The sophistication of information and communication technology (ICT) especially in the field of internet is very supportive and easier to find information by using a web browser as a medium, one of the utilization of information and communication technology (ICT) is an online discussion forum as access to discuss various things. Discussion forums active role as a communication medium that exists with the purpose of giving opinions, motivation, solutions, and information related to the ongoing discussion in the forum. Along with the development of non-formal learning methods, discussion forums are now made by several campuses in Indonesia, which aims to provide solutions to the students to be more active in asking and able to provide accurate answers or opinions thus indirectly the discussion forum turned into a place of learning non- formal distance can be done without face to face (ilearning learning methods). The problem is access to the previous discussion forum where discussions are time limitations in the delivery time, require each member to take the time to meet face to face and also requires that each member be in one (1) point for the purpose of exchanging information. Online discussion forums is an efficient solution is flexible and does not remember much each member has the same time, by making use of information and communication technology (ICT) is one of the colleges make online discussion forums as a forum of discussion among students, faculty and staff at the college incorporated as members so that the members can ask questions and provide solutions, and argue about related questions to give you an idea - an idea that is easy to understand that is packaged specifically for non-learning activities fomal online and without a time bound access. RhjFox is a communication medium in the form of active online discussion forum developed by the university, with a discussion of the division of the categories created to facilitate the members to interact and search for information on the desired topic of discussion in the discussion forum. Currently, local area network (LAN) is commonplace in the Nigerian tertiary institutions and can be a good platform for distributing and disseminating instructional materials. Thus, this paper proposes to improve the quality of academics through online provision of learning resources based on Free and Open Source Software (FOSS); wired and wireless access to contents; and availability of the system 24/7. The system is based on third party software or FOSS called phpBB and Windows 2003 Server Active Directory Services. Both are installed and configured on an intranet. It has a discussion forum which is accessed through Hypertext Transfer Protocol using a web browser; and directory services for files/folders upload and download based on a set of privilege levels in Discretionary Access Control List (DACL) as a way of improving security. The system leads to the development of a virtual campus in Covenant University. Also, it has helpedimprove the quality of teaching by making lecture notes availably on the intranet, lecturer/studentinteraction, accessibility to teaching materials and reduce student’s idle time. The system helps in no small measure to correct the problems plaguing the educational sector such as examination malpractice, decline standards of education and cultism, as students are gainfully engaged in academic and social activities. The creation of a virtual campus would enhance the level of e-participation, and e-readiness of the graduate for the employment market. In particular, it bridges the divide between the developed and the developing nations.

This study investigated the use of (im)politeness and disagreement in online discussion forums among English speakers and English as a foreign language (EFL) learners. It also explored how internet forum browsers judge (im)politeness and parameters of relational work ((in)appropriateness and negatively/positively marked behaviour) in disagreement. Three hundred and sixty disagreement responses were analysed following a list of disagreement strategies. The most frequent strategy applied by English speakers was 'making scornful and humiliating statements', while EFL learners used 'showing unmitigated disagreement' and 'showing smileys' as the highest and lowest ones. Most of the strategies used by English speakers were judged as polite and appropriate, but neither negatively nor positively marked, while 13 types of EFL strategies were considered as polite, but neither appropriate and positively marked nor inappropriate and negatively marked. Further, the three parameters had positive relationships with one another. This study provides worthwhile information for improving teaching communication skills in EFL courses.

