Abstract:
D. We performed astrometric and multicolor photometric observations of near-Earth asteroids at the SBG telescope of the Kourovka Astronomical Observatory of the Ural Federal University and the Zeiss-1000 telescope of the Simeiz Observatory of INASAN. We improved orbital elements and estimated the A 2 acceleration due to the Yarkovsky effect for asteroids (52768) 1998 OR2, (65690) 1991 DG, (159857) 2004 LJ1, (326732) 2003 HB6, (332446) 2008 AF4, (388945) 2008 TZ3, 2015 NU13 from astrometric observations with the SBG telescope. Furthermore, we estimated the axial rotation periods of the asteroids (137170) 1999 HF1, (159857) 2004 LJ1, (326732) 2003 HB6 from photometric observations with the SBG telescope. We obtained color indices for the asteroids (137170) 1999 HF1, (138127) 2000 EE14, (153591) 2001 SN263, (159857) 2004 LJ1, (326732) 2003 HB6, 2010 TV149 from multicolor photometric observations with the Zeiss-1000 telescope. Furthermore, we estimated the taxonomic classes for three asteroids, according to the color indices: the asteroid (153591) 2001 SN263 has class C, (159857) 2004 LJ1 has class S, and (326732) 2003 HB6 has class D.

Abstract:
Addressing anti-social behaviour (ASB) has been a major policy priority of New Labour since it came to power in 1997. This is reflected in a series of legislative powers enabling a range of agencies to take legal action to tackle ASB (e.g. Crime and Disorder Act 1998; Police Reform Act 2002; Anti-Social Behaviour Act 2003; Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005) and in a number of national policy initiatives (e.g. the Home Office ‘Together’ Campaign, 2003; the Respect Action Plan, 2006; the Youth Task Force Action Plan, 2007). These developments are the subject of a growing body of academic analysis and critique, much of which has focused on the use of the ASB powers in the regulation of particular neighbourhoods and communities, especially social housing areas of predominantly White working-class residents (Burney, 2005; Flint, 2006), and of young people, again mostly White and working class (Squires and Stephen, 2005). Specific service or practice developments arising out of ASB policy have also been analysed, for example, Family Intervention Projects (Nixon et al., 2006, 2008), Anti-Social Behaviour Teams (Prior et al., 2006), and the use of ASBOs (Squires, 2006; Matthews et al., 2007) and Dispersal Orders (Crawford and Lister, 2007).

Abstract:
Although the high-performance computing (HPC) community increasingly embraces object-oriented programming (OOP), most HPC OOP projects employ the C++ programming language. Until recently, Fortran programmers interested in mining the benefits of OOP had to emulate OOP in Fortran 90/95. The advent of widespread compiler support for Fortran 2003 now facilitates explicitly constructing object-oriented class hierarchies via inheritance and leveraging related class behaviors such as dynamic polymorphism. Although C++ allows a class to inherit from multiple parent classes, Fortran and several other OOP languages restrict or prohibit explicit multiple inheritance relationships in order to circumvent several pitfalls associated with them. Nonetheless, what appears as an intrinsic feature in one language can be modeled as a user-constructed design pattern in another language. The present paper demonstrates how to apply the facade structural design pattern to support a multiple inheritance class relationship in Fortran 2003. The design unleashes the power of the associated class relationships for modeling complicated data structures yet avoids the ambiguities that plague some multiple inheritance scenarios.

Abstract:
<strong></strong></p><div> </div>

Abstract:
A wide variety of definitions of the working class are in use across disciplines and even within working-class studies (Cohen 2001; Zweig 2001; Metzgar 2003; Wilson 2016; Wilson and Roscigno 2018). Responding to Zweig’s (2016) call to maintain continuity in thinking about the working class in working-class studies by recognizing that ‘the working class continues to exist in capitalist societies, within capitalist class dynamics, in which the organization of production underlies material, cultural, and political experience’ (14), I delineate several definitions of the working class and take a close look at three operationalizations of the working class by occupational aggregations, one each suggested by Metzgar (2003) and Cohen (2001) and one I define, inspired by Florida (2002). Using 2017 American Community Survey data, I compare the demographics and geography of the working class through each of these definitions. I illustrate that by many definitions, the working class is a broad and diverse group of workers who live and work in rural, urban, and suburban places, while inequalities both within the working class and between it and other social classes remain pressing issues for investigation. This paper provides a guide for understanding definitions of the working class that will be useful for working-class studies scholars from all disciplines, regardless of methodologies.

