Abstract:
La phylogénie du genre Ananas et de ses apparentés a été étudiée sur la base de la diversité de l'ADN chloroplastique. Le polymorphisme de restriction de huit fragments d'ADN chloroplastique a été analysé sur un large échantillon de 91 accessions représentant les sept espèces du genre Ananas. Vingt accessions appartenant à sept autres genres de la sous-famille des Bromelioideae, dont Pseudananas considéré très proche d'Ananas, une Tillandsoideae et deux Pitcairnioideae représentant les deux autres sous-familles des Bromeliaceae complètent l'échantillon. La restriction par 18 endonucléases des huit fragments amplifiés a produit 255 fragments variables et mis en évidence 35 haplotypes différents. L'indice de Sokal et Michener a été utilisé pour le calcul des dissimilarités analysées par la méthode du « neighbor joining ». La reconstruction phylogénétique a été tentée par l'application du principe de parsimonie. Les analyses phénétiques et cladistiques donnent des résultats concordants. La précédence du genre Bromelia dans la sous-famille des Bromelioideae est confirmée. Les genres Ananas et Pseudananas forment un groupe monophylétique dans lequel trois sous-groupes sont mis en évidence. Deux d'entre eux correspondent à des unités géographiques cohérentes : l'un, restreint aux bassins du Rio Negro et de l'Orénoque, comprend la majorité des accessions d' Ananas parguazensis ; l'autre, au sud du continent Sud-américain, joint le tétraploïde Pseudananas sagenarius et le diploïde Ananas fritzmuelleri. Le troisième et le plus important sous-groupe comprend des accessions des cinq autres espèces, quelques accessions d' Ananas parguazensis et quelques accessions de phénotype intermédiaire non classées. Il présente la distribution géographique la plus large dont des zones de recouvrement avec les deux sous-groupes précédents. L'espèce sauvage Ananas ananassoides montre la variation la plus élevée et partage des haplotypes avec les trois espèces cultivées. La comparaison des données obtenues dans cette étude et des résultats obtenus précédemment à l'aide de marqueurs à transmission bi-parentale met en évidence l'existence de flux de génes, fréquents dans ce sous-groupe et plus rares avec les deux premiers. Un scénario d'évolution basé sur l'hypothèse des refuges est proposé pour expliquer la structure et la distribution de la diversité. Abstract:
L’évolution côtière est complexe, notamment par la migration de la ligne de rivage et l’apparition successive de zones d’érosion ou d’accumulation. Les suivis quantitatifs des systèmes côtiers sont largement utilisés afin de comprendre leurs évolutions temporelle et spatiale. Plusieurs méthodes d’acquisition topographiques ont été utilisées (GNSS RTK, LiDAR aéroporté et LiDAR terrestre statique ou mobile) où chaque méthode présente des avantages et des inconvénients lors de suivis d’environnements côtiers. L’objectif de cet article est de quantifier la précision d’un système LiDAR mobile (SLM) terrestre et d’évaluer s’il peut répondre aux principaux défis des levés topographiques en milieu côtier qui consistent à réaliser des levés à une haute résolution temporelle, à moindre coût, tout en assurant une bonne précision altimétrique et une bonne résolution spatiale. Les résultats montrent que la résolution spatiale est centimétrique et que la précision altimétrique est de 0,039 m (RMS calculé sur 124 points de contrôle). La haute précision altimétrique et la haute résolution spatiale permettent de maximiser la précision des calculs de volume sédimentaire et ainsi diminuer les coûts associés à l’erreur de calcul, notamment lors de projets de recharge sédimentaire de plage. Cela permet aussi d’assurer le positionnement exact de limites marégraphiques et géomorphologiques. En comparaison à des profils topographiques obtenus par méthodes clas siques, la forte densité des nuages de points observés avec un SLM permet de cartographier des formes morphologiques de faible amplitude diminuant ainsi l’erreur due à l’interpolation.

