Abstract:
The paper demonstrates the significance of commemorative and anniversary philosophical medals that are seen as a special visual aid for problematic issues in the history of philosophy specification. The author puts forward the thesis that such medals can clarify the perception of philosophical doctrine and the context of philosophical doctrine consideration at a particular time. So, they greatly assist as an additional historical and philosophical source, but they can hardly be helpful with the interpretation of either various aspects of a philosophical doctrine or a particular statement of a particular philosopher. The rationale for the thesis presents the analysis of four philosophical medals: the medal commemorating the foundation of the alethophile society (1740), A. Abramsonʼs medal in honor of I. Kantʼs sixtieth anniversary (1784), A. Abramsonʼs medal for the death of I. Kant (1804), A.L. Heldʼs medals in honor of the sixtieth anniversary of G.W.F. Hegel (1830). If the first three medals contribute to a better understanding of the philosophical traits of the German Enlightenment, the reasons for appealing to Horace's words “sapere aude”, Kant's peculiarity as an Enlightenmentist, philosophical meaning of the Kantian Copernican Revolution and the transformation of the perception of the “Critique of Pure Reason” in the late 18th century, expectations regarding the fourth medal has proved misplaced. It cannot clarify the Hegelian phrase about reason as a rose on the cross of modernity and reconciliation with reality. In addition, in the course of clarifying the meaning of the four aforementioned medals, the author also turns to the commemorative medal of Chr. Wolff by J. Dassier (c. 1733), the medal for the return of Chr. Wolff to Halle by J.Chr. Koch (1740) and the medal for Kantʼs death by F.W. Loos (1804).

Abstract:
Modifying additives impact – pro-oxidants – on low-density polyethylene oxidative degradation under short-term aging conditions in a thermostat with forced convection at 70 °C and ultraviolet irradiation with different exposures (48, 96, 144 h) was studied. It is concluded that for polyethylene films modified with stearates of metals of variable valence, under short-term aging conditions, the formation of aldehydes (1733–1740 cm-1) and carboxyl (1700 cm-1) was observed and accompanied by a sharp decrease in the intensity of absorption bands at 1465–1470 cm-1, which is specific to stretching and bending deformations of CH2 of the polyethylene polymer matrix and indicating the destruction of polymer chains. It is shown that the short-term aging of oxidatively biodegradable polyethylene affects environmental and technological problems associated with the pollutants release, including in particular, formaldehyde and other pollutants.

Abstract:
Abstract We report herein a density functional theory study on the C–H bond activation of CH4 over several rutile-type metal oxide catalysts, namely IrO2(110), TiO2(110), and β-MnO2(110) surfaces. We find that CH4 is strongly chemisorbed on the IrO2(110) surface, which distorts the CH4 geometry. Together with a strong thermodynamic driving force derived from the formation of Ir–CH3 bond, the H–CH3 bond activation proceeds with a negative barrier. In contrast, a weakly chemisorbed CH4 molecule on the TiO2(110) surface cannot proceed to the C–H bond cleavage due to a high activation barrier and a low thermodynamic driving force. The reaction on the β-MnO2(110) surface, on the other hand, is found to begin with a weak CH4 physisorption, followed by the C–H bond scission with a low activation barrier. However, here, the formation of •CH3 radical is more preferred than the Mn–CH3 bond formation, most possibly due to the electrophilic nature of MnO that suitably renders the catalyst as a perfect electron acceptor for the H-atom abstraction of CH4. With such low barrier and stability of the •CH3 formation, we suggest β-MnO2(110) as a potential catalyst that is good not only for the H–CH3 bond activation but also for the methanol formation.

