Full textWe studied the correlative systems in the history of the french language from the middle ages up to the classical epoch. Our study though based on historical backgrounds, it also includes many theoretical analysis to explain the idea of "correlation" and to identify the structure of all the syntaxes. This study permitted to discover the changes which took place between 11 and 17 century. It shows also an intelligent use of a sentence must be made when correlating a proposition with another. It clearly shows also that the middle age authors excessively used the word correlation and this has frequently different meaning from its modern usage

Full textThis dissertation has as its main objective to reflect about the problems and perspectives on the lexical teaching and learning in French as foreign language (FLE). With this in mind, we search to understand how the lexical content was treated during the didactic history of French as a foreign language and how the lexical learning procedures happen (with special attention to those procedures related to the cognitive psychology theories and to the memory constitution) for, then, analyze the FLE didactic materials available to the big public in a way to understand how these different materials are thought. We will give special attention to the Dis-moi dix mots (2014-2015) materials, which shows the importance of an emotional approach in the acquisition of new words in foreign languages. Therefore, we have felt the need to better understand the relations constructed between the student and the foreign language he learns. In this perspective, we have interviewed some foreign language speakers with the intention to identify the possible factors that have contributed to the acquisition of new words. This work was developed on the main hypothesis that even with the rehabilitation of the lexical teaching and learning theories (mainly by the works written by Robert Galisson after the eighties) and with the knowledge that it is common-sense between the foreign language teachers that the acquisition of new words is directly connected with the greater or lesser capacity of oral and written comprehension and production showed by the foreign language students still today the lexical study is given little importance and does not constitute a goal for the guided teaching. The lexical study in French as a foreign language still lacks a balanced teaching and learning methodology capable of promoting the development of a lexical competence by the means of proper semantic knowledge (recognized in the discourses and its sociocultural dimensions) and linguistic knowledge (mainly related to the morphological and phonetical structures). After the proposed analyses, we concluded this dissertation by identifying some important elements for the optimization of lexical teaching and learning in the French as a foreign language context, having in mind the scarcity of time available during classes for developing this learning aspect and its importance for the progressive growth of the lexical competence in French as a foreign language students.
Stincone, Clarissa. "L'œuvre lexicographique d'un pionnier des Lumières : Henri Basnage de Beauval." Electronic Thesis or Diss., Paris 3, 2023. http://www.theses.fr/2023PA030039.
Full textThis thesis focuses on the Dictionnaire universel of 1701. The Dictionnaire universel was compiled by Antoine Furetière in 1690 and revised by Henri Basnage de Beauval in 1701. Basnage's edition evolves from Furetière's in several respects. In addition to increasing the number of entries and enriching the existing entries with more precise content, Basnage introduces a number of lexicographical details that Furetière had not taken into account. These include writers’ quotations, usage labels containing the lexicographer's judgements on the frequency of words and the axes of linguistic variation, grammatical elements such as verbal inflections and syntactic constructions, indications concerning spelling and pronunciation, and discussions of language experts. The result is a descriptive and encyclopaedic work which at the same time helps the reader to decode the texts, while guiding his or her linguistic choices in the encoding phase. In addition to highlighting the orthographic innovations in relation to Furetière's work, we examine both the macrostructure and the microstructure of the work. As far as the macrostructure is concerned, the analysis of domain designations gives an idea of the specialised lexicons to which Basnage, after Furetière, gives importance. As for the microstructure, the study of two of the most significant elements of the revision, masterfully framed in a refined architecture, namely the quotations and the usage labels, reveals the author's pedagogical and sociolinguistic intentions. As far as the lexicon is concerned, the analysis of the pictorial field and of the part of the grammar devoted to the parts of speech shows the use of certain sectorial and linguistic sources. The study of Basnage's Dictionnaire universel highlights not only the often unresolved questions the lexicographer was confronted with, but also the dynamics and actors of the French and European cultural scene of the 17th century. More specifically, it invites to look at the reference works of the time, on which the dictionary is based. This thesis is rooted in a project to digitise the "Basnage", which has gradually been extended to the works upstream (the "Furetière") and downstream (the "Trévoux"), thus providing a basis for much future research
