Abstract:
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to investigate the implementation of corporate social responsibility (CSR) related activities in small to medium sized construction enterprises within Australia. Reasons behind the implementation level are also evaluated. Design/methodology/approach – Quantitative and qualitative company level data from 28 Australian small to medium sized construction enterprises were collected using an in-depth questionnaire. Levels of CSR implementation in three aspects, namely, environmental, social and ethical, were measured. Each aspect was broken down into sub-areas and implementation scores were aggregated and normalised. Awareness level and concern for economic aspect, the two hypothesised reasons for level of implementation, were also measured. Non-parametric correlation analyses were used to examine the hypotheses. Findings – The findings suggest small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) incorporate some aspects of CSR into their business activities even though they do not refer to the practices as CSR, as none of them have a formal CSR policy in place. Most SMEs in the construction industry implement ethical and economic aspect of CSR; however implementation across environmental and social issues is limited. Non-parametric correlation analyses show that higher awareness of CSR issues leads to higher levels of implementation and that concern about economic aspect is not a reason why CSR is not implemented into business practices. Research limitations/implications – Everett Rogers’ diffusion paradigm can also be applied to CSR implementation, but more research works are required to theoretically and empirically examine the relationships between CSR implementation and economic aspect. Originality/value – It is apparent that there is a significant gap in the research regarding Australian SMEs and sustainability issues as the majority of the literature is focused upon large organisations even though the approaches taken by SMEs towards CSR are very different to those of large corporations. The SME business sector is a significant sector in terms of its environmental, economic and social impacts. Hence recognition of this sector is growing and is now becoming the focus of an agenda to promote the implementation of CSR practices in SMEs. This paper aims to provide useful and detailed information to add to what is currently an underdeveloped body of knowledge in this area.

Abstract:
Purpose – Stakeholder theory provided the broad theoretical lens to explore environmental issues in small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The diversity in issues examined ranged from concern for immediate stakeholders, their industry group and the influence of global warming on their business activities, to the type of environmental information included within their internal information systems. The paper aims to discuss these issues. Design/methodology/approach – A mailed survey was used to obtain data from SMEs operating in Australia. The focus was primarily directed to medium size firms. Findings – The findings indicate that SMEs were aware that their stakeholders, particularly their employees and customers were concerned with environmental issues. The respondent SMEs were also aware that global warming would influence their activities, for example, the design of their projects, occupational, health and safety, labour contracts and customer relations. Overall, the findings suggest that any tailored approach to regulate or self-regulate environmental management in SMEs, be industry and stakeholder driven. Research limitations/implications – The limitations of this research are primarily those applicable to the survey method, SME response rates, and the geographical location covered by the survey. The focus of this study is primarily medium size firms, rather than micro small business. Originality/value – This study gains insights into some of the practical aspects of environmental management in SMEs and in so doing adds to the growing body of literature in this under researched area.

With the development of a market economy, there are problems of balancing the interests of all participants in production, consumers, and society as a whole. This arouses interest in the concept of socially responsible marketing, which allows companies to focus on sustainable development and social values in solving business problems. The purpose of the article is to study the implementation of the concept of socially responsible marketing by business entities. The article considers the main aspects of the concept of socially responsible marketing, its importance for businesses. Related areas of research related to socially responsible marketing are identified based on bibliometric analysis of articles published in the Scopus database from 2010 to 2019 using VOSviewer software. It was found that the largest number of publications on the subject is available in the United States, Great Britain, Spain, and Australia. The basic principles of socially responsible marketing are grouped and its characteristic features are singled out. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of its basic tools. The tools of socially responsible marketing are broader than classical marketing and include marketing; consumer research; study of social and environmental consequences of production; consumption of manufactured goods and services. The authors noted that with traditional analytical methods in implementing the concept of socially responsible marketing, given the strategic direction of modern marketing, it is necessary to use multidimensional methods of analysis: SPACE-analysis, PEST-analysis, ETOM-analysis, QUEST-analysis, SNW-analysis, SWOT analysis, KPI analysis. The key features of the introduction of socially responsible marketing at the enterprises of Ukraine are analyzed. The paper substantiates that socially responsible marketing is a concept of marketing management, according to which the company's goal is to determine its own needs, needs and interests of target markets and meet them more effectively than competitors, ways to maintain or improve the welfare of both consumers and society in general. Keywords: marketing, principles of socially responsible marketing, socially responsible marketing, sustainable development.

