Abstract:
This study focuses on empirically investigating the effect of role stress of caregivers on job satisfaction and turnover intention. In order to achieve this research purpose, this study comprehensively reviewed domestic and foreign previous studies on role stress, job satisfaction, and turnover intention. hypotheses and research models were established. The results of this study are as follows. First, it was found that role stress had a negative (-) effect on job satisfaction. It can be seen that the higher the role stress, the lower the job satisfaction. Second, job satisfaction was found to have a negative (-) effect on turnover intention. It can be seen that the higher the job satisfaction, the lower the turnover intention. As a result of the study, it was found that the less role conflict, role ambiguity, and role overload, which are components of role stress, the higher the job satisfaction of caregivers, and the higher the job satisfaction, the lower the turnover intention. Therefore, it is more important than anything else to reduce the role stress of caregivers working in elderly medical welfare facilities and to increase job satisfaction of caregivers. To this end, it is necessary to develop a standard manual that can reduce role conflict, role ambiguity, and role overload of caregivers.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to analyze the job stress and burnout of long-term caregiver (LTC), and the relationship between them. A total of 250 valid questionnaires were collected from caregivers of LTC in Taichung, Taiwan. After statistical analysis, the results show that: 1. LTC feel the highest job stress is “having to make a decision immediately in case of emergency.” 2. LTC feel highest job burnout is the “when they felt tired after work every day”. 3. The LTC with junior college education level felt more pressure on “work and family balance” than those with other education levels. 4. In terms of emotional exhaustion, unmarried caregivers are higher than others. 5. LTC feel highest job stress is related to burnout. Based on the above results, this study not only proposes management implications, and but also suggestions for future research.

Abstract:
Stress has been a hot topic to discuss since several years ago. Stress triggered a negative behaviour from employees. In a long term, stress would decrease the whole organizational performance. This study aimed to understand the factor which led to employees’ stress within state-owned organization in Indonesia. All this time, each organization tried to improve their employees’ job satisfaction as it would commonly lead to a positive attitude from the employees. Employees’ organizational commitment was a key which led to organizational success. Work-family conflict had been manifested as a problem in the work-life as the employees could not balance their role as employees and as a family member. These variables were hypothesized to affect employees’ job stress level. The research was conducted at PT Pelabuhan Indonesia I Medan, one of major state-owned firm in Indonesia. The research was focused on married employees and had been working for at least 3 years. There were 72 employees across division selected in the research. The sample was proportionally taken from each division. Data was collected using self-administered questionnaires. The data was analysed with correlation and multiple regression analyses.Correlation analysis showed that stress had a strong positive relationship with work-family conflict. Stress moderately correlated with the employees’ organizational commitment level and satisfaction level. Multiple regression analysis showed that job satisfaction might reduce employees’ job stress but it was insignificant. Job stress was positively and significantly affectedby employees’ satisfaction and commitment. Employees’ organizational commitment negatively and significantly affected the stress level. These relationships explained 64% of job stress variance.

Abstract:
Introduction: Quality Assurance and Quality Control Division workers are challenged by various mental and physical pressures that might trigger job stress. Many factors contribute to job stress, one of them is the individual factor. This study’s purpose was to examine and analyze whether or not there was a relation between the individual characteristic factors and job stress at PT. PAL Indonesia (Quality Assurance and Quality Control Division). Methods: This research was a cross-sectional study. This research had a population of 49 people. The sample was counted using a simple random sampling method and 44 people were obtained as samples. This study’s independent variables were individual characteristics (working period, age, sex, and marital status) and job stress as the dependent variable. Data collection methods for this study were interviews with a questionnaire guide. The data analysis technique used was Fisher's Exact. Results: The result of Fisher Exact statistical test showed that there was not any relation between working period and job stress (p = 0.170), age and job stress (p = 0.456), gender and job stress (p = 0.290), marital status and job stress (p = 1,000). Conclusion: It can be concluded that individual characteristics has no significant relationship with job stress on employees of the Quality Assurance and Quality Control division of PT. PAL Indonesia (Persero). Keywords: individual characteristics, job stress, quality assurance and quality control division

