Abstract:
With a major proportion of research on Electronic Commerce (EC) undertaken on large corporations, and focused primarily on developed countries, little is known about the determinants of EC in Small and Mediumsized Enterprises (SMEs) of developing nations. This chapter explores the extent of EC use by SMEs, and provides some empirical evidence of how internal factors of firm and owner are influencing EC adoption among smaller businesses in Malaysia. The methodology and results of this study may be applicable to other developing countries. Findings confirm the low level of participation in EC by SMEs. The age of enterprise, as well as the owner’s gender and education were found to be significant in determining the level of EC adoption. Though some of the results contradict those of previous studies, they may have a greater implication for government authorities in drawing up guidelines, approaches, and formulating more effective frameworks to promote EC use among SMEs in developing countries.

Abstract:
The presence of hypermarkets with modern retail format has impacted the performance of retail small medium-enterprises (SMEs) in Malaysia. The challenges of remaining competitive and the ability to sustain the business have pushed many retail SMEs to cease operations within a short period after commencement. Despite these challenges, retail SMEs can still attain competitive advantage through the strategies of strengthening and maintaining business relationships with their social networks. This study postulates that fostering social networks, specifically on the notion of homophily or similarities among social network members, is able to lure valuable resources needed by retail SMEs in achieving superior business performance. Unfortunately, only few studies have focused on social networks from within the Asian context and many tend to overlook the importance of social networks specifically in retailing. This study also suggests the relationship between value and status similarities of retail SMEs and their ability to coordinate efforts in horizontal relationships. Therefore, this study extends the discussion on the role of social networks towards better business performance of retail SMEs in Malaysia by conceptualizing a framework indicating the importance of value and status homophily on coordination of activities leading to business performance of retail SMEs.

Abstract:
In innovative eras, business models (BMs) are the key factor driving business success. However, implementing innovative BMs is time-consuming and high-risk. Therefore, conducting BM feasibility evaluations after their initial design is important, but some unsolved problems remain in the assessment of the feasibility of BMs. Deciding whether to implement innovative BMs is difficult for all enterprises. The business model canvas (BMC) methodology has been widely adopted by enterprises that are designing innovative BMs. This study proposes a BMC-based feasibility evaluation method geared towards SMEs or new entrepreneurs. The study verifies the proposed method by designing BMs for a non-profit organization and an innovative coffee shop. The rationality of each dimension of the two BMs is calculated to generate a radar chart, and based on the results, advantages and disadvantages are discussed. The proposed method can be used to guide designers of innovative for-profit and non-profit BMs in evaluating feasibility and identifying strengths and weaknesses in each BM block.

Abstract:
The existence of hypermarkets and supermarkets with modern retail format has affected the performance of many retailers in the category of small medium enterprises (SMEs) in Malaysia. In this era of disruptive marketing, the main challenges of retail SMEs are the ability to survive, to remain competitive and to sustain the business. With the challenges of finding the right strategies to compete effectively, there is now an inclination to look at social networks as means of establishing strong market presence. Engaging and maintaining social networks in their business relationships is essential for retail SMEs if they want to address strategic positions and subsequently build strong competitive advantage in the business. This study postulates that establishing social networks, specifically in terms of propinquity (related with network cluster, network centrality and geographic proximity) among social network members, will enable the gathering of important resources needed by retail SMEs to secure more sustainable competitive advantage. However, only few studies have focused on social networks especially from the Asian context and many have overlooked the importance of social networks in retailing. This study also suggests the need to focus on coordination in relation to propinquity of social networks which refers to the location of retail SMEs and their ability to coordinate efforts to gain competitive advantage. This study extends the literature on social networks by providing a conceptual framework describing the importance of propinquity on coordination of activities leading to the development of competitive advantage for retail SMEs.