Abstract:
BackgroundCross-sectional surveys of older people commonly find associations between higher levels of depressive symptoms and poorer cognitive performance, but the direction of effect is unclear. We examined whether there was a bidirectional relationship between depressive symptoms and general cognitive ability in non-demented older people, and explored the role of physical health, smoking, exercise, social class and education as potential confounders of this association and as possible determinants of the rate of change of cognitive decline and depressive symptoms.MethodThe English Longitudinal Study of Ageing consists of people aged 50 years and over. Cognitive function and self-reported depressive symptoms were measured in 2002–2003, 2004–2005, 2006–2007 and 2008–2009. We fitted linear piecewise models with fixed knot positions to allow different slopes for different age groups. Analyses are based on 8611 people.ResultsMean cognitive function declined with age; there was no trend in the trajectory of depressive symptoms. Better cognitive function was associated with less depression up to the age of 80 years. Greater depression was associated with a slightly faster rate of cognitive decline but only in people aged 60–80 years. There were no consistent associations across age groups between sex, smoking, education, social class, exercise or number of chronic physical illnesses and the rate of change of cognitive decline or depressive symptoms.ConclusionsIn this longitudinal study of older people, there was no consistent evidence that being more depressed led to an acceleration in cognitive decline and no support for the hypothesis that there might be reciprocal dynamic influences between cognitive ability and depressive symptoms.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT In this paper, we aim to shed light on the theoretical-analytical contributions obtained from the articulation of the dialogical perspective of language (BAKHTIN, 2000) and its performative view (BUTLER, 2003; BAUMAN; BRIGGS, 2008). The investigation is informed by a socioconstructionist epistemology of discourse and social identities (MOITA LOPES; 2006), and guided by the applied studies of language in situated contexts (RAMPTON, 2006) with a view to establishing a dialogue between local interaction and translocal/transhistorical dimensions. We begin by problematising the constructs of language, subject, reality and knowledge, key to any politically engaged research aimed at inventing alternatives for issues of contemporary life. We then present an analysis of the corporeal-discursive identitary performance of a teacher giving her demonstration class in a public selection as a way of illustrating our theoretical framework.

Abstract:
Purpose In Italy, the spread of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) testing varies in different areas. A peak of incidence was reached in 2003-2004 in some areas, while in others the incidence is still increasing. Mortality has declined since 1999 in some areas, while it remains stable in others. We compared mortality and the risk of advanced cancer over 2 periods (1996-1998; 2005-2007) and by geographic area characterized by a different spread of PSA, to understand the possible impact of PSA on the epidemiology of prostate cancer. Methods In 8 Italian Cancer Registries (CRs), 4,632 cases diagnosed over 2 periods, 1996-1998 and 2005-2007, were sampled to assess risk class. The CRs were classified into late and early phase of PSA testing depending on whether an incidence peak had been reached by 2008. Incidence by risk class was estimated based on overall incidence in each CR and on risk class distribution in the sample. We calculated standardized mortality (MRR) and risk class-specific incidence rate ratios (IRR) to compare the 2 periods. Results Incidence increased from 1996-1998 to 2005-2007 (IRR 1.5; 95% CI 1.4, 1.6). High-risk and metastatic cancer incidence decreased only in late-phase areas (IRR 0.78; 95% CI 0.69, 0.88; and 0.40; 95% CI 0.30, 0.54, respectively), while in early-phase areas, incidence remained virtually stable (IRR 1.2; 95% CI 1.0, 1.4; and 0.77; 95% CI 0.59, 1.0, respectively). Mortality decreased only in late-phase areas (MRR 0.81; 95% CI 0.85, 0.97; vs 1.1; 95% CI 0.92, 1.2) in early-phase areas. Conclusions Mortality reduction and a decrease in high-risk and metastatic cases occurred simultaneously only in areas in late phase of PSA spread.

