Abstract:
A probiotic strain oflactobacilliwas isolated from traditional soft Churpi cheese of Yak milk and found positive for biosurfactant production.Lactobacillireduced the surface tension of phosphate buffer saline (PBS) from 72.0 to 39.5 mNm−1pH 7.2 and its critical micelle concentration (CMC) was found to be 2.5 mg mL−1. Low cost production ofLactobacilliderived biosurfactant was carried out at lab scale fermenter which yields 0.8 mg mL−1biosurfactant. The biosurfactant was found least phytotoxic and cytotoxic as compared to the rhamnolipid and sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) at different concentration. Structural attributes of biosurfactant were determined by FTIR, NMR (1H and13C), UPLC-MS, and fatty acid analysis by GCMS which confirmed the presence of glycolipid type of biosurfactant closely similar to xylolipids. Biosurfactant is mainly constituted by lipid and sugar fractions. The present study outcomes provide valuable information on structural characterization of the biosurfactant produced byL. helveticusMRTL91. These findings are encouraging for the application ofLactobacilliderived biosurfactant as nontoxic surface active agents in the emerging field of biomedical applications.

Abstract:
The article describes the folklore and literary evolution of the historical figure Marusia Churai in the prose, poetic, dramatic works of writers of the XIX– XX centuries. The concept of «folk song» is actualized, where folklorisms have a text-centric purpose for linguistic portrayal of the studied character. It is noted that Marusia Churai was the probable author of several dozen songs, which are now considered folk, and that the history of entering the literature of the author of the songs began with the folk ballad «Oh, don’t go, Hryts», which echoes similar pagan mythological legends. Based on the research of famous scientists, all the author’s texts, integrated with the plot of Hrits’s poisoning, are divided into two groups: 1) those that freely interpret the ballad; 2) those in which the content of the folk song is intertwined with ancient legends about Marusia Churai. A comparative analysis of semantic-semantic transformations, indicative of individual-author verbalization of thought in a number of artistic texts. Emphasis is placed on the novel «Marusia, Malorussian Sappho» by O. Shakhovskyi and on the historical novel in verse «Marusia Churai» by L. Kostenko. These are key works in which the precedent name of the author of the songs reflects the essence of the linguistic and aesthetic signs of Ukrainian culture, plays the role of a mythologeme or linguoculture, respectively. In conclusion, it is emphasized that Ukrainian society, being at the turn of worldviews, needs the protection of ethnolinguistic cultural values that maintain the connection of generations, accumulate the historical memory of the people.

Abstract:
Trans-boundary Rivers are one of the major causes of conflict among the riparian states. Mathabhanga Churni is one of such 54 shared rivers between India and Bangladesh flowing in the Ganga Brahmaputra river basin which is a major source of fresh water as well as livelihood support to the people of its riverbanks for various reasons. The water quality of Churni deteriorated due to industrial waste disposal by a company, located in Bangladesh, in the river Churni. Moreover, in Indian side there are open defecation in the river Churni along with industrial and municipal waste disposal which are responsible for degradation of water quality affecting the livelihood of the common people of the riverbank of both sides. Initiatives have been taken to revive the course of river and purify its water quality by the National Green Tribunal, local environmental activists, like-minded people and organizations through awareness programme and protest. The article argues that initiatives for revival of the river Churni were taken by local activists and Government agencies but there is an acute absence of trans-boundary attention from both sides. While both the countries are busy with the Teesta and the Ganga as a result diplomatic parleys, government officials seem to have ignored the issue of pollution in the river Churni which can actually act as a catalyst for inculcating trans-boundary water diplomacy. It finds that diplomatic or bilateral engagements, issues revolving around Centre-State relations also need to be addressed in order to prevent an ecological disaster on both sides of the boundary and also to sustain livelihoods.

