Abstract:
This paper presents the findings of research carried out with the aim of gaining an understanding of the characteristics of male and female child characters in children's literature. "Characteristics" in our research refers to the representation, role and description of male and female characters. The sample consisted of 32 literary texts with child characters in readers used in the first and second grades of primary school. Using the descriptive method and the technique of content analysis, it was established that male characters are almost twice as represented as female characters and that they are more frequently the main characters in a text. With regard to character description, inquisitiveness, imaginativeness and resourcefulness are the most common traits of male characters, while kindness and sensibility are characteristics ascribed only to female characters. It is surprising that the female characters did not have negative traits, leading to the conclusion that their characteristics are more positively rated than the characteristics and actions of male characters. Based on our data, we can conclude that gender stereotypes are present in the descriptions of male and female characters, and we therefore invite readers to take part in further discussions and a more comprehensive analysis of the representation of child characters both in literary works and in other cultural products.

Abstract:
Kambar was a star of Tamil Literature Ramayanam Written by Valmiki was translated from Sanskrit Languages to Tamil by the great Poet Kambar. Eventhough is was a translated one, it seems to be a new epic written on his own with some added flavours that is why Ramayana was called to the Kambaramayanam along with the name of the poet which has been a fame till to day. Hanuman the son of Vayu is one of the unparalled fables created by kamber in the Kambaramayanam. In the Myth stories characters plays a vital role the characters are being seen as the one who give life to the story. According to S. Balachandran, “Each and every word spoken by the character has to show the special characteristics of the character”. This article Hanuman is shown as a connectivity bridge between the character, the one who has good characteristics, the one who with good speaking skills and the one who gave life and emotions to the story.

Abstract:
Characters for young readers In discussions on the nature of children and youth literature, various aspects occur repeatedly. The presumption that these aspects are also factors that exert a meaningful influence on the characters in the genre is largely confirmed by research. Based on developmental characteristics, 11-14 year-olds are identifiable as a group with a unique profile. From this it follows that a relationship between the reader profile en genre conventions can be indicated and that it can be applied specifically to character as an element of the narrative. Characteristic genres and genre conventions establish a framework of expectations within the reader, which co-determines the selection, creation and portrayal of characters. The social cognitive development of the young reader appears to be of special importance in character portrayal. Reader identification with characters largely contributes to reader involvement and to the pleasure a young reader derives from the reading of stories. As a result of the educational situatedness of the young reader, ideology plays an important role in literature for the young. Successful characters have always been regarded as important in ensuring the success of a story. Through selection and the equipping of characters, and by means of portrayal, the writer can work towards this aim.

Abstract:
Abstract This research examines literary techniques used in the adaptation of Lilit Taleng Phai to a Chakrabhand puppet play and analyzes characteristics of Taleng Phai: A Chakrabhand Puppet Play as performance literature. The study reveals that four literary techniques were used to make this adaptation: 1) adaptation of the content; 2) the characters; 3) the pattern; and 4) the presentation. These adaptations contribute to the characteristics of puppet play as performance literature through five conventions: 1) use of an invocation for puppet performance; 2) inclusion of puppet songs; 3) insertion of jokes; 4) method of delivery of puppets to the stage; and 5) not ending with the death of a character. Importantly, the play includes three innovations of puppet performance: 1) the creation of a puppet play from historical literature; 2) the creation of an atmosphere in a puppet performance; and 3) the creation of songs and a singing format.