On an average, these online health-care providers are mainly focusing on reviews aboutthe physicians. The feedback provided by patients is considered and we also analyze the sentiments of the patient to estimate the value of the reviews.The rating for the doctors is divided into various categories such as Staff, Knowledge, and Helpfulness. The scientific article is devoted to the coverage of the administrative procedure for providing electronic services by the State Architectural and Construction Inspectorate of Ukraine. Different approaches to the concept of administrative procedure in terms of e-services provision are discussed. The stages of the procedure of providing electronic service in the form of submission of a declaration (notification) by individuals are characterized. It is established that before commencing the process of submission of the declaration (message), the service consumer must have a personal key and a valid enhanced certificate, which will be used during the submission process to affix an electronic digital signature to the form with the declaration (message). You can obtain enhanced key certificates at an accredited key certification center. Thus, at the moment the service supports certificates issued by the certification center of the information and reference department of the Ministry of Revenue and Collections of Ukraine. Install a Java computing software package on your computer and enable JavaScript scripts to run in your browser. Background Opioid use disorder presents a public health issue afflicting millions across the globe. There is a pressing need to understand the opioid supply chain to gain new insights into the mitigation of opioid use and effectively combat the opioid crisis. The role of anonymous online marketplaces and forums that resemble eBay or Amazon, where anyone can post, browse, and purchase opioid commodities, has become increasingly important in opioid trading. Therefore, a greater understanding of anonymous markets and forums may enable public health officials and other stakeholders to comprehend the scope of the crisis. However, to the best of our knowledge, no large-scale study, which may cross multiple anonymous marketplaces and is cross-sectional, has been conducted to profile the opioid supply chain and unveil characteristics of opioid suppliers, commodities, and transactions. Objective We aimed to profile the opioid supply chain in anonymous markets and forums via a large-scale, longitudinal measurement study on anonymous market listings and posts. Toward this, we propose a series of techniques to collect data; identify opioid jargon terms used in the anonymous marketplaces and forums; and profile the opioid commodities, suppliers, and transactions. Methods We first conducted a whole-site crawl of anonymous online marketplaces and forums to solicit data. We then developed a suite of opioid domain–specific text mining techniques (eg, opioid jargon detection and opioid trading information retrieval) to recognize information relevant to opioid trading activities (eg, commodities, price, shipping information, and suppliers). Subsequently, we conducted a comprehensive, large-scale, longitudinal study to demystify opioid trading activities in anonymous markets and forums. Results A total of 248,359 listings from 10 anonymous online marketplaces and 1,138,961 traces (ie, threads of posts) from 6 underground forums were collected. Among them, we identified 28,106 opioid product listings and 13,508 opioid-related promotional and review forum traces from 5147 unique opioid suppliers’ IDs and 2778 unique opioid buyers’ IDs. Our study characterized opioid suppliers (eg, activeness and cross-market activities), commodities (eg, popular items and their evolution), and transactions (eg, origins and shipping destination) in anonymous marketplaces and forums, which enabled a greater understanding of the underground trading activities involved in international opioid supply and demand. Conclusions The results provide insight into opioid trading in the anonymous markets and forums and may prove an effective mitigation data point for illuminating the opioid supply chain.

Francília (Francisca Possolo) e Sóror Dolores (Maria Browne) foram duas poetisas portuguesas que trataram da ‘traição’ masculina em seus poemas. Ambas foram traídas por homens que amavam e demonstram que isto desencadeou uma mudança na forma como escrevem sua poesia e viviam suas vidas.Neste trabalho pretende-se analisar a obra destas duas autoras portuguesas, uma de Lisboa e outra do Porto, com o propósito de compreender suas opiniões relacionadas a masculinidade e a imagem criada por elas dos homens seus contemporâneos.

A nossa abordagem centra-se na problemática do pacifismo e educação, em Portugal, no século XXI. Consideramos o ciberespaço como arena para a sua constituição como problema social. Após pesquisas exploratórias identificámos as expressões “pacifismo e educação”, “educação e pacifismo” e “educação para a paz” como ponto de partida para a constituição de um acervo documental. A pesquisa realizou-se na web 2.0, mobilizando como browser, o Chrome, e com recurso a um motor de busca, o Google. Como restrições estabeleceram-se a localização (Portugal) e a língua (português). As fontes foram sujeitas a análise documental com recurso ao método crítico. O estudo permitiu-nos: caracterizar a diversidade de fontes em presença e as audiências a que se destinam; identificar organizações e atores, argumentos, diferentes posicionamentos e objetivos; elaborar uma leitura compreensiva da educação para a paz, em Portugal, como problema socioeducativo.

