Abstract:

Abstract:
The last three years as the co-Chairs of the IUCN–SSC–African Elephant Specialist Group (AfESG/or referred to here as ‘the Group’) has been extremely busy but enjoyable and fulfilling. We feel indebted to our highly skilled and dedicated Group members who are always supportive and on their toes to promote our mission of conserving Africa’s elephants throughout their range. The Group’s input coupled with the unwavering support of the governments of range states, donors and multi-lateral agencies has enabled us to make significant strides as a Group in the last three years. We therefore begin the new 2021–2024 IUCN quadrennium on a strong footing. More so, we have strengthened our membership in numbers, additional skillsets and by building collegiality with governments and multi-lateral agencies. Our nine working groups and task forces are poised to tackle some thirty targets which we developed around our goals and aligned to the five key components of Assess, Plan, Act, Communicate and Network in the IUCN’s Species Strategic Plan. Here, we further elaborate on our targets and plans for 2021–2024 quadrennium and provide updates on the progress of some of the issues we reported on in Pachyderm 61. Key among them include AfESG’s decision in 2021 to treat the African elephants as two separate species and the subsequent reflection of this shift in the recently published IUCN Red List re-assessments of African elephants. The two species are also under consideration in the ongoing iteration of the next African Elephant Status Report. We hope these approaches will help users focus appropriate conservation attention/measures for the critically endangered forest elephant and the endangered savannah elephant and to put both their numbers and habitats back on a thriving trajectory. There are of course imminent implications and consequences of this shift that we will have to identify and deal with. We highlight the long-term sustainability and revamping plans for the African Elephant Database (AED)—our official repository and most authoritative source of information on African elephant surveys. We also report on the appointment of the Red List Authority Coordinator for African elephants.

Abstract:
The discovery that the use of antibiotic in food animals is fueling the increasing problem of transmitting resistance bacteria from food animals to man has led to the search for an alternative to the use of antibiotics. To this end, the response of broiler chickens administered various medicinal plant methanol extract as a replacement for antibiotics was investigated. The plant extracts encompass four available leaves; Gereinia kola (Bitter Kola), Alcornea cordifolia (Christmas bush), Pterocarpus santalinoides (Red scandal wood) and Chromolera Odorata (Hagony or Siam weed). The experimental diet was same for all the treatment groups since the methanol extract of the leaves were administered in their drinking water against synthetic antibiotics. 180 unsexed Ross strain broiler chickens were randomly assigned to these dietary treatments which had 30 birds each. The treatments were replicated thrice with 10 birds per replicate in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). Feed and water were provided ad libitum throughout the experiment which lasted for 56 days. Carcass characteristics and internal organ proportions were considered which differed significantly (p<0.05). Treatment 5 (Alcornea Cordifolia) had a significant reduction in abdominal fat when compared to the positive control group. The findings of this study conclude that the medicinal plant methanol extract has considerable potentials as component of broiler chickens'water. Alcornea cordifolia plant methanol extract can successfully be used to replace antibiotics for broiler production.

Abstract:
The cold chain logistics route of fresh product export is characterized by large quantity and complexity, which is prone to cause transportation risks of different degrees in the process of fresh product export transportation and affects the decision-making effect of the cold chain logistics route. Therefore, in order to improve the ability of cold chain logistics route planning and shorten the transportation time, an optimization method of fresh product export cold chain logistics route decision considering transportation risk was proposed. This paper analyzes the basic characteristics and classification of cold chain logistics by means of risk quantification and uses the K-nearest neighbor algorithm to predict the risk of traffic congestion, so as to shorten the transportation time. Ahp process is used to construct a risk factor judgment matrix and determine the index weight of risk factors, so as to reduce the error of path planning. A genetic algorithm is introduced to construct the optimal decision function of the cold chain logistics route of new product export and realize the optimization of cold chain logistics route decision of fresh product export. Experimental results show that the method presented in this paper can effectively improve the decision-making effect of cold chain logistics route and select the shortest and most smooth transportation path to complete logistics distribution. The decision-making accuracy of the route decision effect is 90%, and the transportation time is 31.45 min, which has certain feasibility and applicability.

Abstract:
The chain supermarket has become a major part of China’s retail industry, and the optimization of chain supermarkets’ distribution route is an important issue that needs to be considered for the distribution center, because for a chain supermarket it affects the logistics cost and the competition in the market directly. In this paper, analyzing the current distribution situation of chain supermarkets both at home and abroad and studying the quantum-inspired evolutionary algorithm (QEA), we set up the mathematical model of chain supermarkets’ distribution route and solve the optimized distribution route throughout QEA. At last, we take Hongqi Chain Supermarket in Chengdu as an example to perform the experiment and compare QEA with the genetic algorithm (GA) in the fields of the convergence, the optimal solution, the search ability, and so on. The experiment results show that the distribution route optimized by QEA behaves better than that by GA, and QEA has stronger global search ability for both a small-scale chain supermarket and a large-scale chain supermarket. Moreover, the success rate of QEA in searching routes is higher than that of GA.