Abstract:
Background This study aimed to examine the evolution of genotypic drug resistance prevalence in treatment-failing patients in the multicentre, Italian, Antiretroviral Resistance Cohort Analysis (ARCA). Methods Patients with a drug resistance genotype test performed between 1999 and 2006 at failure of a combination antiretroviral therapy and with complete treatment history were selected. The prevalence of resistance was measured overall, per calendar year, per drug class and per treatment line at failure. Results The overall resistance prevalence was 81%. Resistance to nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs) declined after 2002 (68% in 2006; χ2 for trend P=0.004); resistance to non-NRTIs (NNRTIs) stabilized after 2004; and resistance to protease inhibitors (PIs) declined after 2001 (43% in 2006; P=0.004). In first-line failures, NRTI resistance decreased after 2002 ( P=0.006), NNRTI resistance decreased after 2003 ( P=0.001) and PI resistance decreased after 2001 ( P<0.001). Independent predictors of resistance to any class were HIV type-1 transmission by heterosexual contacts as compared with injecting drug use, a higher number of experienced regimens, prior history of suboptimal therapy, higher viral load and CD4+ T-cell counts, more recent calendar year and viral subtype B carriage, whereas the use of PI-based versus NNRTI-based regimens at failure was associated with a reduced risk of resistance. There was an increase of type-1 thymidine analogue and of protease mutations L33F, I47A/V, I50V and I54L/M, whereas L90M decreased over calendar years. Conclusions During more recent years, emerging drug resistance has decreased, particularly in first-line failures. The prevalence continues to be high in multiregimen-failing patients.

Abstract:
Existing analytical frameworks for the study of Israel’s political sociology and political economy tend to view the Israeli society as polarized into a neo-liberal secular and peace-seeking elite and religious ethno-republican social groups. The turn to ethno-republicanism following the outbreak of the Second Intifada in 2000, and two neo-liberal economic programs in 2002 and 2003, exposed the limitations of those approaches. We suggest that a Neo-Gramscian approach provides a better theoretical framework for the analysis of the early years of the twenty-first century. We argue that during the years 2001–2006 a hegemonic project was constituted which succeeded in combining neo-liberal and ethno-republican elements. This project was based on a relatively stable socio-political alignment of social groups, primarily drawn from the Jewish middle class. In order to establish our argument, we characterize the project and analyze the position of the main social groups in Israeli society relative to it.

Abstract:
The research aimed to find out the effect of Herringbone Technique on students’ reading comprehension at grade eight of SMP Negeri 7 Pematangsiantar. There are also several main theories used to support this research, namely; Brassel and Rasinski (2008), Cahyono et. al. (2011), Deegan (2006), Pang et. al. (2003), Patel and Jain (2008), Richards and Renandya (2002), Sweet and Snow (2003). This research was designed as a quantitative method with quasi-experimental research design. Eight students’of 4 and 5 were selected as the participants. The experimental class was treated using Herringbone Technique while the control class was not treated using Herringbone Technique. The data were obtained through pre-test, treatment, and post-test. The pre-test was held to know the students’ basic ability or score before treatment was given. Meanwhile, the post test was held to know the students’ achievement and significant effect after the students’ were taught using Herringbone Technique. The data shows that the difference or the improvement as the whole students’ got in post test from control to experimental group is 345 or 11,5 point in average. The score of t-test (7,17) is higher than t-table (1,67) at the level of significance 5% for two tailed test, so Alternative Hypothesis is accepted and Null Hypothesis is rejected. Finally, by knowing the result, it is better if English teachers apply Herringbone Technique to improve the students’ achievement on reading comprehension.

