Abstract:
A study of Mario Camerini’s Ma non è una cosa seria (But It’s Nothing Serious [1936]), a film based on Luigi Pirandello’s eponymous 1918 play and typical of the 1930s Italian romantic comedy genre, elucidates the transformations that a literary conception undergoes when adapted for the screen, especially as those reflect the historical context of the film’s making. The challenge for the filmmaker when working on a literary adaptation for popular consumption is to identify the cinematic strategies most suitable to render a psychologically and philosophically nuanced discourse, such as Pirandello’s, appealing to a mass audience in search of diversion. Camerini’s film also exemplifies that unique moment in Italian culture when the Fascist government took decisive measures to strengthen the film industry, promoting the expansion of popular genres in the style of classical Hollywood cinema. Camerini, therefore, works on three fronts: to convey literariness, to apply a sophisticated system of popular filmic representation, and to sustain, if subtly, some Fascist cultural ideals. A reading of the 1918 play with respect to Pirandello’s theory of umorismo questions the seriousness of the legal status of marriage, which in Pirandellian terms we may describe as an ideal construct or “fiction.” While this notion informs also the film’s fundamental thematic layer, Camerini modifies parts of the plot and deftly applies the techniques of classical cinema to convey Pirandellian humour specifically through cinematic means, placing emphasis on the identity of the male protagonist, which here takes the form of a visually vibrant array of diverse identity constructs. At the same time, through a graceful coordination of camera work and mise-en-scène, Camerini communicates the Fascist ideal of Italy as a modern and affluent nation but also one that preserves its traditional values.

Abstract:
In his film The Wedding Director (2006), Marco Bellocchio expresses his view of the ‘Italian difference’ that demarcates this national tradition from others with the refrain ‘In Italy the dead rule.’ This adage is repeated throughout his film and provides the motivation behind it. For Bellocchio, the dead in question belong primarily, though not solely, to the Italian parochial heritage exemplified by Alessandro Manzoni’s The Betrothed (1840), and in particular by Mario Camerini’s film adaptation of the same novel (1941). In The Wedding Director, Bellocchio enacts yet another, albeit eclectic, adaptation of these palimpsests, desecrating them and the values they supposedly stand for. Crowned by a happy ending, The Wedding Director surpasses its targets, advocating for their visual and conceptual inadequacy. This essay analyzes Bellocchio’s film using a theoretical approach that I see articulated in two critical texts and four creative instances. Firstly, I analyze The Wedding Director in light of the concepts that Gilles Deleuze used for Carmelo Bene’s adaptations of classic works; secondly, through Richard Neer’s 2007 reflections on Jean-Luc Godard’s Histoire(s) du cinéma. My analyses result in a dual interpretation of Bellocchio’s film. I argue that in The Wedding Director Bellocchio enters into conversation with and implements the ideas of the intellectuals and artists mentioned above. He sets off from the conclusion of Federico Fellini’s 8 1/2. Nevertheless, The Wedding Director is also marred by ambiguities that, although perhaps unavoidable, detract from his accomplishments. Those ambivalences involve the issue of gender relations, which – as Bellocchio himself declares – are at the core of his concerns in The Wedding Director. I argue that on the one hand Bellocchio’s film is an empowering Deleuzian or Godardian adaptation of Manzoni’s source text. On the other, it may also be construed as professing an opportunistic, if not downright cynical, view of gender relations. While the film presents the audience with a principled Deleuzian becoming-minority as a becoming-woman, it nonetheless declines the responsibility of distinguishing victim from perpetrator. By leaving this issue an open question for the audience to decide, the film renders the question ultimately insoluble. The goals that Bellocchio professes and the diagnosis he offers in The Wedding Director are valuable and deserve credit. Without question, the film is a stunning cinematographic feat. However, a self-indulgent streak undercuts the viewer’s satisfaction. Unless we surpass irony (as the film attempts), we, regardless of our gender, will hardly be free from the hold of the dead, be they Italian or of any other nationality.

Abstract:
Virility was central to Italian fascist ideology and yet the operas composed and performed in Italy during the 1930s systematically subvert the virility of their heroes both dramatically and musically, revealing a more fraught relationship with fascist ideology than has been suggested until now. A comparison between operas by Gian Francesco Malipiero, Ottorino Respighi, Pietro Mascagni, Ildebrando Pizzetti, and Alfredo Casella on the one hand and films by Alessandro Blasetti, Mario Camerini, and Carmine Gallone on the other, all produced in Italy during the mid-1930s, shows that the absence of male protagonists embodying fascist ideals of virility is confined to opera. I suggest that the failure of these operas to present virile male protagonists partly stems from a confrontation between opera and film. Indeed, the emergence of sound films and cinema’s privileged position within the Fascist regime forced opera to redefine itself as an art form in relationship to film.