Abstract:
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to introduce a methodology to identify sustainable supply chain key performance indicators (KPI) that can then be used for sustainability performance evaluation for suppliers. Design/methodology/approach – Initially the complexity of sustainable supply chain performance measurement is discussed. Then, a two-stage method utilizing neighborhood rough set theory to identify KPI and data envelopment analysis (DEA) to benchmark and evaluate relative performance using the KPI is completed. Additional analysis is performed to determine the sensitivity of the KPI set formation and performance results. Findings – The results show that KPI can be determined using neighborhood rough set, and DEA performance results provide insight into relative performance of suppliers. The supply chain sustainability performance results from both the neighborhood rough set and DEA can be quite sensitive parameters selected and sustainability KPI sets that were determined. Research limitations/implications – The data utilized in this study are illustrative and simulated. Only one model for the neighborhood rough set and DEA was utilized. Additional investigations using a variation of rough set and DEA models can be completed. Practical implications – This tool set is valuable for managers to help identify sustainable supply chain KPI (from among hundreds of potential measures) and evaluate sustainability performance of various units within supply chains, including supply chain partners, departments, projects and programs. Social implications – Sustainability incorporates many business, economic and social implications. The methods introduced in this paper can help organizations and their supply chains become more strategically and operationally sustainable. Originality/value – Few tools and techniques exist in the sustainable supply chain literature to help develop KPIs and evaluate sustainability performance of suppliers and the supply chain. This paper is one of the first that integrates neighborhood rough set and DEA to address this important sustainable supply chain performance measurement issue.

Abstract:
The wide application of cloud computing technology makes supply chain partner share information effectively and increase corporate profits. However, in cloud computing environment, the evaluation process of supply chain partner selection is dynamic and fuzzy, and its evaluation index is uncertain. To solve these problems, this paper proposes a new method combed with rough number, best-worst multicriteria decision-making method (BWM), and compromise ranking method (VIKOR). Firstly, Rough number is used to integrate data from different evaluation matrix. Secondly, rough number improves a new method, BWM, to get RBWM criteria weight methods. Thirdly, the rough numbers are introduced into VIKOR and combined with RBWM to evaluate and sort the supply chain partners. Finally, an example is given to demonstrate the rationality and feasibility of the method.

AbstractAn eulerian chain in a directed graph is a continuous directed route which traces every arc of the digraph exactly once. Such a route may be finite or infinite, and may have 0, 1 or 2 end vertices. For each kind of eulerian chain, there is a characterization of those diagraphs possessing such a route. In this survey paper we strealine these characterizations, and then synthesize them into a single description of all digraphs having some eulerian chain. Similar work has been done for eulerian chains in undirected graphs, so we are able to compare corresponding results for graphs and digraphs.

Abstract:
Vibrations of construction and road machinery components that occur during their operation are a harmful production factor for machine operators, therefore, their reduction can be considered a very urgent task. The main route of vibration transmission is through vibration isolation systems for the operator’s seat and cab. The easiest and most cost-effective way to isolate the operator from vibration is through his seat by reducing vibration. The simplest and most reliable vibration protection systems with one degree of freedom limited by vertical movements of the chair can be used for the chairs. Vibration protection mechanisms and systems with quasi-zero rigidity are considered promising. They provide constant static force over a certain range of movement of the object. The task of developing mathematical models describing vibration protection systems with quasi-zero rigidity is urgent. In the Matlab software package using the Simscape library for modeling physical elements, a simulation mathematical model of the vibration protection system of a chair with one degree of freedom has been developed. The base of the chair in the developed model performs harmonic sinusoidal movements. The output parameters of the developed mathematical model are the time dependences of the chair coordinates and accelerations. The blocks used in the model are described, the static force characteristics are given, given using the Hermite spline. The model includes a block of hard movement restrictions. An example of using the developed simulation mathematical model of the chair is given. The developed model makes it possible to specify both the dimensions of the quasi-zero stiffness section and the shape of the curves of the force static characteristics of the vibration protection system. It can be integrated into higher level models.

Abstract:
This paper introduces an extension of the well-known traveling purchaser problem in the literature by taking into account the procurement of perishable foods in cold chain logistics. The problem in which transportation operations are carried out based on the perishable product conditions is called the traveling purchaser problem in cold chain logistics (TPP-CCL). The TPP-CCL considers a set of perishable food demands to be purchased from a number of markets, where the foods have to be transported by a temperature-controlled vehicle. The aim of the problem is to find the best procurement and route plan for the purchaser that minimizes the total energy cost of the vehicle, damage cost of foods and purchasing cost. The problem is formulated as a nonlinear mixed-integer programming model and solved by using a two-phase solution procedure. In the first phase of the solution methodology, a rough solution is obtained through a solution construction method. Then the solution observed in the first phase is improved by using the GUROBI solver, where the solver is terminated at the end of a specific time limit. In the computational studies, the performance of the proposed solution methodology is analyzed on a benchmark problem set including different sized instances.

