Abstract:
The Odontiinae species of Iran are reviewed. Tegostoma pseudosarobiella Alipanah & Nazari sp. n. and T. tremewani Alipanah & Nazari sp. n. are newly described. Tegostoma moeschleri (Christoph, 1862) is considered as a senior synonym of T. uniforma Amsel, 1951 syn. n., T. lepidalis lepidalis (Herrich-Schäffer, 1851) as a senior synonym of T. lepidalis apurpurealis Amsel, 1970 syn. n., and Aeschremon belutschistanalis Amsel, 1959 as a senior synonym of Tegostoma marginalis Amsel, 1961 syn. n. The genus Autocharis Swinhoe, 1894 and five species, namely Aporodes dentifascialis Christoph in Romanoff, 1887, Cynaeda forsteri de Lattin, 1951, Aeschremon ochrealis Asselbergs, 2008, A. desertalis Asselbergs, 2008 and Autocharis fessalis (Swinhoe, 1887) are newly reported for the fauna of Iran. The redescription of female of Tegostoma confluentalis Hampson, 1913, male genitalia of Aeschremon belutschistanalis, and female genitalia of Epimetasia abbasalis Amsel, 1974 are presented. The hitherto unknown female of A. belutschistanalis and the hitherto unknown male of E. abbasalis are described and illustrated. The intraspecific variations of the species if present are discussed and additional new diagnostic characters to separate the closely related species are presented. Data on the geographical distribution of the Iranian species of this subfamily as well as their distribution maps are provided.

Abstract:
Quoted in Christopher Ford's profile of the composer, Crosse was referring—with characteristic wit—to the need to find his own personal style in order to escape classification as merely a disciple of a ‘Maxwell Davies School’. Crosse's Renaissance techniques and motivic delineation had always differed significantly from Davies's and in the 12 years since that article appeared, as if to prove this point, Crosse has pursued a different direction, centred on the drama and contrasts possible in the concerto or ‘concertante’. The development of his now highly personal style can be recognized as a synthesis of his earlier experiments in serial procedures. Between 1972 and 1977 Crosse wrote three concertantes: Ariadne, for oboe and 12 players (1971–2), Thel, for flute, two horns, and double string septet (1974–6), and Wildboy, for clarinet, cimbalom, and seven players (1977); pieces which share similar origins and musical processes, and provide explicit examples of his compositional methods. To illustrate this personal style, I will compare the origins and musical materials of the first two concertantes and fit them into the context of his output in the period from 1972–7.

Full text
Abstract:
Abstract The Netherlands and Denmark housed Europe’s first two postwar homophile organizations, and by the 1960s, activists were already debating anti-homosexual laws in national media (in the Netherlands) demonstrating publicly; thus Stonewall was not the origin of activism in either of these countries. Yet the events in New York City 1969 had two lasting influences in these countries: first, Stonewall catalyzed a transnational ‘consciousness’ (or solidarity) among gay and lesbian activists during a period of radicalization; and second, the Christopher Street Liberation Day 1970 inspired the visible demonstrations known today as ‘Pride’ celebrations. From 1971, Denmark’s national organization planned Christopher Street Day demonstrations every June; and that same year, a radical Gay Liberation Front split off from the association. From 1977, the Netherlands planned its own late-June demonstrations, often with transnational themes (e.g. Anita Bryant in 1977, the Iranian Revolution in 1979). In the following decades, these demonstrations of gay/lesbian visibility moved to August, and Denmark (and Belgium) dropped Christopher Street from event names. Yet scholars, activists, and the general public still evoke the memory of the first Liberation Day when referring to a ‘post-Stonewall’ era in the Netherlands and Denmark.

Abstract:
Jahrhunderts siehe Wundt (1939). [3] Gideon Stiening zählt Mendelssohn jedoch zur deutschen Schulmetaphysik (Stiening, 2014, S. 55).