Abstract:
Business management is an important part of social service and governance. With the development of economy and technology, the pressure on enterprises to participate in the market competition is gradually increasing. Therefore, it is particularly important to establish an information-based business management system. However, there are still many problems in the process of informatization development of enterprise business management, which seriously restricts the comprehensive development of enterprises. On the one hand, the existing business management information system lacks effective security and supervision links. On the other hand, there is a lack of professional information technology personnel within the enterprise. Machine learning is a discipline that specializes in how to simulate human learning behavior, and it can continuously learn new knowledge structures to make itself progress and develop. The development of enterprise business management informatization is consistent with the development direction of machine learning itself. Therefore, this paper proposes a business management informatization construction method based on a machine learning algorithm, which aims to further promote the development of enterprises in the direction of informatization and modernization and improve the informatization level of enterprises. Experiments show that with the support of machine learning technology, the level of enterprise business management informatization can reach 82.31%, fully indicating that machine learning can help enterprises innovate management models and improve the level of information management of enterprises.

Abstract:
With the rise and gradual development of the Internet, today's era has been transformed into the information age. The network transaction mode has involved all levels. At the same time, a new business model is gradually emerging, that is, e-commerce enterprises. Compared with the traditional business model, e-commerce enterprises are more information technology, networking, and convenience. In the current cross-border e-commerce enterprise development model, e-commerce enterprise performance evaluation and application have always been a key concern. Based on the lag of performance calculation and analysis of cross-border e-commerce enterprises, this paper carries out experimental analysis by combining the in-depth learning model. The results of the experiment are as follows: (1) it analyzes the growth situation of overseas Internet sales enterprises, determines the research direction of the experiment, puts forward the construction principles of the performance index system of overseas Internet sales enterprises, and constructs the performance evaluation system of overseas Internet sales enterprises according to the principles, to ensure the reliability of data and effectiveness of performance accounting. (2) On the basis of retaining the traditional performance calculation and evaluation mode of cross-border e-commerce enterprises, the in-depth learning mode is integrated into the performance evaluation process of overseas Internet sales enterprises. Using the in-depth learning mathematical algorithm combined with the enterprise performance calculation algorithm of cross-border e-commerce enterprises can not only ensure the effectiveness of performance calculation but also classify more quickly, facilitate the later use, and reduce the pressure on business enterprise enterprises.

Abstract:
Enterprise economy refers to the comprehensive situation reflected in the gross product, production scale, total production and efficiency, technological content, marketing means, and so on; under certain social conditions, enterprises use resources obtained by law to engage in economic activities. Under the guidance of consciousness or culture, enterprises use “legally obtained resources” to promote economic development. Enterprise economy is affected by manpower, capital, management, operation, policy, and other aspects. In the context of the rapid development of big data in the current era, this paper proposes a prediction model of enterprise economic activity behavior based on neural network and ARIMA by investigating a variety of artificial intelligence models and verifies its feasibility. Commodity circulation enterprises have a more urgent demand for the development of business audit due to their operation characteristics. Therefore, this paper takes commodity circulation enterprises as representatives and predicts business audit in the big data environment based on the model proposed in this paper.