Abstract:
With global climate warming, the reduction of Arctic ice and the opening of shipping routes during the summer season, the Arctic route has gradually become an important choice in the field of supply chains as it connects Asia, Europe, and North America. It offers the advantages of reducing shipping time, lowering transportation costs, expanding trade opportunities, and diversifying supply chain routes. This article collected data from websites such as the Clarksons and the Shanghai Shipping Exchange to investigate the current number of voyages along the Arctic route and various factors that impact the cost of navigation. By comparing the navigation costs between the Arctic route and the traditional Suez Canal route, it was found that the Arctic region has higher voyage transportation costs compared to the Suez route, indicating that the Suez route still holds an economic advantage. However, choosing the Arctic route can shorten the delivery lead time and reduce certain supply chain costs.

Abstract:
Interest in feature extraction for Handwritten Character Recognition (HCR) has been growing due to numerous algorithms aimed at improving classification accuracy. This study introduces a metaheuristic approach utilizing the Honey Badger Algorithm (HBA) for feature extraction in HCR. The Freeman Chain Code (FCC) is employed for data representation. One challenge with using FCC to represent characters is that extraction results vary depending on the starting points, affecting the chain code's route length. To address this issue, a metaheuristic approach using HBA is proposed to identify the shortest route length and minimize computational time for HCR. The performance metrics of the HB-FCC extraction algorithm are route length and computation time. Experiments on the algorithm use chain code representations from the Center of Excellence for Document Analysis and Recognition (CEDAR) dataset, containing 126 uppercase letter characters. According to the results, the proposed HB-FCC method achieves a route length of 1880.28 and requires only 1.07 seconds to process the entre set of character images.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT Previously, we succeeded to produce the core structure of the host-selective ACR toxin (1) on brown leaf spot on rough lemon when the polyketide synthase ACRTS2 gene was heterologously expressed in Aspergillus oryzae (AO). To confirm the production of 1 in AO, the detection limit and suppressing decarboxylation were improved, and these efforts led us to conclude the direct production of 1 instead of its decarboxylation product. During this examination, minor ACR-toxin-related metabolites were found. Their structure determination enabled us to propose a decarboxylation mechanism and a novel branching route forming byproducts from the coupling of the dihydropyrone moiety of 1 with the acetaldehyde and kojic acid abundant in AO. The involvement of putative cyclase ACRTS3 in the chain release of linear polyketide was excluded by the coexpression analysis of ACRTS2 and ACRTS3. Taken together, we concluded that the production of 1 in AO is solely responsible for ACRTS2.

Abstract:
Sustainable development is one of the most important preconditions for preserving resources and balanced functioning of a complete supply chain in different areas. Taking into account the complexity of sustainable development and a supply chain, different decisions have to be made day-to-day, requiring the consideration of different parameters. One of the most important decisions in a sustainable supply chain is the selection of a sustainable supplier and, often the applied methodology is multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM). In this paper, a new hybrid MCDM model for evaluating and selecting suppliers in a sustainable supply chain for a construction company has been developed. The evaluation and selection of suppliers have been carried out on the basis of 21 criteria that belong to all aspects of sustainability. The determination of the weight values of criteria has been performed applying the full consistency method (FUCOM), while a new rough complex proportional assessment (COPRAS) method has been developed to evaluate the alternatives. The rough Dombi aggregator has been used for averaging in group decision-making while evaluating the significance of criteria and assessing the alternatives. The obtained results have been checked and confirmed using a sensitivity analysis that implies a four-phase procedure. In the first phase, the change of criteria weight was performed, while, in the second phase, rough additive ratio assessment (ARAS), rough weighted aggregated sum product assessment (WASPAS), rough simple additive weighting (SAW), and rough multi-attributive border approximation area comparison (MABAC) have been applied. The third phase involves changing the parameter ρ in the modeling of rough Dombi aggregator, and the fourth phase includes the calculation of Spearman’s correlation coefficient (SCC) that shows a high correlation of ranks.

Abstract:
We considered routing problems for plane graphs to solve control problems of cutting machines in the industry. According to the cutting plan, we form its homeomorphic image in the form of a plane graph G. We determine the appropriate type of route for the given graph: OE-route represents an ordered sequence of chains satisfying the requirement that the part of the route that is not passed does not intersect the interior of its passed part, AOE-chain represents OE-chain consecutive edges which are incident to vertex v and they are neighbours in the cyclic order O±(v), NOE-route represents the non-intersecting OE-route, PPOE-route represents the Pierce Point NOE-route with allowable pierce points that are start points of OE-chains forming this route. We analyse the solvability of the listed routing problems in graph G. We developed the polynomial algorithms for obtaining listed routes with the minimum number of covering paths and the minimum length of transitions between the ending of the current path and the beginning of the next path. The solutions proposed in the article can improve the quality of technological preparation of cutting processes in CAD/CAM systems.

Abstract:
With the rising of the supply chain in all areas, trust issues become more and more concern. An applied-information technology with trust risk evaluation method is presented. Trust risk rating index system is built after analyzing trust risks in the supply chain. The key indexes of trust risk indexes are selected based on rough set theory, and a simplified trust risk evaluation index system is constituted. The weight of each index is calculated by rough set theory. Supply chain trust risk is assessed based on the determined index system, index weight and advantages of the uncertain multiple attribute decision making methods, which provide the basis for trust of supply chain risk prevention.