Certificate Authorities (CAs) carry a huge responsibility in today's internet security landscape as they issue certificates that establish secure end-to-end connections. This thesis conducts a policy review and survey of CAs' Certificate Policies and Certificate Practice Statements to find similarities and differences that could lead to possible vulnerabilities. Based on this, the thesis then presents a taxonomy-based analysis as well as comparisons of the top CAs to the Baseline Requirements. The main areas of the policies that were focused on are the issuance, revocation and expiration practices of the top 30 CAs as determined by the use of Tranco's list. We also determine the top CA groups, meaning the CAs whose policies are being used by the most other CAs as well as including a top 100 CAs list. The study suggests that the most popular CAs hold such a position because of two main reasons: they are easy to acquire and/or because they are connected to several other CAs. The results suggest that some of the biggest vulnerabilities in the policies are what the CAs do not mention in any section as it puts the CA at risk for vulnerabilities. The results also suggest that the most dangerous attacks are social engineering attacks, as some of the stipulations for issuance and revocations make it possible to pretend to be the entity of subscribes to the certificate rather than a malicious one.

There are many networks of transport and communication that cross national borders, but the Internets infrastructure has been designed to do so with unusual subtlety. As a result, public policy issues raised in governance of the Internet tend to be inherently transnational in nature. This makes the legitimacy of a purely domestic legal approach to Internet governance questionable. The fact that conflicting domestic regimes may interfere with each other, and may clash with the transnational cultural and technical architecture of the Internet, further complicates an approach to governance based around legal rules. But on the other hand more traditional and decentralised mechanisms of Internet governance such as norms, markets and architecture suffer their own deficits of both legitimacy and effectiveness.
Governance by multi-stakeholder network conceptually provides a solution in that it brings together each of the other mechanisms of governance and the stakeholders by whom they are commonly employed. Such a multi-stakeholder approach has begun to permeate (and in some issue areas even to supersede) the existing international system, as partially evidenced in the Internet governance regime by reforms that took root at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) and have begun to find expression in its product, the Internet Governance Forum (IGF).
Governance by network does not however emerge spontaneously, but requires supportive institutional structures and processes. To maximise the legitimacy and effectiveness of these, and to ensure their interoperability both with the international system and with the architecture of the Internet, requires a balance to be struck between the anarchistic and consensual organisational models typified by native Internet governance institutions such as the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), and hierarchical and democratic models drawn from governmental and private sector examples and from the study of deliberative democracy.
As an early experiment in multi-stakeholder governance by network, the Internet Governance Forum does not quite strike the correct balance: its hierarchical structure under the leadership of the United Nations is incompatible with its multi-stakeholder democratic ambitions, and more importantly it lacks the institutional capacity to fulfil its mandate to contribute to public policy development.
This can largely be redressed by reforming the IGFs plenary body, and its online analogue, as venues for democratic deliberation, subject to the oversight of an executive body or bureau to which each stakeholder group appoints its own representatives, and which is responsible for ratifying any decisions of the larger group by consensus. In particular, requiring this bureau to broker consensus between stakeholder groups (as in a consociation), rather than just amongst its members at large, can assist to diminish the power games that have limited the IGF to date.

