Abstract:
There are several studies looking into the differences between state-run and church-run schools in the recruitment and retention of their teachers. In Hungary, where teachers of church-run schools do not have to meet any special official requirements, church-run education has seen a rapid expansion since 2011. The denominational schools in Hungary are faith-based government-dependent private schools. The number of both Catholic and Protestant schools has increased twofold, and the expansion is still continuing. The vast majority of the newest denominational schools used to be run by the state and were taken over extremely rapidly, along with all their teachers and students, by the church. In our present study, based on our analysis of the survey “Teachers in church-run educational institutions” (2015–2017, N = 1134), we compare Catholic and Protestant teachers from church-run schools. Our results show that there are only slight differences in teachers’ values in the different denominational schools, which implies that the value systems of those schools are highly similar. The detected differences do not depend on the denominations that operate the schools but rather on the individual teachers’ religious affiliation. The most marked differences, however, have been detected between the value systems of religious and non-religious teachers.

Abstract:
The requirements as a church pastor in the book of 1 Timothy 3:1-7 are very relevant to the life of the church today in determining the pastor of the church. This application by the local church is very useful in finding a qualified church pastor according to Bible values. This article appears based on text research conducted with the method of grammatical study which finally found biblical truth about the requirements for church pastors. This grammatical study uses library research methods that rely on scientific references, credible books and online articles. The author finds that the values that Paul conveyed to Timothy can be a reference for appointing a pastor in the local congregation. The implication obtained based on text research is that a church pastor must comply with the conditions taught by the apostle Paul, physically and spiritually.

Abstract:
This article analyses the results of sociological research on value orientations in modern Russian society, based on the philosophical explication of the concept of ‘value’. The analysis allows us to recognize that the significance of religious values in the value system of modern society depends on both – the goals of research and their methodological foundations. A philosophical understanding of the essence and nature of values is, therefore, central. Values are principles of a meaningful human life that give ideas about what is significant and important in one’s life, legitimising one’s activities as the realisation of one’s being. This article emphasises that the majority of respondents to the study, who belong to the Russian Orthodox Church, do not separate the confessional values from the moral values of traditional society. This tendency is also seen in the documents defining the social activities of the Church, although the division between confessional and moral values exists in the theology and religious philosophy of the Russian Orthodox Church. The authors of the article consider the essence and nature of values presented in Russian religious philosophy relevant to a religious worldview and assert the ontological, not moral, nature of values.

Abstract:
This article focuses on the relationship between church population and sustainability. We carried out the study on a sample of Presbyterian churches in South Korea, and implemented dynamic optimization of the church population based on the Susceptible–Infected–Recovered (SIR) epidemic model. In particular, System Dynamics (SD) and Agent-Based Model (ABM) simulations are performed for a prototype model with key parameters that contribute to church growth. Potential parameters reflecting sustainability for churches trigger dramatic growth in church populations. We categorized five dimensions of sustainability with various multi-dimensional indicators in order to measure the level of sustainability, and we obtained the values of the indicators by analyzing a number of news articles searched with a text mining technique. As time-dependent values of sustainability are imposed on the generic SD model for church population dynamics as sustainable potential parameters, the optimized result reproduces specific features for the church population. We discuss the roles of key parameters for sustainable church growth, and the contributions of the churches to sustainability.

Abstract:
Purpose. The Emory Prevention Research Center’s Cancer Prevention and Control Research Network mini-grant program funded faith-based organizations to implement policy and environmental change to promote healthy eating and physical activity in rural South Georgia. This study describes the existing health promotion environment and its relationship to church member behavior. Design. Cross-sectional. Setting. Data were obtained from parishioners of six churches in predominantly rural South Georgia. Subjects. Participants were 319 church members with average age of 48 years, of whom 80% were female and 84% were black/African-American. Measures. Questionnaires assessed perceptions of the existing church health promotion environment relative to nutrition and physical activity, eating behavior and intention to use physical activity facilities at church, and eating and physical activity behaviors outside of church. Analysis. Multiple regression and ordinal logistic regression using generalized estimating equations were used to account for clustered data. Results. Results indicate that delivering messages via sermons and church bulletins, having healthy eating programs, and serving healthy foods are associated with participants’ self-reported consumption of healthy foods at church (all p values ≤ .001). Serving more healthy food and less unhealthy food was associated with healthier eating in general but not to physical activity in general (p values ≤ .001). Conclusion. The church environment may play an important role in supporting healthy eating in this setting and more generally.