Abstract:
It is emphasized in the literature that the quality of children's literature books need to be brought together with children, starting from early childhood. It is also known in these books how important it is for children to acquire models and meet the characters they can identify with. In this context, it is aimed to examine the characteristics of adult and child characters in children's literature books. Content analysis of fourteen books in which adult and child characters are the main characters from children 's novels in the last decade (2007-2017), which can be reached by criterion sampling method, were made. Four different tables developed by the researcher in order to determine the way of development, general and personality characteristics of the adult and child characters analyzed in this process were used and these tables were presented in the findings section. In general, results showed that adult and child characters were developed in five different character development paths and in detail, adult characters are not treated as much as child characters. Results also suggested that both adult and child characters are constructed with more positively perceived personality traits. In the discussion section, these findings have been discussed in the light of the basic characteristics of characters in children's literature books.Extended English abstract is in the end of Full Text PDF (TURKISH) file.ÖzetNitelikli çocuk edebiyatı yapıtlarının erken çocukluk döneminden başlayarak çocuklarla buluşturulmasının gerekliliği alanyazında vurgulanmaktadır. Abstract:
Humans not only err, they often err willingly and explicitly, for both pleasure and edification. We accordingly “find” faces everywhere . . . most frequently, in the “faces” in paintings. And if we look at stars, clouds, and shadows we can find anything we want to find, so great is the indeterminacy of such finding places and so willing are we, for certain purposes, to accept the most minimal likenesses as “like.”Adena Rosmarin, The Power of Genre (1985)Adena Rosmarin's comment is part of a wider discussion of E. H. Gombrich's idea of the role of “schema” in perceptions of art—a concept he uses to explain, among other things, how it is that observers can perceive a face in a collection of lines and dots, and, more generally, why it makes sense to say that all art begins not with nothing but with something. A snowman starts with the schema that is snow, for example, and we “work the snow and balance the shapes till we recognize a man.” And not only do we work the snow to achieve some approximation of human faces and bodies, but we find human characteristics in—or, more accurately, make characters out of—all sorts of things, living and not. Certainly, we project character onto living nonhumans, such as cats, dogs, birds, and plants, imagining that they share our feelings of love, loneliness, and desire, but we also assign character and characteristics to inanimate objects and assorted phenomena: ships, cars, and hurricanes all get names; we may talk to the toaster, or grumble at a shoelace that, we imagine, stubbornly refuses—refuses!—to untie. Thus it is hardly surprising that literary characters, intended expressly as vehicles for imaginative occupation, take on a similarly outsize quality in our psyches. Words on a page, constructions of language, they invite us to consider them as soulmates and doppelgängers; nightmare—or perhaps ideal—versions of parents, brothers, sisters, friends, and selves: the families we might have chosen if we could; the me (or not me) nobody knows.

Abstract:
Chaetodon auriga and Chaetodon vagabundus are popular marine aquaria fish from Cahetodontidae family. Both species show subtle morphological variations, especially in juvenile stages, which might lead to misidentification. Additional morphological characteristics, such as truss morphometric, are valuable characters for species identification in Chaetodontidae. This study aimed to evaluate morphological differences between Chaetodon auriga and C. vagabundus based on truss morphometric characters. The study is expected to provide new morphometric characters for Chaetodon auriga and C. vagabundus differentiation on the southern coast of West Java, Indonesia. Fish samples were collected from Ujunggenteng and Taman Manalusu Beach. The specimens were identified based on morphological characteristics and referred to the characters available in the literature. Truss morphometric characters were measured using callipers with an accuracy of 0.01mm and convert to ratio values to obtain constant value. The data were analyzed statistically using the Mann-Whitney test in SPSS software packages. The result showed that five truss morphometric characters were significantly different between C. auriga and C.vagabundus. This study concluded that C. auriga and C. vagabundus could be differentiated using truss morphometric character. This study provides five new morphometric characters for species differentiation in fish species, especially between C. auriga and C. vagabundus.

Abstract:
The archetypal sage character is a common, though relatively unexplored character, in young adult literature (YAL). Employing a sociocultural, constructivist understanding of archetypes, we unpack features of the sage through an examination of three sagacious characters: the Receiver of Memory in The Giver, Haymitch Abernathy in The Hunger Games, and Anatov in Akata Witch. Our analysis reveals how these characters are each marked with physical or behavioral abnormalities, are isolated from society and its institutions, and possess dangerous knowledge of eros (The Giver), power (The Hunger Games), and identity (Akata Witch). They are also depicted as standing in sharp contrast to other, more typical teachers in the intimate relationships they form with students and degree of vulnerability they display. All of these characteristics, we argue, might explain the appeal of the sagecharacter in YAL, as well as its curious absence from our common understanding of K-12 teachers and curriculum. Indeed, we see these characterizations of fictional teachers as raising interesting questions about sagacious mentorship and wisdom in schools.