The oil shortages and price rises of the 1970s led to a broad spectrum of policies designed to save fuel in transport. One such group of policies concentrated on utilising the longstanding observation that congestion-free driving improves vehicular fuel economy. In particular, improving the average speed of urban traffic was believed to reduce urban fuel use. Strategies to create free-flowing traffic networks through traffic engineering and management techniques became an integral part of most transport energy conservation strategies. At the same time urban systems studies were appearing which suggested that urban land use factors are fundamental in determining transport energy demand. Some cities with denser, more centralised developnent patterns and congested traffic systems appeared to have lower per capita transport energy use than cities with low density, dispersed land use and free-flowing traffic networks. Conflicts thus began to be recognised between these land use studies and the traffic studies but they were never systematically examined.
This thesis focuses on explaining and attempting to resolve these apparent conflicts by drawing out the relative importance of freeflowing, fuel efficient traffic and broader land use/transport factors in determining urban system fuel efficiency. It does this by showing how a holistic understanding of transport energy use can be achieved by recognising the different levels of know1edge involved and by integrating research a t all these levels. Adopting this approach, a detailed examination is made of transport energy use in Perth, Western Australia. Spatial and temporal patterns of urban driving and vehicular fuel consumption are derived using a computer-instrumented vehicle within a framework of urban ecology. These patterns are described in detail and are found to be understandable in terms of a simple model of intersection and vehicle-based traffic events. Using this simple model, urban driving and fuel consumption patterns are then systematically linked back to their urban ecological framework. Centrality, as expressed by urban activity intensity emerges as the major underlying factor in both the urban ecological framework and driving patterns. Driving cycles for central to outer areas as well as the whole city are produced and a detailed examination is made of driving cycle development procedures, including the issue of data resolution. Two new methods of driving cycle synthesis are formulated.
Driving cycles together with travel survey and land use/transport model data are then used to estimate spatial differences in transport energy use per capita within the urban ecological framework. This case study is used to test two conceptual models of transport energy conservation implied by the traffic and land use studies: a linear assumptions model which suggests reductions in urban system fuel use through freer-flowing traffic and a feedback assumptions model which introduces some possible broader system effects of free-flowing and congested traffic. The results suggest very strong support for the feedback model and a reversal of the linear model. Urban structural factors such as distance from the CBD and density are found to be the major explanatory factors of Perth's transport energy use. The much higher vehicular fuel consumption in Perth's inner areas due to restricted traffic flows are completely offset by energy conserving land use and transport features which result in lower per capita energy use in these areas; the lower vehicular fuel consumption in uncongested outer areas is swamped by land use factors which result in longer travel distances and less use of energy conserving modes, resulting in markedly higher per capita energy use, i .e. a trade-off is found between a fuel efficient traffic system and a fuel efficient urban system. It is concluded that policies which propose fuel savings from "blanket" improvements in urban trraffic flow, such as major road building programmes will be counter-productive, while urban planning policies which encourage higher density, more compact cities will tend to lower energy use. It is suggested that a key area of research is now how to combine selective traffic system improvements with urban land use policies so that both may work in concert to produce a more fuel efficient urban system.

The trade of shipping is necessarily international in nature. Courts and international bodies often
express the need to ensure international consistency in matters of maritime law. However, it has
been an extremely difficult goal to achieve. Many countries have refused to be party to international
conventions that seek to ensure comity. Some have enacted laws that reflect part but not all of those
conventions, or seek to improve the protection offered by the conventions. The domestic law of each
country also adds its own flavour to shipping law as recognised and applied by the courts in that
jurisdiction.
In 1974 Australia enacted the Trade Practices Act 1974 (Cth) (TPA), heralding a new era in
corporate and commercial law. However, its impact on maritime law on Australia has only been felt
over the last 10 15 years. It is potentially relevant to many areas of maritime law, including
carriage of goods by sea, cruise ships, and towage. This thesis explores the encroachment of the
TPA on a number of different areas of shipping law, using the few case examples on offer and
extrapolating the impact that the TPA may have. It also considers the extent to which the TPA is
stymied by simple contractual agreements to litigate or arbitrate in a non Australian forum, despite
the TPAs status as a mandatory statute within Australia.
Raised at various points in the thesis is the possibility of law reform, which is a complex compendium
of issues overlaid with a moral dimension does shipping, as an industry, deserve to be exempted
from the operation of the Act which sets a high standard of corporate behaviour? If so, how could
that reform be shaped? In the meantime, what steps can the shipping industry take to work within
the legal framework of the TPA?