Abstract:
This paper examines the perception of transparency among the Church Councils with an ethical-theological analysis and an analysis of financial accountability. The background of the problem is that there are different perceptions among the congregations regarding church financial accountability. These differences reflect differences in theological ethical content. The data collection method used is a mix-method, which uses quantitative tools by distributing questionnaires and in-depth interviews with several church assemblies. The final number of respondents is 167 church assemblies from two church groups, namely the Indonesian Christian Church of the Central Java Regional Synod (Gereja Kristen Indonesia Sinode Wilayah Jateng/GKI SW Jateng) Region of Solo and the Javanese Christian Churches (Gereja-gereja Kristen Jawa/GKJ) Region of North Yogyakarta. The result is a moral obligation is proven to have a significant effect on transparency and intention to disclose financial information to the congregation. This moral obligation to make church finances transparent is based on the church community or congregation members. The ethical drive mainly comes from the community. Theologically, this result on the one hand confirms the existence of the church as a community of faith that drives the formation of values. On the other hand, it presents an opportunity for the church to make a program that formed a personal value of transparency in the Church Council. The research contribution is to the development of the Church Council's guidance on financial accountability and the development of theological ethical values.

Abstract:
Orthodox–Evangelical relationships are dominated by proselytism (at least in Eastern Europe and in the former Soviet Union). This is understood as church conversion practiced through unfair means among people who are already Christians, belonging to so-called “historical churches.” However, beyond it, there is a real potential for cooperation using moral values as a starting point. As there is an increasing disagreement between the Orthodox and mainline Protestant on moral values, the Orthodox and Evangelicals might increase their cooperation as they witness traditional values of Christianity. This kind of cooperation might be partially contextual, but it is based on Biblicism, which both Orthodox and Evangelicals share as a core value. As this cooperation, based on shared moral values, certainly has real potential, and has to be used for the good of Christianity, it might also have its limitations. Orthodox Christians and Evangelicals have shared common moral values, but each one of them might interpret the content of these values differently. One of the differences in interpreting and explaining the content of moral values might be given by the different interpretations of what is called church tradition.

Abstract:
The social teachings of Christian churches answer a number of important questions of public life. Such issues include dignity, freedom, and human rights. The task of Church social teaching is to assess modern socially significant problems, state-church relations, and church-social issues and to formulate the official position of the Church on the challenges of modernity based on centuries-old Christian teachings and church traditions. The subject of this research is a comparative analysis of Catholic and Orthodox social teachings on the issue of granting a Christian personal rights and freedoms. The research methodology is based on a comparative analysis of church documents in cultural-historical and socio-political contexts. The work examines the history and development of legal doctrine in the Roman Catholic and Russian Orthodox Churches. Particular attention is paid to an examination of official church documents, including papal encyclicals, documents of the Second Vatican Council of the Roman Catholic Church, documents of social issues adopted at the Councils of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church. Based on the historical and ideological context of the two positions in relation to human rights, the work reveals the general provisions and differences in the Catholic and Orthodox understanding of this issue. The article argues that, despite the existing differences, these teachings are united by a common desire to bring a moral dimension and an orientation towards Christian values into public and political life.

