Abstract:
The Greek civilization is considered one of the most important and oldest civilizations of the ancient world because of the human, intellectual and cultural data it provided that contributed to the advancement of ancient societies and civilizations, especially those that later came under the control of the Greeks in Asia Minor, Egypt, Mesopotamia and others. Greek architecture enjoyed a uniqueness and identity that is unparalleled, as the ancient Greeks made their capital (Athens) a radiant center of thought, philosophy and culture to suit those human values until that architecture became a special feature of the beauty of construction and formation and what it possesses of sculptural supplements, murals and others The current research dealt with those bright stations of Greek architecture and on three scientific topics. The first topic included the study of civilization and architecture, and the city and civilization arose that distinguished the Greeks from others. Studying the architecture of the Greek temples in the early periods, including the Temple of (Apollo), the Temple of (Parthenon) and others. As for the civil architecture, the researcher classified it into the architecture of palaces, including the study of the well-known (Knossos) palace, the architecture of houses, and theaters. As for the third topic, the researcher dealt with the study of Greek architecture and the civilizations of the ancient world, especially after the conquest of Alexander the Great to many vast areas within the Nile Valley and the Mesopotamian Valley up to Persia. Abstract:
Abstract“Civilization” is surely among those concepts that are the most widely used in world political discourse but taken least seriously by contemporary social science. We argue for jettisoning this concept’s Huntingtonian baggage, which has led scholarship into a dead end, and developing a new body of theory on a different foundation, one grounded strongly in recent nonprimordial theories of identity and micro-level research into how ordinary people actually understand the civilizational appeals made by their elites. In what we believe to be the first systematic survey-based study of individual-level civilizational identification, we establish proof-of-concept by asking a question: What influences individuals’ primary identification of their own country with particular civilizational alternatives offered up by their elites? Pooling survey data gathered in Russia from 2013–2014, we confirm that civilizational identity reflects the influence of situational considerations and social construction processes. Whether individuals see Russia as part of purported “European,” “Eurasian,” or “Asian” civilizations depends heavily on gendered and nongendered socialization during the USSR period and factors as contingent as perceived economic performance. Results also confirm our expectation that Huntingtonian concepts fit poorly with real-world patterns of civilizational identification.

The article uses case studies of Joseph Beuys to show that the ethical perfectiorism developed by Karol Wojtyła is an adequate response to anti-civilizational actions, and that Beuys' actions as a lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Düsseldorf were precisely anti-civilizational in nature. In addition, the influence of the concept of “marching through institutions” was pointed out, which strongly influences civilizational struggles in societies – especially democratic ones. On this basis, it was shown that perfectiorism is one of the key concepts that can play a key role in civilization struggles on the ground of institutions.

AbstractThis article examines the interrelationship and interactions between the notions of Son of Heaven and Son of God with respect to sacral kingship in Inner and East Asia by first uncovering a previously unnoticed synthesis of the two in ancient Inner Asia. The author argues that the Chinese belief of “heaven” and related political and religious concepts may share a common origin with parallel notions in Altaic cultures, possibly intertwined with Indo-European elements. Nevertheless, by studying theophoric names, which existed in all major Old World civilizations except early China, he demonstrates the distinctness of Chinese civilization, as well as the extensive pre-Islamic Iranic influences in East Asia.

