Abstract:
Vocational High Schools are educational institution aiming to prepare the ready-to-employ graduates by prioritizing their skill and expertise according to their areas of expertise (Azri, Irwan, & Nurul, 2020; Mukhlason, Winanti, & Yundra, 2020). Vocational High School is expected to play an important role in holistic human development and community development Indonesia entirely and reduce the number of early school leaver (Slamet, 2016; Diwangkoro & Soenarto, 2020; Farrugia & Martina, 2021). While the growth of employment in the industrial sector is growing slowly, the graduates of Vocational High Schools are increasing but the rate of joblessness of the Vocational Highs Schools graduates has become a critical issue in Indonesia (Erlinawati, 2020; Wijaya & Utami, 2021; Hanifah & Suharyanto, 2021). As a result, these Vocational High Schools graduates are not accommodated in the industrial sector and they become job seekers or open unemployment (Dewi, 2017; Yunikawati, Prayitno, Purboyo, Istiqomah, & Puspasari, 2018; Azman, Ambiyar, Simatupang, Karudin, & Dakhi, 2020). The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that in August 2021, the majority of unemployed people in Indonesia were dominated to 11.13% or 9.77 million by the graduates from Vocational High Schools (BPS, 2021). Most of the Vocational High Schools graduates intend to work immediately, but are not employed in the industry or business sector. This is due to the increase of Vocational High Schools graduates who are mismatched by job opportunities. Keywords: Dual Certification; Vocational High School; Employability

Abstract:
Different types of high schools in Taiwan have the same physical education curriculum. In this cross-sectional study, we investigated the difference in the prevalence of metabolic syndrome between senior and vocational high school students. We retrospectively collected health check-up data from 81,076 first-year senior and 68,863 vocational high school students in Taipei City from 2011 to 2014, including their blood pressure, height, weight, waist circumference, fasting blood glucose, total cholesterol, triglyceride, and HDL-c levels. The prevalence of metabolic syndrome was determined using definitions from the Taiwan Pediatric Association (TPA), International Diabetes Federation (IDF), and de Ferranti et al. The prevalence of metabolic syndrome was 1.73% (senior and vocational high school students: 1.22% and 2.33%, respectively) using TPA criteria, 1.02% (0.69% and 1.40%, respectively) using IDF criteria, and 5.11% (3.92% and 6.51%, respectively) using de Ferranti et al. criteria. The most prevalent risk factors overall were increased blood pressure and central obesity. Given the significantly higher prevalence of metabolic syndrome in vocational school students regardless of the criteria, and that metabolic syndrome causes future adult health risks, the physical education curriculum and health education program in vocational schools should be strengthened to decrease the risk and prevalence of metabolic syndrome.

Abstract:
Creative teaching behavior (CTB) is an innovative and creative teaching approach that is relevant in facing the dynamics of vocational education, which continues to develop, especially to produce creative students. Many studies examine the important role of CTB. However, limited information still discusses how to improve CTB by involving important factors such as creative climate, school support, and creative teaching self-efficacy. This study involved 400 teachers from 25 vocational high schools in civil engineering in Central Java Province, and data analysis using the structural equation modelling (SEM) (Smart-PLS) method. The study results revealed that CTB was proven to be influenced positively and significantly by school support and creative teaching self-efficacy. Also, creative teaching self-efficacy partially mediates the effect of creative climate and school support on CTB. The results of this study provide important implications for vocational school teachers to develop creative teaching skills in schools. Building a creative culture in schools, proactive school support and increasing teacher self-confidence are essential steps in creating a dynamic and innovative learning environment in vocational schools.

<span lang="EN-US">Competition in the global era requires graduates from vocational schools to be more skilled in hard and soft skills to adapt to the industrial world. Adaptation of vocational education institutions to the industrial world is vital; thus, they can continuously update the skills of their graduate candidates. Hence, this research aims to describe the implementation of the Center of Excellence curriculum and project-based learning in a vocational high school as a form of school adaptation to the development of the industrial world in the 21st century. This research was included in a qualitative research design adopting a case study. The research respondents consisted of vocational high school residents in Central Java. Data was collected through interview techniques and observations and then analyzed interactively and descriptively. The research results then reported that the school was fully committed to implementing the Center of Excellence curriculum regarding teaching human resources and learning facilities. The project-based learning process also seemed to run optimally. Students could accept it, considering that project-based learning was implemented because it was an adaptive model to accommodate 21st century competencies. However, there is still room for improvement and optimization in order to effectively implement this operational curriculum and enhance students' ability to acquire 21st century skills.</span>

Abstract:
Based on the latest data from the Serang Regency Central Statistics Agency in 2022, the Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) of Vocational High School (SMK) graduates is still relatively high compared to graduates of other levels of education, namely 12.87%. Apart from that, from the results of observations, there are still many vocational school students who still need to be ready for work. This is because the industrial internship program has not been able to optimize students' work readiness, students' work motivation still needs to be visible, and students' communication skills still need to be improved for their readiness to enter the world of work. This research seeks to determine the influence of industrial internship, work motivation, and communication skills on vocational school students' work readiness. This research uses a quantitative approach to answer the research hypothesis, which asks whether industrial internship, work motivation, and communication skills are positively correlated with vocational school students' work readiness. This research used a questionnaire distributed to 180 students in seven vocational schools in Serang Regency. This research proved that industrial internship, work motivation, and communication skills significantly influence work readiness (7%). For the conclusions and limitations of existing research, this research provides several suggestions for improving vocational school students' work readiness by paying more attention to the variables of industrial internship, work motivation, and communication skills.