Abstract The paper addresses issues regarding the current balance between spirituality and administration in different church denominations using an interdisciplinary approach which combines management science and theology. It presents a comparative study of organizational culture of the Roman Catholic Church, a Lutheran church, and a Reformed church with the use of the questionnaire based on the Competing Values Framework (Cameron/Quinn) and qualitative interviews with leading persons in church. The authors discuss the findings from two different but complementary perspectives: in relation to the four types of organizational cultures in the Cameron/Quinn framework, and as a result of the specific denominational semantics represented in the questionnaire used for the study. The results show how the question of modernity is reflected in organizational culture of churches, and how deeply the respondents’ perception of church is influenced by inherent normativity. One of the central conclusions is that religiously rooted normativity serves as an instrument of balancing the administrative and the spiritual in church.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the problems of the modern family faced with the complicated challenges of the XXI century in post-secular society. In place of the religious world order, which regulated family relations for millenia, based on unchanging religious dogmas, a new era comes, which strongly refuses religious consecration of marriage and family, in a new way constituting the relations of secular state and church, desacralizes morality. The secular gradually covers the family and family ties, partly solving prejudiced problems of inequality of articles and generations, inequalities of social roles, and so on. Instead of changing the religious model of the family, a new type of family relationship comes in, based on the freedom of each member of the family, freeing them from slavery. However, the secular day raises new problems, including social orphanhood, violence, single-parent families, drug addiction, etc., which need to be resolved in the post-secular society. These problems are perceived as religious (religious-based families) and non-religious (families that do not put God or gods at the heart of their relationship) families who are looking for ways out of the crisis. The article defines the signs of this post-secular society, where both religious and secular ones exist simultaneously. In return, the separation of the secular from the religious and the suppression of the religious secular, the absolute priority of the secular over the religious comes another model. Religion on the wave of religious revival is actively included in the public sphere, is clearly represented in various social projects, including family, so that religion gradually increases its authority and influence. In this situation, facing the complex challenges facing the family, the religious and secular worlds are forced to seek such forms of communion in order to jointly solve the problems that have arisen. Ukraine still has to overcome mutual distrust, ignorance of opportunities of each other, accumulate resources, since both the church and the state work on one subject - a citizen of the state and a believer church.

Abstract:
The paper deals in the issues of the evolution in the gender policy in Ireland and the role in that evolution of the women’s movement and the Catholic Church – two actors who took opposite positions in the process. It considers an influence of the Irish movement for women’s liberation on the change in the gender policy of the state, fighting the influence of the Catholic Church. Based on documents of the women’s liberation movement, legislative documents and materials from periodicals, the dynamics of the gender agenda development is revealed, as well as the factors of its change. The article reviews the change in policy in such issues as contraception, abortion, same-sex marriage, divorce, etc. The author concludes that there was the key role of the Catholic Church in the formation of a patriarchal society in independent Ireland of the first half – mid 20th century and that the disappointment of the Irish in the authority of the church played a significant role in the change of the gender agenda. Contemporary Ireland’s progressive policy on the gender, family and sexuality is associated with the influence of liberation movements in other Western countries, the fall of the influence of the Catholic Church, and the tradition of active women’s participation in the Irish national liberation movement.

Abstract:
The article deals with the specifics of religion as a regulator of relations in society and family. The analysis of the actualization of Christian family values and the form of their implementation on the example of the Church "New Generation", in the conditions of the revival of religious life and the development of Ukraine as a polyconfessional state is analyzed. Shown is the change in the role of the church and the extent of the impact of Christian values on the social in the regional dimension, as well as those social problems that the church should deal with. It turns out that the crisis of a modern family prompts Christian denominations to react to the existing state of affairs. This forms a confessional specificity in understanding the roots and ways of solving the problems of society. Charismatic churches today are characterized by increasing recognition, increasing tolerance in society, deepening of institutionalizing change, and the formation of their own theology. They function in the Ukrainian society and cause more or less influence on different components of society. Charismatics do not have a single center or doctrine, so the purpose of this article is to clarify the peculiarities of actualization of Christian family values and the specifics of their implementation in the theology and activities of the charismatic Church "The New Generation"). The task of the article is to determine the specifics of theological understanding, the main forms of the practical solution of the charismatic Church "New Generation" of those problems that exist in the Ukrainian society and are related to the family as a primary collective. Another task is to investigate the influence of the church's role on marriage relations and the family in the region. It is stated that the theological basis of the Church "The New Generation" is in the dynamics of formation, based on the general religious principles of Christianity in general and Protestantism in particular. The Christian system of values has a theistic-objectivist character for them. The Protestant principle of "Soli Deo gloria" ("only God's glory") laid the foundation for the formation of the family values of carismatic spirituality carriers. The charismatic church as an institution reacts to constant changes in all spheres of society's life. It becomes mobile, open to change, modernizes, and tests various forms of solving relevant social problems associated with the family. The charismatic church's position on marriage is serious and well-considered. In the ecclesiastical environment, a series of seminars devoted to family and marriage issues have been developed, and preventive and spiritual work is being conducted on the prevention of hasty marriages. The region's statistics indicate positive changes towards strengthening the family's institute, reducing the number of divorces, and so on. Such indicators allow us to speak about the positive influence of the activity of the charismatic Church "The New Generation" on church parishioners, on the situation in the city and the region, as the "New Generation" subsidiary churches are located throughout the region. This testifies to the effectiveness of the practical activities of the charismatic Church "New Generation" in the region and the desire to extend its experience to other regions of Ukraine. The results of the research can be used in religious studies courses, in particular in the teaching of disciplines related to the study of Christian and non-Christian trends, the specifics of new religious movements, as well as for state bodies, with the aim of improving the state-confessional relations and harmonizing social work with the population.