Abstract:
Research exploring the role of English in Pakistani education system usually focuses on the use of English as the medium of instruction. However, in this paper I argue that English language should also be discussed in the context of its indispensibility in social mobility and survival in Pakistan. In fact, English plays a number of crucial roles in some developing countries, of which Pakistan is one (Mansoor, 2003; Rahman, 2002). In Pakistan, English is one of the official languages and a prerequisite for professional jobs (Rahman, 2005). Because of its use in the domains of power, English can be seen as a source of self-improvement and as a means of career success (Mansoor, 2003; Rahman, 2002). Thus, the knowledge of English is a key indicator of social class and people consider it superior to other languages (Shamim, 2008). However, the use of English in education is one of the main sources of failure for many ordinary people (Bruthiaux, 2002). English is used as a control mechanism to play a gate-keeping role in access to higher education and key social positions (Coleman, 2010; Rahman, 2002). The imposition of English in education and its perceived prestige create additional problems for low socioeconomic status (SES) students who often have limited access to English.

Determination of Neonatal Death in Low Birth Weight Infants in Indonesia (Data Analysis of IDHS 2002-2003 and 2007) Introduction. There were 72.4% infants with less than 2.500 grams Low Birth Weight (LBW) babies diedin their neonatal period in Indonesia. An understanding of all factors that influenced the neonatal deathis important. Therefore, this study was conducted to identify factors of LBW neonatal death between 1997and 2007. Methods. Based on 2002-2003 and 2007 Indonesia Demographic Health Survey, 1,232 LBW babies areselected. The design of study was cohort prospectif with cox proportional hazard analysis to measure therelationship between neonatal death and its determinants maternal, infant, health care, and mother’ssocial demographic. Resuls. After controlling all the variables, the result showed that neonatal death in LBW babiesdeteriminants are immediate breastfeeding, birth weight, sex, the term of birth, complications duringpregnancy, delivery complications, birth attendance, type of delivery, place of delivery, wealth index, andmother’s education. Variable that showed strongest risk association is complications during pregnancywith HR = 4.12 (95 % CI : 0.64- 26,65; p value = 0.307). Meanwhile, the strongest of protectiveassociation is middle class on wealth index variable. Conclusions. The study concluded that birth weight influences the incidence of neonatal death.Determinant that have the greatest effect on neonatal death is complications during pregnacy. Infantswho born from middle-class economic categories are the most protective factor to avoid neonatal deathsamong other wealth indexes.

Abstract:
Foliar applications of 3 pyrethroid insecticides were made to flue-cured tobacco and compared with Bacillus thuringiensis Berliner (Bt) bait and sprays of acephate and spinosad for control of the tobacco budworm, Heliothis virescens (F.), in 2001, 2002, and 2003. Lambda-cyhalothrin, cyfluthrin, and bifenthrin provided significant control of tobacco budworm when compared with untreated checks in all 3 yrs; however, they were generally less efficacious than the other insecticides tested. The level of control among the pyrethroids differed significantly within years but was inconsistent from year to year. The severity of tobacco budworm feeding damage was recorded for individual plants in each treatment, and damage averaged over pyrethroid treatments was 54.17% lower than the untreated control in 2001 and 79.84% lower in 2003. Pyrethroid treatments had no impact on yield of cured leaf in 2001 or 2003 compared with controls. The use of pyrethroid insecticides in flue-cured tobacco will increase the selection pressure placed on tobacco budworm populations in North Carolina. As a result, resistance to this class of insecticides may develop at an accelerated rate.