Abstract:
The article considers the Russian civilization as a socio-cultural community that includes different civilizational formations, the fact that determines its heterogeneous nature. An indicator of the heterogeneity of a society is its social structure, with civilisational rifts present - such an opposition of individual structural elements that has a civilizational character. In modern Russia, three civilizational rifts can be recorded. The first of them is based on the existence in the country of different levels of technical and technological development and, accordingly, of the nature and content of laborur of the population. The second rift is due to the material differentiation of the society: from the standard of living (on the threshold and beyond the poverty threshold) to the possession of multibillion fortunes, that leads to a deep difference in the quality of life of the population, that is an attributive feature of various civilizations. The third rift is related to the historically uneven development of the regions. Along with the regions that have entered or are already at the informational stage of development (they are in minority), most of the regions are at the industrial stage, and in some regions, a pre-industrial agrarian society with stable traditional values still prevails. Accordingly, informational, industrial and traditional subcivilizations coexist in the vastness of Russia. Property relations are considered among the significant factors of civilizational development. Property relations are first of all economic and juridical (legal) relations. Property as a social relation carries the historically stipulated content of the moral norms, justice, individual and social benefit. Property is embodied not only in legal forms, but also in customs, cultural patterns, habits, types of thinking and behavioral models. In Russia, the property right of an individual has always been oriented towards "internal justice", correlated in the public and individual consciousness with the prevailing ideas of the proper. Whereas in Western civilization there has been entrenched the priority of public relations based on the protected by law private interest of an individual. The reorientation of property relations in Russia to the Western model, including in the memory of our contemporaries, has not been a success due to the traditionally strong etacratic influences, the dominance of the “power-property” relationship.

Abstract:
Environmental determinism is often used to explain past social collapses and to predict the future of modern human societies. We assess the availability of natural resources and the resulting carrying capacity (a basic concept of environmental determinism) through a toy model based on Hurst–Kolmogorov dynamics. We also highlight the role of social cohesion, and we evaluate it from an entropic viewpoint. Furthermore, we make the case that, when it comes to the demise of civilizations, while environmental influences may be in the mix, social dynamics is the main driver behind their decline and eventual collapse. We examine several prehistorical and historical cases of civilization collapse, the most characteristic being that of the Minoan civilization, whose disappearance c. 1100 BC has fostered several causative hypotheses. In general, we note that these hypotheses are based on catastrophic environmental causes, which nevertheless occurred a few hundred years before the collapse of Minoans. Specifically, around 1500 BC, Minoans managed to overpass many environmental adversities. As we have not found justified reasons based on the environmental determinism for when the collapse occurred (around 1100 BC), we hypothesize a possible transformation of the Minoans’ social structure as the cause of the collapse.

Colonialism has impacted on Islamic Law as well as Islamic civilization. Islam has a dissonant relationship with modernity in that it agrees with central aspects of this epochal phenomenon and parts ways with others. The compatibility issues were raised by the Muslim thinkers. Many Muslim scholars have contributed to give an original understanding of message of Islam detached from sectarian influences. Traditions are considered to be the vehicle for the transference of factors to modernity with a strong role in determining power and culture of a civilization. Thus, they pave the way for the power tools of a civilization. The theories of Muslim scholars from Asia and Egypt are discussed to elaborate the Muslim understanding of facing the challenges of modernity. The contemporary scholars’ views are also added with an analysis of their observation on compatibility of Islam with modern era challenges and the criticism on it due to their modernity conception.

Abstract:
The author of the article notes the obvious contradiction of our time, which consists in the fact that the rapid development of technology is combined with an increase in political tension, escalation of violence, and an eschatological feeling of extreme depletion of environmental and civilizational resources. This testifies to the crisis state of civilization, which can be more accurately described as a crisis of man himself. Based on the principle of the interdependence of anthropology and culture, the author proposes to include in the orbit of theological understanding not only the social and humanitarian sphere of civilization life, but also natural science, as well as the technosphere. The article proposes a variant of the classification of traditions and methods of broadcasting their content, which makes it possible to look at science as part of a cultural tradition that builds relationships with a spiritual tradition as a core one. But, first of all, the structuring of traditions in society makes it possible to clearly see their hierarchy and mutual influences. Especially valuable is the isolation of the spiritual tradition and the separation of the religious from it. This provides a key to understanding many processes in the history of civilization - in the sphere of religious life, in culture, in socio-political processes. Traditions such as religious, cultural and social build their own relationships with spiritual tradition. The forms of these relations create a multidimensional characteristic of the state of society in a given historical period.

