Abstract:
Defining chronic depression as persistent symptoms for 2 or more years, a prevalence of chronic depression of 12–15% is found in the literature. A four-part classification of chronic depression is proposed: Chronic Primary Major Depression; Chronic Secondary Major Depression; Characterological or Chronic Minor Depression (Dysthymic Disorder); and ‘Double Depression’. The literature indicates several factors predicting chronicity in primary major depression: more at risk are female patients, particularly those with premorbid neurotic personality traits, individuals with unipolar disorders, and those with higher familial loading for such disorders. Other factors are the adequacy and appropriateness of the treatment given, and the length of illness episode prior to treatment being received. Larger studies with well-matched controls are needed.

Abstract:
For three decades in the pages of foreign scientific literature, the problem of alcoholism in the family parental and marital has been discussed. Particular attention is paid to the personality of the spouses of alcoholic patients. So, for a long time, the question of the unity of the characterological traits of the wives of alcoholic patients was exaggerated, to whom a tendency to dominance, a subconscious desire to fix alcoholic vices in the husband to maintain a leading position in the family was attributed. Despite the negative results of studies rejecting the existence of a single psychological "portrait" of the wife of an alcoholic patient, the question of the choice of spousal partners in such families remains relevant.

Abstract:
Epilepsy is associated with interictal behavioral disturbances. The pattern of specific psychopathology differs from that of other chronic diseases because of the higher incidence of psychosis and characterological disorders. Approximately 7 percent of epileptics develop a chronic atypical psychosis with paranoid and affective features, and this may be more common in patients with a definite temporal lobe focus. Brief psychotic episodes occur and are more directly related to cerebral dysrhythmia. A subgroup of epileptics develop specific personality traits, aggressive behaviors under certain circumstances, and hyposexuality. Affective illness and suicide are also prevalent. There are special issues in the management of psychopathology in the setting of epilepsy such as the relative seizure threshold lowering effects of psychotropic drugs and the behavioral effects of altering the seizure control. This article discusses both diagnostic and management aspects of the interictal psychopathology of epilepsy.

Abstract:
The object of this research is the residents of Chelyabinsk, while the subject is the anxiety in perception of environmental information. Chelyabinsk was selected as a typical metropolis with the established industrial image, where the existing environmental situation differs from the average in the country. Attention is turned to the problem of environmental anxiety characteristic for people living in large cities. Analysis is conducted on the peculiarities of collective perception of information on environmental problems by urban residents, as well as environmental anxiety that occurs as a response to the environment and related information. It is noted that this problem falls not only under the scope of ecology, but also ecological consciousness of the population and image of the city. The novelty of this research lies in revealing personality traits that contribute or impede the development of anxiety in perception of information by residents of the city. Within the framework of this study, the author developed the projective test for assessing the situational anxiety. For determining personal anxiety and other accentuations, the article employs Smishek's “characterological questionnaire, as well as self-actualization test (SAT). This article is first to provide summary results of all three tests. Several groups of city residents with different response to environmental information are revealed, among which are the groups with personal and situational anxiety. The groups are described in terms of accentuations and personality traits.

Abstract:
Personality disorders have ever been a troublesome group. From the early 90’s ICD 10 tidied up the group. DSM-IV, IV-TR, aand then DSM 5, changed the style but not substance, leaving clinicians to grapple with thorny questions of multiple diagnoses, treatment and prognosis. International views on the utility of the diagnosis often depended upon the institution or the funding mechanism. Were fears of exclusion and stigma dominated or where there was no treatment, there was under-diagnosis, such as in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. Where a label was a ticket of entry to treatment and funding, diagnostic generosity prevailed, such as in Australia, New Zealand and the United States. Gender discrepancies disappeared with structured interviews, and interest grew in the category which seem to only include the most severe forms. For many years the DSM taskforce tried to shift the construct but shied away from the cliff edge; a bold new initiative did not materialise. It was left to the ICD-11 to generate a much more adventurous and positive view of how characterological traits shift under pressure, moving from something that may at first have helped patients to ‘survive’ to something that became maladaptive and harmful. With a court tested case Dr Wise will demonstrate the differences between ICD-10 and ICD-11 highlighting the more important differences: onset, course and severity descriptors. PD’s are no longer lifelong impairments. Prepare for ‘The shock of the new’!DisclosureNo significant relationships.