Abstract:
BackgroundAlthough the military is considered to be a stressful occupation, there are remarkably few studies that compare the prevalence of common mental disorder (CMD) between the military and the general population. This study examined the prevalence of probable CMD in a serving UK military sample compared to a general population sample of employed individuals.MethodData for the general population was from the 2003 and 2008 collections for the Health Survey for England (HSE) and for the serving military from phases 1 (2004–2006) and 2 (2007–2009) of the King's Centre for Military Health Research (KCMHR) cohort study. Probable CMD was assessed by the General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-12). The datasets were appended to calculate the odds of CMD in the military compared to the general population.ResultsThe odds of probable CMD was approximately double in the military, when comparing phase 1 of the military study to the 2003 HSE [odds ratio (OR) 2.4, 95% confidence interval (CI) 2.1–2.7], and phase 2 to the 2008 HSE (OR 2.3, 95% CI 2.0–2.6) after adjustment for sex, age, social class, education and marital status.ConclusionsServing military personnel are more likely to endorse symptoms of CMD compared to those selected from a general population study as employed in other occupations, even after accounting for demographic characteristics. This difference may be partly explained by the context of the military study, with evidence from previous research for higher reports of symptoms from the GHQ in occupational compared to population studies, in addition to the role of predisposing characteristics.

<p class="Abstract">In the information age, media has become an important tool to seek information for clarity but it is paradoxical. This study shows whether documentaries are projecting skepticism and sarcasm of Iraqi people due to volatile, uncertain complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) conditions or projecting VUCA discourses for the restoration of peace and harmony. The object of this study consists of Oscar-winning and Oscar-nominated documentary films from 2003 to 2011 with a total of 45 films. The year 2003 is selected for its demarcation of U.S.-led invasion of Iraq which started in March 2003 and toppled over the government of Saddam Hussein. The year 2011 denotes the end with the departure of US troops in 2011. Through the criterion sampling, four films are selected that depict Iraq and all the four got nomination for Oscar that include: Iraq in Fragments (2006-Nomination); My Country My Country (2006-N); No End in Sight (2007-N); Operation Homecoming: Writing the Wartime Experience (2007-N). Abstract:
This article analyses the controversy on the topics of prostitution and human trafficking online by way of researching the structure and discourses of non-commercial websites. Previous research (Agustín, 2005; Doezema, 2000; Freedman, 2003; Kelly, 2005) has shown that general-public, media and theoretical discussions tend to dichotomize the two phenomena, reconfirming the dividing lines between them. Realities are much more complex, pointing to the inadequacy of the division and to the interchangeable relations between the phenomena that are manifested at the intersection of economic, social and political developments determined by gender, ethnicity and class inequality (Pajnik, 2008, 2010). We explore in this article whether online discourses and debates reinforce the divide or, alternatively, provide new approaches to treating prostitution and trafficking as interrelated phenomena, because they are, increasingly, becoming migration and labour (economic and social) issues in the wider sense.

Abstract:
International undergraduate study programs give students an advantage in the job market, broaden their understanding of and experience with other cultures, and allow them to develop professional international contacts. Since 2003, faculty and administrators in the Department of Horticulture at Auburn University have been providing horticultural study tours for faculty and undergraduate and graduate students in horticulture. In 2003 and 2004, undergraduate students and faculty participated in an about 10-day non-credit study tour of gardens in London and southeastern England. In 2005, undergraduate students, a graduate student, and faculty participated in an 8-day non-credit study tour of gardens, horticultural production facilities, and natural ecosystems in Costa Rica. All of these tours in 2003 to 2005 occurred during the break between spring and summer semesters. In 2005, a 6-week study abroad program (1 June to 15 July) was offered at a college in northwestern England. Students received 13 hours of credit for four classes: Landscape Gardening, History of Garden Design, International Agriculture Seminar, and Herbaceous Plant Materials. In addition to class time, trips were arranged each week to regional gardens and retail and production facilities. Plans for 2006 include a week-long non-credit study tour of gardens and production areas in The Netherlands during the break between spring and summer semesters, a 2-week study tour of government, university, and agricultural production areas in Hungary in July (offered in conjunction with the College of Agriculture), and a repeat offering of the study abroad program in England.