Abstract The article is aimed at studying environmental responsibility of multinational enterprises in electronics and IT sectors. The main aspects of environmental policy of global business enterprises have been systematized, their characteristics for such high-tech market leaders as Alphabet Inc, IBM and Intel Corporation have been given. Corporate policies have been analyzed and compared in three aspects of environmental activity of the companies selected for this study: waste recycling, energy use and environmental impact. The results of the analysis of eco-responsible companies’ practices show that each company forms management style and tools by implementing environmental responsibility, but none of them has managed to hold higher positions in the ranking of business environmental responsibility. Reserves for activating eco-oriented companies’ policy in IT sector have been identified.

Abstract:
Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are the drivers of economic activities in Australia. The present study provides empirical evidence on the connexion between the four key dimensions of human resource management (HRM) practices and organisational performance, in response to the call by earlier researchers that the influence of specific HRM practices on organisational performance needs to be further investigated across different countries and organisational contexts. A survey among SMEs in the South-Western region of Sydney in Australia was conducted and self-reported measures were applied to attain data on HRM practice aspects and businesses’ performance. Regression analyses were employed to assess the proposed relationships, and it was found that all dimensions except training and development exhibited positive relationships to organisational performance, as hypothesised. Discussion on the findings is underlined, so as are the implications of this study, limitations, and avenues for future researchers.

Abstract:
Across the world’s rangelands, livelihoods of millions of people are dependent on customary and commercial use of wildlife. Many Australian Aboriginal communities also aspire towards developing natural resource-based enterprises but there is a unique combination of historical, legislative and cultural factors that make this process complex. Typically, government support for Indigenous enterprise development has focussed largely on development of ‘social enterprise’, with subsidies coming from various government community development programs. This has resulted in some increase in participation and employment, but often inadequate attention to economic aspects of enterprise development leading to low levels of business success. This paper will examine historical, legislative and institutional dimensions in business development in Aboriginal communities. It does this through a case study of business enterprise development of the Kakadu Plum products by the Indigenous people of the Thamarrurr Region of the Northern Territory, Australia, using a participant observation research method. We found that attention on important economic criteria was subsumed by a focus on social enterprise priorities during the development of this natural resource-based enterprise. This resulted in a very slow transition of the ‘social enterprise’ to the ‘financial enterprise’, due largely to fragmented business decisions and inefficient value chains. We call for a refocus of natural resource-based enterprise development programs in remote Australian Aboriginal townships to incorporate greater emphasis on business acumen within the complex social, cultural and political fabric.

Abstract:
The notion of Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is still stirring debate over how it should be interpreted, what models of CSR dominate in business practice, and consequences of enterprises’ engagement into socially responsible actions. While business practice demonstrates that companies voluntarily include social and environmental issues into their activities and into their relations with stakeholders, it is hard to determine what intentions motivate them to do so. This paper analyses selected aspects of discussions focused on the notion of CSR and identifies controversies over the standardisation of ethical and social business activities.

Abstract - Public participation is one of the conditions for an effective environmental impact assessment. Quite often public participation is limited to the general public but various organizations, governmental and non-governmental institutions, business enterprises are left aside. The paper analyses the attitudes of different enterprises/organizations with focus on a road construction (Siaurine Street) case in Vilnius, Lithuania in regard to the environmental impact assessment process. The survey indicated that only a very small part of respondents from different enterprises and organizations has been approached in particular environmental impact assessment process, although the construction project was relevant for nearly half of all surveyed enterprises. Companies, located in the territory of the planned Siaurine Street, highlighted that the major significant components of environmental aspects are noise and air pollution, between socio-economic environment - suitable infrastructure, human well-being and business and job opportunities. The type of company’s activity, income, number of employees and their distance to the Siaurine Street were the main factors determining respondent choices.

