Abstract:
This study aims to understand the concept of ecofeminism through the study of Laudato Si from a Catholic perspective. This study uses a qualitative approach by applying descriptive analysis methods. Data collection techniques were carried out through library research and field studies on the Bandung Diocese of thought case. The formal object of this research is Laudato Si, a Catholic perspective on the thought of the Diocese of Bandung, while the material object of this research is ecofeminism. The results of the research and discussion in this study indicate that ecofeminism social movements that juxtapose the relationship between women and nature seem to have space and are openly accepted by Catholic teachings. Laudato Si is reflected in the thought of the Diocese of Bandung, which understands as an invitation to care for Mother Earth to maintain the ecosystem as a shared house. This study concludes that ecofeminism is in harmony with Laudato Si in a Catholic perspective through the thought of the Diocese of Bandung, which asserts that nature is the mother who gives birth and cares for life. This is a shared responsibility in maintaining the sustainability of nature and the environment.

Abstract:
Abstract This paper draws attention to the neglected episode of a crisis that engulfed the Benin City Roman Catholic Station from 1951 to 1952. It examines how a disagreement between an Irish priest and an African catechist degenerated into a crisis that pitted the majority of the African laity against the Irish clergy. This crisis was not only reported in national newspapers and taken up by nationalist agitators, but also attracted the concern of Roman Catholics outside the diocese as well as the Vatican. This paper contends that the disagreement became a crisis because of the Irish clergy’s upholding of their policy of gradual incorporation of the African laity into participation in the administration of the diocese, and the African laity’s determination to pursue their aspirations of full and unhindered participation in the administration on their own terms. The crisis was also fueled by African nationalist ferment of the period, which prolonged the issue. The argument is supported with archival sources, newspaper reports and oral interviews with participants and members of the diocese.

Abstract. In this article, we would like to analyze the way the Romanian Greek-Catholic Seminary in Gherla was planned and organized. The need for an institution that elaborates a well-prepared priestly corps, capable of facing the challenges of the time, was permanently felt by the hierarchs of the newly formed Romanian Greek-Catholic Diocese. While confronted with great material difficulties, Ioan Alexi, the first bishop of the Diocese, felt the need to accept also some compromise solutions. Despite this, he continuously militated for the organization of a theological institute. His perseverance was fruitful, so that in 1858, the Greek-Catholic Theological Seminary of Gherla Diocese was founded. This institution was later reorganized by Bishop Ioan Vancea, under whose guidance functioning regulations were formulated.

Abstract:
The Catholic clergy in Podolia and landowners belonged to elites of the province. The social and cultural position of the Catholic clergy was not threatened even by the czar’s clerks and the Orthodox clergy until the November Uprising. The situation was changed by the policy of the Petersburg court after suppressing of the Uprising. They tried to destroy Catholic and Polish character of Eastern guberniyas which were attached to Russia as a result of the partitions of the Republic of Poland. Podolia was inhabited by 256 clergymen of Catholic all rites in 1830. In churches and chapels belonging to the diocese lived 162 priests (63,6%), and in cloisters 94 (36,4%). 137 priests belonged to the Kamienets diocese out of all priests who were connected with Latin churches and chapels, and 17 belonged to the presbytery of the uniate Lithuanian diocese. Most of priests who belonged to the Kamienets diocese were involved to the ministry (74 provosts, pastors, and long term administrators – 54%; 50 vicars – 36,5%). They mostly came from Podolias, from noble families. Most of them got general education and were prepared to priesthood there. They lived 55 years on average.

