Abstract:
This paper presents a novel approach for the reduced-complexity Min-Sum (MS) decoding of low density parity check (LDPC) codes in the partially parallel layered decoder architecture, which contains a large number of serial check node processors. Reduced complexity is obtained by using the variant of the single-minimum Offset Min-Sum (smOMS) algorithm that approximates a second minimum with the addition of the variable weight parameter to the minimum value. Although the reduced-complexity MS algorithms primarily reduce hardware resources in fully parallel implementations, the results showed that a considerable reduction can be obtained if serial check node processors are used. The paper also proposes a better subminimum estimation for irregular codes from 5G new radio (5G NR). The method uses smaller subminimum estimation weights in check nodes with a higher degree and higher weights in check nodes with a smaller degree, which leads to the significant improvement in the SNR performance. Additionally, it is shown that SNR performance can be further improved by applying offset before minimum calculation, which differs from conventional Min-Sum approaches.

Abstract:
In this paper, we have established a composite queuing network model on the basis of the queuing theory and combining with the current security system of the airport. We have made division of the whole security system into different processes which include ID check process, x-ray scanning process, and millimeter scanning process, and find out the unit of security system according to the proportion of different security lanes, what’s more, these processes were distinguished into different kinds of queuing system, and then, we established the queuing network using these different queuing model into the unit. We applied the method of computer simulation to analyze the bottleneck, and we find that ID check process in pre-check system is unstable based on the current proportion of pre-check lane. Meanwhile, we optimized the number of each unit using the system design model and prove the effectiveness by computer simulation, then, we optimized the service rate of the baggage and body screening in pre-check lane follow the above process. Finally, we further discussed development direction of this model.

Abstract:
In this paper, an electronically reconfigurable polarization converter unit cell operating at X-band is proposed. The polarization converter unit cell consists of a passive patch, a phase shifter, and an active patch. There are two PIN diodes on the active patch. By switching the bias conditions of those PIN diodes, an electronically reconfigurable polarization converter is conceived. Both the passive and active patches are circular, and there are circular types of slots on both patches to enhance the operating bandwidth. To compensate for the capacitance introduced by PIN diodes, an equivalent capacitance structure is introduced on the active patch. 2 × 2 unit cells are designed to check the performance of the unit cell for polarization conversion applications. In addition, a novel type of experimental characterization technique is proposed to check the performance of polarization conversion using 2 × 2 unit cells. Two WR-90 waveguide sections, two rectangular to square sections, and a power supply are taken for the measurements. The rectangular to square waveguide transition section is designed in such a way so that 2 × 2 unit cells can be perfectly adjusted on the transition section and the performance of the 2 × 2 unit cells can be measured. The simulation results of the 8 × 8 array are also added to a miniaturized X-band horn antenna to check the performance of the overall array.

Abstract:
In this paper we study quasi quantum quadratic operators (QQO) acting on the algebra of [Formula: see text] matrices [Formula: see text]. We consider two kinds of quasi QQO the corresponding quadratic operator maps from the unit circle into the sphere and from the sphere into the unit circle, respectively. In our early paper we have defined a q-purity of quasi QQO. This notion is equivalent to the invariance of the unit sphere in [Formula: see text]. But to check this condition, in general, is tricky. Therefore, it would be better to find weaker conditions to check the q-purity. One of the main results of this paper is to provide a criterion of q-purity of quasi QQO in terms of the unit circles. Moreover, we are able to classify all possible kinds of quadratic operators which can produce q-pure quasi QQO. We think that such result will allow one to check whether a given mapping is a pure channel or not. This finding suggests us to study such a class of nonpositive mappings. Correspondingly, the complement of this class will be of potential interest for physicist since this set contains all completely positive mappings.