Araştırmakta olduğumuz dönem Osmanlı Devleti’nin Kafkasya siyasetinde özel bir aşamayı oluşturmaktadır. Bu dönemde Osmanlı Devleti Kafkasya’da güçlenme konusunda Doğu’da geleneksel rakibi Safevi evleti dışında Rusya İmparatorluğu ile de mücadele etmek zorunda kaldı. Osmanlı Devleti, önceki dönemlerde olduğu gibi, 1720-1730’lu yıllarda da rakipleri ile mücadelede yerli Müslüman yönetimleri güçlendirerek onlara güvenme siyasetini sürdürdü. Söz konusu yerel yönetimler arasında Azerbaycan’ın kuzeybatısında bulunan Sahur (İlisu) Sultanlığı, Şeki Hâkimliği ve Car-Tala Cemaatlikleri bölgesel ağırlığa sahipti. Bu durumu dikkate alan Osmanlı Devleti, söz konusu bölgesel güçlerle ilişkilere özel önem vermişti. Mevcut durumda yerel yöneticiler daha çok kendi çıkarlarını koruma yönünde hareket etseler de, Osmanlı-Safevi-Rusya rekabetinde Osmanlı yönetimini kabul etmeyi tercih ediyorlardı. Bu seçimde dinî faktör önemli bir rol oynamıştır. Abstract:
Aim. Search of healthy and edible alternative oils from algae. Such oil provides many health benefits mainly because of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) form of omega-3 fattyacids and some other micro nutrients in smaller amounts. Methods. Soxhlet extraction method was used to extract the oil with n-hexane as the solvent. The proximate composition was determined by AOAC methods, while the mineral contents were determined by AAS. FTIR and UV-Visible spectra of the oil were run using Agilent- FTIR Spectrometer and UV-Visible Spectrophotometer respectively. Results. The oil yield was very low (1.05%). The proximate composition reveals carbohydrate as the major nutrient in the residue (79.18%), others include lipid (8.03%), crude protein (5.00%), moisture (2.78%), crude fibre (3.01%) and ash (2.00%). The mineral composition reveals high amount of potassium (1602.5 mg/100g) and calcium (632.5 mg/100g) with low levels of phosphorous (14.9 mg/100g) and sodium (12.8 mg/100g). The FTIR spectrum of algae oil is similar to the normal vegetable oil. Stretching vibrations at 2922.2 cm-1 and 2855 cm-1 are attributed to methylene (-CH2--) and methyl (-CH3) groups while absorption bands at 1710 cm-1 and 1744 cm-1 showed carboxylic groups for algae oil and vegetable oil (control) which was attributed to C=O stretching vibrations (esters). The UV-Visible spectrum of algae oil showed two peaks at 408 nm and 660 nm for carotenoids and chlorophyll A respectively, which corroborate with previous studies. Conclusions. We conclude that the oil and cake characterized from Spirogyra porticallis has great potential for medicinal and nutritional usage.

Catalytic tar removal is one of the main challenges restricting the successful commercialization of biomass gasification. Hot gas cleaning using a heterogeneous catalyst is one of the methods used to remove tar. In order to economically remove tar, an efficient low-cost catalyst should be applied. Biomass char has the potential to be such a catalyst. In this work, the reactor parameters that affect the conversion of a model tar component “naphthalene” were investigated employing an in situ thermogravimetric analysis of a fixed bed of biomass char. The following reactor and catalyst parameters were investigated: bed temperature (750 to 900 °C), gas residence time in the char bed (0.4 to 2.4 s), char particle size (500 to 1700 μm), feed naphthalene concentration, feed gas composition (CO, CO2, H2O, H2, CH4, naphthalene, and N2), char properties, and char precursor. It was found that the biomass char has a high activity for naphthalene conversion. However, the catalytic performance of the biomass char was affected by the gasification reactions that consumed its carbon, and the coke deposition that reduced its activity. Furthermore, high ash and iron contents enhanced char activity. The results of this work will be used in the design of a process that uses biomass char as an auto-generated catalyst in the gasification process.

