Abstract:
It is interesting to note that even though the studies of atmospheric effects in physical stores have been abundant, knowledge of ambient factor effects in the online retailing context has been limited. This study investigates the influence of webmospheric effect, web page color displays on respondents’ emotional reactions and subsequent online impulse buying intention. A Stimulus-Organism-Responses (S-O-R) model was used as the basic framework and a laboratory experiment was conducted to test the hypotheses in this study. The results demonstrated that web page color displays had a significant effect on participants’ emotional response, eventually influencing their intention to purchase impulsively online. Specifically, respondents felt more aroused and experienced greater pleasure when they were exposed to chromatic web page displays than achromatic one. Additionally, both pleasure and arousal emotions played an intervening role between web page color displays and online impulse purchasing intention. Personality traits and product involvement were proved to moderate the relationship between atmospheric cues and impulse shopping intention. These findings suggest that the website design with effective web page color displays would create a desirable environment and thus prompt consumers to buy impulsively. Finally, research implications of the model and proposition are presented.

Abstract:
Abstract. Based on the results of a pilot study in 2007, which found high mixing ratios of molecular iodine (I2) above the intertidal macroalgae (seaweed) beds at Mweenish Bay (Ireland), we extended the study to nine different locations in the vicinity of Mace Head Atmospheric Research Station on the west coast of Ireland during a field campaign in 2009. I2 mixing ratios from 104 to 393 ppt were found above the macroalgae beds, implying a high source strength of I2. Such mixing ratios are sufficient to result in photochemically-driven coastal new-particle formation events. Mixing ratios above the Ascophyllum nodosum and Fucus vesiculosus beds increased with exposure time – after 6 h exposure to ambient air the mixing ratios were one order of magnitude higher than those initially present. This contrasts with the emission characteristics of Laminaria digitata, where most I2 was emitted within the first half hour of exposure. Discrete in situ measurements (off-line) of I2 emission from ambient air-exposed chamber experiments of L. digitata, A. nodosum and F. vesiculosus substantially supported the field observations. Further online and time-resolved measurements of the I2 emission from O3-exposed macroalgal experiments in chamber confirmed the distinct I2 emission characteristics of A. nodosum and F. vesiculosus compared to that of L. digitata. The emission rates of A. nodosum and F. vesiculosus were comparable to or even higher than L. digitata after the initial exposure period of ~20–30 min. We suggest that A. nodosum and F. vesiculosus may provide an unaccounted and important source of photolabile iodine in the coastal boundary layer and that their impact on photochemistry and coastal new particle formation should be reevaluated in light of their longer exposure at low-tide and their widespread distribution.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Campus is a multi-tenant technology that supports multiple platforms, characterized by enabling the creation and dynamization of online communities, among which is Campus by Fundação Altice and the miOne platform. Although they are part of the same technology, they have different objectives and target audiences. Despite offering a comprehensive set of utility tools and content, both face the challenge of growing their network of users and remain sustainable. Games, as hedonic systems, are intended for the pleasure of their players rather than having a concrete outcome of the use. Its game design process is focused on the user’s motivations and engagement and, due to its success, game components and techniques started to be used in contexts other than entertainment. This phenomenon is called gamification. Within the scope of this investigation, a dynamic gamification strategy was developed in the Campus multi-tenant environment in order to meet the specific needs of each platform and its respective online communities. For this, the development research methodology was applied, and the final result was evaluated through a convenience sample involving the target audience of the two platforms. The investigation process was guided through the different stages: analysis and assessment of the situation, design and realization of the model, implementation and evaluation. The application of the developed strategy was applied and evaluated through its integration in the Campus by Fundação Altice and miOne platforms, over several sessions, where five users of each platform were able to experience the different functionalities developed. It was found that the developed solution is capable of supporting different platforms, and that users followed the various stimulus of the implemented strategy with satisfaction and motivation.

Abstract:
Abstract:
Social media such as microblogging services and social networking sites are changing the way people interact online and search for information and opinions. This book investigates linguistic patterns in electronic discourse, looking at online evaluative language, Internet slang, memes and ambient affiliation using a large Twitter corpus (over 100 million tweets) alongside specialized case studies. The author argues that we are currently witnessing a cultural movement from online conversation to what can be termed 'searchable talk' - online talk where people affiliate by making their discourse findable (for example, via metadata such as Twitter hashtags) by others holding similar interests. This cutting edge text will be of interest to all scholars and students dealing with electronically mediated discourse.