Abstract:
The Victorian Era of writings of works such as Charles Dickens Hard Times used the social and environmental setting by which the characters live in; it is created by a philosophy that adds fuel to sustain the advancement of industrialization. The philosophy mirrors the mechanical characteristics of industrialization and how they are expressed is of great importance to the mechanical perceptions, such as objective utilitarianism. The mechanization that is found in the lives of the characters has an evil presence of depriving them of human dignity by living a mechanical lifestyle. It was the mechanical lifestyle that can be explained through Marxist theory to explain the key characteristics of the Industrial Era and its importance to materialism, as it represented political power. Marxism provides a theory for requiring the working class to concentrate on working in factories in Coketown and the “bourgeois” to separate themselves as competing agents of self-interest. It is a goal of the wealthy social class to maximize utility as a consumer and profit as a producer within the mechanical world. Keywords: Victorian Era; Mechanical Thinking; Marxist Theory

Abstract:
Primary amenorrhea is defined as failure to achieve menarche till age of 14 years in absence of normal secondary sexual characters or till 16 years irrespective of secondary sexual characters. The most common cause of primary amenorrhea is gonadal pathology followed by Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser syndrome (MRKH syndrome). MRKH syndrome is a rare congenital disorder characterised by uterine and vaginal aplasia. It occurs due to failure of development of Müllerian duct. Its incidence is 1 per 4500 female births. Mostly girls present with primary amenorrhea. It is characterised by presence of normal secondary sexual characteristics, normal 46 XX genotype, normal ovarian function in most of the cases and absent or underdeveloped uterus and upper part (2/3) of vagina. It is of two types: type A is isolated type while type B is associated with other renal/skeletal/cardiac anomalies. Treatment includes psychological counselling and vaginoplasty. Vaginoplasty can be done by various non-surgical and surgical techniques. The authors hereby review the literature of MRKH syndrome regarding its embryology, etiopathogenesis, approach to work up and management.

Abstract:
The article proposes an explanation for why spectators may enjoy excessive punishment when watching fiction, even in Scandinavia where harsh punishment is roundly condemned. Excessive punishment is typically carried out by a vigilante avenger, and in fiction this character is often a fantastic character (e.g., not realistic, taking on superhuman and/or supernatural characteristics). We allow ourselves to enjoy punishment more readily when the character who punishes is clearly fictional. In The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Let the Right One In, fantastic elements seep into an otherwise realistic setting and allow the spectator to fully enjoy the main characters’ vigilante revenge. The theory of fictional reliefs posited here holds that this mixture of modes facilitates one of two paths to moral judgment.

Abstract:
Humans have gone through many incidents, both good and bad experiences, and sometimes these experiences are shared with others in the form of stories. The stories, as one of the forms of literary works, would be nothing without the created characters within them because they provide the viewers with a purpose and a reason for us to learn about what happens in the story. Besides, they act as one important element in the movie with various psychological effects. This research aims to analyze the characteristics and the hierarchy of human needs, especially esteem needs, that appear in the main character named Will Traynor in the ‘Me Before You’ movie directed by Thea Sharrock. This study uses descriptive data analysis which describes a phenomenon and the main character in the movie. The results revealed seven characters comprising the esteem needs hierarchy: sensitive, open-minded, friendly, kind, confident, humble, and stubborn. The esteem needs hierarchy is the desire to have the need to be approved, valued, and recognized to have some self-esteem. This is striking in the movie because of the status of the character, Will Traynor as a lord, and Louisa Clark who is only a maid and has no superiority over Will in her life. The findings imply the personality of humans differ in their characters and psychology as shown from the esteem needs hierarchy in Will’s personality expressing the different types of characteristics.