Abstract:
It is provided results of works on creation and operational development (improvement) of the unit on the incision, for check of various systems of coverings (wearproof, abradable, etc.), compressor or turbine. It is stated the problems concerning the creation of unit and criteria which must be considered in improvement and unit modernization. Some calculations were made for definition the unit’s operating modes, which should provide the possibility to model to (simulate) the operation of turbine and compressor covering, on various types of engines both modern and future. The unit should provide a wide temperature span and speeds of incision etc., the design of unit details should be technological and provide the possibility to put on the shovel and prorate simulator various systems of coverings. The offered coverings test method will allow to reduce expenses on the check of again developed coverings, and also to reduce terms on the check of again developed coverings. The technical project demands have not been provided during the initial tests of the unit (after designing and manufacturing). For the purpose of maintenance of the technical project, demands took on the tasks of the unit’s modernization. In our opinion, it was necessary to reduce weight and resistance to air medium of the blade to satisfy the requirements. It was able to reduce weight by means of «dovetail», instead of a bolt joint, and also application of turbine airfoil similar in shape to a real blade. According to the results of the spent analysis was accepted the solution to apply the blades of the compressor of real engines, made of various materials EP 718 ID and VT 8 as simulators of blades, for check of turbine coverings, the simulator heat sink nickel alloys will be designed. The improvement works of the available disk simulator were carried out for applying the new simulators of blades. For this purpose, the technology for producing dovetail-type locks was completed by milling. It was completed the improvement of the disk simulator by milling of dovetail-type grooves.

Abstract:
Abstract An optical method based on digital image correlation was used to investigate the impact of four decorative plywood manufacturing factors (core type, veneer type, adhesive type and lathe check orientation) on face veneer checking. The four core types were: combination core, medium density fibreboard, particleboard, and veneer core. The four veneer types were: peeled 0.604 mm, peeled 0.706 mm, sliced 0.508 mm, and sliced 0.564 mm. Both loose-side out and tight-side out lathe check orientations were used. The adhesive systems were urea–formaldehyde, polyvinyl acetate, and soy-protein based. 96 treatment combinations with 8 replicates were tested. All specimens were exposed to harsh but realistic drying conditions (approximately 30°C and 26% relative humidity) for 4 h during inspection. Checks were detected on 428 out of a total of 765 specimens (56%). The estimated mean check densities (area of checking per unit area) indicated some unfavourable factor combinations. All factors had some degree of interaction with one another and check development could not be attributed to a single factor examined in this study. The data were fit to a generalized linear mixed model based on Tweedie’s compound Poisson distribution. Confidence intervals were calculated via bootstrapping. The check density estimates produced by this model can be used to cautiously guide manufacturers as they decide on panel components. The broader use of the model is to highlight the complexity of the problem and guide future research in this area.

Abstract:
This study focuses on the importance of a safety checklist for gynecological laparoscopic surgeries. There is no dedicated safety check list for gynecological laparoscopy although several general safety checklists are used in practice. (e.g. WHO safety check list). The aim was to introduce a safety check list dedicated to gynecological laparoscopy. This check list is based on our experience in performing gynecological laparoscopy in a tertiary care centre with a high workload. This check list is introduced after studying the complications occurring in areas covered by the check list. Present data from 776 cases performed over 4 years at professorial unit in obstetrics and gynecology, university of Sri Jayewardenepura, Colombo South teaching hospital, Kalubowila, Sri Lanka. Mean surgical time and complications associated with patient positioning were assessed. Complications associated with the areas assessed were found to be low. However, it is belief that these can be further reduced by the introduction of a check list specifically designed for gynecological laparoscopy.

Abstract:
Through analysing the assembly relation between the product parts, this paper divided the product parts into function parts and the connectors. Then the simplified assembly semantic relation graph model was established in this paper. The concept of assembly connection strength was introduced to express the complexity of assembly between the parts. Using the least assembly time as the goal to determine the optimal unit division number, the assembly unit division was accomplished based on the connection strength. Finally using the spindle box of HTC2500hs as an example to check this division method, the results show that this method has applicability and effectiveness.

Abstract:
Objective: To explore the legal implications of the empiric literature and relevant legal literature on tech-check-tech. Methods: Two reviews were made: one of the states' and US holdings' laws regarding technician credentialing and tech-check-tech, and another of the empiric literature on tech-check-tech. Data Sources/Selection: The International Pharmacy Abstracts database and PubMed were searched for articles using the following key words: Tech* & accuracy, Tech* & check, Tech* & error, and tech-check-tech. When searching PubMed, the term “pharmacy” was added in each search. This search was verified July 2, 2002, to ensure that no articles were missed. Full articles and meeting abstracts were included if they contained data that allowed for comparisons between pharmacists' and technicians' accuracy or error rates in checking. Primary, secondary, and tertiary sources were used. All articles included were searched on the Web of Science to find other relevant articles. The bibliographies of the included articles were also checked. Data Synthesis: Thirty-five of the 53 US states and holdings (66%) either license, register, certify, require Pharmacy Technician Certification Board certification, and/or have technician training or educational requirements. Four states (7.5%) allow tech-check-tech in some form. Ten empiric studies were found that investigated tech-check-tech. The error detection rate was available in only 2 of the studies and showed nearly the same rates (technicians 97%, pharmacists 94%). Conclusions: This work found no evidence suggesting that tech-check-tech should not be adopted for unit-dose cart fill in every state. The credentialing of technicians varies greatly from state to state. Tech-check-tech procedures are sparsely used in the US. Training may improve accuracy, and the average error detection rate was higher for technicians than for pharmacists.