Abstract:
The evidence for AMBIT is described, together with our intentions regarding future development and dissemination. Existing evidence, and its limits, is sketched out. Challenges for future data collection/analysis are highlighted in relation to a “model” that is, by design, broad and adaptable, rendering “fidelity” difficult to define in conventional terms. Opportunities for meaningful randomized trials are limited, but possible. A description of AMBIT’s strategy for future model development (referencing open-source computing, learning organizations, and quality improvement models) concludes with a summary of AMBIT’s “evidence-informed” approach. AMBIT’s role as a learning system is supported by innovative web-based collaborations (for instance POD, a pooled online data system). Diverse training methods and reflective self-audit questions for teams considering training are described. Skepticism about how conventional trainings could ever create the necessary “step change” in services is balanced by the opportunities for dissemination offered by web-based learning and devolved engagement of a community of practice.

Abstract:
Chapter 5 deals with the jurisdiction of the criminal courts and the applicable criminal law (the ambit of the criminal law) and contrasts the English common law with German law in cybercrime cases, highlighting the similarity of the challenges and the differences in approach of both countries. As a broad rule of thumb, English common law (largely) restricts criminal jurisdiction to the territoriality principle, whereas German law recognizes the active and the passive personality principle, sometimes coupled with the double criminality rule, meaning that the act must be a criminal offence in the place where it was carried out. Notably, German law has codified the universality principle for certain offences, and by so doing exceeds its obligations under international treaties; for example, in respect of child sexual exploitation and abuse materials. Both countries face the same challenges in applying the territoriality principle and connecting cybercrime offences to their respective territories (eg in respect of the question where illegal content online was published). Criminal jurisdiction (subject to specific statutory exceptions) in England has long been confined by the terminatory approach, but has now been reformed by a substantial measure test. Finally, the chapter examines inchoate offences and the specific provisions on jurisdiction contained in the Computer Misuse Act.

Abstract:
While there is a progress in different sciences, researchers in machine learning working to make the people life more comfortable by interpreting this progress in various life sphere, they introduced new field called Ambient Intelligence (AmI). The main idea behind AmI is to enroll technology in every aspect of our lives to interact with societies in a smooth manner and improves the quality of our lives. During the last two decades, Ambient Intelligence evolved fast toward suitable developing real-life solutions, causing mass evolutions in every aspect of life as learning, transportation, manufacturing, healthcare, etc. The paper constrained on the healthcare domain due to its exciting paradigm. In this paradigm, the digital environments will not only interact with human events through sensing and interpreting, but it will also learn and adapt actions to the inhabitant needs, gestures, habits, and emotions. This paper summarizes the requirements to achieve the vision of Ambient Intelligence in healthcare. The paper will analyze and compare some previous case studies and scenarios in the Ambient Intelligence area. Finally, the paper proposes a scenario that focuses on the slice of elderly and disabled people those who are physically disabled and have neurological problems to help them to enhance the facilities of using Ambient Intelligence technologies in healthcare and an associated architecture and support them to interact with the community. The paper proposes an architecture that converts the user’s home to look like smart-homes because of the scattered sensors and devices in it and connecting them all together with some sensors on the user’s body besides providing the user with giraff-robot with a screen with different tasks. Some of the giraff-robot responsibilities are to do some actions according to the sensed data, and to work as an online trainer by displaying videos or displaying an avatar tells the user how to do it. The paper tries to present the benefit of using the AmI and the advantage of E-learning -by providing the online training- to ease the life of this slice of people. The architecture tries to respond to the requirements needed by the user those identified during our work.