Abstract:
This study was to formulate a gender-responsive agile leadership model during the Covid-19 pandemic. A systematic literature review using PRISMA methods and field research on 18 purposely selected mid-level managers was conducted. The research discovers that first, agile leadership characteristics can be classified into individual and organizational dimensions. Individual characteristics include the personal values of agile leaders with good personalities. Organizational characteristics are characteristics to maintain and bring the organization to face a fast-changing and uncertain world. Second, the characteristics of gender-perspective leadership in the Covid-19 era are the commitment to change the management system, organizational culture, and the quality of leadership to promote gender equity. Finally, the Gendered-Perspective Agile Leadership model in the VUCA era during the Covid-19 pandemic is a leadership model that can quickly respond to gender issues through management system change, organizational culture, and character development of leaders oriented to individual and organizational characteristics. Individually trained leader characters are supposed to be intelligent, optimistic, communicative, accountable and compassionate, while organizationally oriented leader characters are adaptive, responsive, innovative, flexible, and transparent. This paper uses thematic analysis to fill the gap of the gendered-perspective agile leadership model by exploring the characteristics of gendered- perspective agile leadership in the COVID- 19 era.

Abstract:
Sharing the sources of Southeast Asian folklore and folk literature, magical fairy tales of Vietnam and Laos have many similarities in a motif of building orphan characters. Applying structural theory in fairy tales with immutability and changes, the structure of the story is described by a series of events “signs help to make a schematic comparison of the structure of various tales,” (Propp, 1968, p.25) the article studies the magical fairy tale Tam and Cam of Vietnam and the Golden Turtle of Laos to see the similarities and differences in the motif of building orphan characters. The similarities in the motif of building orphan characters such as: story structure, character system, incarnation motif, unique object motif, magical force motif show the common cultural space of the region. However, the difference in the situation of the story and the use of magical forces and elements in the story show the customs, belief characteristics, artistic tastes and cultural identity of each nation.

The research purpose is to establish and analyze textual links (text signs) of the associative level with deep artistic psychological characteristics of the narrator’s image in the aspect of artistic-psychological sense generation, as well as to identify methods of activating the reader’s attention and creating an emotional response. The interdisciplinary research has been carried out at the junction of the psychological direction of literary criticism, communicative stylistics and psy- chology. The mechanism of representation of the narrator’s value ideas, attitudes and beliefs is traced through 1) «multi-layered» associations concerning the system of his views. They are revealed through the artistic-psychological intercon- nectedness and interdependence of the story characters; 2) a supporting element of the associative chain, as well as polysemy of the word-associate, superposition of meanings, semantic pulsation, inclusion in various artistic-psychological con- texts implemented in the course of associative explication; 3) a dominant content of the associates, which is different for the characters and serves as an artisticpsychological basis for the formation of the narrator’s associations between them and their text fragments; 4) a structural-semantic construction of an associative chain related to one character, but containing representatives related to another character, which reveals the narrator’s perception of both characters. The results of the study carried out in this article can be used in research and teaching activities, 18th century literature courses, textbooks, special course programs.

Abstract:
The supposed plight of multi-racial persons is widely depicted in modern American literature, including the works of William Faulkner, whose stories follow the lives of multi-racial characters such as Joe Christmas and Sam Fathers, who, reflecting characteristics of “tragic mulatto” figures, search for acceptance in a racially polarized Mississippi society. Yet more contemporary literature, including works by Michael Dorris, Leslie Marmon Silko, Toni Morrison, and Clarence Major, reference the historical relationship between African Americans and American Indians, featuring multi-racial characters that more successfully fit the fabric of current American culture than do more “traditional” works such as Faulkner's. While an outdated black-white binary still lingers in American perceptions of race, increasingly, racial identity is now informed by self-identification, community recognition, and acculturation. As a result, black and Indian characters, as well as multi-racial authors, provide varied and insightful glimpses into the complexity of America's racial landscape.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to comprehensive research on the novel The Little Friend by D. Tartt. It investigates the narrative features and genre characteristics of the literary work. The immanent method was used in research to study the narrative model: the symbolic meaning of the title, the specifics of the settings and plot structure, means of characterization, the theme of racial inequality, intertextuality, and photographic ekphrasis in the novel. The contextual method allowed us to identify the features of the ‘southern noir’ in the novel, as well as to consider the traditional and innovative manifestations of the characteristics of young adult literature. The theme of growing up in the novel is associated with traditional motives of loss, experiencing death, illness, mental pain, disappointment, and self-attainment. The Little Friend is third-person narration, this is the only work by D. Tartt where it is used, opposite to the retrospective confessional narration of the novels The Secret History and The Goldfinch. The story is told by the omniscient author who enters the mind of his character. It gives the writer the possibility to focus not only on the inner world of the main characters but also to present the historical and cultural background, as well as to create expressive psychological portraits of the minor characters and their families. The tone of the novel is quite conversational; the narrator is very exact in describing the characters and places. The paper concludes that the novel simultaneously contains the features of young adult fiction – the theme of growing up through overcoming trials (loneliness, loss, fighting the evil / awareness of the illusory nature of ideas about it), and the characteristics of the literature of the American South, the contexts of which play a crucial role for D. Tartt as a writer and a person.

