Abstract:
Entre as doenças que acometem o Sistema Nervoso Central, o Acidente Vascular Cerebral (AVC) é uma das mais prevalentes e de maior morbimortalidade. O estudo verificou o conhecimento dos enfermeiros sobre os fatores de risco, prevenção e prognóstico do AVC. Trata-se de um estudo descritivo, desenvolvido com 83 enfermeiros. Entre os participantes, 25,3% reconheceram todos os fatores de risco, 82,9% identificaram as ações preventivas e 49,3% reconheceram os possíveis prognósticos do AVC. Conclui-se que a maioria dos enfermeiros identificou as ações preventivas, apesar de poucos terem identificado todos os fatores de risco.Descritores: Acidente Vascular Cerebral, Enfermagem, Atenção Primária à Saúde.Stroke: the knowledge of nursesAmong the diseases affecting the central nervous system, the stroke is one of the most prevalent and highest morbimortality. The study assessed the nurse's knowledge about risk factors, prevention and prognosis of stroke. This is a descriptive study, developed with 83 nurses. El estudio evaluó los conocimientos de los enfermeros de los factores de riesgo, la prevención y el pronóstico del ACV. Este es un estudio descriptivo, realizado con 83 enfermeros. Entre los participantes, 25,3% reconocieron todos los factores de riesgo, el 82,9% identificaron las medidas de prevención y el 49,3% reconocieron los posibles pronósticos de lo ACV. Abstract:
La violència de gènere és un greu problema social que necessita una resposta immediata i, a més, un treball preventiu per a abordar-la. Tot i que actualment són molts els recursos i les campanyes destinades a la prevenció d’aquesta, els casos no disminueixen i cada vegada afecten persones més joves. En aquest article presentem un projecte d’innovació docent en el qual han participat tres centres d’educació infantil i primària i set investigadors/es de dues universitats catalanes i que ha pretès assessorar i implementar actuacions educatives avalades per la comunitat científica internacional amb el principal objectiu de contribuir a una socialització preventiva de la violència de gènere. D’aquesta manera, a través d’activitats destinades a l’alumnat d’educació infantil i primària així com també al col·lectiu de professorat i al de familiars, en tant que agents que intervenen en l’educació dels nens i nenes, s’ha obtingut un impacte rellevant. Els resultats han mostrat que la formació del professorat així com també la dels familiars té una forta repercussió en la socialització preventiva del nens/es i joves. D’altra banda, cal destacar que a més a més de l’adquisició d’eines i estratègies per a la prevenció de la violència de gènere, les activitats realitzades han permès a l’alumnat obtenir altres resultats vinculats a l’aprenentatge i a la millora de la convivència.

Los centros educativos constituyen espacios de encuentro donde las relaciones interpersonales juegan un papel central. Favorecer la convivencia entre sus miembros se convierte en una necesidad que es preciso abordar si queremos promover el bienestar personal y social de todos los implicados en el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje.En este sentido, trabajar la competencia emocional en los docentes de educación secundaria se convierte en una estrategia de prevención y desarrollo. Como estrategia de prevención, nuestra pretensión es dotar al profesorado de las habilidades necesarias para hacer frente a los desafíos de su práctica diaria, y prevenir el malestar, estrés y sentimientos de frustración que pueden aparecer ante las demandas y conflictos por parte de padres, alumnos, otros compañeros y equipo directivo. Como estrategia de desarrollo, entendemos que los profesores han de ser capaces de trasmitir y desarrollar la competencia emocional de aquellos alumnos con los que tienen ocasión de trabajar, favoreciendo así una educación integral y de calidad.

Abstract:
La obesidad es un problema de salud pública, que afecta recientemente a la población de menor edad, impactando en la salud y desarrollo psico-social del infante, por lo que la educación temprana orientada a fomentar los hábitos saludables representa un eje central en su prevención y control. El presente trabajo es un ejercicio de análisis y reflexión sobre la eficiencia de los programas multidisciplinarios y preventivos para controlar la obesidad, basados en la educación como eje central. Se realizó una revisión y análisis de estudios que abordan el problema de la obesidad como fenómeno social, y de estudios que evalúan la aplicación de programas multidisciplinarios basados en la educación para incidir en acciones integrales de prevención de la obesidad. La prevalencia de obesidad no ha disminuido pese a las estrategias implementadas por las instancias de salud. Los programas multidisciplinarios de intervención cuyo tema central es la concientización de los educandos sobre cómo contribuye la nutrición y la actividad física en el cuidado de su salud, pueden ser un medio eficiente para prevenir y disminuir la obesidad infantil, cuando se integra la educación en el ámbito escolar y familiar. “La salud es un derecho y bien tutelar del infante”, que puede asegurarse a través de la implementación de programas de intervención multidisciplinar, sustentados en los cuidados primarios con participación de la familia y la escuela.