In Griechenland haben die Zuwanderer die Suffixe -ss und -nth oder -nd nicht erst kennengelernt, sondern zumindest zum Teil schon mitgebracht und vermutlich im 3. Jahrtausend v. Chr. die allm?hliche Entwicklung des sp?teren Griechischen eingeleitet. Impulse f?r die Entwicklung der materiellen Kultur gingen um 1700 v. Chr. von Kreta aus und beeinflussten in starkem Ma?e die mykenische Zeit mit ihren Palastsystemen, deren Zusammenbruch um 1200 v. The objective of this study was to identify intake and digestion characteristic(s) responsible for variation in methane (CH4) emissions from non-lactating cows fed pasture forage. Nine Friesian × Jersey cows ranked low, medium or high CH4 emitters [group means 15.3, 19.2 and 24.8 g kg-1 dry matter intake (DMI), respectively; P = 0.015] were selected from a herd of 302 lactating cows. The selected cows were dried-off, rumen-fistulated, and fed indoors on fresh pasture forage at 0700 and 1700. Voluntary feed intake (VFI), feeding behaviour and intake rates (IR) were measured over 5 d. Feed allowance was reduced to 90% of VFI for measurement of CH4 emissions and rumen fermentation and digestion kinetics parameters. Although some variation in CH4 yield remained among the animals (26.4 ± 3.6 g kg-1 DMI), the previous ranking of cows during lactation was no longer evident during this study (P = 0.41). The change in CH4 yields may have resulted from lower feed intakes of lower quality pasture compared with grazing. Regression analysis showed that absolute CH4 emission (g d-1) was best described by DMI and rumen acetate concentration (ACE) before the PM feeding (ACE 1700) (R2 = 0.88), whereas CH4 yield (g kg-1DMI) was mainly a function of ACE 1700 h alone (R2 = 0.84). We suggest that large animal-to-animal variations in CH4 yield are most likely associated with high intakes and concomitant effects of salivation and rumen digestion and passage. Abstract Chemical looping combustion (CLC) plays a vital role in coal combustion which released pure CO2 in the exhaust gas with low energy consumption. Researchers have developed over 1000 oxygen carriers (OCs) to enhance the properties of OCs. This study focus on the microstructural changes of coal during CLC process which could provide the performance improvement direction for OCs. Results showed that the phenolic -OH group can easily be removed by CuO while the free -OH group and the self-associating -OH group are hard to be consumed by the lattice oxygen in CuO at 800 °C, showing good stability in CLC process. Aliphatic hydrocarbons could be consumed in the gas phase rapidly. The functional group of C=O maintains high reactivity with CuO which explains why the addition of CO2 promotes the reaction rate in coal CLC. But C=C group was nonpolar bond and hard to be consumed while the -CH2 and -CH3 group and C-O-C group showed good reactivity with CuO. Higher reaction temperature affords higher reactivity of coal CLC process. But the -OH group changed slowly at higher temperature which could because that higher temperature makes the organic big molecular of the coal char decomposed and produce more -OH group.

Abstract A technology is proposed to improve the efficiency of heat devices operating on gas fuel. The technology is based on the use of a method of burning depleted ionized gas fuel in an electric field. Application of the method allows to reduce the formation of soot deposits and provides a more complete combustion of the gas. Increasing the efficiency of heating devices is achieved due to the formation of an electric field by including an ionizing radiation device in the structure of the gas stove. The energy of the ionizing radiation of the gas fuel provides the formation of Coulomb forces. Combustion intensifies, and convective heat exchange increases due to electroconvection. The design of the ionizing radiation device includes electrodes located at a distance from each other. Power is supplied from a voltage source. The electrodes are fixed using porcelain ring insulators. The proposed design solutions provide not only a decrease in gas fuel consumption, but also an increase in the flame temperature and the power of thermal radiation not only in the visible, infrared and ultraviolet ranges. Additional electrolysis of the fuel mixture, and the acceleration of its combustion rate is achieved due to ionization. The results of experimental studies to determine the parameters of the combustion processes of gas fuel (isobutane (CH3-CH(CH3)-CH3) – 72 %, butane (CH3-CH2– CH2-CH3) – 22 %, propane (C3H8) – 6 %) are presented. It was found that with a variable electric field strength for gas ionization, an increase in the temperature of the frying bed by 39%, heat transfer by 2 times, a decrease in carbon oxides by 31–36%, and a decrease in gas fuel consumption by 26% are achieved.