Current theorising in the area of cognitive arithmetic suggests that simple arithmetic knowledge is stored in memory and accessed in the same way as word knowledge i.e., it is stored in a network of associations, with simple facts retrieved automatically from memory. However, to date, the main methodologies that have been employed to investigate automaticity in simple arithmetic processing (e.g., production and verification) have produced a wide variety of difficulties in interpretation. In an attempt to address this, the present series of investigations utilised a numerical variant of the well established single word semantic priming paradigm that involved the presentation of problems as primes (e.g., 2 + 3) and solutions as targets (e.g., 5), as they would occur in a natural setting. Adult university students were exposed to both addition and multiplication problems in each of three main prime target relationship conditions, including congruent (e.g., 2 + 3 and 5), incongruent (e.g., 2 + 3 and 13), and neutral conditions (X + Y and 5). When combined with a naming task and the use of short stimulus onset asynchronies (SOAs), this procedure enabled a more valid and reliable investigation into automaticity and the cognitive mechanisms underlying simple arithmetic processing.
The first investigation in the present series addressed the question of automaticity in arithmetic fact retrieval, whilst the remaining investigations examined the main factors thought to influence simple arithmetic processing i.e., skill level, surface form, problem type and split. All factors, except for problem type, were found to influence processing in the arithmetic priming paradigm. For example, the results of all five investigations were consistent in revealing significant facilitation in naming congruent targets for skilled participants, following exposure to Arabic digit primes at the short SOA. Accordingly, the facilitation was explained in terms of the operation of an automatic spreading activation mechanism. Additionally, significant inhibitory effects in incongruent target naming were identified in skilled performance in all of the studies in the present series of investigations. Throughout the course of these investigations, these effects were found to vary with operation, surface form and SOA, and in the final investigation, the level of inhibition was found to vary with the split between the correct solution and the incongruent target. Consequently, a number of explanations were put forward to account for these effects. In the first two investigations, it was suggested that the inhibitory effects resulted from the use of a response validity checking mechanism, whilst in the final investigation, the results were more consistent with the activation of magnitude representations in memory (this can be likened to Dehaenes, 1997, number sense). In contrast, the results of the third investigation led to the proposal that for number word primes, inhibition in processing results from the activation of phonological representations in memory, via a reading based mechanism.
The present series of investigations demonstrated the utility of the numerical variant of the single word semantic priming paradigm for the investigation of simple arithmetic processing. Given its capacity to uncover the fundamental cognitive mechanisms at work in simple arithmetic operations, this methodology has many applications in future research.