Abstract. L'estimation de la ressource en eau souterraine dans le Moyen-Atlas est investiguée à partir des débits mesurés dans l'oued Sebou à la station d'Azzaba, sur la période 1959–2015. Pour cela presqu'une centaine de phases de tarissement a été individualisé pour construire des courbes maîtresses de tarissement à partir desquelles le calcul des volumes des nappes est possible. Il est calculé mensuellement à partir du débit modal dont nous posons l'hypothèse qu'il représente la limite entre ruissellement et alimentation uniquement par les nappes. Les calculs donnent un volume de la réserve régulatrice moyen de 54 hm3, mais extrêmement variable à l'échelle interannuelle et intra-annuelle. Ces résultats démontrent la faible inertie des aquifères du Moyen Atlas et soulignent la vulnérabilité du secteur agricole vis-à-vis de cette ressource même lors de courte période de sécheresse. The estimate of the groundwater resource in the Middle Atlas is investigated from the runoff measured in the Sebou wadi at the Azzaba station, over the period 1959–2015. Almost a hundred recession curves have been individualized to build the master recession curves from which the calculation of the volumes of groundwater is possible. It was calculated at a monthly scale from the modal flow, which we assume is the limit between runoff and flow supply only by the aquifers. The results indicated a volume of the average regulatory reserve of 54 hm3, but extremely variable on an inter-annual and intra-annual scale. These results demonstrate the low inertia of the Middle Atlas aquifers and underline the vulnerability of the agricultural sector to this resource even during short periods of drought.

Abstract:
Le Site Expérimental Hydrogéologique de Poitiers (SEH) a été le lieu d’implantation de deux profils de résistivité électrique, l’un de 47m et l’autre de 23m. Six acquisitions de résistivités apparentes ont été réalisées entre le 18 juillet 2023 et le 17 novembre 2023 afin de calculer les différences de résistivités avec un profil sec et d’obtenir la variation de teneur en eau du sol. Parallèlement, l’installation de différents capteurs sur une station micro-météorologique à 2 mètres de hauteur a permis l’obtention de données hydrologiques (pluviométrie, teneur en eau du sol) et la réalisation de calculs d’évapotranspiration. Après 4 mois de suivi des mesures et le calcul des différences de résistivités, une cohérence entre les données météorologiques et la géophysique est établie et les premiers résultats sont encourageants. Ils permettent d’envisager leur utilisation dans un modèle hydro-géophysique dynamique en time-lapse pour étudier le bilan hydrologique sur le SEH.

La Base de Données pour les Observatoires en Hydrologie (BDOH) est un outil de bancarisation qui permet de combiner les mesures de débit, de matières en suspension (MES) et de contaminants particulaires issues d'un même réseau de stations pour calculer des chroniques de flux instantanés et cumulés. Cette application est utilisée dans le cadre de l'Observatoire des Sédiments du Rhône (OSR) pour estimer les flux de MES et de contaminants associés (Hg, PCB,...) en transit dans le Rhône et ses principaux affluents. Cependant, avant le calcul de ces chroniques, les données mères lacunaires doivent être reconstituées. Un test de sensibilité a été mené afin d'évaluer l'impact de différentes méthodes d'estimation des chroniques de concentrations en MES et en Hg particulaire sur les calculs de flux instantanés et cumulés dans le Rhône aux deux stations principales de l'OSR (Jons et Arles). Les résultats montrent que, quelle que soit la méthode d'estimation utilisée, les flux annuels de MES et de Hg particulaire ne diffèrent pas plus de 5 %. A l'échelle mensuelle, en revanche, les différentes méthodes génèrent des variabilités plus élevées (26-51 %). En perspective, ces premiers résultats seront complétés par l'évaluation des incertitudes quantitatives sur les calculs de flux particulaires.