Abstract:
The article deals with the study of the peculiarities of linguistic expression of the category of assessment, which as a universal language category operating at different language levels, plays an important role in the choice of native speakers and, consequently, culture, language means of information and is equally important for mental processes of perception, comprehension and acceptance or non-acceptance of this information. The publications in the scientific literature on various aspects of the study of the category of evaluation in terms of language have been reviewed. The analysis of the peculiarities of verbalization of the category of evaluation is carried out on the material of fictional and dramatic discourse, which is a productive language environment for studying the category of evaluation, because through verbalized national-cultural ideas and stereotypes are reflected the conceptual and linguistic pictures of the world. First of all, this category is manifested in the language and characteristics of the characters. Special attention is paid to the characters of a (chynovnyk, pan, a pani, a panna and a cossack, verbalized in the fictional and dramatic discourse of the XIX century. Evaluative characteristics, which are the elements of language modeling of fictional images, served as a basis for distinguishing the following types of evaluation: positive and negative evaluation in the structure of the text narrative, neutral evaluation, hidden positive evaluation, author's evaluation, evaluation by other characters. A positive evaluation in the language of fiction is shown by the linguistic means of creating the character of a cossack. Negative assessment was found in the linguistic means of creating the image of the pan (landlord), the images of the pani and panna are ambivalent. Evaluation is present both in the language of the characters and in the author's characteristics or comments. The object of evaluation in the fictional and dramatic genres can be both internal and external characteristics of the characters, and external characteristics are often marked by positive evaluation, while internal features have either negative or ambivalent evaluation characteristics. It was found that the ways of realization of positive or negative evaluation in the language of fiction are quite diverse. They depend on the literary and fictional methods, the creative manner of the writer and reflect his worldview.

Abstract:
This article is a study to classify the epithets referring to the characters in four Thai poetic works. The study results revealed that there are two groups of epithets to be found. The first one is epithets to praise characters by referring to their valuable entities, their dignity and their beauty. The second one is epithets to inveigh against characters. These epithets focus on the characters’ ethnicity, negative characteristics, ugly physical appearance, and worthless elements. The use of epithets is the poet’s strategy to express meaning and emotion in their poetic works. Moreover, the use of epithets through various words makes the literature more colorful and enhances emotional feelings in the readers.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the analysis of the type of characters in Russian classical literature, for which the author proposes the definition of “restless person” (by analogy with “superfluous” and “little man”). According to the observations of the author, “the nickname of a restless person” was first formally applied to the hero of one of the stories by V.I. Dahl (1842). A similar type (the type of Don Quixote), clearly manifested in the image of Chatsky from “Woe from Wit” by A.S. Griboyedov, became quite common in prose and drama of the 19th century. The article examines characteristic features of this type of literary characters in the heroes of A.N. Ostrovsky, N.S. Leskov and others, analyzes the perception of this type in Russian criticism, reflection by its writers, I.S. Turgenev, F.M. Dostoevsky, Maxim Gorky.