The church has the responsibility to pass on the Christian faith and values to the youth of the church. Meanwhile, the development of technology and information has had a tremendous impact on the lives of young people, which is not always positive for the development of faith. There is a negative impact that the Catholic Church has to face on its youth. The Church faces a difficult challenge in passing on the faith to its youth, because the Church's proclamation is no longer attractive to young people, the digital generation. This study was conducted by studying literature from various sources in this digital era. Based on the literature study and observations, the author concludes that in order to inherit catholic faith to young people, the Church must understand the characteristics of the younger generation. Despite the explosive growth of the nonprofit sector in recent years, many charitable organizations have closed their doors. Evolution of the health care delivery system in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area in Minnesota has favored large, integrated service networks at the expense of small, church-based nonprofit organizations that have long served as a means of neighborhood organizing, social outreach, and the proliferation of community values. Interviews with three defunct church-based health care organizations provide the basis for the authors' observations that relatively sudden and wide-scale changes in the health care environment have legislated against small health care organizations, selecting them out for extinction.

At creation, the family was made to be a stable institution which parents and children would live in peace and harmony and fulfil the purpose a of God. The changing realities of time and place have greatly affected the family framework all over the world. This 21st century, families are characterised by incessant crises, witnessing gradual disintegration of family norms, values and cohesion. It is against this background that the paper makes an ethical reflection on the Tiv and Christian family values. The study employs analytic and evaluative methods and relied on secondary sources data collection. It was found in the paper that, the Tiv family like the Christian family has basic family values like love, chastity, responsible parenting, faithful unions, discipline, respect for elders and economic corporation among other things. Both cultures frowned at divorce, irresponsible parenting, same sex unions, incest and every vice that is against the development of a healthy family. Based on the findings of the study, therefore recommends among other things that: there is need to strengthen moral education in the society. This must be a shared responsibility of the family, Church and schools. Counseling is necessary in helping families overcome most challenges facing the family today thus, is recommended. And the Church and civil authorities must work towards ensuring stable marriages to ensure and create stable families. This could be done by creating good policies that promote economic sustainability and social welfare.

Abstract:
Peacebuilding with all members of the community in view of stemming potential and existing tension has become a necessity. In majority of politically and ethnically instigated violence, such as in the Kenyan post-election violence of 2008 and 2017, the Church was a major player in peace building processes as well as in the reconciliation process. This paper endeavoured to explore the available peace building models adopted by the Church in Kenya since 2008. To attain the mentioned objectives, the study engaged the Fowler theory of faith development. This was a qualitative research that applied the use of interviews and Focus Group discussions in the collection of primary data while secondary data used in this research was acquired through the review of documents and other relevant literature in public libraries and Church archives. Purposive sampling techniques were used to identify respondents, and the data analysed using context analysis. The study established Peace building models used by the Church were Mounting of Humanitarian Response Model and Policy advocacy which were done through Dialogue, Seminars, Evangelism, Sports and cultural events. These approaches to some extent helped to mitigate tension and violence in the region. Youth mentorship programs by the Church contributed to instilling the values of unity, honesty, peaceful co-existence as well as self-reliance among youth in the region and the society at large. The study recommends that religious organizations such as the National Council of Churches in Kenya (NCCK) and leaders should pursue peace building by ensuring that justice to all is achieved through methods that have respect for the people and also allow for the restoration of relations that foster and seek to correct injustices in regard to the fundamental values of human rights. The Kenyan Church should join many other faith-based peace advocates who endeavour to put into practise the principles of their belief in a manner that enables the building of local, regional, nationwide, as well as global machineries favourable for peace.