Abstract:
Les patients atteints de cancer de la thyroïde et qui sont traités à l’iode radioactif sont une source potentielle d’exposition aux rayonnements chez leur entourage. Cette étude a porté sur 82 cas de cancers différenciés de la thyroïde traités par chirurgie complète, qui ont reçu, chacun 3,7 GBq d’iode 131 et ont été hospitalisés pendant en moyenne 72 h. Nous avons estimé par le calcul, les doses délivrées par ces patients selon différentes situations imaginées de la vie quotidienne, au cas où ils ne respecteraient pas les périodes de restriction recommandées par la CIPR. Le calcul se basait sur la mesure des débits de dose des patients, 15 min après la prise du radionucléide et au moment de quitter l’hôpital. Les doses cumulées par les proches étaient en moyenne de 802,42 μSv pour des durées de contact entre 3 et 5 jours sans restriction. Par ailleurs, nos résultats ont montré que les périodes de restriction de contact avec les proches, telles qu’elles sont préconisées par la CIPR pour les débits à la sortie, supérieures à 10 μSv / h, semblent trop longues et gagneraient à être réduites pour le confort des patients et celui de leurs proches.

Cet article présente un ensemble de résultats obtenus par télédétection radar satellitaire sur le site test Chamonix-Mont Blanc. L'objectif est d'illustrer le potentiel et les limitations de l'imagerie SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) pour l'observation des glaciers de montagne en zone tempérée. Après avoir rappelé certaines spécificités de ces glaciers qui conditionnent l'exploitation des données SAR, trois types de mesures sont étudiés : i/ le calcul de champs de déformation par interférométrie différentielle (D-InSAR) avec des données ERS Tandem dont les couples à un jour permettaient de mettre en œuvre cette technique en dehors de la période estivale ; ii/ le calcul de champs de déformation bidimensionnels par corrélation d'amplitude avec des données haute résolution TerraSAR-X (TSX) et la reconstruction du déplacement tridimensionnel à partir de couples acquis sur des orbites ascendantes et descendantes ; iii/ le calcul de la topographie à partir de couples TanDEM-X (TDX) en évaluant les incertitudes liées à la pénétration radar dans la neige et la glace. Enfin, nous illustrons les premiers résultats obtenus avec les données des satellites Sentinel-1 A/B, de plus faible résolution spatiale mais dont la répétitivité à 6 jours et la gratuité ouvrent de nouvelles perspectives. Ces travaux montrent à la fois le fort potentiel de l'imagerie SAR pour observer la dynamique et les variations de volume des glaciers tout en soulignant les facteurs favorables ou limitant pour une exploitation régulière des données issues des satellites radar lancés depuis les années 90.

RésuméNous présentons dans cet article un modèle à générations imbriquées avec capital humain qui permet de rendre compte de la diversité des systèmes publics de retraite par répartition. Notamment, ce modèle intègre la possibilité que les droits à pension d’une personne soient calculés soit de manière forfaitaire soit en fonction de l’historique de ses salaires et de la durée de sa période salariale. Dans ce dernier cas, de loin le plus rencontré concrètement, si la durée minimum légale de cotisation donnant droit à une pension à taux plein n’est pas trop élevée, le système de retraite peut être favorable à la croissance économique en incitant les agents à investir davantage en capital humain. Ce mode de calcul des droits à pension peut donc s’avérer économiquement profitable et dominer en tout cas le mode de calcul alternatif basé sur le versement d’une pension forfaitaire. Nous déduions également les conséquences de ce mode de calcul sur les ajustements à opérer face à différents types de structure démographique.

André Daubert a joué un rôle éminent dans l'émergence de la simulation en hydraulique, à partir des années 1960. Il a joué ensuite un rôle très important dans le développement de l'informatique et du calcul scientifique. Il a été pendant plus de 15 ans président du comité de rédaction de La Houille Blanche.