Abstract:
The Second Pastoral Consultation of the Diocese of Surabaya held on October 18th-20th 2019 declared the Pastoral Strategic Policy of the Diocese of Surabaya for 2020-2030, formulated in these words: “In the spirit of the Basic Direction, the Catholic Church of the Diocese of Surabaya matures lingkungan rooted parishes present in the middle of the society”. This article wants to know in what matters and how strong this Diocese of Surabaya’s Pastoral Strategic Policy is connected to the voices of the pastors of the universal Church, especially those echoed in the doctrine of the Second Vatican Council (1962-1965) and that of the subsequent period. It is hoped that such reflection brought a clearer vision and understanding regarding such an important policy, granted that it will lead the faithful people of the Catholic Church of the Diocese of Surabaya in their pilgrimage to God in this world for the next 10 years. By knowing its connectedness with the voices of the pastors of the universal Church, it is expected that the faithful people of the Diocese of Surabaya would be more aware of the voice of Jesus Christ, the Good Pastor, who himself leads his flock to the green pastures of love shared in faith and hope with peoples they enconter.

A study of the persistence of Catholic practices and traditions in the old counties of Cumberland and Westmorland highlights the great concern felt by Bishop Robinson of Carlisle (1598–1616) in regard to popish practices in his diocese at the end of Elizabeth’s reign and the beginning of that of James I. The incidence of such persistence in the Carlisle diocese, however, was slight in comparison with that of the Chester diocese in which lay the market town of Kendal in Westmorland. Here the continuance of Catholic practices was typified, not only by the persistent use of sites of old wayside crosses in funeral processions, but echoed in the townspeople’s equal determination to keep the long-established custom of the performance in their town of the Corpus Christi Play.

Abstract:
Abstract Neglected in the many studies of Dallas, Bishop Thomas K. Gorman and Catholic religious orders that staffed schools and churches in the Diocese of Dallas led the way in desegregation and achieved peaceful change ahead of secular institutions. Gorman and religious orders formulated, supported, and implemented desegregation policies without fanfare or publicity that might divide Catholics and arouse segregationist opposition from within and/or outside the Church's ranks. Black Catholics were far from quiescent and made important contributions to secular desegregation. In September 1955, two African American Catholics enrolled in Jesuit High, a boys’ school, making it the only desegregated school in Dallas. George Allen, the father of one of the boys, subsequently worked behind the scenes to negotiate desegregation of the city's buses and other public accommodations. Another African American lay Catholic, Clarence A. Laws, organized and led civil rights protests in the city as the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People's Southwest regional director. White sisters also contributed to racial change. Even before the US Supreme Court ruled public school segregation unconstitutional in Brown v. Board of Education in May 1954, the Sisters of St. Mary of Namur, without publicity, admitted African Americans to a white girls’ school, Our Lady of Victory, in Fort Worth, making it the first desegregated school in the city. However, residential segregation and white flight limited integration of Catholic schools and churches, and Catholic school desegregation largely involved the closure of black schools.

Abstract:
This paper evaluates the evangelisation opportunities in the historical development of the Catholic Diocese of Kakamega since 1978. The study adopted a historical research design. The study's target population was one million catholic faithful in the Catholic Diocese of Kakamega. A sample size of 384 catholic Christians was further deduced using the Krejcie and Morgan Table. Data collection tools used included questionnaires, interviews schedule, focus group discussions, observations, secondary sources, archival records, and internet materials. The respondents consent to be quoted in this work was given. Data obtained was qualitatively analyzed. The study unravelled the following opportunities: Education, health, human resource, rich documentation in the Catholic Church, stable hierarchy, rich scripture and long history, among others. These opportunities are important because they help the church to advance in her efforts of evangelisation. That is why this study employed the challenge and response theory as propounded by Arnold Toynbee. The area under study is a multi-ethnic with rich cultural diversity, the dances and music, that when blended well can enrich evangelisation and the liturgy.