Abstract:
The study assessed the effects of funeral celebrations on church activities with reference to The Church of Pentecost. Data was sourced through key informant interviews and focus group discussions. The study focused on the Birifor ethnic group in the Savanna Region of Ghana. The findings underscore the likelihood that people belonging to the Birifor ethnic group over rate funerals. For instance, they would put everything on hold if a family member, distant or nuclear, kicks the bucket. This tends to impact negatively on church activities; church attendance is always low during funerals. Members do not participate fully in church activities; they tend to have divided attention even at church. The following recommendations were made based on the findings of the study: there is the need for the church to piggy-back on funerals to engage in active evangelism. There is the need for the church to accept the culture of the people and tailor their programmes to suit it by adopting and contextualizing their funeral celebrations to eliminate inherent practices that contradict Christian values. In addition, the church might want to intensify education on cultural issues in such a way that members become aware of where they ought to stand as Christians.

Abstract:
Objective. To identify pastors’ perceptions of the Black Church’s role in promoting adolescent sexual health and preventing teen pregnancy. The Black Church and pastor are important partners in addressing health disparities in the Black community, especially those addressing sensitive issues as teen pregnancy. Methods. Semistructured interviews ( n = 31) were conducted with Black Church pastors in two southwestern U.S. cities from September 2014 to July 2015. The question path was developed based on interviews with local leaders, literature searches, and key informant pastor interviews. Questions included knowledge/beliefs about sexuality education, church’s role in preventing teen pregnancy, and implementation obstacles. Interviews were transcribed and thematically analyzed. Results. (1) All pastors believed that the Black Church should address teen pregnancy with parents and congregants. (2) Two major obstacles emerged: (a) all pastors perceived social consequences, including resistant parents and (b) discomfort discussing contraceptives/condoms. (3) All pastors were willing to partner with organizations, but most had reservations based on conflicting missions/values. Conclusions. Black Church pastors support teen pregnancy prevention programs in the church; however, public health partners must be willing to address the church’s unique needs and mission.

Abstract The main causes of damage to wooden structures in historic buildings are the effects of weather conditions and related aging processes. In the case of the roof truss of a 16th-century church in Lubów, the technical condition is additionally affected by leaking roof covering, damaged gutters, downpipes and flashings. Some elements of the wooden structure underwent biological corrosion, which lost its strength values. The roof truss of a 16th-century church in Lubów comes from the period of construction of the building. Due to the historic values of the structure of the truss, the renovation works do not intervene when the works would change its form, shape and type. The truss renovation is based on the assumption of maintaining original construction solutions, location of elements and cross-sections.

AbstractThe effect of legislative changes on same-sex unions on people’s attitudes toward homosexuality is a fairly well-researched topic. There is less research on how state legislation on same-sex unions has affected churches’ attitudes and policies on registered partnership and same-sex marriage. In this paper we focus on attitudinal polarisation in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland (ELCF) in the matter of same-sex marriage and why there is a gap in the attitudinal development of the church and the society. The analysis is based upon six sets of representative surveys among the Finnish population, the employees of the ELCF and the elected officials of the ELCF between the years 2012–2017. Whereas the majorities (55%) among the Finnish population and among the ELCF members (54%) are already favourable to the idea that same-sex couples should have the right to marry in the church, the ELCF has not approved of it. This situation has polarised the ELCF from within. Empirical analysis shows that the reason for the discrepancy between popular opinion and the ELCF stance stems from the fact that ELCF decision makers are older and more religious than the general membership. However, the data also shows that even among the most religious, younger age groups are already more favourable towards the same-sex marriage. Therefore, it is likely that the polarisation will lessen over time as more and more religious people accept same-sex marriage.

Abstract:
This article discusses the social identity of the early church according to the book of Acts. Social identity is understood as a value that is built together in a group and this value becomes the identity of the group. In obtaining the results of the study, we used the literature study method to examine the literature including examining key words in Greek. There are six keywords, namely pisteuontes, homothumadon, sunegmenoi, diakonein, douleon, and huperetein. These six words describe the values ??that became the identity of the early church, namely living in fellowship and service. The Holy Spirit makes the church community is a community of of fellowship. This term describes the ritual aspect that is carried out continuously to maintain a solid community, which is based on God's love. Another aspect that is strengthened is the aspect of loving service, which is part of the actual life of the community. Serving of love is done holistically, not only exclusively for the fellowship community but also for the society. This ministry is a distinguishing feature for the church community, as well as the most effective means of evangelism. Keywords: fellowship, church, identity, Acts

