Dréan, Sophie. "Oscillateur de puissance en ondes millimétriques." Thesis, Bordeaux 1, 2012. http://www.theses.fr/2012BOR14726/document.
Full textThis PhD thesis deals with a Power Voltage Controlled Oscillator (VCO) in millimeter waves. The aim is to design this Power VCO in the frequency band used in the standards IEEE 802.15.3c, IEEE 802.11ad and ECMA TC48, meaning from 56GHz to 65GHz. The principle of this oscillator is developed around a power amplifier in a loop, generating an oscillating system. The power amplifier is developed in a two-stage topology. The power stage is composed with a 60GHz class E cascoded amplifier and the driver stage is composed of a 60GHz class F amplifier. The feedback of the loop is based on a vector-modulator. The circuits have been realised in 65nm CMOS technology from STMicroelectronics

Full textThis thesis is dedicated to the control and the observation of a class of switched linear systems (SLS). This class contains the systems that can be represented by a port-Hamiltonian model. A lot of works have been studied SLS for several years using an average modeling approach. Recently, various works have shown that hybrid system theory allows to cope with stabilization, controllability, and observability problems of switched linear systems. However, several problems are still open and need more development such as the design of hybrid observers for SLS that have unobservable modes or the control of systems with reduced number of switching inputs and numerous variable states to control. In this work, we are interested in the design of state observers for a particular class of SLS using both the average and the hybrid port-Hamiltonian models. This formalism has the necessary tools to study and establish the stability of the observation errors. At the beginning, a nonlinear observer based on the average modeling is proposed. Next, a hybrid observer is designed for switched linear systems. This observer takes into account the unobservable operating modes of the system. The second point of our work concerns the design of control laws for the considered class of SLS. At first, two Lyapunov-based control laws have been established using either an average model or a hybrid model of the system. A hybrid optimal control based on the maximum principle of Pontryagin and the computation of singular arcs has been also proposed. Finally, a hybrid predictive control based on a discrete model of the system is synthesized. Simulation results and an experimental implementation on a SEPIC converter are given to show the efficiency of the proposed methods. Our motivation to study such a converter is mainly due to its particular topology that includes observable and unobservable subsystems. It is also known to be difficult to be controlled because only one switching input is used to control four state variables

Full textThis PhD work consists of two parts. The first one is focused on the analysis and compensation of the wave reflection phenomenon that occurs whenever, in the electrical as in the mechanical domain, the mutual interconnection among the constituent subsystems behaves as a transmission line and degrades the expected performances of the whole system. In this respect, we propose an novel compensation framework based on active filters technology that guarantees an attenuation of the wave reflections phenomenon. Although this new compensation approach is electrical systems oriented, a perfect duality with the well-known robotic teleoperation problem shows the generality of our analysis that could be naturally extended to the mechanical and electromechanical domain. The second, and less extensive, part of the manuscript is devoted to extend the well-known mass--inductor spring--capacitor analogy between mechanical and electrical systems. Once defined the limits of such standard analogy, we introduce a new electrical element,“the pseudo-inductor”, physically interpretable as a normal current-controlled inductor with coupling coefficient voltage-controlled. Hence,we give rise to an extension of the Brayton-Moser framework enlarging to possibly non-linear mechanical (Euleur-Lagrangian) systems an electrical counterpart. Furthermore, exploiting the power-based description of such a class of mechanical systems we provide a novel passivity property that open the doors to recent Passivity-Based Control strategies, already and successfully applied in RLC networks, that cope with the supplied power, e. G. , Power Shaping, instead of the internal energy of a system,e. G. ,Energy Shaping

Full textThis report deals with the study of class of amplifiers in order to improve the power efficiency of amplifiers based on AlGaN/GaN and InAlN/GaN HEMT, work-ing around 2 GHz. The analysis of the electrical characteristics of HEMT based on GaN presents the impact of field plates and the drain-gate distance on device's performances. Then, the description of the improvements of each class leads to the design of circuits working in inverse F-class with a measured power added ef-ficiency of 58 % and an output power of 42 W for a frequency of 2 GHz

Full textThis work responds to an increased industrial need for on carrier signals with variable envelope amplification used by current telecommunications systems. These signals have a strong PAPR and an envelope statistical distribution centred below the envelope peak value, the reason why the telecom industrialists then require a robust and reliable high power amplifiers having an energy expenditure along of the envelope dynamics associated with an acceptable level of linearity. This document presents the results of the study and realization of two, high efficiency, Doherty Power Amplifiers (DPA) encapsulated in QFN plastic packages. The first is a conventional Doherty power Amplifier (DPA-SE) and the second is a dual-input Doherty power amplifier (DPA-DE). These C-band demonstrators are based on the use of Quasi-MMIC technology combining power bars based on the AlGaN/GaN transistors on SiC to matching circuits in ULRC technology. The Quasi-MMIC approach combined with Quasi-MMIC approach combined with QFN plastic package solution for better thermal behaviour management offers electrical performances similar to those of MMIC technology with very attractive coasts and manufacturing cycles. During this work, a new evaluation method for the transistors dedicated to the design of DPA was developed and implemented. The intensive use of 2.5D and 3D electromagnetic simulations made it possible to take into account the coupling effects existing between the different circuits in the QFN package environment. The results of the tests of the amplifiers realised and operating on 1GHz bandwidth validated the design method and showed that the advanced concepts associated with the Quasi-MMIC approach as well as plastic encapsulation technologies can generate innovative microwave functions. The characterizations of the DPA-DE have noted the interest inherent in the preformation of the excitation signals and the bias points of each stage of the amplifier

