Laranja é um caso na história do léxico do Português por razões várias, nomeadamente conceptuais, etimológicas, semânticas e gramaticais. As razões conceptuais estão relacionadas com a dificuldade em saber exatamente se o nome que é dado ao fruto corresponde sempre ao mesmo fruto e se o fruto a que se dá o nome de laranja teve sempre esse nome, ou se outros nomes lhe estiveram ou estão ainda atribuídos. As razões etimológicas ligam-se à ausência de um elo na cadeia que liga o étimo remoto (Sânscrito nɑ̄raṅgɑ́h̥) à forma laranja, mesmo admitindo que a forma Árabe nɑ̄rɑ́nŷɑ assumiu um papel veicular. Quanto às razões semânticas, importa compreender o processo de polissemia que fixa laranja como nome de um projétil usado sobretudo em brincadeiras de Carnaval e como termo de cor. Acresce, por último, a necessidade de considerar a complexidade gramatical de laranja, que pode ser um nome feminino, um nome masculino ou um adjetivo, sem nunca mudar de forma.A resolução deste caso implica uma investigação em várias frentes, nomeadamente históricas, factuais e linguísticas, e sincrónicas, mas neste trabalho, dados os limites físicos, ficarão de fora os últimos cem anos. Esta investigação diz respeito à forma laranja e aos seus derivados (especialmente laranjeira, laranjal e laranjada), mas também a cidra e derivados (como cidrão, cidrada, cidreira e cidral), porque as duas se entrecruzam inevitavelmente. No final, espera-se chegar a uma narrativa coerente que conte a história destas famílias de palavras.

Abstract To determine effects of presynchronization and delayed fixed-time artificial insemination (TAI) on pregnancy rates (PR/AI) with sexed semen, 1,844 beef heifers were enrolled in a completely randomized design at 12 locations. Within location, heifers were randomly assigned to one of five treatments: 1 and 2), heifers administered prostaglandin F2α (PGF) on day -7, gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) and a CIDR insert on day 0, PGF at CIDR removal on day 7, and another injection of GnRH at TAI 72 hours later with conventional (CTRL72-CNV) or sexed semen (CTRL72-SEX); 3 and 4), treated the same as CTRL72 but received a CIDR insert on day -7 at PGF administration and TAI at 60 hours with conventional (CIDR60-CNV) or sexed semen (CIDR60-SEX); 5), treated the same as CIDR60 but had TAI delayed to 72 hours with sexed semen (CIDR72-SEX). Estrus expression between day 7 and TAI did not differ (P=0.92) between CIDR60 and CIDR72 heifers but was greater (P< 0.001) in CIDR60 and CIDR72 heifers compared with CTRL72 heifers. Among treatments, PR/AI differed (P< 0.001) and were greater (P≤0.003) in CTRL72-CNV and CIDR60-CNV heifers than CIDR60-SEX and CIDR72-SEX heifers. Furthermore, PR/AI were greater (P< 0.001) in CTRL72-SEX and CIDR60-SEX heifers when compared with CIDR72-SEX heifers but only tended (P=0.09) to differ between CTRL72-SEX and CIDR60-CNV heifers. No differences (P=0.33) were determined between CTRL72-CNV and CIDR60-CNV or between CTRL72-SEX and CIDR60-SEX heifers (P=0.22). In conclusion, no differences were determined between heifers presynchronized with only PGF and those presynchronized with PGF and a CIDR insert when inseminated with either conventional or sexed semen. Therefore, use of a CIDR insert for an additional 7 days was not beneficial to PR/AI when heifers were TAI at 60 hours with either conventional or sexed semen. Additionally, delaying TAI to 72 hours with sexed semen after presynchronization with both PGF and a CIDR insert has a negative impact on PR/AI.

ABSTRACT Antibodies to variant surface antigen have been implicated as mediators of malaria immunity in studies measuring immunoglobulin G (IgG) binding to infected erythrocytes. Plasmodium falciparum erythrocyte membrane protein 1 (PfEMP1) is an important target for these antibodies, but no study has directly linked the presence of PfEMP1 antibodies in children to protection. We measured plasma IgG levels to the cysteine-rich interdomain region 1α (CIDR1α) of VAR4 (VAR4-CIDR1α), a member of a semiconserved PfEMP1 subfamily, by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay in 561 Tanzanian individuals, who were monitored clinically for 7 months. The participants resided in Mkokola (a high-transmission village where malaria is holoendemic) or Kwamasimba (a moderate-transmission village). For comparison, plasma IgG levels to two merozoite surface protein 1 (MSP1) constructs, MSP1-19 and MSP1 block 2, and a control CIDR1 domain were measured. VAR4-CIDR1α antibodies were acquired at an earlier age in Mkokola than in Kwamasimba, but after the age of 10 years the levels were comparable in the two villages. After controlling for age and other covariates, the risk of having anemia at enrollment was reduced in VAR4-CIDR1α responders for Mkokola (adjusted odds ratio [AOR], 0.49; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.29 to 0.88; P = 0.016) and Kwamasimba (AOR, 0.33; 95% CI, 0.16 to 0.68; P = 0.003) villages. The risk of developing malaria fever was reduced among individuals with a measurable VAR4-CIDR1α response from Mkokola village (AOR, 0.51; 95% CI, 0.29 to 0.89; P = 0.018) but not in Kwamasimba. Antibody levels to the MSP1 constructs and the control CIDR1α domain were not associated with morbidity protection. These data strengthen the concept of developing vaccines based on PfEMP1.

Estrus detection patches were applied to all heifers on d 0 and were evaluated for activation at TAI. Pregnancy was diagnosed between 30 and 47 d after TAI. The percentage of heifers exhibiting estrus between d 0 and TAI was greater (P < 0.001) in the PG72, PG-CIDR54, and PG-CIDR72 treatments compared to the PG54 treatment (78.11, 86.59, and 91.09 vs. 31.05%, respectively). Furthermore, estrus response was greater (P < 0.001) in PG-CIDR72 heifers when compared to PG72. Pregnancy rates to TAI differed among treatments and were greater (P < 0.05) in the PG72 and PG-CIDR54 treatments when compared to PG-CIDR72 (48.8 and 50.4 vs. 38.4%, respectively), and were greater (P = 0.034) in PG-CIDR54 vs. PG54 (43.1%). Moreover, a tendency (P = 0.097) was determined on PR/AI between PG54 and PG72. In conclusion, presynchronization strategies and prolonged exposure to exogenous progesterone have the potential to alter estrus expression and improve fertility in replacement beef heifers.