Abstract:
Subject. The current decade has been recognised by the world community as “a decade of decisive actions” aimed at combating numerous social and environmental issues. Solving these problems is impossible without mobilising the efforts of the business community. In this regard, corporate social responsibility (CSR) becomes highly important as well as the issue of integrating its principles into business activities. Since the industrial sector is characterised by the most significant impact on the environment and the local community and involves substantial labour resources, the implementation of CSR by industrial enterprises is of particular interest. Purpose. An analysis and assessment of the prospects for the development of corporate social responsibility among industrial enterprises in the Voronezh Region. Methods. The study involved a quantitative strategy for collecting and analysing information. The empirical basis was data from a survey carried out at 30 industrial enterprises in the Voronezh Region. Results. The empirical study allowed shaping the big picture of how CSR is understood and implemented by industrial enterprises in the Voronezh Region in terms of: the composition of the main CSR programmes and addressees; international and national CSR standards used in the activities and the formation of internal institutions for the CSR development; the nature and forms of interaction between enterprises, the state, and non-profit organisations; and assessing the prospects and barriers to the development of CSR. Conclusions. The social responsibility of non-public regional industrial enterprises remains fragmentary. There is a gap between the actual CSR content, its understanding by the management personnel of enterprises, and the current implementation of social programmes in practice. All activities of industrial enterprises in the field of CSR continue their technical and technological processes or business processes. Enterprises pay little attention to non-production activities. Enterprises are not interested in disclosing information about their activities, reducing any adverse impact they have on the environment, contributing to the sustainability of the territories where they are located, and the formation of civil society. Businesses act as closed systems that exist outside society. In order to develop the CSR of regional industrial enterprises, a set of measures (financial and economic, organisational, informational, and educational) has been proposed, which ensures the relevance of the content of regional industrial policy.

Abstract:
One of the most urgent environmental problems today is the pollution of the environment by emissions of harmful substances and industrial waste. The negative impact on the environment and people is becoming more widespread, and its disposal methods inhibit the development of the economic system. In a market economy, entrepreneurs are not interested in increasing environmental costs, which naturally lead to higher production costs and reduce profits. The impact on the environment is becoming more widespread every year and has led to an ecological crisis in some parts of the world. Waste recycling has been constantly discussed since a person “produces” more than 250 kg of household waste per year. At the enterprise, these figures reach 10 000 kg. In recent years, Ukraine has imported about 30-50 thousand tons of PET granulate, which is gradually accumulating in landfills in the form of packaging, bottles, films. Such hazardous pollutants affect the environment through soil and water. In contrast, Ukraine does not yet have successful experience in waste management. In our opinion, such behavior is the ignorance of the population about waste disposal and replacement of a particular product with a more environmentally friendly one. The functioning of enterprises and farms does not always have the equipment to dispose of waste, and there is no room for the disposal of unnecessary products and raw materials. However, the problem of lack of innovative equipment arises due to a lack of adequate funding. Therefore, the lack of possibilities for a comprehensive solution to the situation creates a barrier, which does not allow to take proper measures to eliminate and reduce the amount of garbage. Despite many regulations and legal frameworks for regulating waste management, there is no cost-effective policy, and there is no regional waste management program and plan for their proper disposal. It can be concluded that the recycling and disposal of waste will reduce the need for waste incineration, create conditions for improving the economic component of the region and the country as a whole with an account of environmental quality standards. The paper pays attention to the essence of waste disposal; identified ways to recycle garbage.