Abstract:
Les microorganismes constituent la plus grande diversité du monde vivant. Ils jouent un rôle clef dans tous les processus biologiques grâce à leurs capacités d’adaptation et à la diversité de leurs capacités métaboliques. Le développement de nouvelles approches de génomique permet de mieux explorer les populations microbiennes. Dans ce contexte, les biopuces à ADN représentent un outil à haut débit de choix pour l'étude de plusieurs milliers d’espèces en une seule expérience. Cependant, la conception et l’analyse des biopuces à ADN, avec leurs formats de haute densité actuels ainsi que l’immense quantité de données à traiter, représentent des étapes complexes mais cruciales. Pour améliorer la qualité et la performance de ces deux étapes, nous avons proposé de nouvelles approches bioinformatiques pour la conception et l’analyse des biopuces à ADN en environnements parallèles. Ces approches généralistes et polyvalentes utilisent le calcul haute performance (HPC) et les nouvelles approches du génie logiciel inspirées de la modélisation, notamment l’ingénierie dirigée par les modèles (IDM) pour contourner les limites actuelles. Nous avons développé PhylGrid 2.0, une nouvelle approche distribuée sur grilles de calcul pour la sélection de sondes exploratoires pour biopuces phylogénétiques. Ce logiciel a alors été utilisé pour construire PhylOPDb: une base de données complète de sondes oligonucléotidiques pour l’étude des communautés procaryotiques. MetaExploArrays qui est un logiciel parallèle pour la détermination de sondes sur différentes architectures de calcul (un PC, un multiprocesseur, un cluster ou une grille de calcul), en utilisant une approche de méta-programmation et d’ingénierie dirigée par les modèles a alors été conçu pour apporter une flexibilité aux utilisateurs en fonction de leurs ressources matériel. PhylInterpret, quant à lui est un nouveau logiciel pour faciliter l’analyse des résultats d’hybridation des biopuces à ADN. PhylInterpret utilise les notions de la logique propositionnelle pour déterminer la composition en procaryotes d’échantillons métagénomiques. Enfin, une démarche d’ingénierie dirigée par les modèles pour la parallélisation de la traduction inverse d’oligopeptides pour le design des biopuces à ADN fonctionnelles a également été mise en place<br>Microorganisms represent the largest diversity of the living beings. They play a crucial rôle in all biological processes related to their huge metabolic potentialities and their capacity for adaptation to different ecological niches. The development of new genomic approaches allows a better knowledge of the microbial communities involved in complex environments functioning. In this context, DNA microarrays represent high-throughput tools able to study the presence, or the expression levels of several thousands of genes, combining qualitative and quantitative aspects in only one experiment. However, the design and analysis of DNA microarrays, with their current high density formats as well as the huge amount of data to process, are complex but crucial steps. To improve the quality and performance of these two steps, we have proposed new bioinformatics approaches for the design and analysis of DNA microarrays in parallel and distributed environments. These multipurpose approaches use high performance computing (HPC) and new software engineering approaches, especially model driven engineering (MDE), to overcome the current limitations. We have first developed PhylGrid 2.0, a new distributed approach for the selection of explorative probes for phylogenetic DNA microarrays at large scale using computing grids. This software was used to build PhylOPDb: a comprehensive 16S rRNA oligonucleotide probe database for prokaryotic identification. MetaExploArrays, which is a parallel software of oligonucleotide probe selection on different computing architectures (a PC, a multiprocessor, a cluster or a computing grid) using meta-programming and a model driven engineering approach, has been developed to improve flexibility in accordance to user’s informatics resources. Then, PhylInterpret, a new software for the analysis of hybridization results of DNA microarrays. PhylInterpret uses the concepts of propositional logic to determine the prokaryotic composition of metagenomic samples. Finally, a new parallelization method based on model driven engineering (MDE) has been proposed to compute a complete backtranslation of short peptides to select probes for functional microarrays