Abstract:
Introducción: En la actualidad, y debido a su avanzada edad y/o con comorbilidad diabética y cardiovascular asociada, un buen porcentaje de pacientes en hemodiálisis tienen que ser dializados mediante un catéter venoso central tunelizado. Objetivo: Conocer la producción científica existente sobre la bacteriemia relacionada con el catéter venoso central tunelizado de hemodiálisis. Material y Método: Se ha realizado una revisión sistemática mediante una búsqueda en las bases de datos SCOPUS, PubMed y ScieLo. Se incluyeron artículos escritos en inglés y español. Resultados: Fueron revisados 28 artículos, entre los cuáles se incluían guías de práctica clínica, revisiones y estudios de investigación. Tras el análisis de los mismos, se evidenció que la bacteriemia relacionada con el catéter afecta a un número considerable de pacientes que portan un catéter venoso central tunelizado para hemodiálisis y se encontraron diferentes actitudes terapéuticas para abordarla. En cuanto a su prevención, se encontraron numerosas publicaciones sobre la efectividad de diferentes medidas farmacológicas, y aunque fueron menos las publicaciones encontradas acerca de la profilaxis no farmacológica, estas recalcaron la importancia del estricto cumplimiento de medidas de higiene y asepsia, como herramienta principal para prevenir su aparición y situaron a enfermería como elemento fundamental para cumplirlas. Conclusiones: Las medidas de higiene y asepsia constituyen la base de la prevención de la bacteriemia relacionada con el catéter, siendo la enfermería un factor clave para que estas se cumplan; y debido a que la mayor parte de la literatura se centra en las medidas farmacológicas, son necesarios más estudios que evidencien su importancia.

The diploma thesis is focused on the marketing strategy of QMI's Health prevention center. The aim of the study is to make a situation analysis, through its own research to assess consumer attitudes to health and health care, evaluate opportunities and threats arising from the marketing environment and to define on the basis of the results achieved for the development strategy of health prevention centers. The theoretical part deals with theoretical background of strategic marketing, its specifics in the health care, marketing environmental analysis, market and consumer decision-making motives. It describes the legislative framework and the importance of health prevention in public health care. The practical part presents the concept and mission of the QMI's Health prevention center. It deals with the survey of consumer attitudes, application of theoretical knowledge in situation analysis and attempts to explain the current strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats arising from the marketing environment. The main contribution of the thesis is a detailed situation analysis, application of knowledge gained from research and defining the marketing strategy for the development of Health prevention center.

El continuo accionar de la naturaleza en nuestro planeta y principalmente en nuestro medio nos crea la necesidad de tomar más y mejor el tema de la seguridad personal y colectiva, y como podemos enfrentarnos a situaciones de desastres, sean estos de origen natural o producidos por el mismo hombre. Estos desastres pueden causar pérdidas materiales o, en el peor de los casos, pérdidas de vidas humanas, y éste el principal punto a seguir para que generaciones futuras tomen conciencia del riesgo que toman muchas personas al ignorar las condiciones físicas del suelo para su uso. En la actualidad los esfuerzos que se realizan nos son los suficientes, pero son un gran avance para conseguir mejorías en nuestro sistema de atención de desastres, Bomberos, Defensa Civil y otras entidades que comienzan a crecer van fortaleciéndose lentamente, tomando como principal punto la capacitación de su personal, sin tener la infraestructura y el equipo necesario, pero contando con personal eficiente que responde a cualquier tipo de emergencia

Un Centro de Tratamiento y Prevención de Tuberculosis es aquel equipamiento arquitectónico que promueve cura y tratamiento de la enfermedad si como la capacitación para la población para evitar la propagación de la tuberculosis en Lima. Mediante el presente proyecto de tesis se presenta la propuesta del primer Centro especializado en el Tratamiento y Prevención de Tuberculosis, proyecto que nace de un previo análisis de la problemática y la fijación de objetivos, y del estudio del lugar donde este se emplazará, para lo que se buscaron referentes existentes a nivel mundial y nacional. Posteriormente, se procederá con el análisis técnico del lote, y con la programación arquitectónica del proyecto.
A Tuberculosis Treatment and Prevention Center is that architectural equipment that promotes cure and treatment of the disease and training for the population to prevent the spread of tuberculosis in Lima. Through this thesis project is presented the proposal of the first Center specialized in the Treatment and Prevention of Tuberculosis, a project that is born from a previous analysis of the problem and the setting of objectives, and the study of the place where it will be located, for that existing references were sought at a global and national level. Subsequently, we will proceed with the technical analysis of the lot, and with the architectural programming of the project