The article is devoted to the political usage of modern Russian commemoration days and public holidays associated with traditional values. In particular, the article discusses the Day of Christianization of Kievan Rus, the Day of Slavic culture and writing, the Day of family, love and fidelity, Father's Day and Mother's Day. The need to expand the holiday calendar and the existence of holidays with "Russian roots", which would be dedicated to the preservation of culture and historical heritage, was announced at the beginning of the third presidential term of V.V. Putin. The article shows that the political regime pays more attention to commemorative days, which are already based on a historical narrative. Festive events and practices become the subject of construction by non-state and public actors (the Russian Orthodox Church, foundations, NGOs), and regional administrations. Memorable days and holidays are important for actors whose public actions are associated with the support of the state in difficult times.

The article aims to reconstruct the system of religious views of Peter I, and first of all, his understanding of the Christian doctrine of salvation and justification of man. The attitude to many other spheres of church life, in turn, depended on the solution of this theological issue. Having conceived to carry out a radical reform of Russian Church, Peter took measures aimed at the spiritual transformation of the Russian people, the restructuring of the national consciousness, their «new catechization». That is why he attached great importance to the task of creating a new type of catechism intended for spiritual enlightenment of the Russian people. Peter’s reform was based on the desire to purify the popular faith from «superstitions and prejudices,» which, in his opinion, included many canons and dogmas of the Orthodox Church. The analysis of Peter’s statements (as well as his ideologue Feofan Prokopovich) about Christianity and the Church allows us to conclude that Peter I’s religious ideas had features characteristic of the Protestant system of values, which he persistently sought to instill in his subjects.

Abstract:
This article builds on previous research around the exploration of the content of church-related tweets. It does so by exploring whether the qualitative thematic coding of such tweets can, in part, be automated by the use of machine learning. It compares three supervised machine learning algorithms to understand how useful each algorithm is at a classification task, based on a dataset of human-coded church-related tweets. The study finds that one such algorithm, Naïve-Bayes, performs better than the other algorithms considered, returning Precision, Recall and F-measure values which each exceed an acceptable threshold of 70%. This has far-reaching consequences at a time where the high volume of social media data, in this case, Twitter data, means that the resource-intensity of manual coding approaches can act as a barrier to understanding how the online community interacts with, and talks about, church. The findings presented in this article offer a way forward for scholars of digital theology to better understand the content of online church discourse.

Abstract:
The church exists because there is a mission. Therefore, the living church should remain focused on the mission of evangelism. Evangelism is a top priority that must be done by the church in a wide dimension, to the ends of the earth. In reality, there are many churches that are not active in the worldwide evangelistic missionary movement. Why? Is it because the church doesn't want to be involved in the mission or because the church doesn't know about missions? Evangelism must be an ongoing movement. Evangelism is carried out cross-culturally both within the country itself and abroad where neglected tribes (STA) are still found. In an effort to maximize cross-cultural evangelism, the church needs to hold congregational member development continuously. Coaching is intended to change and equalize perspectives or perspectives on cross-cultural evangelism missions. Based on observations and interviews conducted with several church missionaries (TUG) of the POUK Ichtus Bumi Dirgantara Permai Bekasi, it was found that the obstacles to cross-cultural evangelism were not primarily the ethnic groups to be served, but the readiness of the envoys who would serve cross-culturally. These obstacles are mainly related to language, culture and life values that should be studied carefully before serving in these neglected tribes. By referring to the Bible, Acts 8:26-40, the principles and patterns of cross-cultural evangelism are found by studying the profile of Philip who preached the gospel across cultures. Abstract The internal diameter of a tube in a ‘church window’ condenser was estimated using an entropy generation minimization approach. The adopted model took into account the entropy generation due to heat transfer and flow resistance from the cooling-water side. Calculations were performed considering two equations for the flow resistance coefficient for four different roughness values of a condenser tube. Following the analysis, the internal diameter of the tube was obtained in the range of 17.5 mm to 20 mm (the current internal diameter of the condenser tube is 22 mm). The calculated diameter depends on and is positively related to the roughness assumed in the model.