Music plays an important role in social integration, often providing the vehicle for how one culture reinterprets itself in another. However, as in the case of the Ionian Islands, a peoples’ ability to incorporate outside influences and produce local culture may find itself at odds with the more nationalistic purposes of the state. The Ionian Islands came to be part of the Greek state without enduring the yoke of occupation by the Ottoman Empire or suffering in the wars that preceded the Greek free state. Therefore, the Ionian culture, in particular its popular music, has been made obscure by political elites who defined Greece as the benevolent opposite of its enemies, as the center of civilization and therefore without cultural influences – a definition that Ionian music, influenced by Italian settlers, did not meet.

Architecture is one proof of the development of human civilization that has changed related to the circumstances at that time. The development of human civilization cannot be separated from the supported development of the culture. In other words, architecture which is born in one place is a cultural manifestation in that place. Along with that, the development of architecture is also filled with influences which come into the specific region or an area and give different color so that it is created a building with an architecture that is different from other places. This influence will not necessarily be present but it is a long process and gives the characters on the place. In this paper, it will be described the existence of architectural influences from the outside come in and give a touch to the developing architecture in the city of Medan. Abstract:
In the history of civilization, the world history of the past 200 years has left a mark in the history of the global expansion of Western civilization and the struggles of non-Western countries. And in the 21st century, Korea's multicultural phenomenon, which was formed at the crossroads of radical globalization economically, politically, and culturally, is also operating surrounded by the axis of Western civilization universalism. Accordingly, in the midst of globalization, ‘practice multiculturalism’ and ‘social integration’ have become important tasks in Korean society due to the influx of labor migrants and marriage migrants. However, in reality, there are social and historical weaknesses in Korea's compressed modernization that prevent the community from maturing as a multicultural society. This is not only because the Western sociality that enables representative politics of civil society, the basis of Western universalism, and the rule of law, that is, rational liberal democracy, has not fully matured in Korean society, but also because of the inherent vulnerability of globalized multiculturalism. The term ‘multicultural society’, which is used in various senses, has its origins in the immigration policy managed by the state, and has a large state-led political connotation as it has legal elements at the border management level. In Western history, it is an ideology that was created with the problem of post-colonialism following the immigration crisis. However, the mutual interference between the global economy and cultural activities at an ever-increasing pace is forming a super-complex social system. Among these direct and indirect influences, the movement of population, movement of labor, and flow of goods and capital have brought about rapid cultural transformation and conflict around the world under the advanced information technology system. Therefore, Western universalism requires the fusion of new civilizations from the perspective of the universal history of human civilization. This study examines the special characteristics of Korea's multicultural society within the mechanical arrangement of globalization and seeks the possibility of building the integration of a multicultural society based on the ideology of 'interculturality'. We will also highlight that the practice of cultural diversity implies a deep awareness of the diversity of life and the prospect for a universal civilization of humanity.

This study aims to look at the history of the development of Islamic philosophy which in its time influenced world civilization, to find out the famous Islamic philosophy figures and make a very large contribution to this day, some of the theories put forward by Muslims are still used in the modern era such as the ideas of Ibn Sina on tuberculosis (TBC) and ethanol, Al-Khwarizmi's thoughts on mathematics Al-Gebra, discovering the number zero (0), astronomy and many other meritorious scientists. The research method used in this article is a literature study by digging up information about the Golden Age of Islamic Philosophy from various works of literature such as books, journals, articles, and other scientific papers. The results of this study are in the 9th century to the 12th century Islam developed rapidly and influenced world civilization. The development of Islam succeeded in giving birth to Muslim scholars and competing with the West at that time in the Dark Age phase because it was influenced by Church dogma and the inquisition which slowed down intellectual and technological development. Philosophy greatly influences the world of education. Islamic educational institutions developed rapidly through madrasas and higher education institutions at a time when Europe was experiencing its dark period. Islamic education and science in the Middle Ages were supported by Islamic scholasticism, which tried to reconcile Greco-Hellenistic thought with Islamic religious teachings, which reached its peak during the time of Al-Ghazali, and the impressive progress of Islamic civilization in the Middle Ages through Muslim philosophers such as Al-Kindi, Al-Farabi, Avicenna, Omar Khayyam, and others.