Abstract:
In the new economic situation, enterprises formally enter the transition period of “think power differentiation and gap,” big data, artificial intelligence, digital empowerment, and other new digital economy has a positive effect on improving technical means and reducing operating costs, but the digital economy also forces enterprises to improve their strategies at a multiplier speed. The strategic decision of enterprises is to de-enterprise, from pursuing a single business operation benefit to winning competitive advantage by creating a platform ecosystem; the enterprise organization management mode is shifting from vertical management to horizontal collaborative management, and the organization structure is developing dynamically flat. This requires enterprises to pay attention to the role of data analysis in daily operations and management, promote the establishment of a data-driven corporate culture, make full use of digital technology, modularize production links or departments with similar functions or services, and promote the transformation of organizational structure. By unifying the output of products or services to the outside world; at the same time, improve the corporate performance model, shift from result-oriented to process-oriented assessment, and implement a personalized, authority, and accountability system. Abstract:
This paper adopts the analysis method of big data to conduct an in-depth analysis and research on the sustainable development mechanism of enterprises, firstly, combing the content and methods of enterprise business performance evaluation, defining enterprise sustainable development, and exploring the integration of enterprise sustainable development and enterprise business performance evaluation by specifically analyzing from different perspectives. Then, we analyze the industry in which the enterprise is located, its business situation, and strategy, and after analyzing the current business performance evaluation system of the enterprise, we point out its problems. The current performance evaluation system is incomplete, focuses only on economic benefits, is not long term, and does not consider the company’s strategy and stakeholders’ needs, which affects its importance and feasibility. Then, the above analysis is integrated to build a performance evaluation system consisting of four dimensions, namely, economic dimension, scientific research and innovation dimension, social dimension, and ecological dimension, from the perspective of sustainable development, and a total of 29 indicators are selected. Then, the two research tools of first value method and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method were combined, based on the panel data of enterprises from 2016 to 2020; the first value method was used to get the weights of each indicator in the business performance evaluation system. The fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method was used to get a comprehensive evaluation score of enterprise’s business performance in 2019, and then the evaluation results were analyzed in detail and suggestions were made, which confirms that enterprises are based on the sustainable development perspective. The evaluation of business performance is necessary and important. Finally, we propose supporting safeguards, such as establishing a performance evaluation team and a monitoring mechanism, dynamically improving the enterprise performance evaluation system, establishing a sustainable corporate culture, preparing and publishing a sustainable development report, and accelerating the information construction of performance evaluation.

ABSTRACT This paper describes a metamodel and notation for value delivery business process modeling, describing value delivery as flows of possession, ownership, and availability of economic resources between economic agents, value creation, and consumption, and a transfer of resources between agents' repositories. The motivation of the solution was to refine the REA ontology by replacing the generic concept of change in an economic resource with more specific concepts of change in ownership, change in possession, and change in the availability of an economic resource. The concepts of possession and ownership map directly to the same concepts in property law. The expressive power of the POA model covers traditional accounting, the REA ontology, and value networks. A POA model has the graphical notation and semantic precision that is required for model-driven design of ERP applications, supply chain applications, and enterprise information systems.

Abstract:
The current study built and empirically tested a model of the relationships between selected organisational variables, Organisational Learning (OL) capability and performance in the context of small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Malaysia. Theoretical advances in the OL domain have been based on the experiences of large organisations in the western hemisphere. In response, the study focuses on analysing the OL capability of SMEs in a transitional economy, namely Malaysia. Structural equation modeling was applied to analyse the datasets from 256 manufacturing and services SMEs. Statistical results showed that entrepreneurial orientation and human-capital development practices have direct positive effects on SMEs' OL capability. It was further found that human-capital development practices mediated the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and OL capability. This implied that while entrepreneurial orientation fosters the need for a strong OL capability, human-capital development practices serve as the mechanisms for developing such capability. Lastly, empirical evidence was provided to support the notion that OL capability enhances the performance of SMEs.

Abstract:
Due to the explosive growth of massive consumption data, the traditional marketing model of enterprises has become stretched. The rapid advancement of data mining technology has given new impetus to the innovation of the marketing strategies of enterprises, promoting the progressive transformation of enterprises from traditional passive marketing to precise and refined marketing. Data mining technology’s basic task is to analyze data, acquire insight into cause and effect, and then predict the future. As a result, the technology is coupled with the enterprises’ marketing activities, and a precise marketing model is built using big data consumption. This will aid in the comprehensive and three-dimensional description of customers, as well as the analysis of potential customers’ attributes, to give a scientific basis for the formulation and implementation of precise data-driven decision-making for enterprises. As a result, our study enhances and optimizes the K-means algorithm in combination with the artificial bee colony algorithm aiming at fixing the issue that the K-means algorithm is sensitive to cluster center initialization and improving the enterprise precision marketing model’s clustering performance. In the precise marketing scenario of the telecom business, the improved K-means clustering model is utilized to realize the analysis and prediction of telecom customers, as well as to carry out precise marketing based on the predicted findings. Finally, the optimized K-means clustering algorithm can objectively and comprehensively reflect the characteristics of telecom customer value segmentation, efficiently mining future clients and preventing blind marketing by enterprises, based on the model's actual verification results. Simultaneously, it provides substantial data support for telecom enterprises’ resource planning, as well as pointing out the next step in increasing market share.

