Abstract:
Drug-induced fatal anaphylaxis is a common challenge in the last period because of the claim of medical malpractice in these cases. Medical malpractice emerges usually during drug administration by the healthcare provider because of the failure to recognize the allergic condition or failure to apply precautions regarding preventive measures or failure to apply appropriate resuscitation measures at a suitable time for saving the patient’s life. So, the current presentation of case reports aims to show the professional liability of healthcare providers during dealing with anaphylactic shock in two different situations. Therefore, the job description of every involved healthcare provider should be outlined based on the determination of the legal and professional rules to identify any healthcare provider who breached the duty. In addition, the pillars of professional liability should be recognized while dealing with these medical malpractice issues and different medical errors in cases of anaphylactic shock. Thus, the role of the forensic expert is an application of the mentioned rules to identify shortcomings aspects that lead to medical malpractice wherein medical errors may be caused by a shortage of medical knowledge, lack of care, workplace disorganization, or miscommunication among healthcare providers or with the patient besides an unsuitable workplace environment.

Abstract:
This project presents an attempt to do static, dynamic and progressive collapse analysis of multistory (G+10) residential building by ETABS (Extended 3D Analysis of Building Systems). ETABS is software that helps to anatomization and design of low and high-rise buildings and frame structures. In this project G+10 RC frame building is analysis statically (linear method) and dynamically (Response Spectrum method) along with Progressive Collapse analysis. All the members of the project are analyzed as per Indian codes IS 456:2000, IS 800:2007, and IS 1893:2002 (part1) code using this software. Here the result for Story stiffness, Base shear, Story Shear, Overturning moments, Maximum displacement, and Story Drift is compared between static and dynamic results for Zone2-(case1), Zone3-(case2), Zone4-(case3), Zone5-(case4) with medium soil type and for Progressive Collapse analysis GSA guidelines are followed. As per GSA guidelines three column removal cases for each case1, case2, case3, and case4 individually studied, namely Corner column removal, Exterior column removal and interior column removal at ground floor. For all three cases linear analysis study has been undertaken and DCR ratios are evaluated. Member having DCR ratio greater than 2 will going to fail for corresponding column removal case.

Full text
Abstract:
Based on the non-orthogonal multiple-relaxation time lattice Boltzmann method (MRT-LBM), natural convection in a porous square cavity with a pair of isothermally hot and cold blocks inside has been studied numerically in the current study. The influence of arrangements (Case1, Case2, Case3, Case4, Case5), spacing ratio (S) and size ratio (A) of the hot and cold sources and the Rayleigh number (Ra) on the heat exchange efficiency has been studied. The results show that different arrangements produce different heat transfer effects. Hot and cold blocks placed horizontally (Case1) and hot block located in the upper left corner while cold block located in the bottom right corner (Case4) have better heat exchange performances than other three cases since the flow directions of hot and cold fluids are closer to that of heat transfer. Then the influence of spacing between blocks and size of blocks on heat transfer rate is further studied in Case1 and Case4. The heat transfer performance is improved with A increasing. Additionally, the variation of heat transfer performance with spacing is related to the arrangement and size ratio of blocks. For Ra=104, 105 and 106, the best heat transfer characteristic can be obtained in Case1 when S=0.05 and A=0.20. For Ra=107, Case4 exhibits the best heat transfer effect when S=0.35 and A=0.20.

Full text
Abstract:
A lot of research is done in requirements engineering and testing but often the extensive literature is missing on defining good methods for linking functional requirements with test cases. Most of the delays occurring in the software development projects are because of incomplete or inaccurate functional requirements. The two main goals of our project are to achieve a successful software project by First, to design a template, which will merge functional requirements with test cases and second is to find the benefits of the aligning requirements to test cases. Changing, updating and tracing the requirements during the development of the project is not an easy task. The main reason for project failure is due to possibility of not fulfilling specified project requirements, so one way to solve this problem is to merge functional requirements with test cases. Thus removes the need of creating a separate requirements document, which will improve the traceability process between requirements and testing, thus leads to high quality and efficient development. The template helps us to drive a successful project by identifying the issues at an earlier stage of the development cycle.

Sartorio, Carolina. "PAP-Style Cases." J PHILOSOPHY INC, 2016. http://hdl.handle.net/10150/625953.

Full text
Abstract:
Over the years, two models of freedom have emerged as competitors: the alternative-possibilities model, which states that acting freely consists (at least partly) in being able to do otherwise, and, more recently, the actual-sequence model, which states that acting freely is exclusively a function of the actual sequence of events issuing in our behavior. In general, a natural strategy when trying to decide between two models of a certain concept is to look for examples that support one model and undermine the other. Frankfurt-style cases have been used for this kind of purpose, to challenge the alternative-possibilities view and support the actual-sequence view. In this paper I examine the prospects of the counterparts of Frankfurt-style cases: “PAP-style” cases, or cases that could be used to support the alternative-possibilities view and challenge the actual-sequence view. I argue that there are no successful PAP-style cases.