Abstract:
Purpose. The purpose of the research is to analyze Ukraine and its enterprise’s methods of implementation of circular principles and business models to ensure their sustainable development. Design/methodology/approach. The study examines the hypothesis of the global need and high efficiency of changing the economic model from linear to circular at different levels, including the adaptation of circular business models at Ukrainian enterprises. To assess the essence, advantages, practical approaches, and examples of transformation by enterprises of the circular principles and business models, general scientific theoretical methods of scientific research (formalization, analysis, and synthesis, systematization, and explanation) are used. Findings. The hypothesis of the global need and high efficiency of changing the economic model from linear to circular at different levels, including the adaptation of circular business models at Ukrainian enterprises, is proven. The world experience and practice, first of all, European, are analyzed, and successful examples of their introduction by the leading enterprises are given. They confirmed that circular principles are helpful not only for ecology and the environment but also for enterprises and states’ economic efficiency. Practical implications. The results of this research show that taking into account the world experience and provided recommendations, in particular on “green procurement”, it is expedient for domestic enterprises to implement promptly circular business models for sustainable development and international competitiveness boosting, and for the state – to develop a clear strategy for transition to a circular economic model. For its effective implementation, it is necessary to consider three aspects: economic, environmental, and social, as well as possible risks. Originality/value. Considering current environmental and economic problems, the circular model was recognized as especially relevant for Ukraine today on its way to the E.U. This study highlights the essence, principles, prerequisites, and world experience of transition from a linear to a circular model of the economy and ways of sustainable development and competitiveness of domestic enterprises by adapting circular business models. The results are valuable for enterprises and countries in their transition to circularity, providing waste recovery and recycling, using renewable materials and reuse of products, prevention of pollution and depletion of resources, ensuring profitability and sustainable development.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to identify the necessary public support measures for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and provide policy makers with guidance on how to facilitate a successful digital transformation. The study is based on a representative survey of 425 Latvian SMEs carried out in spring 2021. We combine three analyses: a survey among SMEs, qualitative comparative analysis and regression analysis. The results of this study show that a significant number of SMEs are convinced that they will not be able to cope with digital transformation without various kinds of assistance, with direct financial support from the state or EU funds and tax incentives playing a major role. The range of public support required is rather wide, from staff training, mentoring and increasing the potential workforce to tax relief and direct financial support. We found statistically significant differences in public support needed depending on the size of SMEs and their ability to independently manage digital transformation. These findings could be useful for policymakers, managers and practitioners to identify various forms of public support that can maximize the impact of digital transformation not only on business, but also on society as a whole.

Sustainable livestock farming is a hot issue worldwide. Last decade there is an intense transformation that affect all aspects of the sector like economic, social and environmental. This transformation has to deal with the increasing market globalization, the changes in Common Agriculture Policy and the new social awareness in environmental issues. The aim of this study is to profile and classify goat farms according to their performance using farm-level data that concerns economic, social and environmental sustainability. A combination of multivariate analysis techniques, such as Principal Component Analysis and Cluster Analysis were developed for the aggregation of synthetic indicators and for the creation of farm typologies. According to results, Greek goat farming achieves a low performance in almost all pillars of sustainability, but if the sector adopt sustainable practices there is the margin to become more elastic and competitive.

Abstract:
The aim of the study is to analyse the theoretical basis of greening and digital transformation of enterprise business processes. The objectives of the study are to summarize the theoretical and methodological framework for the issues investigated and substantiate the conceptual approach to the environmental and economic development of the enterprise based on the concept of green business and the implementation of the digital transformation approach. The scientific novelty of the study consists in further development of the theoretical foundations of greening and digital transformation of enterprise business processes, as well as in the use of the organizational and methodological approach to determine the socio-economic and eco-economic consequences of the choice of priorities for the production and consumption of environmental products. The research used general scientific and special methods: scientific abstraction, analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction, abstraction and concretization, system and comparative analysis; statistical analysis; the matrix method. It has been proved that enterprises in Latvia and Ukraine face the critical task of finding a balance between improving the existing business models of their activities based on the implementation of digital technologies, and minimizing the negative environmental impacts. It has been established that the economic system of Ukraine remains ecologically unfavourable; however, to solve this problem, measures to implement the system of circular economy and create incentives for the development of green business have been developed. The results of expert evaluations have showed that Latvia is the leader in Europe in the consumption of green energy and is the largest exporter in the ICT sector in the Baltic States.