Abstract Background Plasmodium falciparum-infected erythrocytes bind to specific endothelial cell receptors via members of the PfEMP1 family exported onto the erythrocyte surface. These interactions are mediated by different types of cysteine-rich interdomain region (CIDR) domains found in the N-terminal region of all PfEMP1. CIDRα1 domains bind endothelial protein C receptor (EPCR), CIDRα2–6 domains bind CD36, whereas the receptor specificity of CIDRβ/γ/δ domains is unknown. Methods In this study, we investigated the level of immunoglobulin (Ig)G targeting the different types of PfEMP1 CIDR during the first year of life. We used plasma collected longitudinally from children of pregnant women who had been followed closely through pregnancy. Results Antibodies to CIDRα1 domains were more frequent in cord blood compared with antibodies to CIDRα2–6 domains. Higher IgG levels to EPCR-binding CIDRα1 variants positively correlated with the timing of first infections. Antibodies to all PfEMP1 types declined at similar rates to the point of disappearance over the first 6 months of life. At 12 months, children had acquired antibody to all types of CIDR domains, mostly in children with documented P falciparum infections. Conclusions These observations agree with the notion that the timing and phenotype of first P falciparum infections in life are influenced by the immune status of the mother.

Abstract Severe malaria is caused by the adhesion of Plasmodium falciparum-infected erythrocytes to host receptors on vascular endothelium. Specifically, binding of the parasite variant surface antigen domain CIDRa1 to host endothelial protein C receptor (EPCR) is strongly associated with severe disease. In malaria-endemic regions, children quickly develop immunity against severe malaria, indicative of the development of an effective immune response against CIDRa1 domains. Indeed, serum IgG from naturally immune individuals exhibited reactivity against a diverse panel of CIDRa1 variants. In an effort to analyze CIDRa1 antibody responses at a monoclonal level, we isolated CIDRa1-specific memory B cells from malaria-experienced individuals living in Uganda and expressed the corresponding monoclonal antibodies (mAbs). Our approach has yielded anti-CIDRa1 mAbs ranging in breadth from variant-specific to reactive with the full spectrum of CIDRa1 domain variants, irrespective of their extensive sequence diversity. The broadest antibodies can be separated into two categories, those that bind outside the EPCR binding site and display exceptional breadth with modest inhibition of EPCR binding and those that target the EPCR binding site and show potent EPCR-binding inhibition. Two EPCR-binding site-targeting mAbs isolated from two different donors showed signs of convergent evolution. Our results demonstrate that natural P. falciparum infection can induce a broad and inhibitory antibody response against CIDRa1. Current experiments are aimed at understanding the structural basis of antibody-mediated inhibition of CIDRa1-EPCR binding to inform the design of a vaccine that protects against severe malaria.

Abstract The aim of this study was to investigate the ovarian response of Brahman cows submitted to two different estrus synchronization protocols and to determine the estrus response and ovulation time. A total of 153 Brahman cows were randomly assigned to receive one of the following estrus synchronization protocols: 1) CIDR insert and an injection of prostaglandin F2α (25 mg, PGF) on Day -5 and CIDR removal with PGF on Day 0 (CIDR5; n = 77); 2) CIDR insert on Day -12 and an injection of PGF on Day -12, Day -5 and Day 0 upon CIDR removal (CIDR12; n = 76). Estrotect breeding indicator patches were placed on Day 0 and cows were artificially inseminated (AI) 12h after estrus detection; cows not detected in estrus after 96h received TAI coupled with 100 µg of GnRH. Ovarian dynamics were observed during the protocol and follicular diameter were measured every 12h after AI until ovulation. Cows synchronized with CIDR12 had increased follicular diameter (CIDR5, 10.19 ± 0.51 vs. CIDR12, 13.12 ± 0.52 mm; P = 0.01) and decreased serum concentrations of progesterone (CIDR5, 1.68 ± 0.12 vs. CIDR12, 0.81 ± 0.12 ng/ml; P < 0.01) at CIDR removal. The percentage of cows exhibiting estrus did not differ between treatments (CIDR5, 66.2 vs. CIDR12, 64.5%; P = 0.25). No difference was observed in ovulation rate (CIDR5, 94.1 vs. CIDR12, 94.1%; P = 0.6). Time of estrus expression and ovulation time after CIDR removal did not differ (CIDR5, 59.9 ± 2.3 vs. CIDR12, 61.5 ± 2.3h; P = 0.71 and CIDR5, 88.1 ± 2.6 vs. CIDR12, 90.9 ± 2.6h; P = 0.75; respectively). In conclusion, extended length of CIDR with additional PGF increased follicular diameter and decreased concentrations of progesterone but did not influence estrus response and ovulation time in Brahman cows.

Abstract:
Messenger RNA uridylation is pervasive and conserved among eukaryotes, but the consequences of this modification for mRNA fate are still under debate. Utilising a simple model organism to study uridylation may facilitate efforts to understand the cellular function of this process. Here we demonstrate that uridylation can be detected using simple bioinformatics approach. We utilise it to unravel widespread transcript uridylation in fission yeast and demonstrate the contribution of both Cid1 and Cid16, the only two annotated terminal uridyltransferases (TUT-ases) in this yeast. To detect uridylation in transcriptome data, we used a RNA-sequencing (RNA-seq) library preparation protocol involving initial linker ligation to fragmented RNA—an approach borrowed from small RNA sequencing that was commonly used in older RNA-seq protocols. We next explored the data to detect uridylation marks. Our analysis show that uridylation in yeast is pervasive, similarly to the one in multicellular organisms. Importantly, our results confirm the role of the cytoplasmic uridyltransferase Cid1 as the primary uridylation catalyst. However, we also observed an auxiliary role of the second uridyltransferase, Cid16. Thus both fission yeast uridyltransferases are involved in mRNA uridylation. Intriguingly, we found no physiological phenotype of the single and double deletion mutants of cid1 and cid16 and only minimal impact of uridylation on steady-state mRNA levels. Our work establishes fission yeast as a potent model to study uridylation in a simple eukaryote, and we demonstrate that it is possible to detect uridylation marks in RNA-seq data without the need for specific methodologies.

