The aim of this Master's thesis is to find, describe and analyse factors influencing the audience demand for Czech ice hockey extraliga matches and on the basis of the observed facts to try to suggest conceivable measures to increase such demand. There are especially mathematical and statistical methods widely applied in the practical part of the thesis. Particularly, arithmetic averages, correlation analyses and various kinds of specific coefficients are used. Average attendances and significance of individual factors are evaluated using the method of comparison, namely its factual, temporal as well as spatial form. The main contribution of this thesis consists mainly in the current mapping of the extraleague club fans' opinions and attitudes through the implementation of the comprehensive on-line survey whose results are contained in individual paragraphs.

Cílem této práce bylo analyzovat prostředí extraligy ledního hokeje v oblasti péče o diváky. Pro splnění tohoto cíle bylo stanoveno několik dílčích úkolů. Teoretická část práce nejprve popisuje marketingový mix modifikovaný pro sportovní kluby. Dále práce popisuje teorii finančních systémů a její aplikaci na prostředí sportovních klubů. Teoretická část se dále věnuje teorii competitive balance a teorii poptávky a jejímu využití pro sportovní kluby. Praktická část práce sleduje tyto dílčí cíle: analyzovat návštěvnost ELH, analyzovat vyrovnanost ELH, aplikovat marketingový mix na hokejové kluby, provést dotazování zástupců jednotlivých klubů a provést hodnocení klubů ELH podle péče o diváka.

This paper uses data about 3,640 matches played in the seasons 2000/01-2009/10 to explain individual match attendance of the top Czech ice hockey competition -- the Extraliga. Some interesting results are that fans decide whether to attend based on the detailed information about the home team, but use just the easily observable information about the away team; that a match having no impact on the final season outcome is much less attended; that televising a match decreases attendances of all matches played on the same day, but there is no negative next-day effect; that both very good and very bad weather decreases attendance; and that if two home matches are played in a short time period, their attendance is lower with likely higher impact on the second match. Substitution of ice hockey with soccer is investigated on several different levels -- while ice hockey and soccer are definitely long-term substitutes, there are mixed results for same-day substitution. Modernization of ice hockey arenas is identified as the key factor behind the almost 20% attendance growth in the analyzed period. This paper also presents a new realistic method of modeling seasonal uncertainty based on Monte Carlo simulation that does not rely on ex post information.

This academic work is devoted to the examination of the relationship between geography and sport. Firstly, it presents the geography of sport as a subdiscipline in the system of geography. Afterwards it discusses the relationship between geography and sport in general in different environments and at different scale levels. After the general introduction, the work deals with sports attendance as a possible characteristics of the position of sport in the area. The analytical part examines the relationship between geography and sport on specific mechanisms in a particular environment. The research studies ice hockey in the Czechia. In the first part of the analysis, ice hockey is generally presented from the beginning to the present in the area, then the attendance of the highest domestic hockey league in the period not marked by significant changes in spatial administration (from 1993, when Czechoslovakia ceased to exist, or from 2000, when the self-governmental regions were established), until 2019, when the league under investigation was not affected by the coronavirus pandemic. The analyzed data come mostly from official internet sources. The position of sport in society is changing in time and space. Sport is creating the identity and social community. Title of dissertation: Selected factors of success of Czech goalkeepers' sports performance and the analysis of the goalkeeper's game activities in the basic part of the Tipsport extraliga ČSLH 2017/2018 Objectives of dissertation: To find out whether there is an association between the body height and the total percent success of Czech goalkeepers in Czech Hockey Extraliga. Another aim was to analyse the success of particular game techniques in the matches of the basic part of the competition. Methods: Comparison of the body height and the achievement of players by using the Pearson-co- correlation coefficient. The research part of this thesis was carried out through the method of indirect observation of 14 Tipsport extraliga matches. It is particularly a technique of goalkeeper's selected game activities and the analysis of their success. Results: According to the results of correlation it is obvious that there is no relationship between the body height and the percent success of the goalkeeper. Goalkeepers of the Czech extraliga use the game activity butterfly more than 90 percent while responding to the kicked hockey puck in every hockey match. The success of the following game activity and its technique (reverse V-H) is bellow the boundary of 90 percent.