Abstract:
The Church of the SubGenius, usually regarded as a “parody religion,” offers a sophisticated critique of Western values focused on resistance to a consumerist conspiracy. This article draws on Guy Debord’s contention that the capitalist spectacle has replaced the religious worldview, rendering everyday life mysterious and the acquisition of goods compulsive, and argues that, when stripped of science fiction tropes, the Church of the SubGenius’ vision of a world in the grip of a totalitarian materialist conspiracy is largely realistic. Yet, this “rational” rejection of consumerism is undermined by the portrayal of J. R. “Bob” Dobbs, the salesman messiah, based (partly) on L. Ron Hubbard, and the science fictions trappings of the extraterrestrial conspiracy. It is argued that humor is the key to making sense of the Church, as it integrates the bad taste, shock value, and contrariness of the religion into an effective spiritual path of resistance.

Abstract:
AbstractPreaching and teaching sound doctrine based on Christocentric doctrine is of utmost importance to Christian belief, as it is the cornerstone of the New Testament, the Holy Trinity (the Father, the Son , and the Holy Spirit), and the Apostles. So we will not do less as Christians. The purpose of a sermon is to bring about holy transformation through the Word of God in the life of the listener. The preachers need to help the audience put the Word into their lives. With respect to this, Bryan Chapell notes that “without application, a preacher has no reason to preach.” Thus he proposed five questions for the application for Christocentric doctrinal preaching, which should first be addressed to the preachers themselves. Through these questions, preachers can help to change the life of congregation by applying Christocentric doctrinal preaching. Furthermore, evidence of transformation within believers is seen in the way that the likeness and glory of Christ is increasingly reflected (2 Corinthians 3:18). The apostle Paul said, “You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ” (Romans 8:9). Believers must be led by the Spirit of God to be considered as children of God. And it is by the power of the Spirit of God that Christ is living within them. The life transformed reflects Apostle Paul's thoughts in Galatians: “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me” (Galatians 2:20). Conversely, if the church leaders ignore Christocentric doctrinal preaching and the application of the Word of God in the church members’ lives, then the transformation of the believers’ lives will be thwarted. This study uses descriptive and phenomenological analysis of the data collected to find out why there is no change in some christians life-style and values. The results of this analysis will give impetus to revitalise the church to have a healthy theology for a healthy church of transformed lives in Christ Jesus.

Abstract:
David Korten proposes a Fourth Generation approach (1990) to development that is value driven and sees social movements take centre stage in promoting a more just global society. Theologian Ignatius Swart (2006) has argued that Korten’s approach holds significant value for civil society role players such as the church, whose value-driven agenda may serve to resist common values expressed by the powerful in society. Recently, the EXPOSED 2013 campaign has emerged as such a Christian social movement, seeking to mobilise up to 100 million Christians globally to take action against corruption. Using social media and church networks at all levels it aims to petition the G20 for more open tax regimes and greater transparency in international money flows to combat bribery and tax avoidance. This article documents and critically analyses the EXPOSED 2013 campaign through the lens of Korten’s Fourth Generation in dialogue with Swart’s faith-based analysis of Korten’s work.

Abstract:
This article draws on interview data with Chinese Christian leaders to explore how the coronavirus pandemic is affecting the Chinese Christian church in Britain. Based upon twelve semi-structured interviews conducted with Christian leaders in nine cities, the research identifies the ways in which the COVID-19 outbreak is shaping the dynamics of intragroup and intergroup connectedness within and beyond the Chinese church in Britain. It finds that COVID-19 is playing a significant role in social connectedness. This manifests in three ways: the reconfiguration of a sense of belonging at church, the perception of outreach and evangelism, and the relationship between Chinese Christians from different regional backgrounds. These findings outline that the COVID-19 pandemic is triggering both cohesion and division. On the one hand, the outbreak is functioning as an incubator for a stronger sense of belonging to the church and appears to encourage the church to reach out to seekers and the wider community. On the other hand, the pandemic is also dividing the Chinese church through conflicts in political views and social attitudes. Such conflicts, which are primarily about democratic values and views of China's communist regime, are particularly observable between Mandarin-speaking Christians from mainland Chinese backgrounds and Cantonese-speaking Christians from Hong Kong backgrounds. The article argues that the coronavirus pandemic has initiated deeper reconstruction and reform in the Chinese Christian community in Britain in terms of organisation and mission.