Abstract:
In recent years, under the background that the country gradually attaches importance to ecological civilization accomplishment and strengthens the construction of ecological civilization system, ecological civilization construction has become an important part of Chinese social governance, and ecological civilization education in colleges and universities has also received continuous attention. As a national pilot zone for ecological civilization, Hainan Province has concentrated advantages in environmental resources and is a key player in promoting ecological civilization in the construction of free trade ports. In this context, as the main front of talent training, colleges and universities should actively play the role of educating people on their intellectual bases. They should not only do a good job in ecological civilization education and promote the construction of the strategic quality of ecological civilization in the whole society but also give full play to the positive role of ecological civilization in economic construction and social development. As the construction of ecological civilization continues to progress, various entities have made some degree of progress in the field of ecological civilization education. Firstly, the government has continued to improve the top-level design and accelerate the construction of ecological civilized policy systems and ideological systems; secondly, universities have co-ordinated and civilization the allocation of disciplines, strengthened the concept of research and study and expanded practical platforms; thirdly, the public has actively participated in creating a favourable atmosphere in society as a whole to advocate ecological civilization and promote the integration and coordination of various educational resources. But at the same time, the development of ecological civilization education also faces many difficulties. First, the depth of theoretical research is insufficient, the discipline barrier has not been broken through, and the educational results have little effect. Second, the policy system needs to be improved, the educational logic is not clear, and the policy framework needs to be optimized. Third, the orientation of education is fuzzy, personnel training lags, and the transformation of practice is hindered seriously. Fourth, the main body of education is dislocated and lacking, the potential of resources is weak, and the integration still needs to be strengthened. Based on this, this paper analyzes the implementation of ecological civilization education in 21 universities in Hainan Province through field research, summarizes the current dilemmas and problems in ecological civilization education, attempts to strengthen the cause-effect orientation, deepen the theoretical construction of ecological civilization education in universities on the premise of clarifying the correlative influences of ecological awareness and participation behaviour, actively explores the effective path of cultivating ecological awareness among university students, and provides benefits for the construction of ecological civilization in Hainan Province and the development of Hainan's free trade port.

Based on the principles of system approach and using the historical and genetic method, the author examines the process of evolution of Russian civilization from the superpower of the USSR to the weakened international positions of the Russian Federation (1985–1999) and comes to the conclusion that the main mistake of the state-management elite was the premature opening of economic, informational, socio-cultural “contours” of the state and society to the external impact of the collective West (Euro-Atlantic), which turned out to be destructive and directed towards the Russian civilization. In modern conditions, Russia in the international arena positions itself as a state-civilization, which has to simultaneously solve two political problems: ensuring a sufficient de-gree of “closedness” from external destructive influences, but at the same time searching for a spiritual and ideological concept of “open” type, aimed at gathering allies around it, ready to resist the westernized version of globalization and the unipolar military-political model of the international system.

Animal rights are a contentious issue that frequently causes ethical quandaries in modern civilization. To better understand the parameters that determine the human-animal relationship from an ethical standpoint, an empirical study was conducted as part of ongoing research using a new and original questionnaire with one main research question: How are animals identified in relation to technology? Another question concerns humans' ethical treatment of animals. We gathered information on the perceptions and levels of familiarity of postgraduate students in the Humanities and Science Engineering on this topic. On a second level, the relationship between animals and technology was examined, as technology is a component of civilization. Initial findings indicate that the respondent's background influences their response to the topic of whether animals have technology and civilization. This is significant because it (re)defines how we should treat animals ethically. The findings also suggest that the use of experimental animals is permitted for scientific objectives rather than commercial ones.

abstract: This review essay examines the ambitious thirty-volume series Science and Civilization in Korea (SCK), published between 2010 and 2022. Input from over sixty Korean scholars traces the evolution of Korean science and technology, from elementary tools to advanced semiconductor technology. Inspired by Joseph Needham's series Science and Civilization in China, SCK seeks to reveal the "universal value" embedded in Korean civilization, extending to the tumultuous eras of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. This review essay probes SCK's implications and boundaries, elucidating the influences molding its narrative and identifying omissions. It also considers alternative narratives. Albeit rooted in use-centered historiography, such narratives would not be restricted to the local but underscore an array of practices striving for compatibility with global resources. Moreover, they could bridge the "imagined discontinuity"—the notion of rupture around 1900—between "tradition" and "modern" and thus cultivate a more seamless chronicle of Korea's history of technology.