Abstract:
The psychological characteristics of professionally maladapted cadets are considered. For signs of maladjustment were taken: performance - 3,5 points and below; physical fitness - 3 points and below; high incidence: the number of days of work loss from the beginning of the school year - 11 days or more; low discipline; poor relationship with the command and with colleagues, low psychological stability. Psychological personality traits can both contribute to the military-professional adaptation, and hinder it. Well-adapted cadets for training in a military college are characterized by a high level of stress tolerance, they are curious, have flexible thinking, they have hyperthymic characterological features. Professionally maladjusted cadets are characterized by stereotyped thinking, the prevalence of anxious and exalted character traits, the use of physical force against another person, readiness for the manifestation of negative feelings with the slightest excitement (hot temper), suspicion of relations with others, the expression of negative feelings as through form (cry , screeching), and through the content of verbal responses (curses, threats), the oppositional manner in behavior from passive resistance to active struggle From established customs and laws, they are more aggressive. Based on discriminant modeling, a highly informative forecast model of military professional maladjustment of cadets was developed as part of medical and psychological support measures (Wilks lambda: 0,29207 approx. Abstract:
The subject of this article is the search for individual psychological peculiarities of the inconsistency between cognitive and socio-psychological development of students. The relevance of this topic is substantiated by the theoretical diversity of research on the inconsistency in psychology and the need for the development of socio-cultural and cognitive skills in the educational process. A hypothesis is advanced that the inconsistency between the processes of cognitive and socio-personal development would be variable, determining the individual psychological methods of its resolution. The goal of this research lies in conjoint analysis of cognitive and personal characteristics for assessing the inconsistency of students’ development. The author applies the correlational research design, which is defined by the goal of research and specificity of the sampling. The survey involved 34 students (18 boys and 16 girls) of the Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science of the Ural Federal University aged 18-22 (M=18.3 3 SD=0.79). The article employs the psychodiagnostic questionnaires: Aizenka EPI test; short version of the “Dark Triad of Personality” scale adapted by M. S. Egorova and others; characterological questionnaire by G. Schmishek, “Rational-experiential” questionnaire by S. Epstein adapted by T. V. Kornilova, A. Y. Razvalyaeva; Mann-Whitney U-test, Spearman's rank correlation coefficient. The following gender differences are revealed: for the female students, cognitive and personal characteristics are generally more interrelated, while the pronounced affective personality traits testify to the possible tension in social communication; male students demonstrated greater proneness to rational processing of information and formation of engineering skills, while weakness of integration of the inner and outer Self, which may increase narcissistic traits, reduce self-criticism, and cause difficulties in establishment and maintenance of social contacts. The acquired results empirically  prove the importance of socio-psychological competence, and allow differentiating the technologies of its formation in the educational process.

Abstract:
The modern tendencies of psychology of development determine priority of the personality orientated model in the context of which child’s personality and idea of his/her integral development acquire the special value. The ambiguousness of interpretation of the phenomenon of gift and complication of his diagnostics creates serious difficulties in forming of the gifted personality, maintenance of his/her individuality and opening of talent. The aim of our paper is to determine the conditions of the educational environment for the development and adaptation of gifted children, substantiate the relationship between giftedness and adaptability, and present the results of the developed model of the adaptation process of gifted children. The category of gift belongs to the most fundamental description of personality. Nowadays there is a row of approaches to its determination. Most scientists examine a gift as a quality transformation of capabilities, as individual originality of makings, as psychological pre-condition of creative development of personality. Essence of personality development of the gifted children is determined as totality of their subjectivity, consciousness and system of values. The gifted child, unlike other children, in a greater measure is provided with ability to achieve the excellent degrees of subjectivity, consciousness, system of values, self-development in condition of successful adaptation process. Adaptation of gifted children is understood by us as a process of manifestation and development of giftedness and formation of children’s individuality in the educational environment. The social situation of development, development of gift and adaptability of the gifted children are correlated with the formation of personal reflection and self-esteem, self-confidence, value consciousness, the formation of characterological personality traits – communication, confidence, emotional stability, self-control, and reluctance to aggression. The presented model of the adaptation process determines the conditions of the educational environment for the development and adaptation of gifted children constructive relationships in the contact social environment (gifted children, parents, teachers, peers) and educational activities that contribute to adaptation and disclosure of children's giftedness through the formation of personal qualities, self-esteem, self-awareness and self-affirmation, personal values and reflection. Awareness of personal values, their own achievements and their recognition are value determinants of the development of creative abilities and personal identity of gifted children. A level, quality originality and character of the development of children’s gift are the result of a difficult cooperation of abilities, pedagogical conditions of the educational environment and psychological mechanisms of personal self- development and self-realization.