Abstract:
Purpose: This paper aims to assess accounting application in church financial reporting. Methodology: There were two main stages of this research methodology. Firstly, an extensive literature study was to develop the framework of the relationship between religion and accounting and to find the research gap to be fulfilled in theoretical based. Secondly, the technical research method included a case study approach to examine the current application of the church financial report and the PSAK 45 accounting application. Results: There are significant discrepancies between the Treasury Report made by the church and the financial statements made under PSAK 45. The information under PSAK 45 provides more relevant information to the stakeholders to assess how the church actualizes the theology values into its activities. Abstract:
The article analyzes such basic values of the Cossacks as patriotism and Orthodoxy. Having conducted a brief excursion into the history of the Cossacks as a social community, the authors prove that the patriotism of the Cossacks is based on their love for their Homeland, the Cossacks, their own kind and their land. The presented material analyzes the structure of the patriotic consciousness of the Cossacks, the role of patriotic relations and patriotic activity of the Cossacks in the process of strengthening and protecting the Russian statehood. The authors note that the patriotism of the Cossacks was Orthodox in nature and had a clear orientation towards the spread of Orthodoxy and the support of the Church. This was manifested in the Cossacks' adherence to the evangelical commandments of the warriors of God and other Orthodox traditions.

Abstract:
This essay deals with various issues of religious freedom and state-church relations that arose during and in connection with the Revolution of Dignity and the military and political conflict between Ukraine and Russia. I do not propose any completed answers, but I rather formulate the question which answers need, based on the fact that one of the reasons that led to both EuroMaydan and the annexation of the Crimea and the war on the Donbass is the European choice of Ukraine. This choice does not only mean the institutional integration of Ukraine into certain European structures. First of all, it predetermines the perception by the Ukrainian society and the state of a certain set of legal values (the rule of law, democracy, respect for human rights, etc.) and related values and principles that must be embodied in domestic law and order. It should also be emphasized that the following considerations are considerations of a lawyer. I do not have sufficient qualifications for religious or political analysis, and I propose only a look at the religious freedom and relations between the state and the church, which focuses on the above legal values.

Abstract:
In the current conditions of a shift in the moral values and ideological focus, the questions of interaction of various social institutions that ensure the integration of society based on the achievements of national culture are gaining relevance. Thus, there is heightened interest in the Church theme, namely the history of relations between the Russian Orthodox Church and the government. Lately, many political leaders alongside the church hierarchs, stand for integrating efforts aimed at countering national and global challenges, as well as developing a consistent system of social norms to overcome legal nihilism and build an effective civil society. In view of this, the study of the historical forms of relations between the Church and the government in Russia would facilitate the indicated processes by taking into account the experience of previous political regimes. The content of social experiments of the Bolsheviks in the territory of the former Russian Empire is explicitly described in the scientific and historical literature; however, the reasons and ideological prerequisites of confrontations between the Church and the government require clarification. This article aims to answer the question on inevitability of this conflict. For solving this problem, analysis was conducted on the works of the founders of Marxism-Leninism, which reveal the specificity of representations of the adherents of this ideology on the religious institutions prior to coming to power in Russia.

Abstract:
In the increasingly polarised debate that is American politics, religion and religious belief has garnered a significant amount of attention in recent years, particularly `on the right-wing of the political spectrum. Despite the separation of Church and State expressly laid out in the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, many Republican politicians and faith-based organisations reject the idea of a secular United States and instead assert the supremacy of Judeo-Christian values in the American political discourse. This paper seeks to examine the activities of right-wing Christian political organisations, who oppose Church/State separation and their connections to U.S. politicians, as well as the deeper causes of the Religious Right’s staunch opposition to the Establishment Clause.

Abstract:
The Churches of the Broumov region are well known for their unique baroque architecture, distinct shapes, sizes, and constitutes an integral part of the Czech cultural heritage. The St. Barbara’s Church that has been studied in this article, is in the Otovice village of Broumov. It was built in the year 1726 by Bavarian architects Christoph Dientzenhofer and Kilian Ignaz and is significant because of its religious, artistic and historic values. The main objective of this study is to evaluate the structural safety and stability of St. Barbara’s Church based on a probabilistic approach. A deterministic assessment of the structure is carried out and the results are assessed concerning the present site condition. Depending upon the observed damages, a condition for failure is defined for the structure. The uncertainties in the material parameters are considered and reliability analysis is performed to determine the reliability index, probability of failure and influence of different material parameters in the structural stability.