Abstract:
Ibn e Khaldun (1406 C.E.) has been an imminent scholar and well known for his work in the study of civilization. His vision regarding Civilization holds the significant place according to the philosophers of history. Arnold J. Toynbee (1975 C.E.) is one such prominent thinker who not only applauded the thoughts of Ibn e Khaldun but was influenced by Ibn e Khaldun’s views as it can be seen in Toynbee’s book: “A Study of History”. As a philosopher of history, he has much contribution in the field; He interlinks History with civilization. He presented a thoughtful book surrounding his civilizational vision; which explains the causes of world’s ups and downs. Although he presented a quality research about the division of the civilizations in the light of religion, many aspects of his work need to be reassessed. As per his understanding of world civilizations, he represents twenty-one civilizations, but with the passage of time, the number reduces and now only five are left in the contemporary epoch. According to him, religion has played significant role in the rise and fall of civilizations through their various stages. This research will highlight his thought about Islam through a comparison between Toynbee and Ibn e Khaldun’s Islamic civilizational thoughts. The study will also mention several problems in his approach to the Islamic Civilization. Furthermore, along with due importance of both scholars in the subject of history, their authoritative status will be stated. This research aims to discuss some misconceptions of the West that are based on Toynbee's understating of Islamic civilization and history. And, consequently, it intends to improve relations between people of the west and east.

UNDER THE FALSE BANNER OF “OUR CIVILIZATION” IN DEFENSE OF THE WEST: SUCCESSFUL MYSTIFICATION OF ADOLF HITLER, FALSE HOPES OF PIŁSUDSKI’S SUPPORTERS (1933-1935)For Adolf Hitler, the most important goal was to build the power of the Third Reich and expand the armed forces necessary to implement his plans to fight communism, solve the Jewish question and gain living space in the East. The peace on the eastern border sought by Hitler could be the basis for an agreement with Józef Piłsudski, who sought to normalize relations with his western neighbor due to the danger from Soviet Russia. For Poland, aspiring to the role of defender of Western civilization and a bulwark against Russia and Eastern influences, it was necessary to stick to the values of the West, even though the Second Polish Republic, heading towards authoritarianism, deteriorated its relations with Western countries. After gaining power, Adolf Hitler began building a totalitarian state, consistently destroying the achievements of Western civilization in Germany. Aware of Poland’s desire to play the role of a bastion of Western civilization in the East, he used camouflage, falsely presenting himself as its defender, and called for a joint defense of the West against communism and Asian civilization. Hitler’s maneuver was facilitated by the fact that J. Beck and other Piłsudski supporters, unlike Piłsudski, used interests rather than values in international politics. Poland lost in the confrontation with Hitler because, contrary to its efforts and hopes for a policy of neutrality towards totalitarian states with an openly anti-Western and anti-civilization face, it did not gain the loyalty of its allies or the gratitude of its enemies.

Abstract:
Evaluation is a comprehensive data collection procedure that provides an initial assessment of the effectiveness of a program or curriculum. As a result, the purpose of this study is to examine the efficiency of the ethics and civilization course for UiTM Kota Kinabalu Sabah branch students using the CIPP model. This study is entirely quantitative, involving survey methodologies and questionnaire procedures. As respondents, 150 students from ethics and civilization courses participated. Cronbach's Alpha reliability and Exploratory Factor Analysis were used to assess the data descriptively (EFA). Since of outliers in the normalcy analysis, three respondents were eliminated from this study. Cronbach's Alpha is 0.952, which is above 0.70 as a result of the achieved normality value. Meanwhile, the Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) results show four factors with Elgen values in excess of 1.0 and KMO values (Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin) of 0.942 ≥ 0.6, indicating that variable items in the evaluation of the efficiency of the ethics and civilization course are intercorrelated. We identified a new factor that influences the evaluation of the efficiency of the ethics and civilization course as a result of the exploratory factor analysis (EFA) test. Following that, the Bartlett test is significant (Chi Square 6745.895, p < 0.05). This study included no exclusions, and all loading factor values were found to be greater than 0.05. As a result, the overall findings suggest that the items for evaluating ethics and civilization courses may be measured and answered the study's objectives. A total of 45 items have been validated and are suitable for measuring the success of CIPP-based ethics and civilization courses.