Full text
Abstract:
Many exceptional situations arise during the execution of an application. When developing dependable software, the first step is to foresee these exceptional situations and document how the system should deal with them. This thesis outlines an approach that extends use case based requirements elicitation with ideas from the exception handling world. After defining the actors and the goals they pursue when interacting with the system, our approach leads a developer to systematically investigate all exceptional situations arising in the environment or in the system that change or fail user goals. Means are defined for detecting the occurrence of all exceptional situations, and the exceptional interaction between the actors and the system necessary to recover from such situations is described in handler use cases. To conclude the requirements phase, an extended UML use case diagram summarizes the standard use cases, exceptions, handlers and their relationships.

Abstract:
Automated tests have become the most sought after method of testing in today’s market. Automating systems is generally found to be cheaper, faster and more reliable than manually operating them. For this reason many companies decide to make the switch over to this inexpensive yet efficient way of testing, only to realize that their costs have in fact gone up. The reasons for this could be poor planning, automating too much too soon or even automating unnecessary parts of the system. This study takes a closer look at the effects of automating tests used on interlocking systems. A tool has been developed as a part of the automated tests at Bombardier. The main function of the tool is to speed up the testing process by automatically generating test cases rather than having a worker write them down. The aim of this paper is to present this recently developed tool and show how its use significantly reduces testing time, costs and workload compared to the manual tests used today.

Shih, Jau-Yung. "Learning from cases : retrieving cases in CAD systems based on design criteria." Thesis, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 1991. http://hdl.handle.net/1721.1/70193.

Full text
Abstract:
Thesis (M.S.)--Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dept. of Architecture, 1991.
Includes bibliographical references (leaves 87-91).
Architects usually regard case studies as an important way to study architecture. Cases stand for existing answers to real problems and provide resources for free interpretation. This thesis investigates encoding design knowledge into architectural design projects through formal computation, and retrieval of cases through satisfying criteria provided by designers. Knowledge in architectural design has been distinguished into domain knowledge and design knowledge [Schmitt et al 90]. Domain knowledge investigates precise rules in design, and design knowledge deals with more flexible or personal rules in aesthetics or spatial arrangement. The Retrieving Cases Based on Design Criteria (RCBDC) program proposed in this thesis is a prototype for a CAD system with Case-Based Reasoning to deal with design knowledge. This thesis concentrates on the issues of retrieval within CAD systems using Case-Based Reasoning. Two kinds of retrieval have been developed: Critical Retrieval retrieves cases that meet the assigned single design criteria. Designers can filter among these retrieved cases by adding more and more design criteria. General Retrieval calculates all the possible permutations among repeated elements, and retrieves cases that have spatial relationships that are most similar to the current project.

Gololobov, Dmitry. "The Yukos case : the new dimension in money laundering cases." Thesis, Queen Mary, University of London, 2008. http://qmro.qmul.ac.uk/xmlui/handle/123456789/1789.

Full text
Abstract:
The Yukos case is known for its unprecedented character and complexity as a Russian corporate, tax and money laundering case. It continues to raise political and legal problems, both domestically and internationally, and has already become a symbol of the contemporary Russian political regime. This dissertation analyses in detail the criminal and corporate aspects of the case, and focuses mainly on the reasons for, and the development and implications of the embezzlement and money laundering case, which is known as the backbone of the Yukos Affair. The thesis is primarily based on a comparative analysis of the international academic findings, case law and the Russian data on the case. The dissertation also discusses in detail the political nature of the Yukos Affair, whilst attempting to show the substantive aspects of case. The findings of the dissertation highlight new types of risk that result from the politically motivated application of Russian anti money laundering legislation to the activities of the international corporate groups, which has been enacted on the basis of the internationally recognised principles. The paper also describes the nexus between the corporate tax evasion schemes, which have been widely used in Russia, and money laundering risks for corporations. Such a situation creates potentially unavoidable criminal risks for all corporate groups that have functioned in Russia over the recent decade. The thesis shows that the corporations, which invest directly and indirectly in the Russian economy, must be aware of the politically driven corporate criminal risks, which quite commonly are not reflected in the corporate disclosure data, and remain unnoticed by the investors. The paper is unique as reflects the personal experiences of the author as the longterm leading lawyer to the Yukos group and as the consultant on the Yukos-related cases.