Abstract:
The current study examined the non-skeptic view of paranormal belief, suggesting that belief in the paranormal does not indicate psychopathology. This study examines the non-pathological personality traits present in paranormal believers by using a broad personality test. One hundred and one participants completed the Paranormal Belief Scale (PBS) and the Personality Research Form (PRF) in order to examine the differences among the personality traits of high and low paranormal believers. High and low paranormal belief was determined by the participants overall score on the Paranormal Belief Scale. The results indicated that there were only two significant personality differences among high and low paranormal believers. High believers scored significantly higher on the PRF scales of Aggression and Defendence. However, there were no differences on any other scales. The current results indicate that high and low believers do not differ on traits considered non-pathological.

Abstract:
In this thesis I construct a unique dataset to test the role of individual characteristics in affecting the investor behaviour. In particular, I present two empirical research papers that investigate trading patterns unlikely to be driven by rational models, and a literature review in which are summarized the main findings within the new field of “personality finance”. Using an experimental analysis that combine a trading simulation with a Big-Five personality questionnaire, Paper 1 and Paper 2 illustrate how personality affects the individual level of disposition effect and trading volume respectively. In detail, among a sample of 230 students, in the first paper I find strong heterogeneity in the level of disposition effect recorded. In explaining these differences and controlling for demographic variables, I show that the trait of extroversion is positively related with tendency to sell stocks at gain rather than at loss, while subjects with high conscientiousness and openness to experience are less biased. In a different sample of 176 students, from Paper 2, I demonstrate that emotionally stable investors are more likely to exhibit higher trading volume, while high-conscientiousness seems to weaker it. Demographics and risk-attitude measures moderate the individual in- vestment choices. Finally, in the third paper I introduce a literature review on those works in which the personality of the investors is used to explain subjects trading performance and specific financial phenomena. I try to organize the main findings from this new field, named “personality finance”, identifying the psychological sources that can predict the heterogeneity in the individual investment behaviour.

Abstract:
Advertisements have been in digital media for most of its lifetime. They have, however, been increasing with the years and more people are finding the number of advertisements to be excessive. Online users have therefore taken to avoiding advertisements by installing ad-blockers. There have been multiple studies on how ad-blockers work and why people use them. There have also been studies on which demographics mostly use ad-blockers. Younger men are generally seen as the typical ad-block user. However, none have seen if certain personality traits are more common amongst ad-block users. The purpose of this research is therefore to investigate if there are any differences in personality traits amongst ad-block users and non-ad-block users. The Big Five Inventory with 10-questions (BFI-10) personality test is used in an online survey to get an understanding of participants ad-block usage and personality traits. The personality traits that stood out were among females ad-block users with the personality traits of extraversion and neuroticism. The purpose of the study is to indicate a possible way for advertisers to prohibit their message to fall on uninterest and ad-avoiding recipients, and to provide some insights regarding ad-block user segmentation among Swedish ad-block users.

Abstract:
The 5 factor model of personality, including the traits of openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism, is a well-established theoretical model for describing how personality is structured. Hirsh (2010) demonstrated the big 5 personality traits, excluding extraversion, were correlated with pro-environmental attitudes. The purpose of this quantitative study was to replicate previous findings, and discover if there was a correlation with a person's pro-environmental behaviors and the big 5 personality traits. A total of 100 participants from an online participant pool completed a survey, which included the Environmental Concern Scale to measure concern and attitudes about the environment, and the General Ecological Behavior scale and the Self-Reported Pro-environmental Behavior Scale to measure participants' pro-environmental behaviors. Bivariate correlations and multiple regression were performed to determine the predictive relationship between personality traits and pro-environmental attitudes and behaviors. The trait of openness was significantly correlated with both pro-environmental attitudes, r(91) = .36, p < .01, and behaviors r(93) = .41, p < .01. Agreeableness was also significantly correlated with pro-environmental behaviors r(93) = .26, p <. 05. Multiple regression revealed that trait of openness was found to be a significant predictor of pro-environmental concern F(5, 87) = 3.69, p < .005, and behaviors F(5, 89) = 4.04, p < .002. The implications for positive social change include a better understanding for psychologists of which of the Big 5 personality traits are more likely to contribute in the participation preserving the environment.