Abstract:
The English novelist Charles John Hoffman Dickens (1812-1870) is well known for scholars and students of English literature. His name is always accompanied to some( classics) in the history of the English novel such as: ( Oliver Twist( 1839), David Copperfield (1850), Hard Times ( 1854 ), The Tale of Two Cities ( 1859 )Great Expectations (1860) and other novels. He is one of the most professional novelists of the Victorian age; rather, he is regarded by many critics as the father of the realistic trend and the greatest novelist of his age. In his fiction, Dickens created some of the world's best-known fictional characters that became prototypes not only in English but in world literature as well. Oliver Twist presents a unique depiction of evil and good characters in English society through a highly serious and powerful conflict full of dramatic events like a traditional tragedy, but the line of action turns to satisfaction and happy end just like a work of comedy. This paper claims that the novelist employs the dramatic genre: Tragi-comedy into a novel by mixing elements of both tragedy and comedy. Although the action in the novel is highly tragic and full of miseries and evil plots, the novel ends happily.

Abstract:
A vast body of literature has dealt with the challenges of creating the impression of human appearance and human-like motion in the animation of game characters. In this paper, we further refine these efforts by creating a flexible environment for animating game characters endowed with personality, which is a core descriptor of stable characteristics of human behavior and which is often expressed in human movement. We base our work on the Big Five personality traits, also known as OCEAN (Openness, Conscientiousness, Extroversion, Agreeableness, Neuroticism). Our environment incorporates a procedural mapping from OCEAN personality traits to movement modifiers that alter existing motions in ways compatible with a desired personality. Using Amazon Mechanical Turk, we collected stereotypical personality profiles for 135 nationalities and 100 professions. We integrated these stereotypical personality expectations into an interactive interface in Unity3D. Users can linearly blend the nationality and profession OCEAN parameters and individually adjust them for specific characters or groups. The results are validated using Amazon Mechanical Turk pairwise judgments on character types based on movements.

Abstract:
Leadership is a key function and process to unlock the effectiveness and enhancement of any organization’s development, including Religious-NGOs (RNGOs). This can be attained via three main characteristics, which are charismatic, transformational and servant leadership. Previous research has proved that these characteristics are relevant for NGOs, but little was found for RNGOs. RNGO is a form of NGO that is well-known for its active role in contributing to a harmonious and religious society. This paper focused on the concept of leadership in RNGOs and an introductory to the identity of Malaysian Islamic RNGOs that are diverse by ethnic identities. This study was qualitative in nature and depended heavily on existing literature and official reports. The study found that all three selected Islamic RNGOs that represent the Malay Muslims, Chinese Muslims and Indian Muslims adopt and practice charismatic, transformational and servant leadership in executing their organizations’ objectives, which could possibly be a yardstick to effective RNGO leadership development in the future.

Abstract:
The article deals with Tolstoy’s statements about art form. Recognizing the close connection of these ideas with the ethical, religious and philosophical foundations of Tolstoy’s aesthetics, set forth by the writer in articles and treatises, the author of the article refers mainly to literary and critical works and scattered opinions expressed by him in letters, diaries, and conversations with contemporaries. The stages of selection and systematization of Tolstoy’s statements about the formal aspects of a literary work are outlined. Tolstoy’s judgments about composition and artistic speech were attracted by researchers in the course of analyzing his works. The most problematic and topical issue at the present time is the question of the features of the world of the literary work, which is understood by modern researchers as a complex non-verbal sphere of the literary work. Tolstoy repeatedly spoke about the main components of the world: the plot and characters, as well as those elements that make up the image of people and events. In the image of the characters – a portrait, gesture, speech characteristics, connection with the place of development of the action. The writer pays much attention to the content function of «faces», characters, and types. Stating that a number of Tolstoy’s judgments precede the ideas of formalists, the author of the article concludes that it is promising to study Tolstoy’s judgments about formal aspects and literary technique. Presented and understood as a single system, they could be included in the solution of the problems of modern theoretical poetics.

In the modern period, the problem of bilingualism in the literary-artistic aspect is connected both with the study of the speech characteristics of characters in artistic works and with the analysis of the literature created by bilingual writers and perceived by bilingual societies. In the formation and development of the artistic literary school in the North Caucasus, the dissemination and study of Arabic and Russian languages was very important. The article traces the dynamics of the development of bilingualism in the artistic prose of the North Caucasus peoples (XIX - beginning of the XXI century). The novelty of the research is due to the cultural approach to the analysis of bilingualism as an important phenomenon that reflects mental, ethnocultural and universal spiritual values.