Abstract:
An area-efficient high-throughput shift-based LDPC decoder architecture is proposed. The specially designed (512, 1,024) parity-check matrix is effective for partial parallel decoding by the min-sum algorithm (MSA). To increase throughput during decoding, two data frames are fed into the decoder to minimize idle time of the check node unit (CNU) and the variable node unit (VNU). Thus, the throughput is increased to almost two-fold. Unlike the conventional architecture, the message storage unit contains shift registers instead of de-multiplexers and registers. Therefore, hardware costs are reduced. Routing congestion and critical path delay are also reduced, which increases energy efficiency. An implementation of the proposed decoder using TSMC 0.18 μm CMOS process achieves a decoding throughput of 1.725 Gbps, at a clock frequency of 56 MHz, a supply voltage of 1.8 V, and a core area of 5.18 mm2. The normalized area is smaller and the throughput per normalized power consumption is higher than those reported using the conventional architectures.

Abstract:
This paper introduces an outline of digital manufacturing in shipbuilding and results of its application, with the aim of modernizing ship manufacturing, following the introduction of a shipbuilding computer-integrated manufacturing (CIM) system. The pipe unit assembly in a shipyard was taken up as an example, because the assembly work has depended on personal experience of skilled workers and has not been generalized and digitized. As a result of the work analysis in the job site, it was found that even veteran assembly workers often use the drawing to image the final assembly unit. Hence, the assembly simulation program was developed and a PC was introduced in the job site in order to assemble the pipe unit in accordance with the computer simulation on the display. The method was effectively tested and verified in the job site. In addition, a wearable computer system was applied in a pipe shop to check the purchased parts and to allot them to the pallets. These applications were confirmed as an effective digital manufacturing system.

Abstract:
This paper presents a pipelined layered quasi-cyclic low-density parity-check (QC-LDPC) decoder architecture targeting low-complexity, high-throughput, and efficient use of hardware resources compliant with the specifications of 5G new radio (NR) wireless communication standard. First, a combined min-sum (CMS) decoding algorithm, which is a combination of the offset min-sum and the original min-sum algorithm, is proposed. Then, a low-complexity and high-throughput pipelined layered QC-LDPC decoder architecture for enhanced mobile broadband specifications in 5G NR wireless standards based on CMS algorithm with pipeline layered scheduling is presented. Enhanced versions of check node-based processor architectures are proposed to improve the complexity of the LDPC decoders. An efficient minimum-finder for the check node unit architecture that reduces the hardware required for the computation of the first two minima is introduced. Moreover, a low complexity a posteriori information update unit architecture, which only requires one adder array for their operations, is presented. The proposed architecture shows significant improvements in terms of area and throughput compared to other QC-LDPC decoder architectures available in the literature.

Abstract:
Previous research has shown differential counts by race and ethnicity across several recent United States decennial censuses. This article presents findings from a 2010 Census ethnographic evaluation with a record check, conducted to identify factors affecting enumeration among racial/ethnic groups. In eight sites targeted to major racial/ethnic groups, ethnographers observed live census interviews and assessed where persons should have been counted. In the record check, housing unit rosters were matched with four data sources to identify inconsistencies in where to count persons. Ethnographic themes that contributed to record check inconsistencies include respondent access difficulty, language issues, and cultural issues. Ways to improve enumeration include improving access to hard-to-reach respondents and increasing the cultural awareness of enumerators.