Background: Plasmodium falciparum Erythrocyte Membrane Protein 1 (PfEMP1) is an important protein responsible for the pathogenesis of severe malaria, including cerebral malaria. The protein is highly diverse. The CIDR1α-PfEMP1 binds endothelial protein receptor (EPCR) and may associated with the brain swelling in childhood malaria. Objective: To analyze the CIDR1α-PfEMP1 from Indonesian isolate and determine its association with cerebral malaria outcome. Methods: Fifteen blood samples of clinically mild to severe malaria-patient were collected for DNA extraction. Malaria diagnosis was conducted microscopically by Giemsa-stained thin blood smear. The CIDR1α domain was amplified by PCR using specific primer and PCR product was sequenced. The nucleotide sequences were analyzed by NCBI blast, DNASIS MAX 3 and translated into amino acid sequences using Expasy Translation Tool. Results: One out of fifteen samples was severe malaria case and infected with P. falciparum, the rest were clinically mild to moderate malaria and infected with pure P. falciparum or mixed infection of P. falciparum and P. vivax. Amplification for CIDR1α domain resulted a single band of + 550 bp from a severe sample only. Sequencing of PCR product on both strands read 524 nucleotides and BLAST analysis confirmed as CIDR1α sequence. Multiple alignment showed 74-78% nucleotide sequence similarity with reference sequences, but amino acid sequences presented 23.5% homologous. Conclusion: An identified CIDR1α domain only from severe case implicating the potential association with the severe outcome including cerebral malaria, but the highly diverse of the domain needs further studies on the interaction with the pathological-causing receptor in the host.

Abstract:
In this study, the second use of an intravaginal progesterone-releasing device or controlled intravaginal drug release device (CIDR) was evaluated. After a first use of 11 days, the CIDR was again used for either nine or 12 days with 200 or 300 IU equine chorionic gonadotrophin (eCG) being injected on its removal. Sixty-four ewes were randomly distributed to four treatments (n=16/group): CIDR9+eCG200, CIDR9+eCG300, CIDR12+eCG200, and CIDR12+eCG300. The eCG was administered intramuscularly on withdrawal of the device. Thus, the experiment was a completely randomized design with a 2×2 factorial arrangement of treatments. Oestrus presentation did not differ between treatments (P =0.29). However, with the dose of 200 IU of eCG, oestrus presentation tended to increase (P =0.08). The onset and duration of oestrus, percentage of gestation, and return to oestrus did not differ between treatments (P >0.05). Progesterone concentration in serum was greater (P < 0.05) in ewes treated with CIDR12+eCG300. Prolificacy was greatest (1.44) with the CIDR12+eCG300 treatment and was different (P = 0.001) from the treatments CIDR9+eCG200 (1.21) and CIDR9+eCG300 (1.20), but not from the CIDR12+eCG200 treated ewes (1.31). The CIDR12+eCG300 treatement produced the highest percentage of twin births (45.8%) (P =0.001). Leaving the device in place for 12 days increased (P =0.001) the incidence of twin births. Alternative flours from plant sources such as cidra, are options to reduce the use of wheat flour in the production of food products. The objective of this investigation was to determine the effect of drying on some technological functional properties of cidra flour. The sliced cidra was dried at 40°C, 50°C, 60°C using: combined drying hot air recirculation-microwave with pulses of 4/40 seconds and drying by hot air recirculation, then obtained the flour and evaluated the techno-functional properties: index of absorption of water, capacity of retention of oil and water, capacity of swelling and capacity foaming. It was observed that the techno-functional property most affected by the drying methods was the foaming capacity, possibly due to the greater denaturation of globular proteins. The cidra flour exhibits techno-functional properties of interest for the elaboration of different food products.

Esta biografía recoge las etapas más polémicas de Bernardo Correa y Cidrón, sacerdote de vasta cultura que nació en Santo Domingo, en 1757. A causa del Tratado de Basilea, y por considerarse fiel a la corona española, Correa y Cidrón se fue a Cuba en 1798, siendo uno de los primeros en volver. No tardó en convertirse en uno de los más fervientes afrancesados. Se hizo ciudadano francés. Fue representante del poder francés en España. Allí estuvo preso y fue juzgado por traición. Regresó al país y participó en contra de la Reconquista igual que todos los afrancesados. Según señala su biógrafo, citando a José Gabriel García, quien analiza la conducta de los afrancesados como una de las primeras manifestaciones políticas de los medios dirigentes dominicanos en pos de sus intereses cuando dice: “Estar arriba se hizo su divisa primaria”. Esta forma de proceder constituyó un antecedente de la corriente conservadora que arropó a los medios dirigentes durante décadas de la cual Correa y Cidrón fue su principal representante intelectual. Para 1820 Correa y Cidrón era nuevamente español y no tuvo tapujo en ser candidato por el Partido Liberal a la diputación de Cádiz. En defensa propia escribió un alegato personal de la Vindicación del 26 de agosto de 1820 que constituyó su texto más conocido. Antes que cualquier otra cosa él era un católico, y esto le hacía ratificar la fidelidad a una monarquía que se preciaba de ser portaestandarte universal del catolicismo.

The malaria vaccine is an important strategy for the global malaria elimination program, but the complexity of the Plasmodium antigen is a major hurdle in malaria vaccine development. The cysteine-rich interdomain region 1α (CIDR1α) of Plasmodium falciparum erythrocyte membrane protein 1 (PfEMP1) is crucial in malaria pathogenesis, making it a vaccine candidate. This study investigated the leukocyte and IgM response generated after administering a CIDR1α-PfEMP1 recombinant protein injection in Wistar rats. The rats were divided into a control group, who received a physiological saline solution (PSS), and a treatment group, who were subcutaneously injected with 150 µg of purified CIDR1α-PfEMP1 protein three times at the 3-week interval. Blood samples were collected every week after each injection. The number of leukocytes were counted using a Neubauer chamber, and the IgM concentration was determined using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Data were analyzed using an independent, paired-T test, a Mann–Whitney test, and a Wilcoxon test, based on the distribution of the data. The total number of leukocytes notably increased on day 29 (p < 0.05). The percentage of neutrophils decreased, especially on day 8 (p < 0.05), whereas the percentages of monocytes and lymphocytes increased, primarily on day 14 (p < 0.05). The IgM concentration increased on day 14 (p < 0.05). In conclusion, the CIDR1α-PfEMP1 recombinant protein may induce leukocyte and IgM responses, making it a potential malaria vaccine candidate.

ABSTRACT Polyclonal B-cell activation and hypergammaglobulinemia are prominent features of human malaria. We report here that Plasmodium falciparum-infected erythrocytes directly adhere to and activate peripheral blood B cells from nonimmune donors. The infected erythrocytes employ the cysteine-rich interdomain region 1α (CIDR1α) of P. falciparum erythrocyte membrane protein 1 (PfEMP1) to interact with the B cells. Stimulation with recombinant CIDR1α induces proliferation, an increase in B-cell size, expression of activation molecules, and secretion of immunoglobulins (immunoglobulin M) and cytokines (tumor necrosis factor alpha and interleukin-6). Furthermore, CIDR1α binds to Fab and Fc fragments of human immunoglobulins and to immunoglobulins purified from the sera of different animal species. This binding pattern is similar to that of the polyclonal B-cell activator Staphylococcus aureus protein A. Our findings shed light on the understanding of the molecular basis of polyclonal B-cell activation during malaria infections. The results suggest that the var gene family encoding PfEMP1 has evolved not only to mediate the sequestration of infected erythrocytes but also to manipulate the immune system to enhance the survival of the parasite.