Abstract:
Le domaine du calcul par ADN consiste à utiliser l'ADN comme un matériau dynamique. En interagissant ensemble, les brins d’ADN peuvent implémenter de petits algorithmes et effectivement calculer. Par exemple, l’état de l’art permet l’évaluation de circuits logiques, où les informations de l’évaluation des circuits sont encodées dans les reconfigurations d’assemblage de brins d'ADN. Un autre exemple d’approche consiste à attacher des brins d'ADN selon des règles définies, proches du Le domaine du calcul par ADN consiste à utiliser l'ADN comme un matériau dynamique. En interagissant ensemble, les brins d’ADN peuvent implémenter de petits algorithmes et effectivement calculer. Par exemple, l’état de l’art permet l’évaluation de circuits logiques, où les informations de l’évaluation des circuits sont encodées dans les reconfigurations d’assemblage de brins d'ADN. Un autre exemple d’approche consiste à attacher des brins d'ADN selon des règles définies, proches du concept de tuiles de Wang, sur des substrats constitués de grands objets fait en ADN, appelés origami d'ADN. Cependant, toutes les approches actuelles sont confrontées au défi du passage à l’échelle. Dans la plupart des designs, la taille de l'entrée du problème est liée, soit aux caractéristiques de l'origami d'ADN, soit au nombre de brins d'ADN mélangés dans l’expérience. Cependant, ce nombre de brins est limité à la fois d'un point de vue pratique, et aussi d'un point de vue théorique. En effet, le risque d’hybridation d’ADN non voulue augmente avec le nombre de brins. Dans cette thèse, nous voulons résoudre ce sujet de scalabilité, sur le problème particulier de la résolution de labyrinthes. Ce problème a déjà été résolu, mais de manière non réversible et non scalable. Nous proposons dans ce travail d'implémenter une marche aléatoire réversible sur un origami d'ADN. Notre objectif est double. Tout d'abord, nous concevons un design composé d’un nombre fixe de seulement quatre brins différents, quelle que soit la taille du labyrinthe. Ensuite, nous proposons l'utilisation de la réversibilité, qui est un facteur clé, car elle permet d'exploiter le hasard pour tenter de revenir en arrière pour effacer les erreurs d'hybridation. Dans la première partie, nous avons mené des expériences au cours desquelles nous avons fixé des chemins de manière statique sur un origami d'ADN que nous avons conçu. Nous validerons notre capacité à mener, observer et traiter ces expériences. Dans la seconde partie, nous proposons une implémentation d'une marche aléatoire réversible grâce à une variante de la technique de toehold exchange strand displacement. Nous avons mené et développé des expériences sur cette variante grâce à une approche bottom-up. Cette approche bottom-up expérimente d’abord en imitant la présence d’origami d’ADN grâce à des structures d’ADN plus petites. Puis dans un second temps en ajoutant la présence d’un origami d’ADN<br>The DNA computing field consists in using DNA as dynamic building blocks. By interacting together, they can implement small algorithms and effectively compute. Many successful approaches were made. For instance, by implementing logical circuits where reconfigurations of DNA complexes progressively evaluate the network. Another approach is to attach DNA strands according to defined rules to a substrate made of large DNA objects called DNA origami. However, all the current approaches face the challenge of scalability. In most designs, the size of the input is linked to either the DNA origami or the number of strands. The number of strands, is limited not only technically but also theoretically, as there is an inherent chance of hybridization error between two strands that are not fully complementary. In this thesis, we want to solve this scalability issue on the particular problem of maze solving. This problem was already solved in both in a non-reversible and non-scalable fashion. We propose to implement a reversible random walk walker on a DNA origami. Our point is twofold. First, we can make a design with only four different strands, no matter the size of the maze. Most importantly, using reversibility is a key factor, as it can harness randomness to reverse hybridization errors. In the first part, we conducted experiments where we attached static paths made of DNA strands on a DNA origami. We will validate our ability to both conduct, observe and process these experiments. In the second part, we propose an implementation of a reversible random walk using a variation of the toehold mediated strand displacement technique. Ce travail de thèse, réalisé dans le cadre des projets de recherche ROSIRIS (IRSN) et Geant4-DNA, porte sur la construction d’une simulation multi-échelle dédiée au calcul des dommages radio-induits précoces à l’ADN qui peuvent apparaître suite à l’irradiation d’un noyau cellulaire. L’outil développé s’appuie sur une version modifiée du code de Monte Carlo Geant4-DNA et est capable de simuler dans le détail le transport et les interactions physiques entre l’irradiation ionisante et la matière biologique (étape physique), la création d’espèces chimiques (étape physico-chimique) et les réactions et processus de diffusion de ces dernières (étape chimique). Durant la simulation de ces trois étapes, un modèle géométrique de l’ADN, décrivant l’ensemble du génome humain avec une précision moléculaire, est généré avec un nouveau logiciel développé dans le cadre de cette thèse : DnaFabric. Les premiers résultats obtenus pour des irradiations avec des protons et des ions alpha sont détaillés et comparés à des données de la littérature. Un bon accord est observés avec ces dernières illustrant ainsi la cohérence de l’ensemble de la simulation. L’influence très significative du critère de sélection utilisé pour identifier les dommages à l’ADN est également démontrée<br>This work was performed in the frame of the ROSIRIS (IRSN) and Geant4-DNA research projects and describes the development of a simulation tool to compute radioinduced early DNA damages in a cell nucleus. The modeling tool is based on a modified version of the Monte Carlo code Geant4-DNA and is able to simulate the physical interactions between ionizing particles and the biological target (physical stage), the creation of chemical species within the cell nucleus (physico-chemical stage) as well as the reactions and diffusion processes of these chemical species (chemical stage). During all the simulation, a geometrical model that describes the DNA content of a human diploid cell nucleus is taken into account. This model was generated with a new software (DnaFabric) developed in the frame of this work and has a molecular level of detail.The first results (in term of DNA strand breaks) obtained with this tool are detailed and compared with experimental data from the literature. The good agreement between the simulation results and those data shows the coherence of our modeling. The significant influence of the selection criteria used to identify the DNA damages is also demonstrated