Abstract:
Since the 50s in France and in Italy and the 70s in Anglo-Saxon countries, the definitions of neorealism are given through the prisms of the aesthetic, of technique, of politics and of history. It is important here to bring the latter to the fore through the perspective of sound. Indeed, it seems that as neorealists in the 40s would more often get out of studios to shoot the pictures, they are quite as likely to go back to them to record the sound that goes along with them. The analysis of the work by directors responsible for the birth, the extension, the peak and the alleged “death” of the cinema movement is at the heart of this study which aims at including this less studied aspect. Roberto Rossellini, Luchino Visconti, Vittorio De Sica and Cesare Zavattini are the main figures that are included in this work. However, observing the early stages and the legacy of neorealism seems mandatory given the importance of sound. The pioneer movies by Mario Camerini for instance are produced in the 30s, an era during which sound technologies have evolved. Likewise, successors of the movement such as Michelangelo Antonioni and Pier Paolo Pasolini, were shooting their feature films as new possibilities of live sound recording were making their appearance, namely thanks to the democratization of magnetic tapes. By bringing together the different technological contexts and the aesthetic analyses produced thanks to theoretic and historical supports, the definitions of Italian neorealism may be broadened while at the same time demonstrating how postsynchronization plays a vital role in it

Abstract:
Urbanmorphology is the evolutionary process where urban centers experience growth or decline due to series of changes and events or changes leading to events. This thesis came about due to an event that has a big impact on an urban environment, a military base on a large swath of land was closed and the property became available for development. Closed military bases provide us with opportunities to accelerate urbanmorphology, to simulate the organic evolution of an urban center and to explore urban and architectural ideas that, otherwise, are very difficult to test. The results could be used as models for adaptation in other, less expansive and more restrictive applications. This opportunity allows us to address todayâ s constituencies using todayâ s technology, attempt to define our era and hopefully help in defining the future exactly as the past helped in defining ours.

Abstract:

The purpose of this research is to propose a teaching resource for learning Spanish as a foreign language in the interactionist way. It is intended for a schooled context in which the structural program of teaching a foreign language is well established. With the interactionist model of learning, language serves as an instrument to interact socially with certain discursive capacity in exchanges of ideas and to collectively build learning and communicative strategies. In order to find the factors for effective language acquisition in the inner world of the students, this investigation carried out an analysis of the needs of students. The result revealed that, the learning experiences and collaborative strategies in language classes prevail over the accumulation of knowledge. In view of these premises, it is proved that success in teaching is obtained when the volitional resources of students are at the forefront of the process. Therefore, this study designed teaching materials focused on learning the target language in communicative interaction and, based on the motivations of each learner. This involves the flexible nature of the proposed materials and adaptability to the wide variety of learning situations. In the same way, the effective implementation of learning strategies is emphasized, in order to increase the efficiency and performances of a spanish language learner.