Abstract:
Se plantea un edificio de salud donde la prioridad es una arquitectura que influya de manera positiva en el comportamiento humano y que resuelva la función y las necesidades espaciales adecuadamente. El objetivo principal del proyecto es brindar bienestar al usuario, se diseña cuidadosamente cada espacio teniendo en cuenta el tiempo de permanencia de los pacientes. Por ejemplo, las salas de espera se resuelven como espacios que se prolongan al exterior mediante grandes ventanales en las fachadas y permiten su iluminación y contacto con el paisaje natural en los tiempos de espera. Finalmente, el centro de salud se integra al espacio urbano y genera espacios públicos para la población de Villa El Salvador.

Abstract:
El proyecto responde a la necesidad de centros especializados para personas con problemas físicos y mentales en el Perú. Estas personas además de lidiar con su enfermedad, también presentan problemas sociales al intentar reinsertarse. Así mismo muchos de estos pacientes no cuentan con la facilidad económica o de accesibilidad para poder acudir a un centro de rehabilitación y asistir constantemente a terapia, en especial, los pacientes que han sufrido de A.C.V. y los propensos a sufrir esta enfermedad. Por otro lado, el diseño de los centros de salud en nuestro país lo transforma en grandes bloques de concreto sin la arquitectura apropiada para las necesidades de estos usuarios, creando sensación de abandono y encierro en ellos sumado a los traumas ya generados por la secuela de su enfermedad, Por ello, este proyecto busca que la edificación se relacione con la naturaleza a través del diseño, aprovechando la radiación solar y la vegetación, usándolo como como terapias alternativas que reducirá el tiempo de rehabilitación del paciente además de las terapias tradicionales.
The project answer to the necessity of special centers for people with physical disabilities and mental illness in Peru. This people not only lead with their diseases but have social difficulties in get used to their environment. Besides, a lot of them don’t have the economic conditions or appropriate support to access to rehab centers and therapy, especially those who had strokes. On the other hand, the design of the hospitals in our country make them big blocks of concrete without the accurate architecture for the necessity of these customers, which produces the sense of abandonment and confinement on them, in addition to their trauma caused by their own disease. Therefore, this project tries to connect the building with the nature through the design, using the sunlight and the vegetation as alternate therapies that will reduce the time of rehab in the patient, in addition to the traditional therapy.