Full text
Abstract:
Structural equation modeling was utilized in studying the voluntariness of the assumption of caregiving status. A model hypothesizing the stress flow that occurs when assuming a new life schema was presented. Utilizing three groups of caregiving populations, Home Caregivers, Intermediate Care Facility Aides, and Intensive Care Units and Emergency Room Nurses (N = 66), measures were administered to determine the voluntariness of the assumption of the role of caregiver. Path analysis and causal interpretation were utilized to determine outcomes. The involuntary assumption of the role of caretaker was shown to significantly affect depression and burnout rates negatively when perceived feelings of burden were high. When caretaker age was greater upon assumption of the role, self-esteem was low and family support was perceived to be lacking. When the role of caretaker is assumed on a voluntary basis and support from outside sources is perceived as helpful (i.e., social or financial support from the family), job stress and the subjective manageability of the symptoms were viewed as manageable. Implications for those assuming the role of caretaker with the elderly were examined, and recommendations for further training and interventions within the caretaker population were offered.

Abstract:
Alzheimer's Disease (AD) is among the most prevalent of the dementias and it is anticipated that much of the care required for the dependent patient will be provided in the home setting by a caregiver. The purpose of this study was to identify the importance of needs related to caregiving and the level of satisfaction of those needs related to the caregivers of Alzheimer's victims. The theoretical framework for this study is Dorthea Orem's "Self-Care Deficit Theory."The sample was 18 caregivers who attended one of three Alzheimer's Support Group meetings held in three central Indiana cities. Human subjects rights were protected. The Home Caregiver Needs Survey (HCNS), Hileman, 1990, was used to identify the information, household, patient psychological needs of the and care needs, personal and caregivers of Alzheimer's patients and to determine if these needs are being adequately met. Findings included: (a) the caregivers perceived the need for information, patient care, personal, spiritual, psychological need to be somewhat important to important; teach, assist and support caregivers throughout the and (b) satisfaction of the needs indicated that the caregivers were somewhat satisfied to satisfied with the needs presented. Implications call for: (a) Nursing intervention to caregiving experience. (b) Home health care agencies and senior citizens action groups to lobby for support and programs to assist caregivers.

Abstract:
Personality characteristics of spousal and adult children and active potential caregivers of persons with Alzheimer's Disease were studied in order to better predict caregiver burden and aspects of well-being. Contrary to prediction, no differences were found between spouse and adult children active caregivers on measures of well-being. Additionally, adult children potential caregivers indicated feeling less control over their lives than spouse potential caregivers. When social desirability was controlled, active caregivers reported greater fluctuations in affect than did potential caregivers. As predicted, personality characteristics of individuals were found to have the biggest role in determining which individuals experience stress or burden.

This study attempted to provide a glimpse into the working conditions of Indonesian caregivers in Taiwan. It employed the structure of a survey research methodology to empirically test the relationships among three sets of variables: job stress, job satisfaction and on-job sense of coherence.Data was collected from 306 female Indonesian caregivers across Taiwan in one-on-one interview settings. Two significant canonical correlations of medium strength were found. The first canonical correlation was found to be the positive association between the employer’s support and the caregiver’s ability to cope with work individually, whereas the second canonical correlation was found to be the positive association between the fast-paced repetitive workload and a desire for professional recognition. Sense of coherence significantly moderated the relationship between job stress and job satisfaction in that the strength of such an association was much stronger for the higher sense of coherence group than for its lower counterpart. The implications are discussed in terms of the current working conditions in Taiwan.