Abstract:
The paper analyzes Lina Kostenko’s historical novel in verse portraying the life of the 17th century Ukrainian minstrel poet Marusia Churai, condemned to death for poisoning her faithless lover. This work, which grows out of Kostenko’s individualized mythical perception of Marusia Churai legend, represents a unique individual construct in which the heroines’ quest for self-realization is kept in tune with the same yearning of the poetess herself; the author’s attitude towards the myth resembles the heroine’s relations with history. The narrative mode of the novel functions mainly in three aspects; these are the heroine’s confrontation with the carnivalized reality of her trial; her subjective journey inward, into the ruined self, when her execution was pending; and her objective pilgrimage outward, into the history of her ruined land, after getting pardon. The paper touches upon various aspects of the heroine’s perception of history. The main character is depicted as a witness of contemporary events and a bearer of the Word who keeps harmony with the sacred truth of the past. The Hetman’s ‘pardon’ allows Marusia to move freely through history in order to achieve a deeper understanding of her ruined land and seize its spirit. In the experience of the heroine the historical reality appears as versatile and polyphonic, at the same time remaining integral and inseparable from her personality. Kostenko asserts the rights of poets to create their own epochs, to recreate the past or present from within their own mythical experience, becoming thus not only myth-bearers but also mythmakers.

Abstract. Fish community structure and water chemistry of two tropical rivers of West Bengal, an eastern province of India, were studied for two annual cycles (January 2003–December 2004). Water quality and fish community structure reflected a higher degree of pollution in the Churni river than in the Jalangi river. We observed that 63.6% of fish species had disappeared from the polluted Churni river in 20 yr. For protection of fish biodiversity and enhancement of fish production, a rational management program should be implemented in Churni river. Warning: Triplicate publication

Abstract:
Ulcerative colitis is a chronic disease with unclear pathogenesis and difficult to cure. Its drug treatment is highly dependent and has obvious side effects. In this study, dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) was used to establish a mouse model of ulcerative colitis, and Chunpi decoction (10 mL/d) were used for intervention. The body weight, disease activity index (DAI) and colon length of mice were detected, and the liver and kidney function indexes and oxidative stress levels of mice were detected by kits. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to detect the levels of inflammatory factors, and the colon tissue sections were observed. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) was used to analyze the content of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) in the feces of mice. Among the findings: Compared with the DSS group, the body weight and colon length of the mice in the Chunpi decoction intervention group increased, DAI decreased, liver and kidney function improved, the expression of pro-inflammatory factors decreased significantly (P < 0.01), and the expression of anti-inflammatory factors increased significantly (P < 0.01). The level of inflammatory markers were significantly decreased (P < 0.01), the content of SCFAs in feces was up-regulated, and the structure of colon epithelium was improved. Chunpi decoction can improve intestinal mucosal injury and liver and kidney dysfunction in mice, and has a good therapeutic effect on DSS-induced ulcerative colitis in mice.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
A new species of the genus Pristimantis is described from Churi tepui, in the Chimanta massif, Estado Bolívar, Venezuela. The new species was discovered during the Muchimuk Expedition 2009, an ongoing speleological exploration of the Charles Brewer cave system, the largest sandstone cave on Earth. The species is known from only one female, collected near the mouth of the Muchimuk cave, in “non-gramineous tubiform meadows”. The new species can be distinguished from other Pristimantis on the highlands of the Guiana Shield by its unique coloration, indistinct tympanum, dorsal and ventral skin smooth, well-developed lateral fringes on the fingers and toes, and basal webbing on Toes III–V.

Abstract:

Abstract:
The Trinity Pigtoe, Fusconaia chunii (Lea, 1862), is a freshwater mussel endemic to the Trinity River drainage in Texas. Here, we report the first population of F. chunii in the San Jacinto River drainage in Texas. We identified three specimens of F. chunii using DNA barcoding, which were morphologically indistinguishable from syntopic Fusconaia flava (Rafinesque, 1820). A similar issue occurs in the Trinity River drainage. Fusconaia chunii is listed as state threatened, and future research is necessary to assess its status within the San Jacinto River drainage