Abstract:
Women are a particularly vulnerable group when it comes to victimization while intoxicated. Personality traits and characteristics have been shown to have an impact on alcohol consumption. Previous research regarding the Big Five Personality Traits indicates higher drinking levels if a person scores high within “Extraversion” and “Neuroticism”, or scores low within the traits of “Agreeableness” and “Conscientiousness”. Concerning women, “Openness” seems to be the only personality related to alcohol consumption, but previous research is scarce. The main focus of previous research has been on the Big Five Personality Traits, people in general and alcohol consumption. Our focus was Swedish women, age range 18-50 years. We proposed that personality traits could affect alcohol consumption and because of the lack of research we specifically wanted to examine women. The results showed that personality traits have an impact on women’s alcohol consumption. In conclusion, women tend to drink more alcohol if they score high on “Extraversion” and “Neuroticism”, and, if they scored low on “Agreeableness” and “Conscientiousness”. This could mean that personality traits serves as risk factors for alcohol consumption. “Openness” and alcohol consumption showed no association. Future research should investigate how other factors combined with personality traits might affect alcohol consumption.

Full text
Abstract:
The World Wide Web is a great source of products and services available to people. Scientists have made a huge effort to create effective strategies to personalize those products/services for anyone willing to use them. The personalization may be provided by Recommender Systems which are able to match people’s preferences to specific products or services. Scientists from different research areas such as Psychology, Neurology and Affective Computing agree that human reasoning and decision-making are hardly ever affected by psychological aspects. Thus, to maintain the same level of personalized service provided by humans, computers should also “reason”, taking into account users’ psychological aspects. Nevertheless, the psychological aspects have, unfortunately, not been highly applied in most models of User Profiles used in Recommender Systems. As a result, the existing Recommender Systems do not actually use psychological aspects such as Personality Traits during their decision-making process in order to generate their recommendations. In this thesis we propose the implementation of the Personality Traits in User Profiles so it is possible to obtain evidence that the use of Personality Traits in Recommender Systems might be coherent and effective for the improvement of the recommendations for users and, therefore, act proactively towards users’ needs, offering more adaptable products and services according to their future needs.

Abstract:
Abstract The fly-in-fly-out personnel on the oil platform are exposed to extreme climatic and geographic and production factors, and also remain in group isolation conditions, which makes demands on the body of the fly-in-fly-out worker that often exceed its reserves. This excludes the possibility of full psychological adaptation to these conditions and causes the emergence of specialist's unfavorable functional states, which lead to a decrease in the mental health level, productivity and professional performance. The worker's labor tasks of various professions differ in physical and physiological stress, as well as in the degree of harmful production factors action. The goal is to identify the psychological adaptability of the offshore ice-resistant oil and gas production platform fly-in-fly-out employees in the Caspian Sea. The study was conducted on the offshore ice-resistant platform in the Caspian Sea (April 2019), 50 employees took part in it (fly-in duration - 14 days \ fly-out period – 14 days). Research methods are questionnaire, psychological and psychophysiological testing. By psychological adaptation we understand a personality traits system necessary for the productive performance of our leading activities. Due to the fact that fly-in-fly-out oil and gas workers are affected by climate, production and socio-psychological factors, we will study psychological adaptability through subjective criteria: indicators of regulatory processes, subjective control, socio-psychological adaptation, as well as personal characteristics, and objective criteria: functional state level (working capacity, job stress and other). The psychological adaptability peculiarities were revealed among employees with an optimal and reduced level of functional reserves and working capacity. The oil and gas production platform employees are distinguished by a high level of self-regulation, which is expressed in the ability to form a self-regulation style that allows them to compensate for the personal influence, characterological characteristics that impede the goal achievement. Among the regulatory processes, a high expression level is observed in planning and modeling. The employees have a need for conscious planning of activities, the plans in this case are realistic, detailed, hierarchical, effective and stable, the goals of the activity are put forward independently. They are able to identify significant conditions for achieving goals both in the current situation and in the long-term future, which is manifested in the adequacy of the action programs to the action plans, the results correspondence obtained to the adopted goals. Programming, evaluation of results, independence and flexibility are developed among employees at an average level. The workers are characterized by an average subjective control level. They believe that most of the important events in their life are the result of their own actions, that they can control them, and feel their own responsibility for these events and for the way their life in general develops. It should be noted that there is a negative relationship between the subjective control level and the functional reserves level of employees. With an increase in the subjective control level, the internal reserves decrease level. This can be explained by the fact that taking responsibility for life events requires more inclusion and resources. A high level of subjective control can lead to overexertion of employees. This is confirmed by the results of our previous studies.