Given a set [Formula: see text] of n points and a set [Formula: see text] of m unit disks on a 2-dimensional plane, the discrete unit disk cover (DUDC) problem is (i) to check whether each point in [Formula: see text] is covered by at least one disk in [Formula: see text] or not and (ii) if so, then find a minimum cardinality subset [Formula: see text] such that the unit disks in [Formula: see text] cover all the points in [Formula: see text]. The discrete unit disk cover problem is a geometric version of the general set cover problem which is NP-hard. The general set cover problem is not approximable within [Formula: see text], for some constant c, but the DUDC problem was shown to admit a constant factor approximation. In this paper, we provide an algorithm with constant approximation factor 18. The running time of the proposed algorithm is [Formula: see text]. The previous best known tractable solution for the same problem was a 22-factor approximation algorithm with running time [Formula: see text].

Abstract:
Microfluidics is facing critical challenges in the quest of miniaturizing, integrating, and automating in vitro diagnostics, including the increasing complexity of assays, the gap between the macroscale world and the microscale devices, and the diverse throughput demands in various clinical settings. Here, a “3D extensible” microfluidic design paradigm that consists of a set of basic structures and unit operations was developed for constructing any application-specific assay. Four basic structures—check valve (in), check valve (out), double-check valve (in and out), and on–off valve—were designed to mimic basic acts in biochemical assays. By combining these structures linearly, a series of unit operations can be readily formed. We then proposed a “3D extensible” architecture to fulfill the needs of the function integration, the adaptive “world-to-chip” interface, and the adjustable throughput in the X, Y, and Z directions, respectively. To verify this design paradigm, we developed a fully integrated loop-mediated isothermal amplification microsystem that can directly accept swab samples and detect Chlamydia trachomatis automatically with a sensitivity one order higher than that of the conventional kit. This demonstration validated the feasibility of using this paradigm to develop integrated and automated microsystems in a less risky and more consistent manner.

The purpose of this paper is to propose an approach for testing multivariate uniformity. The proposed test procedure works for both complete sample case and incomplete sample case. What multivariate uniformity test does is to check whether the population distribution, from which a random sample is drawn is a multivariate uniform distribution. Particularly, it is desired to check whether the population distribution is a uniform distribution on a [Formula: see text]-dimensional unit cube. There are some existing research papers in the literature. The proposed method works when only some arbitrarily selected order statistics are available for the test.

Abstract:
This study has examined the impact of sectoral growth on CO2 emissions in the case of Pakistan from 1970 to 2019. ADF and PP unit root tests have been applied to check the stationarity of the data series, whereas the Zivot-Andrew structural break unit root test has been applied to check the existence of structural break. The results of the unit root test show there is mixed order of integration among the selected variables, Zivot-Andrew unit root test also highlights the point of a structural break in the data series. The autoregressive distributed lag model has been applied for checking the cointegration among the variables of the model. The results show that industrial growth, population density, and time trend are positively and significantly contributing to CO2 emissions in Pakistan. Whereas services sector growth is responsible for reducing CO2 emissions in Pakistan. The results show that agricultural growth and globalization are reducing CO2 emissions but this relationship is insignificant over the selected time. In the short-run industrial growth, agricultural growth, and service sector growth are reducing the level of CO2 emissions in Pakistan. Likewise long run, trend time is promoting CO2 emissions in the short run in Pakistan. The government of Pakistan can control CO2 emissions by improvement in industrial production methods, reducing population density, and promoting services sector growth. There must be some dynamic policies are required to control the time trend impact on CO2 emission in Pakistan.

Abstract:
In this paper, we consider the discrete unit square cover (DUSC) problem as follows: given a set [Formula: see text] of [Formula: see text] points and a set [Formula: see text] of [Formula: see text] axis-aligned unit squares in [Formula: see text], the objective is (i) to check whether the union of the squares in [Formula: see text] covers all the points in [Formula: see text], and (ii) if the answer is yes, then select a minimum cardinality subset [Formula: see text] such that each point in [Formula: see text] is covered by at least one square in [Formula: see text]. For the DUSC problem:(i)we propose a [Formula: see text]-approximation algorithm, where [Formula: see text] is an integer parameter that defines a trade-off between the running time and the approximation factor of the algorithm. The running time of our proposed algorithm is [Formula: see text]. Our solution of the DUSC problem is based on a simple [Formula: see text]-approximation algorithm for the subproblem strip square cover (SSC) problem, where all the points in [Formula: see text] are lying within a horizontal strip of unit height.(ii)we also propose a 2-approximation algorithm, which runs in [Formula: see text] time. The 2-approximation algorithm is based on an algorithm for the subproblem SSC problem. The algorithm for the subproblem is developed using plane sweep and graph search traversal techniques. We also extend this algorithm to get 2-approximation result for the weighted DUSC problem where the squares are assigned weights, and the aim is to choose a subset [Formula: see text] such that each point in [Formula: see text] is covered by at least one square in [Formula: see text] and the sum of the weights of squares in [Formula: see text] is minimized.