Full textSwitching power management circuits are widely used in battery powered embedded applications in order to increase their autonomy. In particular, for audio applications, Class-D amplifiers are a widespread industrial solution. These, have a similar architecture of a buck converter but having the audio signal as reference. The switching nature of these devices allows us to increase significantly the power efficiency compared to linear audio amplifiers without reducing the audio quality. However, because of the switching behavior, Class-D amplifiers have high levels of electromagnetic (EM) emissions which can disturb the surrounding electronics or might not comply with electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) standards. To overcome this problem much architecture appeared in the state of the art that reduces the emissions, however, this has never been enough to remove electromagnetic interference (EMI) filters. It is then useful to optimize these filters, thus, it has been set as the goal of this PhD thesis. The latter has been divided to four main axes which can be resumed by the following. First, this work started by developing a frequency domain modeling method in order to simulate and predict the EMI of Class-D amplifiers in the final application. The method is based on system to block decomposition and impedance matrix modeling and manipulation. After providing all the theoretical background, the method has been validated on integrated differential Class-D amplifier. The experimental measurements have permitted to validate the method only up to 100MHz. However, this is sufficient to cover the conducted EMC frequency band. Second, the EMI at the supply rails of Class-D amplifiers has been treated. As the battery is often the same power supply for all applications in an embedded system, an EMI filter or a decoupling capacitor is needed to prevent the noise coupling by common impedance. Designing this filter needs the knowledge of the battery impedance at the desired frequencies. Therefore the present work dealt also with measuring the high frequency impedance of a battery. Afterwards, an experimental validation has been carried on with a DC-DC converter and a Class-D amplifier. The developed model allows a virtual test of the switching device in the final application. However, it is more useful if the model is able to help the system integrator in designing filters. Thus, third, the model has been implemented in an optimization loop based on a genetic algorithm in order to optimize the filter response, and also, reduce the additional power losses introduced by an EMI filter. The optimization search space has been limited to the components available on the market and the optimization result is given as component references of the optimal filter referring to the optimal solution found. This procedure has been validated experimentally. Finally, EMI filters often are constituted by magnetic components such as ferrite beads or inductors with magnetic cores. Thus, introducing the EMI filter in the audio path, adds a nonlinear behavior in the audio frequency band. Designing a high quality EMI filter require taking into account this phenomenon and studying its impact of the original amplifier audio performance. Therefore, the Jiles-Atherton model for magnetic materials has been used for ferrite bead modeling. Hereafter, the impact on the time and frequency domain signals has been simulated and compared to measurements. Finally, the total harmonic distortion (THD) has been computed for different signal amplitudes and compared to the THD measured using an audio analyzer. Accurate results have been obtained on a wide range of signal amplitudes. As a conclusion, this work aimed to design optimal EMI filters for Class-D amplifiers. Thus, we dealt with improving their EMI response, reducing their additional power losses and evaluating their impact on the audio quality
Wang, Xusheng. "Ultrasonic Generator for Surgical Applications and Non-invasive Cancer Treatment by High Intensity Focused Ultrasound." Thesis, Université Paris-Saclay (ComUE), 2016. http://www.theses.fr/2016SACLS052/document.
Full textHigh intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) technology is now broadly used for cancer treatment, thanks to its non-invasive property. In a HIFU system, a phased array of ultrasonic transducers is utilized to generate a focused beam of ultrasound (1M~10MHz) into a small area of the cancer target within the body. Most HIFU systems are guided by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in nowadays. In this PhD study, a half-bridge class D power amplifier and an automatic impedance tuning system are proposed. Both the class D power amplifier and the auto-tuning system are compatible with MRI system. The proposed power amplifier is implemented by a printed circuit board (PCB) circuit with discrete components. According to the test results, it has a power efficiency of 82% designed for an output power of 3W at 1.25 MHz working frequency. The proposed automatic impedance tuning system has been designed in two versions: a PCB version and an integrated circuit (IC) version. Unlike the typical auto-impedance tuning networks, there is no need of microprogrammed control unit (MCU) or computer in the proposed design. Besides, without using bulky magnetic components, this auto-tuning system is completely compatible with MRI equipment. The PCB version was designed to verify the principle of the proposed automatic impedance tuning system, and it is also used to help the design of the integrated circuit. The PCB realization occupies a surface of 110cm². The test results confirmed the expected performance. The proposed auto-tuning system can perfectly cancel the imaginary impedance of the transducer, and it can also compensate the impedance drifting caused by unavoidable variations (temperature variation, technical dispersion, etc.). The IC design of the auto-tuning system is realized in a CMOS process (C35B4C3) provided by Austrian Micro Systems (AMS). The die area of the integrated circuit is only 0.42mm². This circuit design can provide a wide working frequency range while keeping a very low power consumption (137 mW). According to the simulation results, the power efficiency can be improved can up to 20% by using this auto-tuning circuit compared with that using the static tuning network