Pharmacological levels of inorganic forms of copper (Cu) and zinc (Zn) are frequently used in diets for pigs to improve performance and control post-weaning colibacillosis. However, the use of such forms and levels causes mineral accumulation in the soil, and is a non-sustainable practice from an environmental perspective. Alternatively, organic complexes of copper (Cu) and zinc (Zn) have been proposed to be more available to pigs, and when included at lower levels than inorganic sources of these minerals have significantly reduced mineral excretion in faeces without compromising performance. However the effect of these organic minerals fed simultaneously at low levels of inclusion has not been well studied. The general hypothesis tested in this thesis was that concentrations of Cu and Zn in faecal material would be reduced when fed in an organic (Bioplex®) form without compromising performance or mineral homeostasis in growing/finishing pigs, in comparison to Cu and Zn fed in an inorganic (sulphate) form.
Two experiments were performed to test this hypothesis: Experiment 1 was designed as a 2x2 factorial arrangement of treatments, with two mineral forms (Bioplex® and Sulphate) and two inclusion levels (High and Low). The low levels aimed at providing 80 mg/kg of dietary Cu and Zn, and the high levels aimed at providing 160 mg/kg of dietary Cu and Zn. Experiment 2 was designed as a 3x2 factorial arrangement of treatments, with two mineral forms (Bioplex® and Sulphate) and three inclusion levels (Low, Medium and High). The low levels aimed at providing 25 mg/kg of Cu and 40 mg/kg of Zn, the medium levels aimed at providing 80 mg/kg of both Cu and Zn, and the high levels aimed at providing 160 mg/kg of both Cu and Zn in the diet. Unfortunately the Medium sulphate grower diet was contaminated with excess Zn while manufacturing, which led to the exclusion of this treatment from the study.
In Experiment 1, pigs fed LB (Low Bioplex®) or HS (High Sulphate) diets grew faster (P=0.014) and their carcasses were 3.5 kg heavier (P=0.020) than LS (Low Sulphate)- or HB (High Bioplex®)-fed pigs. Pigs fed LB or HS diets had lower (P=0.001) levels of Zn in plasma, a higher (P=0.029) concentration of Zn in the pancreas and a lower (P=0.020) concentration of Zn in bone than pigs fed LS or HB diets. The concentration of Cu in liver increased (P=0.017) with the concentration in the diet as did Cu and Zn levels in faeces (P<0.001) without any difference between mineral forms. Feed conversion ratio (FCR) tended to be improved (P=0.062) by the inclusion of Bioplex® in the diet. The inclusion of Bioplex® reduced (P=0.003) subcutaneous fat depth at the P2 site by 2.2 mm compared to the sulphate. In Experiment 2, there was no difference (P>0.05) in growth rate between experimental diets, but again there was an overall improvement (P=0.012) in FCR when Bioplex® were included. Blood and tissue Cu and Zn concentrations were within normal physiological ranges in all treatments, supporting a reduction of Cu and Zn levels in the diet. Only Zn level in plasma during the growing phase and Cu and Zn concentration in tissues increased (P<0.001) with the addition in the diet. None of the biomarkers of Cu or Zn status analysed in the pigs showed any difference between the inorganic and the Bioplex® forms. Copper and Zn concentrations in faecal material decreased (P<0.001) with their inclusion in the diet, and only in the finishing collection there was a further decrease of 10% in Zn faecal concentration when Bioplex® was included instead of the sulphate at similar low levels. Carcass and meat quality measures were independent of the Cu and Zn form or level, however a higher proportion of carcasses from LB-fed pigs had <14 mm subcutaneous fat depth at the P2 site. The inclusion of Bioplex® failed to have a significant effect on Cu excretion and its inclusion had an inconsistent effect on Zn excretion.
The overall findings from this thesis partially supported the hypothesis that the inclusion of Bioplex® would reduce the concentration of Cu and Zn in faeces compared to the inclusion of inorganic forms at similar inclusion levels. Nevertheless, total Cu and Zn levels in growing/finishing pig diets could be reduced from 160 mg/kg of both Cu and Zn to 30 mg/kg Cu and 60 mg/kg Zn, in either the sulphate or the Bioplex® form, without negatively affecting performance or mineral homeostasis in the pigs and significantly reducing Cu and Zn excretion (between 50 and 80%). The advantage of including Bioplex® instead of sulphates was in the improvement in FCR. Carcass and meat quality were independent of the form and level of dietary Cu and Zn.

This chapter examines the question of how hylomorphists should conceive of the matter composing concrete particular objects. It considers three conceptions of matter: the traditional Thomistic doctrine of prime matter, as developed by David Oderberg; the matter-as-stuff hypothesis, as defended by Jeffrey Brower and Ned Markosian; and the hylomorphic conception of matter, according to which the matter of a concrete particular object is nothing other than its material parts and these are themselves conceived of as matter–form compounds, unless or until we reach an empirically confirmed level in the compositional hierarchy at which the hylomorphic analysis no longer applies. The chapter argues that the prime-matter hypothesis and the matter-as-stuff hypothesis give rise to a number of difficulties and concludes that the third, hylomorphic, conception of matter is therefore preferable to the previous two.

Horror offers us a connection to fears that are otherwise unspeakable, even inconceivable, so why do we seek it out? Monstrous Forms offers a theory of horror that works through the genre across a broad range of contemporary moving-image media: film, television, videogames, YouTube, gifs, streaming, virtual reality. This book analyzes our experience of and engagement with horror by focusing on its form, paying special attention to the common ground, the styles, and forms that move between mediums. It looks at the ways that moving-image horror addresses its audiences; the ways that it elicits, or demands, responses from its viewers, players, browsers. This chapter explains one of the most important components of the web: the development and standardization of Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) and DOM (Document Object Model) which are used for creating web pages and applications. In 1994, Tim Berners-Lee established the World Wide Web consortium (W3C) to work on HTML development. In 1995, the W3C decided to introduce a new standard, WHTML 2.0. However, it was incompatible with the older HTML/WHTML versions. This led to the establishment of Web Hypertext Application Technology Working Group (WHATWG) which worked externally to the W3C. WHATWG developed HTML5 which was adopted by the major browser developers Google, Opera, Mozilla, IBM, Microsoft, and Apple. For this reason, the W3C decided to work on HTML5, leading to a joint WHATWG/W3C working group. This chapter explains the development of HTML and WHATWG’s Living Standard with explanation of ongoing splits and agreements between the two fora. It explains how this division of labour led to W3C focus on the main areas of web architecture, the semantic web, the web of devices, payments applications, and web and television (TV) standards. This has led to the spillover of work to the W3C from the national sphere, notably in the development of copyright protection for TV streaming.