Abstract:
Introducción. Las bacteriemias relacionadas a catéteres venosos centrales (BRCVC) se destacan entre las infecciones asociadas a los cuidados de salud por su frecuencia y gravedad. La incidencia de BRCVC es de aproximadamente 5 por cada 1000 catéteres día, en unidades de cuidados críticos de países desarrollados. Se estima que en Estados Unidos un 35% de las muertes de pacientes ingresados en unidades de cuidados críticos y con bacteriemia asociada a dispositivo intravascular, serían directamente atribuibles a esta infección. Además de la morbimortalidad que supone para los pacientes, estudios de coste en España y resto de Europa, indican que por cada BRCVC se produce un gasto de entre 6.000 y 60.000 euros, debido fundamentalmente al aumento de los días de estancia. El Estudio de Evolución de la Prevalencia de Infecciones Nosocomiales en España (EPINE), señala que la prevalencia global de infecciones nosocomiales en España permanece en torno al 6% en los últimos quince años. En cuanto a las BRCVC, la proporción que representa entre el total de infecciones nosocomiales se ha venido incrementando a lo largo de los años, y ha pasado del 13,7% en 2011 al 16,1% en 2015. Existen recomendaciones de eficacia demostrada para la prevención y control de las BRCVC, pero estas recomendaciones no se llevan a cabo de forma eficaz, o incluso son desconocidas por el personal implicado en la colocación y mantenimiento de estos dispositivos. En recientes publicaciones, se demuestra que mediante la implementación de programas de vigilancia y educación del personal involucrado en la inserción y el cuidado de los catéteres intravasculares, se logra una importante disminución en la incidencia de infecciones. En algunos casos se han logrado tasas cercanas a 0 infecciones, y esta baja incidencia se mantiene hasta 18 meses después de iniciado el programa, siempre que se mantenga la vigilancia y la formación de los trabajadores sanitarios. Los objetivos de esta investigación fueron determinar la carga de enfermedad de las BRCVC, y evaluar la eficacia de un programa de prevención de BRCVC en un hospital de tercer nivel. Método. Globalmente, se trató de un estudio de intervención en la comunidad realizado durante los años 2009, 2010 y 2011. La intervención del programa consistió en la formación e información del personal sanitario mediante dos actividades: la organización de cursos y la distribución de trípticos informativos. Los cursos fueron impartidos a los trabajadores implicados en la inserción de CVC, con contenidos sobre las recomendaciones para realizar correctamente la técnica aséptica en estos procedimientos. Los trípticos fueron distribuidos en todo el hospital con una periodicidad semestral, donde se describieron las recomendaciones para la inserción y mantenimiento de los CVC, y se añadieron los datos del grado de cumplimiento de recomendaciones observado en los profesionales al insertar o manipular CVC, y los datos de la vigilancia de BRCVC para cada período de tiempo analizado. Para evaluar los resultados obtenidos con las medidas de intervención, se realizó una observación directa para medir el grado de cumplimiento de las recomendaciones para la inserción y mantenimiento de CVC, y una vigilancia de BRCVC. Resultados. Los grados de cumplimiento de recomendaciones para los años 2009, 2010 y 2011 fueron, respectivamente: - Durante procedimientos de inserción: Higiene de Manos: 87,1%; 99,2%; 100%; p<0,001 Desinfección de piel con clorhexidina: 35,7%; 42%; 65,4%; p<0,001 Uso de bata estéril: 75,0%; 90,8%; 96,9%; p<0,001 - Durante procedimientos de mantenimiento: Higiene de Manos: 51,1%; 66,7%; 72,1%; p=0,029 Desinfección de puertos con clorhexidina: 33,3%; 40,7%; 45,9%; p=0,19 Las densidades de incidencia de BRCVC (bacteriemias por cada 1000 días de catéter) y RR (IC 95%) fueron: - CVC de corta duración: 2009 5,75 2010 4,38 RR 0,76 (0,57-1,01) 2011 3,46 RR 0,60 (0,44-0,81) - CVC de larga duración: 2009 0,57 2010 0,32 RR 0,56 (0,37-0,86) 2011 0,35 RR 0,60 (0,39-0,90) Conclusiones. El estudio permitió calcular la carga de enfermedad de BRCVC para catéteres de corta y larga duración de un hospital de nivel terciario. El programa de prevención fue eficaz para aumentar los grados de cumplimiento de recomendaciones para la inserción y mantenimiento de CVC por parte del personal sanitario, y para disminuir la incidencia de BRCVC en catéteres de corta y larga duración.

El Proyecto de Tesis que se presenta a continuación tiene como objetivo el desarrollo de un espacio preventivo para adolescentes en riesgo ante violencia, drogadicción y pandillaje ; así como también para adolescentes que ya hayan cometido algún tipo de infracción menor. Propone ser parte del sistema de prevención que se viene insertando en el país en las últimas décadas. Este modelo enfatiza la misión de integración social de los adolescentes mediante medidas preventivas especializadas, breves, multidisciplinarias y que se ejecutan fuera del sistema penal ; para lo cual se propone este Centro de orientación para la prevención e integración social de adolescentes infractores. Inicialmente se analiza la situación actual de los centros preventivos en Lima y se comparan con proyectos similares en otros países, evaluando la manera en la que estos afrontan la problemática. A partir del análisis realizado y el estudio de diversos proyectos referenciales se explica cómo es que puede ayudar la arquitectura para generar espacios que realmente sirvan como herramienta de rehabilitación social y contribuya en el desarrollo del adolescente en riesgo, haciendo énfasis en los límites del proyecto. Por último se explican diversos aspectos relacionados con el proyecto como la elección del terreno y sus características, el programa, los usuarios, los criterios de diseño y finalmente el desarrollo arquitectónico.
The Thesis Project presented below has the objective of developing a preventive space for adolescents at risk of violence, drug addiction and gangs; as well as for teenagers who have already committed some type of minor infraction. Proposes to be part of the prevention system that has been inserted in the country in recent decades. This model emphasizes the mission of social integration of adolescents through specialized, brief, multidisciplinary preventive measures that are carried out outside the penal system; for which purpose this Orientation Center for the prevention and social integration of adolescent offenders is proposed. Initially, the current situation of the preventive centers in Lima is analyzed and compared with similar projects in other countries, evaluating the way in which they face the problem. Based on the analysis and the study of various reference projects, it is explained how architecture can help to generate spaces that really serve as a tool for social rehabilitation and contribute to the development of the adolescent at risk, emphasizing the limits of the project. Finally, various aspects related to the project are explained, such as the choice of land and its characteristics, the program, the users, the design criteria and finally the architectural development.