The first ovulation induced by male effect in sheep during seasonal anoestrus usually results in the development of a short cycle that can be avoided by progesterone priming before ram introduction. In elucidating the involvement of the hypothalamic–pituitary–gonadal axis in the occurrence of short cycles, the effects of progesterone and the time of anoestrus on the development of male-induced preovulatory follicles were investigated in anoestrous ewes using morphological, endocrine and molecular approaches. Ewes were primed with progesterone for 2 (CIDR2) or 12 days (CIDR12) and untreated ewes used as controls during early (April) and late (June) anoestrus. The duration of follicular growth and the lifespan of the male-induced preovulatory follicles were prolonged by ∼1.6 days in CIDR12 ewes compared with the controls. These changes were accompanied by a delay in the preovulatory LH and FSH surges and ovulation. Intra-follicular oestradiol concentration and mRNA levels ofLHCGRandSTARin the granulosa and theca cells of the preovulatory follicles were higher in CIDR12 ewes than the control ewes. The expression of mRNA levels ofCYP11A1andCYP17A1also increased in theca cells of CIDR12 ewes. CIDR2 ewes gave intermediate results. Moreover, ewes ovulated earlier in June than in April, without changes in the duration of follicular growth, but these effects were unrelated to the lifespan of corpus luteum. Our results give the first evidence supporting the positive effect of progesterone priming on the completion of growth and maturation of preovulatory follicles induced by male effect in seasonal anoestrous ewes, thereby preventing short cycles.

Los probióticos son bacterias ácido-lácticas que mejoran el equilibrio microbiano. El objetivo de esta investigación fue enriquecer la matriz cidra con Lactobacillus casei y saborizarla con maracuyá. Se determinó la porosidad y se realizó impregnación a vacío a geometrías de cidra con formulaciones de maracuyá; las muestras de cidra se caracterizaron fisicoquímicamente. Se realizó el enriquecimiento con Lactobacillus casei con 109 UFC/mL y se evalúo la viabilidad de los microorganismos. Los resultados mostraron valores similares de porosidad en paralelepípedos y láminas (0,995±0,003 y 0,991±0,005, respectivamente); mientras que los ºBrix (9,9±0,12 y 10,2±0,12) y el pH (6,03±0,01 y 6,06±0,01) fueron mayores en láminas; la acidez titulable (0,301±0,012 y 0,258±0,012) fue mayor en paralelepípedos, presentaron mayor viabilidad después de 20 días de almacenamiento con valores superiores a 106 UFC/g y mayor aceptación sensorial. La formulación 75:25 pulpa:agua y la geometría en paralelepípedos presentaron las condiciones más adecuadas para la incorporación del probiótico.

La cidra Sechium edule (Jacq.) Sw., se encuentra entre los alimentos con bajo contenido de grasa y alto contenido en fibra, vitaminas y minerales y puede ser utilizada como vehículo para la adición de compuestos bioactivos. El proceso de impregnación a vacío (IV) se utiliza como alternativa para la conservación y adición de compuestos bioactivos y solutos, mejorando las características nutricionales y sensoriales, para realizar este proceso se utilizaron los frutos de mora y uva por su atractivo color, jugosidad, sabor agradable y alto contenido de vitaminas, minerales y compuestos fenólicos. El objetivo de esta investigación fue determinar la cinética de impregnación a vacío de paralelepípedos de cidra en formulaciones de mora y uva. Se prepararon cinco formulaciones % v/v con pulpa de mora y uva (A:100% mora, B:100% uva, C: 25% mora/75% uva, D:50% mora/50%uva, E:75% uva/25% mora), la cidra se troceó en geometría de paralelepípedos y se sumergieron en las formulaciones para realizar la IV aplicando un pulso de vacío de 50 mbar los primeros 5 min seguido de restauración de la presión atmosférica durante 5 min; este procedimiento se repitió hasta alcanzar peso constante. Las muestras de cidra alcanzaron el equilibrado entre 100 y 120 min de tratamiento. La formulación D fue la que mejor respondió a este sistema de presiones, ya que los paralelepípedos presentaron menor pérdida de peso lo que indica mayor ganancia de solutos.