Snowstar is a hard white spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) that represents an improvement in end-use quality specifications of the Canada Western Hard White Spring wheat class compared with Snowbird. Snowstar was evaluated in the Central Bread Wheat Cooperative Test in 2003, and the Hard White Wheat Cooperative Test in 2004 and 2005. Snowstar appears best adapted to the longer season wheat-growing areas of the Canadian prairies. Snowstar was generally lower yielding than the check cultivars. However, in Zone 1 (Manitoba and eastern Saskatchewan), Snowstar had 2% higher grain yield than CDC Teal (2003–2005) and 1.5% more than Snowhite475 (2004–2005). In 2003 and 2005 (Zone 1), Snowstar had grain yield approximately 3% more than Snowbird (data not shown). Snowstar was resistant or moderately resistant to the prevalent races of leaf rust and stem rust. Snowstar was susceptible to common bunt and loose smut. Snowstar was generally more resistant to Fusarium head blight than the check cultivars. Snowstar had higher test weight, flour yield and whiter flour as well as stronger dough compared with Snowbird.

Abstract:
One of the problems faced by the teacher is the passivity of students in class, in group study in class to express opinions, it can be said that the students' abilities are not yet fluent. not optimal, Indonesian learning achievement is still low, especially in formative tests, summative students are not yet brave enough to answer questions or express opinions, the use of models or approaches in learning is not maximized. The research model is a procedure that describes how this research is carried out. In this class action research, the researcher used the action research model developed by Kemmis and McTaggart (1990:11). Based on the success indicator, namely 75% of the class population scored above the KKM, the action in cycle II was successful. As many as 16 students (88.89%) scored above the KKM. The learning process is further improved, namely students have done peer tutoring and students are more active in learning activities with the teacher. Giving material that has been repeated makes students understand more about the material presented by the teacher. Students who better understand the meaning of the activities carried out by the teacher help friends who do not understand. Thus cooperative learning is achieved. In the pre-action, the dialogue writing skills of class III MI Puloerang Lakbok students were still low. Students who can achieve KKM only 3 children (16.67%). After carrying out the STAD type cooperative learning actions in the first cycle, it produced 8 students (44.44%). Furthermore, in cycle II, there were 16 students (88.89%) who succeeded in achieving the KKM. BIBLIOGRAPHY Anita Lie. 2002. Cooperative Learning. Jakarta: Gramedia. Dimyati dan Mudjiono.2009. Abstract:
During the 1990s, the Argentine working class was hard-hit by the neoliberal offensive, which reversed many of the gains previously won. The decade saw a serious degradation of living conditions and an increase in inequality as a consequence of unemployment and precarious work. After the economic crisis of 2001, labor unions were strengthened by a decline in unemployment and the reactivation of collective bargaining. At the same time, the crisis generated a questioning of the traditional union leadership and the emergence of grassroots organizations (internal committees and bodies of delegates) that introduced democratic decision making to the workplace in accordance with developments at the time in the community assemblies, movements of unemployed workers, and recovered factories. During Néstor Kirchner’s presidency, these organizations led union struggles that had a strong political and social impact and even achieved coordination among themselves outside of the organic labor union groups.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT We examine contagion in earnings management using 2,376 restatements announced during the years 1997–2008. Controlling for industry and firm characteristics, firms are more likely to begin managing earnings after the public announcement of a restatement by another firm in their industry or neighborhood. Such contagion is absent when the restating firm is disciplined by the SEC or class action lawsuits, suggesting deterrent effects of enforcement activity. Contagion among peers is observed (1) in the same account as the one restated by the target firm, or (2) when larger target firms restate or the restatement is prominently disclosed, or (3) when the target firm's restatement is less severe. Contagion stops during the years 2003–2005, possibly due to the enforcement associated with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX), but reappears during 2006–2008, perhaps because the sting associated with SOX has worn off. In sum, peers' actions appear to affect a firm's earnings management decisions.