La structure des complexes a1-f, adp-a1 et adp-a1-f en solution aqueuse est etudiee par rmn multinoyaux (1h, 19f, 27a1, 31p), en utilisant aussi le pyrophosphate (ppi) comme modele de l'adp. Les resultats montrent que tous les complexes observes a ph 7 sont de geometrie octaedrique. Les complexes binaires a1-f et les complexes ternaires adp-a1-f majoritaires ont ete etudies. Une des deux familles des complexes ternaires ppi-a1-f observees presente une haute stabilite thermodynamique et des couplages 2jf-f bien resolus. Les resultats obtenus avec l'adp (liaison bidentate, aluminium octaedrique) contredisent l'hypothese generalement admise d'une inhibition de la calcium-atpase par les fluoroaluminates en association avec l'adp, jouant alors le role du phosphate gamma d'un atp (liaison monodentate du phosphate beta de l'adp sur l'aluminium tetraedique). AbstractProgramming with versions is a paradigm that allows a program to use multiple versions of a module so that the programmer can selectively use functions from both older and newer versions of a single module. Previous work formalized $$\lambda _{\textrm{VL}}$$ λ VL , a core calculus for programming with versions, but it has not been integrated into practical programming languages. In this paper, we propose VL, a Haskell-subset surface language for $$\lambda _{\textrm{VL}}$$ λ VL along with its compilation method. We formally describe the core part of the VL compiler, which translates from the surface language to the core language by leveraging Girard’s translation, soundly infers the consistent version of expressions along with their types, and generates a multi-version interface by bundling specific-version interfaces. We conduct a case study to show how VL supports practical software evolution scenarios and discuss the method’s scalability.