Abstract:
In an effort to maintain and improve the quality of Vocational High School (SMK) graduates and reduce misses from the demands of the industrial world and technological advances, the government has tried to implement various policies both in terms of quantity and quality. The activities of students in an effort to increase skill competence are through Field Work Practice (PKL) activities that involve the world of work directly. But in fact, according to nationwide data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), in February 2023, unemployment for vocational school graduates reached 9.6%, which is the largest of the overall levels of education in Indonesia. This literature review provides a summary of the results of the PKL program evaluation by applying the Context, Input, Process, Product (CIPP) evaluation model. The results of this study prove that the program is running in accordance with the objectives with good output. However, there needs to be careful preparation and seriousness from schools and learners.

Abstract:
This study aims to formulate an innovative business incubator model by optimizing the school cooperative’s role to enhance the entrepreneurial spirit of vocational high school students in Indonesia. The method used in this study was the research and development (R&D) method from Thiagarajan, Semmel, and Semmel (1974), namely the Four-D model (define, design, develop, and disseminate) to determine a business incubator model which is compatible with school cooperatives design. Data were collected by questionnaire and interviews of students and teachers in several vocational high schools located in Central Java, Indonesia. The research resulted in the innovation management of school cooperatives which is integrated into a new business incubator model which has successfully improved the knowledge, practical skills, and entrepreneurial spirit of students in observed schools. The model consists of three stages, including planning, implementation, and evaluation which implies that collaboration among school stakeholders is key in implementing this business incubator model in order to achieve the same goal; strengthening students’ entrepreneurial spirit. The model defined in this result could be implemented in other schools to be analyzed further in terms of its effectiveness.

Abstract:
Educational tracks create differential expectations of student ability, raising concerns that the negative stereotypes associated with lower tracks might threaten student performance. The authors test this concern by drawing on a field experiment enrolling 11,624 Chinese vocational high school students, half of whom were randomly primed about their tracks before taking technical skill and math exams. As in almost all countries, Chinese students are sorted between vocational and academic tracks, and vocational students are stereotyped as having poor academic abilities. Priming had no effect on technical skills and, contrary to hypotheses, modestly improved math performance. In exploring multiple interpretations, the authors highlight how vocational tracking may crystallize stereotypes but simultaneously diminishes stereotype threat by removing academic performance as a central measure of merit. Taken together, the study implies that reminding students about their vocational or academic identities is unlikely to further contribute to achievement gaps by educational track.

Islamic Religious Education in Indonesia is still facing various problems and challenges as well as criticism from multiple parties, both internal and external. Schools must have an existence in quality and have characteristics. Issues in the Muhammadiyah Delanggu Vocational School (SMK) Delanggu, Klaten, Central Java, Indonesia include problems of good quality infrastructure and output of graduates, matters of private educational institutions which are socially still considered number two after state education institutions, system problems two zoning paths and achievements. With this problem, the solution includes: always improving infrastructure by involving many foundations and stakeholders around the school by not merely standing by the government, making learning fun, adding to the religious curriculum that is typical of schools, teachers making inroads in learning, and evaluation in each activity. This study uses an interpretive paradigm through a qualitative approach, a type of case study. The research results of Islamic religious education teachers are said to be successful in educating those who can integrate the concepts in the Qur'an and Al-Hadith with the daily lives of the primary students at school and can also be applied daily outside the school, teachers are also required by professionals by understanding and using the teacher's code of ethics with the teacher's performance in his social life.

Abstract:
Previous English for Specific Purposes (ESP) studies have focused on examining relevant ELT learning materials within universities, with less attention given to vocational senior high schools. This study examined the relevance of ESP materials in an Indonesian vocational high school of pharmacy, as perceived by students. This narrative research in Central Java involved 30 twelfth-grade participants who shared their perspectives on genres, learning activities, and assessment through narrative frames and follow-up interviews. Thematic analysis revealed that many students found the ESP learning materials irrelevant to their specific needs within the pharmacy field. Discussions highlighted the students' desire for enhanced communicative competence to serve patients better, explain medicine usage, and comprehend medical prescriptions. The study suggests implementing communicative language teaching techniques to improve students' communicative competence and use of specialized vocabulary. Despite challenges with pronunciation and grammar, students demonstrated overall comprehension of the materials. In sum, this study offers valuable insights for curriculum designers and teachers in vocational senior high schools seeking to create more effective ESP learning materials.

Abstract:
In this study, a meta-analysis was conducted on a total of 19 papers in order to comprehensively identify and objectively verify the results of individual experimental studies that looked at the effects of project learning after applying project learning in vocational high schools. As a result, first, the overall average effect size of project learning application in vocational high schools was 1.392, indicating that the effect was very large. Subsequently, as a result of examining the effect size for each moderating variable, the effect size for the 3rd grade was the largest by grade. This is a different result from previous studies that the lower the grade, the greater the effect of project learning, and it was found that the specificity of vocational high schools that have practice classes mainly in the third year was applied. By operating class, the effect size of the 12th to 16th sessions was the largest, and by central subject, the architecture subject showed the largest size, and the convergence subject had the smallest effect size. As for the effect size examined by dependent variable, only 5 out of a total of 12 variables showed a significant effect size. The effect size of communication ability was the largest and the effect size of self-efficacy was the smallest. In relation to these results, it was suggested that the teacher's role as a learning facilitator is very important in order to maximize communication skills and improve students’ self-efficacy, and accordingly, teaching strategies are needed.
