Full textFor the formulation of public policies and strategic investment plans, it is necessary to know the level of social progress achieved within a given community, which is why, in order to obtain an efficient tool, which allows the diagnosis of the level of social progress of In the province of Chincha, the model of the Social Progress Index (IPS), developed by the Social Progess Imperative, has been adapted, the same that has been thought for application in countries; however, in the present investigation, the model was adapted to a more local context, with a provincial scope; as well as the restrictions of a province and its districts were taken into consideration. Finally, the modulation of a model made up of three pillar dimensions for the IPS was achieved: the dimension of Basic Human Needs, the dimension of Foundations of Well-being and finally the dimension of Opportunities; these dimensions are in turn subdivided into four components each, making a total of twelve components, which in turn are supported by specially statistically validated indicators. A survey of primary and secondary information was necessary. Thus, to collect primary information, a questionnaire specially created by CENTRUM Católica for this purpose has been used; In addition to this, secondary information has been collected from specialized government agencies in each of the areas required by the IPS. In order to internalize the internal and external context of the province of Chincha and to have a 360- degree vision, it has been necessary to carry out an analysis of external and internal factors; in this way, the results obtained have been recorded in the External Factors Evaluation Matrix (MEFE) and the Internal Factors Evaluation Matrix (MEFI), which has allowed the identification of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. Using data from the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) The eleven districts have been divided into four zones, for practical purposes of the present investigation, under criteria of socio-economic similarity and geographic limit. Subsequently, after statistical verification of the data entered in the IPS model, a result of 57.26 was obtained as the Social Progress Index, reaching a low average level of social progress. The level of social progress achieved by the Province of Chincha is a product of the average of its zones, observing that the zone that most positively affects is zone three with a score of 58.60, reaching a low average level of social progress; however, the zone with the highest negative incidence is zone four with a score of 55.23 and a medium-low level of social progress. In relation to the results obtained in each of the dimensions, we can see that, in the dimension of Basic Human Needs, the province of Chincha has managed to achieve a level of social progress classified as medium high, with a score of 68.32; being able to conclude that the fundamental needs of the population of the province of Chincha have been met to a greater extent. In relation to the dimension of Foundations of Well-being, a score of 51.11 has been reached, achieving a level of social progress categorized as low. In relation to the Opportunities dimension, a performance of 52.34 points has been achieved, with a level of social progress categorized as low. In the present investigation we will find data and recommendations derived from the analysis of the result of each of the indicators that support the twelve components of the IPS model applied to the province of Chincha, the results are expected to meet the relevant quality standards and serve for the formulation of measures that lead to increased social progress in the province of Chincha.

The document presents the strategic planning for the province of Ica, developed for the period 2016-2026, based on the Sequential Model of Strategic Process (D'Alessio, 2015). The objective is to work out the competitive advantages of this province, based on the correct identification of its strengths and the potential of the organization, for which the vision was defined, based on the improvements in the Human Development Index, as well as in the Social Progress Index. To this end, the production in different economic sectors should increase, but mainly in agribusiness, fisheries and tourism. Internally, the province of Ica has several strengths, among which the potential for commercial development and the presence of tourist and cultural centers stand out. On the other hand, among the weaknesses are the low degree of investment for commercial and business activity; and the disorganized growth. Based on the current strengths, the organization’s potential and its ability to generate competitive advantages are identified, which are complemented by the formation of an agribusiness cluster and a tourist cluster. Private consumption is encouraged due to the opportunities for economic growth, along with the increase in investment and the international promotion of cultural and gastronomic tourism. But there are also threats, such as the economic slowdown and the low level of research and development, among others

Full textThe aim of this research is to calculate the Social Progress Index of the province of Ica-Lima region during 2019. The study focused on four areas defined by their location and geographical area. A total of 384 surveys conducted on each Head of household and secondary source information were used to prepare 53 indicators that display social and environmental information. According to the Social Progress Imperative methodology, the score of the zones and province of Ica were calculated in the twelve components and three dimensions that make up the SPI. The province of Ica obtained 61.99 points so it is located in the medium low level. Zone I of the district of Ica registered the highest score 65.10 at the medium high level, followed by Zone III with 62.62 points, Zone II with 60.88 points and Zone IV with 59.35 points, all of them located at the medium low level. The Basic Human Needs dimension registered the highest score despite the dispersion of water, and basic sanitation and the low level of personal safety. The Foundations of well-being dimension shows poor performance in access to information and telecommunications, and environmental sustainability. The Opportunities dimension shows dispersion between areas in access to higher education, and there are weaknesses in personal rights and freedoms. The results reflect that the province of Ica is above the regional average of Ica. However, weaknesses and disadvantages are found in areas that require attention. The research serves as a tool to redouble effort to make determined and equitable public policies, redirect investment and close existing gaps in the province of Ica.