Abstract Background CD377 is a novel antiviral Fc-conjugate (AVC) development candidate for influenza prevention and treatment, comprising multiple copies of a novel potent small-molecule antiviral and the Fc domain of human IgG1. CD377 was designed as a stable, long-acting molecule for treatment and prevention of influenza A and B. Studies were conducted to characterize CD377 stability/pharmacokinetics (PK), single-dose efficacy in influenza models, and safety/toxicology. Methods PK in the mouse (1-100 mg/kg), rat (5-50 mg/kg), ferret (3 mg/kg), and monkey (5-20 mg/kg) were studied by sampling plasma over a 1-2 week interval. Plasma levels of intact molecule and total Fc were measured by neuraminidase (NA)-capture and Fc-capture with Fc-detection ELISA, respectively. Two-week safety/toxicology (bodyweight, coagulation, clinical signs, chemistries, hematology, cytokines, urinalsis, histopathology) was evaluated in monkeys (5-20 mg/kg on days 1 and 8). Prophylaxis efficacy was studied in a lethal influenza mouse model using a single dose of CD377 (0.3–3 mg/kg) 28 days prior to intranasal (IN) challenge with 3x the LD95 of A/California/07/2009 (H1N1)pdm, A/Hong Kong/1/68 (H3N2), or B/Malaysia (Victoria lineage). Treatment efficacy was studied in a similar mouse model using a single dose of CD377 (0.3–3 mg/kg) administered 2 hours after IN challenge with A/CA/12/2012 (H1N1)pdm. Results Plasma concentrations measured by Fc-capture/Fc-detection and NA-capture/Fc-detection were comparable, indicating that CD377 remained intact in vivo. In species tested, CD377 t1/2 was 3–10 days. Dose proportional increases in exposure were observed, notably from 1–100 mg/kg in mouse. High bioavailability (77%) was observed after subcutaneous (SC) or intramuscular (IM) administration. A single SC dose of 1 mg/kg administered 28 days prior to infection provided 100% protection against H1N1, B, and H3N2 subtypes in mouse (Fig. 1). Treatment efficacy was observed with a single 0.3 mg/kg IM dose. The 2-week monkey toxicology study showed no adverse effects. Figure 1. ABSTRAK Latar belakang : Osteoartritis merupakan salah satu penyakit degenerative yang ditandai dengan hilangnya tulang rawan articular dan terjadi peradangan sinovial yang menyebabkan kekakuan sendi, nyeri dan kehilangan mobilitas sendi. Ada banyak faktor risiko osteoarthritis lutut, salah satunya adalah riwayat cidera lutut. Cidera lutut menurunkan kestabilan sendi lutut pada bantalan beban tubuh. Cidera lutut meningkatkan risiko osteoarthritis pada area kontak tibiofemoral dan tekanan pada cidera meniscal, sehingga menyebabkan unstabil sendi berupa ligament sprain dan lesi pada chondral atau dengan mengganggu sistem neuromuskular. Individu dengan riwayat trauma sendi 3-6 kali lebih berpotensi terjadinya osteoarthritis lutut. Dalam 5 tahun cedera, lutut mengalami perubahan struktural seperti, perubahan komposisi tulang rawan, dan perubahan pada struktur ulang. Tujuan Penelitian : Menganalisis hubungan antara riwayat cidera lutut terhadap pasien yang berpotensi osteoarthritis lutut di Puskesmas Dinoyo Kota Malang. etode Penelitian : Desain penelitian menggunakan Case Control Study dengan jumlah sampel 120 responden di Puskesmas Dinoyo Kota Malang yang diambil dengan metode Simple Random Sampling. Pengambilan data untuk mengetahui riwayat cidera lutut dinilai dengan kuesioner OA Risk C dan wawancara mendalam. Potensi adanya osteoarthritis lutut dinilai menggunakan pemeriksaan fisik, skala jette dan data sekunder dari Puskesmas Dinoyo Kota Malang. Hasil : Hasil penelitian dengan uji Chi-Square terhadap Riwayat cidera lutut dikaitkan dengan osteoarthritis lutut dalam penelitian ini didapatkan nilai signifikan lebih kecil dari alpha 5% (0,00 < 0,05) dengan Odds Ratio [OR= 5,82 (95% CI 2,54-13,35)]. Kesimpulan : Terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara riwayat cidera lutut terhadap pasien yang berpotensi osteoarthritis lutut di Puskesmas Dinoyo Kota Malang dan orang yang memiliki riwayat cidera lutut berpeluang 5 kali lebih besar menderita osteoarthritis lutut daripada orang yang tidak memiliki riwayat cidera lutut.

Abstract:
Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat yang berjudul Pemberdayaan Pelaku Seni Jaranan Nganjuk Dalam Menangani Cidera Melalui Keterampilan Masase Terapi memiliki tujuan mendasar penerapan pada masyarakat yaitu mensejahterahkan dengan selalu menjaga kesehatan dengan cara menjaga kondisi fisik. Para pelaku Jaranan perlu diperdayakan agar taraf hidup dan daya hidup lebih baik. Maka, melalui pengabdian ini dapat memberikan kontribusi yang baik, sebab tujuan utama dilaksanakan pengabdian ini adalah agar pelaku dapat mandiri dalam mengatasi cidera ringan maupun cidera berat pada saat atau setelah pertunjukan. Pemberdayaan dilakukan dalam bentuk 1) Keterlibatan mitra sebagai peserta pelatihan masase terapi pada cidera, 2) Terlibat dalam penanganan cidera melalui keterampilan masase terapi, 3) Melibatkan pelaku Jaranan lainnya untuk diberdayakan agar memiliki keterampilan masase terapi, 5) Keterlibatan dalam membentuk kelompok masase terapi untuk para pelaku Jaranan. Tujuan utamanya agar pelaku Seni Jaranan memahami manfat, teknik dan praktik masase terapi ini. Berikutnya adalah dengan memberikan legitimasi untuk pelaku Jaranan yang mahir melakukan masase terapi berupa sertifikasi bahwa pelaku Seni Jaranan masing-masing telah memiliki keterampilan dalam menangani pemain Jaranan saat mengalami cidera. This paper presents the complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) implementation of active building block, namely, current inverting differential input transconductance amplifier (CIDITA) along with its performance parameters. The detailed study of the proposed CMOS CIDITA has been incorporated. The presented study shows the good performance of CIDITA in terms of good bandwidth range, good linear range of input current, high accuracy and low operating voltage. A new circuit of single active element-based quadrature oscillator is further realized to explore the workability of CIDITA. The proposed circuit of quadrature oscillator employs two grounded capacitors, one resistor and single CIDITA. The proposed quadrature oscillator provides both quadrature current outputs and quadrature voltage outputs simultaneously. The frequency of oscillation of the proposed quadrature oscillator is electronically controllable. The possible practical realization of the CIDITA using commercially available ICs is also given. HSPICE simulation results using 0.18[Formula: see text][Formula: see text]m CMOS parameters are given to validate the proposed theory.

This study aims to analyze the religious values contained in the Wahyu puppet show of Kang Cidra’s student play Nyi Lucia Siti Aminah Subanto which can be the basis for the development of pancasila character education. Religious values in Catholicism include various aspects related to faith deepening and spiritual strengthening. This play is interesting to study because it is a representation of the sacred event of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, so it contains teachings on religiosity that serve as a subject of faith for Catholics. The meaning of religious values is analyzed through dramatic structures and textures. The result of this study is that this play contains religious values, including: love, repentance, and loyalty. This value can be lived in everyday life as a development of character education for Catholics. The play Siswa Kang Cidra contains a meaning to invite Catholics to appreciate suffering through the story of the passion and death of Jesus Christ. On the other hand, this play also reveals a reflection of the inner religious attitude shown through Jesus’ disciples. God’s love and forgiveness is very clear in how God still accepts Peter even though he has denied it. This event changed Peter to repent and live by the teachings of Christ until the end of his life. Meanwhile, the act of betrayal by Judas was a reflection of the failure of the faith process. Repentance is the path to blessing because God always accepts repentant humans. The failure of the faith process is a sign that closeness to God is always faced with trials and obstacles. Misguidance due to trials and obstacles can occur if faith is weakened, and weakened faith allows people to make decisions that deviate from the teachings of Christ. For this reason, learning from the failure of the faith process is an effort to strengthen the belief that humans follow and proclaim the teachings of Jesus Christ. The religious values contained in the play include: loyalty, love, and repentance. These values can be lived out in everyday life as the development of Pancasila character education.