Hackers always try to exploit the different vulnerabilities or flaws existing in web servers and web applications, which can pose a big threat for an organization. This chapter provides the importance of protecting web servers and applications along with the different tools used for analyzing the security of web servers and web applications. The chapter also introduces different web attacks that are carried out by an attacker either to gain illegal access to the web server data or reduce the availability of web services. The web server attacks includes denial of service (DOS) attacks, buffer overflow exploits, website defacement with sql injection (SQLi) attacks, cross site scripting (XSS) attacks, remote file inclusion (RFI) attacks, directory traversal attacks, phishing attacks, brute force attacks, source code disclosure attacks, session hijacking, parameter form tampering, man-in-the-middle (MITM) attacks, HTTP response splitting attacks, cross-site request forgery (XSRF), lightweight directory access protocol (LDAP) attacks, and hidden field manipulation attacks. The chapter explains different web server and web application testing tools and vulnerability scanners including Nikto, BurpSuite, Paros, IBM AppScan, Fortify, Accunetix, and ZAP. Finally, the chapter also discusses countermeasures to be implemented while designing any web application for any organization in order to reduce the risk.

This chapter discusses the machinery of digestion in giraffes. The shape of the mouth of giraffes, the shape and number of their teeth, the shape and size of their tongue and the arrangement of the muscles of eating are unique and have evolved to be perfectly suited to the task of browsing. Comminution of browse is eased by large volumes of saliva secreted from salivary glands that relative to body mass are small. The digestive tract of giraffes consists of a rumen, reticulum, and omasum in addition to the usual stomach and intestines found in any mammal. The forestomachs are smaller and the small and large intestines are longer than those of grazer-ruminants. The quality, succulence and consistency of browse reduces the need for prolonged rumination. Movement of browse through the rumen-reticulum is fast, and it is likely that a mixture of plant cell contents and saliva, can bypass the rumen via an esophageal groove, and be deposited directly into the stomach. 40% of daily energy (mainly in the form of volatile fatty acids) is provided by microbial fermentation of browse in the rumen, and 60% derives from intestinal digestion mainly of glucose), rather than the reverse as found in grazer-ruminants. Significant fermentation of undigested fiber (mainly hemicellulose) occurs in the large intestine. The combination of digestive processes results in very efficient use of the nutrients and an apparent digestibility of ~85%, which is high. To provide the browse needed to meet daily energy demand giraffes need a home range of ~60 km2.

Applications that operate on the Web often interact with a database to persistently store data. For example, if an e-commerce application needs to store a user's credit card number, they typically retrieve the data from a Web form (filled out by the customer) and pass that data to some application or script running on the company's server. The dominant language that these database queries are written in is SQL, the Structured Query Language. Web applications can be vulnerable to a malicious user crafting input that gets executed on the server. One instance of this is an attacker entering Structured Query Language (SQL) commands into input fields, and then this data being used directly on the server by a Web application to construct a database query. The result could be an attacker's gaining control over the database and possibly the server. Care should be taken to validate user input on the server side before user data is used.

The database has been conceived and implemented to facilitate spatial analysis based on the objectives of the research into iron production along the Drava River in Late Antiquity and the Early Middle Ages. The selected data has been made accessible to the external user via the project’s webpage in the form of a Web-GIS browser.

First, a simple cost model is developed for estimating the development and learning overheads of Web service interfaces for service-oriented applications as the motivation of this work. Then, the authors present the design of the service-oriented browser and discuss the enabling technologies. A prototype system is developed using existing technologies and standards as a proof of concept.