Abstract:
Abstract Battery energy storage systems (ESS) have been proven to significantly reduce emissions and fuel consumption on drilling rigs since the industry's first system was deployed in 2018. These systems leverage their stored energy to reduce the number of generators online and operate the remaining generators at high load where they are most efficient. Control methodology has traditionally required at least one generator to be online to follow the grid formed by the generator(s) and bias the load higher or lower. However, during operations where power demand is lower than the capacity of a single generator, the battery becomes fully charged leaving the system with no mechanism to artificially increase generator load. This results in a single generator running at low load for extended periods of time. A new automated energy-saving feature, characterized by the absence of ambient noise typically associated with generators, was developed to address this issue and create opportunities for additional fuel and emissions reductions. When the system determines that the operation will not require significant power consumption for an extended period, it will automatically initiate a shutdown of the last online generator and switch to the automated energy-saving mode, using only the batteries to form the electrical grid and supply power to all rig equipment. The rig will continue to operate in this mode until the battery state of charge drops to a certain threshold, at which point it will automatically launch a generator. When the additional generator comes online, it will run at a high load for a brief period to quickly recharge the battery. This accomplishes both goals of reducing generator runtime and increasing average generator load. A calculated approach was necessary to maximize the time in the energy-saving mode while avoiding any impact to operations. Additionally, the control scheme was designed to minimize the number of generator starts while taking precautions to stay within the discharge limitations of the batteries. This feature was deployed to the fleet of ESS, resulting in additional fuel and emissions savings not possible with the traditional systems. Factors including ambient temperature and the operator-specific drilling program produced a wide range of efficiency improvement across the fleet.

In Brazil, there are more than 6.5 million people with some visualimpairment. The total or partial loss of vision can cause a significantimpact on the lives of these people. The cane is now the mostwidely available resource accessible to assist the locomotion ofthese individuals. However, it is a limited resource. Once it cannotclassify the objects found, it only detects their existence. This workcontributes to new discussions on location and online mappingon the theme of Assistive Technologies. We developed a systemthat enables users to classify environments, promoting localizationthrough context science. Our solution uses images captured by awebcam, computer vision techniques, and probabilistic analysis. We evaluated on objective metrics showing satisfactory results.

Abstract:
Extensive operational performance data from the Siemens Power Generation V64.3 unit in Obernburg, Germany (operated by Kraftwerk Obernburg GmbH) is evaluated. The unit was commissioned in 1996 and has been running continuously in base load operation with fuel gas to supply heat and power to a nearby chemical plant. In rare cases, fuel oil is used as a backup fuel. During the first major outage after approx. 25000 equivalent operating hours (EOH), the Siemens PG Advanced Compressor Cleaning System (ACCS) was implemented at Obernburg. ACCS features separate nozzle systems for online and offline compressor cleaning accounting for different operating conditions. For online cleaning, the droplet size is optimised for the droplets to remain in the main air flow in order to minimize erosion effects while providing a homogeneous field over the whole air intake. With reduced rotational speed during offline compressor cleaning, erosion is less critical. Offline nozzles, therefore, provide higher mass flow and larger droplets in order to maximize cleaning performance for all compressor stages. ACCS, in its maximum automated version, features operation from the control room, online-washing at low ambient temperatures (officially released down to −15°C without GT Anti-Icing) and minimum use of manpower. The ACCS system in Obernburg was operated according to the recommended online washing procedure. By June 2002, the V64.3-unit in Obernburg reached 50000 EOH and the second major inspection was carried out. For this paper, operational data from the second inspection intervals (24350–49658 EOH) and from three performance tests with calibrated equipment are compared in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the Advanced Compressor Cleaning System. Statistical evaluation of single-wash performance recovery and the evolution of long-term performance are presented. The effects of degradation and fouling are differentiated. It is shown that ACCS has a significant benefit for long-term engine performance.

Full text
Abstract:
A Predictive Emission Monitoring (PEM) model has been developed for a non-DLE GE LM2500 gas turbine used on a natural gas compressor station on the TransCanada Pipeline System in Alberta. The PEM model is based on an optimized Neural Network (NN) architecture which takes four fundamental engine parameters as input variables. The model predicts NOx emission in ppmv-dry-O2 corrected and in kg/hr as NO2. The NN was trained using Continuous Emission Monitoring (CEM) measurements comprising two sets of actual emission data collected over two different dates in 2009, when the ambient ambient temperatures were vastly different (∼1° C and 24 °C), respectively. These training data were supplemented by other emission data generated by GE ‘Cycle-Deck’ tool to generate emission data at different ambient temperatures ranging from −30 to +30 °C. The outcome is a total of 1872 emission data of engine emissions at different operating conditions covering the range of the engine operating parameters (402 data points from CEM and 1470 data points from GE Cycle-Deck). The PEM model comprises a simple single hidden layer perceptron type NN with only two neurons in it. The performance of the NN-based model showed a correlation coefficient greater than 0.99, and error standard deviation of 4.5 ppmv of NOx and 1.4 kg/hr as NO2. Uncertainty analysis was conducted to assess the effects of uncertainties in the engine parameters on the NOx predictions by PEM. It was shown that for uncertainty in the ambient temperature of ±1 °C, the uncertainty in the NOx prediction is ± 0.9 to ±3.5%. Uncertainties of the order of ±1% in the other three input parameters results in uncertainties in NOx predictions by ±2.5 to ±6%. Finally, the PEM model was implemented in the station CEHM (Compressor Equipment Health Monitoring) system and NOx prediction were reported online on a minutely basis. These data are presented here over the first three months since implementation.