Bio-based lubricant is crucial to be developed considering the toxicity risk, climate change, energy security, and green-environmental approach. Palm kernel fatty acids based biolubricants were synthesized by the homogeneous acid-catalyzed esterification reaction between palm kernel fatty acids with selected polyhydric alcohols; trimethylolpropane (TMP), di-trimethylolpropane (Di-TMP), and pentaerythritol (PE). The reaction optimization is done using a D-optimal design based on four parameters; the ratio of reactants, reaction time, reaction temperature, and catalyst loading. The optimum yield range between 80 and 87%, with more than 93% the selectivity of biolubricant products. The chemical structures of synthesized Palm kernel fatty acids-based biolubricants were characterized and confirmed using FTIR, NMR (1H and 13C) spectroscopies, and GC-FID chromatography. The FTIR spectra of palm kernel fatty acids-based biolubricants products clearly showed the peaks of C=O and C–O of the ester group at 1741-1740 cm-1 and 1234-1152 cm-1, respectively. Furthermore, 1H NMR spectra confirmed the ester group's proton chemical shift (-CH2-O-) at 3.96-4.11 ppm. The 13C NMR spectra confirmed the carbon chemical shifts of ester carbonyl (C=O) signals at 173.5-173.2 ppm. The results for lubrication properties have shown that the palm kernel fatty acids based biolubricants have low-temperature properties with pour points value in the range of -5 to -10 °C, a high flash point of 320-360 °C, a high viscosity index (VI) of 140.86-154.8, the kinematic viscosity of 41.76-87.06 cSt (40 °C), 8.73-14.77 cSt (100 °C), and thermal stability over 210 °C. All synthetic lubricants are categorized as ISO 46 (TMP triester) and ISO 68 (Di-TMP tetraester and PE tetraester).

Oleh sebab itu, pembangunan jalan baru atau perbaikan jalan yang lama harus segera terealisasikan oleh pemerintah. Dalam rangka membangun suatu konstruksi seperti salah satunya pembangunan jalan baru perlu perencanaan dan penelitian yang matang sebab pembangunan jalan sangat berkaitan dengan kondisi fisik dan mekanis lapis pondasi, dimana jalan mempunyai beberapa lapis pondasi ditinjau berdasarkan gradasi agregatnya. Dalam pelaksanaan pekerjaan lapis pondasi di lapangan diperlukan pemadatan yang maksimum agar mengantisipasi terjadinya penurunan akibat adanya pembebanan lalu lintas. Dalam praktek pemadatan di lapangan pada umumnya menggunakan mesin penggilas tanpa ada persyaratan material harus lolos saringan 19,00 mm (3/4″) sedangkan pada pekerjaan pemadatan Lapis Pondasi Agregat Kelas B di laboratorium menggunakan metode pemadatan berat dan untuk bahan campuran material harus yang lolos saringan 19,00 mm (3/4″). Dari hasil penelitian ini dapat diketahui nilai kepadatan maksimum dan kadar air optimum serta nilai CBR desain sesuai dengan SNI 1743:2008 yaitu Nilai Kepadatan Kering Maksimum (maks) 2,243 gr/cm3, Kadar Air Optimum 4,7%, dan Nilai CBR desain 78%. Nilai kepadatan maksimum dan kadar air optimum serta nilai CBR desain sesuai dengan permodelan alat pemadatan 2 lapisan dan 3 lapisan, hasil pengujian permodelan modifikasi alat pemadatan 2 lapisan didapatkan Nilai Kepadatan Kering Maksimum (maks) 2,183 gr/cm3, Kadar Air Optimum 4,9 %, dan Nilai CBR desain 16%, hasil pengujian permodelan modifikasi alat pemadatan 3 lapisan mendapatkan rata-rata Nilai Kepadatan Kering Maksimum (maks) 2,194 gr/cm3, Kadar Air Optimum 4,6 %, dan Nilai CBR desain 22%. Kesesuaian parameter hasil sifat mekanis antara standar SNI 1743:2008 dengan permodelan modifikasi alat pemadatan di laboratorium menunjukkan bahwa permodelan modifikasi alat pemadatan dan CBR Laboratorium tidak sesuai dengan SNI 1743:2008 karena tidak mencapai minimum desain CBR Laboratorium dalam Spesifikasi Umum 2010 Rev 3 Bina Marga Divisi 5 pada Lapis Pondasi Agregat Kelas B.