The creation of wealth through the establishment of new businesses, which give rise to new jobs for citizens, has always shown that it balances and harmonizes the economic activities of a country, it being evident that small and medium-sized enterprises companies are the most burgeoning and flourishing year by year in all regions of the planet, but its novel breakdown and high mortality rate does not allow its legal conformation, its establishment and tax consolidation and above all its permanence and sustainability over time, there being a climate of informality and evasion that ends up hurting everyone. The present work of thesis, states that the best way to know where you are, is to operate with a measurement and to know if the measurement is adequate, you must use a globally accepted methodology like the Doing Business ® developed by the World Bank Group ensure a systematic verification and repeatability process. The research focuses on the application of in-depth interviews in the city of Chincha, Department and Region of Ica, analyzing the facilities to do business with the city of Lima and the Distance to the Frontier ® with cities of Spain and Colombia, in with regard to the quantity and time of the procedures and the cost associated with carrying them out. The detail has been applied to five of the 10 pillars of analysis of the methodology (Starting a Business, Dealing with Construction Permits, Getting Electricity, Registering Property and Enforcing Contracts). The identified advantages must be complemented with the socio-economic conditions and the potential of items to grow a productive enterprise (of goods or services) in Chincha, constituting a real opportunity for continuous improvement

Full textHaving a measurement system that permits us to know if public policies are efficient based on the impact of people transcends economic results. The importance of measuring concrete results in the population allows us to identify the capacity to satisfy basic human needs, the fundamental elements that they have to maintain and improve the quality of life, and if they have the conditions to reach their full potential. The Social Progress Imperative (SPI) presented the Social Progress Index as a tool that allows us to measure the level of quality of life with information on new needs, demands and problems. The SPI Ranking 2019 publication places Peru in the 57th position of 149 countries with 73.31 points. This research aims to recognize the level of social progress at the district level based on well-being, so the objective is to calculate the Social Progress Index of the Palpa province of the Ica region. Therefore, the five districts were considered: Santa Cruz, Llipata, Río Grande, Palpa, and Tibillo; in a total sample of 352 households, grouped into two zones. The applied methodology allowed to determine 44 final indicators that make up the 12 components in the three dimensions. The results place the province of Palpa with 57.22 at the Medium low level; the Basic Human Needs dimension with 66.69 points, Foundations of well-being with 59.07 points and Opportunity with 45.89 points. The zone II reached the highest position with 56.48 points being the city and the urban area of the province, while the zone I registered the lowest score 55.15 points, which highlight the disadvantages in access to information and telecommunications, access to higher education, and personal rights. This first measurement in the province of Palpa allows to be a tool to guide social investment and identify the needs that must be met.

Master's thesis, Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, 2019. http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12404/15086.
Full textThe district of Paracas, province of Pisco and Ica region is located on the west coast, south of the capital of Peru and is known for its warm climate and beautiful beaches, but especially for having in its territory the National Reserve of Paracas, one of the most important in the country. Currently, it has developed an important hotel activity thanks to tourism in the region, which will be boosted with the construction of the new port and airport in the city of Pisco. The objective of this thesis is to measure and analyze the index of social progress in the district of Paracas; for this purpose, the Social Progress Imperative - SPI model was used, by which the population situation was evaluated from the perspective of three dimensions: a) Basic human needs, b) Fundamentals of Welfare, and c) Opportunities; each of these dimensions divided into four components that in turn evaluate a total of 53 variables. To obtain the IPS of the district of Paracas, a representative sample of the population of 339 heads of family was determined and this sample was divided into three zones in which a survey was conducted. Within the methodological framework of this study it was determined that it would be non-experimental because it only seeks to generate an analysis of the current reality of the district of Paracas; In addition, it will have a descriptive scope, with a quantitative approach and a transversal analysis. The result obtained for the IPS of Paracas 2018 was 48.92, classifying it with a low level of progress, for which it is necessary to urgently implement district government policies that encourage the development and well-being of its inhabitants; This is why, at the end of this study, recommendations are provided that allow involving the authorities of the district, the private company and the population in a joint effort to change the current situation.