RAJAEI, HOSSEIN, AXEL HAUSMANN, and ROBERT TRUSCH. "Taxonomic review of the genus Rhodostrophia Hübner, 1823 (Geometridae: Sterrhinae) in Iran." Zootaxa 5118, no. 1 (March 23, 2022): 1–64. http://dx.doi.org/10.11646/zootaxa.5118.1.1.

Abstract:
So far, the species of the genus Rhodostrophia Hübner, 1823 (Geometridae), their diagnostic characters and their distribution in Iran have not been investigated in detail. Moreover, some species were misunderstood by earlier authors. To solve these problems, a survey of the Iranian Rhodostrophia species based on over 1700 specimens has been executed. The type series of all species known from Iran were examined. Additionally extensive material from different museums and private collections was morphologically studied and compared with the type material. DNA-barcoding was used as an independent line of information and the results were compared with the morphological data. Examination of the type material revealed that R. cuprinaria (Christoph, 1876) was misinterpreted for a long time. The taxon R. nubifera Brandt, 1941 syn. nov. is a younger synonym of Hugo Christoph’s R. cuprinaria, which was misidentified by himself in his later publications. An available name for “R. cuprinaria” in the old, erroneous sense is R. phaenicearia (Hampson, 1907). Three subspecies were recognized for R. terrestraria, including R. terrestraria farsi ssp. nov. Additionally, R. terrestraria furialis Brandt, 1941 syn. nov. is here regarded as junior synonym of R. terrestraria (Lederer, 1869); Rhodostrophia nubifera nubifera Brandt, 1941 syn. nov. and R. nubifera klapperichi Wiltshire, 1966 syn. nov. are here regarded as junior synonyms of R. cuprinaria (Christoph, 1876). R. abscisaria chlorotica Wiltshire, 1967 syn. nov. is downgraded to synonymy of R. abscisaria Brandt, 1941 and R. peripheres debilis Wiltshire, 1949 syn. nov. to synonymy of R. peripheres Prout, 1938. Rhodostrophia vahabzadehi sp. nov. is described as a new species. In total, 15 species are regarded as valid for the fauna of Iran. External and internal morphological characters for all examined species are illustrated. Distribution data are shown on maps for of all species. An updated checklist is presented for the Iranian representatives of the genus Rhodostrophia.

Abstract:

Abstract:
On June 25, 1975, Prime Minister (PM) Indira Gandhi imposed a national emergency (the Emergency) in India, suspending civil and political rights. Lasting for 21 months, the Emergency was the only dictatorial turn in India's democratic history. The authoritarian rule was in response to an assertive citizens' protest against Prime Minister Gandhi, which demanded her resignation on the grounds of the centralization of power, corruption, rising prices, and in the name of fair wages for workers and unemployment. The higher courts had also debarred her from contesting elections. Since then, the dominant accounts of this period have tried to ascertain answers to three questions: Why was the Emergency imposed? What did the Emergency entail? And finally, why was it lifted? The books in this review essay together comprise a tour de force on these three aspects, while also seeking to go beyond these questions. Christophe Ja relot and Pratinav Anil's India's First Dictatorship: The Emergency, 1975–77 shows how the Emergency has cast a long shadow and is also a window into understanding some of the present trends in Indian politics. Gyan Prakash's Emergency Chronicles: Indira Gandhi and Democracy's Turning Point claims that the Emergency had both a "before" and "afterlife"; the origins of excessive state power are inherent in the Constitution. Parsa Venkateshwar Rao Jr.'s The Emergency: An Unpopular History provides a revisionist account of the Emergency through the lenses of parliamentary discussions. While engaging with these important books, this review essay suggests an alternate "afterlife" of the Emergency that is untreated in the works discussed here.

Abstract:

Abstract:
The outstanding scientific work of Christopher Kelk Ingold (1893–1970) was the focus of considerable discussion, celebration and evaluation during the year of the centenary of his birth. In addition to understanding his prolific and highly original scientific output as a pioneer in the application of physical methods to organic chemistry and, indeed, as a founder of physical organic chemistry, it is also important to examine other aspects of Ingold's career, in particular his role in shaping the institutional context in which he developed his work. From 1930 until his death, Ingold was attached to a major international centre, the Chemistry Department of University College London. From 1937 to 1961, as its Head and Director of Laboratories, continuing the policies of his predecessor on chemical education and the organization of research, he developed a very distinctive chemistry department.