Cidera otak atau cidera kepala merupakan kasus trauma ketiga paling sering ditemukan di indonesia dengan prevalensi sebesar 11,9% pada tahun 2018. Kerentanan terhadap infeksi yang meningkat pada kebanyakan kasus cidera otak membuat penggunaan antibiotik menjadi sangat masuk akal pada kasus – kasus tersebut. Salah satu antibiotik yang memiliki kemampuan penetrasi sawar darah-otak yang terbukti sangat baik adalah ceftriaxone. Baru – baru ini, mulai dilakukan penelitian yang membahas tentang efek neuroprotektif dari ceftriaxone terhadap cidera otak yaitu meningkatkan ekspresi GLT-1 yang menguatkan rasional pemberian ceftriaxone pada kasus cidera otak. Namun, belum ada kajian mengenai efektivitasnya belum ditemui. Tujuan dari penulisan artikel ini adalah untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas pemberian ceftriaxone terhadap peningkatan kadar GLT-1 pada kasus cidera otak. Metode penulisan dilakukan dengan kajian sistematik menelusuri berbagai pusat data daring mengikuti alur dan kaidah pencarian PRISMA guna mencari studi-studi yang menguji kemampuan dari ceftriaxone dalam meningkatkan kadar GLT-1 pada kasus cidera otak. Kajian ini melibatkan 5 studi inklusi dari total 722 studi dengan total subjek sebanyak 362 sampel. Berdasarkan studi inklusi tersebut, didapatkan bahwa Pemberian ceftriaxone (200mg/kgBB) terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan kadar GLT-1 1-7 hari post-trauma jika dibandingkan dengan kelompok kontrol. Edema serebral juga mengalami perbaikan pada kelompok yang diberikan ceftriaxone jika dibandingkan dengan kelompok kontrol. Selain itu, didapatkan juga peningkatan kemampuan pembelajaran dan daya ingat post-trauma pada kelompok intervensi. Tidak ada efek samping signifikan yang dilaporkan

PT XYZ membutuhkan tenaga mesin dan kerja fisik operator dalam proses produksi botol plastik. Namun, tenaga manusia memiliki keterbatasan fisik apabila melakukan aktivitas yang berlebihan. Risiko cedera dan kecelakaan kerja yang akan terjadi cukup tinggi apabila dibiarkan. Salah satu, cidera kerja yang dialami oleh operator dalam aktivitas produksi yaitu, gangguan musculoskeletal, cidera ditangan dan sakit pinggang. Hal ini, disebabkan aktivitas kerja yang dilakukan secara berulang-ulang dan mengkibatkan cidera, serta penurunan produktivitas kerja. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini akan berupaya menemukan solusi permasalahan dengan mengukur level risiko menggunakan pendekatan metode cumulative trauma disorders (CTD) risk index. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa, diperoleh level cidera pada tiga faktor utama dan satu faktor tambahan, meliputi : Frequency Factor (1,98), Posture Factor (0,9) dan Force Factor (3,441), serta Miscellaneous Factor (1). Kemudian, diperoleh CTD Risk Index sebesar 1,996. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa, CTD Risk Index menghasilkan level risiko kumulatif > 1. Hal ini dapat mengakibatkan risiko cidera kumulatif pada operator di stasiun kerja, sehingga dapat menimbulkan cidera otot. Dengan demikian, solusi dari permasalahan dari penelitian ini yaitu diperlukan adanya waktu istirahat dan perbaikan layout stasiun kerja, sehingga operator dapat bekerja dengan postur tubuh yang baik dan mencegah terjadinya risiko kerja, kelelahan otot yang mengakibatkan Cumulative Trauma Disorders (CTDs).

Malaria vaccination is an essential approach to combat malaria. One major protein studied for vaccine development is Plasmodium falciparum erythrocyte membrane protein-1 (PfEMP1). It contains several important domains for malaria pathogenesis. The binding of Cysteine-rich interdomain region α1 (CIDRα1) of PfEMP1 to endothelial protein C receptor (EPCR) is associated with cerebral malaria, while CIDRα1 binding to CD36 has been correlated with uncomplicated malaria. The vital function of CIDRα1 of PfEMP1 makes it a potential vaccine candidate to prevent clinical features of malaria. A long journey of vaccine development can be shortened by the advancement of bioinformatics and biotechnology techniques. This study aimed to express the recombinant CIDRα1 of PfEMP1 and investigate its potency as a malaria subunit vaccine candidate by in silico analysis. Constructed CIDRα1-PfEMP1 was expressed in E. coli BL21(DE3) after induction with Isopropyl ß-D-1-thiogalactopyranoside (IPTG) and purified using Ni-NTA column. In silico analysis on CIDRα1 of PfEMP1 sequence was conducted using ProtParam Tool for its physicochemical properties, Iterative Threading ASSEmbly Refinement (I-TASSER) server and JPred4 program to predict secondary structure, 3D modelling, and ligand-binding site, BepiPred 2.0 and Kolaskar-Tangaonkar to predict B-cell epitope, NetCTL server to determine T-cell epitope, and Vaxijen v2.0 server to predict its antigenicity. The chimeric CIDRα1 of PfEMP1 protein had a 27 kDa molecular weight and was classified as a stable protein. The secondary structure consisted of 6 helices connected with loops. It revealed similarity to CD36-binding protein, EPCR-binding domain, and protein involved in rosetting. The 3D structure modelling demonstrated conserved ligand-binding sites and accessible surface area, which are vital for receptor binding. It had B-cell and T-cell epitopes and was non-allergenic. The properties of the chimeric CIDRα of PfEMP1 indicated its potential as a malaria subunit vaccine candidate. Sebelum adanya putusan Mahkamah Konstitusi tersebut, pengertian “Cidera Janji” ditentukan secara sepihak oleh kreditur (Perusahaan Pembiayaan). Sehingga dengan kondisi ini menyebabkan kreditur cenderung bertindak sewenang-wenang dalam terhadap debitur yang berada pada posisi yang lebih lemah. Pasca Putusan Mahkamah Konstitusi Nomor: 18/PUU-XVII/2019, pengertian “Cidera Janji” atau Wanprestasi harus dilakukan berdasarkan kesepakatan antara kreditur dan debitur atau atas dasar suatu upaya hukum tertentu, yaitu melalui putusan pengadilan. Injury conditions in martial arts based on epidemiological research are in the 10th position in dangerous sports with the potential for injury to reach 2.4% overall. The injury model that occurs each time is determined by a certain dominance technique of a discipline resulting from the philosophy of the sport discipline, training objectives, as well as from the rules of sports competition. The management of hapkido Lampung is aware of the lack of facilities for approaching medical science in injury management to review data and carry out training developments to minimize injuries.This study purpose was to determine the risk of injury to Hapkido Athletes in order to develop training programs to focus on preventing or reducing the potential for existing injuries so that athletes have maximum performance. This research is descriptive analytic research using cross sectional design . In this design a transverse approach is used. Where is the observation of the independent variable and the dependent variable is carried out only once at the same time with the number of research samples 60. The results of this study are data on the incidence of injuries experienced by hapkido athletes based on questionnaire data collection.The data obtained are 53.3% female samples and 46.7% male, with data on the incidence of injury 50.9% in the ankle region, and 44.4% specific tissue injury to joints and ligaments and the incidence of injury during technical training 50.9%. The incidence rate of injury to the hapkido martial arts athlete in Lampung has the largest presentation in the ankle region and in specific ligamentous tissues with the risk of it occurring during movement technique training activities where the results can be concluded that hapkido sports require good joint stability, especially in the ankle region.