Abstract:
Physical paper puppets are inanimate objects, but when we’re speaking in terms of the production of traditional paper cut out animation, they become the actors and the souls that drive the movie. When shooting and animating traditional paper cut out animation, the puppets are laid flat on a surface so they can only move in limited directions compared to conventional 2D or 3D animation. As we know, each character in animated movie has its own personality and unique to each other. The challenge lays in bringing out the characteristics and personality of the character through the limited medium of paper puppet. In this qualitative research, puppet movements will be applied to quadruped cat characters in a public service announcement titled “Spay & Neuter”. The puppet along with the visual design, segmentations, and joints were done in previous research. Qualitative observations and audio-visual materials are used to collect the data for references. Literature review will study the characteristics of cats, body language, behaviour, and principles of animation especially timing and exaggeration. Observation is conducted by studying the movements of real cats from online videos and direct observations and also studying how other animators animate cat characters in animated films. In the exploration stage, paper puppets will be animated according to the movement design while experimenting with the timing and frame rate of the stop motion to achieve the final results.

In the Ming through the Qing Dynasties, literary works captured Huizhou through scenic depictions of its mountains and rivers, villages, wealth, literary families, and portrayals of the local people. In these works, Huizhou men are described as virtuous, literary, and gallant while Huizhou women are often seen as knowledgeable, worldly, and industrious characters upholding the values of feudal society. By exploring such depictions of Huizhou, this article considers the way in which literary depictions correspond to historical reality, how scenes depicted in literature accord with the specific and various characteristics of a region, and the inextricable ties between scenic depictions in literature (wenxue tujing 文學圖景) and regional literature (diyu wenxue 地域文學).

Abstract:
A reappraisal of the eggshell of ratites clarifies aspects of its microstructure and ultrastructure. The phylogenetic usefulness of the eggshell data, consisting of discrete characters, is assessed using eggshell characters alone and by adding the eggshell characters to a data matrix from the literature based on skeletal characters. The resultant tree from the eggshell data alone yields Apteryx as the most basal ratite, dinornithids as the sister taxon of a clade of large living ratites, with Casuarius and Dromaius in a sister-group relationship. The combined eggshell and skeletal analysis revealed most groupings within Ratitae that were based on previous cladistic analysis of the skeletal characters alone, but also supports two equally parsimonious topologies: one identifies Dinornithidae and Apteryx as a clade at the base of Ratitae, and the other identifies Apteryx as the sister taxon of a clade consisting of all the other ratites. It is determined that the characteristics used to define the improperly named "ratite morphotype" in the current eggshell parataxonomy are not synapomorphies of the eggshell of Ratitae. An expanded cladistic analysis of the eggshells of avian and non-avian theropods is required to determine the phylogenetic usefulness of the characteristics of the ratite morphotype.

Abstract:
Abstract The parallels between the books of the Enoch cycle and the Coptic literature have not yet been fully investigated, and meanwhile they allow us to find out some data on the origin and meaning of the books of Enoch. For example, the Coptic Encomium to the Four Living Creatures from the Pierpont Morgan Library has a section which must be considered as a very close retelling of one episode from the 2nd (Slavonic) Book of Enoch. Subsequently, the image of four animals influenced the description of zoomorphic mythological characters, the so-called “leontocephals”, in the apocryphal literature. In the encomium there are a number of parallels with the 2nd Enoch, which allow to determine more precisely the date and features of this pseudepigraphon.