This study evaluated similarities/dissimilarities of raw and processed chicken breast and thigh lipids that were complexed by β-cyclodextrin, using a combined FTIR–PCA technique. Lipid fractions were analyzed as non-complexed and β-cyclodextrin-complexed samples via thermogravimetry, differential scanning calorimetry and ATR-FTIR. The lipid complexation reduced the water content to 7.67–8.33%, in comparison with the β-cyclodextrin hydrate (~14%). The stabilities of the complexes and β-cyclodextrin were almost the same. ATR-FTIR analysis revealed the presence of important bands that corresponded to the C=O groups (1743–1744 cm−1) in both the non-complexed and nano-encapsulated lipids. Furthermore, the bands that corresponded to the vibrations of double bonds corresponding to the natural/degraded (cis/trans) fatty acids in lipids appeared at 3008–3011 and 938–946 cm−1, respectively. The main FTIR bands that were involved in the discrimination of raw and processed chicken lipids, and of non-complexed and complexed lipids, were evaluated with PCA. The shifting of specific FTIR band wavenumbers had the highest influence, especially vibrations of the α(1→4) glucosidic bond in β-cyclodextrin for PC1, and CH2/3 groups from lipids for PC2. This first approach on β-cyclodextrin nano-encapsulation of chicken lipids revealed the possibility to stabilize poultry fatty components for further applications in various ingredients for the food industry.

Penelitian ini menggunakan serbuk cangkang kerang sebagai bahan stabilisasi tanah dengan persentase variasi campuran 0%, 25%, 30%, dan 35%. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini metode eksperimental yaitu menggunakan pengujian CBR laboratorium yang mengacu pada peraturan SNI-1744-2012. Dari hasil pengujian CBR laboratorium, variasi campuran serbuk cangkang kerang 0% diperoleh nilai CBR sebesar 1,40%, variasi serbuk cangkang kerang 25% diperoleh nilai CBR sebesar 4,20%, variasi serbuk cangkang kerang 30% diperoleh nilai CBR sebesar 7,10%, dan variasi serbuk cangkang kerang 35% diperoleh nilai CBR sebesar 6,80%. Nilai CBR maksimum terjadi pada variasi campuran serbuk cangkang kerang 30% sebesar 7,10%. Kesimpulan yang didapat adalah terjadinya peningkatan nilai CBR tanah yang distabilisasi dengan serbuk cangkang kerang sebesar 5,70% dengan nilai CBR 1,40% menjadi 7,10%.

Abstract In this work, a mass spectrometer residual gas analyzer (RGA) was used to determine the ionization thresholds (ionization energy and appearance energy) in trimethylamine (TMA, (CH3)3N), as well as the relative abundance of the ions produced by electron impact in the 7.5–70 eV electron energy range. The ten most intense peaks in the RGA mass spectra, corresponding to the most abundant ions formed by electron impact at 70 eV in TMA, were analyzed. The ionization energy for TMA, as assessed by this experiment, is 7.9 ± 0.2 eV and it is the threshold of formation of the C3H9N+ ion. This ion species is the most abundant one below 18 eV electron impact energy, being surpassed by the C3H8N+ ion above this energy. In order to assess the method used, methane (CH4), whose ionization properties are well established, was previously studied. The agreement between the results obtained for CH4 and those found in the literature provided the validation of the experimental method used in this work.