Abstract Background AVCs (antiviral Fc-conjugates) are novel, long-acting immunotherapeutic conjugates of potent antivirals conjugated to the Fc domain of human IgG1. CD377, an AVC development candidate for the prevention and treatment of influenza A and B, comprises multiple copies of a novel neuraminidase inhibitor conjugated to IgG1 Fc. CD377 demonstrated potent, broad-spectrum activity in vitro and in lethal mouse models. Herein, we characterize the activity of CD377 on viral lung burden in lethal mouse models and in a ferret model of influenza A (H1N1) infection. Methods BALB/c mice were challenged intranasally with 3 x 102 PFU of influenza A/PR/8/1934 (H1N1) or with 3 x 104 PFU A/CA/07/2009 (H1N1)pdm. Ferrets were challenged sub-lethally at 1 x 106 PFU with influenza A/CA/07/2009 (H1N1)pdm. A single dose of CD377 was given 2 h post-challenge in the mouse (subcutaneous dose ranging from 0.1 – 3 mg/kg) or 24 h prior to challenge in the ferret (intravenous dose ranging from 0.3 – 30 mg/kg). In mice, oral oseltamivir was given at 5 mg/kg (human equivalent dose, HED) or at 50 mg/kg BID x 4 days starting at 2 h post-challenge and in ferrets at 20 mg/kg (4x HED) BID x 4 days starting at 4 h prior to infection. Viral burden was determined on day 4 (mouse) or days 2 and 4 (ferret) post-challenge by plaque assay. Results In mice, CD377 demonstrated dose-dependent reduction in viral lung burden (1.1 logs at 0.1 mg/kg, 2.1 logs at 0.3 mg/kg, 3.1 logs at 1 mg/kg and 3.6 logs at 3 mg/kg) compared to PBS against influenza A/PR/8/1934 (H1N1) (Fig. 1A). In the same study, oseltamivir reduced viral lung burden only by 0.8 logs at both 5 mg/kg (HED) and 50 mg/kg. No significant reduction in lung burden was observed between negative controls, PBS and hIgG1 Fc. Similarly, CD377 demonstrated a dose-dependent, multi-log reduction in viral lung burden against influenza A/CA/07/2009 (H1N1)pdm (Fig. 1B). In ferrets, CD377 reduced viral load with dose dependency at days 2 (Fig. 1C) and 4 post-infection (Fig. 1D). CD377 at 3 mg/kg or higher dose was superior compared to oseltamivir at 4x HED on days 2 and 4 post-challenge. Conclusion CD377 demonstrated superior viral load reduction compared to oseltamivir in lethal influenza A (H1N1) mouse and ferret models. These data support further development of CD377 for prevention and treatment of influenza infection. Abstract:
Cidea is a gene highly expressed in thermogenesis-competent (UCP1-containing) adipose cells, both brown and brite/beige. Here, we initially demonstrate a remarkable adipose-depot specific regulation of Cidea expression. In classical brown fat, Cidea mRNA is expressed continuously and invariably, irrespective of tissue recruitment. However, Cidea protein levels are regulated posttranscriptionally, being conspicuously induced in the thermogenically recruited state. In contrast, in brite fat, Cidea protein levels are regulated at the transcriptional level, and Cidea mRNA and protein levels are proportional to tissue “briteness.” Although routinely followed as a thermogenic molecular marker, Cidea function is not clarified. Here, we employed a gain-of-function approach to examine a possible role of Cidea in the regulation of thermogenesis. We utilized transgenic aP2-hCidea mice that overexpress human Cidea in all adipose tissues. We demonstrate that UCP1 activity is markedly suppressed in brown-fat mitochondria isolated from aP2-hCidea mice. However, mitochondrial UCP1 protein levels were identical in wild-type and transgenic mice. This implies a regulatory effect of Cidea on UCP1 activity, but as we demonstrate that Cidea itself is not localized to mitochondria, we propose an indirect inhibitory effect. The Cidea-induced inhibition of UCP1 activity (observed in isolated mitochondria) is physiologically relevant since the mice, through an appropriate homeostatic compensatory mechanism, increased the total amount of UCP1 in the tissue to exactly match the diminished thermogenic capacity of the UCP1 protein and retain unaltered nonshivering thermogenic capacity. Thus, we verified Cidea as being a marker of thermogenesis-competent adipose tissues, but we conclude that Cidea, unexpectedly, functions molecularly as an indirect inhibitor of thermogenesis.

Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pengetahuan dan edukasi terkait macam-macam cidera olahraga dan memaksimalkan proses pemulihan cedera serta untuk meminimalkan terjadinya resiko cedera ulang. Metode yang digunakan dengan memberikan penyuluhan dan pelatihan penanganan cidera olahraga. Resiko dari kegiatan berolahraga adalah cedera, mulai dari cedera ringan hingga cedera berat sangat mungkin terjadi pada atlet yang melakukan latihan rutin.