Abstract:
A girl as the title character rarely appeared in written in the 1920s young adult literature about the Russian Civil War. The article discusses the novella “Little Red Devils” (1923) by Pavel Blyakhin, in which a teenage girl Dunyasha becomes a participant in the Russian Civil War. The important feature of this text was the author’s attention to gender and national characteristics, which undoubtedly corresponded to the political agenda of the 1920s. Blyakhin creates an active heroine who in many respects matches the heroines of the Russian Civil War as they are portrayed in adult literature. A typical characteristic of such heroines is the appropriated masculinity along with the girl’s features. The presence of typologically similar characters contributed to the creation of a single field of children’s and adult literature about the Russian Civil War. Feminine traits are generally interpreted as positive, and the writer tries to combine them with the category of heroic. At the same time, Dunyasha is not much different from the title heroine of Lidiya Charskaya’s novel “Igor and Militsa” (1915). Blyakhin does not cancel the exploits of the heroine, unlike Charskaya who at the end of the novel remembers about “female destiny”, but fixes gender equality, which corresponds to the new gender order, and this is his innovation.

Abstract:
Tamil is an old Indian language with a large corpus of literature on palm leaves, and other constituents. Palm leaf manuscripts were a versatile medium for narrating medicines, literature, theatre, and other subjects. Because of the necessity for digitalization and transcription, recognizing the cursive characters found in palm leaf manuscripts remains an open problem. In this research, a unique Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) technique is utilized to train the characteristics of the palm leaf characters. By this training, CNN can classify the palm leaf characters significantly on training phase. Initially, a preprocessing technique to remove noise in the input image is done through morphological operations. Text Line Slicing segmentation scheme is used to segment the palm leaf characters. In feature processing, there are some major steps used in this study, which include text line spacing, spacing without obstacle, and spacing with an obstacle. Finally, the extracted cursive characters are given as input to the CNN technique for final classification. The experiments are carried out with collected cursive Tamil palm leaf manuscripts to validate the performance of the proposed CNN with existing deep learning techniques in terms of accuracy, precision, recall, etc. The results proved that the proposed network achieved 94% of accuracy, where existing ResNet achieved 88% of accuracy.

Abstract:
The Joker is one of the most frightening comic book characters ever created and has, as a result, been the subject of numerous adaptations to film and television. This article analyses the portrayals of the Joker by actors Heath Ledger and Joaquin Phoenix in The Dark Knight (2008) and Joker (2019), respectively, and the differences in their representations of the Joker in relation to fear. It also explores how the two films serve as allegorical representations of public fears present at the time of the films’ creation, and how these fears are either embodied in or experienced by each films’ Joker. Fear elements utilized by each film’s Joker character are also analysed, i.e., acts of terrorism, use of make-up, and laughter. Moreover, the article’s treatment of the Joker reveals a character who is a victim both of public fears and of his own traumatic past—fearful experiences which come to shape the Joker’s violent persona. The article’s comparative analysis makes use of psychological and sociological explanations of fear and its characteristics.

Abstract:
A literary character is a structural and semantic element of the whole literary work. Depending on the point of view from which it is observed, the dominant spiritual-scientific background and the genre in which it appears, a literary character is also called a hero, character, figure, agent or actor. It is an instance of a literary text that is one of the structural elements of a literary work, but at the same time it is an independent system. The terms "literary character" and "character" are often identified, but at the same time differences are discerned in the context of the use of these terms. In this sense, the character is generally understood as a broader concept, while the character is attributed to people where a certain individuality and relative stability in change is assumed. The vagueness of the term character is conditioned by its general use in everyday speech in the ethical and psychological sense as a positive or negative definition of an individual and a description of his certain mental characteristics primarily those related to attitudes, emotional relationships and motivations. It is precisely this use of the term character in everyday speech, in the teaching of literature, that makes the term itself close and topical to students. Therefore, character as a structural part of a literary work is often imposed as a starting point for the interpretation of a literary work in the teaching of literature. However, this vagueness of the notion of character in the traditional analysis of character in literary works is reflected in the way that the characters of a literary work are often reduced to an assessment of their ethical attitude or attention is paid to whether it is a positive or negative character. In this way, the fictionality of a literary character is lost sight of as a phenomenon that exists exclusively in a literary work that only "gives" it ethical properties and psychological characteristics. Unlike traditional literary-scientific analysis, the newer science of literature in character analysis regularly focuses on the process of characterization, which has had a significant positive effect on the methodological approach to the literary character in the teaching of literature.