Consider this statement: the practice of science influences and is influenced by the civilization within which it occurs. Or again: scientists do not pursue their activities in a political or social void; like other people, they aspire to make their way in the world by responding to the values and social mechanisms of their day. Set in such simple terms, each statement probably would receive the assent of most scholars interested in the history of science. But there is need for debate on the nature and extent of the interaction between scientific activity and the civilization which incorporates it, as there is on the relations of scientists to the society within which they live. This essay seeks to make a contribution mainly to the second of these topics by taking a French scientist and academician of the eighteenth century and studying him and his family in the light of certain questions. At the end there will be a discussion relating those questions or themes to the wider debate. There is an associated purpose to the exercise: to present an account of the social origins and formation of Pierre-Jean-Baptiste Chomel (botanist, physician and member of the Academic des Sciences) which will augment our knowledge of this particular savant.

This paper examines the cultural heritage of the Swahili of East Africa based on an analysis of archaeological, historical and anthropological literature. The intricate history of Swahili interaction with the maritime environment, their immediate neighbours and the outside world since the last quarter of the first millennium BC produced a distinct cultural heritage. Coupled with internal dynamics, these interactions led to the rise and fall of a civilization characterized by a unique socio-cultural, economic and political pattern on the East African coast. Swahili cultural heritage reflects this interaction. This examination analyses a selection of tangible and intangible aspects, including ruined buildings, wooden crafts, and Swahili modes of dress, literary art and communication, music and dance. The paper concludes by examining the influence of Swahili cultural heritage on world culture.

Abstract:
One of the tasks of education in preparing an individual to professional work. However, in the sphere of human’s work, dynamic transformations determined by many factors take place, including the development of consumer civilization, in which being happy is like a “duty”. The article ponders upon the concept that consumer civilization appears attractive owing to its development being based on the assumption that happiness is the ultimate goal one should strive for. Yet, happiness is understood as a kind of pleasure, which means that an individual adopts a hedonistic attitude. The tendency to identify happiness with possessing goods influences the lives of both the individual, along with their attitude towards work, and consequently – the whole society. By glorifying the consumption ethos as the factor behind social development and growing rich, the category of happiness becomes distorted and its correlates – neglected. The authors of the paper have devoted it to the analysis of the so-called happiness formula in the reality of consumer civilization. The aim of the reflections is the postulate for pedagogy to pay close research attention to the relations between an individual and happiness.

Language contributes greatly to human civilization. Among the world's major languages spoken by mankind is Arabic. Arabic influences many aspects of life, such as Roman civilization in many fields, even music and poetry. Jahiliyyah Arabic only serves as a literary language. But when Islam came, Arabic underwent a very significant development, becoming the language of science. This is what is meant by the process of Islamization. This study aims to explain the influence of Islam on Arabic. Therefore, through this paper it can be concluded that even though there are several Arabic terms that are the same as those used during the Jahiliyyah and the advent of Islam, basically they have different meanings and emphasis. Islam came to have an influence in facilitating the pronunciation of Arabic terms which were previously complicated or even providing new Arabic vocabulary that was not known during the Jahiliyya period.

