electromagnetic waveguide effects of planar Bragg structures in Free Electron Lasers. A mesoscopic system of a trapped gas of Bose atoms is the most difficult for the theoretical analysis in quantum statistical physics since it cannot be studied by neither a quantum mechanics of the simple microscopic systems of one or very few atoms nor a standard statistical physics of the macroscopic systems that implies a thermodynamic limit. I present analytical formulas and numerical calculations for the moments and cumulants of BEC fluctuations in both ideal and weakly interacting gas. I analyze the universal scaling and structure of the BEC statistics in a mesoscopic ideal gas in the critical region. I present an exactly solvable Gaussian model of BEC in a degenerate interacting gas and its solution that confirms the universality and constraint-cut-off origin of the strongly non-Gaussian BEC statistics. I consider a two-energy-level trap with arbitrary degeneracy of an upper level and find an analytical solution for the condensate statistics in a mesoscopic ideal gas. I show how to model BEC in real traps by BEC in the two-level or three-level traps. I study wave propagation in the open oversized planar Bragg waveguides, in particular, in a planar metal waveguide with corrugation. I show that a step perturbation in a corrugation phase provides a high selectivity over transverse modes. I present a new Free Electron Laser (FEL) amplifier scheme, in which the radiation is guided by the planar Bragg structure with slightly corrugated walls and a sheet electron beam is traveling at a significant angle to the waveguide axis. By means of nonlinear analysis, I demonstrate that the proposed scheme provides an effective mode filtration and control over the structure of the output radiation and allows one to achieve amplification up to 30 dB in the existing FEL machines.

碩士<br>國立中正大學<br>化學所<br>96<br>We have successfully synthesized the organotungsten Lewis acid, [N(CH2-2-py)3W(CO)(NO)2](BF4)2 (3) in quantitative yield by treating W(CH3CN)3(CO)3 with N(CH2-2-py)3 (tpa) in the presence of 2 equiv. of NOBF4 in CH3CN at 0 oC for 90 minutes. The complex 3 is very moisture- and air-stable. Its crystalline solid form can be stored in air for months and its solution can also stay unchanged for at least 48 hours without detectable decomposition. In addition, complex 3 has a relatively high water-solubility of 37 g/L and possesses strong Lewis acidity upon loss of the CO ligand. The Lewis acidity of [N(CH2-2-py)3W(CO)(NO)2]2+ measured by 1H NMR method falls between those found for AlCl3 and BF3. But the complex [N(CH2-2-py)3W(CO)(NO)2]2+ exhibits very different structures in solid state and in solution. The crystal structure of 3 shows the tpa ligand in its h4-coordination mode bound to the W center. While in solution state, tpa has various coordination possibilities (h3- or h4-interconversion) as suggested by its 1H NMR spectral data. Because the lability of CO ligand, the resulting 16-e species (the real active catalyst) could be further stabilized by the formation of the 4th W－N bonding via a fast h3-to-h4 interconversion. The three-component Biginelli condensation reaction is one of the most widely applied method for the synthesis of 3,4-dihydropyridine-2(1H)-one (DHPMs). This one pot reaction involves the condensation of ethyl acetoacete, aldehyde and urea in the presence of a variety of acidic condensing agents. In this dissertation a series of Biginelli condensation reactions were catalyzed by a novel organotungten Lewis acid [N(CH2-2-py)3W(CO)(NO)2](BF4)2 (3). With the employment of as little as 0.6 mol% of catalyst 3, the condensation reactions were efficiently proceeded in molecular solvent systems such as DMF or in a thermally stable room temperature ionic liquid, BmimPF6 (1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate). We have also investigated the congregating effect of this Lewis acid under microwave irradiation conditions. In all cases, a dramatic reaction rate-enhancement from hours to minutes was observed under microwave irradiation conditions as compared to those found by using thermal heating method. In addition, it has been demonstrated that catalyst 3 can be selective and as effective towards organic base functionality.