Abstract:
An annotated taxonomic checklist of the 37 species of Iranian Lasiocampidae is presented and bionomic data are summarized for the country. Ten species are listed as new to Iran, and previous misidentifications in the Iranian lasiocampid fauna are corrected. Nomenclatural actions taken herein include: the description of Malacosoma parallela iranica Zolotuhin & Zahiri, ssp. nov.; elevation to species rank of Trichiura kopetdaghi Dubatolov & Zolotuhin, 1992, stat. nov., from a subspecies of T. mirzayani Ebert, 1971; and a new synonymy Bombyx Herzi Christoph, 1888, = Bombyx Concolor Christoph, 1893, syn. nov. In addition, Chilena sordida (Erschoff, 1874) is considered a superspecies complex, and females are described for the first time for Giselea pistaciae Wiltshire, 1952, Phyllodesma glasunowi (Grum-Grzhimailo, 1895), and Streblote solitaria Zolotuhin, 1991.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Born on 20 May 1931 in Marburg, Germany, Christoph Wagner grew up playing piano. In 1958, after finishing his studies in medicine and subsequent doctoral work, he followed his dream to study music. As he recognized the lack of objective knowledge in professional practicing and teaching, and as he noticed the spread of overuse syndromes, he decided to combine the two fields and to go new ways with scientific methods. His guiding principle was always science for musicians, not on musicians. Christoph Wagner died on 30 August 2013 at the age of 82 in Isernhagen, Germany.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT In this article, I intent to show how the concept of culture of narcisism, created by American anthropologist Christopher Lash in the 1970’s, can help us think about some patterns of consumption in contemporary world. I also work with ideas put forward by psychoanalyst Jurandir Freire-Costa, sociologist Zygmunt Bauman as well as some of my own ideas, in order to try to understand how the modes of consumption change throughout the crisis of Modernity. Keywords: Consumption; desire; narcisism; Modernity.

Abstract:
Nine species of Ancylosis are recorded from Ukraine. Ancylosis larissae sp. nov. related to A. hellenica (Staudinger, 1870) and A. rhodochrella (Herrich-Schäffer, 1852), is described from Crimea. Ancylosis albicosta (Staudinger, 1870) is reported from Ukraine for the first time. Ancylosis albidella Ragonot, 1888, A. syrtella (Ragonot, 1887), A. rhodochrella, A. harmoniella (Ragonot, 1887) and A. monella Roesler, 1973 are removed from the list of Pyralidae of Ukraine due to misidentifications. The host plants for A. sareptalla (Herrich-Schäffer, 1861) and A. substratellum (Christoph, 1877) comb. nov. are recorded for the first time. New host plant is recorded for A. roscidella (Eversmann, 1844). The diagnoses for all species known from Ukraine are provided. The adults and genitalia of both sexes are illustrated for all Ukrainian species and some closely related species from adjacent territories. A key to the species is given based on external characters and the genitalia of both sexes. The female genitalia of A. deserticola (Staudinger, 1870), A. hellenica (Staudinger, 1870), A. sabulosella (Staudinger, 1879) as well as the male genitalia of A. pallida (Staudinger, 1870) are described and illustrated as they have been dealt incorrectly in literature. The status of A. albidella and the records of this species from Europe are discussed. The new synonymy is proposed: Ancylosoma Roesler, 1973 syn. nov. of Ancylosis Zeller, 1839 and A. sareptalla gulbaharensis Roesler, 1973 syn. nov. of A. sareptalla (Herrich-Schäffer, 1861). Ancylosis decolorella (Ragonot & Hampson, 1901) spec. rev., stat. nov. is taken out from synonymy with A. sabulosella. The lectotype of Myelois deserticola Staudinger, 1870 is designated.