Abstract:
With the fast development of intelligent data-mining technologies, some advanced artificial intelligence approaches are widely developed and employed to help the decision-making of enterprises and government. The application of advanced and intelligent approaches successfully helps the enterprises and government find out the valuable information hidden in the massive economic data. This study presents a novel data-driven approach to forecast the short-term business climate using the electric power consumption data of large enterprises. In addition, the climate conditions, interactions between different industries, the business cycle, and some other related variables are also considered and included in the developed forecasting model. To be specific, the business climate prediction model based on support vector machine (SVM) is proposed firstly, and the human-simulated particle swarm optimization algorithm (HSPSO) in our previous work is employed to optimize the parameters of the developed forecasting model. Secondly, a novel power-consumption-based business climate index (BCI) system is developed and comprehensively analyzed. The developed BCI system that contains the index for each separate industry (BCI-I), the index for tertiary industry (BCI-T), the index for secondary industry (BCI-S), and the index for the entire province (BCI-P) is proposed. In addition, the developed BCI system is employed to normalize the output of SVM-based forecasting model to directly indicate the business climate, which is very important to the decision-making of enterprises and government under the background of smart cities. Finally, the real data of Guangdong province in China, including the gross output values (GOV) and detailed power consumptions of more than 38000 enterprises, are employed to test the proposed approach. Experimental results show that the GOV of each industry and the whole society predicted by HSPSO-SVM matches the real data well. Moreover, the predicted BCI can directly indicate the business climate in advance, which is of great value for economic-decision and policy-making of both enterprises and government.

Abstract:
Driven by capital and Internet information (IT) technology, the operating scale and capital scale of modern industrial and commercial enterprises and various organizations have increased exponentially. At present, the manual-based financial work model has been unable to adapt to the changing speed of the modern business environment and the business rhythm of enterprises. All kinds of enterprises and organizations, especially large enterprises, urgently need to improve the operational efficiency of financial systems. By enhancing the integrity, timeliness, and synergy of financial information, it improves the comprehensiveness and ability of analyzing complex problems in financial analysis. It can cope with such rapid changes and help improve the financial management capabilities of enterprises. It provides more valuable decision-making guidance for business operations and reduces business risks. In recent years, the vigorous development of artificial intelligence technology has provided a feasible solution to meet the urgent needs of enterprises. Combining data mining, deep learning, image recognition, natural language processing, knowledge graph, human-computer interaction, intelligent decision-making, and other artificial intelligence technologies with IT technology to transform financial processes, it can significantly reduce the processing time of repetitive basic financial processes, reduce the dependence on manual accounting processing, and improve the work efficiency of the financial department. Through the autonomous analysis and decision-making of artificial intelligence, the intelligentization of financial management is realized, and more accurate and effective financial decision-making support is provided for enterprises. This paper studies the company’s intelligent financial reengineering process, so as to provide reference and reference for other enterprises to upgrade similar financial systems. The results of the analysis showed that at the level of α = 0.05 , there was a significant difference in the mean between the two populations. When the r value is in the range of -1 and 1, the linear relationship between the x and y variables is more obvious. This paper proposes decision-making suggestions and risk control early warning to the group decision-making body, or evaluates the financial impact of the group’s decision-making, and opens the road to financial intelligence.