A microscope sampling accessory interfaced to a Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectrometer has been employed to characterize the remains of individual microscopic fossil algae and algal colonies contained in organic-rich shales. The microspectrometer is able to measure reflectance IR spectra of samples with cross-sectional areas as small as 20 × 20 microns. The fossil algae studied include the colonial green alga Botryococcus braunii, the unicellular green alga Tasmanites, and an unidentified filamentous alga. It was found that IR spectra of the fossil algae, in common, contain intense aliphatic C-H stretching bands in the 2900-cm−1 region relative to the C=C stretching band at 1600 cm−1. The carboxylic acid C=O stretching band at 1710 cm−1 is moderately intense. The relative intensities of these bands vary among the three different fossil algae. Maximum-likelihood spectral restoration and subsequent curve fitting of the stretching vibrations of the aliphatic C-H bands provide greater insight into the aliphatic structures of fossil algae. The CH2/CH3 intensity ratio can be calculated and used to assess the relative average aliphatic chain length and the degree of branching.

We analyzed the effect of total fertility rate (TFR) and crude birth rate (CBR) on the number of males per 100 females at birth, also called the secondary sex ratio (SR), and on the twinning rate (TWR). Earlier studies have noted regional variations in TWR and racial differences in the SR. Statistical analyses have shown that comparisons between SRs demand large data sets because random fluctuations in moderate data are marked. Consequently, reliable results presuppose national birth data. Here, we analyzed historical demographic data and their regional variations between counties in Sweden. We built spatial models for the TFR in 1860 and the CBR in 1751–1870, and as regressors we used geographical coordinates for the provincial capitals of the counties. For both variables, we obtained significant spatial variations, albeit of different patterns and power. The SR among the live-born in 1749–1869 and the TWR in 1751–1860 showed slight spatial variations. The influence of CBR and TFR on the SR and TWR was examined and statistical significant effects were found.

Kuat dukung tanah lempung dapat ditingkatkan agar dapat dipakai untuk subgrade jalan yaitu dengan melakukan stabilisasi tanah. Stabilisasi dengan penambahan pasir pada tanah lempung dapat menaikkan nilai California Bearing Ratio (CBR). Persentase penambahan pasir yaitu 0%, 5%, 10%, 15% dan 20%. Sampel tanah lempung diambil dari daerah Rumbai Pesisir Kota Pekanbaru. Pasir yang digunakan dari quarry kampar. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk melihat peningkatan nilai CBR tanah dengan penambahan pasir pada tanah lempung. Metode penelitian menggunakan standar SNI 03-1744-2008 untuk pengujian CBR laboratorium. Hasil penelitian nilai CBR tanah asli adalah 3,72%. Nilai ini tidak memenuhi syarat dari Spesifikasi Umum Bina Marga Tahun 2018 (Revisi 2) nilainya 6%. Nilai CBR meningkat menjadi 17,72% pada penambahan pasir sebesar 20%. Kesimpulannya penambahan pasir pada tanah lempung dapat meningkatkan nilai CBR tanah tersebut, yaitu menjadi 17,72% pada persentase 20% pasir. Semakin bertambah peresentase penambahan pasir nilai CBR tanah lempung semakin meningkat.

The present study was designed to identify and compare the infrared absorption spectra of two human breast cancer cell lines: MCF-7 (estrogen receptor expressed, ER+) and SKBr3 (estrogen receptor non-expressed, ER–). Comparison between SKBr3 and MCF-7 cells revealed differences in the following absorption band areas: 1087 cm–1(DNA), 1397 cm–1(CH3), 1543 cm–1(amide II), 1651 cm–1(amide I), 2924 cm–1(fatty acids). Additionally, peak shifts were observed at 1122 cm–1(RNA), 1397 cm–1(CH3), 1651 cm–1(amide I), 2851 cm–1(fatty acids) and 2962 cm–1(fatty acids). An analysis of the ratio between band areas was conducted, in order to obtain an index that could effectively distinguish between these two cell lines. This work demonstrates that it is possible to distinguish between MCF-7 and SKBr3 cells through differences in their FTIR spectra. This work enables distinction between two cell lines from the same breast cancer.