Abstract:
It has been documented that religious institutions have influenced the development of education systems, health facilities, infrastructure such as roads, water provision structures and even building designs. This study sought to find out the influence of project implementation strategies by religious organisations on rural development in Kenya. The study focused on the Catholic Diocese of Kitui, in Kitui County and sought to document how project implementation strategies by Catholic Diocese of Kitui influence rural development in Kitui County of Kenya. The target population for this study was drawn out of a homogenous setting of Kitui County, Kitui East Subcounty, Nzambani and Chuluni wards and covered a total of 6939 households. The study covered a sample population of 364 out of the determined target population of 6939 households. The analysis of the data collected was done using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software. The study established that project implementation strategies by Catholic Diocese of Kitui influenced rural development in Kitui County as shown by a composite mean of 3.945. The Chi-Square test results of the association between project implementation strategies by religious organizations and rural development at Catholic Diocese of Kitui, Kitui County in Table 16, shows a Chi-Square value = 8.954, p = 0.003. The p-value is less than 0.05 and hence there is a statistically significant association between project implementation strategies and rural development at Catholic Diocese of Kitui. From the findings, the study found that if the independent variable, project implementation strategies, was held constant at zero, then the rural development in Kitui County will be 3.537. The study also found that a unit change in project implementation strategies changes would lead to a 0.843 unit change in rural development in Kitui County. The variable was significant since p-value=0.012<0.05. The study concluded that project implementation strategies had a great influence on rural development in Kitui County. The study recommends that there is need for capacity development to identify resource availability and build capacities in communities and have them assisted to undertake church based projects. The study recommends that there is need for capacity development to identify resource availability and build capacities in communities and have them assisted to undertake church based projects. To create more ownership of the projects, the study recommends that there should be involvement of user representatives from the initiation to the implementation phases of the projects.

Abstract:
In this paper we focus our attention on the changes that took place after the First World War in the life of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Alba Iulia led by Bishop Gusztáv Károly Mailáth. This diocese was the only new diocese in Romania to retain all the historical territory it had previously held in the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy; all the others having been folded after the Great War. The specific character of the Roman Catholic Church in Transylvania was the ethnic factor, so the main problem became how to integrate the eparchy among the Romanian ecclesiastical administrative units while preserving its religious and ethnic characteristics. We are witnessing the beginning of a "diplomatic game" between the Romanian Government, the Holy See and Bishop Mailáth, and in this context the stake was the preservation of confessional and ethnic identity in a new political framework. The culmination of the integration process was the signing of the Concordat in 1927, but the road to the completion of the inter-state document contains many interesting facts that help us understand the formation of the identity issue.

Catholic education is a Catholic school’s way of participating in the Church’s evangelizing mission through holistic formation and conversion accordant with Catholic faith and doctrines. This descriptive comparative-correlational study determined the quality of Catholic education among parochial schools relative to the Philippine Catholic Schools Standards (PCSS) domains: Catholic identity and mission, leadership and governance, learner development, learning environment, and operational vitality. The 252 school personnel and 36 administrators of 18 parochial schools in the Diocese of Kabankalan, Philippines, for the School Year 2020-2021, answered the standardized PCSS survey questionnaire. The results showed that parochial schools are excellent relative to the offering of quality Catholic education. The findings also showed no significant difference in the level of quality of Catholic education among parochial schools when respondents are grouped according to designation and length of service. In addition, the quality of Catholic education does not correlate with the school budget and size.