Abstract:

The aims of this study were to explore job situations and the stresses on home-care foreign workers in southern Taiwan. The study subjects were 54 Indonesian home-care workers employed by families with long-term care patients. The long-term care patients were recruited from two nursing Home Health Care Agencies, hospital-based: one is a regional hospital and the other a medical center in the Tainan area. The information, including social demographic characteristics, job situation and stress, were measured with a self-developed structured questionnaire and Karasek’s Job Content Questionnaire (JCQ), respectively. The content-validity and expert validity were used to improve the instrument validity. Data collection was handled by well-trained home visitors, and included: frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation. First, the factor associated with job stress was examined by Chi-square test. The result shows that the mean number of work-hours per day of Indonesia workers was nearly 16 hours: 92% workers take care of the patients every midnight and 96% workers were usually loaded with extra housework duty. Only 37% of the workers felt they had enough sleeping time. The daily duties among 90% of the workers in regard to patient care included: medication, feeding, body cleaning, excrement disposal, and body massage. The four kinds of job stress, high-stress, low stress, active type and passive type were categorized from JCQ as: 29.6%, 24.1%, 22.2%, and 24.1%, respectively. The job stress related to higher mental demand included: sleeping time restrictions, care duties required at midnight, extra work in taking care of the other elders and kids. In addition, job stress was related to little control of work conditions, including poor verbalization in communication, pressure generated by the family’s economic responsibility; extra work load related to family affairs and taking care of other elders and kids. We hope the study results will provide relevant professionals with effective strategies for helping the Indonesian home-care worker to relieve their job stress and improve the quality of health and care of these foreign home-care workers. We recommend that future research focus on developing strategies to appropriately arrange the daily care and to effectively relieve their job stress.

Abstract:
Abstract This book chapter dicsusses the data, methodological strategies, and findings, and the final section concludes with a discussion of key policy implications and directions for future research regarding climate change, livelihoods, and domestic violence in Indonesia. This study argues that climate shocks in Indonesia elevate the incidence of domestic violence via their impact on agriculture and agrarian livelihoods. Those relying on agriculture as a primary income source in Indonesia-approximately 41% of the population=suffer when climatic stress diminishes earnings through job loss and reduced crop yields. The impact can reduce food security, especially for subsistence farmers, but also for the broader population when scarcity elevates local food prices. Food already consumes 70% of household budgets for half the population, with rice comprising the largest share-over 25% of total household expenditures for the poorest quintile. Thus, even minor reductions in yields or inflation in local rice markets can have dire effects. These impacts are anticipated to exacerbate social and psychological pressures-stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, substance abuse-commonly associated with domestic and intimate partner violence, which in turn should increase its incidence within affected regions. This study uses data from the Global SPEI database and the NVMS to model the relationship between climate change and domestic violence in Indonesia. It finds that positive and negative deviations from long-term climate averages, when occurring in December-the core month of the Indonesian rice-planting season-increase the incidence of domestic violence in the following year. This relationship likely reflects the negative impact of climate shocks on agricultural sectors and livelihoods, an outcome which aggravates the emotional and psychological preconditions for domestic violence and abuse, disproportionately diminishes women's bargaining power in the household, and reduces women's ability to escape abusive situations. These effects are especially prominent in areas with higher levels of poverty, further illustrating the economic dimension of the causal process.

Abstract:
This chapter examines various laws that may affect cancer caregivers. Informal caregivers, whether family or friends, often face emotional and financial challenges when taking on caregiving responsibilities for their loved ones. Common concerns may include job security and the financial implications of time off, as well as family conflicts regarding caregiving decisions. As a result, caregivers may experience an increase in stress and obstacles that can interfere with their ability to carry out caregiving responsibilities. This chapter reviews the laws that may be of interest to informal cancer caregivers, including legal protections for caregivers who may need to take time off from work and possible avenues for compensation. The chapter also explores the role that caregivers play in healthcare and other decision-making and the importance of advance directives for cancer patients.

Abstract:
In Module 1, parents learn the theoretical foundations for the program. This is a time to build rapport, learn more about the child’s specific problems, identify treatment goals, and instill hope. Parents learn about two foundational models in Module 1: the ABC model of child behavior and the transactional model of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and families. The difficulties that children with ADHD experience can contribute to parent stress and/or negative reactions to their child. Parents may feel frustrated, stressed, worried, and/or sad about their child’s behavior. Some parents may blame themselves or feel they’re not doing a good job. On the other hand, the degree to which a parent is responsive and sensitive can help or hinder temperamentally at-risk infants and young children in terms of the later development of ADHD-related problems. Teaching parents effective ways to respond to their child can have important implications for the child’s ongoing adjustment.