Studies with calcium ionophores, permeabilised platelets, and platelets containing fluorescent calcium indicators quin2 and fura-2 have shown that elevation [Ca2+]i is an effective trigger for shape-change, aggregation, secretion and release of TxA2; and that elevation of [Ca2+]i is an important part of a complex “activation cascade” set up by natural agonists combining with their surface receptors. We have used calcium ionophores to impose [Ca2+]i changes, monitored by indicator dyes, to construct [Ca2+]i/function relationships for shape-change, secretion, aggregation, arachidonic acid release, TxA2 production, and myosin phosphorylation in intact platelets(e.g.1,2). Some of these functions can also be studied by analagous experiments using Ca2+-buffers to set known [Ca2+]i in permeabilised platelets. Our ability to monitor and modulate [Ca2+]i with fluorescent indicators has also allowed us to see what happens when [Ca2+]i changes are greately reduced or even absent and to investigate other pathways of intracellular activation. We think that formation of diacyl glycerol and activation of protein kinase-C can explain, some, but not all, of the cell activation that some agonists can apparently evoke at or near resting [Ca2+]i, and that combined or synergistic actions of Ca2+ and other intracellular mediators is the usual basis for physiological activation(3). Most agonists seem to promote both Ca2+ entry across the plasma membrahe and discharge from intracellular organelles, presumably the dense tubular system. The available evidence fits with the prevailing idea that Ins 1,4,5 P3 formed by agonist evoked hydrolysis of PIP2, is the internal messenger for Ca2+ release. Our kinetic measurements of [Ca2+]i transients require that optimal concentrations of InsP3 are formed within 250 milliseconds(4,5). The question of whether ADP receptors in human platelets are directly coupled with PIP2 breakdown remains contentious. Probably they do, weakly, and the differences from most other receptors are quantitative rather than qualitative. We do not understand the mechanisms of agonist-evoked Ca2+-entry; there is now plenty of evidence that argues against a role for membrane depolarisation and voltage-gated Ca channels, including some recent work with ionic substitution(5). Stopped-flow fluorescence analysis of [Ca2+]i rises in fura-2-loaded human platelets reveals some intriguing new insights(4,5). With thrombin, vasopressin and PAF at optimal concentrations, there is a highly reproducible delay before the signal starts to rise, which is approximately 250msec in the absence of external calcium compared to 190msec in the presence of external calcium. This suggests that Ca entry leads internal release, and gives ample time for complex coupling mechanisms for both processes.The delay with ADP, in the presence of external calcium, is much smaller suggesting a different coupling mechanism for Ca entry.

The presence of metals in hot springs has been associated with various adverse health effects. Although some elements are essential for humans, they are dangerous at high levels of exposure. There have been little studies on the presence of metals in hot springs in Colombia, therefore, laboratory tests were carried out over a period of six months (June to December, 2021), with spot samples every month in a ferruginous hot spring in the Cundinamarca region, Colombia. Tests were carried out for arsenic (As), chromium (Cr), mercury (Hg), lead (Pb), aluminum (Al), copper (Cu), iron (Fe), magnesium (Mg), manganese (Mn), nickel (Ni), zinc (Zn), strontium (Sr), and calcium (Ca) in the Laboratory of the Bogota Aqueduct and Sewer Company (in Spanish EAAB). Since there are no regulations in Colombia there is no regulation on the quality of hot springs, the analysis of results was carried out by comparing them with standards for drinking water and swimming pools from countries such as Canada, Germany, and the World Health Organization (WHO) as well as hot springs in Japan. It was observed that iron was the only metal that exceeded the regulations for drinking water and swimming pools.

The assessment of fracture healing is aided by identifying features in roentgenographs that signify bone union. In comminuted or multi-part fractures, external callus formation relates to mechanical rigidity at the fracture site.[1] However, inter- and intra-observer variability of 20–25% exists when physicians evaluate callus.[2] Furthermore, current classification systems lose information by converting continuous features into categorical variables.[3] These limitations have restricted the clinical utility of plain radiographs in retrospective evaluation of treatment course.[4,5] Image processing presents a viable means to reduce observer error, while yielding continuous results. The aim of this work was to verify, numerically and clinically, an objective method to quantify callus formation.