Abstract:
Different organisational structures of the Catholic Church in Slovenia were a reflection of the circumstances in the Christian community in the Central European region. Being a basic structure, a diocese has existed since the antique period. The diocese is a religious community with a centre in a large settlement (civitas). With the spread of Christianity into the rural areas and into the peasant environment, parishes began to come into existence. In historiography, the terms 'primitive parishes' began to be used to refer to the oldest parishes. They were characterised by their vastness. The number of primitive parishes increased in the 12th century. Due to remoteness of diocesan centres from the communities in rural areas and because of the inability of bishops to be in touch with the priests in rural areas, intermediate stages of organisation were coming into existence during centuries, i.e., archdeaconries and deaneries at some places. Some important changes occurred in the operation of the Catholic Church and in its organisation in Slovenia during the years after the Second World War. New parishes were established. The change of the state boundaries required changing the diocesan boundaries. Finally, the creation of the independent state of the Republic of Slovenia required a new setting up of the pastoral work and a new territorial organisation of dioceses. Abstract To become a Catholic religious leader must go through a special education known as seminary. Nowadays, a seminary especially Higher Seminary consisting of building facilities is needed to accommodate all the needs in producing priests among Indonesian Catholics, especially in the Sufragan Diocese of Bogor. The purpose of this research is to plan and design a Catholic seminary facility as a means of educating prospective priests in accordance with the activities and objectives. The Higher seminary complex is taken from the concept of “Symbolic and Architectural Philosophy”, which is a complex that can create or condition an environment that is capable of being an ideal vessel for the growth of faith by prospective priests, and all people regardless of differences. Abstract:
The diagram for the Kamieniec diocese published in 1831 presents the condition of the diocese in the fall of 1830, i.e. before the November Uprising. Describing the state of the diocese at that time shows us the situation before the tsarist repressions, which completely changed the situation of the Catholic Church of both rites in the Russian Empire. The previous articles presented the organizational status of the diocese, in the present clergy. The editors of schematics included priests incardinated in the diocese. They did not provide the names of the monks who managed the parishes run by the religious churches. At the end of 1830, 145 priests belonged to the chancel of the Kamieniec diocese, 133 of whom (91.7%) were directly involved in the ministry. The largest groups of the clergy were parish administrators (presbyteries and administrators), as well as vicars and chaplains. The first group consisted of 67 people (46.2% of all priests), and the second one – 51 (35.2% of all priests). Most of the clergy were under 50 years of age. They came from their diocese and were educated in secondary schools and seminaries in Podolia and the neighboring lands. With few exceptions, they belonged to the nobility and were Poles.

Abstract:
Baptism is a sacrament instituted and used by God Himself through Christ to purify, sanctify and to save human being out of the power of evil spirit. Baptism celebration maintaining in a proper and faithful manner will be brought about the fullness grace and favor of God to the Catholic faithful. The experiences of the Catholic faithful regarding God’s grace and favor should not be only responded by full faith but also be properly responded by full action to bring it to the entire nations and human races. The Catholic Church as a communion of Christ disciples has been sent and guided by the Holy Spirit to spread out such grace and favor of God to all nations. Pastoral assembly of Surabaya Diocese conducted in 2019 strongly articulated that Baptism is a mean exactly used by God Himself to channel His grace and salvation to the entire human beings. Hence, the Disciples of Christ have to fully respond it by full faith and opened hart. Christ Himself has sent His disciples to collectively spread out the grace, favor and salvation of God to all over the world. This good news has to be brought firstly to the inner circle of the Catholic families, neighbours, communities, parishes, and diocese then to the society in general.

The development and advancement of technology brings changes to the patterns and lifestyles of Young Catholics (OMK). This fact raises a great concern in this article, that most OMK are currently very busy with their work, study assignments, and social media, so that involvement in the activities of the parish becomes less effective and less targeted. The main issue in this article is to get a clear picture of how OMK is involved in the activities of the raid. This article wants to know the extent to which OMK is involved and involved in the pastoral work of the Church in the parishes of the Diocese of Ketapang. This article is qualitative research with descriptive analytical writing methods. The population used was Young Catholics in a number of parishes in the Diocese of Ketapang with a sample number of fifty-two active OMK. Instrument uses semistructured interviews to 12 OMK through WhatsApp social media. As a method of data collection, the authors disseminated questionnaires online to 40 OMK. The results showed that the involvement of OMK Keuskupan Ketapang in the activities of the church needs to be improved. Coaching to omk from the parish also needs to be designed and planned well. This study recommends the need for recollection, supply, retreat or similar activities that can grow and cultivate the faith of OMK. OMK is expected to be increasingly aware of self-identity as a young Catholic in the midst of the development of the times.