This heterogeneous repository stores resources or pointers to resources of many different kinds including, but not limited to, electronic or printed material, courses, slide presentations, videos, or any other resource that is relevant to the subject matter. Short-term queries preferred by most users often result in a list of Web search results with low precision from a user perspective. The purpose of this research is to improve the relevance of Web search results via search-term disambiguation and ontological filtering of search results based on socially constructed search concepts. A Special Search Browser (SSB) is developed where semantic characteristics of the socially constructed knowledge repository are extracted to form a category-document set. kNN is employed with the extracted category-documents as training data to classify Web results. Users’ selected categories are employed to present the search results. Experimental results based on five experts’ judgments over 250 hits from Yahoo! API demonstrate that utilizing the socially constructed search concepts to categorize and filter search results can improve precision by 23.5%, from Yahoo’s 41.7% to 65.2% of SSB based on the results of five selected ambiguous search-terms.

Abstract This paper focuses on virtual prototyping and simulation of marine operations based on web technologies. The ship is represented as a digital object, which can be used to perform different types of analyses and simulations. The presented simulations are: motion of a single hull and of multiple hulls in regular waves calculated with closed-form expressions, induced pendulum motion response to a lifted load, and motion of a barge with initial movements in still water calculated with equations of motion. The simulations are developed as web applications in JavaScript and HTML, with graphical user interfaces and 3D renders of the operations. Relevant parameters of the simulations such as wave characteristics and design dimensions are linked to interactive dashboards, allowing the user to modify them and visualize the results in real-time. The applications are lightweight enough to be executed locally in the web browser of most modern devices. The work employs an open source approach, relying most notably on the Vessel.js library. This aims to foster reuse of models and collaboration with external contributors.

Composed as an ethereal, tenuous experience, STUCK was designed to embrace light and darkness. A collaborative design project stuck was an installation designed, funded, created, fabricated, and constructed by 18 students in a thesis studio. The installation served as showcase to present each of the student’s thesis research books. STUCK was conceptually developed over a month through sketches and full-scale prototyping with construction and exhibition occurring over a five day period. The tight timeline required the participation of all 18 students – peeling, sticking, and adhering 35 miles of packaging tape across a steel uni-strut structure to form two main atria. Additional occupiable tendrils stretched to attach to the main structure, stabilizing and forming tunnels and slings into which to climb and recline. Visitors were able to gather and browse thesis books in the atria before climbing into the tendrils for intimate reading. As darkness reduced the light, STUCK transformed from reading space to alternate experience; reading became impossible and skin became digital scrim, transformed by music tempo and volume, and array of videos projected onto the skin. In this incarnation, the focus shifted from form and books to exploitation and manipulation of space, perception, and material properties.

Advanced Vehicle Technology Competitions have adopted an online collaboration system to coordinate information sharing and dissemination among hundreds of people from numerous organizations and across multiple countries, including universities, competition organizers, and sponsors involved in the competitions. Microsoft SharePoint is a collection of software elements that includes web browser based collaboration functions, process management modules, search modules and a document-management platform that serves as the foundation for this online collaboration system. SharePoint is used to host a secure web site that accesses shared workspaces, information stores and documents, as well as threaded discussion forums. Users can manipulate controls called “web parts” or interact with pieces of content such as lists and document libraries. The overall team-based engineering education strategy is facilitated throughout the three year EcoCAR program by a two way flow of information between the teams and organizers. Safety and design rules are updated and posted for teams to access. Each team has their own secure document library area for posting required progress reports, design reports, safety documentation, and technical report deliverables that are scored as part of the competition. Scoring results with comments are returned to each team under the team specific site. Proprietary vehicle and component data are also made available, and can be restricted to only those teams that have approved non disclosure agreements with the sponsor. Specific subject and component-based forums are used for asynchronous, threaded exchange of information and questions to subject matter experts. Issues and solutions discovered by students are shared among all teams. The SharePoint Online Collaboration system has significantly improved the information-sharing, evaluation and communications capabilities of the Advanced Vehicle Technology Competitions across a vast audience. This has enabled us to significantly enhance the technical scope of the program and improve the educational value to the university participants.