Human polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNs) loaded with the photoprotein Aequorin, were exposed to PAF in the presence of extracellular Ca2+ (1 mM). PMNs aggregation measured In the “Platelet Ionized Calcium Aggregometer” (P.I.C.A.) was dependent on the concentration of the stimulus. Ca2+ cytoplasmatic increase was monitored in parallel at concentrations of PAF which did not modify cellular integrity (10-7-10-5M). The intracellular Ca2+ flux (up to 19±3 µM) triggered by PAF was also concentration-dependent. In order to establish the role played by this intracellular messenger, we studied some cellular responses possibly related to Ca2+ mobilization: enzymatic release, oxygen radicals production, and arachidonic acid metabolism. PAF induced release of both lysozyme , and β-glucuronldase (15% to 20% of the total enzyme content at the maximal concentration). However PAF (10-712-10“Vl) stimulated the production of only small amounts of oxygen radicals as compared to Phorbol Myristate Acetate (PMA). Leukotriene B4 (LTB4), the main arachidonic acid metabolite in PMNs and the products of its catabolism (20-OH and 20-C00H LTBO were assayed by two different technics (HPLC and RIA) in the same cellular suspensions. PAF (10-4 M)-stimulated PMNs (0.5-2xl07 cells/ml) did not produce any detectable amount of these arachidonic acid metabolites. In contrast, calcium ionophore A 23187 (2 μM)-stimulated PMNs (in the same range of cellular concentration) produce up to 170 ng/ml of LTB4. In conclusion, cytoplasmatic Ca2+ increase in PAF-stimulated PMNs was not accompanied either by oxygen radicals production or by activation of arachidonic acid metabolism catalyzed by 5-1 ipoxygenase.

The paper presents the results of modeling the heat transfer process in heterogeneous media with the assumption that part of the heat flux is dispersed in the air around the beam. The heat transfer process in solid material (beam) can be described by integer order partial differential equation. However, in heterogeneous media it can be described by sub- or hyperdiffusion equation which results in fractional order partial differential equation. Taking into consideration that the part of the heat flux is dispersed into the neighbouring environment we additionally modify the main relation between heat flux and the temperature, and we obtain in this case the heat transfer equation in the new form. This leads to the transfer function which describes the dependency between the heat flux at the beginning of the beam and the temperature at the given distance. The article also presents the experimental results of modeling real plant in the frequency domain basing on the obtained transfer function.

Abstract:
La uchuva (Physalis peruviana, L.) es una fruta exótica que pertenece a la familia Solanaceae y es bien conocida por su valor nutricional (alto contenido de vitaminas A, C, complejo B, fósforo, calcio y hierro), además de su salud posee beneficios como actividad antioxidante, antiinflamatoria y antihepatotóxica. Colombia es el mayor productor mundial de esta fruta, seguido por Sudáfrica, y es la segunda fruta en las exportaciones colombianas de esta fruta fresca, siguiendo el banano. Sin embargo, el rendimiento y la calidad de la fruta no satisfacen los estándares requeridos para el mercado debido a la falta de variedades de alto rendimiento y resistentes a la fisuración. Comprender la base genética, aumentar el conocimiento de la arquitectura genética de la calidad de la fruta y los rasgos de rendimiento en el cabo grosella proporcionará ventajas en la evaluación de la diversidad genética, la identidad del cultivar y el desarrollo de tiempo de nuevas variedades mediante el uso de la selección asistida por marcadores.

In part one of this deliverable, an ensemble of 14 CMIP6 Earth System Models is evaluated regarding their performance in simulating alkalinity and related parameters. The majority of the models and the multi-model-mean underestimate surface alkalinity compared to climatological observations. Alkalinity biases stemming from the parametrization of calcium carbonate formation and dissolution can be as big as biases stemming from model physics. In part two, we test the sensitivity of parametrizations concerning the carbonate chemistry in the FESOM2.1-REcoM3 and give recommendations for addressing alkalinity biases.