The presented text is an article describing the administrative structure of the Kamieniec diocese in the light of the schematics published for 1831. It is part of a project aimed at describing the state of the diocese in Russia before the November Uprising, which accelerated the actions of the Russian authorities to limit the activities of the Catholic Church. The text describes the boundaries of the diocese, deanery, parishes, male and female monasteries functioning in the diocese, and the churches functioning at that time. Following the decision of the authorities recognized by the Holy See, the diocese, which was reactivated in 1798, with the capital of Kamieniec Podolski, covered the area of the Podolia governorate. After the occupation of Bessarabia by Russia, its territory was subordinated to the authority of the bishop of Kamieniec (this was the case until the concordat concluded with the Holy See in 1847). In 1798 the diocese was divided into 8 deaneries, and until 1811 their number increased to 10. In the fall of 1830, there were 102 parishes in the diocese (97 in the Podolia province and 5 in Bessarabia). The diocesan clergy ran pastoral ministry and administered a benefice in 80 parishes, religious in 22. There were 29 monasteries and religious houses, 26 male orders and congregations and 3 female orders and congregations.

Abstract:
When the City of the Name of God of Macao marked 400 years of Portuguese administration in 1956, the Catholic community’s participation was marked by a wide range of activities that included liturgical celebrations, public processions and other devotions that involved large numbers of the lay faithful, members of confraternities, in addition to the clergy and religious of the enclave. Twenty-one years later the Diocese of Macao celebrated its own quatercentenary with celebrations of a decidedly more sober character and at the retrocession of Macao to Chinese control in December 1999, other than a few liturgical events and hierarchical presence at civic ceremonies, the Church was all but invisible. As the Diocese of Macao plans for its 450th anniversary, some of the former richness has begun to return. This paper outlines the long ebb tide and now-nascent flow of the tide of Catholic public piety in Macao over this period by reference to the Catholic religious processions of the City and seeks to offer tentative explanations grounded in the theological, ecclesial, political and cultural winds that have blown across the Pearl River Delta since the end of the Second World War.

The magnificent Catholic Demonstration … organised by our new Catholic Federation, has been a wonderful success … 40,000 or more from every part of the Diocese. Extraordinary enthusiasm.’ His joy was understandable, for the Catholic Federation had been founded only a few months before. The aim had been to start something altogether different from the many specific Catholic societies already in existence. It was to be a powerful Catholic organisation knit together in unity and solidarity, with the spirit of the Maccabees and the spirit of faith sending an electric current of living and vital Catholicity into the soul of every unit, and calling them to action against the growing hosts of enemies of God, Religion and Social Democracy.

Abstract:
This article analyzes importance of the Roman Catholic Church in Volhynia in the interwar period. The article reveals the process of formation of the Roman Catholic Church in Volhynia, and special attention is paid to the interwar period.Roman Catholic centres were in Volhynia from ancient times, and have become an integral part of its history. As the city was inhabited by many different nationalities and, consequently, many different religious denominations, the city managed to maintain peace and respect for religious freedom for each of the communities. However, during the reign of the Russian Empire in Volhynia, the situation became more complicated because the tsarist government did not want to support previous agreements with the Church. After the October coup and the war, vast territories of the Lutsk-Zhytomyr diocese were divided between Poland and Soviet Russia by a treaty signed in 1921 in Riga. As Lutsk was a part of the then Poland, in 1925 Pope Pius XI revived a separate diocese of Lutsk. On December 14, 1925, Bishop Adolf Petro Shelonzhek was appointed Bishop of Lutsk. In particular, the figure of Adolf Petro Shelonzhek deserves special attention. The article also analyzes the life of the future bishop. From the beginning of his ministry, the Lutsk Ordinary carried out active pastoral and organizational activities. One of the greatest achievements of Adolf Petro Shelonzhek was the convening of the first diocesan synod in 200 years, which took place in 1927.Particular importance is the description of his active work as a religious and political figure. Special attention is paid to his active pastoral work as Adolf Petro Shelonzhek was an outstanding figure in the life of the Lutsk diocese.