With the development of globalization, countries encourage non-profit organizations or general enterprises to use the business model beyond profit, pay attention to social value and solve social or environmental problems synchronously. Social design is to solve social problems, promote innovation in the field of social reform, and solve all kinds of problems derived from social development. However, many social enterprises show enthusiasm for the society but ignore the importance of the management, which will be difficult to reach the goal of sustainable development. This paper serves as a reference for social enterprises to build a sustainable management model from the aspects of social design, systems thinking and value proposition of business model through a case study. The enterprises can not only achieve a sustainable development by relying on government subsidies or the implementation of government plans, but also solve social problems by improving the social environment.

Abstract:
Entrepreneurship is one of the driving forces behind the development of the national economy. The effect of entrepreneurship in the economic dimension is a business entity, most often a small or medium enterprise. The SME sector plays a significant role in every national economy. Traditionally, people perceived entrepreneurship as a factor measured by the earned profit. Increasing it was the primary goal of enterprises operating on the market. The operating conditions and competitiveness level have meant that enterprises beside economic goals also pursue social and environmental goals. Entrepreneurship is perceived as a determinant of social and ecological development, thus referred to as sustainable entrepreneurship. This article aims to identify and evaluate attitudes towards sustainable entrepreneurship among Polish enterprises. We compare the obtained results with their self-assessment and distinguish different approaches to business activity. The cluster analysis of survey results shows that the Polish SME sector can be divided into five separate groups characterized by a different approach and level of implementation of sustainable development. We also concluded that the Polish enterprises are more focused on social than environmental aspects.

Abstract:
It has been pointed out in the article that intellectual capital has become a key component of the competitiveness of economic entities and national economies in the last quarter of the twentieth century. Economic globalization caused its transformation into businesses` intangible asset. Enterprises began to consider it when calculating their market value, as well as of equity offering, their participation in stock exchange trading. It has been stressed that these processes have proved the need to analyze the nature, structure and evaluation of intellectual capital. The study of intellectual capital assessment makes it possible to note that managers aimed at the efficient management and business development strategies` implementation need to focus on the relevance of intellectual capital`s formation, accumulation, use and evaluation. The article finds out that perceptual methods of intellectual capital assessment are mainly used. It is noted that current methods do not provide for monetary assessment of intellectual capital. They help to solve managerial tasks and allow to diagnose intangible resources of an enterprises. Local problems and attempts to assess intellectual capital have been highlighted. It has been made a conclusion about the need to intensify governmental role in legal framework development for comprehensive system of national intellectual capital assessment.

Abstract:
The article deals with the theoretical aspects of controlling in the enterprise management system. The paper proves the need to use the concept of controlling as an effective tool for enterprise management. The main reasons for the need to use controlling in enterprises are outlined. Recently, large enterprises have shown considerable interest in controlling as one of the systems of successful enterprise management. Studies at enterprises have shown that the use of controlling technology in the management process has increased the efficiency of management. Today, controlling is an effective management tool in enterprises. Based on the collected and analyzed available information, controlling allows to predict the future state. Controlling is becoming more and more important and necessary every day, because it allows you to adjust the plans and goals of the company to changing environmental conditions based on such predictions. Controlling allows you to constantly monitor the achievement of both strategic and operational goals of the enterprise. The scope of this concept is both the external and internal environment of the organization, and its main objectives include ensuring the stability of the enterprise, anti-crisis measures and prevention of bankruptcy. The main reasons for the need to use controlling in enterprises are outlined. The main functions and subsystems of controlling at the enterprise are defined. Controlling provides a methodological and instrumental framework to support the basic functions of management: planning, control, accounting and analysis, as well as assessment of the situation for management decisions. Controlling is designed to help the company effectively use the existing potential and create new conditions for successful operations in the future. Controlling in the strategic sphere acts as an "internal consultant" to senior management and owners of the business entity in setting strategic goals and objectives and their achievement. It is proved that the controlling system forms a system of effective enterprise management and provides coordination of the management system as a whole, which in turn reduces the time spent on management decisions.