Las Infecciones de Transmisión Sexual y el SIDA constituyen actualmente un grave problema de Salud Pública para el país, pues se encuentra en el 4to. lugar de la morbimortalidad del Perú y se sabe que el 97% de los casos se dan por vía sexual y el gran facilitador de que se produzca la transmisión del VIH es la presencia de las ITS. Lo más preocupante es que la gran mayoría de los casos han sido transmitidos durante la adolescencia. El objetivo de la investigación es determinar la efectividad de un taller sobre prevención de ITS y SIDA en el nivel de conocimientos de los adolescentes del Centro de Atención Externa Gambeta, en el año 2006 y la hipótesis que se confirmó fue: “Cuando el personal de enfermería aplica un taller educativo sobre medidas preventivas para ITS y SIDA en adolescentes, los conocimientos en ellos se incrementan significativamente”. El método de investigación fue el cuasi-experimental, con intervención. La población estuvo conformada por 30 adolescentes. La técnica que se usó fue la encuesta y el instrumento un cuestionario semi–estructurado. Las conclusiones más importantes del estudio fueron: El taller sobre prevención de ITS-SIDA fue efectivo, ya que todos los alumnos incrementaron el nivel de conocimientos, de un nivel “Medio” a un nivel “Alto”. El nivel de conocimientos de los adolescentes sobre prevención de SIDA antes del taller fue “Bajo”, y después del taller se incrementó significativamente. El nivel de conocimientos de los adolescentes sobre formas de transmisión de ITS y SIDA se incrementó después del taller en un 20%, siendo en su gran mayoría “Alto”.
-- The Infections Transmitted bye Sex (ITS) and AIDS are a big public health problem for our country because they are in the fourth place of sick and death in Peru and the 97% of cases are transmitted by sex and the ITS make easy the way to get IHV. The most worriest is that the most of cases are get in the adolescent. The objective of this investigation is to determine the ITS and AIDS program’s effectiveness in teenagers knowledge level who assist to the External Attention Center “Gambeta”, in 2006, and the hypothesis was: “When the nurses make an educative program about ways to prevent ITS and AIDS in teenagers, they increase their knowledge.” The method was almost-experimental, with intervention. The population was conformed of 30 teenagers. The technic was the test, and the instrument was semi-structured quiz. The most important conclusions are: The program about ITS and AIDS prevention was effective because all the teenagers increase the level of their knowledge form “MEDIUM” level to “HIGH” level. The teenagers Knowledge level about ways to prevent AIDS before the program was “LOW” and after the program, it increase. The teenager knowledge level about ways to transmit ITS and AIDS increase in 20%after the program, and it become in “HIGH” level.

Abstract In this chapter we review the development of hospital infection prevention and control (IPC) since the nineteenth century and its increasingly important role in reducing the spread of antibiotic resistance (ABR). Excessive rates of hospital-acquired infection (HAI) fell dramatically, towards the end of the nineteenth century, because of improved hygiene and surgical antisepsis, but treatment remained rudimentary until effective antibiotics became widely available in the mid-twentieth century. While antibiotics had profound clinical benefits, their widespread appropriate and inappropriate use in humans and animals inevitably led to the emergence of antibiotic resistance (ABR). Within 50 years, this could no longer be offset by a reliable supply of new drugs, which slowed to a trickle in the 1980s. In hospitals, particularly, high rates of (often unnecessary) antibiotic use and ABR are exacerbated by person-to-person transmission of multi-drug resistant organisms (MDRO), which have, so far, largely resisted the introduction of antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) programs and repeated campaigns to improve infection prevention and control (IPC). Despite clear evidence of efficacy in research settings, both AMS and IPC programs are often ineffective, in practice, because of, inter alia, insufficient resourcing, poor implementation, lack of ongoing evaluation and failure to consult frontline staff. In this chapter we review reasons for the relatively low priority given to preventive programs despite the ethical obligation of healthcare organisations to protect current and future patients from preventable harm. The imminent threat of untreatable infections may provide an impetus for a shared organisational and professional commitment to promoting the cultural and behavioural changes needed to successfully reduce the burdens of ABR and drug-resistant HAIs.