Full textHigh efficiency performances of microwave power amplifiers are reached by implementing proper matching conditions at harmonic components. Harmonic tuned amplifiers offer for the moment the best energy conversion efficiency between DC supply and RF power at fundamental frequency available in a 50 Ω load. In addition to proper harmonic terminations, the minimization of power losses at fundamental frequency in the output RF matching and power combining circuit is of prime importance. This has been widely reported over the past few years. Considering this main aspect GaN technology offers an evident advantage due to its high drain voltage operation capability that is beneficial for designing low loss and wideband output matching circuits. Several works have been reported during the past few years. This work examines power added efficiency improvements by implementing an appropriate gate source voltage waveform shaping of power cells. Analytical calculations, circuit simulations using a nonlinear model of a 15W GaN HEMT and a two stage power amplifier design have been achieved. The power stage operates at high drain bias voltage under class F conditions while the driver stage operates at low drain bias voltage under inverse class F conditions to drive the input of power stage by an appropriate gate source voltage waveform shape. Very good power added efficiency have been reached over a wide frequency bandwidth. This work addresses the amplification of constant envelope signals that do not require any stringent specification in terms of linearity

Salcedo, Castro Myriam. "L’arbitrage dans les contrats publics colombiens." Thesis, Paris 2, 2012. http://www.theses.fr/2012PA020028/document.
Full textEven though Colombian and French administrative law are grounded on the same principles, Colombian administrative law did not adopt the stance that public legal bodies are prevented from agreeing arbitration clauses and submitting their disputes to arbitration. Colombian case law has recognized arbitration clauses in relation to disputes arising out of public contracts, even when there is no specific legal authorization to do so. The principle of the rule of law, the continuity of the provision of public services, the public interest and the existence of a specialized administrative jurisdiction, are the foundations of public contract law. Nevertheless, public contract law is implemented under the aegis of contract law and it shares essential aspects of arbitration law: the autonomy of the parties free will and freedom of contract. Since 1993, Colombian law has not imposed any limit on the arbitration of disputes arising out of public contracts, even if former laws did so. Could this legal progress be construed as granting similar jurisdiction to arbitrators and administrative judges? Is general arbitration law suitable for the needs of the settlement of disputes arising out of public contracts? What is the scope of this change for the international arbitration of disputes arising out of public contracts? Despite the apparent contradictions, the essential tenets of public contracts, do not conflict with the key components of arbitration. The jurisdiction of arbitrators is confined to “contentieux subjectifs”. Colombian case law has developed since 1964 and has been consolidated over time, allowing us to evaluate to what extent the arbitration of disputes arising out of public contracts is an effective and efficient tool for public administration
Lahouazi, Mehdi. "Le développement des modes alternatifs de réglement des différends dans les contrats administratifs." Thesis, Lyon, 2017. http://www.theses.fr/2017LYSE3056.
Full textThe development of alternative dispute resolution in administrative contracts is a necessity. Indeed, the congestion of the administrative courts, combined with the need for a more consensual and calm settlement of disputes, pleads in favour of the emergence of an alternative justice. Nevertheless, the public order governing the activities of public bodies, and protected by imperative norms, requires that the development of alternative methods be regulated. As such, the study of positive law shows that this phenomenon is not unknown in the settlement of disputes concerning administrative contracts. For instance, the parties to a dispute can already freely resort to amicable methods (mediation, conciliation or settlement agreement), and some exceptions to the principle prohibiting public bodies from resorting to arbitration are provided for. However, the voids and shortcomings of the current system of alternative dispute resolution in administrative contracts (lack of proper status of the mediator, paucity of framework for inter partes conciliation, complexity of the concept of reciprocal concessions or, difficulty for the administrative judge to assert its competence in international arbitration...) make its understanding and implementation more complex and more prone to increasing public order violations. It is therefore necessary to propose a sustainable regime of alternative methods to ensure, on the one hand, the protection of peremptory norms of public law and, on the other hand, the freedom of the parties in the choice and conduct of an alternative justice. For that purpose, the future regime will have to authorize arbitration in administrative contracts and endow it with procedural guarantees taking into account its specific nature but also certain characteristics inherent in public entities and administrative law. Furthermore, the mediation and conciliation procedures will have to be improved in order to provide the parties with a flexible framework conducive to the conclusion of balanced and secure settlement agreements. Finally, this regime must definitively establish the role of the administrative judge. To this end, that judge may be called upon to assist the parties in the implementation of alternative methods (creation of an administrative support judge in arbitration, combination of interim reliefs with amicable procedures...). The administrative judge must also be responsible for checking the compliance of the alternative solution to the public order. This attribution of jurisdiction, which is resonates all the more in international arbitration, is fundamental for the protection of the public interest. It is only under these conditions that the development of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms can take its place in administrative contracts