Abstract Background Cidara’s AVCs are novel, potent, antiviral agents conjugated with the Fc domain of human IgG1. CD377 is an AVC development candidate being evaluated for prevention and treatment of seasonal and pandemic influenza, including in immune-deficient populations unable to benefit from vaccination. We evaluated CD377 in vitro and in SCID mice to determine the impact of compromised immune status on efficacy. Methods CD377 and comparators (oseltamivir [OS], zanamivir [ZA], baloxavir marboxil [BM]) were evaluated in vitro by neuraminidase inhibition (NAI), and cytopathic effect (CPE) assays. The pharmacokinetics (PK) and efficacy of CD377 were determined in immune-competent (IC; BALB/c) and immune-deficient (ID; BALB/c SCID) mice. Efficacy was assessed by intranasal challenge at 3x the LD95 of influenza A/Puerto Rico/8/1934 (H1N1), followed by a single subcutaneous (SC) dose of CD377, 2 hours post-challenge. The SCID study also evaluated the efficacy of BM at 3 mg/kg (BID x 1 day). Body weights (BW) were monitored for 21 days, with 20% BW loss recorded as mortality. Results In vitro evaluation by NAI showed CD377, OS, and ZA to be approximately equipotent, with IC50 values between 0.5 and 1.7 nM. However, by CPE, CD377 was ~4.5-fold more active than BM and &gt;1,000-fold more active than OS and ZA. In vivo, the PK of CD377 was found to be comparable in IC and ID mice. In subsequent efficacy studies, CD377 was protective at 0.1 mg/kg in IC mice (P=0.0020 vs. vehicle), while control groups fully succumbed to infection by Day 7 (Fig. 1A). In a similar study with ID mice, CD377 dosed at 0.1 mg/kg was also fully protective (P=0.0020). In contrast, mice treated with 6 mg/kg (total dose) of BM were only partially protected until day 13 (40% mortality by study end) (Fig. 1B). The potency of CD377 was further supported by BW data, which mirrored the survival data in both studies. Conclusion CD377 exhibited potent in vitro activity and had similar PK in IC and ID mice. In efficacy studies, CD377 demonstrated robust potency in both IC and ID mouse models at equivalent doses (0.1 mg/kg, SC, single dose). These results support further development of CD377 as a novel antiviral for the prevention and treatment of influenza infection, including in people with immune deficiencies and higher risk of infection. Agar komponen fisik ini bisa terpenuhi dengan baik maka program latihan yang di desain oleh pelatih harus tepat bertujuan untuk memenuhi komponen fisik tersebut serta untuk menghindari resiko cidera pada ekstrimitas bawah. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui gambaran resiko cidera pada atlet wushu CSWI Surabaya usia remaja. Desain penelitian dengan study deskriptif. Subyek penelitian ini adalah atlet remaja usia 14-17 tahun di komunitas Wushu CSWI Surabaya usia remaja sebanyak 34 responden. Teknik pengambilan sampling dengan purposive sampling. Data dikumpulkan saat pelaksanaan penelitian adalah data karakteristik yaitu jenis kelamin, usia, single leg balance. Data karakteristik sample dikumpulkan dengan cara dilakukan test atau assesment secara. Data penelitian menunjukkan 68,75% memiliki resiko cidera pada ekstrimitas bawah dan 31,25 memiliki resiko cidera ekstrimitas bawah kategori rendah. Kesimpulan dari penelitian di komunitas Wushu CSWI Surabaya usia remaja sebagian besar atlet memiliki resiko cidera pada ekstremitas bawah, dimana diatas 50 % atlet didapatkan diatas 50 % persen atlet menunjukan hasil tes single leg balance < 30 detik. Hasil single leg balance test ini mempunyai hubungan dengan kondisi fisik ektremitas bawah.

Background: The scope of using controlled intra-vaginal drug releasers (CIDR) in the camel industry was small relative to that of cow, sheep, and goat. Aim: The purpose of the present study was to determine the effects of intramuscular injection of AD3E (25ml/400kg; QA11CB, Merial, France) as a premedication protocol before CIDR treatment on ovarian hormones profile and calving rate in dromedary she camels (Camelus dromedarius) through measuring concentrations of progesterone (P4) and estradiol (E2) before, during and after CIDR use. Methods: The study was conducted on she-camels (Camelus dromedarius) (n=24) aged between 6-14 years. The animals were assigned into two equal groups; CIDR treated group (CIDRgr) and AD3E plus CIDR treated group (CIDR+gr). Results: Except for haemoglobin, the clinical and haematological findings showed no remarkable change either within each independent group or between CIDRgr and CIDR+gr. Serum P4 and E2 concentrations differed significantly between the first 7 days (During CIDR use) and days from 9 to 15 (After CIDR use) in dromedary camels. Serum concentrations of P4 and E2 showed significant elevation at CIDR+gr at day 0 comparing with CIDRgr. This significant increase in serum of P4 and E2 at CIDR+gr comparing to those of CIDRgr was also observed either during CIDR use (Days 3, 5 and 7) or after CIDR use (Days 9, 11, 13 and 15). During CIDR use, serum concentrations of P4 were negatively correlated with those of E2 either in CIDRgr or in CIDR+gr, however, they were positively correlated after CIDR removal either in CIDRgr or in CIDR+gr. Regarding to the calving rate, it was highest in CIDR+gr whereas CIDRgr showed the lowest one. Conclusions: It was concluded that the AD3E pretreatment protocol of she-camels before insertion of CIDR could be used successfully during the breeding season to improve fertility in she-camels whereas the serum ovarian hormones profile and calving rates were clearly changed due to pretreatment of she-camels with AD3E before CIDR insertion.

Permasalahan yang terjadi pada PT X adalah permasalahan dalam aktivitas pemindahan barang pada proses pengeringan menuju proses pengemasan yang dirasa kurang ergonomis dan memiliki tingkat resiko cidera yang tinggi. Tujuan dalam penelitian ini adalah melakukan pengidentifikasian cidera yang dialami para pekerja menggunakan kuisioner NBM, menentukan hasil dari analisi postur kerja menggunakan metode REBA dan menentukan rekomendasi perbaikan untuk mengurangi resiko cidera pada postur kerja para pekerja. Dengan melakukan penelitian ini didapatkan hasil bahwa cidera muskuloskeletal yang paling sering dialami oleh para pekerja adalah bagian bahu, lengan pergelangan tangan, lutut dan alas kaki. Untuk hasil dari penilaian REBA mendapatkan skor 10 level resiko tinggi hinga level 11 resiko sangat tinggi. Langkah perbaikan yang dilakukan adalah dengan merancang dan membuat alat bantu dan memberikan rekomendasi cara kerja alat tersebut.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the ability ofBifidobacteriumstrains to prevent the effects associated withClostridium difficileinfection in a hamster model of enterocolitis. After clindamycin treatment (30 mg/kg), animals were infected intragastrically withC. difficile(5×108CFU per animal). Seven days prior to antibiotic administration, probiotic treatment was started by administering bacterial suspensions of bifidobacteria in drinking water. Strains CIDCA 531, CIDCA 5310, CIDCA 5316, CIDCA 5320, CIDCA 5323 and CIDCA 5325 were used. Treatment was continued during all the experimental period. Development of diarrhoea, enterocolitis and mortality were evaluated. All the infected animals belonging to the placebo group developed enterocolitis (5/5) and only two dead (2/5) whereas in the group administered withBifidobacterium bifidumstrain CIDCA 5310 the ratio of animals with enterocolitis or dead decreased significantly (1/5 and 0/5 respectively). Biological activity of caecum contents was evaluated in vitro on Vero cells. Animals treated with strain CIDCA 5310 presented lower biological activity than those belonging to the placebo group. The present study shows the potential of selected strains of bifidobacteria to antagonise, in vivo, the virulence ofC. difficile.