Abstract:
The Catholic school sector is under significant stress with declining enrollments and schools closing in virtually every diocese in the United States. This paper examines two value propositions for Catholic education. One is its role in providing foundational support for the development of a personal, chosen religious-spiritual identity across the life course. The second is the contribution of Catholic education to moral-character formation. Both propositions are relatively underdeveloped. The question of students’ personal spiritual identity is overshadowed by the understandable concern with the Catholic identity of schools. The question of moral-character formation is subsumed by catechesis and liturgy but is often remanded to the hidden curriculum. We argue that Catholic education can make a powerful claim on parents and students to the extent that explicit attention is drawn to religious-spiritual identity and moral-character formation. Several features of the Catholic school advantage with respect to school ethos can be recruited to this end. Directions for future research are noted.

Abstract:
The presented article describing the administrative structure of the Dioceses of Lutsk and Zhytomyr in the fall of 1831 is part of the text describing the state of these dioceses in the light of schematism published for 1832. The description of the Dioceses of Lutsk and Zhytomyr and the previously published description of the Kamieniec diocese are part of a project aimed at presenting the condition of the Latin rite in Russia before the outbreak of the November Uprising. The fall of the uprising accelerated the actions of the Russian authorities aimed at limiting the activities of the Catholic Church and subordinating it to the state. The time of relative freedom of the Church in the tsarist state ended then, as well as the time of unhampered pastoral activity conducted in Polish. The text describes the boundaries of both dioceses, the deanery, parishes, male and female monasteries operating in the diocese, and the churches that functioned at that time. The Lutsk diocese was reactivated in 1798 with the capital in Lutsk, and the diocese of Zhytomyr was established at that time, with the capital in Żhytomyr (connected by a personal union), following the decision of the authorities recognized by the Holy See, they covered the area of the Volyn governorate. In 1831, the Lutsk diocese was divided into ten deaneries, and the Zh?ytomyr diocese – into two. At that time, there were 120 parishes in both dioceses (113 in the Lutsk diocese and 17 in the Zhytomyr diocese). Abstract:
Popular Marian devotion played a vital role in the Catholic Church of Germany during the early modern period, especially during the “golden age of religious revival” experienced by post-Tridentine, baroque popular Catholicism. For example, at least ninety-seven local Marian shrines scattered throughout the diocese of Augsburg attracted pilgrims in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. The most famous was certainly Andechs, which drew half a million visitors each year in the seventeenth century from all over the Holy Roman Empire. In turn, Catholics from the diocese of Augsburg traveled beyond the bishopric's borders to major and minor shrines near and far, such as Altötting in Bavaria. Yet while major sites dedicated to the Virgin Mary such as Andechs and Altötting reflected theintensityof ongoing popular Marian devotions, thebreadthof the Virgin Mary's cultural significance is signaled by the large number of Marian shrines within the diocese itself, such as Kobel or Violau, which were mostly small, local affairs that attracted primarily nearby populations as pilgrims and supplicants.

Abstract:
The development of a native clergy in the Andes has long been called for but only recently achieved. Drawing from archival and ethnographic data, this article sets out how intercultural prejudice and discrimination have served to prevent the ordination of native Andeans. In the early colonial period, doubts about the authenticity of Andean conversion to Catholicism were rooted in mainstream Spanish skepticism of and disdain for Andean culture; in the modern day, these same prejudices continue, meaning it is only within the last fifty years that a native clergy has developed in the southern Andes, in the Peruvian diocese of Abancay, as the result of the concerted efforts of its second bishop. Today, Abancay boasts its first generation of native clergy, made up entirely of men who were born and raised in the diocese in which they now serve, and which promises a new, more empathetic institutional relationship between what it has historically meant to be Andean and what it has meant to be Catholic.