Background: Early childhood caries can be prevent by promoting dental health behavior in school. The purpose of this study was to examine the determinants of caries preventive behavior in primary school children using Health Belief Model. Subjects and Method: This was a cross-sectional study. The study was conducted at 25 primary schools in Klaten, Central Java, in September 2019. A total sample of 200 primary school students was selected for this study randomly. The dependent variable was dental caries preventive behavior. The independent variables were perceived susceptibility, perceived seriousness, percevied benefit, and perceived barrier. The data were collected by questionnaire and analyzed by a multiple logistic regression. Results: Dental caries preventive behavior increased with perceived susceptibility (b= 0.88; 95% CI= 0.10 to 1.66; p= 0.026), perceived seriousness (b= 1.64; 95% CI= 0.53 to 2.75; p= 0.004), and perceived benefit (b= 1.05; 95% CI= 0.17 to 1.93; p= 0.190). Dental caries preventive behavior decreased with perceived barrier (b= -1.53; 95% CI= -2.81 to 0.26; p= 0.018). Conclusion: Dental caries preventive behavior increases with perceived susceptibility, perceived seriousness, and perceived benefit. Dental caries preventive behavior decreased with perceived barrier. Background: Tertiary hypertension prevention is an effort to prevent hypertensive patients from disabilities and complications, which lead to improve their quality of life. The biopsychosocial aspect influences individual behavior in maintaining blood pressure. This study aimed to analyze the biopsychosocial determinants of tertiary prevention behavior in hypertensive patients. Subjects and Method: A cross sectional study was conducted at 25 integrated health posts (posbindu) in Sragen, Central Java. A sample of 200 hypertensive patients was selected by stratified random sampling. The dependent variable was tertiary hypertension preventive behavior. The independent variables were attitude, observational learning, role model, imitation, vicarious learning, reinforcement, self-efficacy, self-regulation, and outcome expectation. The data were collected by questionnaire and analyzed by a multiple logistic regression. Results: Tertiary hypertension preventive behavior increased with observational learning (b= 1.83; 95% CI= 0.31 to 3.35; p= 0.018), role model (b= 1.95; 95% CI= 0.75 to 3.16; p= 0.001), imitation (b= 2.13; 95% CI= 0.89 to 3.38; p= 0.001), vicarious learning (b= 1.60; 95% CI= 0.23 to 2.96; p= 0.022), reinforcement (b= 2.86; 95% CI= 1.25 to 4.47; p<0.001), self-efficacy (b= 1.99; 95% CI= 0.73 to 3.25; p= 0.002), self-regulation (b= 1.39; 95% CI= 0.18 to 2.61; p= 0.024), outcome expectation (b= 2.37; 95% CI= 0.85 to 3.89; p= 0.002), and positive attitude (b= 1.76; 95% CI= 0.40 to 3.13; p=0.011). Conclusion: Tertiary hypertension preventive behavior increases with observational learning, role model, imitation, vicarious learning, reinforcement, self-efficacy, self-regulation, outcome expectation, and positive attitude. Este informe documenta las observaciones y conclusiones que surgieron del diálogo técnico, “Gestión penitenciaria en América Latina en tiempos de crisis sanitaria de COVID-19”. En noviembre de 2020, nueve meses después del brote pandémico, participaron en este diálogo las autoridades responsables para el manejo de esta emergencia en los sistemas penitenciarios en varios países de la región. Ellos identificaron cuáles eran los principales desafíos, experiencias y lecciones aprendidas para mejorar la gestión penitenciaria a futuro en los países de la región de cara a la nueva realidad, tomando en consideración los problemas estructurales que tienen los sistemas penitenciarios en la región y colocando en el centro los derechos de las personas privadas de libertad. Informaron que la pandemia del COVID-19 visibilizó y agravó los grandes desafíos que enfrentan las prisiones de América Latina y el Caribe, pero también permitió identificar lecciones aprendidas para acelerar mejoras en la gestión penitenciaria para enfrentar esta y futuras crisis sanitarias, como por ejemplo: la mejor gestión del personal penitenciario para prevenir y mitigar contagios, la consolidación de protocolos de bioseguridad, estrategias de comunicación dentro y fuera de los centros penitenciarios, incrementos en el uso de herramientas tecnológicas para mejorar el acceso a la justicia, medidas alternativas a la prisión, entre otras.