Abstract:
In this article, Emma Lieber situates “The Execution of Tropmann,” a late essay by Ivan Turgenev, as a key work in the author's oeuvre. Since the essay's publication, readers from Fedor Dostoevskii to contemporary critics have focused on the scene of the public execution—in which the narrator, one of a crowd of spectators, averts his gaze—as a signal instance of the reserve, moderation, and civilized refinement that are the cornerstone of the author's poetics. Lieber argues that this scene must be understood in the context of the essay as a whole, which she reads as an expression of anxiety about, and a troubled subversion of, the very civilizing influences that have been read as redemptive in Turgenev's novels and short stories. This interpretation therefore urges, not only a reconsideration of the place of “Tropmann” and its central scene in Turgenev's work, but also a reassessment of the tenor of the author's fiction.

Mixed evidence exists regarding the relationship between environmental risk perception and pro-environmental behavior. This study uses an existing online survey conducted by the Center of Ecological Civilization (CEC) of China University of Geosciences from December 2015 to March 2016 and examines how cultural bias influences environmental risk perception and behavior. We found that an individual’s pro-environmental behavior is not only influenced by environmental risk perception, but also by his or her cultural worldviews. Built on culture theory (CT), our empirical results suggest that young Chinese people are more located in “high-group” culture, where egalitarian culture and hierarchical culture dominate. The higher scores of hierarchical and egalitarian cultures of Chinese youth, the more likely they are to protect the environment. Moreover, the relationship between cultural worldviews and pro-environmental behaviors are mediated by perceived environmental risks.

This study explores the meaning of Mosques and Mausoleums in South Sulawesi as Islamic architecture influenced by Persian civilization. Previous research on the shape of the mausoleum scattered in South Sulawesi indicated the justification of Persian civilization. The research used a rationalistic paradigm with qualitative methods. The study's results explained that the meaning of mosques and mausoleums indicated the development of the spread of Islam in South Sulawesi. The old mosque has concluded as an iconic Islamic architecture in the category of Islamic heritage buildings. The Old Jami Mosque in Palopo, the al-Hilal Mosque of Katangka Gowa, and the old al-Mujahidin Mosque in Bone represent the three old mosques. The syntactic relations of the three regions were compiled in a historical relationship as the three great kingdoms in the classical period of Islam in South Sulawesi. The similarity aspect is shown by the alignment of the shape of the mosque with the architectural forms of the archipelago's mosques through the shape of the roof and its layers—shapes from nature such as leaves, mean fertility. The creativity of carving on the mihrab shows public awareness to present the mosque's beauty through calligraphy.

Abstract:
The civilizational approach in contemporary sociology aims at clarifying the relationships between social structure and culture, and institutions and actors. The civilizational dimension of the structuring of societies focuses on uncovering the complex interactions between the civilizational pattern and social structure. The focus is on a historically-defined combination of interpretive models and institutional frameworks in which the social dynamics of society unfolds. The fundamental premise of civilizational analysis in sociology is the rejection of social or cultural reductionist determinism. The key moments are distinction and autonomy, and are contingent on the interweaving of the structural, institutional, and cultural aspects of social interaction. The basic concepts of the civilizational dimension of structuring societies are (a) the determination of the method of differentiation and integration of the spheres of social life; (b) the establishment of basic norms and “debentures” for the main institutional sectors; (c) the building a social center and establishing its relationship with the periphery; (d) the construction of collective identities; (e) giving order to the formation of social stratification and the social division of labor; and (f) a self-representation and the strategies of sociopolitical elites, and their management practices. The key aspects of the civilizational structuring of social formations are highlighted and considered in the examples of the Imperial and the Soviet periods in the history of Russian society. Contemporary societies in the civilizational dimension are a combination of (a) inherited local civilizational traditions (often with their own anticipations of modernity), then (b) perceived in the course of inter-civilizational encounters with cultural and institutional influences of “other” traditions and reactions to them, and then (c) develop, inherit their own, borrow, or take on imposed-from-the-outside articulations and visions of the problems of modernity civilization, including models of modernity which receive universal meaning and value.