Abstract:
KM principles often apply to large companies (more than 200 employees), where issues of general management and skill sets, as well as resources, often require comprehensive and multi-department solutions. However, many small businesses experience the same issues of knowledge sharing and management, but may find boundaries in the development and implementation of programs. How can small- to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) benefit from KM principles? What areas in the traditional literature immediately apply, and what boundaries arise? Often encompassing multiple roles, managerial practices, and efforts in microcosm, how can these smaller companies provide the structure and impact needed to make KM principles work for them? This work analyses the problems that small businesses face in the collection, dissemination, and storage of company knowledge, including issues of technology, communities of practice, and "stickiness" for best-practice goals. The definitions of small business, as outlined by the European Commission and U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), will serve as a useful tool for scope and discussion. This research will explore three key classifications of traits — structural or systemic, communication, and qualitative — through a review of the areas in which the challenges of small businesses, because of their size, imply somewhat different approaches to KM.

Abstract:
During the last years there has been a growing need of developing innovative tools that can help small to medium sized enterprises to predict business failure as well as financial crisis. In this study we present a novel hybrid intelligent system aimed at monitoring the modus operandi of the companies and predicting possible failures. This system is implemented by means of a neural-based multi-agent system that models the different actors of the companies as agents. The core of the multi-agent system is a type of agent that incorporates a case-based reasoning system and automates the business control process and failure prediction. The stages of the case-based reasoning system are implemented by means of web services: the retrieval stage uses an innovative weighted voting summarization of self-organizing maps ensembles-based method and the reuse stage is implemented by means of a radial basis function neural network. An initial prototype was developed and the results obtained related to small and medium enterprises in a real scenario are presented.

Abstract:
With the continued economic downturn, coupled with the slowdown of domestic economic development and fierce market competition, the development of small and medium-sized enterprises has become more and more difficult. Because the financial background and operating strength of small and medium-sized enterprises are far inferior to large-scale enterprises, coupled with the influence of global economic integration, many small and medium-sized enterprises have gradually closed down. Therefore, exploring the entropy coupling algorithm is of great significance to the role of corporate leadership strategy management. This paper studies the coupling conditions and coupling process of corporate strategy and business model, builds a new coupling model, and goes deep into the coupling model to study the cooperation mechanism between its internal modules and initially builds the company to break through the two major dilemmas at the same time. This paper uses entropy theory to evaluate corporate leadership strategy, constructs an evaluation index system based on entropy, determines the weight of each index, and calculates the entropy value. This paper uses the alpha coefficient to test the reliability of the questionnaire. The value range of α coefficient is [0, 1], and different values represent different reliability. Large enterprises as a whole are mostly in the highly coupled (41.80%) and moderately coupled (27.34%) stages; medium-sized enterprises as a whole are mostly in the highly coupled (39.50%) and moderately coupled (31.50%) stages; small enterprises as a whole are mostly in the moderately coupled (39.50%) and moderately coupled (40.72%), low coupling (33.20%), and high coupling (25.9%) stages; microenterprises as a whole are mostly in the low coupling (43.70%), moderate coupling (36.41%), and high coupling (30.51%) stages. The results show that the entropy coupling algorithm can improve the deficiencies in the leadership strategy and provide a practical and reliable path for carrying out leadership development projects.

Enterprise is an indispensable factor of production in the country’s economic and social development, and the operation of the enterprise is indispensable. The development of strategic operation of the enterprise is facing many problems, and the survival of the enterprise is facing serious threats. The purpose of this article is to study the method of establishing a reliable enterprise strategic management system based on GPRS wireless communication and neural network. Let the company continue to grow in a sustainable and healthy way. This article puts forward the importance of corporate strategic management under GPRS wireless communication. Strategic business management can improve the foresight and initiative of enterprises, overcome short-term behaviour, and provide a clear direction for the development of the enterprise. In the experimental data of this article, it can be seen from 2016 that the demand for talent management by enterprises is lower than that in 2019. By 2019, enterprises will have the demand is as high as 85.3%, so enterprise management development needs should be taken seriously. The error between the actual output of the network and the expected output is controlled within 5%, which shows that the established neural network has a good evaluation effect and can be used to evaluate the talents of business operators. This also shows that the established BP neural network can fully absorb the judgment experience of experts and the actual employment of enterprises. The results show that the evaluation results obtained according to the evaluation network model have certain guiding significance for the selection and assessment of employers and the self-evaluation of management talents.