Abstract:
The present ETRS 89 realisations in Latvia and Lithuania are based on the EUREF‐BAL'92 campaign, which has an estimated accuracy of the same level as the original EUREF 89 campaign (class C). Latvia and Lithuania wish to replace their EUREF‐BAL'92 realisation with an ETRS 89 realisation based on the NKG 2003 GPS campaign. The NKG 2003 GPS campaign was carried out in GPS-week 1238 (Sept 28th to Oct 4th 2003) under the framework of the Nordic Geodetic Commission (NKG). The campaign included mainly permanent stations in the Nordic and Baltic area as well as Island, Greenland and Svalbard. In Latvia, Lithuania and Denmark also field sites defining ETRS 89 were included. New ETRS 89 coordinates based on the NKG 2003 campaign have been calculated. The campaign resulted in a set of coordinates in ITRF 2000 epoch 2003.75. All stations in Latvia and Lithuania as well as a sub-set of stations in neighbouring countries were converted to ETRS 89 using the standard procedure described by Boucher and Altamimi. No intraplate deformations have been taken into account, thus the epoch of the ETRS 89 coordinates is 2003.75. Estimated accuracy: 0,5–1 cm (95%) for the horizontal co-ordinates and 1–2 cm (95%) for the vertical at the epoch of the observation. The computed ETRS 89 coordinates presented in this paper are to be considered as improvement and extension of ETRS 89 in Latvia and Lithuania based on the NKG 2003 GPS campaign. During symposia in Riga, 14–17 June 2006, the IAG Reference Frame Sub-commission for Europe (EUREF) recognising, that in Sept-Oct 2003 the EUREF-NKG-2003 campaign in Scandinavia and the Baltic countries was observed, including points in Latvia and Lithuania, and that the results of it were submitted to the EUREF Technical Working Group, where they were accepted as Class B standard (about 1 cm at the epoch of observation), endorses the subset of points submitted to the EUREF Technical Working Group as extension to the current realisation of ETRS89 (Resolution No 1).

Abstract:
AbstractObjectiveTo examine changes in breast-feeding take-up rates among young children in Scotland and to assess whether maternal education or occupation-based social class is a stronger and better predictor of breast-feeding take-up.DesignBinary logistic regression models were developed from the first sweep of the Growing Up in Scotland longitudinal survey, for the two cohorts of children.SettingA national representative survey for Scotland.SubjectsA baby cohort of 5012 singletons born over a 12-month period between June 2004 and May 2005, and a toddler cohort of 2732 singletons born over a 12-month period between June 2002 and May 2003.ResultsMothers from more privileged social classes and those with more educational qualifications resulted as more likely to breast-feed. However, maternal education was a better and more robust predictor of breast-feeding take-up compared with social class. There were no significant differences in breast-feeding take-up between the two cohorts and only minor differences between mothers aged 20–29 years and those who stated an intention to bottle-feed prior to birth.ConclusionsThe study suggests that the importance of maternal education in influencing breast-feeding has been somewhat overlooked in research based in more developed countries. The results indicate that, compared with occupation-related social class, maternal education is a more informative, accurate and useful lens through which to understand and explain patterns of breast-feeding take-up.

Abstract:
An assessment was conducted for our departmental internship class (HORT 2010) for 1999–2003. With rare exceptions, all students majoring in Horticulture must complete 3 credits of HORT 2010, based on 480 hours of approved work, reports, a seminar, and evaluations. The course is graded pass/fail. An internship requirement was added to the Landscape Contracting major in 2000–01. Enrollment in HORT 2010 was greatest among students in the Turf Management option (TURF) in 3 of 5 years. Over the 5-year period, females averaged 27% of the enrollment in HORT 2010, in part because there was only one female TURF student. The mode for earned hours completed just before the semester of enrollment in HORT 2010 was 97, thus classing the typical intern as a rising Senior. Only 8% of the interns failed to graduate. A total of 126 students interned at 109 different sites, with 70% interning within Oklahoma. Four Oklahoma employers accounted for 23% of all internship employment. Feedback has led to documented program improvements, e.g., `Bilingual Horticultural Communications' was made available on campus via distance education in Spring, 2001; `Turfgrass Integrated Pest Management' was created and added to the TURF option sheet for 2001-2002; and `Personnel and Financial Management for Horticulture' was created and approved in 2005. In a 2000 alumni survey, 100% of responding, employed Horticulture alumni (19 of 19) rated their internship as helpful. The program has worked well and has contributed to student success.