The Kazakh state, which has achieved independence, faces the task of preserving national archetypes and making them compatible with the values of modern worldcivilization. For Kazakhstan, there is a danger of getting stuck under the cover of globalization, under the influence of many religious influences that cause cultural decline, entering the modern era of globalization. Today, Kazakh culture needs to choose a path based on the traditions of the nation within the framework of civilization, or the process of mass culture. The purpose of the article is to study the experience of foreign countries for Kazakhstan, which today sets the task of becoming one of theadvanced, competitive countries of the world. In particular, to consider the logic of the civilizational development of Japan, which was able to reproduce a kind of model of the dynamic development of modern society in the conditions of technological progress and informatization. At the same time, it is important that Japan, in the context of globalization, has managed to maintain a balance in preserving the identity, traditions and innovative trends of culture. Kazakhstan, which has its own characteristics, also creates a model of its development in the conditions of post-totalitarian transformations. Programs aimed at preserving the national cultural heritage are being successfully implemented in Kazakhstan today. At the turn of the XX-XXI centuries, there was a need to effectively create a new image –a full-fledged part of the civilized world, an advanced innovative country combined with the successful use of centuries-old history and loyalty to spiritual traditions. To do this, it is necessary to harmoniously combine the achievements of modern civilization, from technological innovations to political institutions, with the values of traditional ethnoculture.

Extreme cinema is an international trend which encompasses a wide range of cinematic genres: thrillers, dramatic narratives, so-called “art films,” and horror films. In the context of Asian extreme films, we find an especially highly-dynamic crisscrossing of influences. There is an assumption in the Western imagination that the Asian diaspora is unidirectional insofar as Asian populations gravitate toward the beacons of Western civilization. Trends in post-millennial extreme cinema however disrupt this particular diasporic narrative. This article argues that post-millennial extreme films are not simply a bidirectional flow, but rather a complex circulation of themes, aesthetic motifs, and filmmakers.

Abstract:
Islam Nusantara is a form of Islam that developed in Indonesia with the characteristics of friendly, tolerant, and mutual respect, in accordance with the identity and character of the people of the archipelago. As a manifestation of the spirit of spreading Islam, Islam Nusantara is integrated with local culture to unite religious teachings and indigenous local wisdom. The transformation and relationship between religion and culture creates the distinctiveness of each locality, as seen in the ethnic culture of Lampung. The relationship between Islam and Lampung culture influences each other, where Islamic values enrich Lampung culture, and vice versa. The people of Lampung express religious moderation as a cultural value that bridges religious diversity in Indonesia. This moderation reflects the harmony between Islam Nusantara and local wisdom, where both do not negate each other, but seek solutions with tolerance. Understanding the values of Nusantara Islamic civilization and religious moderation in the indigenous people of coastal Lampung is an explanation of the relationship between Islam and culture in the development of Lampung society.

Socio-culture is a fundamental and common rule of a society that influences, controls, and directs the lives of individuals and societies. As the rulers with the most significant social status in a particular community, the Royals’ socio-culture is more sophisticated than commoners and heavily affected by royal customs and traditions. The royals’ socio-culture then affected the architecture of the palaces, notably the space arrangement, supporting the idea that socio-culture influences the constructed environment. This study aims to explicit the Kedah royalty’s socio-culture characteristics and influences in terms of traditional palace design in general and space arrangement. Qualitative approaches employ an analytical assessment of literature, historical and documentary sources, measured drawings and photos, site observation, and personal interviews to fulfill the study aims. Abstract:
The notion that “Westernization” is a process that is unconditionally positive in its impact has dominated both Western and Soviet accounts of Russian intellectual and cultural history during the period before the Emancipation of 1861. As a consequence, Westernization has been described as synonymous with progress, rational economic behavior, greater tolerance, civilization, and the advancement of individual freedom. Although this rather uncritically pro-Western approach to the study of Western influences has produced important research and analytical insights, the assumption that a homogeneous Western culture everywhere generates liberal and democratic influences is in fact highly problematic. As I have suggested elsewhere, it is very difficult to make the empirical case that any one Western political or economic model can be applied to Germany, France, and Italy as well as England. And in the Russian context, a belief in the unmixed benefits of Westernization obscures some of the most important ironies and contradictions that characterize Russian economic debates and strategies in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries.