Abstract:
This paper addresses the on-line application of ATMOS SIM simulation software, integrated with ABB Network Manager WS500, to a subsea pipeline network of 7,800 km (4,847 mile) length — see Figure 1. The pipeline system is operated by Gassco Norway, and it delivers an annual volume of approximately 100 billion standard cubic meters of Norwegian gas to customers in Western Europe. One of the main challenges to such a great subsea pipeline system is the limited measurements available. For nearly all of the pipelines, the only location where flow, pressure and temperature are measured is at the inlet and outlet which could be more than 800 km (497 mile) apart. The following applications will be addressed in this paper: • IT architecture. User controls including Common Alarm List. • Data validation overview. • Pipeline inventory calculation. • Continuous calculation of settle-out-pressures for (sub)sections of pipelines to provide information for emergency shutdown systems. • Integration of ambient seabed temperatures as provided by UK Met. • Composition tracking including the possibility to track user specified trace components. • Estimated arrival times and volumes of “off-specification” gas. • Tracking of the parentage of batches such that the party responsible for off-spec gas can be identified (polluter pays principle). • Facilities to restart models from historic data with the possibility to remove erroneous inputs. • Continuous running of look-ahead cases based on user defined transient time series and nominations for contractual exit points. • Using larger network models to plan and monitor mixing of gasses to prevent off-spec gas. Comparisons between simulated and measured values will be made to illustrate the accuracy of the hydraulic models. In addition, the application of Maximum Likelihood State Estimation will be discussed to demonstrate its effectiveness in overcoming measurement errors.

Abstract:
In order to decrease the false alarm rate and improve the sensitivity of pipeline fault diagnosis system, three artificial intelligence based methods are first proposed. Neural networks with the input matrix composed by stress wave characteristics in time domain or frequency domain is proposed to classify various situations of the pipeline, in order to detect the leakage from pipeline online running data. Context-free grammar of symbolic representation of the negative wave form is used and a negative wave form parsing system with application to syntactic pattern recognition based on the representation is described. New complex thermal and hydraulic models, in which the flow regime, viscosity-temperature characteristics, density-temperature characteristics and specific heat-temperature characteristics, etc., of the running fluid in the pipelines are set up for non-isothermal pipeline carrying higher temperature fluid or in ambient environment.

Abstract:
Abstract The industrial gas turbines must perform better and better with regards to emissions, fuel flexibility, load and ambient range and combustion stability. Industrial gas turbines with DLE (dry low emission) systems use a fuel split control to cope with most of these problems, but with the higher demand for fuel flexibility, it is not enough with fixed split values or quasi-active controls based on the root mean square (RMS) values of predefined filtered frequency bands of the combustion dynamics. An improvement can be done with the help of newer and better measurement systems with online spectral information and data acquisition capabilities used to control the fuel split. This will also allow accommodating a larger range of fuel compositions, variations in gas supply pressure and ambient operating conditions without additional gas turbine downtime. This paper describes how the new adaptive fuel split control, named “emission control trim” has been implemented and tested in a full-scale gas turbine rig and field tested at a customer site with Siemens Energy 3rd generation DLE gas turbines. The following full engine tests with the same burner type showed that the “emission control trim” controller is working as it was designed to, with safety measures included and the possibility to keep a NOx emission set point at different loads with optimized combustion dynamics. It also has the possibility to lower the emissions with up to 25% at certain conditions and still have the combustion dynamics under control. The robustness of the system has been satisfactory over the tested period. The results open the possibility of using the system more widely in all gas turbine configurations using DLE burners.