Research capacity in two jurisdictions in tropical northwestern Australia was mapped to a searchable website. The website provides ready access to all research organisations in the region with the underlying database providing a baseline against which developments in research and research networks can be measured. Of 202 research entities entered into the database, 38 were businesses, 12 civil society organisations, five cooperative research centres, 10 government research institutes, 64 government agencies within three jurisdictions and 70 university research groups within seven universities. The data were analysed by sector to describe the size and linkages between organisations, areas of research strength and socioeconomic objectives of research. Most enterprises undertaking research in tropical Western Australia and the Northern Territory are small with the majority having fewer than 10 research staff. The primary area of expertise for research entities in tropical Western Australia and the Northern Territory is agricultural and environmental research, which is also the area where there is greatest breadth of capacity. Similarly, the socioeconomic objective of most research entities is in fields related to environmental management and social development with the breadth of capacity greatest in environmental policy frameworks. There were substantial differences between the skills and direction of research in government and the universities and those in business.

The main purpose of this article is to analyze the dissemination of social reports among entrepreneurs in order to determine the number of reporting organizations and examples in which Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) areas enterprises report. We analyze the dissemination of social reports among entrepreneurs in Poland and determine the number of reporting organizations and examples in which CSR companies report. This work is a guide for entrepreneurs in Poland to build strategies and activities for transparency and communicating good practice. One of the research goals was to identify and evaluate communication activities with stakeholders in terms of responsible activities, social and environmental. The data analysis comes from a detailed literature review and the Responsible Business Forum (FOB) Reports database for 2008–2019 in Poland. The results of the survey show that many entrepreneurs in Poland, representing small, medium-sized (SME), and even large enterprises underestimate the importance of socially responsible activities. Entrepreneurs communicate with stakeholders to a limited extent and are not informed about good practices. The vast majority of the surveyed enterprises, especially large ones, prepare social reports, which result from obligation: requirements of Directive 2014/95/EU. The SME sector shows a lack of knowledge and uses individual marketing communication tools to a limited extent, limiting itself to advertising activities (very few companies prepare social reports). The article is a practical tip for enterprises showing the impact of business on changes towards sustainable development. Originality/value lies in the fact that the article presents selected research results on various aspects related to social reporting and communicating social and environmental activities to stakeholders.

The article is devoted to one of the most important socio-economic categories - the social responsibility of business in the forestry sector. Forestry companies have been the target of public criticism for the mismanagement of forest resources, huge energy consumption, high exhaust emissions and water pollution. The forest industry faces challenges such as environmental safety, climate change and energy shortages. At the same time, it plays an important role in shaping sustainable development practices. With globalization and growing societal expectations for the sustainable use of forests, corporate social responsibility practices in the forest sector are gaining attention and increasing importance due to the environmentally sensitive nature of forest enterprises. CSR can help forestry companies improve stakeholder relationships, maintain legitimacy, achieve competitive advantage and ensure sustainable development. The article discusses the main aspects of social responsibility of business in the forest industry. Examples of implementation of CSR principles of forest companies of one of the server regions of Russia are given. It is shown that the social responsibility of forestry enterprises in the territories of presence as a tool for interaction between business, government and local communities is used only in subsidiaries of large federal companies. Small forest companies, on the other hand, have little incentive to support CSR principles. The fulfillment of social obligations for them is an exorbitant financial burden.

Abstract:
Previous studies present diverse views on carbon performance. The legitimacy perspective posits that external forces from a wide range of stakeholders drives environmental performance change, while the governance perspective posits that strong internal governance structure leads to performance improvement. This study empirically examines the validity of these different perspectives. Using data released by top polluting companies included in the Australian National Greenhouse and Energy Reports (NGER), the study finds that better governance structures are significantly associated with higher carbon performance, but there is no significant relationship between external carbon disclosure and carbon performance. The results suggest that future policy needs to focus more on ensuring strong corporate governance system and encouraging the integration of environmental aspects into governance agenda.