This investigation aims to explore strategies for self-care of a group of people engaged in this work taking into account the holistic concept of health. The methodological design of this study was carried out according to the qualitative perspective, for this reason was necessary to do interviews, these were conducted based on a semi-structured interview guide with each of the participants. The research results show that the strategies of these health collaborators are based in resorting to the social support, which extend to the support provided by public and private institutions in order to improve the quality of life of the community, for that reason they use their abilities, virtues and strengths developed during their life. Also they resort to strategies based on religious beliefs and cultural traditions, mainly their belief in the Catholic faith and rituals related. Also, their behaviors are aimed at preventing risks primarily as recommended by the Ministry of Health. However, it’s evident that participants perform behaviors that affect their health which after result in the acquisition of a chronic disease. Finally participants prioritize work and daily chores; they sometimes postpone curing existing ailments, which they’ll cure when their life is at risk.

Full textCurrently, the gastronomy and most restaurants are concentrated in the city of Lima. Under the new concept of fusion and gastronomic boom, many regional cuisines have lost value and recognition from the public and private sector. In this regard, this study seeks to identify potential barriers to growth for restaurants from the sector of typical regional food in the province of Ica. It is also important for economic growth in the Ica region to know the limitations and contributions that each restaurant with typical regional food generated. That way you could propose the implementation of a strategic planning and the development and implementation of a continuous improvement program to help: (a) the growth of restaurant sector or other members of the food chain, (b) generating new jobs, and (c) better management of Ica entrepreneurship. To that end, this qualitative research involved the participation of 14 restaurants of typical food from Ica. In-depth interviews were used, allowing interviewees elaborate on their responses. These interviews were conducted with the same owners of the restaurants and their responses were recorded, transcribed and digitally encoded using the Atlas.ti software. As a result of data analysis, it was found that the factors that plague investors and restaurant owners to continue to invest and grow are: human capital, barriers related to the government, demand, financing, availability of areas and coordination failures. Finally, it is hoped that this research will serve as reference for other studies about the restaurant sector from the Ica region. And to implement appropriate business strategies and make the local government realize that their participation is essential for the promotion of regional cuisine from Ica and other economic sectors involved in the food chain.

Full textThe present work seeks to analyze the qualitative and quantitative determinants of home access to the natural gas service for families in the regions of Lima, Callao and Ica, and once the choice has been made, identify the factors that affect the demand for this service. This work is relevant to the peruvian context in which the little use of cheaper and less polluting energy is evident, despite having programs that promote its use, such as Bono Gas. This fact, however, is not seen in other Latin American countries such as the case of Colombia. The method to use to verify the analysis is the Heckman continuous discrete model consisting of two stages: a logit model and an OLS regression. It is expected that some of the qualitative variables are related to the characteristics of the home that are justified by the literature on access to energy services in families; and, on the other hand, the quantitative variables will be related to the household income and the price of natural gas. Based on the results of the research, we will provide some policy recommendations with the aim of promoting access to household natural gas.

Full textIn recent years, Peru has been experiencing significant growth and dynamism, supported by demand and attractive prices in international markets, among the most important productive sector are agriculture, specifically the grape as one of its flagship products, fresh grapes lead the agricultural export ranking with US $ 651 million exported during 2017. However, for all this development and growth to be sustainable over time, it must be accompanied by significant public and private investment, as well as improving infrastructure, technology and other factors related to development and competitiveness. In this sense, the General San Martin port, located in the department of Ica, is born as one of the ports with the greatest potential and expectations to decongest the increasingly saturated port of Callao. Ica is the main exporter of grapes there 53% of exports were registered nationwide in 2017. What we want to demonstrate in this research is the impact of grape exports in the Ica region as a result of the port development of the General San Martin port.

Full textThis paper shows that the reduction of housing shortage in C and D socio-economic sectors is possible, through the implementation of attractive projects for demand and that are economically profitable for a developer. The study case is “Residencial Terra Blanca” project, from Inmobiliaria Yaku S.A.C, which is developed in the city of Pisco and it is intended for socio-economic levels C and D. The thesis has two parts, the first one is related to real state development and project economic analysis, which according to market research and comparing to similar projects in the area, the developer proposes an appealing and affordable product for the city’s demand. An economic analysis is also carried out resulting in acceptable profitability indicators, concluding that the project is viable. In addition to this first part, a sensitivity analysis is made with the three most important variables: sales velocity, average housing price and construction cost of the building, to determine the ranges in which these variables keep the project feasibility. The second part, and as value proposal, it is suggested a construction budget optimization of the building, using an industrialized building model for the preparation, transportation and placement of concrete mixed on site; additionally, it is introduced a collaborative proposal that reduces tax burden of the project. After applying both proposals, it has been determined an impact on increase of project profitability, as a consequence of savings in the construction budget.