Abstract:
Predicting user activity intensity is crucial for various applications. However, existing studies have two main problems. First, as user activity intensity is nonstationary and nonlinear, traditional methods can hardly fit the nonlinear spatio-temporal relationships that characterize user mobility. Second, user movements between different areas are valuable, but have not been utilized for the construction of spatial relationships. Therefore, we propose a deep learning model, the geographical interactions-weighted graph convolutional network-gated recurrent unit (GGCN-GRU), which is good at fitting nonlinear spatio-temporal relationships and incorporates users’ geographic interactions to construct spatial relationships in the form of graphs as the input. The model consists of a graph convolutional network (GCN) and a gated recurrent unit (GRU). The GCN, which is efficient at processing graphs, extracts spatial features. These features are then input into the GRU, which extracts their temporal features. Finally, the GRU output is passed through a fully connected layer to obtain the predictions. We validated this model using a social media check-in dataset and found that the geographical interactions graph construction method performs better than the baselines. This indicates that our model is appropriate for fitting the complex nonlinear spatio-temporal relationships that characterize user mobility and helps improve prediction accuracy when considering geographic flows.

Abstract:
With increasing demands for cleaning and purification of water, wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) require their most efficient operation. The operators are thus obliged to constantly review the efficiency of the processing units and technological equipment of WWTPs and seek opportunities for improvements. To increase the efficiency of particular equipment, the important parameters to be used for the intensification must be correctly selected. A common WWTP consists of different types of processing units, where the basic parameters can be changed to achieve the highest efficiency (i.e., maximum output with minimum energy consumption) in the WWTP. However, due to many possible technologies in the wastewater treatment process, the combinations of processing units can be complex. In such cases, the efficiency assessment can be misleading if only basic parameters were accessed. Moreover, single-unit intensification can potentially improve the efficiency of the unit itself but cannot guarantee full process improvement. This can be due to negative causal effects in the downstream due to that unit intensification. This work reviews of key parameters at five selected pieces of WWTP equipment (inlet pump station, airlift pump, primary sedimentation tank, aeration chamber, and mixing of anaerobic digester) to demonstrate the correct selection of all affected parameters for the efficiency assessment. In the context of the whole WWTP process, it is necessary to take into account several other parameters to evaluate the efficiency of the equipment. Finally, a methodology for assessing the significance of the identified parameters is proposed. This methodology is effectively applied and demonstrated in the WWTP case study.

This work addresses the electrical behaviour of high-voltage (HV) SiC MOSFETs, being the main motivation to check their robustness. Large area (25 mm2) devices rated for 3.3 kV applications were fabricated with a special process for the gate oxide formation. The unit cell was designed to achieve good short-circuit performance. Static and dynamic characterization is presented at room and high temperature. Output curves and 3rd quadrant behaviour were analysed. Dynamic tests were performed at high bus voltages and high current. To check device robustness, short-circuit and power cycling’s were considered. Robustness test results put in evidence the achievement of reasonable good results obtained due to a suitable cell design.

Abstract:
A research has been developed for calculation models of allotypic pumping units load against a series of problems, which are ubiquitous in the oil field, such as unreasonable selection of the pumping unit type, low capacity factor of the pumping unit load, lacking of computing method of allotypic pumping unit load, etc. In the research, a calcaulation model of polished rod motion parameters has been firstly established according to the architectural feature of offset pumping units, dual horsehead pump units and tower pumping units. Then the load calculation model of allotypic pumping units were built based on the superposition method of each rod string stress. And after validating the load models in the oil field, the results have been indicated that the models have been in good agreement with the polished rod load. Therefore, the load calculation model of allotypic pumping units in this paper will be of some guidance significance to the selection of the pumping unit type and the stress check of the rod string in the oil field.