Calculations were made and the results of the study were tested on the basis of the leading confectionery enterprises of Ukraine. This made it possible to identify among the studied set of enterprises leaders who improved economic results and strengthened their market positions by reducing anthropogenic impact on the environment, introducing ecological management and corporate social responsibility. Taking into account their successful experience will contribute to the improvement of the ecological management system at other enterprises of the confectionery industry.

Abstract:
The article discusses the concept of sustainability in the fields of knowledge of the competitive strategies and of the environmental management, pointing rupture and convergence aspects among those theoretical traditions. The evolution of the perspective of sustainability is analyzed under the optics of the competitive strategies. After that, the authors analyze the theoretical-conceptual controversies of that concept in the environmental ield. The analysis is based on the presupposition that there are converging points between these two focuses, even because the practices of environmental management have been considered an object of study of the competitive strategies. However, for certain environmental currents the sustainability is viewed under perspectives that disable the articulation with activities and concepts linked to the business sphere. The article intends to present its more relevant contribution when discussing the impacts of the incorporation of variables of the environmental management to the concept of sustainability of the competitiveness. This procedure aims to enlarge the notion of sustainability in business enterprises.

Abstract:
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to explore target experiences of workplace bullying across Australia, India and Turkey, uncovering cross-cultural convergence and divergence. Design/methodology/approach – A questionnaire-based qualitative data survey of business school students with current/prior work experience (n=399) was undertaken. In total, 114 respondents (57 Australian, 34 Indian, 23 Turkish) identified themselves as targets of workplace bullying. Close-ended data pertaining to sociodemographic details were analysed via Statistical Package for the Social Sciences for descriptive statistics while open-ended data pertaining to experiences of bullying were thematically analysed against pre-figured categories derived from literature. Findings – Manifestations of, etiology of and coping with workplace bullying were similar across all three countries, highlighting cultural universals. Clear variations in source of bullying behaviour and availability and use of formal interventions as well as more subtle variations relating to coexistence with category-based harassment, outcomes and bystander behaviour underscored the influence of national culture. Research limitations/implications – Inclusion of a student population, notwithstanding their work experience, as well as reliance on the questionnaire as a tool pose limits in terms of external validity and communication congruence. Practical implications – Understanding into the similarities and differences of workplace bullying across cultures facilitates the design of interventions tailor-made for a particular society, serving as inputs for international/multi-national and offshored business enterprises. Originality/value – The study, focusing on multiple aspects of target experiences, not only draws on both dimensional and metaphorical cross-cultural frameworks but also includes geographically dispersed and socially diverse nations. Thus, it extends insights from previous cross-cultural explorations of workplace bullying which, apart from being few in number, are limited either by their frameworks, spatial range and/or thematic coverage.

Abstract:
The article defines the essence, role and significance of economic strategies in the context of integrating domestic market agents into the international business environment. The main aspects of defining the concept of "strategy" are studied, and on this basis, the effects and phenomena that are implemented in the general economic theory are described and formalized. Based on the identification of the category of "strategy" in the context of various scientific approaches, the correctness of the author's research methodology is proven. The potential and main problems faced in the process of working up economic strategies for the development of integrated enterprises are identified, as well as the main threats posed to the evolution of market agents as a result of incorrect choice of strategic management tools are outlined. The categories of "strategy - economic behaviour" have been formalized following the author's concept, which outlines key similarities and differences. The main features of economic strategies are formed and generalized. It is emphasized that the international business environment is actively used by domestic integrated enterprises as a channel for removing financial resources outside the country. Particular attention is paid to the negative consequences of tax minimization, including the cases of reinvoicing (change in the price of goods) under the conditions of using non-resident companies. Emphasis is given to the main ways of stopping dysfunctional economic processes. It is established that from the point of view of the destructiveness of economic processes, the corresponding dysfunctions of strategy formation are a direct consequence of unjustified liberalization of the legislation. It is defined that the institutional environment itself is one of the key factors of ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of undergoing a socio-economic change in the context of implementing strategies for the development of integrated enterprises. It is pointed out that the dysfunctions of economic reform, including the destructive models of economic behaviour of enterprises, have become, in fact, a natural consequence of thoughtless institutional changes.