Kapala Cameron, 1884 is widespread throughout the Neotropical region, except for Chile and a disjunct species is found in Central Africa and Madagascar. The need for a review of the Kapala species was observed from their original descriptions, which are extremely succinct, resulting in many misidentifications. The vast majority of descriptions mention coloration, which is extremely variable; the presence of two long spines, flabellate antennas in males and mesoscuto high and convex. These characteristics are common to all species making identification of their species almost impossible. Despite this, the greatest difficulty found within the group is its high intraspecific variation, but at the same time highly conserved. This is the first attempt to revise known species, to describe new taxa, and to establish a baseline for genus taxonomy. In addition, a new phylogenetic proposal for Kapala is provided. In Chapter I, based on the examination of the species-type and complementary material, we redescribe the type species of the genus and establish the limits of valid species; four synonyms were performed, K. atrata (Walker, 1862) n. syn. and K. surgens (Walker, 1862) n. syn. was synonimized with K. flabellata (Fabricius, 1804), K. striaticeps (Cameron, 1913) n. syn. was synonymized with K. inexagens (Walker, 1862) and K. sulcifacies (Cameron, 1904) n. syn. was synonymized with K. romandii (GuérinMeneville, 1845); three lectotypes were designated: K. cynipsea (Walker, 1862) pres. desig., K.inexagens(Walker, 1862) pres. desig. and K. terminalis (Ashmead, 1892) pres. desig., and seven species had males associated with females. Seven new species are described: K. confusa n. sp., K. corcovata n. sp., K. genistriata n. sp., K. gracilispina n. sp., K. haplospinosa n. sp., K. jalisca n. sp. e K. spinaepplanata, and an identification key for all species is provided. In Chapter II, a phylogenetic study based on morphological and molecular data was performed with the objective of testing Kapala monophyly and the relationships among its species. For this purpose, 61 characters related to external morphology were analyzed. For the molecular analyzes, parts of five gene regions were amplified: 18S, 28S-D2, 28S-D3-D5, COI-nj and COII. As a result, it was verified in all morphological and molecular analyzes that Kapala is paraphyletic, divided into three species complexes, which in turn are divided by groups of different genera. In chapter III, the iridicolor species complex was reviewed, as well as a molecular phylogeny based on 5 genes, 3 nuclear and 2 ribosomal genes. Six species were recognized within the iridicolor complex, including K. iridicolor described by Cameron (1904) and five new species: K. cavicornis n. sp., K. ceciliae n. sp., K. ipa n. sp., K. longicornis n. sp. and K. parairidicolor n. sp. In addition, a diagnosis of the K. iridicolor complex is provided, as well as an identification key for the species. In chapter IV, a review of the furcata species complex and a molecular phylogeny was performed, with three new species being recognized: K. deltalis n. sp., K. parafurcata n. sp. And K. quasimodo n. sp. In addition, a diagnosis for the furcata complex is provided, as well as a key identification for its species. In Chapter V, as a basis in morphological and molecular phylogeny, two new genera are described for the family Eucharitidae, Ecarinata n. gen. and Torquata n. gen. A revised and updated key is provided for the Neotropical genera of Eucharitidae.

Abstract:
The representations of the ideal town: CosmopolisIn 1548, under the Florentine lordship of the Medici, Charles V gave Cosimo I de 'Medici the task of defending the territories of Elba and the commercial traffic of the Tyrrhenian Sea. The Duke, who strongly believed in the potential of the island and wanted to transform it into the center of Florentine rule over the Tyrrhenian, decided to fortify the ancient city of Ferraia, the current Portoferraio. A real jewel of military town planning that took the name of Cosmopolis was born by the architect Giovanni Battista Bellucci and by the engineer Giovanni Camerini. Thanks to its natural conformation, the gulf of Portoferraio protected on one side a strip of land that closes the port like a spiral, and on the other hand protected by two rocky headlands overlooking the sea, was extremely strategic and suitable for defense. Fort Stella and Fort Falcone were built in the upper part of the promontory and the Linguella tower, near the dock, all connected by a bastion wall. Later the defense was further strengthened by walls and ramparts also on the land front side according to the project of the architect Bernardo Buontalenti, transforming the city into an impregnable fortress, as well as a safe naval base. The study of urban representations of the city testifies to how the foundation of Cosmopolis for the Medici duchy was an event of extraordinary value, symbol of the strength of the Duke and his expansive abilities, symbol of an ideal city not only conceived and designed in contemporary treatises, but actually made.

Abstract:
The northeastern Cameron Hills comprise a Cretaceous bedrock upland, rising >550 m above the regional boreal plains. It was inundated by the Laurentide Ice Sheet and includes much of a prominent 60 by 20 km southwest-oriented mega-scale glacial lineation field, formed in thick till. Subsequent ice flow on northeast Cameron Hills occurred north to south, and a series of lobate and ice-thrust moraines suggest glacial surging. Rotational bedrock slumps cover the eastern and northern flanks of Cameron Hills, and extensive alluvial fan deposits draining from these slopes blanket the surrounding topography. The Cameron River formed as a glacial spillway, draining southwest across the upland before turning north and draining into Tathlina Lake. An expansive raised delta and glaciolacustrine sediment cover extending up to ~295 m above sea level, south of Tathlina Lake, records impoundment of an ice-marginal lake between the northeastward-retreating Laurentide Ice Sheet and Cameron Hills.

Abstract:
Review question / Objective: The aim is to review the clinical benefits of mindful moving techniques for persons with multiple sclerosis. Condition being studied: Multiple sclerosis. Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic autoimmune disease affecting the central nervous system (Gholamzad et al., 2019; Oh, Vidal-Jordana, & Montalban, 2018). It has shown to be increasing since 2013, and as of 2020 the estimated number of people with MS is 2.8 million worldwide (Walton et al., 2020). Due accumulation of relapses or gradual progression, disability from MS is worsening over time (Cameron & Nilsagard, 2018), which results in common symptoms like pain, imbalance, weakness, motor disorders, fatigue, depression, and more (Cameron & Nilsagard, 2018; Guicciardi et al., 2019).