Abstract:
The Manila clam, Ruditapes philippinarum, introduced in the Venice lagoons in 1983 and rapidly spread to the nearby coastal lagoons represents one of the most important commercially-exploited resources of this area. Abundance, size-class and biomass distribution of the wild population living in the Pialassa Baiona lagoon were assessed and related to the hydrological and sediment characteristics. Despite the lagoon being affected by eutrophication, chemical and thermal pollution, the clams were harvested by about thirty professional fishermen until 2003. The commercially available stock was estimated at 36.8 10 3 kg in July 2002, 29.3 10 3 kg in April 2003, and 10.3 10 3 kg in October 2003. Stock estimations and observed mortality were in good accordance with the fishermen data. The decline of the available stock could be due to both overfishing and the extraordinary summer heat wave occurred in 2003, which may have reduced larval recruitment and increased the mortality. Overall, the juvenile recruitment appeared insufficient to annually restore the natural stock. Although the national and regional high relevance of clams market, local harvesting of wild populations appeared marginal and inadequate to support a remunerative commercial activity, due to the variability and unpredictability of the annual yield and the lack of a sustainable management based on a production chain’s approach.

Abstract:
In recent years, elementary school preservice teachers often have a fieldwork experience before student teaching. However, the quality of these experiences varies greatly (Wilson, Floden, and Ferrini-Mundy 2002). What supports a good fieldwork experience? Certainly we want students to be taught in classrooms in which they are asked to reason, represent, and communicate. At the University of Michigan–Dearborn, we strive to find these sorts of placements—first, by working with districts using reform-based materials and, second, by asking local district leaders to identify exemplary teachers. Moreover, our future teachers have experienced inquiry-based lessons in the mathematics and science courses they take as university students. Even with this careful design, when we observe classrooms in the field we find that future teachers focus on surface aspects rather than on mathematical thinking. This experience concurs with the findings of Moore (2003) and Putnam and Borko (2000), who found that novices focus on management and procedures, not on learning. So we asked ourselves, How do we sharpen the future teachers' focus?

In many grammatical descriptions, ideophones are often ignored. In this paper, I attempt to do a preliminary study of ideophones in the Kru language family (Niger Congo). Though data is limited, I give an overview of various phonological, morphophonological, syntactic and semantic features of this word class, as well as make some initial observations of ideophone use in discourse. Primarily a descriptive study, I try to interact with some major claims in the literature (Blench 2010a; 2010b; Bodomo 2006; Childs 1996; 2001; 2003; 2019; Dingemanse 2012; 2019; Welmers 1973), especially in regard to African languages.

Abstract:
Payne et al. (Can. J. Fish. Aquat. Sci. 66: 869–872, 2009) raised several points concerning the handling and interpretation of data that went into an analysis of the population dynamics of Georges Bank haddock that suggested a relationship between the fall phytoplankton bloom and recruitment (Can. J. Fish. Aquat. Sci. 65: 1076–1086, 2008). Their main points were the manner in which logarithmic transforms were applied, whether the 2003 year class was truly as large as estimated in a 2006 assessment, and if correlation analyses of zooplankton data should be reconsidered. The reply to these comments was aided by a new assessment which provided additional years of data and improved the quality of the recruitment time series. The reply analyses showed that the relationships were robust to the way the logarithmic transform was applied, the initial estimates of the size of the 2003 year class were correct, and relationships between recruitment and spring zooplankton biomass levels remain statistically insignificant. From these new analyses, the interpretations and conclusions reached in the original paper remain the same; the fall bloom has emerged as a candidate explanatory variable for the stock independent variation in haddock recruitment on Georges Bank.