Abstract:
Firms’ privacy protection strategies are affected by multiple factors. This study adopted a configurational perspective to examine how regulation policy environment, market structure, and the heterogeneity among enterprises affect their privacy protection policies. Using a fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis of Chinese listed platform enterprises, we found that three configuration conditions were associated with enterprises formulating a privacy policy with a high level of protection and two configuration conditions were associated with enterprises formulating a privacy policy with a low level of protection. The results showed that privacy protection laws were a necessary condition to ensure that enterprises actively exercised privacy protection. Coordinated regulation systems based on the Personal Information Protection Law and industry standards are recommended as the best practice to safeguard privacy protection in China. As lack of competition can result in two polarized privacy protection strategies, regulatory policies should emphasize the balance between data protection and encouraging necessary data sharing. Furthermore, the conjunctive effect between market structure and business models affected privacy policy formulation, which suggests that the positive effects of users’ rational choices in a competitive market should be further reinforced.

Abstract:
Today’s business competitiveness necessitates the capacity of all company players, particularly small and medium enterprises (SMEs), to enter a broader market through information technology. However, the Lasem Batik SMEs have endured a great deal of turmoil during the COVID-19 pandemic. Marketing has been conducted through physical and internet channels, but the results have not been maximized. The purpose of this research was to consider the possibilities of Lasem Batik SMEs adopting metaverse technology as a marketing medium to enhance sales. The investigation was conducted on 40 Lasem Batik SMEs who met the requirements of using online media to sell their products, having a medium-sized firm, and displaying marketing that has reached the provincial level. The findings of this study are as follows: (1) The majority of participants stated that the metaverse is a virtual 3D space. This understanding is deepened by discussions about virtual 3D spaces that combine VR and AR, which today is often referred to as the metaverse. (2) Batik business owners hope that by using the metaverse, they will be able to obtain many benefits, especially related to market expansion. (3) Lasem Batik SMEs show great interest in expanding their marketing channels to a wider area; Lasem Batik entrepreneurs also accept the challenge of studying the metaverse with new knowledge and techniques they have never considered. (4) Overall, 75% of participants were ready to use the metaverse, and 25% still required guidance. (5) Local communities, universities, and large corporations provide great support for the use of the metaverse. (6) The commercial success of Lasem Batik SMEs is defined by product quality; ongoing online and offline advertising; originality and innovation; and the capacity to capitalize on possibilities, retain local wisdom, and preserve strong customer connections. The main conclusion is that the readiness of batik entrepreneurs to use the metaverse is highly dependent on the support of various parties. A strong desire to progress and develop one’s business is the main factor determining one’s intention to use the metaverse. As a result of the research, a prototype of a metaverse platform for Lasem Batik exhibitions has been developed. SMEs can use the room template provided by the platform and join other SMEs to hold a metaverse exhibition to attract global customers. These results can be connected to create a metaverse exhibition to attract global customers.

Abstract:
A small but growing body of evidence (SBS, 2004; Beckinsale & Ram, 2006) has indicated that Ethnic Minority Businesses (EMBs) have not adopted Information Communication Technology (ICT) at comparable rates to their non-EMB counterparts predominantly Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs). With EMBs accounting for almost 10% of businesses in the UK the economic impact as ICT adoption continues to further develop across mainstream markets could be highly significant. Existing UK ICT policies have also failed to engage with EMBs until the NW ICT Adoption Pilot in 2004. The current, limited body of research is fragmented, provides limited understanding and coherence on reasons of low ICT adoption and lacks exemplars upon which policy considerations may be made. Firstly, the chapter will examine and review the existing body of literature. Secondly, EMB cases that have developed ICT to a degree where they are engaging in eBusiness activity are analysed and discussed. The findings provide a number of options and guidance for EMB owners. Finally, the recommendations point to the need for improved ICT awareness, better business support provision nationally and the importance of generation and education as key drivers.
